Core Glossary
Core Glossary — Acts 1–28
How to Use This Glossary
This glossary lists every load-bearing theological term identified in 07_semantic_analysis.md, organized by the curriculum’s nine doctrine categories, in the order those terms first arise across Acts 1–28. Two term classes are distinguished:
- [REUSE] — the term is already fixed in the Romans baseline
translation_memory.json; the Bodo rendering below MUST be used exactly as recorded there. No deviation is permitted. - [NEW] — the term is newly required by Acts vocabulary and is proposed here for addition to translation memory, pending the same theologian/native-speaker review routing indicated by its risk tier.
Risk tiers (Critical/High/Medium/Low) and review routing follow the Romans baseline’s doctrine_risk_registry.json definitions exactly:
- Critical/High → mandatory human theologian review
- Medium → native speaker review
- Low → automated review sufficient
1. The Holy Spirit and Pentecost

| Filled with the Holy Spirit | πλησθέντες πνεύματος ἁγίου | पबित्र आत्थाजों भारायनाय | pobitro aathajwng bharainai | Critical | [NEW] | 2:4, 4:8, 4:31, 9:17, 13:9 | Must be distinguished at every occurrence from doudini possession/trance during Kherai puja; speaker retains full self-possession and produces doctrinally coherent proclamation |
| Wind (Pentecost sign) | πνοή | बार | bar | Critical | [NEW] | 2:2 | Identical to the Bathou sijou plant’s “bar” (air) element name; no alternate Bodo word exists — requires explicit teaching framing, not substitution |
| Fire (tongues of fire) | γλῶσσαι ὡσεὶ πυρός | ओर / उ (confirm with theologian) | or | Critical | [NEW] | 2:3 | Identical to the Bathou sijou plant’s “or” (fire) element name; combined with बार above, Acts 2:2-3 is the single highest comparative-religion risk finding of this analysis |

This glossary must be loaded alongside 07_semantic_analysis.md, the Romans baseline translation_memory.json, bible_term_registry.json, and doctrine_risk_registry.json before any Phase 2 translation of Acts material begins. All [NEW] terms require formal addition to translation memory with theologian/native-speaker sign-off per their assigned risk tier before Phase 2 segment translation may proceed.
Critical Risk Terms
Grace
Approved rendering: मोफादांनाय दान
Transliteration: mwphwdangnai daan
Doctrine: Grace
Rejected alternatives: दान गोरोबनाय (reciprocal gift expecting return, rejected), पुण्य (Brahma Dharma merit-language, never use)
Original: χάρις
Category: Justification
(inherited from Romans package) CRITICAL. In Acts, Peter’s Jerusalem Council argument (15:11) that Gentiles are saved ‘through grace,’ not law-keeping, is the book’s clearest statement of this doctrine.
Righteousness
Approved rendering: धार्मिकता
Transliteration: dharmikota
Doctrine: Salvation
Rejected alternatives: धर्म (avoid bare Sanskritic cosmic-duty sense)
Original: δικαιοσύνη
Category: Justification
(inherited from Romans package) Appears in Paul’s address to Felix (24:25) alongside self-control and coming judgment.
Justification
Approved rendering: धार्मिक होनाय राव
Transliteration: dharmik honai rao
Doctrine: Salvation
Rejected alternatives: गुनाहनि माफ (forgiveness alone, too narrow)
Original: δικαίωσις / δικαιόω

Doctrine: Salvation

Doctrine: Resurrection of Christ
Rejected alternatives: फिन जोनोम (rebirth/reincarnation, never use)

Son Of God

Transliteration: Isornni gwra
Doctrine: Sonship of Christ
Rejected alternatives: देवता गोरा (a lesser divine being’s son, explicit downgrade)

Category: Church
NEW — Critical forbidden-substitution rule. Acts 11:30; 14:23; 15:2-6; 20:17; 21:18. A descriptive, non-honorific-title compound is required since the natural honorific word (बुरहा) would place church elders in the same category as Bathoubwrai.
