Cross-Reference Analysis
Cross-Reference and Theme Analysis — Colossians, Marathi Destination Language
Purpose and Method
This document traces every Old Testament quotation and allusion, every messianic reference, every typological pattern, and every parallel to the Romans curriculum (already translated in the Marathi Language Package) across the full text of Colossians, chapter by chapter. Citations use normalized English form (Book Chapter:Verse, e.g., Genesis 15:6) as the primary reference key, paired with the established Marathi Bible citation form (per 12_ai_translation_requirements.md’s Cross-Reference Preservation Rules) for direct use in Phase 2 output. Where a rendering-consistency obligation exists with a Romans passage already governed by the baseline Language Package, this is flagged explicitly with a rule.
Connection type key: Quotation (direct OT wording cited), Allusion (clear but non-verbatim echo), Typology (a person/institution/event in the OT prefigures Christ or the church), Messianic (a specific OT messianic-promise text), Romans Parallel (a passage in the Romans curriculum treating the same doctrine, term, or near-identical wording).
PART A — Chapter-by-Chapter Cross-Reference Matrix
Chapter 1
| Colossians Passage | Marathi Citation | Theme | Related Character(s) | OT/NT Connection | Connection Type | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Colossians 1:13 | कलस्सैकरांस पत्र 1:13 | Deliverance from darkness into the Son’s kingdom | Christ; Israel (corporate) | Exodus 6:6; Exodus 14:30 | Typology (Exodus deliverance) | Medium — render “domain of darkness” (अंधाराचा अधिकार) so the deliverance reads as a Passover-like rescue accomplished by God, not a self-attained liberation (guard against मोक्ष/मुक्ती collision already established in Romans TM for salvation) |
| Colossians 1:14 | कलस्सैकरांस पत्र 1:14 | Redemption, forgiveness of sins | Christ | Exodus 6:6 (redemption by a mighty arm); Leviticus 25:47-49 (kinsman-redeemer/ransom pattern) | Typology (redemption) | Critical — see 08_core_glossary.md entry for अपोलिट्रोसिस; ensure खंडणी भरून झालेली सुटका is used, never मुक्ती/उद्धार alone |
| Colossians 1:15 | कलस्सैकरांस पत्र 1:15 | Christ as Image of God; Supremacy over Creation | Christ; Adam (typological contrast) | Genesis 1:26-27 (उत्पत्ति 1:26-27); Psalm 89:27 (स्तोत्रसंहिता 89:27) | Typology (Adam); Messianic (Davidic rank-firstborn) | Critical — प्रतिमा must never read as मूर्ती; प्रथमजात must always carry the rank/inheritance clause, never birth-order. Romans Parallel: Romans 5:12-21 (Adam-Christ typology) — the Adam contrast implicit here must use language compatible with however “Adam” and “one man’s sin/one man’s righteousness” is rendered in the Romans 5 output, so students perceive the same typological pattern across both letters |
| Colossians 1:16 | कलस्सैकरांस पत्र 1:16 | Christ as Creator and Sustainer of all things, including cosmic powers | Christ; personified Wisdom (background) | Genesis 1:1 (उत्पत्ति 1:1); Proverbs 8:22-31 (नीतिसूत्रे 8:22-31, Wisdom present at creation) | Allusion (Wisdom Christology); Creation theology | High — cosmic-powers list (सिंहासने/प्रभुत्वे/सत्ता/अधिकार) must retain the “through him and for him” frame so it does not read as a parallel cosmology of spirits to be managed |
| Colossians 1:17 | कलस्सैकरांस पत्र 1:17 | Christ sustains/holds together all things | Christ | Nehemiah 9:6 (नहेम्या 9:6, God gives life to all and the host of heaven worships him) | Allusion | Medium-High — Romans Parallel: Romans 8:28 (देवाचे विधान, Providence doctrine) — this verse is the cosmic-scale counterpart to Romans 8:28’s personal-scale providence; both must avoid impersonal karmic-law framing per the Romans doctrine registry’s explicit caution |
| Colossians 1:18 | कलस्सैकरांस पत्र 1:18 | Christ Head of the Church; Firstborn from the dead | Christ | Psalm 89:27 (rank-firstborn, again); Exodus 4:22 (निर्गम 4:22, Israel as God’s firstborn son — corporate typology) | Typology (Israel-firstborn); Resurrection doctrine | Critical — [REUSE ROMANS TM] पुनरुत्थान. Romans Parallel: none direct in Romans text, but consistency with Romans’ established resurrection vocabulary is mandatory |
| Colossians 1:19 | कलस्सैकरांस पत्र 1:19 | Fullness of Deity dwelling in Christ | Christ | Exodus 25:8 (निर्गम 25:8, tabernacle indwelling); 1 Kings 8:27 (1 राजे 8:27, temple dedication); Psalm 68:16 (स्तोत्रसंहिता 68:16, “God is pleased to dwell” in Zion) | Typology (Tabernacle/Temple) | Critical — establishes the Temple-typology thread that recurs at Colossians 2:9; translator notes must connect these two occurrences explicitly |
| Colossians 1:20 | कलस्सैकरांस पत्र 1:20 | Reconciliation through the Cross | Christ | Isaiah 53:5 (यशया 53:5, Suffering Servant, “by his wounds we are healed”); Leviticus 16 (लेवीय 16, Day of Atonement blood ritual, typological background) | Typology (Suffering Servant; Atonement sacrifice) | High/Critical — Romans Parallel: Romans 5:10-11 (रोमकरांस पत्र 5:10-11) uses the same reconciliation concept (καταλλάσσω root); when Romans 5:10-11 is rendered in this Language Package, “reconcile/reconciled/reconciliation” MUST use a term-family consistent with समेट घडवणे established here, so learners recognize the same doctrine across both letters. RULE R-1 (see Part C) |
| Colossians 1:21-22 | कलस्सैकरांस पत्र 1:21-22 | Reconciliation applied to believers, formerly alienated | Believers (Gentile Colossians) | Isaiah 59:2 (यशया 59:2, sin causing separation from God, background allusion) | Allusion | High — parallels Romans doctrine universal_human_accountability (Romans 1:18-3:20); must not imply believers’ prior alienation reflected inherited caste-status or birth-karma |
| Colossians 1:23 | कलस्सैकरांस पत्र 1:23 | Universal proclamation of the gospel | — | Genesis 12:3 (उत्पत्ति 12:3, Abrahamic blessing to all nations) | Typology (Abrahamic promise fulfilled) | High — Romans Parallel: Romans 1:5, Romans 16:26 (रोमकरांस पत्र 1:5; 16:26, obedience_of_faith/universal mission doctrine) — “proclaimed in all creation under heaven” must retain the same unqualified universality already mandated for Romans’ universal-scope passages |
| Colossians 1:24 | कलस्सैकरांस पत्र 1:24 | Paul’s afflictions filling up what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions | Paul; Christ | Isaiah 53 (Suffering Servant, background pattern of vicarious suffering, non-atoning application here) | Allusion | High — must not be read as implying the atonement (1:20) was insufficient; requires translator note as flagged in 08_core_glossary.md |
| Colossians 1:26-27 | कलस्सैकरांस पत्र 1:26-27 | Mystery hidden for ages, now revealed: Christ in you | Christ; “the saints” (church) | Daniel 2:28-29, 47 (दानीएल 2:28-29, 47, mystery revealed to Daniel by God) | Allusion (Danielic mystery-disclosure pattern) | Critical — Romans Parallel: Romans 16:25-26 (रोमकरांस पत्र 16:25-26) is near-verbatim in theme and structure (“the mystery that was kept secret for long ages but has now been disclosed”). RULE R-2 (see Part C): रहस्य + “आता उघड झालेले” qualifier must be rendered identically in both Colossians 1:26-27/2:2/4:3 and Romans 16:25-26 |
| Colossians 1:28-29 | कलस्सैकरांस पत्र 1:28-29 | Presenting everyone mature in Christ; Paul’s Christ-empowered labor | Paul | — (no direct OT quotation) | Romans Parallel | Medium — Romans Parallel: Romans 15:18-21 (रोमकरांस पत्र 15:18-21, christ_centered_ministry doctrine) — same emphasis that ministry is Christ’s work accomplished through Paul, not human achievement; render सामर्थ्याने (by his power/स्ट्रगलिंग तत्त्व) consistently with Romans’ देवाचे सामर्थ्य convention |
Chapter 2
| Colossians Passage | Marathi Citation | Theme | Related Character(s) | OT/NT Connection | Connection Type | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Colossians 2:2-3 | कलस्सैकरांस पत्र 2:2-3 | Hidden treasures of wisdom and knowledge in Christ | Christ; Solomon (typological background) | Isaiah 45:3 (यशया 45:3, “treasures of darkness”); 1 Kings 3:1-15 (1 राजे 3:1-15, Solomon’s God-given wisdom) | Typology (Solomon-Wisdom) | High — Christ presented as the greater Solomon/Wisdom; must retain qualifier “आत्मिक ज्ञान” to avoid Vedantic jñāna-mārga or Buddhist prajñā collision (per 08_core_glossary.md) |
| Colossians 2:8 | कलस्सैकरांस पत्र 2:8 | Warning against empty philosophy, human tradition, elemental spirits | — | Deuteronomy 18:9-14 (अनुवाद 18:9-14, warning against divination/occult practices, general background) | Allusion | High — qualifiers “पोकळ फसवे” and “मानवी” mandatory (per glossary); do not render as blanket rejection of Indian philosophical or guru traditions |
| Colossians 2:9-10 | कलस्सैकरांस पत्र 2:9-10 | Fullness of Deity dwelling bodily in Christ; Christ head of all rule/authority | Christ | Continues Exodus 25:8; 1 Kings 8:27 typology from Colossians 1:19 | Typology (Tabernacle/Temple, resumed) | Critical — must be translated in explicit continuity with Colossians 1:19; a translator note cross-referencing both occurrences is required |
| Colossians 2:11 | कलस्सैकरांस पत्र 2:11 | Spiritual circumcision “made without hands” | Christ; Abraham (background) | Deuteronomy 10:16 (अनुवाद 10:16); Deuteronomy 30:6 (अनुवाद 30:6); Jeremiah 4:4 (यिर्मया 4:4, circumcision of the heart) | Allusion (Circumcision of the heart) | High — Romans Parallel: Romans 2:28-29 (रोमकरांस पत्र 2:28-29) teaches the identical doctrine (“circumcision is a matter of the heart”). RULE R-3 (see Part C): render “circumcision” consistently as सुंता in both passages, with the qualifier “हातांनी न केलेली”/“आध्यात्मिक” retained wherever the heart-circumcision sense is meant |
| Colossians 2:14 | कलस्सैकरांस पत्र 2:14 | The record of debt cancelled, nailed to the cross | Christ | Deuteronomy 27:14-26 (अनुवाद 27:14-26, curses formally recorded); Isaiah 43:25 (यशया 43:25, God blots out transgressions) | Allusion (legal-document/blotting-out imagery) | Medium — ऋणपत्र requires explanatory gloss as noted in glossary |
| Colossians 2:15 | कलस्सैकरांस पत्र 2:15 | Christ disarms and triumphs over rulers and authorities | Christ; the serpent (typological) | Genesis 3:15 (उत्पत्ति 3:15, protoevangelium — the offspring who crushes the serpent’s head); Psalm 68:18 (स्तोत्रसंहिता 68:18, “leading captivity captive,” also echoed at Ephesians 4:8) | Typology (serpent-crusher); Messianic | Critical — this is the letter’s clearest allusion to the Genesis 3:15 protoevangelium; a translator note connecting Christ’s triumph on the cross to the ancient promise of the serpent-crushing offspring is strongly recommended for teaching value |
| Colossians 2:16-17 | कलस्सैकरांस पत्र 2:16-17 | Festivals, new moon, Sabbath as shadow; substance belongs to Christ | Christ | Leviticus 23 (लेवीय 23, festival calendar); Genesis 2:2-3 (Sabbath institution, background) | Typology (Levitical calendar fulfilled) | High — must render छाया/मूळ वास्तव distinctly from शरीर (church-as-body sense, 1:18); do not collapse the two senses of the same Greek word |
| Colossians 2:18 | कलस्सैकरांस पत्र 2:18 | Warning against worship of angels and visions | — | Deuteronomy 4:19 (अनुवाद 4:19, warning against worshiping the host of heaven) | Allusion | High — direct collision with ग्रामदेवता/कुलदेवता/पितर propitiation practice; frame positively (Christ alone worthy) |
| Colossians 2:21-23 | कलस्सैकरांस पत्र 2:21-23 | Ascetic regulations (“do not handle, taste, touch”) as self-made religion | — | Leviticus 11 (लेवीय 11, food-purity laws, background contrast); Genesis 3:3 (उत्पत्ति 3:3, “you shall not touch it,” echo of prohibition language) | Allusion | Medium |
Chapter 3
| Colossians Passage | Marathi Citation | Theme | Related Character(s) | OT/NT Connection | Connection Type | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Colossians 3:1 | कलस्सैकरांस पत्र 3:1 | Union with Christ: raised and seated with him | Christ | Psalm 110:1 (स्तोत्रसंहिता 110:1 — “The LORD says to my Lord: Sit at my right hand”) | Messianic (direct, most-quoted messianic psalm in the NT) | Critical — “seated at the right hand of God” must connect explicitly to [REUSE ROMANS TM] lord = प्रभू; this is a direct enthronement/Lordship claim, not a devotional image |
| Colossians 3:3-4 | कलस्सैकरांस पत्र 3:3-4 | Life hidden with Christ; future appearing in glory | Christ; believers | — (no direct OT quotation) | Romans Parallel | High — Romans Parallel: Romans 8:17-19 (रोमकरांस पत्र 8:17-19, future glorification) — render “hidden…will appear…in glory” (गौरव, [REUSE ROMANS TM]) consistently with Romans 8’s glorification language; avoid any suggestion of an impersonal hidden Self merging into a totality (guard against Vedantic Atman-Brahman overtone) |
| Colossians 3:5 | कलस्सैकरांस पत्र 3:5 | Put to death earthly practices; covetousness is idolatry | — | Exodus 20:3-4, 17 (निर्गम 20:3-4, 17, Decalogue — no other gods; no coveting) | Quotation-echo (Decalogue) | Critical — मूर्तिपूजा collision with Warkari/Hindu image-devotion; the doctrinal force (“greed functions as idol-worship”) must be retained in full |
| Colossians 3:6 | कलस्सैकरांस पत्र 3:6 | Wrath of God on disobedience | — | — | Romans Parallel | Medium — Romans Parallel: Romans 1:18 (रोमकरांस पत्र 1:18, God’s wrath revealed) — render देवाचा क्रोध consistently with however Romans 1:18 handles “wrath” |
| Colossians 3:9-10 | कलस्सैकरांस पत्र 3:9-10 | Put off the old self, put on the new self, renewed after the image of the Creator | Christ (as pattern); Adam (background) | Genesis 1:26-27 (उत्पत्ति 1:26-27, image of God — echo of Colossians 1:15’s प्रतिमा); Ezekiel 36:26 (यहेज्केल 36:26, new heart promised) | Typology (Adam/new creation); Allusion (new-heart promise) | Critical — Romans Parallel: Romans 6:6 (रोमकरांस पत्र 6:6, “our old self was crucified with him”). RULE R-4 (see Part C): जुना मनुष्य/नवा मनुष्य must be rendered with the same phrase-family used (or to be used) for Romans 6:6, since both passages describe the identical doctrine of the old self put to death in union with Christ |
| Colossians 3:11 | कलस्सैकरांस पत्र 3:11 | No distinction: Greek/Jew, circumcised/uncircumcised, slave/free — Christ is all in all | — | Galatians 3:28 (गलतीकरांस पत्र 3:28, close non-Romans parallel) | Romans Parallel | Critical — Romans Parallel: Romans 10:12 (रोमकरांस पत्र 10:12, “For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek”). RULE R-5 (see Part C): भेद नाही must use the identical phrase structure established for Romans 10:12; this doctrine carries unusually direct resonance with caste-status leveling in Maharashtra and must never be softened in either letter |
| Colossians 3:12 | कलस्सैकरांस पत्र 3:12 | God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved | — | Deuteronomy 7:6-8 (अनुवाद 7:6-8, election of Israel); Isaiah 43:20-21 (यशया 43:20-21, chosen people) | Typology (Israel’s election extended to the church) | High — Romans Parallel: Romans 8:33 (रोमकरांस पत्र 8:33, “God’s elect”); Romans 9:25 (रोमकरांस पत्र 9:25, quoting Hosea 2:23 / होशेय 2:23 on calling “not my people” “my people”) — reuse [REUSE ROMANS TM] देवाची निवड family; must avoid karma-birth framing per Romans doctrine registry’s explicit caution |
| Colossians 3:13 | कलस्सैकरांस पत्र 3:13 | Forgive as the Lord forgave you | Christ | — | Allusion (Lord’s Prayer pattern) | Medium — echoes Matthew 6:12, 14-15 (मत्तय 6:12, 14-15); note shared root of “forgive” (χαρίζομαι) with grace (χάρις) [REUSE ROMANS TM कृपा] |
| Colossians 3:16 | कलस्सैकरांस पत्र 3:16 | Word of Christ dwelling richly; psalms, hymns, spiritual songs | — | Psalter background generally (स्तोत्रसंहिता) | Allusion | Low |

| Colossians 3:20-21 | कलस्सैकरांस पत्र 3:20-21 | Household code: children obey, fathers do not provoke | — | Exodus 20:12 (निर्गम 20:12, “Honor your father and your mother” — Decalogue) | Quotation-echo (Decalogue) | Medium |
| Colossians 3:22-25 | कलस्सैकरांस पत्र 3:22-25 | Household code: slaves obey; no partiality with God | — | Exodus 21:2-11 (निर्गम 21:2-11, Hebrew servant release-law, contrastive background); Deuteronomy 10:17 (अनुवाद 10:17, “God shows no partiality”) | Allusion; Romans Parallel | Critical — Romans Parallel: Romans 2:11 (रोमकरांस पत्र 2:11, “For God shows no partiality”). RULE R-6 (see Part C): न्याय आणि समानता / “partiality” vocabulary must align with Romans 2:11’s rendering. Mandatory translator/teaching note per 08_core_glossary.md on दास/धनी — never read as scriptural endorsement of servitude or caste-labor systems |

|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Colossians 4:1 | कलस्सैकरांस पत्र 4:1 | Masters must treat slaves justly; both have a Master in heaven | — | Job 31:13-15 (ईयोब 31:13-15, master and slave both made by God, equal before him) | Typology/Allusion | Critical — paired with 3:22-25 above; न्याय आणि समानता clause must be given full doctrinal weight, not treated as a minor aside |
| Colossians 4:2-4 | कलस्सैकरांस पत्र 4:2-4 | Steadfast prayer; the mystery of Christ, for which Paul is imprisoned | Paul; Christ | Daniel 2:28-29, 47 (reprised from 1:26-27) | Allusion (Danielic mystery-disclosure, reprised) | Critical — Romans Parallel: Romans 16:25-26 (see Rule R-2). रहस्य here (4:3) must match the rendering already fixed at Colossians 1:26-27 and 2:2 within this same letter, and with Romans 16:25-26 across the curriculum |
| Colossians 4:5-6 | कलस्सैकरांस पत्र 4:5-6 | Wise conduct toward outsiders; gracious speech | — | Proverbs 15:1 (नीतिसूत्रे 15:1, “a soft answer turns away wrath,” general wisdom-speech background) | Allusion | Low |
| Colossians 4:7-9 | कलस्सैकरांस पत्र 4:7-9 | Tychicus and Onesimus commended | Tychicus; Onesimus (also in Philemon, outside this curriculum) | — | — | Low — reviewed; no new doctrinal terms; note Onesimus’s identity link to Philemon for future curricula cross-reference if Philemon is added |
| Colossians 4:10-14 | कलस्सैकरांस पत्र 4:10-14 | Greetings from Paul’s co-workers (Aristarchus, Mark, Justus, Epaphras, Luke, Demas) | Paul’s companions | — | Romans Parallel (structural) | Low — Romans Parallel: Romans 16 (रोमकरांस पत्र 16, closing greetings chapter) — same epistolary convention; proper-name transliteration should follow the same standard established for Romans 16 names where the same individuals recur (none exactly overlap, but the pattern and formal register must match) |
| Colossians 4:15-17 | कलस्सैकरांस पत्र 4:15-17 | Instructions to exchange letters with Laodicea; Archippus’s ministry | Nympha; Archippus | — | — | Low — reviewed; no doctrinal terms beyond [REUSE] ministry vocabulary |

PART B — Messianic References and Typological Patterns Summary
| Pattern | Colossians Occurrence(s) | OT Root | Typological/Messianic Significance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Image of God / New Adam | 1:15; 3:9-10 | Genesis 1:26-27 | Christ is the true, unfallen Image the first Adam was created to bear; believers are being remade after this same Image. Direct link to Romans 5:12-21 Adam-Christ typology. |
| Firstborn-rank (not birth-order) | 1:15; 1:18 | Psalm 89:27; Exodus 4:22 | David (and typologically Israel) held “firstborn” rank without being literally first-born; Christ holds supreme rank over creation and the resurrected dead. |
| Enthroned Messiah at God’s right hand | 3:1 | Psalm 110:1 | The most-cited messianic text in the NT; grounds Christ’s present, active, reigning Lordship — directly reinforcing [REUSE ROMANS TM] lord doctrine. |
| Serpent-crusher | 2:15 | Genesis 3:15 | Christ’s triumph over “rulers and authorities” at the cross is the historical fulfillment of the protoevangelium’s promise that the woman’s offspring would crush the serpent’s head. |
| Suffering Servant | 1:20, 1:24 | Isaiah 53 | Grounds the atoning, substitutionary character of the cross (1:20) and, distinctly, the pattern of vicarious (non-atoning) suffering that gospel ministers share (1:24). |
| Tabernacle/Temple indwelling | 1:19; 2:9 | Exodus 25:8; 1 Kings 8:27; Psalm 68:16 | God’s presence, which once dwelt in a tent/building, now dwells permanently and bodily in Christ himself — the final and greater “temple.” |
| Wisdom of God | 1:16 (background); 2:2-3 | Proverbs 8:22-31; 1 Kings 3 (Solomon) | Christ is presented as the one in whom all the wisdom that Solomon sought, and the Wisdom present at creation, is fully embodied. |
| Israel’s election extended | 3:12 | Deuteronomy 7:6-8; Isaiah 43:20-21; Hosea 2:23 | The corporate election-language once reserved for national Israel is now applied to the multi-ethnic church in Christ — paralleling Romans 9:25 and 8:33. |
| Abrahamic universal blessing | 1:23 | Genesis 12:3 | The gospel’s proclamation “in all creation under heaven” is the historical outworking of the promise that all nations would be blessed through Abraham’s seed. |
PART C — Rendering-Consistency Rules for Shared Quotations/Themes with Romans
These rules bind Phase 2 translation whenever a Colossians segment shares wording, doctrine, or an OT citation with an already-governed Romans passage. They must be entered into the updated translation_memory.json as cross-reference metadata.
| Rule ID | Colossians Passage(s) | Romans Passage | Shared Element | Consistency Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| R-1 | Colossians 1:20-22 | Romans 5:10-11 | Reconciliation (καταλλάσσω root) | समेट घडवणे (or its established Romans-5 equivalent, whichever is fixed first) must be used identically in both letters; God must remain the sole reconciling agent in both renderings |
| R-2 | Colossians 1:26-27; 2:2; 4:3 | Romans 16:25-26 | ”Mystery hidden for ages, now revealed” | रहस्य + mandatory qualifier “आता उघड झालेले” (now openly disclosed) must appear identically in all occurrences across both letters |
| R-3 | Colossians 2:11 | Romans 2:28-29 | Circumcision of the heart | सुंता + “आध्यात्मिक”/“हातांनी न केलेली” qualifier must match between the two passages |
| R-4 | Colossians 3:9-10 | Romans 6:6 | Old self crucified/put off | जुना मनुष्य / नवा मनुष्य phrase-family must be used identically in both passages; both must preserve continuous personal identity (never framed as rebirth into a new body or as evidence of no continuous self) |
| R-5 | Colossians 3:11 | Romans 10:12 | ”No distinction” | भेद नाही (or its established Romans-10 equivalent) must match; full, unqualified list of social/ethnic categories retained in both |
| R-6 | Colossians 3:25; 4:1 | Romans 2:11 | God shows no partiality | Vocabulary for “impartiality” must align across both passages |
| R-7 | Colossians 1:16-17 | Romans 8:28 | Christ/God sustaining and governing all things | Must avoid impersonal karmic-law or fate framing in both; personal divine agency must remain explicit in both renderings |
| R-8 | Colossians 1:23 | Romans 1:5; Romans 16:26 | Universal scope of gospel proclamation | Unqualified, all-inclusive language retained in both; no softening |
| R-9 | Colossians 1:28-29 | Romans 15:18-21 | Christ-centered ministry, not human achievement | देवाचे सामर्थ्य convention applied consistently; ministry attributed to Christ’s power working through the minister |
| R-10 | Colossians 3:3-4 | Romans 8:17-19 | Future glorification | गौरव [REUSE ROMANS TM] used consistently; avoid Vedantic hidden-Self-merging overtone |
| R-11 | Colossians 3:12 | Romans 8:33; Romans 9:25 | Election/chosenness of God’s people | देवाची निवड family reused; avoid karma-birth framing per Romans doctrine registry caution |
| R-12 | Colossians 1:15; 3:9-10 | Romans 5:12-21 | Adam-Christ typology / image of God | Terminology for “Adam,” “one man,” and “image” must remain compatible across both letters so the typological pattern is visible to the Marathi reader |
| R-13 | Colossians 4:7-18 | Romans 16 | Closing greetings convention | Same formal register and transliteration standard for proper names; same citation format |
PART D — Full-Book Coverage Confirmation
All four chapters of Colossians have been reviewed for OT quotation, allusion, messianic reference, typology, and Romans-curriculum parallel content:
- Chapter 1 — reviewed in full; core passage (1:15-20) and surrounding material (1:1-14, 1:21-29) all carry load-bearing cross-reference content (see Part A).
- Chapter 2 — reviewed in full; heavy cross-reference density around the false-teaching warning (2:8-23).
- Chapter 3 — reviewed in full; carries the letter’s densest concentration of direct Romans parallels (old/new self, no distinction, election, impartiality).
- Chapter 4 — reviewed in full; verses 4:7-18 (greetings/closing) carry minimal independent doctrinal cross-reference content beyond the structural parallel to Romans 16, and are noted here explicitly as reviewed rather than silently omitted.
This document extends, and must not contradict, analysis/07_semantic_analysis.md, analysis/08_core_glossary.md, and the baseline Romans translation_memory.json/doctrine_risk_registry.json. All Rule R-1 through R-13 consistency obligations must be encoded as cross-reference metadata in the Phase 1 Step 2+ updated translation_memory.json.
