Core Glossary

Core Glossary — 2 Timothy (English → Bodo)

Purpose and Method

This glossary compiles every load-bearing theological term identified in 07_semantic_analysis.md, drawn from all four chapters of 2 Timothy. Per the hard rule governing this Language Package, any term already recorded in the baseline Romans translation_memory.json is reused with its exact recorded Bodo rendering — these are marked “Baseline reuse” in the Source column. New terms specific to 2 Timothy’s doctrinal emphases are marked “New (2 Timothy)” and are risk-tiered using the same Critical/High/Medium/Low framework and the same Bathouism/Brahma Dharma comparative-religion grounding the baseline established. Several new compounds are explicitly marked provisional, consistent with the baseline’s own practice of flagging conceptual-gap terms for confirmation by a Bodo-speaking theologian before wide deployment.

Risk tier definitions (unchanged from baseline):

  • Critical — mistranslation destroys essential doctrine; human theologian review required for every occurrence.
  • High — mistranslation creates significant theological confusion or syncretism risk; human theologian review required.
  • Medium — mistranslation reduces clarity but preserves essential meaning; native speaker review recommended.
  • Low — minor imprecision; automated review sufficient.

Glossary Table

#English TermGreek (transliteration)Bodo RenderingTransliterationRiskSourceDoctrineKey Passage(s)Notes
1Scripture / Holy Scripturesγραφή / ἱερὰ γράμματα (graphē / hiera grammata)पबित्र सास्त्रpobitro sastroHighNew (2 Timothy) — matches doctrine registry’s existing compoundInspiration & Sufficiency of Scripture3:15-16Bathou tradition has no fixed written scripture; Brahma Dharma has its own 1912-era reform literature. Neither supplies a ready equivalent for a closed, divinely authoritative text; teach from the ground up.
2God-breathed / inspired by Godθεόπνευστος (theopneustos)ईश्वरनि सासजों गोदान जानायIsornni sasjw godan janaiCriticalNew (2 Timothy), provisionalInspiration & Sufficiency of Scripture3:16Must not be rendered with वाणी/deity-oracle vocabulary evoking a doudini’s channeled utterance during Kherai trance. Scripture is a fixed, complete, once-given revelation, not an ongoing oracular phenomenon. Confirm with Bodo-speaking theologian.
3sound doctrine / sound wordsὑγιαίνουσα διδασκαλία / ὑγιαίνοντες λόγοι (hygiainousa didaskalia / hygiainontes logoi)गेदेर सिक्षा / गेदेर रावgeder siksha / geder rangCriticalNew (2 Timothy), provisionalGuarding Sound Doctrine1:13; 4:3”Soundness” must be measured by conformity to the fixed apostolic deposit (see #6 below), never by what “feels” spiritually satisfying to hearers — directly relevant given 4:3’s itching-ears warning. Must recur identically at every occurrence across the curriculum.
4teaching / doctrineδιδασκαλία / διδαχή (didaskalia / didachē)सिक्षाsikshaMediumNew (2 Timothy)Guarding Sound Doctrine3:10, 3:16; 4:2Base term underlying “sound doctrine” (#3); keep identical across occurrences for learner consistency.
5teacherδιδάσκαλος (didaskalos)सिकाइग्राsikaigraMediumNew (2 Timothy)Guarding Sound Doctrine1:11; 4:3Agentive form of सिक्षा; distinguish “heaping up teachers” (4:3, negative) from Paul’s own legitimate appointment as teacher (1:11, positive).
6the deposit / that which is entrustedπαραθήκη (paratheke)सोंपनाय गुदि / बेसेन सोंपनाय गुदिsompnai gudi / besen sompnai gudiHighNew (2 Timothy), provisionalFaithful Transmission of the Gospel1:12, 1:14The gospel/apostolic teaching as a fixed trust to be guarded, not a fluid tradition open to revision. Caution: do not conflate with baseline’s forbidden रैखाथि (protection-from-misfortune) association attached to “salvation”; this term concerns guarding teaching, not securing personal well-being.
7to entrust / commit to another’s keepingπαρατίθεμαι / παραδίδωμι (paratithemai / paradidōmi)सोंपनायsompnaiHighNew (2 Timothy)Faithful Transmission of the Gospel2:2Root verb underlying #6; 2:2’s four-generation transmission chain (Paul→Timothy→faithful men→others) is this doctrine’s key proof text.
8faithful men / faithful peopleπιστοὶ ἄνθρωποι (pistoi anthrōpoi)बिश्वासी मानुषbiswasi manwswMediumNew (2 Timothy), built on baseline बिश्वासFaithful Transmission of the Gospel2:2Built directly on baseline’s “faith” entry.
9pattern of sound wordsὑποτύπωσις ὑγιαινόντων λόγων (hypotypōsis hygiainontōn logōn)सिकनि रूप (गेदेर रावनि)sikni rup (geder rangni)HighNew (2 Timothy), provisionalGuarding Sound Doctrine1:13Distinguish nuance from “sound doctrine” (#3): this is a fixed model of sayings to imitate, not a body of teaching content.
10suffering / hardshipκακοπάθεια / πάθημα (kakopatheia / pathēma)दुख सजायनाय / दुखdukh sajainai / dukhHighNew (2 Timothy)Perseverance under Suffering1:8; 2:3, 2:9; 3:11; 4:5Must not be read as misfortune requiring ritual appeasement of Bathoubwrai or the Kherai pantheon. Suffering-for-the-gospel is a calling, even an honor, not a condition to be ritually corrected.
11endurance / perseveranceὑπομονή / ὑπομένω (hypomonē / hypomenō)सहनायsahanaiHighNew (2 Timothy)Perseverance under Suffering2:10, 2:12; 3:10The letter’s programmatic perseverance term; reward (reigning with Christ) is tied to enduring, not to avoiding suffering. Use identically at every occurrence.
12persecutionδιωγμός (diōgmos)खेदायनायkhedainaiHighNew (2 Timothy)Perseverance under Suffering3:11-12Paired with the universal, unqualified promise “all who live godly … will suffer persecution” (3:12) — must not be softened, parallel to baseline’s protection of other universal claims.
13rescue / deliver (from immediate danger)ῥύομαι (rhyomai)बाचायनायbachainaiMediumNew (2 Timothy)Perseverance under Suffering3:11; 4:17-18MUST be kept distinct from फोरायनाय (baseline “salvation,” Critical, eternal/eschatological deliverance). Confusing the two risks flattening salvation into a this-worldly protection concept, the exact direction Bathou/Kherai protective ritual practice would naturally pull.
14last daysἔσχαται ἡμέραι (eschatai hēmerai)सिमानि सानsimani sanHighNew (2 Timothy)Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days3:1Neither Bathou tradition (no developed eschatology) nor Brahma Dharma’s reform-progress narrative supplies a ready parallel for a decisive final period before Christ’s return; teach from the ground up.
15apostasy / turning away from the truthἀποστρέφω / ἀφίστημι (apostrephō / aphistēmi)बिश्वासनि गारिनाय / सत्यखौनि खनाब सोलायनायbiswasni garinai / swtyokhwni khanab solainaiCriticalNew (2 Timothy), provisionalApostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days1:15; 4:4CAUTION: shares the root सोलायनाय with the baseline’s resurrection term (जिउनाय सोलायनाय); here it names a negative moral turning-away, there a positive turning-back-to-life. Curriculum materials must state this contrast explicitly to avoid learner confusion.
16myths / fablesμῦθος (mythos)मिथ्या गाथाmithya gathaHighNew (2 Timothy)Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days4:4Confine strictly to the false teaching Paul describes arising within the church; must never be applied wholesale to Bathou oral tradition’s own origin narratives about Bathoubwrai, which deserve respectful, non-polemical treatment.
17itching earsκνηθόμενοι τὴν ἀκοήν (knēthomenoi tēn akoēn)खनानि सोकनायkhanani soknaiMediumNew (2 Timothy), idiomApostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days4:3Idiom without ready Bodo equivalent; literal-ish rendering retained with explanatory gloss (“desire to hear only pleasant things”). Flag for native-speaker naturalness review.
18godlinessεὐσέβεια (eusebeia)ईश्वर-मानानायIsor-mananaiCriticalNew (2 Timothy), deliberate avoidance of भक्तिApostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days3:5, 3:12Deliberately avoids the Sanskrit loan भक्ति (“bhakti/devotion”) to prevent godliness being heard as a variety of Hindu bhakti-movement devotional practice, especially given Brahma Dharma’s own Sanskritized 1912 reform. Parallel in kind to baseline’s avoidance of बाथौबुरै for “God.”
19form (without substance)μόρφωσις (morphōsis)बाहिरनि रूपbahirni rupHighNew (2 Timothy)Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days3:5Must be taught as Paul’s critique of last-days corruption within the professing church, not a comparative-religion verdict on Bathou ritual or Brahma Dharma observance.
20deceivers / impostorsγόης (goēs)फुसला होग्राphusla hwgraMediumNew (2 Timothy)Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days3:13Possible (mis)association risk with ओझा-type folk-ritual figures (already flagged in baseline for “prophet”); here the emphasis is moral/doctrinal deception within the church.
21man of Godἄνθρωπος τοῦ θεοῦ (anthrōpos tou theou)ईश्वरनि मानुषIsornni manwswHighNew (2 Timothy)Inspiration & Sufficiency of Scripture3:17Risk of being heard as naming a specialist religious office parallel to the doudini, ओझा, or a Brahma Dharma-trained teacher. Must be taught as describing any Scripture-formed believer, not a specialist class.
22thoroughly equippedἐξηρτισμένος (exērtismenos)गोरोबनायgwrwbnaiMediumNew (2 Timothy)Inspiration & Sufficiency of Scripture3:17Shares a root with baseline’s rejected grace-alternative (दान गोरोबनाय, reciprocal gift); different collocation here (equipping for work, not reciprocal exchange), but flag for native-speaker confirmation of naturalness.
23I charge / solemnly chargeδιαμαρτύρομαι (diamartyromai)गम्भीर हुकुम होनायgombhir hukum honaiHighNew (2 Timothy)The Charge to Preach the Word4:1Must be distinguished from a doudini’s solemn ritual invocation formula during Kherai puja; this is Paul’s apostolic commission under the witness of the one true God and Christ.
24judge the living and the deadκρίνειν ζῶντας καὶ νεκρούς (krinein zōntas kai nekrous)जीबि आरो गोथाय मानुषखौ बिसारनायjibi aro gwthai manwshkhw bisaranaiCriticalNew (2 Timothy)The Charge to Preach the Word / Assurance of Reward4:1Must not be read as ancestor-spirits judging the living (cf. baseline’s रejected बुरहा-बुरही आत्था for Holy Spirit); Christ alone judges all. Must not be impersonal fate/karma-style reckoning.
25his appearingἐπιφάνεια (epiphaneia)प्रकाश जानायprokash janaiCriticalNew (2 Timothy)The Charge to Preach the Word / Assurance of Reward1:10; 4:1, 4:8Distinguish from doudini trance-radiance (cf. baseline’s caution on महिमा/glory) and from Bathou worship’s aniconic character (no embodied, visibly appearing deity in that tradition). Use identically at every occurrence.
26preach the wordκήρυξον τὸν λόγον (kēryxon ton logon)रावखौ सोमोन्दो होनायrawkhw somondo honaiHighNew (2 Timothy)The Charge to Preach the Word4:2Heraldic, authoritative public proclamation — not a doudini’s ritual utterance, not one private opinion among several in a pluralistic village setting.
27will not endure sound doctrineοὐκ ἀνέξονται (ouk anexontai)सहा नाजायोsaha najaiyoHighNew (2 Timothy)Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days4:3Reuses सहनाय (#11) negated; the inability to bear sound teaching is itself a symptom of last-days apostasy.
28be watchful / soberνήφω (nēphō)सजाग थानायsajag thanaiMediumNew (2 Timothy)The Charge to Preach the Word4:5
29evangelistεὐαγγελιστής (euangelistēs)मंगल खबर सोंग्राmangal khabor songraMediumNew (2 Timothy), built on baseline मंगल खबरThe Charge to Preach the Word4:5Built directly on baseline “gospel” (मंगल खबर, High); flag for native-speaker naturalness review of the agentive compound.
30fulfill (ministry)πληροφορέω (plērophoreō)पूरा होनायpura honaiLow-MediumNew (2 Timothy)The Charge to Preach the Word4:5
31ministry / serviceδιακονία (diakonia)सेवाsevaMediumNew (2 Timothy), matches doctrine registry patternThe Charge to Preach the Word4:5
32poured out (as a drink offering)σπένδομαι (spendomai)जिउ दानै बानायjiu danai banaiHighNew (2 Timothy)Perseverance under Suffering / Assurance of Reward4:6Distinguish sharply from literal, repeated Bathou/Kherai offerings made to secure divine favor; Paul’s “pouring out” is a one-time voluntary self-giving at the point of death, not a ritual transaction.
33fought the good fightτὸν καλὸν ἀγῶνα ἠγώνισμαι (ton kalon agōna ēgōnismai)बेसेन जुज खालामनायbesen juj khalamnaiHighNew (2 Timothy)Assurance of Reward4:7Retrospective confidence at life’s end; ground of coming reward, not anxious ongoing striving.
34finished the raceτὸν δρόμον τετέλεκα (ton dromon teteleka)देवनाय पूरा खालामनायdewnai pura khalamnaiMediumNew (2 Timothy)Assurance of Reward4:7
35kept the faithτὴν πίστιν τετήρηκα (tēn pistin tetērēka)बिश्वासखौ रैखा खालामनायbiswaskhw raikha khalamnaiHighNew (2 Timothy), built on baseline बिश्वासAssurance of Reward4:7
36crown of righteousnessστέφανος τῆς δικαιοσύνης (stephanos tēs dikaiosynēs)धार्मिकतानि मुकुटdharmikotani mukutCriticalNew (2 Timothy), built on baseline धार्मिकताAssurance of Reward4:8Inherits धार्मिकता’s Critical status. Must be taught as grace-given eschatological reward, never merit accumulated (guards against Brahma Dharma पुण्य-style reading) and never a ritual object exchanged with a deity (guards against Bathou/Kherai reciprocal-offering reading). Available to “all,” not a specialist reward.
37that Dayἐκείνη ἡ ἡμέρα (ekeinē hē hēmera)बे सानbe sanHighNew (2 Timothy)Assurance of Reward1:12, 1:18; 4:8Fixed eschatological reference to the day of Christ’s return/judgment; keep identical across occurrences.
38loveἀγάπη (agapē)मोसारनायmwsaranaiHighNew — absent from baseline TM despite Romans’ own use; added hereGuarding Sound Doctrine / general1:7; 2:22; 3:4; 4:8Must be distinguished both from mere family/clan affection and from any reciprocal-favor logic (parallel to the grace/merit collision risk already named in the baseline). Recommend cross-referencing with baseline’s “grace” entry in teaching notes.
39fear / timidityδειλία (deilia)भयbhoiMediumNew (2 Timothy)Perseverance under Suffering1:7Contrasted with सक्ति (power), मोसारनाय (love), गोसो थिरनाय (self-control) in the same verse — a compact, high-value teaching verse.
40self-control / sound mindσωφρονισμός (sōphronismos)गोसो थिरनायgwsw thirnaiMediumNew (2 Timothy)Perseverance under Suffering1:7
41laying on of handsἐπίθεσις τῶν χειρῶν (epithesis tōn cheirōn)आखाइ बोहायनायakhai bohainaiHighNew (2 Timothy)Faithful Transmission of the Gospel1:6Must be distinguished from any power-transfer gesture associated with a doudini’s or ओझा’s ritual practice; the Spirit’s gift is sovereignly given, symbolized (not magically caused) by the human gesture.
42not ashamedἐπαισχύνομαι (epaischynomai), negatedलाज खालामनाय गैयाlaj khalamnai gaiyaMediumNew (2 Timothy)Perseverance under Suffering1:8, 1:12, 1:16Flagged for native-speaker cultural-sensitivity review given the real social weight of honor/shame dynamics in Bodo social life.
43repentanceμετάνοια (metanoia)गुनाहजों फिन जानायgunahjw phin janaiHighNew — absent from baseline TM despite Romans’ own use (2:4); added hereApostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days2:25Must be taught as inward, moral turning of the whole person toward God, distinct from external ritual purification performed before Kherai/Bathou ceremonies to restore household/community harmony.
44knowledge of the truthἐπίγνωσις ἀληθείας (epignōsis alētheias)सत्यनि मिथिंगाswtyoni mithingaHighNew (2 Timothy)Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days2:25; 3:7Distinguish from a gnosis-style path of accumulated esoteric/reform-community knowledge; granted by God together with repentance, not achieved through independent study or ascetic discipline.
45the devilδιάβολος (diabolos)सैतानsaitanHighNew (2 Timothy)Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days2:26Singular, personal, malevolent adversary — distinct from the diffuse, morally ambiguous nature-spirits and ancestral spirits of the Bathou spirit-world, none of which functions as a unified personal tempter figure.
46rightly dividing / handling accuratelyὀρθοτομέω (orthotomeō)थार-थार बुझिनाय आरो होनायthar-thar bujinai aro honaiHighNew (2 Timothy), provisionalGuarding Sound Doctrine2:15Must not suggest a specialist’s exclusive interpretive authority resembling an ओझा’s or doudini’s privileged access to hidden meaning; available to any diligent, Scripture-taught believer.
47profane, empty chatterβέβηλος κενοφωνία (bebēlos kenophōnia)गैर-पबित्र रां-रोंथोनgoir-pobitro rang-rwnthwnHighNew (2 Timothy), built on baseline पबित्रGuarding Sound Doctrine2:16Deliberate contrast pair with “sound doctrine” (#3): false teaching’s character is irreverent and substance-less; sound teaching’s character is गेदेर (healthy/sound).
48spreading like gangreneγάγγραινα (gangraina)फैलाव जायनाय घाphailao jainai ghaMediumNew (2 Timothy)Guarding Sound Doctrine2:17Cultural/medical metaphor; flag for native-speaker review. Core point (false teaching doesn’t stay contained) must survive even if the specific medical image is adapted.
49the elect / chosenἐκλεκτός (eklektos)ईश्वरनि सायखा मानुषIsornni saikha manwswHighNew (2 Timothy), built on baseline “election”Assurance of Reward2:10Inherits baseline’s caution against भागी (impersonal fate) framing.
50if we deny Him, He will deny usἀρνέομαι (arneomai)नासे होनायnase honaiCriticalNew (2 Timothy)Assurance of Reward2:12Stark, symmetrical warning must be preserved in full force, not softened; the flip side of Assurance of Reward. Flag for human theologian review alongside the immediately following clause on God’s unconditional faithfulness.
51vessels of honor and dishonorσκεῦος εἰς τιμήν / ἀτιμίαν (skeuos eis timēn / atimian)आदोरनि/अनादोरनि बासोनadorni/anadorni basonMediumNew (2 Timothy)Guarding Sound Doctrine2:20-21Flag for native-speaker review given honor/shame’s cultural weight in Bodo social life.
52foundationθεμέλιος (themelios)बुनियादbuniyadMediumNew (2 Timothy)Assurance of Reward2:19
53sealσφραγίς (sphragis)छापchhapMediumNew (2 Timothy)Assurance of Reward2:19Ties to Assurance of Salvation, already Critical in the baseline.
54strengthened (by grace / by the Lord)ἐνδυναμόω (endynamoō)सक्तिजों गोहोम होनायsaktijw gwhwm honaiHighNew (2 Timothy), built on baseline सक्ति rootPerseverance under Suffering2:1; 4:17Inherits baseline caution: सक्ति must be kept categorically distinct from देउनि सक्ति (doudini’s Kherai-trance power).
55immortality / incorruptionἀφθαρσία (aphtharsia)अमर जिउamor jiuHighNew (2 Timothy)Inspiration & Sufficiency of Scripture (via 1:10’s gospel-context)1:10Must be distinguished from Brahma Dharma’s Hindu-influenced teaching on the soul’s inherent immortality across rebirth cycles (फिन जोनोम, already forbidden for “resurrection” in the baseline); here immortality is a gift disclosed through the gospel and grounded in Christ’s resurrection, not an innate migrating property of the soul.
56Saviorσωτήρ (sōtēr)फोरायग्राphoraygraCriticalNew (2 Timothy), built on baseline फोरायनायInspiration & Sufficiency of Scripture (via 1:10)1:10Inherits salvation’s Critical status; must never suggest a this-worldly protector-deity role of the kind sought from Bathoubwrai/the Kherai pantheon through offerings.

Cross-Cutting Risk Notes for Phase 2

  1. धार्मिकता-family terms (#3, #36) and देउनि सक्ति-adjacent terms (#54, #56, #24) remain the highest-density risk cluster in this letter, exactly as in the baseline Romans package — 2 Timothy repeatedly returns to righteousness, power, and salvation-adjacent vocabulary in its closing reward passages (4:6-8, 4:17-18).
  2. New terms absent from the baseline despite being foundational NT vocabulary — ἀγάπη/love (#38) and μετάνοια/repentance (#43) — must be added to the master translation memory going forward and flagged for theologian confirmation, since their absence from the Romans-only baseline was a gap in that package, not evidence of low risk.
  3. The Guarding Sound Doctrine cluster (#3, #4, #9, #46, #47) all depend on a single Bodo root, गेदेर (sound/healthy) or सिक्षा (teaching), and must be used with total consistency; any drift in rendering across lessons will visibly undercut the letter’s own central metaphor (healthy vs. diseased teaching, 2:17’s “gangrene” image).
  4. Idiom-flagged terms (#17 itching ears; #2:1’s “in season/out of season”) should be routed to native-speaker review per the AI Translation Requirements’ idiom-handling rule, with meaning-preservation prioritized over literal idiomatic mapping.
  5. Sacrificial/offering-metaphor terms (#32 poured out; #36 crown of righteousness) require explicit contrastive teaching against literal Bathou/Kherai ritual offering practice in every lesson where they occur — this is a recurring structural risk across the whole letter’s reward theology, not a one-off caution.

This glossary should be loaded alongside the baseline translation_memory.json and bible_term_registry.json before any Phase 2 segment translation of 2 Timothy begins, per the Pre-flight Checklist in 12_ai_translation_requirements.md.

Critical Risk Terms

God

Approved rendering: ईश्वर
Transliteration: Isor
Doctrine: Deity of Christ
Rejected alternatives: बाथौबुरै (never use as the primary term for the biblical God; reserve strictly for describing traditional Bathou belief)
Original: θεός
Category: God

Inherited from Romans package, copied exactly. Occurs throughout 2 Timothy (1:1-2, 3, 8; 2:9, 15, 19; 3:16-17; 4:1). Never use बाथौबुरै.

Lord

Approved rendering: प्रभु
Transliteration: probhu
Doctrine: Lordship of Christ
Rejected alternatives: बुरहा/बर’ऐ titles reserved for Bathoubwrai and Kherai-pantheon elder-deities, never use for Christ
Original: κύριος
Category: Christology

Inherited from Romans package, copied exactly. Among the most frequent terms in 2 Timothy: 1:2, 8, 16, 18; 2:1, 7, 14, 19, 22, 24; 4:1, 8, 14, 17, 18, 22. Never use बर’ऐ/बुरहा.

Jesus

Approved rendering: जिसु
Transliteration: Jisu
Doctrine: Lordship of Christ
Original: Ἰησοῦς
Category: Christology

Inherited from Romans package, copied exactly. Occurs throughout 2 Timothy (1:2, 9, 10; 2:1, 3, 8, 10; 4:1, 22). Verify against a current printed Bodo Bible copy.

Messiah

Approved rendering: मसीह
Transliteration: mosih
Doctrine: Messianic Promise
Original: Χριστός
Category: Christology

Inherited from Romans package, copied exactly. Occurs throughout 2 Timothy (1:1, 2, 9, 10, 13; 2:1, 3, 8, 10; 4:1).

Holy Spirit

Approved rendering: पबित्र आत्था
Transliteration: pobitro aatha
Doctrine: Sanctification
Rejected alternatives: देउ (a generic spirit-being from the Bathou/Kherai pantheon, never use), बुरहा-बुरही आत्था (ancestral household spirits venerated in traditional practice, never use)
Original: πνεῦμα ἅγιον
Category: God

Inherited from Romans package, copied exactly. Occurs at 2 Timothy 1:14 (‘guard the good deposit through the Holy Spirit’), making the Spirit the explicit enabling agent of Guarding Sound Doctrine. Always use the full compound; never bare देउ/आत्था.

Father

Approved rendering: आफा
Transliteration: afa
Doctrine: Adoption into God’s Family
Rejected alternatives: बाथौबुरै (reserve strictly for describing traditional belief, never for the biblical Father)
Original: πατήρ
Category: God

Inherited from Romans package, copied exactly. Occurs at 2 Timothy 1:2.

Grace

Approved rendering: मोफादांनाय दान
Transliteration: mwphwdangnai daan
Doctrine: Grace
Rejected alternatives: दान गोरोबनाय (a reciprocal gift expecting return offering, rejected), पुण्य (Brahma Dharma merit-language, never use)
Original: χάρις
Category: Salvation

Inherited from Romans package, copied exactly. Occurs at 2 Timothy 1:2, 9, 2:1, 4:22 — opening and closing the letter. 1:9 (‘not according to our works but according to His own purpose and grace’) is a direct parallel to the Critical grace-versus-works contrast the baseline names for Romans 4:4-5 and 11:5-6; the same forbidden-substitution rules apply without exception.

Resurrection

Approved rendering: जिउनाय सोलायनाय
Transliteration: jiunai solainai
Doctrine: Resurrection of Christ
Rejected alternatives: फिन जोनोम (rebirth into a new life-cycle, absorbed into Brahma Dharma from Hindu reincarnation teaching, never use)
Original: ἀνάστασις / ἐγείρω
Category: Christology

Inherited from Romans package, copied exactly. Occurs at 2 Timothy 2:8 (true creedal statement, render identically to its Romans 1:3-4 counterpart) and 2:18, where Hymenaeus and Philetus falsely teach the resurrection is ‘already past’ — a distinct proto-Gnostic over-spiritualizing error, not to be conflated with the फिन जोनोम caution.

Salvation

Approved rendering: फोरायनाय
Transliteration: phoraynai
Doctrine: Salvation
Rejected alternatives: मोक्ष (Brahma Dharma’s Hindu-derived liberation concept, never use), रैखाथि (protection from misfortune, never use as a stand-alone gloss for eternal salvation)
Original: σωτηρία
Category: Salvation

Inherited from Romans package, copied exactly. Occurs at 2 Timothy 1:9; 2:10; 3:15. Must be kept sharply distinct from this letter’s own this-life rescue vocabulary (see new term rescue_from_danger); confusing the two flattens eternal salvation into the this-worldly protection Bathou/Kherai ritual offerings are meant to secure.

Righteousness

Approved rendering: धार्मिकता
Transliteration: dharmikota
Doctrine: Salvation
Rejected alternatives: धर्म (avoid the bare Sanskritic sense of cosmic duty imported through Brahma Dharma reform teaching)
Original: δικαιοσύνη
Category: Salvation

Inherited from Romans package, copied exactly. Occurs at 2 Timothy 2:22, 3:16 (‘training in righteousness’), 4:8 (‘crown of righteousness’). 3:16 and 4:8 are exceptionally vulnerable to a disciplined-conduct or merit-earned-reward misreading.

God Breathed

Approved rendering: ईश्वरनि सासजों गोदान जानाय
Transliteration: Isornni sasjw godan janai
Doctrine: Inspiration and Sufficiency of Scripture
Rejected alternatives: वाणी / देउ-वाणी style oracular-utterance vocabulary evoking a doudini’s channeled speech during Kherai trance, never use
Original: θεόπνευστος
Category: Scripture

PROVISIONAL, pending Bodo-speaking theologian confirmation. Occurs 3:16, a unique NT coinage (θεόπνευστος). Bathou tradition has no scripture at all, so there is no rival category to correct — only a category to build. Scripture is a fixed, once-given, complete written revelation, not an ongoing oracular phenomenon.

Sound Doctrine

Approved rendering: गेदेर सिक्षा
Transliteration: geder siksha
Doctrine: Guarding Sound Doctrine
Original: ὑγιαίνουσα διδασκαλία
Category: Scripture

PROVISIONAL, pending theologian confirmation. Occurs 1:13 (‘pattern of sound words’) and 4:3. Must recur identically at every occurrence. ‘Soundness’ must be measured by conformity to the fixed apostolic deposit, never by whether teaching feels spiritually satisfying to hearers — the exact danger 4:3’s itching-ears warning names.

Turning Away From Truth

Approved rendering: सत्यखौनि खनाब सोलायनाय
Transliteration: swtyokhwni khanab solainai
Doctrine: Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days
Original: ἀποστρέφω
Category: Apostasy

PROVISIONAL. Occurs 1:15 (personal abandonment of Paul) and 4:4 (doctrinal apostasy). CAUTION: shares the root सोलायनाय with the baseline’s resurrection term (जिउनाय सोलायनाय) — here a negative moral turning-away, there a positive turning-back-to-life. This contrast must be stated explicitly in every lesson using either term.

Godliness

Approved rendering: ईश्वर-मानानाय
Transliteration: Isor-mananai
Doctrine: Godliness and True Devotion
Rejected alternatives: भक्ति (deliberately avoided: carries strong Hindu bhakti-devotional-movement associations, sharpened by Brahma Dharma’s 1912 Sanskritized reform; never use)
Original: εὐσέβεια
Category: Apostasy

New term (2 Timothy), deliberate avoidance of भक्ति. Occurs 3:5, 3:12. This avoidance parallels the baseline’s deliberate avoidance of बाथौबुरै for ‘God’ and should be named explicitly in teacher notes so a future translator does not silently ‘correct’ it back to भक्ति.

Judge Living And Dead

Approved rendering: जीबि आरो गोथाय मानुषखौ बिसारनाय
Transliteration: jibi aro gwthai manwshkhw bisaranai
Doctrine: Divine Judgment and Christ’s Return
Original: κρίνειν ζῶντας καὶ νεκρούς
Category: Christology

New term (2 Timothy). Occurs 4:1. Two collision risks: (1) must not be read as ancestor-spirits judging the living, given Bodo ancestral veneration (cf. baseline’s rejected बुरहा-बुरही आत्था); the text teaches the reverse. (2) Must be Christ’s own exclusive, personal, moral authority, never an impersonal fate/karma-style reckoning.

His Appearing

Approved rendering: प्रकाश जानाय
Transliteration: prokash janai
Doctrine: Divine Judgment and Christ’s Return
Original: ἐπιφάνεια
Category: Christology

New term (2 Timothy). Occurs 1:10 (first appearing/incarnation), 4:1 and 4:8 (future appearing/return). Must be distinguished from (a) a doudini’s Kherai-trance radiance and (b) Bathou worship’s aniconic character (no embodied, visibly appearing deity in that tradition). Use identically at every occurrence.

Savior

Approved rendering: फोरायग्रा
Transliteration: phoraygra
Doctrine: Salvation
Original: σωτήρ
Category: Christology

New term (2 Timothy), built on the baseline’s Critical फोरायनाय root. Occurs 1:10. Must never suggest a this-worldly protector-deity role of the kind traditionally sought from Bathoubwrai or the wider Kherai pantheon through offerings.

Crown Of Righteousness

Approved rendering: धार्मिकतानि मुकुट
Transliteration: dharmikotani mukut
Doctrine: Assurance of Reward
Original: στέφανος τῆς δικαιοσύνης
Category: Reward

New term (2 Timothy), built on the baseline’s Critical धार्मिकता. Occurs 4:8. Must be taught as a grace-given eschatological reward for a life of faith and perseverance — never merit accumulated (guards against Brahma Dharma पुण्य) and never a ritual-exchange object (guards against Bathou/Kherai reciprocal-offering logic). Explicitly available to ‘all,’ not an elite few.

Deny Him

Approved rendering: नासे होनाय
Transliteration: nase honai
Doctrine: Assurance of Reward
Original: ἀρνέομαι
Category: Reward

New term (2 Timothy). Occurs 2:12. The stark, symmetrical warning (‘if we deny Him, He will also deny us’) must be preserved in full force, not softened; must be taught alongside 2:13’s statement of God’s unconditional faithfulness without collapsing the tension between the two.

High Risk Terms

Faith

Approved rendering: बिश्वास
Transliteration: biswas
Doctrine: Faith
Rejected alternatives: भरोसा (generic trust, too weak alone)
Original: πίστις
Category: Faith

Inherited from Romans package, copied exactly. Occurs at 2 Timothy 1:5, 13; 2:18, 22; 3:8, 10, 15; 4:7. At 1:5 explicitly a trans-generational inheritance (Lois, Eunice, Timothy); at 4:7 Paul’s own settled, guarded possession at life’s end. Object of बिश्वास must always be recoverable from context.

Gospel

Approved rendering: मंगल खबर
Transliteration: mangal khabor
Doctrine: Gospel
Rejected alternatives: सुसमाचार (Hindi loan, avoid as default; retain only as an explanatory gloss)
Original: εὐαγγέλιον
Category: Salvation

Inherited from Romans package, copied exactly. Occurs at 2 Timothy 1:8, 10; 2:8.

Holy

Approved rendering: पबित्र
Transliteration: pobitro
Doctrine: Sanctification
Rejected alternatives: साफ (physically clean, ritual-purity sense only)
Original: ἅγιος
Category: Sanctification

Inherited from Romans package, copied exactly. Occurs at 2 Timothy 1:9 (‘holy calling’).

Calling

Approved rendering: फिनायनि सिम
Transliteration: phinaini sim
Doctrine: Divine Calling
Original: κλῆσις
Category: Salvation

Inherited from Romans package, copied exactly. Occurs at 2 Timothy 1:9, stacked with फोरायनाय and पबित्र in a single clause describing effectual calling ‘not according to our works.‘

Glory

Approved rendering: महिमा
Transliteration: mohima
Doctrine: Deity of Christ
Original: δόξα
Category: God

Inherited from Romans package, copied exactly. Occurs at 2 Timothy 2:10 (‘eternal glory’) and 4:18 (doxology). Avoid metaphors colliding with a doudini’s Kherai-trance radiance.

Seed Of David

Approved rendering: दाऊदनि बेंसे
Transliteration: Daudni bense
Doctrine: Davidic Covenant
Original: σπέρμα Δαυίδ
Category: Christology

Inherited from Romans package, copied exactly. Occurs at 2 Timothy 2:8, in a compressed creedal statement functionally parallel to Romans 1:3-4; render identically per cross-document consistency rule.

Power Of God

Approved rendering: ईश्वरनि सक्ति
Transliteration: Isornni sakti
Doctrine: Power of God for Salvation
Rejected alternatives: देउनि सक्ति (spirit/deity power as manifested through a doudini’s trance, avoid as a substitute)
Original: δύναμις
Category: God

Inherited from Romans package; root सक्ति reused. Occurs at 2 Timothy 1:7-8 (contrasted with ‘a spirit of fear’) and 3:5 (‘denying its power’). सक्ति must never appear bare; always qualify with ईश्वरनि/पबित्र आत्थानि.

Election

Approved rendering: ईश्वरनि सायख
Transliteration: Isornni saikho
Doctrine: Effectual Calling
Rejected alternatives: भागी (fate/fortune, too impersonal)
Original: ἐκλογή / ἐκλεκτός
Category: Salvation

Inherited from Romans package; root reused. Occurs at 2 Timothy 2:10, extended as ‘the elect’ (see new term the_elect). Must never be rendered with भागी.

Scripture

Approved rendering: पबित्र सास्त्र
Transliteration: pobitro sastro
Doctrine: Inspiration and Sufficiency of Scripture
Original: γραφή / ἱερὰ γράμματα
Category: Scripture

New term (2 Timothy). Occurs 3:15-16. Bathou tradition has no fixed written scripture (oral/ritual only); Brahma Dharma has its own 1912-era reform literature. A closed, divinely authoritative text corpus must be taught as a genuinely new category, not assimilated to either.

Sound Words

Approved rendering: सिकनि रूप (गेदेर रावनि)
Transliteration: sikni rup (geder rangni)
Doctrine: Guarding Sound Doctrine
Original: ὑποτύπωσις ὑγιαινόντων λόγων
Category: Scripture

PROVISIONAL. Occurs 1:13. Distinguish from ‘sound doctrine’ (a body of teaching content): this is a fixed model/pattern of sayings to imitate.

Man Of God

Approved rendering: ईश्वरनि मानुष
Transliteration: Isornni manwsw
Doctrine: Inspiration and Sufficiency of Scripture
Original: ὁ τοῦ θεοῦ ἄνθρωπος
Category: Scripture

New term (2 Timothy). Occurs 3:17. Risk of being heard as a recognized religious-specialist office (parallel to the doudini, ओझा, or a Brahma Dharma-trained teacher). Must be taught as describing any Scripture-formed believer, male or female, not a specialist class.

Deposit

Approved rendering: सोंपनाय गुदि
Transliteration: sompnai gudi
Doctrine: Faithful Transmission of the Gospel
Original: παραθήκη
Category: Transmission

PROVISIONAL. Occurs 1:12, 1:14 (‘the good deposit,’ बेसेन सोंपनाय गुदि). Caution: do not conflate with the baseline’s forbidden रैखाथि (protection-from-misfortune) association attached to salvation; this concerns guarding fixed teaching content, not securing personal well-being through ritual.

Entrust

Approved rendering: सोंपनाय
Transliteration: sompnai
Doctrine: Faithful Transmission of the Gospel
Original: παρατίθεμαι
Category: Transmission

New term (2 Timothy). Occurs 2:2, the letter’s key proof text for a four-generation transmission chain (Paul -> Timothy -> faithful men -> others also). Recur identically wherever deposit-vocabulary occurs.

Laying On Of Hands

Approved rendering: आखाइ बोहायनाय
Transliteration: akhai bohainai
Doctrine: Faithful Transmission of the Gospel
Original: ἐπίθεσις τῶν χειρῶν
Category: Transmission

New term (2 Timothy). Occurs 1:6. Must be distinguished from any power-transfer gesture associated with a doudini’s or ओझा’s ritual practice; the Spirit’s gift is sovereignly given by God, only symbolized (never magically caused) by the human gesture.

Faithful Saying

Approved rendering: बिश्वासजाब्ला राव
Transliteration: biswasjabla rang
Doctrine: Faithful Transmission of the Gospel
Original: πιστὸς ὁ λόγος
Category: Transmission

New term (2 Timothy), built on baseline बिश्वास. Fixed, memorized creedal formula (πιστὸς ὁ λόγος) introducing 2:11b-13. Fix rendering now for forward compatibility with a broader Pastoral Epistles curriculum.

Preach The Word

Approved rendering: रावखौ सोमोन्दो होनाय
Transliteration: rawkhw somondo honai
Doctrine: The Charge to Preach the Word
Original: κήρυξον τὸν λόγον
Category: Ministry

New term (2 Timothy). Occurs 4:2, the central command of the doctrine. Must convey heraldic, authoritative public proclamation — not a doudini’s ritual utterance, nor one private opinion among several in a pluralistic village setting.

Suffering Hardship

Approved rendering: दुख सजायनाय
Transliteration: dukh sajainai
Doctrine: Perseverance under Suffering
Original: κακοπάθεια / πάθημα
Category: Perseverance

New term (2 Timothy). Occurs 1:8, 2:3, 2:9, 3:11, 4:5. Must not be read as misfortune or ritual impurity requiring appeasement of Bathoubwrai or the Kherai pantheon; suffering-for-the-gospel is a calling, even an honor (1:12), not a condition needing ritual correction.

Endurance Perseverance

Approved rendering: सहनाय
Transliteration: sahanai
Doctrine: Perseverance under Suffering
Original: ὑπομονή / ὑπομένω
Category: Perseverance

New term (2 Timothy). Occurs 2:10, 2:12, 3:10. The letter’s programmatic perseverance term; reward (reigning with Christ, 2:12) is tied to enduring, not to avoiding suffering. Use identically at every occurrence.

Persecution

Approved rendering: खेदायनाय
Transliteration: khedainai
Doctrine: Perseverance under Suffering
Original: διωγμός
Category: Perseverance

New term (2 Timothy). Occurs 3:11-12, paired with the universal, unqualified promise ‘all who live godly…will suffer persecution’ — must not be softened, parallel to the baseline’s protection of other universal claims.

Strengthened By Grace

Approved rendering: सक्तिजों गोहोम होनाय
Transliteration: saktijw gwhwm honai
Doctrine: Perseverance under Suffering
Original: ἐνδυναμόω
Category: Perseverance

New term (2 Timothy), built on the सक्ति root. Occurs 2:1 (Timothy exhorted to be strengthened) and 4:17 (Paul himself strengthened by the Lord when abandoned) — a deliberate pastoral parallel. सक्ति must be kept categorically distinct from देउनि सक्ति.

Good Fight

Approved rendering: बेसेन जुज खालामनाय
Transliteration: besen juj khalamnai
Doctrine: Assurance of Reward
Original: τὸν καλὸν ἀγῶνα ἠγώνισμαι
Category: Reward

New term (2 Timothy). Occurs 4:7. Retrospective confidence at life’s end, the ground of coming reward, not ongoing anxious striving; render with warm, settled tone within formal register.

Poured Out As Offering

Approved rendering: जिउ दानै बानाय
Transliteration: jiu danai banai
Doctrine: Assurance of Reward
Original: σπένδομαι
Category: Reward

New term (2 Timothy). Occurs 4:6. Sharply distinguish from literal, currently-practiced Bathou/Kherai libation-type offerings made to secure divine favor; Paul’s ‘pouring out’ is a one-time, voluntary self-giving at the point of death, not a repeated ritual transaction.

Last Days

Approved rendering: सिमानि सान
Transliteration: simani san
Doctrine: Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days
Original: ἔσχαται ἡμέραι
Category: Apostasy

New term (2 Timothy). Occurs 3:1. Neither Bathou tradition (no developed eschatology) nor Brahma Dharma’s reform-progress narrative (moving in the opposite direction, toward restoration) supplies a ready parallel; teach from the ground up.

Myths

Approved rendering: मिथ्या गाथा
Transliteration: mithya gatha
Doctrine: Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days
Original: μῦθος
Category: Apostasy

New term (2 Timothy). Occurs 4:4. Must be confined strictly to the false teaching Paul describes arising within the church; must never be applied wholesale to Bathou oral tradition’s own origin narratives about Bathoubwrai or the sijou plant, which deserve respectful, non-polemical treatment.

Form Without Power

Approved rendering: बाहिरनि रूप
Transliteration: bahirni rup
Doctrine: Godliness and True Devotion
Original: μόρφωσις εὐσεβείας
Category: Apostasy

New term (2 Timothy). Occurs 3:5. Must be taught as Paul’s critique of last-days corruption within the professing Christian community, never as a comparative-religion verdict on Bathou ritual practice or Brahma Dharma reform observance.

Repentance

Approved rendering: गुनाहजों फिन जानाय
Transliteration: gunahjw phin janai
Doctrine: Repentance and Restoration
Original: μετάνοια
Category: Apostasy

New term — absent from the baseline Romans package despite Romans’ own use (2:4); added here for 2 Timothy. Occurs 2:25. Must be taught as inward, moral turning of the whole person toward God, distinct from the external household/courtyard ritual purification performed before Kherai and other Bathou ceremonies.

Knowledge Of Truth

Approved rendering: सत्यनि मिथिंगा
Transliteration: swtyoni mithinga
Doctrine: Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days
Original: ἐπίγνωσις ἀληθείας
Category: Apostasy

New term (2 Timothy). Occurs 2:25, 3:7. Must be distinguished from a gnosis-style path of accumulated esoteric or reform-community knowledge; granted by God together with repentance, not achieved through independent study or ascetic discipline.

The Devil

Approved rendering: सैतान
Transliteration: saitan
Doctrine: Spiritual Warfare against the Devil
Original: διάβολος
Category: Apostasy

New term (2 Timothy). Occurs 2:26. Must be presented as a singular, personal, malevolent adversary — distinct from the diffuse, morally ambiguous nature-spirits and ancestral spirits of the Bathou spirit-world, none of which functions as a unified personal tempter figure.

Solemn Charge

Approved rendering: गम्भीर हुकुम होनाय
Transliteration: gombhir hukum honai
Doctrine: The Charge to Preach the Word
Original: διαμαρτύρομαι
Category: Ministry

New term (2 Timothy). Occurs 4:1, launching the doctrine. Must be distinguished from a doudini’s solemn ritual invocation formula during Kherai puja; this is Paul’s personal apostolic commission under the witness of the one true God and Christ, not a ritual incantation.

Immortality

Approved rendering: अमर जिउ
Transliteration: amor jiu
Doctrine: Inspiration and Sufficiency of Scripture
Rejected alternatives: फिन जोनोम (already forbidden for resurrection; must not be extended here to immortality)
Original: ἀφθαρσία
Category: Christology

New term (2 Timothy). Occurs 1:10. Must be distinguished from Brahma Dharma’s Hindu-influenced teaching on the soul’s inherent immortality across rebirth cycles; here immortality is a gift newly disclosed through the gospel, grounded in Christ’s own resurrection, not an innate migrating property of the soul.

Love

Approved rendering: मोसारनाय
Transliteration: mwsaranai
Doctrine: Godliness and True Devotion
Original: ἀγάπη
Category: Faith

New term — absent from the baseline Romans package despite Romans’ own extensive use (agape); added here for 2 Timothy. Occurs 1:7, 2:22, 3:4, 4:8. Must be distinguished both from mere family/clan affection and from any reciprocal-favor logic paralleling the grace/merit collision risk; cross-reference with the ‘grace’ entry in teaching notes.

Mercy

Approved rendering: दैया
Transliteration: doiya
Doctrine: Grace
Original: ἔλεος
Category: God

New term (2 Timothy). Occurs 1:2, in the salutation’s triad grace-mercy-peace. Overlaps conceptually with grace’s unmerited-favor logic and must be guarded against the same two collision risks named for grace: reciprocal Bathou/Kherai ritual exchange and Brahma Dharma merit-accumulation. Teach alongside मोफादांनाय दान as a linked pair.

That Day

Approved rendering: बे सान
Transliteration: be san
Doctrine: Assurance of Reward
Original: ἐκείνη ἡ ἡμέρα
Category: Reward

New term (2 Timothy). Occurs 1:12, 1:18, 4:8. Fixed eschatological reference to the day of Christ’s return/judgment; keep identical across all occurrences.

Rightly Dividing

Approved rendering: थार-थार बुझिनाय आरो होनाय
Transliteration: thar-thar bujinai aro honai
Doctrine: Guarding Sound Doctrine
Original: ὀρθοτομέω
Category: Scripture

PROVISIONAL. Occurs 2:15. Must not suggest a specialist’s exclusive interpretive authority resembling an ओझा’s or doudini’s privileged access to hidden meaning; available to any diligent, Scripture-taught believer (cf. ‘man of God,’ 3:17).

Profane Empty Chatter

Approved rendering: गैर-पबित्र रां-रोंथोन
Transliteration: goir-pobitro rang-rwnthwn
Doctrine: Guarding Sound Doctrine
Original: βέβηλος κενοφωνία
Category: Scripture

New term (2 Timothy), built on baseline पबित्र (negated). Occurs 2:16. Deliberate contrast pair with ‘sound doctrine’: false teaching’s character is irreverent and substance-less; sound teaching’s character is गेदेर (healthy/sound).

The Elect

Approved rendering: ईश्वरनि सायखा मानुष
Transliteration: Isornni saikha manwsw
Doctrine: Effectual Calling and Election
Original: ἐκλεκτός
Category: Salvation

New term (2 Timothy), built on the baseline’s ‘election’ entry. Occurs 2:10. Inherits the baseline’s caution against भागी (impersonal fate) framing.

Repay According To Works

Approved rendering: खामानि जाबग्रा दानाय
Transliteration: khamani jabgra danai
Doctrine: Divine Judgment and Christ’s Return

New term (2 Timothy). Occurs 4:14 (‘the Lord will repay him according to his works’). Judicial recompense reserved to the Lord alone; must not be taught as license for personal vengeance-seeking. Link to 4:1’s judgment doctrine and to Assurance of Reward’s positive counterpart.

Medium Risk Terms

Apostle

Approved rendering: गोदान जायगारि
Transliteration: godan jaigari
Doctrine: Apostleship
Rejected alternatives: दूत (generic messenger, too weak)
Original: ἀπόστολος
Category: Ministry

Inherited from Romans package, copied exactly. Occurs at 2 Timothy 1:1, 1:11.

Peace

Approved rendering: सान्ति
Transliteration: santi

Inherited from Romans package, copied exactly. Occurs at 2 Timothy 1:2, 2:22.

Kingdom Of God

Approved rendering: ईश्वरनि राज्य
Transliteration: Isornni rajyo
Doctrine: Kingdom Mission
Original: βασιλεία
Category: Reward

Inherited from Romans package; adapted for 2 Timothy 4:1 (‘his kingdom,’ बिनि राज्य, referring to Christ) and 4:18 (‘his heavenly kingdom,’ सुबुंगनि राज्य). Must be distinguished from territorial-political framing given the Bodoland Territorial Region’s own contemporary politics.

Gentiles

Approved rendering: गैर-जुथुद
Transliteration: goir-juthud
Doctrine: Unity of Jews and Gentiles
Original: ἔθνη
Category: Church

Inherited from Romans package, copied exactly. Occurs at 2 Timothy 4:17 (‘that all the Gentiles might hear’); frame as the church’s own ongoing calling, not a colonial-era foreign mission project.

Spiritual Gifts

Approved rendering: आत्मानि दान
Transliteration: aatmani daan
Doctrine: Spiritual Gifts
Rejected alternatives: सक्ति (a generic supernatural power associated with the doudini’s trance abilities, avoid as a substitute)
Original: χάρισμα
Category: Ministry

Inherited from Romans package, copied exactly. Occurs at 2 Timothy 1:6, specifically the gift received ‘through the laying on of my hands,’ tying spiritual-gifts vocabulary to ordination.

Teaching Doctrine

Approved rendering: सिक्षा
Transliteration: siksha
Doctrine: Guarding Sound Doctrine
Original: διδασκαλία / διδαχή
Category: Scripture

New term (2 Timothy). Occurs 3:10, 3:16, 4:2. Base term underlying ‘sound doctrine’; keep identical across occurrences for learner consistency.

Teacher

Approved rendering: सिकाइग्रा
Transliteration: sikaigra
Doctrine: Guarding Sound Doctrine
Original: διδάσκαλος
Category: Ministry

New term (2 Timothy). Occurs 1:11 (Paul’s legitimate appointment) and 4:3 (false teachers ‘heaped up’ by itching ears). The same headword carries both positive and negative referents; distinguish the referent, not the term.

Thoroughly Equipped

Approved rendering: गोरोबनाय
Transliteration: gwrwbnai
Doctrine: Inspiration and Sufficiency of Scripture
Original: ἐξηρτισμένος
Category: Scripture

New term (2 Timothy). Occurs 3:17. Shares a root with the baseline’s rejected grace-alternative (दान गोरोबनाय, reciprocal gift); this is a different, non-transactional collocation, but flag for native-speaker naturalness confirmation.

Faithful Men

Approved rendering: बिश्वासी मानुष
Transliteration: biswasi manwsw
Doctrine: Faithful Transmission of the Gospel
Original: πιστοὶ ἄνθρωποι
Category: Transmission

New term (2 Timothy), built on baseline बिश्वास. Occurs 2:2. Must be taught as a general pattern of gospel-faithful transmission, not a specific ecclesial-office chain.

Evangelist

Approved rendering: मंगल खबर सोंग्रा
Transliteration: mangal khabor songra
Doctrine: The Charge to Preach the Word
Original: εὐαγγελιστής
Category: Ministry

New term (2 Timothy), built directly on the baseline’s High-risk ‘gospel’ term मंगल खबर. Occurs 4:5. Flag for native-speaker naturalness review of the agentive compound.

Rescue From Danger

Approved rendering: बाचायनाय
Transliteration: bachainai
Doctrine: Perseverance under Suffering
Original: ῥύομαι
Category: Perseverance

New term (2 Timothy). Occurs 3:11; 4:17-18. MUST be kept distinct from फोरायनाय (baseline salvation, Critical, eternal deliverance). Confusing the two flattens salvation into the this-worldly protection concept Bathou/Kherai ritual practice is oriented toward.

Not Ashamed

Approved rendering: लाज खालामनाय गैया
Transliteration: laj khalamnai gaiya
Doctrine: Perseverance under Suffering
Original: ἐπαισχύνομαι
Category: Perseverance

New term (2 Timothy). Occurs 1:8, 1:12, 1:16. Flagged for native-speaker cultural-sensitivity review given the genuine social weight of honor/shame dynamics in Bodo social life.

Fear Timidity

Approved rendering: भय
Transliteration: bhoi
Doctrine: Perseverance under Suffering
Original: δειλία
Category: Perseverance

New term (2 Timothy). Occurs 1:7, contrasted in the same verse with सक्ति, मोसारनाय, and गोसो थिरनाय — a compact, high-value teaching verse.

Self Control

Transliteration: gwsw thirnai
Doctrine: Perseverance under Suffering
Original: σωφρονισμός
Category: Perseverance

New term (2 Timothy). Occurs 1:7.

Approved rendering: खनानि सोकनाय
Transliteration: khanani soknai
Doctrine: Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days
Original: κνηθόμενοι τὴν ἀκοήν
Category: Apostasy

New term (2 Timothy), idiom. Occurs 4:3. No ready Bodo equivalent; a fairly literal rendering is retained with an explanatory gloss (‘a desire to hear only pleasant things’). Flag for native-speaker naturalness review.

Deceivers Impostors

Approved rendering: फुसला होग्रा
Transliteration: phusla hwgra
Doctrine: Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days
Original: γόης
Category: Apostasy

New term (2 Timothy). Occurs 3:13. Possible (mis)association risk with ओझा-type folk-ritual figures already flagged in the baseline for ‘prophet’; here the emphasis is moral/doctrinal deception within the professing church.

Vessels Honor Dishonor

Approved rendering: आदोरनि/अनादोरनि बासोन
Transliteration: adorni/anadorni bason
Doctrine: Guarding Sound Doctrine
Original: σκεῦος εἰς τιμήν / ἀτιμίαν

Transliteration: buniyad / chhap
Doctrine: Assurance of Reward
Original: θεμέλιος / σφραγίς
Category: Reward

New term (2 Timothy). Occurs 2:19. Ties conceptually to Assurance of Salvation, already Critical in the baseline.

Transliteration: phailao jainai gha
Doctrine: Guarding Sound Doctrine
Original: γάγγραινα

New term (2 Timothy). Occurs 2:17. Cultural/medical metaphor; flag for native-speaker review. The core point (false teaching does not stay contained) must survive even if the specific medical image is adapted.

Will Of God

Approved rendering: ईश्वरनि सोंथाय
Transliteration: Isornni sonthai
Doctrine: Effectual Calling and Election

New term (2 Timothy). Occurs 1:1 (‘by the will of God’). Should reinforce, not compete with, baseline’s providence (ईश्वरनि सामलानाय) and election (ईश्वरनि सायख) vocabulary; God’s purposive agency, never impersonal भागी (fate).

Ministry Service

Approved rendering: सेवा
Transliteration: seva
Doctrine: The Charge to Preach the Word

New term (2 Timothy), matching the baseline doctrine registry’s Christ-Centered Ministry pattern (मसीह-थानि सेवा). Occurs 4:5 (‘fulfill your ministry’).
