Doctrine Analysis
11 Doctrine Analysis — Revelation (English → Vietnamese)
This document executes PRD Phase 1 Steps 4–5: a full doctrine matrix and chapter-by-chapter coverage log for the entire book of Revelation (chapters 1–22), consistent with — and never contradicting — assets/doctrine_risk_registry.json. Doctrine names, risk tiers, and review routing below are reproduced exactly as recorded in that registry. This document adds the supporting-passage breadth and per-chapter coverage log required for full-book PRD compliance; it does not alter any risk tier.
Risk tiers (baseline definitions, unchanged):
- Critical — mistranslation destroys essential doctrine; human theologian review required for every occurrence.
- High — significant theological confusion/syncretism risk; human theologian review required.
- Medium — reduces clarity but preserves essential meaning; native speaker review recommended.
- Low — minor imprecision; automated review sufficient.
Section A — Full Doctrine Matrix (Whole-Curriculum View)
| # | Doctrine (English / Vietnamese) | Risk | Supporting Passages (Revelation) | Translation Risk Notes | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | The Return and Reign of Christ / Sự Trở Lại và Vương Quyền của Đấng Christ | Critical | 1:7; 1:8; 11:15; 17:14; 19:11-16; 20:4-6; 22:7,12,20 | Must be taught as a single, personal, bodily, historical event consummating God’s kingdom — not absorbed into cyclical Buddhist kalpa-renewal patterns, and not reduced to a purely symbolic/spiritual “reign.” “Vua của các vua, Chúa của các chúa” and “Ta đến mau chóng” require verbatim cross-document consistency equal to Rom 8:28/10:9. | Human theologian |
| 2 | The Sovereignty of God over History / Quyền Tối Thượng của Đức Chúa Trời trên Lịch Sử | High | 1:8; 4:1-11; 5:1-14; 10:6-7; 17:17; 21:6 | God’s purposive, personal control over history must be distinguished from số trời/nghiệp (impersonal fate/karma); throne-room imagery must retain a personal Sovereign directing history toward a known goal. | Human theologian |
| 3 | Perseverance and Faithful Witness under Persecution / Sự Bền Đỗ và Lời Chứng Trung Tín trong Sự Bắt Bớ | High | 1:9; 2:10; 6:9-11; 7:14; 12:11; 13:10; 14:12 | Victory through testimony is grounded in Christ’s blood and Spirit-empowerment, not self-achieved attainment resembling Buddhist self-liberation; “chứng nhân” kept distinct from secular hero/martyr categories (liệt sĩ). | Human theologian |
| 4 | Judgment of the Wicked and Vindication of the Saints / Sự Đoán Phạt Kẻ Ác và Sự Minh Chứng cho Các Thánh Đồ | Critical | 6:9-11; 14:9-11; 14:19; 16:1-21; 18:1-24; 19:11-21; 20:11-15; 21:8 | A single, decisive, non-repeating judgment by a personal God; sách sự sống never a karmic ledger (sổ sinh tử); lake of fire/second death never one stage of a rebirth cycle. | Human theologian |
| 5 | The New Heaven and New Earth / Trời Mới và Đất Mới (CORE PASSAGE DOCTRINE) | Critical | 21:1-8; 21:9-22:5 | Consummated new creation descends from God to a renewed physical earth by grace — never framed as ascent to, or rebirth into, the Pure Land (Tây Phương Cực Lạc) attained by merit. Highest cross-document consistency priority in the curriculum. | Human theologian |
| 6 | The Church as Bride of Christ / Hội Thánh là Cô Dâu của Đấng Christ | Critical | 19:6-9; 21:2; 21:9-14 | The Bride’s identity/beauty is grace-given by the Bridegroom, not earned nor absorbed into a husband’s lineage/ancestor-worship obligations, as in the traditional Vietnamese bridal pattern. | Human theologian |
| 7 | Worship of the Lamb / Sự Thờ Phượng Chiên Con | Critical | 4:1-11; 5:1-14; 7:9-12; 13:4,8; 15:3-4; 22:3 | Worship (thờ phượng) is exclusively due God/the Lamb, sharply distinguished from thờ cúng tổ tiên (ancestor worship) and thờ thần (folk-temple worship); explicit counterfeit-worship contrast with ch.13. | Human theologian |
| 8 | Symbolic and Apocalyptic Interpretation / Nguyên Tắc Giải Nghĩa Biểu Tượng và Khải Thị | High | 1:1; 12:3-9; 13:1-18; 16:16; 17:1-18; 20:1-7 | Requires explicit caution against both over-literalization (forced modern political/technological identification) and dismissal as folk fiction; distinguish controlled apocalyptic symbol from open-ended folk allegory/fortune-telling symbolism. | Human theologian |
| 9 | Assurance of God’s Final Victory over Evil / Sự Chắc Chắn về Chiến Thắng Cuối Cùng của Đức Chúa Trời trên Sự Ác | Critical | 12:7-11; 19:19-21; 20:1-3; 20:7-10; 21:4 | Evil’s defeat is certain, total, grounded in Christ’s finished atoning work — not an uncertain outcome subject to accumulated merit or cosmic-cycle reversal; 12:9-11 is the doctrinal anchor. | Human theologian |
| 10 | Deity and Sonship of Christ in Revelation / Thần Tính và Địa Vị Con của Đấng Christ trong Sách Khải Huyền | Critical | 1:8; 1:13-17; 19:13; 21:7; 22:13 | Co-equal divine identity (“Ngôi Lời của Đức Chúa Trời,” “An-pha và Ô-mê-ga”) anchored to baseline Critical Incarnation/Deity-of-Christ entries; never diluted to a deified folk hero or venerated teacher. | Human theologian |
| 11 | Inspiration and Authority of Prophetic Scripture / Sự Soi Dẫn và Quyền Uy của Lời Tiên Tri trong Kinh Thánh | High | 1:1-3; 1:19; 21:5; 22:6-7; 22:18-19 | Revelation’s self-attested reliability as divine prophecy must be distinguished from Buddhist sutras (enlightened-teacher transmission) and folk fortune-telling texts (sách bói); “do not add or take away” guards a fixed, complete disclosure, not an evolving oracle. | Human theologian |
| 12 | Identity and Defeat of Satan / Bản Chất và Sự Thất Bại của Sa-tan | Critical | 12:3-17; 20:1-3; 20:7-10 | Single highest-severity destination-language risk: δράκων/con rồng collides with the sacred national-origin symbol “con Rồng cháu Tiên.” Every occurrence requires a mandatory teaching note distinguishing this monstrous, satanic figure from the benevolent cultural dragon. | Human theologian |
| 13 | The Beast and Idolatrous Worship of the Beast / Con Thú và Sự Thờ Phượng Hình Tượng Con Thú | Critical | 13:1-18; 14:9-11; 16:2; 19:20; 20:4 | Counterfeit-worship case study; given prevalence of image/statue veneration on ancestor altars and folk temples, requires pastoral sensitivity distinguishing ordinary ancestor-honoring custom from the idolatrous, allegiance-marking worship condemned here. | Human theologian |
| 14 | Final Judgment, Hades, and the Book of Life / Sự Phán Xét Cuối Cùng, Âm Phủ, và Sách Sự Sống | Critical | 1:18; 3:5; 6:8; 13:8; 20:11-15 | Âm phủ is a temporary intermediate state under God’s sovereignty, itself finally destroyed (20:14) — not an eternal, self-operating underworld bureaucracy (Diêm Vương’s courts) from which rebirth occurs; sách sự sống distinguished from sổ sinh tử. | Human theologian |
| 15 | Eternal Life and the Water of Life / Sự Sống Đời Đời và Nước Sự Sống | High | 21:6; 22:1-2; 22:17 | Eternal life is freely given (nhưng không) from a personal, sovereign source, not a jeweled paradise-reward reached through meritorious rebirth into the Pure Land. | Human theologian |
| 16 | Covenant Fulfillment and the Davidic Promise / Sự Ứng Nghiệm Giao Ước và Lời Hứa với Đa-vít | Medium | 3:7; 5:5; 21:7; 21:12-14; 22:16 | Requires OT covenant background teaching for low-OT-literacy readers; comparatively low direct cultural-collision risk, primarily unfamiliarity rather than syncretism. | Native speaker review |
| 17 | Call to Repentance in the Seven Churches / Lời Kêu Gọi Ăn Năn trong Bảy Hội Thánh | Medium | 2:1-3:22 | Straightforward pastoral exhortation, low syncretism risk; “ăn năn” well-established; keep “the one who overcomes” consistent with 12:11/21:7. | Native speaker review |
| 18 | Unity of the Redeemed from Every Nation / Sự Hiệp Một của Dân Được Cứu từ Mọi Dân Tộc | Medium | 5:9; 7:9; 21:24-26; 22:2 | Extends baseline Unity of Jews/Gentiles to a fully realized multinational vision; requires connecting twelve-tribe symbolism to the multinational “great multitude” for OT-ethnography-unfamiliar readers. | Native speaker review |
| 19 | The Holy Spirit and the Seven Spirits before the Throne / Đức Thánh Linh và Bảy Thánh Linh trước Ngai | Critical | 1:4; 3:1; 4:5; 5:6; 2:7,11,17,29; 3:6,13,22 | The symbolic sevenfold depiction of the one Holy Spirit must never default to bare “thần”/“thần linh” (folk spirit category); every occurrence requires explicit teaching that this is Đức Thánh Linh in sevenfold-symbolized fullness, not a folk-pantheon. | Human theologian |
| 20 | Marriage Supper of the Lamb and Consummation / Tiệc Cưới Chiên Con và Sự Hoàn Tất | Critical | 19:6-9 | The Bride’s readiness (“she has made herself ready”) is Christ-given, grace-enabled, not self-achieved merit — paralleling baseline’s rejection of phước đức/công đức as ground of standing. | Human theologian |
| 21 | Grace and the Free Gift of Salvation in Revelation / Ân Điển và Sự Cứu Rỗi Nhưng Không trong Sách Khải Huyền | High | 1:5; 7:14; 21:6; 22:17; 22:21 | Extends baseline Grace’s Critical merit-contrast into Revelation’s climactic invitations and benediction; 22:17’s “without payment” must not be blurred into an achievement-based entry requirement. | Human theologian |
| 22 | Heavenly Worship and the New Song / Sự Thờ Phượng trên Trời và Bài Ca Mới | Medium | 4:8-11; 5:8-14; 14:3; 15:3-4; 19:1-6 | Comparatively low collision risk; elders/living creatures consistently taught as worshippers directing praise to God, never as objects of veneration (avoiding conflation with Confucian elder/ancestor veneration). | Native speaker review |
Risk summary (must match doctrine_risk_registry.json exactly): Critical: 12 | High: 6 | Medium: 4 | Low: 0 | Theologian review required: 18 | Native speaker review: 4 | Automated only: 0.

Coverage confirmation: All 22 chapters of Revelation have been reviewed. No chapter was silently omitted. Chapters 10, 15, 16, and 18 are explicitly logged as continuity chapters (extending an already-analyzed doctrine with no new term class), consistent with the PRD’s full-coverage mandate.
This analysis must be read alongside 08_core_glossary.md (term-level detail) and assets/doctrine_risk_registry.json (the authoritative risk tiers and routing, reproduced without alteration above). Any future revision to doctrine tiers must update both documents together.
Critical Risk Doctrines
The Return and Reign of Christ
Vietnamese name: Sự Trở Lại và Vương Quyền của Đấng Christ
Key terms: coming quickly, King of kings and Lord of lords, the kingdom of the world has become, rider on the white horse, reign
Review routing: Human theologian
Christ’s return must be taught as a single, personal, bodily, historical event bringing God’s kingdom to consummation — not absorbed into the cyclical cosmic renewal patterns of Buddhist kalpas, nor reduced to a purely symbolic/spiritual ‘reign’ with no literal return. ‘Vua của các vua, Chúa của các chúa’ and ‘Ta đến mau chóng’ require the same verbatim cross-document consistency the baseline gives Romans 8:28/10:9.
Judgment of the Wicked and Vindication of the Saints
Vietnamese name: Sự Đoán Phạt Kẻ Ác và Sự Minh Chứng cho Các Thánh Đồ
Key terms: great white throne, book of life, lake of fire, second death, wine of the wrath of God, souls of those slain
Review routing: Human theologian
Final judgment must be rendered as a single, decisive, non-repeating event determined by a personal God, using a gracious registry of the redeemed (sách sự sống) — never as a karmic ledger (sổ sinh tử) administered by an underworld bureaucracy (Diêm Vương), and never allowing the lake of fire/second death to be read as one stage in an ongoing cycle of rebirth through Buddhist/Taoist hell realms (địa ngục).
The New Heaven and New Earth
Vietnamese name: Trời Mới và Đất Mới
Key terms: new heaven and new earth, new Jerusalem, I make all things new, coming down out of heaven from God, no more sea
Review routing: Human theologian
The consummated new creation must be taught as descending from God to a renewed physical earth by grace and divine initiative — never as an ascent to, or reincarnation into, the Amitābha Pure Land (Tây Phương Cực Lạc) attained through accumulated merit. This is the core-passage doctrine and carries the highest cross-document consistency priority in the curriculum.
The Church as Bride of Christ
Vietnamese name: Hội Thánh là Cô Dâu của Đấng Christ
Key terms: bride, wife of the Lamb, marriage of the Lamb, adorned, New Jerusalem
Review routing: Human theologian
The Bride’s identity, beauty, and status must be taught as grace-given by the Bridegroom, not earned or absorbed into her husband’s family lineage and ancestor-worship obligations (thờ cúng tổ tiên) as in the traditional Vietnamese bridal pattern; this doctrine requires careful, sensitive distinction from that cultural marriage model.
Worship of the Lamb
Vietnamese name: Sự Thờ Phượng Chiên Con
Key terms: worthy, the Lamb, worship (proskyneo), new song, elders, living creatures, worship the beast
Review routing: Human theologian
Worship (thờ phượng) must be taught as exclusively due to God and the Lamb, sharply distinguished from the same root word’s use in ancestor worship (thờ cúng tổ tiên) and folk-temple worship (thờ thần), and explicitly contrasted with the counterfeit worship of the beast (ch.13) — the book’s own structure makes this contrast a deliberate teaching point, not an incidental risk.
Assurance of God’s Final Victory over Evil
Vietnamese name: Sự Chắc Chắn về Chiến Thắng Cuối Cùng của Đức Chúa Trời trên Sự Ác
Key terms: they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, the dragon thrown down, Satan bound, the devil… thrown into the lake of fire, no more curse, he will wipe every tear
Review routing: Human theologian
Evil’s defeat must be taught as certain, total, and grounded in Christ’s finished atoning work — not as an uncertain outcome subject to accumulating enough merit or subject to reversal within an ongoing cosmic cycle; the dragon’s defeat (12:9-11) is the doctrine’s central anchor and must not be softened by the cultural reverence Vietnamese tradition holds for the dragon symbol generally.
Deity and Sonship of Christ in Revelation
Vietnamese name: Thần Tính và Địa Vị Con của Đấng Christ trong Sách Khải Huyền
Key terms: Son of Man, Word of God, Alpha and Omega, the Lamb, he will be my son
Review routing: Human theologian
Christ’s co-equal divine identity, expressed through titles like ‘Ngôi Lời của Đức Chúa Trời’ and ‘An-pha và Ô-mê-ga,’ must be kept anchored to the baseline’s Critical Incarnation/Deity of Christ entries; must not be diluted into an honored deified figure or teacher analogous to venerated folk heroes.
Identity and Defeat of Satan
Vietnamese name: Bản Chất và Sự Thất Bại của Sa-tan
Key terms: the dragon, that ancient serpent, the accuser, Satan bound a thousand years, thrown into the lake of fire
Review routing: Human theologian
The single highest-severity destination-language risk in the curriculum: δράκων is rendered ‘con rồng,’ the same word naming the sacred, auspicious national-origin symbol (‘con Rồng cháu Tiên’) and imperial emblem in Vietnamese culture. Every occurrence requires a mandatory explicit teaching note distinguishing John’s specific monstrous, satanic figure (identified as Satan in 12:9) from the benevolent cultural dragon; without this note, readers may unconsciously import positive cultural associations into the text’s most hostile figure.
The Beast and Idolatrous Worship of the Beast
Vietnamese name: Con Thú và Sự Thờ Phượng Hình Tượng Con Thú
Key terms: the beast, mark of the beast, image of the beast, 666, worship the beast
Review routing: Human theologian
Compelled worship of the beast’s image is the book’s counterfeit-worship case study; given the prevalence of image and statue veneration on Vietnamese ancestor altars and in folk temples, this doctrine requires pastoral sensitivity paired with doctrinal clarity — distinguishing ordinary Vietnamese ancestor-honoring customs from the specifically idolatrous, allegiance-marking worship condemned here, without dismissing the real cultural weight of the former.
Final Judgment, Hades, and the Book of Life
Vietnamese name: Sự Phán Xét Cuối Cùng, Âm Phủ, và Sách Sự Sống
Key terms: Hades, book of life, great white throne, Death and Hades gave up their dead
Review routing: Human theologian
Âm phủ must be taught as a temporary intermediate state under God’s sovereignty, itself finally destroyed (20:14) — not an eternal, self-operating underworld bureaucracy (Diêm Vương’s courts) from which rebirth occurs; sách sự sống must be taught as God’s gracious registry of the redeemed through the Lamb, sharply distinguished from the karmic ledger ‘sổ sinh tử.‘
The Holy Spirit and the Seven Spirits before the Throne
Vietnamese name: Đức Thánh Linh và Bảy Thánh Linh trước Ngai
Key terms: the seven spirits, what the Spirit says to the churches
Review routing: Human theologian
The symbolic sevenfold depiction of the one Holy Spirit must never default to bare ‘thần’ or ‘thần linh,’ the broad Vietnamese folk category of spirits and local deities (including tutelary land spirits and ancestor spirits); every occurrence requires explicit teaching that this is Đức Thánh Linh in complete, sevenfold-symbolized fullness, not a folk-pantheon of multiple spirit-beings.
Marriage Supper of the Lamb and Consummation
Vietnamese name: Tiệc Cưới Chiên Con và Sự Hoàn Tất
Key terms: marriage of the Lamb, wedding supper, blessed are those invited, she has made herself ready
Review routing: Human theologian
The Bride’s readiness (‘she has made herself ready,’ 19:7) must be taught as a Christ-given, grace-enabled readiness (echoing ‘adorned’ in 21:2), not self-achieved merit accumulated by the Bride herself, paralleling the baseline’s rejection of phước đức/công đức as the ground of standing before God.
High Risk Doctrines
The Sovereignty of God over History
Vietnamese name: Quyền Tối Thượng của Đức Chúa Trời trên Lịch Sử
Key terms: Almighty, throne, seven-sealed scroll, Alpha and Omega, mystery of God
Review routing: Human theologian
God’s total, purposive control over the unfolding of history must be distinguished from số trời or nghiệp (impersonal fate/karma governing events); the throne-room imagery must retain a personal sovereign directing history toward a known goal, not an impersonal cosmic mechanism.
Perseverance and Faithful Witness under Persecution
Vietnamese name: Sự Bền Đỗ và Lời Chứng Trung Tín trong Sự Bắt Bớ
Key terms: testimony, witness, the one who overcomes, great tribulation, patient endurance of the saints, they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death
Review routing: Human theologian
Victory through testimony must be taught as grounded in Christ’s blood and empowered by his Spirit, not self-achieved spiritual attainment resembling Buddhist self-liberation through discipline and insight; ‘chứng nhân’ must also be kept distinct from secular hero/martyr veneration categories (e.g., liệt sĩ) familiar in Vietnamese national memory culture.
Symbolic and Apocalyptic Interpretation
Vietnamese name: Nguyên Tắc Giải Nghĩa Biểu Tượng và Khải Thị
Key terms: 666, the beast, Babylon, Armageddon, the dragon, seven spirits, thousand years
Review routing: Human theologian
Symbolic numbers, beasts, and place-names require explicit interpretive caution against both over-literalization (forcing modern political/technological identifications) and dismissal as mere fiction; Vietnamese learners accustomed to allegorical folk-religious storytelling need guidance distinguishing controlled, divinely-given apocalyptic symbol from open-ended folk allegory or fortune-telling symbolism.
Inspiration and Authority of Prophetic Scripture
Vietnamese name: Sự Soi Dẫn và Quyền Uy của Lời Tiên Tri trong Kinh Thánh
Key terms: Write, these words are trustworthy and true, book of this prophecy, do not add or take away
Review routing: Human theologian
Revelation’s own repeated claim to be reliable, divinely given prophecy must be distinguished from Buddhist sutras transmitted through an enlightened teacher’s insight and from folk fortune-telling texts (sách bói); the warning against ‘adding or taking away’ (22:18-19) should be taught as guarding a fixed, complete divine disclosure, not an evolving oracle.
Eternal Life and the Water of Life
Vietnamese name: Sự Sống Đời Đời và Nước Sự Sống
Key terms: spring of the water of life, river of the water of life, tree of life, freely
Review routing: Human theologian
Eternal life must be taught as freely given (nhưng không) from a personal, sovereign source — the throne of God and the Lamb — not as a jeweled paradise-reward reached through meritorious rebirth into the Buddhist Pure Land (Tây Phương Cực Lạc).
Grace and the Free Gift of Salvation in Revelation
Vietnamese name: Ân Điển và Sự Cứu Rỗi Nhưng Không trong Sách Khải Huyền
Key terms: freely, washed in the blood of the Lamb, the grace of the Lord Jesus be with all, without payment
Review routing: Human theologian
Extends the baseline Grace doctrine’s Critical merit-contrast (phước đức/công đức, ơn nghĩa) into Revelation’s climactic invitations and closing benediction; the free, unearned nature of the invitation in 22:17 (‘let the one who is thirsty come… take the water of life without payment’) must not be blurred into an achievement-based entry requirement.
Medium Risk Doctrines
Covenant Fulfillment and the Davidic Promise
Vietnamese name: Sự Ứng Nghiệm Giao Ước và Lời Hứa với Đa-vít
Key terms: key of David, Root of David, he will be my son, twelve tribes, twelve apostles
Review routing: Native speaker review
Requires OT covenant background teaching for readers with low OT narrative literacy; comparatively low direct cultural-collision risk, primarily a matter of unfamiliarity rather than syncretism, consistent with the baseline’s Davidic Covenant entry.
Call to Repentance in the Seven Churches
Vietnamese name: Lời Kêu Gọi Ăn Năn trong Bảy Hội Thánh
Key terms: repent, I know your works, lukewarm, the one who overcomes, synagogue of Satan
Review routing: Native speaker review
Straightforward pastoral exhortation with comparatively low syncretism risk; ‘ăn năn’ is an established term. Care is needed only to keep ‘the one who overcomes’ consistent with its later theological development in 12:11 and 21:7.
Unity of the Redeemed from Every Nation
Vietnamese name: Sự Hiệp Một của Dân Được Cứu từ Mọi Dân Tộc
Key terms: great multitude, every nation tribe people and language, the nations will be healed, foundations and gates
Review routing: Native speaker review
Extends the baseline Unity of Jews and Gentiles doctrine to a fully realized multinational vision; low direct cultural-collision risk but requires connecting Israel’s twelve-tribe symbolism with the multinational ‘great multitude’ for readers unfamiliar with OT ethnography.
Heavenly Worship and the New Song
Vietnamese name: Sự Thờ Phượng trên Trời và Bài Ca Mới
Key terms: new song, living creatures, twenty-four elders, song of Moses and of the Lamb, Hallelujah
Review routing: Native speaker review
Comparatively low direct collision risk; primary task is ensuring the elders and living creatures are consistently taught as worshippers directing praise to God, never as objects of veneration themselves (avoiding conflation with Confucian elder/ancestor veneration).
