Semantic Analysis

Semantic Analysis — 2 Peter (Koine Greek → Bodo)

Curriculum: 2 Peter 1–3 Core passage: 2 Peter 1:16–21 Destination language: Bodo (Boro), Devanagari script Governing authority: Romans Language Package (translation_memory.json, bible_term_registry.json, doctrine_risk_registry.json). All terms already recorded there are reused exactly below; this document only analyzes terms newly required by 2 Peter.

Comparative-religion axis (carried forward from the baseline): Bathouism (Bathoubwrai, aniconic sijou worship, Kherai puja, doudini trance-possession) and Brahma Dharma (1912 Sanskritized reform movement built on Hindu monotheism, karma-ethics, and Sanskrit dharma/gyaan/bhakti/moksha vocabulary). 2 Peter introduces several NEW collision risks not present in Romans, most importantly: (1) prophetic inspiration language (“carried along by the Holy Spirit,” 1:21) which is dangerously close to descriptions of doudini spirit-possession; (2) “partakers of the divine nature” (1:4), which risks being heard as a Hindu-monist/Brahma-Dharma-adjacent claim of becoming divine; (3) “new heavens and new earth” (3:13), which risks being mapped onto Bathouism’s own five-element cosmology (ha/earth, dwi/water, bar/air, or/fire, okhrang/sky); and (4) the Second Coming/Day of the Lord, which risks assimilation into either an impersonal fate framework or a cyclical-dissolution (Hindu pralaya-like) cosmology.

PART A — CORE PASSAGE: 2 Peter 1:16–21 (verse-by-verse)

Verse 16

TermsVariantsContextual Theological MeaningBodo RenderingRisk
μῦθος (σεσοφισμένοις μύθοις)
mythos (sesophismenois mythois)
“cleverly devised tale/fable”
invented story, legend, fiction contrasted with eyewitness fact
”cleverly devised fables,” “myths,” “made-up stories”
Peter denies the apostolic testimony rests on invented religious legend; contrasts with eyewitness fact (v.16b–18)बानायनाय कथा (banainai kotha)High — Bathouism transmits Bathoubwrai/Kherai teaching orally as sacred narrative; calling apostolic testimony “not myth” must not be heard as an implicit slur requiring softening, nor may बानायनाय कथा be softened toward “story” generically, which would blur the eyewitness-vs-legend contrast the verse makes
δύναμις
dynamis
”power, might, capability”
power, strength, miraculous power
”power,” “might”
Christ’s power revealed at the Transfiguration, anticipating his power at the Parousiaईश्वरनि सक्ति (Isornni sakti) — here मसीहनि सक्ति (Mosihni sakti), applying baseline “power_of_god” pattern to ChristHigh — reuse baseline caution: must stay categorically distinct from देउनि सक्ति (doudini’s ritual/trance power)
παρουσία
parousia
”arrival, presence, coming”
(a) a dignitary’s official arrival/visit; (b) Christ’s future bodily return
”coming,” “advent,” “appearing,” “presence”
The certain, future, visible return of Christ in glory — anchor for 2 Peter’s “Certainty of Christ’s Return” doctrine (also 3:4, 3:12)मसीहनि दुसारे फैनाय (Mosihni dusare phoinai, “Christ’s coming a second time”)Critical — must be kept structurally and lexically distinct from फिन जोनोम (the forbidden rebirth/reincarnation term in the baseline). दुसारे (“a second time,” an Assamese/Sanskrit-derived ordinal) is deliberately chosen over any compound built on फिन (“again”), to prevent bleed-through from resurrection vocabulary into a cyclical-return reading
ἐπόπτης
epoptēs
”eyewitness, observer”
one who has personally seen an event, technical term for firsthand witness
”eyewitnesses”
Peter’s own eyewitness authority (with James and John) undergirds apostolic testimony about Christ’s gloryनुनाय साक्षी (nunai sakkhi, “one who saw as a witness”)Medium — must convey personal, historical eyewitness status, not the status of a doudini who “witnesses” a deity through trance-vision
μεγαλειότης
megaleiotēs
”greatness, majesty, magnificence”
splendor and majesty, esp. of a ruler or deity
”majesty,” “grandeur”
Christ’s intrinsic divine majesty displayed at the Transfigurationगोरॉ महिमा (goro mohima, “great majesty”), built on established महिमा (glory)Medium — must not be diluted to generic praise-language shared with honorific elder-titles (बर’ऐ/बुरहा) reserved in the baseline for Bathoubwrai; this majesty belongs to Christ uniquely

Verse 17

TermsVariantsContextual Theological MeaningBodo RenderingRisk
τιμή
timē
”honor, value, price”
honor, esteem, worth
”honor”
Honor conferred on Christ by the Father at the Transfigurationसम्मान (sanman)Low
δόξα
doxa
”glory, radiance, honor”
visible splendor, honor, reputation
”glory”
The Father’s glory bestowed on/displayed through the Sonमहिमा (mohima) — baseline term, reused exactlyHigh — reuse baseline caution (deity_of_christ doctrine); do not let “Majestic Glory” (μεγαλοπρεπὴς δόξα) collapse into doudini-associated trance-radiance imagery
μεγαλοπρεπὴς δόξα
megaloprepēs doxa
”magnificent/majestic glory”
a reverent circumlocution for God the Father himself
”the Majestic Glory,” “the Excellent Glory”
A reverential title for God the Father as source of the heavenly voiceगोरॉ महिमानि ईश्वर आफा (goro mohimani Isor afa, “the Father [who is] the Majestic Glory”) — descriptive expansionHigh — must clearly identify this circumlocution as God the Father, not an independent glorious being
υἱός … ἀγαπητός
huios … agapētos
”son … beloved”
Christ’s unique, beloved divine Sonship, declared audibly by the Father
”my beloved Son,” “my Son, whom I love”
Direct divine confirmation of Christ’s unique Sonship (sonship_of_christ doctrine, Critical in baseline)ईश्वरनि आदार गोरा (Isornni adar gwra, “God’s beloved Son”) — आदार (adar, “dear/beloved,” native/Assamese) added to baseline’s established ईश्वरनि गोरा (son_of_god)Critical — reuse baseline sonship_of_christ risk framing exactly: must not read as one spirit-being’s favored offspring among the Bathou pantheon’s many divine and semi-divine figures
εὐδοκέω (εὐδόκησα)
eudokeō
”to be well pleased, take delight in”
settled divine pleasure/approval
”in whom I am well pleased,” “whom I delight in”
The Father’s eternal delight in the Sonमोनथि पुरनाय (monthi purnai, “heart/mind being filled/satisfied”)Medium

Verse 18

TermsVariantsContextual Theological MeaningBodo RenderingRisk
φωνή … ἐξ οὐρανοῦ
phōnē ex ouranou
”voice … from heaven”
audible, historical divine speech-event
”voice from heaven”
Direct, verifiable divine testimony to Christ, heard by eyewitnessesओखराংनिफ्राय राव (rejected) → आकाशनिफ्राय आराव (akashnifrai arav, “voice from the sky/heaven”)High — deliberately avoid ओखrang, the Bathou term for the “sky” element (one of the sijou plant’s five branches); आकाश (a neutral Sanskrit/Assamese loan) is used instead so the biblical heaven is not folded into Bathou five-element cosmology
ἅγιον ὄρος
hagion oros
”holy mountain”
a mountain set apart by a manifestation of God’s presence (the Mount of Transfiguration)
“holy mountain,” “sacred mountain”
The Transfiguration site, marked by God’s manifest presenceपबित्र सांगदौ (pobitro sangdau, “holy mountain”) — पबित्र reused exactly from baselineMedium — must not be assimilated to a Bathou/Kherai sacred site (नमासोलि) already flagged in baseline as forbidden for “church”; holiness here derives from a one-time divine manifestation, not an ongoing shrine function

Verse 19

TermsVariantsContextual Theological MeaningBodo RenderingRisk

”more sure,” “more fully confirmed”
The prophetic word is confirmed further by the eyewitness event just describedअधिक निश्चित (adhik nishchit)Medium
προφητικὸς λόγος
prophētikos logos
”prophetic word”
the OT prophetic writings collectively
”the prophetic word,” “the message of the prophets,” “prophecy”
Old Testament Scripture as God-given, reliable testimony to Christ — central to “Reliability and Inspiration of Scripture” doctrineभाबिष्यत रांनि राव (bhabishyot rangni rav) — built on baseline’s established भाबिष्यत रां (prophecy) and राव (word, from imputed_righteousness compound)High — reuse baseline inspiration_of_scripture caution: Bathou oral tradition has no fixed prophetic-scripture category; Brahma Dharma has its own separate reform literature. This is God’s own fixed prior testimony, not either of those
λύχνος φαίνων ἐν αὐχμηρῷ τόπῳ
lychnos phainōn en auchmērō topō
”a lamp shining in a dark/murky place”
metaphor for guidance amid moral/spiritual darkness
”a lamp shining in a dark place”
Scripture’s guiding function until Christ’s return fully dispels darknessअंधकार जायगाव फुंनाय दीपा (ondhokar jaigao phunnai dipa)Low
ἡμέρα διαυγάσῃ
hēmera diaugasē
”the day dawns”
the breaking of full daylight, metaphor for the Parousia’s clarity

The full clarity that Christ’s return will bringसान गोहोमथाव जानाय (san gohomthav janai, “day becoming fully bright”)Medium
φωσφόρος
phōsphoros
”light-bearer, morning star”
Venus as morning star; messianic image (cf. Rev 22:16)
“morning star,” “daystar”
A messianic image of Christ’s certain, dawning returnबिहानि बिथिं (bihani bithing, “morning star”)Medium — messianic star-imagery should be taught explicitly as pointing to Christ’s return, not left to resonate loosely with any indigenous astral symbolism

Verse 20

Greek: τοῦτο πρῶτον γινώσκοντες ὅτι πᾶσα προφητεία γραφῆς ἰδίας ἐπιλύσεως οὐ γίνεται.

TermsVariantsContextual Theological MeaningBodo RenderingRisk
προφητεία γραφῆς
prophēteia graphēs
”prophecy of Scripture”
a Scripture-text containing prophetic revelation
”prophecy of Scripture,” “scriptural prophecy”
Scripture’s prophetic content originates with God, not human insightपबित्र सास्त्रनि भाबिष्यत रां (pobitro shastrani bhabishyot rang)High — सास्त्र (shastra) is a heavily Sanskritic/Hindu-adjacent word also used by Brahma Dharma’s own reform literature; must be explicitly taught here as referring uniquely to the God-breathed biblical text, not to Vedic-style shastra literature generally
ἰδία ἐπίλυσις
idia epilysis
”one’s own interpretation/release”
a private, self-generated interpretive act
”private interpretation,” “one’s own interpretation”
Scripture’s meaning is not generated by the individual interpreter but given by Godनिजोरनि बुझनाय (nijorni bujnai, “one’s own [private] understanding”)High — directly supports inspiration_of_scripture doctrine; must be paired with v.21’s teaching so the point is “origin,” not merely “interpretation method”

Verse 21

TermsVariantsContextual Theological MeaningBodo RenderingRisk
θέλημα ἀνθρώπου
thelēma anthrōpou
”will of man”
human volition/initiative as a source
”the will of man,” “human will”
Negates human initiative as the source of prophecyमानसिनि मन (manwsini mon, “the will/mind of man”)Medium
φέρω (ἠνέχθη / φερόμενοι)
pherō (ēnechthē / pheromenoi)
“to carry, bear, bring”
to be borne along, carried, moved by an outside force
”moved,” “carried along,” “borne along,” “impelled”
The Spirit’s sovereign, personal superintendence of the human authors of Scripture in the very act of speaking/writingपबित्र आत्थाजों बोहोनाय (pobitro aathajwng bohonai, “being carried along by the Holy Spirit”)Critical — this is the single highest cross-cultural collision risk in 2 Peter. “Being carried along/borne by the Spirit while speaking” is phenomenologically close to how a doudini’s Kherai-trance possession by Bathoubwrai is described (a deity seizing a human medium so that the deity, not the person, speaks). Translator notes MUST state explicitly: (1) the biblical prophets retained full personal identity, consciousness, and literary voice while writing — this is sovereign superintendence, not ecstatic possession or loss of self; (2) πνεῦμα ἅγιον here is always the personal, singular पबित्र आत्था of the baseline, never bare देउ/आत्था; (3) this verse must never be used in oral teaching without the possession-contrast being named aloud, unlike lower-risk terms where the distinction can remain a background note
πνεῦμα ἅγιον
pneuma hagion
”Holy Spirit”
third person of the Trinity
”Holy Spirit”
Divine, personal author behind the human writersपबित्र आत्था (pobitro aatha) — baseline term, reused exactly, always in fullCritical — reuse baseline forbidden-substitution rule verbatim: never bare देउ or आत्था alone
ἐλάλησαν ἀπὸ θεοῦ ἄνθρωποι
elalēsan apo theou anthrōpoi
”men spoke from God”
human agents as God’s authorized mouthpieces
”men spoke from God,” “men spoke as they were moved by God”
Dual authorship: fully human speech, fully divine origin and contentमानुषा ईश्वरनिफ्राय राव मोनो (manusha Isornifrai rav mono, “the men received/spoke the word from God”)High — must preserve both true human agency and true divine origin; avoid collapsing into either a merely-human-book reading or a possession-erases-the-human reading

PART B — CHAPTER-BY-CHAPTER STUDY OF THE WHOLE BOOK

Chapter 1 (vv. 1–15; vv. 16–21 treated above)

2 Peter 1 opens with greeting and doctrinal foundation (vv.1–11) before Peter’s personal testimony leads into the core passage (vv.12–21).

TermsVariantsContextual Theological MeaningBodo RenderingRisk
δοῦλος (v.1, self-designation)
doulos
”slave, bondservant”
willing, total ownership-belonging to a master
”servant,” “slave,” “bondservant”
Peter’s voluntary, total submission to Christ as his rightful Masterसेवक (sebok)Medium — reserved for positive, willing self-designation; contrast deliberately with गुलाम (gulam), used below for the negative “slaves of corruption” in ch.2 — this positive/negative pairing should be flagged for translators so the two are never interchanged
ἀπόστολος (v.1)
apostolos
”one sent with delegated authority”
authorized, commissioned envoy
”apostle”
Peter’s authorized apostolic officeगोदान जायगारि (godan jaigari) — baseline term, reused exactlyMedium — baseline apostleship risk applies unchanged
ἰσότιμος πίστις (v.1)
isotimos pistis
”faith of equal value/standing”
faith shared equally by all believers regardless of background
”a faith as precious as ours,” “faith of equal standing”
All believers, Jew or Gentile, share the same precious faithसमान गोरोब बिश्वास (saman gwrwb biswas) — बिश्वास reused exactly from baselineHigh — reuse baseline faith risk; object of faith (Christ, v.1) must remain explicit
δικαιοσύνη τοῦ θεοῦ (v.1)
dikaiosynē tou theou
”righteousness of our God”
God’s own righteous character, here as the ground of impartial faith-access
”righteousness of our God and Savior”
God’s own righteousness undergirds the gift of faithधार्मिकता (dharmikota) — baseline term, reused exactlyCritical — baseline righteousness risk applies unchanged
χάρις καὶ εἰρήνη (v.2)
charis kai eirēnē
”grace and peace”
standard apostolic greeting-blessing
”grace and peace”
Grace and peace multiplied through knowledge of Godमोफादांनाय दान आरो सान्ति (mwphwdangnai daan aro santi) — both reused exactly from baselineCritical / Medium — reuse baseline grace and peace risk framing unchanged
ἐπίγνωσις (vv.2, 3, 8; distinct from γνῶσις v.5)
epignōsis
”full/precise knowledge”
exact, personal, experiential knowledge (contrasted with mere γνῶσις, general knowledge)
“knowledge,” “true knowledge,” “full knowledge”
Saving, relational, growing knowledge of God/Christ — a major structuring theme of 2 Peterपूरा मिथिनाय (pura mithinai, “full/complete knowing”), built on native मिथिनाय (to know)Critical — ज्ञान (gyaan, the Sanskrit loan an unguided translator would likely reach for) is explicitly REJECTED: in Hindu thought (and in Brahma Dharma’s reform ethic) ज्ञान-marga (“the path of knowledge”) is one of the classical routes to मोक्ष (liberation), making ज्ञान load-bearing in exactly the wrong direction. Native मिथिनाय avoids this entirely. This term recurs six times across the book (1:2,3,5,6,8; 3:18) and its consistency is essential
γνῶσις (v.5, “add to virtue knowledge”)
gnōsis
”knowledge” (general)
ordinary cognitive knowledge, here of Christian truth/conduct
”knowledge”
One link in the virtue-chain of vv.5–7मिथिनाय (mithinai) — same native root as ἐπίγνωσις above, unmarked for intensityHigh — deliberately kept as the plain/base form so that ἐπίγνωσις (पूरा मिथिनाय, “full knowing”) reads as an intensified variant of the same root rather than an unrelated word, preserving the book’s rhetorical escalation
θεία δύναμις (v.3)
theia dynamis
”divine power”
God’s power specifically granting life and godliness
”divine power,” “his divine power”
The source of all resources for godly livingईश्वरनि सक्ति (Isornni sakti) — baseline power_of_god term, reused exactlyHigh — baseline caution re: देउनि सक्ति (doudini ritual power) applies unchanged
δόξα καὶ ἀρετή (v.3)
doxa kai aretē
”glory and virtue/excellence”
God’s own glorious moral excellence, by which he called believers
”his own glory and goodness,” “his glory and excellence”
The believer is called through an encounter with God’s own glory and moral excellenceमहिमा आरो सत गुन (mohima aro sot gun) — महिमा reused exactly; सत गुन newHigh — see ἀρετή entry below for the गुन collision risk
ἀρετή (v.5, “add to your faith virtue”)
aretē
”virtue, moral excellence, goodness”
active moral excellence, praiseworthy conduct
”virtue,” “moral excellence,” “goodness”
Central term of the “Growing in Christian Virtue” doctrine — the first quality to be added to faithसत गुन (sot gun, “good/true quality”)High — गुन (guna) is the term for the three classical गुण (sattva/rajas/tamas) in Samkhya-influenced Hindu ethics, an ethical-metaphysical framework Brahma Dharma’s reform also drew on. Must be taught explicitly that Christian ἀρετή is moral excellence flowing from new life/relationship with Christ (vv.3-4), not a cosmic quality-balance to be cultivated or a merit-accumulating self-effort
ἐπαγγέλματα (v.4)
epaggelmata
”promises”
God’s specific covenantal promises
”promises,” “precious and magnificent promises”
The promises by which believers become partakers of the divine natureथारायनाय (tharainai) — reused from baseline’s messianic_promise doctrine vocabularyMedium
κοινωνοὶ θείας φύσεως (v.4)
koinōnoi theias physeōs
”partakers/sharers of divine nature”
participation in God’s own moral/relational qualities (holiness, incorruptibility, love) through union with Christ
”partakers of the divine nature,” “share in God’s nature”
Central term of the “Divine Nature and Escaping Corruption” doctrineईश्वरनि सुबावआव भाग लाबनाय (Isornni subabao bhag labonai, “receiving a share in God’s nature/character”)Critical — the single most theologically loaded phrase in ch.1 outside the core passage. Must be explicitly and repeatedly taught as sharing God’s moral and relational qualities through the Spirit’s ongoing sanctifying work (cf. baseline sanctification, पबित्रनाय) — NOT ontological identity with God, NOT becoming a deity or ancestor-spirit, and NOT the Hindu/Brahma-Dharma monist claim that the individual self (atman) is ultimately identical with the divine (Brahman). This distinction is more urgent here than anywhere else in 2 Peter and requires theologian-authored teaching notes before any Phase 2 translation of 1:4 is finalized
φθορά (v.4, “escaped the corruption”)
phthora
”ruin, decay, corruption, destruction”
moral corruption and its consequence of ruin, caused by lust (ἐπιθυμία)
“corruption,” “decay,” “moral ruin”
The moral corruption of the world, from which believers are rescued by graceफोतोर (photor, “ruin/decay/destruction,” native)High — must be taught as moral corruption tied to sinful desire, distinct from any Hindu/Brahma-Dharma notion of the material world’s inherent perishability/illusoriness (a cosmological claim) that could otherwise attach itself to this word; this term recurs at 2:12, 2:19, and underlies the whole “Divine Nature and Escaping Corruption” doctrine
ἐπιθυμία (v.4 and throughout)
epithymia
”desire, lust, craving”
disordered/sinful desire, occasionally neutral desire
”lust,” “desire,” “corrupt desire”
The engine of moral corruption throughout the letterसाद (sad) / गाहामनि साद (gahamni sad, “desire of the flesh”) when body-specificMedium
ἐγκράτεια (v.6)
egkrateia
”self-control”
mastery over one’s own desires/impulses
”self-control,” “temperance”
A virtue-chain link building toward godlinessगोसो सामलानाय (gwsw samlanai, “controlling one’s own heart”), built on baseline’s सामलानाय (providence root)Medium
ὑπομονή (v.6)
hypomonē
”endurance, perseverance”
active steadfastness under trial
”perseverance,” “endurance,” “steadfastness”
Endurance under trial as a growth-virtueसहननाय (sohonnai)Medium — kept lexically distinct from μακροθυμία (ch.3, सहनशीलता) though both share the “sohon-” root, since ὑπομονή is the believer’s endurance while μακροθυμία is God’s patience
εὐσέβεια (v.6)
eusebeia
”godliness, piety”
reverent, God-honoring life and conduct
”godliness,” “piety”
Reverent life flowing from knowledge of Godईश्वर मानोन जिउनाय (Isor manwn jiunai, “living in honor/reverence toward God”)High — भक्ति (bhakti) is explicitly REJECTED as an alternative: bhakti is a load-bearing technical term in Hindu devotional theology (bhakti-marga) and in Brahma Dharma’s reform emphasis on devotion; using it here would frame Christian godliness as one devotional path among several rather than reverent obedience flowing from a unique covenant relationship
φιλαδελφία (v.7)
philadelphia
”brotherly love/kindness”
mutual love among believers as spiritual siblings
”brotherly kindness,” “brotherly affection”
Love within the believing communityभाइ-फिसानि प्रेम (bhai-fisani prem, “love of brothers and sisters”)Medium
ἀγάπη (v.7)
agapē
”love”
selfless, willed love, God’s own character and the capstone Christian virtue
”love,” “charity”
The capstone of the virtue-chain (v.7), reflecting God’s own natureप्रेम (prem)Medium — प्रेम is a widely attested pan-Indic Sanskrit loan; confirm against a current printed Bodo Bible that this matches its established rendering for ἀγάπη before Phase 2 deployment (parallel caution to the baseline’s जिसु confirmation note)
κλῆσις καὶ ἐκλογή (v.10, “make your calling and election sure”)
klēsis kai eklogē
”calling and election”
God’s effectual summons and sovereign choice
”calling and election”
Assurance flowing from confirmed, fruitful Christian characterफिनायनि सिम आरो ईश्वरनि सायख (phinaini sim aro Isornni saikho) — both reused exactly from baselineHigh — reuse baseline effectual_calling risk framing unchanged; must not be reheard as भागी (impersonal fate)
σκήνωμα (v.13, “as long as I am in this tent/body”)
skēnōma
”tent, tabernacle”
metaphor for the mortal body as a temporary dwelling
”tent,” “body,” “earthly dwelling”
Peter’s mortal body as temporary before deathगुदि थानाय घर (gudi thanai gor, “the house the body/soul dwells in”)Low
ἔξοδος (v.15, “after my departure”)
exodos
”departure, exit”
a euphemism for death
”my departure,” “my death”
Peter anticipates his own death, prompting him to leave a written recordगोरलैनाय (gwrolainai, “departing/going away”) — used euphemistically for deathLow

Chapter 2

Chapter 2 is dominated by the “False Teachers and Their Judgment” doctrine, drawing heavily on Old Testament judgment narratives (fallen angels, the Flood, Sodom and Gomorrah).

TermsVariantsContextual Theological MeaningBodo RenderingRisk
ψευδοπροφῆται / ψευδοδιδάσκαλοι (v.1)
pseudoprophētai / pseudodidaskaloi
”false prophets / false teachers”
teachers/prophets whose message is false and self-serving
”false prophets,” “false teachers”
Warns the church against destructive teaching within the communityमिथ्या भाबिष्यत सोंग्रा / मिथ्या सिक्षक (mithya bhabishyot songra / mithya sikkhak) — built on baseline’s भाबिष्यत सोंग्राHigh — reuse baseline caution that भाबिष्यत सोंग्रा must not be confused with ओझा (folk ritual specialist/diviner); false teachers here are corrupt versions of the true prophetic/teaching office, not a different cultural role altogether
αἵρεσις ἀπωλείας (v.1)
hairesis apōleias
”destructive heresy/opinion”
a destructive, divisive doctrinal faction or teaching
”destructive heresies,” “damnable heresies”
Doctrinal error leading to spiritual ruinफोतोरनि सिक्षा (photorni sikhya, “teaching of ruin/destruction”), built on established फोतोरHigh
δεσπότης … ἀγοράσαντα (v.1)
despotēs … agorasanta
”Master/Sovereign … who bought”
ownership-language for Christ, grounded in the price he paid (redemption)
“the Master who bought them,” “the Lord who redeemed them”
Christ’s rightful, redemption-grounded ownership over false teachers who deny himथलैनाय मालिक (tholoinai malik, “the Master who purchased/redeemed [them]“)High — मालिक is deliberately distinct from प्रभु (kyrios, baseline “lord”); it must be taught that this is not a lesser title but emphasizes rightful ownership through the price of redemption; care is needed that मालिक not be read as merely a commercial “owner” divorced from covenant love
Ταρταρόω (v.4, “cast into Tartarus” / “hell”)
tartaroō
”to cast into Tartarus” (a Greek term for the abyss of divine punishment)
a place/state of confinement and punishment for fallen angels prior to final judgment
”cast them into hell,” “cast them down to Tartarus”
The certainty of divine judgment on rebellious spiritual beings, grounding the certainty of judgment on false teachersदंडनि अंधकार गारां (dondoni ondhokar garang, “the dark pit of punishment”)High — नरक (naraka), the term an unguided translator would likely reach for, is explicitly REJECTED: it carries the full weight of Hindu cosmological naraka (often understood as one stage in a purgatorial/cyclical system), which would blur this one-time, holding-until-judgment confinement with a very different cosmology
κατακλυσμός (v.5)
kataklysmos
”flood, deluge”
the historical Noahic Flood
”flood,” “deluge”
Historical divine judgment on the ancient world, a pattern for future judgmentबड़ दैफुं (bod doiphung, “great flood”)Medium — note for teaching: various regional oral traditions in Northeast India include their own flood narratives; this must be taught as a specific, historical, once-for-all act of God’s judgment recorded in Scripture, not conflated with unrelated flood legends
δίκαιος (Νῶε, Λώτ) (vv.5,7,8)
dikaios
”righteous”
right standing before God, evidenced in godly conduct
”righteous,” “just”
Noah and Lot’s God-approved standing amid surrounding corruptionधार्मिक (dharmik), built on baseline’s धार्मिकताHigh — reuse baseline righteousness caution: धार्मिक must not collapse into Brahma Dharma’s reformed dharma-conduct code; here it denotes God-given right standing displayed in a righteous life, consistent with baseline’s righteousness/justification framework
ἄγγελος (v.4, v.11 etc.)
angelos
”angel, messenger”
heavenly created spirit-being, servant of God
”angel,” “heavenly messenger”
Angels — including fallen ones under judgment — are real, created, accountable spirit-beings, distinct from the populated Bathou/Kherai spirit-worldस्वर्गनि दूत (sorgoni doot, “messenger of heaven”)Medium — देवदूत is explicitly REJECTED: देव (deva) is a generic Hindu word for “a god/deity,” and देवदूत (“messenger of a deva”) would risk suggesting angels are messengers of lesser Hindu-style gods; स्वर्गनि दूत avoids देव entirely
πλάνη (v.18, cf. 3:17)
planē
”error, deception, wandering”
doctrinal/moral error leading astray
”error,” “deception”
The destructive error false teachers spreadगुमोन बाथा (gumon batha, “wrong/erring path”)High — भ्रम (bhrom) is explicitly REJECTED as too close to माया/भ्रम-adjacent Hindu-monist illusion vocabulary (the idea that the visible world itself is cosmic illusion); 2 Peter’s πλάνη is a moral/doctrinal straying, not a metaphysical illusion claim
ἐλευθερία (v.19)
eleutheria
”freedom, liberty”
true or false freedom; here, a false promise of liberty made by teachers who are themselves enslaved
”freedom,” “liberty”
Exposes the false teachers’ hollow promise of liberty while they themselves are boundथियारि (thiari, “freedom/looseness,” native)High — मुक्ति is explicitly REJECTED: it sits one step from मोक्ष (the forbidden Brahma-Dharma liberation term already banned in the baseline for “salvation”), and using it here for a false, hollow freedom would be doubly confusing. थियारि avoids that root entirely
δοῦλοι φθορᾶς (v.19)
douloi phthoras
”slaves of corruption”
total moral bondage to sin/corruption
”slaves of corruption,” “slaves of depravity”
The false teachers’ true condition despite promising others freedomफोतोरनि गुलाम (photorni gulam, “slaves/bondservants of corruption”)High — deliberately uses गुलाम (negative bondage) in contrast with सेवक (positive willing service, used for Peter in 1:1); this positive/negative pairing must be preserved consistently across the book
μίασμα τοῦ κόσμου (v.20)
miasma tou kosmou
”defilement of the world”
moral pollution characteristic of worldly life
”defilements of the world,” “corruption of the world”
What believers escape through knowledge of Christ, but risk returning toजगतनि अपबित्रता (jagatni opobitrota, “the world’s impurity”), built by negating established पबित्रMedium
βλασφημέω (v.10, v.12)
blasphēmeō
”to blaspheme, slander”
irreverent, contemptuous speech against God, spiritual authorities, or glorious beings
”blaspheme,” “revile,” “slander”

Chapter 3

see core-passage entry
”his coming,” “his promised coming”
The scoffers’ challenge: “Where is the promise of his coming?”मसीहनि दुसारे फैनाय (Mosihni dusare phoinai) — reused exactly from core passageCritical — reuse core-passage note verbatim; consistency across 1:16, 3:4, 3:12 is mandatory per the baseline’s cross-document consistency rules
κτίσις (v.4)
ktisis
”creation”
the created cosmos as a single completed act
”creation,” “the world”
Grounds the scoffers’ false assumption of changelessnessसृष्टि (srishti)Medium — must be taught as God’s unique, personal, ex nihilo act, not a phase within a cyclical cosmology (creation-dissolution-recreation) as found in Hindu and Brahma-Dharma-influenced cosmological thought
λόγος τοῦ θεοῦ (vv.5,7)
logos tou theou
”word of God”
God’s creative and judging speech-act
”word of God,” “God’s word”
The same divine word that created the world will also judge and renew itईश्वरनि राव (Isornni rav), built on established रावHigh — links directly to inspiration_of_scripture; teach that this “word” is the same authoritative divine speech behind Scripture (cf. 1:20-21)

”day of judgment,” “the Day of the Lord”
Central term of “The Day of the Lord and Final Judgment” doctrineप्रभुनि बिचारनि दिन (probhuni bisarni din, “the Lord’s day of judgment”), built on established प्रभुCritical — must not be reheard as an impersonal cyclical cosmic dissolution (a pralaya-like event in Hindu/Brahma-Dharma-influenced cosmology) nor as a fate-driven reckoning (भागी); this is a specific, future, personal act of the same प्रभु confessed in Romans 10:9, ending in real judgment and real renewal, not an endless cycle
στοιχεῖα (v.10,12)
stoicheia
”elements, basic components”
the fundamental physical constituents of the created order

the future, God-renewed created order where righteousness dwells
”new heavens and a new earth”
The believer’s ultimate hope, grounding perseverance and holy livingगोदान आकाश आरो गोदान हा (godan akash aro godan ha)High — deliberately built on आकाश (neutral Sanskrit loan for “sky/heaven”), NOT ओखrang, the specific term the baseline records for the “sky” branch of the Bathou sijou plant’s five-element symbolism (ha/earth, dwi/water, bar/air, or/fire, okhrang/sky). Note that this verse necessarily also uses हा (“earth”), which IS one of the five sijou elements; teaching notes must make clear that “new earth” is God’s own eschatological re-creation, not a renewal or purification of the sijou plant’s elemental symbolism
δικαιοσύνη κατοικεῖ (v.13)
dikaiosynē katoikei
”righteousness dwells”
the moral character of the age to come
”where righteousness dwells”

God’s purposeful, relational delay of judgment for the sake of repentance
”patience,” “longsuffering,” “forbearance”
Central term of “Patience of God’s Timing” doctrineईश्वरनि सहनशीलता (Isornni sohonshilota)High — must be taught as purposive, personal, relational patience aimed at giving space for repentance (v.9b), never reheard as an impersonal fate-driven “waiting” or a non-urgent ritual-calendar patience (cf. baseline providence caution against भागी)
βραδύτης (v.9)

a genuine, inward turning from sin to God
”repentance,” “come to repentance”
The purpose of God’s patience — giving opportunity for repentanceमन सोलायनाय (mon solainai, “turning of the mind/heart”)High — a NEW term not yet present in the Romans baseline TM; deliberately built in parallel with the baseline’s established resurrection compound जिउनाय सोलायनाय (“turning back to life”), using the same सोलायनाय (“turning/changing”) root for structural and pedagogical consistency across the curriculum. Recommend this be added to the shared translation memory and confirmed by a Bodo-speaking theologian, since it is foundational vocabulary that Romans itself needed but the baseline package did not yet formally record
ἀπόλλυμι (ἀπολέσθαι) (v.9)
apollymi
”to perish, be destroyed”
eternal ruin, opposite of salvation
”perish,” “be destroyed”
What God patiently delays judgment to prevent, for any who will repentफोतोर जानाय (photor janai, “coming to ruin”), built on established फोतोरHigh — kept lexically linked to φθορά (corruption) elsewhere in the book, since destruction is corruption’s end-point

”twist,” “distort”
False teachers’ willful misuse of apostolic and prophetic Scriptureपबित्र सास्त्रखौ गोज्रा खालामनाय (pobitro shastrokhou gwjra khalamnai, “twisting the Holy Scripture”)High — directly connects to the inspiration_of_scripture doctrine and echoes 1:20’s ἰδία ἐπίλυσις; both describe illegitimate handling of God-given Scripture

”writing, Scripture”
the fixed, authoritative biblical text

PART C — BOOK-LEVEL DOCTRINAL RISK SUMMARY

The following NEW cross-chapter risk clusters are introduced by 2 Peter beyond what the Romans baseline already covers, and require dedicated attention in 11_doctrine_analysis.md and the doctrine risk registry extension:

  1. Inspiration/prophetic-carrying language (1:21) — Critical, unique to 2 Peter; direct collision with doudini trance-possession phenomenology.
  2. Partakers of the divine nature (1:4) — Critical, unique to 2 Peter; direct collision with Hindu-monist/Brahma-Dharma theosis-adjacent readings.
  3. New heavens and new earth (3:13) — High; direct collision with Bathou five-element (sijou) cosmology, specifically the okhrang/sky and ha/earth elements.
  4. Day of the Lord / cosmic dissolution by fire (3:7,10,12) — Critical; collision risk with cyclical-dissolution cosmology.
  5. Growing in virtue (ἀρετή, γνῶσις, εὐσέβεια, 1:5-7) — High; collision risk with Samkhya-derived गुण-ethics and Hindu bhakti/jnana-marga vocabulary via Brahma Dharma.
  6. False teachers and judgment (ch.2) — High; must be distinguished from existing native religious-specialist roles (ओझा, doudini) without collapsing the distinct category of biblical false teaching into generic anti-traditional polemic.
  7. God’s patience (μακροθυμία, 3:9,15) — High; risk of being reheard as impersonal fate, paralleling the baseline’s providence caution.

All Critical and High items above require human theologian review before Phase 2 translation of the relevant verses, per the baseline’s risk-tier routing rules.

This document extends, and does not contradict, the Romans Language Package. All terms recorded in translation_memory.json are reused verbatim above; all new terms proposed here are flagged for the same confirmation workflow the baseline itself used for its own provisional compounds.
