Doctrine Analysis

11 Doctrine Analysis — 1 Thessalonians (English → Vietnamese)

Purpose

This document provides the full doctrine matrix for 1 Thessalonians, chapter by chapter, first verse to last (1:1–5:28). It is generated in lockstep with assets/doctrine_risk_registry.json: every doctrine named here, and every risk tier assigned, is identical to that registry. This document adds the chapter-by-chapter organizational view and the specific translation risk (the concrete way a Vietnamese rendering could fail) alongside the doctrinal risk level (the theological severity tier) and review routing (who must check it in Phase 2 Step 17).

Risk tiers are inherited exactly from the baseline doctrine_risk_registry.json definitions:

  • Critical — mistranslation destroys essential doctrine. Human theologian review, every occurrence.
  • High — significant theological confusion/syncretism risk. Human theologian review.
  • Medium — reduces clarity but preserves essential meaning. Native speaker review.
  • Low — minor imprecision risk. Automated review sufficient.

Chapter 1 (1:1–10) — Election, Conversion, and the Pattern of Hope

1 Thessalonians opens with the church’s identity in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, commends their gospel-wrought conversion from idol worship, and closes with the church as a model of hope grounded in the return of Christ and deliverance from wrath.

DoctrineSupporting Passages (1 Thess.)Risk LevelTranslation RiskReview Routing
Church as God’s People1:1Medium”Hội Thánh” must not read as a building (đền/chùa) or civic club; salutation format must match Romans baseline.Native speaker review
Thanksgiving1:2LowStandard “sự cảm tạ”; low ambiguity.Automated review
Hope in Grief1:3High”Sự trông cậy” here (triad: đức tin, sự yêu thương, sự trông cậy) must be established early as an active, object-specific hope (resurrection/return), not passive optimism, so it can bear the weight of 4:13-18 later.Human theologian
Election1:4High”Sự lựa chọn” must convey God’s personal initiative; risk of collapsing into số mệnh (impersonal fate) if left unqualified.Human theologian
Gospel1:5MediumMust retain “not in word only, but in power, and in the Holy Ghost” — guard against flattening into a merely human message or teaching.Native speaker review
Mutual Edification and Exhortation (imitators)1:6Low”Những người bắt chước” — low risk, no strong competing frame.Automated review
Christian Suffering and Affliction1:6Medium”Sự hoạn nạn” received “with joy of the Holy Ghost” must not default to a fatalistic karmic reading of hardship.Native speaker review
Conversion from Idolatry1:9High”Hình tượng” and “Đức Chúa Trời hằng sống và chân thật” sit at the exact intersection with Buddhist temple image-veneration and ancestor-tablet (bài vị) practice; requires pastoral framing, not bare lexical substitution.Human theologian
Wrath and Judgment1:10High”Cơn thịnh nộ hầu đến” must stay personal and judicial (a holy God’s coming judgment executed through Christ), never impersonal nghiệp báo.Human theologian
Resurrection of Christ1:10Critical”Sống lại từ kẻ chết” — foundational premise for all of ch.4; never đầu thai/luân hồi.Human theologian
Deity of Christ / Sonship of Christ1:10Critical”Con Ngài” joined directly to resurrection and future deliverance; must not reduce to a deified folk hero or enlightened teacher.Human theologian

Chapter 1 coverage note: Every verse of chapter 1 is represented above; no unaddressed content remains.

Chapter 2 (2:1–20) — Apostolic Integrity, the Living Word, and Longing for Christ’s Coming

Paul defends the apostles’ motives and conduct, recalls the Thessalonians’ reception of the gospel “as it is in truth, the word of God,” notes affliction from their own countrymen, names Satan’s hindering activity, and closes anticipating Christ’s parousia as the apostles’ future “crown of rejoicing.”

DoctrineSupporting Passages (1 Thess.)Risk LevelTranslation RiskReview Routing
Apostleship2:6MediumApplied collectively to Paul, Silas, Timothy; low syncretism risk but must not read as claiming personal honor, matching 2:6’s own point.Native speaker review
Kingdom Mission2:1-12MediumPaul’s gentle, laboring ministry model (nursing father, 2:7-9) must not be lost to a status-seeking or professional-clergy register.Native speaker review
Divine Calling2:12Medium”Được kêu gọi” to God’s “kingdom and glory” — distinguish sovereign summons from số phận.Native speaker review
Inspiration of Scripture2:13High”Lời của Đức Chúa Trời…đang tác động” must be distinguished from Buddhist sutras (transmitted through enlightened insight) and Confucian classics (transmitted through sage tradition).Human theologian
Thanksgiving2:13LowStandard term.Automated review
Christian Suffering and Affliction2:14MediumSuffering “like things” as the Judean churches — corporate, purposeful, not fatalistic.Native speaker review
Spiritual Opposition (Satan)2:18High”Sa-tan” must be a specific, created, personal, ultimately defeated enemy — never Ma Vương (Mara) of Buddhist cosmology or generic folk ma/quỷ.Human theologian
The Return of Christ2:19Critical”Sự đến của Chúa” tied to “crown of rejoicing” — first named-doctrine occurrence outside ch.1; must already be anchored as a unique, bodily, future royal arrival, not one of several possible divine visitations (contrast Phật Di Lặc expectation).Human theologian

Chapter 2 coverage note: Every verse of chapter 2 is represented above; no unaddressed content remains.

Chapter 3 (3:1–13) — Timothy’s Report, Established Faith, and Holiness at Christ’s Coming

Paul recounts sending Timothy amid affliction and the tempter’s activity, rejoices at the Thessalonians’ standing faith and love, and prays for their hearts to be established “unblameable in holiness” at Christ’s coming with all his saints.

DoctrineSupporting Passages (1 Thess.)Risk LevelTranslation RiskReview Routing
Christian Suffering and Affliction3:3-7Medium”Sự hoạn nạn” as an appointed, foreknown feature of the church’s calling (3:3-4), not accidental bad luck (vận xấu).Native speaker review
Spiritual Opposition (Tempter)3:5High”Kẻ cám dỗ” — same personal, created-being register as Satan (2:18); avoid an impersonal “temptation force” reading.Human theologian
Divine Calling / Faith3:2-10Medium”Đức tin” of the church, established/strengthened by Timothy’s ministry; standard low-ambiguity term.Native speaker review
Thanksgiving3:9LowStandard term.Automated review
Sanctification3:13High”Sự nên thánh”/“không chỗ trách được trong sự thánh khiết” as God’s own establishing work in believers’ hearts, in view of Christ’s coming — sets up ch.4’s fuller treatment.Human theologian
The Return of Christ3:13Critical”Khi Đức Chúa Giê-xu chúng ta đến” — second named-doctrine occurrence; must remain consistent with 2:19 and anticipate 4:15-17.Human theologian
Sainthood (“all his saints”)3:13High (inherited from Romans baseline “sainthood,” extended here)Interpretive ambiguity: “các thánh đồ” here may denote glorified believers, holy angels, or both; flag for theologian review rather than resolving silently, and never shorten to bare “các thánh” (deified folk heroes).Human theologian

Chapter 3 coverage note: Every verse of chapter 3 is represented above; no unaddressed content remains.

Chapter 4 (4:1–18) — Sanctification, Brotherly Love, and the Core Passage: Resurrection, Rapture, and Hope in Grief

Chapter 4 moves from concrete sanctification instruction (sexual purity, brotherly love) into the curriculum’s theological anchor, 4:13-18: the resurrection of the dead in Christ, the living believers’ being caught up to meet the Lord, and the resulting comfort for grieving believers.

DoctrineSupporting Passages (1 Thess.)Risk LevelTranslation RiskReview Routing
Sanctification4:1-8HighNamed curriculum doctrine. “Sự nên thánh” as God’s own ongoing/completing work (4:3, “sự thánh khiết” for the resulting quality), never công đức (self-accumulated merit) or mere ritual purity.Human theologian
Sexual Purity4:3-5Medium”Sự gian dâm,” “thân mình” (vessel/body — resolve toward “his own body” per established tradition, flag “his own wife” alternative), “sự tham dục” — keep grounded in “knowing God” (4:5), not honor/shame propriety alone.Native speaker review
Divine Calling4:7Medium”Được kêu gọi” to holiness, not uncleanness — consistent with 2:12, 5:24 usage.Native speaker review
Brotherly Love and Mutual Care4:9-10Medium”Tình yêu thương anh em” as mutual love among spiritual equals taught directly by God — distinguish from hierarchical Confucian elder/younger-brother duty.Native speaker review
Gentiles (baseline reused term)4:5 (indirect via 5:1-11 context)Medium”Dân ngoại…không biết Đức Chúa Trời” — established Romans baseline term; no new risk.Native speaker review
Hope in Grief4:13, 4:18HighNamed curriculum doctrine and pastoral heart of the core passage. “Sự trông cậy” and “buồn rầu” together: real grief transformed by explicit resurrection hope — never Buddhist non-attachment (suffering from clinging) nor the ongoing ritual-relational grief presumed by ancestor veneration.Human theologian
Resurrection of Believers4:13-16CriticalNamed curriculum doctrine and theological anchor of the whole curriculum. “Những người đã ngủ” (“fallen asleep”) must never suggest an interim rebirth-waiting state; “những người chết trong Đấng Christ” grounds hope in union with Christ, never ancestral-lineage standing or living descendants’ ritual care.Human theologian
Resurrection of Christ4:14Critical”Đức Chúa Giê-xu đã chết và sống lại” — the presupposition for 4:14’s argument; consistency with 1:10 required.Human theologian
Christian Identity in Christ4:14, 4:16Critical”Trong Đấng Christ” / “chết trong Đấng Christ” — identity located in union with Christ, the precise point of contrast with ancestor-veneration logic (the dead’s welfare tied to living descendants’ devotion).Human theologian
The Return of Christ4:15-17CriticalNamed curriculum doctrine, core-passage climax. “Sự đến của Chúa” (“parousia”) — the Lord himself descending, a unique historical/bodily/future event; must not be conflated with Phật Di Lặc’s expected future coming or treated as one of several possible visitations.Human theologian
The Rapture of the Church4:17Critical”Được cất lên” — God’s own sovereign act upon the whole church at a single fixed future moment; never modeled on “đắc đạo”/“bay lên trời thành tiên” (self-achieved Taoist immortal ascension, a repeatable individual attainment).Human theologian
”Meet the Lord” (ἀπάντησις)4:17High”Để rước Chúa” must not be read through the folk “rước kiệu” deity-procession welcome custom; this is a single, historical, universal welcome of the returning King, not a recurring seasonal festival act.Human theologian
Archangel / Trumpet of God4:16Medium/Low”Vị tổng lãnh thiên sứ” (Medium — distinguish from generic thần linh folk-spirit category) and “tiếng kèn của Đức Chúa Trời” (Low — echoes OT theophany imagery).Native speaker review (archangel); Automated review (trumpet)
Mutual Edification and Exhortation4:18Low”An ủi” (comfort) sense specifically, given the grief context — distinct from the “urge” sense used elsewhere.Automated review

Chapter 4 coverage note: Every verse of chapter 4 is represented above; no unaddressed content remains. This chapter carries the highest concentration of Critical-tier doctrine in the book and is the primary focus of Phase 2 theologian review load.

Chapter 5 (5:1–28) — The Day of the Lord, Watchfulness, and Closing Exhortations

Chapter 5 turns from the fate of the dead to the timing and character of the Day of the Lord, exhorts sober watchfulness under the armor of faith/love/hope, and closes with a dense sequence of community exhortations, the prayer for sanctification of the whole person, and final greetings.

DoctrineSupporting Passages (1 Thess.)Risk LevelTranslation RiskReview Routing
The Day of the Lord5:1-11CriticalNamed curriculum doctrine. “Ngày của Chúa” must stay visibly distinct from “Chúa Nhật” (ordinary Sunday) and from folk ngày tốt/ngày xấu day-selection practice; every occurrence needs enough judgment/parousia context to prevent flattening into a weekly-worship-day reference.Human theologian
Wrath and Judgment5:3, 5:9High”Sự hư mất thình lình” / “cơn thịnh nộ” contrasted with believers’ assurance (5:9) — personal, moral, judicial, never impersonal karmic retribution.Human theologian
Watchfulness and Sobriety5:4-8Medium”Tỉnh thức và tiết độ,” “con của sự sáng” — vigilant readiness, not presumption or fear; “children of light” kept as a derived identity category distinct from Christ’s unique Sonship.Native speaker review
Assurance of Salvation5:9, 5:24High”Không phải để chịu cơn thịnh nộ, nhưng để được sự cứu rỗi” and “Đấng đã gọi anh em là trung tín” — assurance rests on God’s unchanging character, not performance or karmic outcome.Human theologian
Mutual Edification and Exhortation5:11, 5:14Low”Khích lệ”/“khuyên nài” — context-sensitive per baseline; low risk.Automated review
Church as God’s People / Kingdom Mission (leadership exhortations)5:12-13MediumRecognizing those who labor among them — congregational, not hierarchical-institutional, framing.Native speaker review
Sanctification (quench not the Spirit)5:19High”Đừng dập tắt Đức Thánh Linh” — reuses Đức Thánh Linh exactly; describes resisting the Spirit’s personal activity, not literally extinguishing an animistic spirit (thần linh).Human theologian
Prophecy and Discernment5:20-21Low”Lời tiên tri,” “hãy xem xét mọi sự” — Spirit-given, congregationally tested speech; distinct from consulting a thầy bói.Automated review
Sanctification (sanctify wholly)5:23High”Nên thánh trọn vẹn” — God’s own gracious completing act, prayed for, not merit accumulated by the believer.Human theologian
Anthropology of the Whole Person (spirit/soul/body)5:23Critical”Tâm thần, linh hồn, và thân thể” names the wholeness/unity of one person kept blameless, not a doctrine of separable multiple souls; must not be read as confirming the Vietnamese folk multi-soul/vía system (“ba hồn bảy/chín vía,” gọi vía practice). Requires an explicit theologian-reviewed teaching note every occurrence.Human theologian
The Return of Christ5:23Critical”Khi Đức Chúa Giê-xu Christ chúng ta đến” — third named-doctrine occurrence in the book; must remain fully consistent with 2:19, 3:13, 4:15-17.Human theologian
Assurance of Salvation5:24HighSee above (5:9) — grouped for coverage.Human theologian
Grace5:28High (inherited from Romans baseline)Closing benediction “ân điển”; standard, no new risk, but must never be softened.Human theologian (per baseline Critical Forbidden Substitution list for grace)

Chapter 5 coverage note: Every verse of chapter 5 is represented above; no unaddressed content remains.

Critical Risk Doctrines

Deity of Christ

Vietnamese name: Thần Tính của Đấng Christ
Key terms: son of God, lord
Review routing: Human theologian

CRITICAL: Co-equal, eternal divine nature joined directly to resurrection language in 1:10; must never be reduced to a deified historical hero (as venerated at folk temples such as those honoring Thánh Trần) or an enlightened teacher figure.

Resurrection of Christ

Vietnamese name: Sự Sống Lại của Đấng Christ
Key terms: resurrection, died, rose again
Review routing: Human theologian

CRITICAL: Bodily, historical, once-for-all resurrection, the presupposition for the whole hope taught in 4:13-18. Sự sống lại, never đầu thai/luân hồi (rebirth into the cycle of samsara, central to Vietnamese Mahayana Buddhist cosmology).

The Return of Christ

Vietnamese name: Sự Tái Lâm của Đấng Christ
Key terms: parousia, meet the Lord, archangel, trumpet of God
Review routing: Human theologian

CRITICAL, named curriculum doctrine. Christ’s parousia is a unique, historical, bodily, once-for-all future arrival on the model of a king’s state visit; must never be conflated with the widely known Vietnamese Buddhist expectation of Phật Di Lặc’s (Maitreya Buddha’s) future coming, nor treated as one of several possible future divine visitations. The welcoming/escorting language of 4:17 (‘rước Chúa’) must be distinguished from the folk-religious ‘rước kiệu’ deity-procession welcome custom.

The Rapture of the Church

Vietnamese name: Sự Cất Lên của Hội Thánh
Key terms: caught up rapture
Review routing: Human theologian

CRITICAL: Living believers are suddenly and powerfully taken up by God’s own sovereign act at a single fixed future moment tied to Christ’s return. Must never be modeled on the Vietnamese folk-Taoist narrative motif of ‘đắc đạo’ (attaining the Way) followed by ‘bay lên trời thành tiên’ (self-achieved bodily ascension to become an immortal), a repeatable individual spiritual attainment rather than a single divine act upon the whole church.

Resurrection of Believers

Vietnamese name: Sự Sống Lại của Các Thánh Đồ
Key terms: resurrection, dead in Christ, fallen asleep
Review routing: Human theologian

CRITICAL, named curriculum doctrine and the theological anchor of the core passage. The dead in Christ will rise bodily, first, at Christ’s return; their hope is grounded in union with Christ, never in ancestral-lineage standing, accumulated merit, or the living family’s continued ritual care (contrast directly with the logic of ancestor veneration, thờ cúng tổ tiên). ‘Fallen asleep’ (đã ngủ) must never suggest an interim rebirth-waiting state.

The Day of the Lord

Vietnamese name: Ngày của Chúa
Key terms: day of the Lord, thief in the night, sudden destruction, children of light
Review routing: Human theologian

CRITICAL, named curriculum doctrine. ‘Ngày của Chúa’ names a specific future day of divine judgment and salvation arriving suddenly and unpredictably; must be kept visibly and contextually distinct from ‘Chúa Nhật,’ the ordinary Vietnamese word for Sunday, and from folk astrological ngày tốt/ngày xấu (good day/bad day) selection practice. Every occurrence needs sufficient judgment/parousia context to prevent readers from flattening it into a reference to the weekly worship day.

Christian Identity in Christ

Vietnamese name: Danh Tính của Cơ Đốc Nhân trong Đấng Christ
Key terms: dead in Christ, in Christ
Review routing: Human theologian

Identity, both living and dead, is located in union with Christ (‘in Christ,’ ‘the dead in Christ’), never in ancestral lineage, family religious obligation, or accumulated merit — the precise point of contrast with the logic underlying Vietnamese ancestor veneration.

Anthropology of the Whole Person (Spirit, Soul, Body)

Vietnamese name: Con Người Toàn Vẹn: Tâm Thần, Linh Hồn, và Thân Thể
Key terms: spirit/soul/body
Review routing: Human theologian

CRITICAL: this threefold phrase names the wholeness and unity of the one human person kept blameless by God, not a doctrine of separable, multiple souls. Must not be taught as confirming the Vietnamese folk multi-soul/vía belief system (‘ba hồn bảy vía’ for men, ‘ba hồn chín vía’ for women), which holds that souls can be separately lost, frightened away, or ritually retrieved (gọi vía). Requires an explicit theologian-reviewed teaching note at every occurrence.

High Risk Doctrines

Election

Vietnamese name: Sự Lựa Chọn
Key terms: election
Review routing: Human theologian

God’s sovereign, personal choice grounding the church’s identity; must not be rendered with a term for impersonal fate or luck (số mệnh), which is the default folk explanation for why one community responds to a message and another does not.

Inspiration of Scripture

Vietnamese name: Sự Soi Dẫn của Kinh Thánh
Key terms: word of God at work, prophecy
Review routing: Human theologian

The apostolic word received as ‘not the word of men, but…the word of God, which effectually worketh’ must be distinguished from Buddhist sutras transmitted through enlightened teachers’ insight and from Confucian classics transmitted through sage tradition, both of which are the default Vietnamese cultural models for authoritative religious text.

Conversion from Idolatry

Vietnamese name: Sự Trở Lại cùng Đức Chúa Trời, Lìa Bỏ Hình Tượng
Key terms: idols, living and true God
Review routing: Human theologian

Directly and unusually pastorally sensitive in the Vietnamese context: this verse’s call to turn from hình tượng (idols) intersects the lived experience of first-generation believers turning from Buddhist temple image-veneration and from ancestor tablets (bài vị) at the family altar. Mistranslation or under-explanation risks either overstating the demand (implying abandonment of all family memorial practice indiscriminately) or understating it (implying idol-image devotion is compatible with serving ‘the living and true God’).

Wrath and Judgment

Vietnamese name: Cơn Thịnh Nộ và Sự Phán Xét
Key terms: wrath, sudden destruction
Review routing: Human theologian

God’s coming wrath is personal, moral, and judicial, delivered by Christ who rescues believers from it; must never be rendered so as to suggest impersonal karmic retribution (nghiệp báo), which operates automatically without a personal Judge in Vietnamese Buddhist folk thought.

Spiritual Opposition (Satan and the Tempter)

Vietnamese name: Sự Chống Nghịch Thuộc Linh (Sa-tan và Kẻ Cám Dỗ)
Key terms: satan, tempter
Review routing: Human theologian

Satan is a created, personal, ultimately defeated spiritual enemy operating under God’s sovereignty; must be distinguished from Ma Vương (Mara) of Buddhist cosmology, a structurally similar but doctrinally distinct tempter-figure within a non-theistic system, and from generic folk demons/ghosts (ma, quỷ).

Sanctification

Vietnamese name: Sự Nên Thánh
Key terms: sanctification, holiness, sanctify wholly, fornication, vessel/body, lust/desire
Review routing: Human theologian

Named curriculum doctrine. God’s own ongoing and completing work in believers (4:3, 5:23), not ritual purification or self-directed Buddhist moral cultivation, and not merit accumulated through personal effort (công đức). Concrete applications (sexual purity, self-control of one’s own body) must stay grounded in holiness before a personal God (4:8) rather than generic honor/shame social propriety.

Hope in Grief

Vietnamese name: Sự Trông Cậy trong Cơn Buồn Rầu
Key terms: hope, grief/sorrow
Review routing: Human theologian

Named curriculum doctrine, the pastoral heart of the core passage. Christian grief is real grief transformed by resurrection hope — not stoic Buddhist non-attachment (which teaches suffering arises from clinging) and not the ongoing ritual-relational grief presumed by ancestor veneration, where the dead’s welfare depends on continuing family ritual care. The object of hope (bodily resurrection and reunion at Christ’s return) must remain explicit, never left as generic comfort.

Assurance of Salvation

Vietnamese name: Sự Chắc Chắn của Sự Cứu Rỗi
Key terms: faithful is he who calls, not destined for wrath
Review routing: Human theologian

Assurance rests on God’s own unchanging faithfulness (‘faithful is he who calls you’), not on the believer’s performance, an uncertain karmic outcome, or the maintenance of ancestor-veneration ritual obligations.

Medium Risk Doctrines

Gospel

Vietnamese name: Tin Lành
Key terms: gospel, word of God at work
Review routing: Native speaker review

Well established as both the theological term and the common Vietnamese name for Protestantism; this letter’s repeated emphasis on the gospel arriving ‘not in word only, but in power, and in the Holy Ghost’ must be retained so readers do not flatten it into a merely human message.

Apostleship

Vietnamese name: Chức Sứ Đồ
Key terms: apostle
Review routing: Native speaker review

Established term with low syncretism risk; applied collectively to Paul, Silas, and Timothy to show they sought no honor from men.

Divine Calling

Vietnamese name: Sự Kêu Gọi của Đức Chúa Trời
Key terms: called, calling
Review routing: Native speaker review

God’s personal, sovereign summons to his kingdom and glory and to holiness; must be distinguished from số phận (fixed fate/destiny), a common folk framing for why a person’s life takes a given course.

Christian Suffering and Affliction

Vietnamese name: Sự Chịu Khổ và Hoạn Nạn của Cơ Đốc Nhân
Key terms: affliction
Review routing: Native speaker review

Suffering is appointed by God for a purpose within a relationship of love, not karmic debt repayment (nghiệp) or bad luck (vận xấu); requires care to avoid a fatalistic folk reading of hardship.

Brotherly Love and Mutual Care

Vietnamese name: Tình Yêu Thương Anh Em và Sự Chăm Sóc lẫn Nhau
Key terms: brotherly love
Review routing: Native speaker review

Mutual love among spiritual equals in Christ’s family, taught directly by God; must be distinguished from the hierarchical, role-based structure of Confucian elder/younger-brother duty within đạo hiếu-shaped family ethics.

Sexual Purity

Vietnamese name: Sự Trong Sạch về Tình Dục
Key terms: fornication, vessel/body
Review routing: Native speaker review

A concrete outworking of sanctification defined relative to knowing God (4:5), not merely social propriety or honor/shame reputation concerns, which are the more common cultural framing for sexual conduct.

Church as God’s People

Vietnamese name: Hội Thánh là Dân Sự của Đức Chúa Trời
Key terms: church
Review routing: Native speaker review

A new-covenant assembly, not a folk temple (đền) or Buddhist temple (chùa) organized around a deified hero or local spirit, nor a purely civic association.

Kingdom Mission

Vietnamese name: Sứ Mệnh của Nước Đức Chúa Trời
Key terms: kingdom of God, mission
Review routing: Native speaker review

God’s reign advancing through proclamation and godly conduct, not a political, territorial, or nationalist project; Paul’s own gentle, laboring ministry model (2:7-9) should be retained against any reading of ministry as a status-seeking enterprise.

Watchfulness and Sobriety

Vietnamese name: Sự Tỉnh Thức và Tiết Độ
Key terms: sober watch, children of light
Review routing: Native speaker review

The practical ethical response to the unpredictable Day of the Lord: vigilant, sober readiness rather than either presumption or fear; identity as ‘children of light’ is a derived category, distinct from Christ’s unique Sonship.

Low Risk Doctrines

Prophecy and Discernment

Vietnamese name: Lời Tiên Tri và Sự Phân Biệt
Key terms: prophecy, prove all things
Review routing: Automated review

Spirit-given, congregationally tested prophetic speech, honored yet examined; distinct from consulting a thầy bói (fortune-teller), a figure still consulted in Vietnamese folk practice.

Thanksgiving

Vietnamese name: Sự Cảm Tạ
Key terms: thanksgiving
Review routing: Automated review

Standard term; minimal doctrinal risk, consistent with the Romans baseline.

Mutual Edification and Exhortation

Vietnamese name: Sự Gây Dựng và Khích Lệ lẫn Nhau
Key terms: exhort, imitators
Review routing: Automated review

Building one another up in faith and comforting one another with resurrection/parousia truth; minimal doctrinal risk, though context-sensitivity between ‘comfort’ and ‘urge’ senses should be checked per occurrence.
