Doctrine Analysis
Revelation — Full Doctrine Analysis Matrix
Destination language: Pashto | Curriculum: Revelation | Phase 1, Step 4
This document extends, and does not contradict, the baseline Romans doctrine_risk_registry.json and is fully consistent with the Revelation doctrine_risk_registry.json produced in this pipeline: same 27 doctrines, same risk tiers, same review routing. It walks the entire book, chapter by chapter (1–22), mapping every doctrine to its supporting passages within each chapter so that no chapter is silently skipped, even where a chapter mainly reinforces doctrine already anchored elsewhere. The core passage (Revelation 21:1-8) is treated as the theological anchor within its chapter section, not as the scope boundary of this analysis.
Risk tiers, definitions, and review routing follow the registry exactly:
- Critical — Human theologian review required for every occurrence.
- High — Human theologian review required.
- Medium — Native speaker review recommended.
- Low — Automated review sufficient.
Chapter 1 — Prologue and Vision of the Glorified Christ (1:1-20)
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages (this book) | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Inspiration and Finality of This Prophecy | 1:1-3 | High | ”Revelation/apokalypsis” (مکاشفه) must be framed as a completed unveiling of what God has shown, not an open-ended ongoing wahy; intersects with shared tahrif assumptions about prior scripture. | Human theologian |
| The Sovereignty of God over History | 1:4, 1:8 | High | ”Alpha and Omega” and “Almighty” (قادر مطلق) parallel al-Qadir but must not be diluted to a generic honorific when first applied to God. | Human theologian |
| The Return and Reign of Christ | 1:7 | Critical | ”Every eye will see him… he is coming with the clouds” must be taught as Christ’s own personal, visible return, not a separate future Mahdi figure. | Human theologian |
| Deity of Christ (extended through Revelation’s titles) | 1:8, 1:13-18 | Critical | Christ’s self-description (“the first and the last,” holds the keys of Death and Hades) directly reuses divine-only language; must not be flattened to an exalted-but-created-being reading. | Human theologian |
| Perseverance and Faithful Witness under Persecution | 1:9 | Critical | John’s own “testimony” (شاهدي) on Patmos must be disambiguated from شهید (violent martyrdom-for-paradise); this is the doctrine’s first occurrence and sets the pattern for the whole book. | Human theologian |
| Worship of the Lamb | 1:5-6 | Critical | ”To him be glory and dominion” establishes doxology toward Christ before the fuller throne-room scenes of ch. 4-5; must be rendered with the same weight as doxology to God. | Human theologian |
Chapter 2 — Letters to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira (2:1-29)
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Perseverance and Faithful Witness under Persecution | 2:2-3, 2:10, 2:13, 2:19 | Critical | ”Overcome” (بریالی کیدل) and endurance vocabulary recur through every letter; Antipas’s death (2:13) as “my faithful witness” must retain testimony-not-jihad framing. | Human theologian |
| Judgment of the Wicked and Vindication of the Saints | 2:7 (tree of life), 2:11 (second death), 2:17 (hidden manna), 2:26-27 (authority over nations) | Critical | Each letter’s overcomer promise anticipates the final judgment/vindication scenes of ch. 20-22; must be linked forward consistently. | Human theologian |
| Messianic Promise and Davidic Covenant | 2:28 (morning star) | Critical | ”Morning star” first occurrence; must be flagged as anticipating 22:16’s explicit self-identification of Christ with this title. | Human theologian |
| Symbolic and Apocalyptic Interpretation | 2:1, 2:8, 2:12, 2:18 (seven churches as representative/symbolic address) | High | The seven churches function symbolically for the whole church, not merely as historical antiquarian letters; must avoid over-literalizing to only these ancient cities. | Human theologian |
Chapter 3 — Letters to Sardis, Philadelphia, Laodicea (3:1-22)
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Messianic Promise and Davidic Covenant | 3:7 (key of David) | Critical | ”Key of David” must be taught as fulfilling the Davidic covenant-king typology, not read as a bare historical reference to Dawud as Quranic prophet-king. | Human theologian |
| Perseverance and Faithful Witness under Persecution | 3:8, 3:10 | Critical | ”Kept my word… endured patiently” reinforces the doctrine established in ch. 1-2; consistency of رendering required across all seven letters. | Human theologian |
| Return and Reign of Christ / Deity of Christ | 3:14 (“the Amen,” “the faithful and true witness”) | Critical | ”The Amen” as a christological title applied identically to God’s own self-affirmation must not be softened to a merely liturgical interjection. | Human theologian |
| New Heaven and New Earth | 3:12 (new Jerusalem, first occurrence) | High | Anticipatory reference; must be flagged forward-consistent with ch. 21’s full treatment. | Human theologian |
| Judgment of the Wicked and Vindication of the Saints | 3:5 (book of life), 3:21 (throne with Christ) | Critical | Overcomer promises again anchor to the book of life, not a deeds-balance; consistency with ch. 20-21 required. | Human theologian |
Chapter 4 — The Throne Room Vision (4:1-11)
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Sovereignty of God over History | 4:1-11 | High | Throne (تخت) imagery must be anchored to unshared cosmic sovereignty, not read as merely another regional political monarchy given local political history. | Human theologian |
| Thanksgiving and Heavenly Worship | 4:8-11 (“holy, holy, holy,” “worthy”) | Low | Broadly compatible doxological vocabulary; standard baseline care sufficient. | Automated review |
| Symbolic and Apocalyptic Interpretation | 4:4 (24 elders), 4:6-8 (living creatures) | High | Symbolic heavenly court figures must not be over-literalized into a specific identifiable group or misread as intercessory saints/angels receiving worship themselves. | Human theologian |
Chapter 5 — The Lamb and the Scroll (5:1-14)
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Worship of the Lamb | 5:6-14 | Critical | The Lamb receives سجده and عبادت identically alongside God on the throne (5:13-14); this is the paradigm case of shirk from a tawhid standpoint if not deliberately taught as intentional. | Human theologian |
| Deity of Christ (extended through Revelation’s titles) | 5:6-14 | Critical | Worthiness to open the scroll and receive worship establishes Christ’s co-equal standing with the Father; must not be flattened. | Human theologian |
| Messianic Promise and Davidic Covenant | 5:5 (Lion of Judah, Root of David) | Critical | Both titles must be taught as fulfilling OT Davidic/tribal typology, not generic royal praise. | Human theologian |
| Unity of All Nations, Tribes, and Peoples | 5:9 | High | ”Every tribe, language, people, nation” (redeemed/purchased) must challenge, not reinforce, Pashtun qawm/khel status hierarchies. | Human theologian |
| Judgment of the Wicked and Vindication of the Saints | 5:9-10 (redeemed, made a kingdom and priests) | Critical | ”Purchased” (پیرودل شوی) grounds vindication in Christ’s blood, not deeds-weighing. | Human theologian |
Chapter 6 — The Six Seals (6:1-17)
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Judgment of the Wicked and Vindication of the Saints | 6:9-11 (souls under the altar, “how long?”), 6:16-17 (wrath of the Lamb) | Critical | ”Wrath of the Lamb” (د بره غضب) juxtaposes gentleness and judgment; must not be softened to remove the judicial force, nor read through mizan deeds-weighing. | Human theologian |
| Heavenly Intercession and the Prayers of the Saints | 6:9-11 | Medium | Souls “crying out” is prayer-like appeal for justice, not intercession through a created intermediary; distinguish from any suggestion of the martyrs themselves being petitioned. | Native speaker review |
| Perseverance and Faithful Witness under Persecution | 6:9 (“testimony they had borne”) | Critical | Continues the shahid/شهید disambiguation established in ch. 1-2. | Human theologian |
| The Sovereignty of God over History | 6:1-8 (seals opened by the Lamb) | High | God’s (and the Lamb’s) sovereign control over even catastrophic historical events must be preserved as purposive, not fatalistic. | Human theologian |
Chapter 7 — The 144,000 and the Great Multitude (7:1-17)
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Unity of All Nations, Tribes, and Peoples | 7:4-8 (144,000 sealed), 7:9-17 (great multitude from every nation) | High | The symbolic 144,000 (12x12x1000) must be taught as completeness of God’s people, not a literal ethnic head-count excluding the universal multitude described immediately after. | Human theologian |
| Judgment of the Wicked and Vindication of the Saints | 7:9-17 (white robes, before the throne) | Critical | White robes and standing before the throne ground vindication in the Lamb’s blood (7:14), not the believers’ own achieved purity/honor. | Human theologian |
| Symbolic and Apocalyptic Interpretation | 7:1-8 | High | The sealing number itself is highly susceptible to sensationalist over-literalization; must be taught as symbolic completeness. | Human theologian |
Chapter 8 — Seven Trumpets Begin; the Golden Censer (8:1-13)
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Heavenly Intercession and the Prayers of the Saints | 8:3-4 (incense with the prayers of the saints) | Medium | Incense offered “with” the prayers, not as a substitute recipient; must avoid suggesting a created intermediary (angel) receiving prayer directly. | Native speaker review |
| The Sovereignty of God over History | 8:1-13 (trumpet judgments) | High | Trumpet judgments must be presented as under God’s purposive governance of history, not impersonal natural catastrophe. | Human theologian |
| Symbolic and Apocalyptic Interpretation | 8:7-12 (hail, sea to blood, star Wormwood) | High | Cosmic-disaster imagery must be taught symbolically; reckless literal/contemporary identification risks sensationalism and reader endangerment. | Human theologian |
Chapter 9 — Fifth and Sixth Trumpets: Locusts and the Euphrates Army (9:1-21)
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Symbolic and Apocalyptic Interpretation | 9:1-11 (abyss, locusts, Abaddon/Apollyon), 9:13-19 (four angels, army) | High | Abaddon (ابدون) must be introduced as a destroyer-name/title, not confused with any revered regional or Islamic angelic figure; avoid literalizing as identifiable modern military forces. | Human theologian |
| Judgment of the Wicked and Vindication of the Saints | 9:4-6, 9:20-21 (unrepentant humanity) | Critical | Judgment falls on “those without the seal of God,” reinforcing the book of life/sealing framework rather than a deeds-balance. | Human theologian |
| The Sovereignty of God over History | 9:1 (“was given the key”), 9:13-15 (four angels released “at the hour appointed”) | High | Even demonic forces act only within God’s sovereign permission and timing; must not read as dualistic loss of divine control. | Human theologian |
Chapter 10 — The Angel and the Little Scroll (10:1-11)
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Inspiration and Finality of This Prophecy | 10:7, 10:9-11 (the mystery of God fulfilled; scroll sweet then bitter) | High | ”Mystery of God” fulfilled through his prophets must be tied to the completed prophetic record culminating in this book, not an ongoing revelatory process. | Human theologian |
| The Sovereignty of God over History | 10:5-6 (angel swears by him who lives forever) | High | The oath formula (“who created heaven and earth”) reinforces God’s eternal sovereignty; must retain full weight, not reduce to a stock phrase. | Human theologian |
Chapter 11 — The Two Witnesses and the Seventh Trumpet (11:1-19)
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Perseverance and Faithful Witness under Persecution | 11:3-12 (two witnesses, their testimony, death, and vindication) | Critical | The single most acute شاهد/شهید disambiguation point in the book: the two witnesses testify verbally, are killed by the beast, and are vindicated by God’s own resurrection power — not by the witnesses’ own violent action. Must never be framed as martyrdom-operation heroism. | Human theologian |
| Judgment of the Wicked and Vindication of the Saints | 11:11-13 (resurrection and vindication of the witnesses) | Critical | Vindication comes entirely from God raising them, paralleling 20:11-15’s final vindication pattern. | Human theologian |
| The Return and Reign of Christ | 11:15-18 (“the kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord”) | Critical | This proclamation of Christ’s reign must be distinguished from “Islamic Emirate” or Mahdi-led political-sovereignty framing already flagged in the baseline. | Human theologian |
| The Sovereignty of God over History | 11:17 (“Lord God Almighty… you have begun to reign”) | High | Continues Almighty/قادر مطلق title use; must retain full divine-sovereignty force. | Human theologian |
Chapter 12 — The Woman, the Dragon, and Michael (12:1-17)
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Assurance of God’s Final Victory over Evil | 12:7-12 (Michael defeats the dragon; “he has been thrown down”), 12:11 (“they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony”) | Critical | شیطان shares its name with the folk-diminished Islamic Shaytan; Revelation’s Satan must be taught as a personal, powerful, but already judicially defeated cosmic enemy — a finality claim mainstream Islamic eschatology does not make. | Human theologian |
| Perseverance and Faithful Witness under Persecution | 12:11, 12:17 | Critical | Overcoming “by the word of their testimony” (شاهدي), not by retaliatory violence; central proof-text for the doctrine’s non-violent framing. | Human theologian |
| The Sovereignty of God over History | 12:5-6, 12:13-17 (the woman protected in the wilderness) | High | God’s protective sovereignty over the persecuted community operating even amid the dragon’s assault must be preserved. | Human theologian |
| Symbolic and Apocalyptic Interpretation | 12:1-6 (woman clothed with the sun; symbolic figure) | High | The woman is a corporate/symbolic figure (the covenant community/Israel-and-church), not a specific individual to be venerated. | Human theologian |
Chapter 13 — The Beast, the False Prophet, and 666 (13:1-18)
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Symbolic and Apocalyptic Interpretation | 13:1-2 (beast from the sea), 13:11 (beast from the earth), 13:18 (666) | High | 666 and the beast imagery are highly susceptible to sensationalist over-literalization onto specific contemporary regimes/persons; given regional political sensitivity, reckless identification could endanger readers. | Human theologian |
| Judgment of the Wicked and Vindication of the Saints | 13:8 (book of life), 13:10 (endurance) | Critical | Those “whose names are not written in the book of life” worship the beast; reinforces book-of-life framework against deeds-weighing. | Human theologian |
| Blasphemy Against God (Forbidden Legal-Term Risk) | 13:6 (“opened his mouth to blaspheme God”) | Critical | کفر (kufr) must never be used to render “blaspheme” — the technical Islamic legal category underlying apostasy law; a purely descriptive term (سپکاوی/توهین) must be used instead to avoid endangering convert readers. | Human theologian |
| Providence Governing Earthly Powers | 13:5-7 (“it was allowed to make war… authority was given it”) | Medium | The beast’s authority is only “given,” under God’s sovereign permission, not independent power; must avoid suggesting divine endorsement of the beast’s actions or lapsing into fatalism. | Native speaker review |
| Worship of the Lamb (by contrast) | 13:4, 13:8 (worship of the beast/dragon) | Critical | The counterfeit worship of the beast is the dark mirror of the true worship of the Lamb (ch. 5); the same سجده/عبادت vocabulary must be handled with precision so the contrast, not confusion, is clear. | Human theologian |
Chapter 14 — The 144,000 on Zion, the Eternal Gospel, and the Harvest (14:1-20)
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Eternal Gospel and Universal Proclamation | 14:6-7 (“eternal gospel… to every nation, tribe, language, people”) | High | Carries the same severe, potentially life-threatening safety risk for open evangelism already documented in the baseline’s mission/evangelism entries; must be handled with full awareness of danger to speaker and hearer alike. | Human theologian |
| Perseverance and Faithful Witness under Persecution | 14:12 (“the patient endurance of the saints… who keep the faith of Jesus”) | Critical | Continues زغم/صبر endurance vocabulary; “faith of Jesus” must retain personal-trust sense, not generic religious loyalty. | Human theologian |
| Judgment of the Wicked and Vindication of the Saints | 14:9-11 (worship the beast, drink the wrath of God), 14:14-20 (harvest and winepress) | Critical | Harvest/winepress imagery is severe judgment language that must not be softened; wrath of the Lamb continuity from 6:16. | Human theologian |
| Unity of All Nations, Tribes, and Peoples | 14:1-5 (144,000 with the Lamb on Zion) | High | Continues the completeness-not-literal-headcount teaching from ch. 7. | Human theologian |
Chapter 15 — Prelude to the Bowls: The Song of Moses and the Lamb (15:1-8)
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Worship of the Lamb | 15:3-4 (song of Moses and of the Lamb) | Critical | The Lamb is worshiped in continuity with, not replacement of, the Exodus-deliverance song pattern; deity claim must be retained. | Human theologian |
| The Sovereignty of God over History | 15:3-4 (“Lord God Almighty… King of the nations”) | High | Almighty/قادر مطلق and universal kingship language recurs; must remain undiluted. | Human theologian |
| Judgment of the Wicked and Vindication of the Saints | 15:1, 15:5-8 (seven bowls of God’s wrath prepared) | Critical | The bowls of wrath are described as “the last,” completing God’s judgment; sequencing must not be lost in translation. | Human theologian |
Chapter 16 — The Seven Bowls (16:1-21)
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Judgment of the Wicked and Vindication of the Saints | 16:1-21 (bowls poured out), 16:7 (“true and just are your judgments”) | Critical | God’s judgments are explicitly vindicated as just within the text itself; must retain the judicial-vindication framing, not read as arbitrary wrath. | Human theologian |
| Blasphemy Against God (Forbidden Legal-Term Risk) | 16:9, 16:11, 16:21 (“cursed/blasphemed the God of heaven”) | Critical | Same کفر-avoidance rule as 13:6 applies at every occurrence in this chapter. | Human theologian |
| Sovereignty of God over History | 16:17 (“It is done!”) | High | ”It is done” (γέγονεν) anticipates 21:6’s parallel declaration; consistency of rendering across both occurrences required. | Human theologian |
| Symbolic and Apocalyptic Interpretation | 16:16 (Armageddon) | High | Armageddon must be taught symbolically as the site/symbol of final divine-human confrontation, not identified with a specific present-day location in a way that could be politically dangerous. | Human theologian |
Chapter 17 — Babylon the Great Prostitute (17:1-18)
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Separation unto God’s Service (Come Out of Babylon) | 17:1-6 (the great prostitute), 17:15-18 (Babylon’s identity) | High | Babylon/بابل also carries Qur’anic sorcery associations (2:102) distinct from its symbolic use here; over-identifying with any specific present-day nation-state risks real danger for readers under repressive regimes. | Human theologian |
| Judgment of the Wicked and Vindication of the Saints | 17:1 (“great prostitute… judgment”) | Critical | The prostitute’s judgment is announced in advance; must retain forward-looking judicial framing consistent with ch. 18-20. | Human theologian |
| Providence Governing Earthly Powers | 17:17 (“God has put it into their hearts to accomplish his purpose”) | Medium | Earthly rulers’ hostile actions still serve God’s sovereign purpose; must avoid suggesting divine authorship of evil intent, only sovereign permission/direction. | Native speaker review |
| Symbolic and Apocalyptic Interpretation | 17:9-14 (seven heads, ten horns interpreted) | High | The chapter’s own interpretive key (17:9 “this calls for wisdom”) must be preserved as guidance toward symbolic, not sensationalist-literal, reading. | Human theologian |
Chapter 18 — The Fall of Babylon (18:1-24)
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Separation unto God’s Service (Come Out of Babylon) | 18:4 (“Come out of her, my people”) | High | The call to separation must be taught as a call to spiritual and moral non-participation in a God-opposing system, not a directive toward physical geographic relocation or political action that could endanger readers. | Human theologian |
| Judgment of the Wicked and Vindication of the Saints | 18:1-24 (Babylon’s fall and lament), 18:20 (rejoice, for God has judged) | Critical | The saints’ rejoicing over judgment must be handled pastorally — vindication, not vindictive triumphalism. | Human theologian |
| Apostolic Foundation of the Church | 18:20 (“apostles and prophets”) | Medium | رسول here again risks collision with Muhammad’s defining title; must be read corporately of the NT-founding office. | Native speaker review |
Chapter 19 — The Marriage Supper, the Rider on the White Horse (19:1-21)
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Church as Bride of Christ | 19:6-9 (marriage supper of the Lamb) | Critical | Islamic theology has no marriage-to-God/Christ metaphor; a careless rendering risks being heard as a literal deity-human marriage claim rather than the intended corporate covenant-love metaphor. | Human theologian |
| Worship of the Lamb | 19:1-10 (multitude’s worship, “Hallelujah”) | Critical | Continues the سجده/عبادت pattern established in ch. 4-5; the confession “for the Lord our God the Almighty reigns” (19:6) must retain full sovereignty force. | Human theologian |
| Prohibition of Angel Worship / Worship of God Alone | 19:10 (angel refuses John’s worship: “Worship God”) | Critical | Genuine point of doctrinal agreement with surrounding tawhid theology; must be actively highlighted as common ground while not undercutting the Lamb’s own deity claim established moments earlier in the same chapter. | Human theologian |
| The Return and Reign of Christ | 19:11-16 (rider on the white horse) | Critical | Christ’s return in judgment and triumph; must be taught as his own return, in continuity with his first coming. | Human theologian |
| Deity of Christ (extended through Revelation’s titles) | 19:13 (Word of God), 19:16 (King of kings, Lord of lords) | Critical | Both titles are absolute divine claims; must never be softened to honorific royal titles among others. | Human theologian |
| Judgment of the Wicked and Vindication of the Saints | 19:17-21 (defeat of the beast and false prophet) | Critical | Final military-imagery judgment of the beast anticipates the lake of fire in 19:20 and ch. 20. | Human theologian |
Chapter 20 — The Millennium, Satan’s Doom, and the Great White Throne (20:1-15)
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Millennial Reign of Christ | 20:1-10 (thousand years, Satan bound, first resurrection) | Critical | Directly collides with mainstream Sunni end-times expectation of a Mahdi-led golden age; must clarify this is Christ’s own reign, in continuity with his first coming, not a separate future figure’s rule. Historic Christian interpretive diversity over this period must also be represented fairly. | Human theologian |
| Assurance of God’s Final Victory over Evil | 20:1-3, 20:7-10 (Satan bound, then finally defeated) | Critical | The two-stage binding-then-final-defeat sequence must be preserved as a genuine finality claim distinct from Islamic eschatology’s more diffuse treatment of Iblis. | Human theologian |
| Symbolic and Apocalyptic Interpretation | 20:8 (Gog and Magog) | High | Near-duplicates the well-known Qur’anic Ya’juj wa Ma’juj end-times tradition and must be explicitly distinguished from it, not silently equated. | Human theologian |
| Intermediate State and Final Judgment | 20:1-3 (abyss), 20:11-15 (great white throne, Hades gives up its dead, second death, lake of fire, book of life) | Critical | Revelation’s three-tier structure (abyss, Hades, lake of fire) and two-stage eschatology must be kept distinct from the region’s more generic barzakh category and from collapsing all three into a single generic دوزخ (hell). | Human theologian |
| Judgment of the Wicked and Vindication of the Saints | 20:12-15 (books opened, book of life, judged according to what they had done) | Critical | Must be anchored to one’s name being in the book of life (union with Christ) rather than a balance of deeds — the central mizan-framework bridging challenge for this whole doctrine. | Human theologian |
Chapter 21 — The New Heaven and New Earth; the New Jerusalem (21:1-27) — Core Passage 21:1-8
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The New Heaven and New Earth | 21:1-8 (core passage), 21:9-27 | High | Must be taught as qualitative renewal/transformation of creation (καινός/نوی), not annihilation-and-replacement nor a cyclical rebirth reading; “no more sea” (21:1) requires explicit symbolic teaching (sea as chaos/beast-origin symbol from 13:1) or the text reads as a trivial geography note. | Human theologian |
| New Covenant Fulfillment: God Dwelling with His People | 21:3 | High | The covenant formula (“his people, their God”) must be connected explicitly back to the Incarnation (تجسد) as its culmination; قوم (people) must be clarified as God’s redeemed covenant people across all tribes, not one ethnic qawm. | Human theologian |
| Assurance of God’s Final Victory over Evil | 21:4 (“no more death, mourning, crying, pain… former things have passed away”) | Critical | This is the doctrine’s climactic statement in the whole book; must retain full finality force, not read as a merely partial or provisional improvement. | Human theologian |
| Grace and the Free Gift of Life | 21:6 (“water of life without payment”) | High | Must explicitly avoid any implication of reciprocal obligation, per the melmastia hospitality-code reciprocity risk already documented for grace in the baseline. | Human theologian |
| Deity of Christ (extended through Revelation’s titles) | 21:6 (Alpha and Omega, again) | Critical | Reapplication of the divine title first used of God the Father in 1:8; consistency of rendering with 1:8 and 22:13 required. | Human theologian |
| Adoption and Inheritance in God’s Family | 21:7 (“he will inherit… he will be my son”) | Critical | A non-blood-descended believer receiving full inheritance status is an especially sharp departure from Pashtun tribal-lineage (qawm/khel) inheritance norms; must be taught explicitly, not assumed self-evident. | Human theologian |
| Judgment of the Wicked and Vindication of the Saints | 21:8 (the cowardly, faithless, and others in the lake of fire — second death) | Critical | The vice list (cowardly/ډارن, faithless/بې ایمانه, sorcerer, idolater) must be rendered so as not to accidentally describe ordinary social fear or doubt, but settled, final unbelief; “lake of fire… second death” must be distinguished from generic دوزخ per the intermediate-state doctrine above. | Human theologian |
| The Church as Bride of Christ | 21:2, 21:9-14 (bride, wife of the Lamb, adorned) | Critical | Intersects with honor-shame dynamics around bridal purity; must be reframed around Christ’s given righteousness, not the bride’s own achieved honor. | Human theologian |
| Apostolic Foundation of the Church | 21:14 (twelve foundations, names of the twelve apostles) | Medium | رسول again risks collision with Muhammad’s title; corporate foundation-stone imagery requires the same NT-founding-office clarification as 18:20. | Native speaker review |
| Templeless Worship and the Persecuted Church | 21:22 | High | Genuine positive theological comfort for a dispersed, often secret worshiping community with no legal/public church buildings. | Human theologian |
| Unity of All Nations, Tribes, and Peoples | 21:24-26 (nations bring their glory into the city) | High | Must avoid sounding like religious pluralism while retaining full inclusive force challenging tribal-lineage status hierarchies. | Human theologian |
Chapter 22 — The River and Tree of Life; Closing Words (22:1-21)
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The New Heaven and New Earth | 22:1-5 (river and tree of life, no more curse, no more night) | High | Continues ch. 21’s qualitative-renewal teaching; the removal of “the curse” (لعنت) must connect back to Genesis-fall imagery already assumed by the audience. | Human theologian |
| Templeless Worship and the Persecuted Church | 22:3-4 (“his servants will worship him… see his face”) | High | Direct, unmediated worship and vision of God is the fulfillment of templeless access first taught at 21:22; continues the same pastoral comfort for a persecuted, dispersed church. | Human theologian |
| Prohibition of Angel Worship / Worship of God Alone | 22:8-9 (angel again refuses John’s worship) | Critical | Repeats 19:10’s pattern; must again be taught as genuine common ground with surrounding tawhid theology without undercutting the Lamb’s deity claim (22:3, “the Lamb” receives worship alongside “God”). | Human theologian |
| Inspiration and Finality of This Prophecy | 22:6-7, 22:10, 22:18-19 (trustworthy and true words; do not add or take away) | High | Must be taught as guarding specifically this completed book of prophecy, not as a general polemic device that could be misread through the shared regional tahrif framework as validating or answering claims about other scriptures’ corruption. | Human theologian |
| Messianic Promise and Davidic Covenant | 22:16 (root and descendant of David, morning star) | Critical | Christ’s own explicit self-identification with both Davidic-covenant titles and the morning star; must retain the full typological weight built up since 2:28, 3:7, and 5:5. | Human theologian |
| The Return and Reign of Christ | 22:7, 22:12, 22:20 (“I am coming soon”) | Critical | The book’s repeated closing promise must be taught as Christ’s own personal, imminent-in-certainty (not necessarily imminent-in-calendar-time) return, consistent with ch. 1, 11, and 19. | Human theologian |
| Deity of Christ (extended through Revelation’s titles) | 22:13 (Alpha and Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end) | Critical | Final reapplication of this divine title to Christ; rendering must be verbatim-consistent with 1:8 and 21:6. | Human theologian |
| Grace and the Free Gift of Life | 22:17 (“let the one who is thirsty come… take the water of life without payment”), 22:21 (grace be with all) | High | The book’s own closing invitation and benediction; must not be diluted from the no-reciprocal-obligation sense established at 21:6. | Human theologian |
| Judgment of the Wicked and Vindication of the Saints | 22:14-15 (blessed are those who wash their robes; sorcerers, idolaters excluded), 22:19 (share in the tree of life) | Critical | Continues the book-of-life/robe-washing vindication framework rather than deeds-weighing, consistent with 7:14 and 21:8. | Human theologian |

Full-Book Coverage Confirmation
Every chapter of Revelation, 1 through 22, has been reviewed above and mapped to at least one doctrine with grounded, chapter-specific translation risk reasoning. No chapter is silently omitted:
- Chapters 1-3 (Prologue and Seven Letters): establish Christophany, deity/return-of-Christ titles, and the persecution/perseverance vocabulary pattern carried through the whole book.
- Chapters 4-5 (Throne Room and Lamb): establish the Worship-of-the-Lamb and Deity-of-Christ argument at its clearest.
- Chapters 6-9 (Seals and Trumpets): establish judgment/vindication, sovereignty-over-history, and intercessory-prayer doctrine amid catastrophe.
- Chapter 10 (Little Scroll): reinforces inspiration/finality and sovereignty, a lower-density but doctrinally load-bearing chapter, explicitly noted rather than skipped.
- Chapters 11-13 (Two Witnesses, Woman/Dragon, Beast): carry the book’s single highest-stakes perseverance/testimony material and its central symbolic/apocalyptic and forbidden-legal-term (blasphemy) risks.
- Chapters 14-18 (Harvest, Bowls, Babylon): extend judgment, eternal-gospel/evangelism-safety, and separation-from-Babylon doctrine.
- Chapter 19 (Marriage Supper and Rider): the Church-as-Bride, Worship-of-the-Lamb, and Return-of-Christ doctrines converge here at maximum density.
- Chapter 20 (Millennium and Great White Throne): the Millennial Reign and Intermediate-State/Final-Judgment doctrines reach their fullest and most Sunni-eschatology-sensitive treatment.
- Chapters 21-22 (New Heaven and New Earth, core passage 21:1-8, and closing words): the curriculum’s theological anchor, where New-Heaven-and-New-Earth, Adoption/Inheritance, Grace, New-Covenant-Fulfillment, Templeless-Worship, and closing Deity-of-Christ/Return-of-Christ doctrines all converge and resolve.

Critical Risk Doctrines
The Return and Reign of Christ
Pashto name: د مسیح راستنیدنه او پاچاهي
Key terms: I am coming soon, Alpha and Omega, King of kings and Lord of lords, millennium, Son of Man
Review routing: Human theologian
Collides with mainstream Sunni end-times expectation of a Mahdi-led golden age and with ‘Islamic Emirate’ political-sovereignty framing already flagged in the baseline; Christ’s return and reign must be taught as his own personal return in continuity with his first coming, not a separate Mahdi figure or a this-worldly caliphate restoration.
Perseverance and Faithful Witness under Persecution
Pashto name: زغم او د باوري شاهدۍ ټینګار د تعقیب پر مهال
Key terms: testimony/witness, overcome, two witnesses, endurance, cowardly
Review routing: Human theologian
شاهد/شاهدي (witness) shares its root ش-ه-د with شهید (shaheed), the entrenched Islamic militant-martyrdom category guaranteeing paradise for those killed in jihad; Revelation calls for non-violent verbal testimony vindicated by God, not violent honor-martyrdom, and this collision carries severe real-world danger for a persecuted Muslim-background readership if conflated.
Judgment of the Wicked and Vindication of the Saints
Pashto name: د بدکارانو قضاوت او د مقدسانو تائید
Key terms: lake of fire, great white throne, book of life, wrath of the Lamb, souls under the altar
Review routing: Human theologian
د اور ډنډ (lake of fire) sits alongside the familiar دوزخ/Jahannam within the mizan deeds-weighing framework central to mainstream Islamic eschatology; this doctrine must be anchored to one’s name being in the book of life (union with Christ) rather than a balance of deeds, the same framework-bridging challenge already documented for baseline salvation and righteousness.
The Church as Bride of Christ
Pashto name: کلیسا د مسیح ناوې په توګه
Key terms: bride, marriage supper of the Lamb, new Jerusalem, adorned
Review routing: Human theologian
Islamic theology has no marriage-to-God/Christ metaphor; a careless rendering risks being heard as a literal deity-human marriage claim rather than the intended corporate covenant-love metaphor, and intersects with honor-shame dynamics around bridal purity that must be reframed around Christ’s given righteousness, not the bride’s own achieved honor.
Worship of the Lamb
Pashto name: د بره عبادت
Key terms: Lamb, worthy, worship (proskyneo), serve (latreuo)
Review routing: Human theologian
سجده کول and عبادت کول are the precise technical terms for worship due to God alone in Islamic theology (ibadah); their repeated application to the slain Lamb alongside God on the throne (5:8-14) is the book’s boldest, most sustained assertion that Christ shares fully in worship due to God alone, and is the paradigm case of shirk from a tawhid standpoint if not deliberately taught as intentional.
Assurance of God’s Final Victory over Evil
Pashto name: د خدای پر بدۍ د وروستي بریا ډاډ
Key terms: dragon, Satan, overcome, lake of fire, no more death
Review routing: Human theologian
شیطان shares its name with the Islamic Shaytan/Iblis, often folk-theologically diminished to a lesser jinn-related nuisance; Revelation’s Satan must be taught as a personal, powerful, but already judicially defeated cosmic enemy (12:9-12), a claim of finality mainstream Islamic eschatology does not make in the same terms.
Deity of Christ (extended through Revelation’s titles)
Pashto name: د مسیح الوهیت (د مکاشفې د لقبونو له مخې)
Key terms: Alpha and Omega, Son of Man, Word of God, King of kings, worship of the Lamb
Review routing: Human theologian
Revelation applies titles used exclusively of God the Father elsewhere (Alpha and Omega, Almighty, the worship due to God alone) identically and without qualification to Christ; this is one of the sharpest sustained deity-of-Christ arguments in the New Testament and must never be flattened to an exalted-but-created-being reading, the same paradigm-case-of-shirk risk already flagged in the baseline’s deity_of_christ entry.
Messianic Promise and Davidic Covenant
Pashto name: د مسیح وعده او د داود تړون
Key terms: Lion of Judah, Root of David, key of David, morning star
Review routing: Human theologian
Dawud is a positively regarded Quranic prophet-king but without the covenant-king-to-Messiah typology; Revelation’s repeated Davidic titles for Christ (key, root, morning star) must be taught as this typology’s fulfillment, not merely honorific historical allusion.
Prohibition of Angel Worship / Worship of God Alone
Pashto name: د پرښتو عبادت منع - یوازې د خدای عبادت
Key terms: worship God, the angel refuses worship, proskyneo
Review routing: Human theologian
This is a rare, genuine point of doctrinal agreement with the surrounding culture’s own strict tawhid theology (which also forbids worship of angels/jinn) and should be actively highlighted as common ground, even while the same identical verb is used elsewhere in the very same book to describe worship rightly given to the Lamb - a contrast that must be taught with precision so the agreement does not inadvertently undercut the Lamb’s own deity claim.
Intermediate State and Final Judgment
Pashto name: د مینځني حالت او د وروستي قضاوت زده کړه
Key terms: Hades, abyss, second death, lake of fire, book of life
Review routing: Human theologian
Revelation’s three-tier structure (abyss, Hades, lake of fire) and two-stage eschatology (intermediate state, then final judgment) must be kept distinct from the region’s more generic barzakh intermediate-state category and from collapsing all three into a single generic ‘hell’ (dozakh); flattening these distinctions loses a genuine biblical-theological distinction the text itself insists on.
The Millennial Reign of Christ
Pashto name: د مسیح زره کلن واکمني
Key terms: thousand years, Satan bound, first resurrection
Review routing: Human theologian
Beyond the significant historic Christian interpretive diversity over this period, which must be represented fairly, this reign-of-Christ concept directly collides with mainstream Sunni end-times expectation of a golden age inaugurated by the Mahdi before the final Hour; teaching must clarify this is Christ’s own reign, in continuity with his first coming, not a separate future figure’s rule.
Adoption and Inheritance in God’s Family
Pashto name: د خدای کورنۍ کې زوی توب او ورثه
Key terms: inherit, he will be my son, overcomer
Review routing: Human theologian
Same grounded reason as the baseline’s Critical adoption entry - a non-blood-descended believer receiving full inheritance status is an especially sharp departure from Pashtun tribal-lineage (qawm/khel) inheritance norms, here applied to the ‘overcomer’ promise and must be taught explicitly, not assumed as self-evident.
Blasphemy Against God (Forbidden Legal-Term Risk)
Pashto name: د خدای سپکاوی (منع شوی حقوقي اصطلاح)
Key terms: blaspheme, curse God’s name
Review routing: Human theologian
کفر (kufr) must never be used to render ‘blaspheme’ here, since it is the technical Islamic legal category underlying apostasy law; using it would associate a biblical description of the unrepentant wicked’s response to judgment with the very legal-religious charge that endangers convert readers’ lives in Taliban-controlled areas - a purely descriptive phrase (سپکاوی/توهین) must be used instead.
High Risk Doctrines
The Sovereignty of God over History
Pashto name: د خدای واکمنۍ پر تاریخ
Key terms: throne, Almighty, Alpha and Omega, providence
Review routing: Human theologian
قادر مطلق parallels the Quranic al-Qadir title, broadly compatible for God the Father, but the same title’s application to Christ (via 1:17-18) risks being flattened unless the deity claim is preserved; throne imagery must be anchored to God’s unshared cosmic sovereignty, not read as merely another regional political monarchy given the area’s turbulent political history.
The New Heaven and New Earth
Pashto name: نوی آسمان او نوی ځمکه
Key terms: new (kainos), sea no more, no more death, tree of life, curse removed
Review routing: Human theologian
Must be taught as qualitative renewal/transformation of creation, not annihilation-and-replacement nor a cyclical rebirth reading; the removal of ‘the sea’ (a symbol of chaos and the beast’s origin, 13:1) requires explicit symbolic teaching or the text reads as a trivial geography note.
Symbolic and Apocalyptic Interpretation
Pashto name: د سمبولیک او مکاشفوي تعبیر
Key terms: 144,000, beast, 666, Armageddon, Gog and Magog
Review routing: Human theologian
Symbolic numbers and figures (666, Gog and Magog, the beast) are highly susceptible to sensationalist over-literalization; given the acute political sensitivity and safety risk in the region, reckless identification with specific contemporary regimes or persons could endanger readers. Gog and Magog in particular near-duplicates the well-known Qur’anic Ya’juj wa Ma’juj end-times tradition and must be explicitly distinguished from it.
Inspiration and Finality of This Prophecy
Pashto name: د دې مکاشفې د الهام بشپړتیا
Key terms: trustworthy and true, do not add or take away, testimony of Jesus
Review routing: Human theologian
The closing warning against adding to or removing from this book’s words could be misread, through the shared regional tahrif (scriptural-corruption) framework, as either validating or unintentionally answering claims about the corruption of other scriptures; must be taught as guarding specifically this completed book of prophecy, not as a general polemic device.
Unity of All Nations, Tribes, and Peoples
Pashto name: د ټولو ملتونو، قومونو او خلکو یووالی
Key terms: every nation tribe people language, 144,000, great multitude, redeemed/purchased
Review routing: Human theologian
Must be framed to challenge, not reinforce, Pashtun tribal-lineage (qawm/khel) status-based notions of spiritual standing, while avoiding any sound of generic religious pluralism; the symbolic 144,000 (12x12x1000) must be taught as completeness of God’s people, not a literal ethnic head-count that could be misread as excluding the universal ‘every nation’ multitude described immediately after it.
Separation unto God’s Service (Come Out of Babylon)
Pashto name: د خدای خدمت لپاره بېلتون - له بابله راووځه
Key terms: Come out of her my people, Babylon, great prostitute
Review routing: Human theologian
Babylon/Babil also carries Qur’anic sorcery associations (2:102) distinct from its use here as a symbol for the final God-opposing world system; over-identifying it with any specific present-day nation-state or regime, rather than teaching it symbolically, risks real danger for readers under repressive regimes.
Grace and the Free Gift of Life
Pashto name: فضل او د ژوند وړیا ډالۍ
Key terms: without payment/freely, water of life, grace be with all
Review routing: Human theologian
The water of life offered ‘without payment’ (δωρεάν) must explicitly avoid any implication of reciprocal obligation, per the same melmastia hospitality-code reciprocity risk already documented for grace in the baseline; this is the book’s own closing emphasis and must not be diluted.
New Covenant Fulfillment: God Dwelling with His People
Pashto name: د نوي تړون بشپړتیا - د خدای د خلکو سره اوسیدنه
Key terms: tabernacle/dwelling, his people, their God, holy city
Review routing: Human theologian
The ancient covenant formula’s final fulfillment must be connected explicitly back to the Incarnation (تجسد) so it is heard as the culmination of God’s tabernacling presence in Christ, not a vague future mystical closeness; قوم (people) also denotes tribal/ethnic people-groups in Pashtun usage and must be clarified as God’s redeemed covenant people across all tribes, not one ethnic qawm.
Templeless Worship and the Persecuted Church
Pashto name: د معبد پرته عبادت او د ځورول شوې کلیسا
Key terms: no temple, the Lord God and the Lamb are its temple
Review routing: Human theologian
This vision of templeless, presence-centered worship intersects powerfully and positively with the baseline’s Critical church_as_gods_people entry, which already notes the near-total absence of legal/public church buildings for Pashto-speaking house-churches; it can be taught as genuine theological comfort and validation for a dispersed, often secret worshiping community.
The Eternal Gospel and Universal Proclamation
Pashto name: تلپاتې انجیل او نړیوال اعلان
Key terms: eternal gospel, fear God and give him glory, every nation
Review routing: Human theologian
Proclaiming the gospel ‘to every nation, tribe, language and people’ (14:6) carries the same severe, potentially life-threatening safety risk for open evangelism already documented in the baseline’s mission_to_nations and evangelism entries; must be handled with full awareness of danger to speaker and hearer alike.
Medium Risk Doctrines
Apostolic Foundation of the Church
Pashto name: د کلیسا رسولي بنسټ
Key terms: apostles and prophets, twelve foundations, names of the twelve apostles
Review routing: Native speaker review
رسول collides with Muhammad’s defining title as already documented in the baseline apostleship entry; here applied corporately to the twelve foundation-stones of the New Jerusalem, requiring the same clarification that this is a NT-founding office, not interchangeable with the Islamic prophetic-finality framework.
Heavenly Intercession and the Prayers of the Saints
Pashto name: آسماني منځګړیتوب او د مقدسانو دعاګانې
Key terms: incense, prayers of the saints, souls under the altar, how long, O Lord
Review routing: Native speaker review
The persecuted church’s prayers are pictured as literally ascending before God’s throne and provoking his response in history - a strong positive bridge already flagged in the baseline’s prayer_and_intercession entry via the nanawatai mediation custom - but must be kept distinct from any suggestion of a created intermediary (angel) receiving the prayers directly, since incense is offered ‘with’ the prayers, not as a substitute recipient.
Providence Governing Earthly Powers
Pashto name: د دنیوي واکونو پر خدای تدبیر تابع کیدل
Key terms: kings of the earth, authority given to the beast, God’s purpose accomplished
Review routing: Native speaker review
God’s sovereign permission over even hostile earthly powers must be taught as purposive providence, not impersonal fatalism (qadar), continuing the same caution already documented in the baseline’s providence entry, and must avoid suggesting divine endorsement of the beast’s actions.
Low Risk Doctrines
Thanksgiving and Heavenly Worship
Pashto name: شکر او آسماني عبادت
Key terms: worthy, thanksgiving, holy, holy, holy
Review routing: Automated review
Shukr is broadly compatible Islamic-shared vocabulary and heavenly doxology language carries low independent collision risk beyond the standard care already documented in the baseline’s thanksgiving entry.
