Doctrine Analysis
Doctrine Analysis — 2 Corinthians — English → Nepali
Purpose
This document is the full doctrine matrix for the 2 Corinthians curriculum, extending the baseline Romans doctrine_risk_registry.json conventions without contradicting them. It is fully consistent with assets/doctrine_risk_registry.json for this curriculum: same 27 doctrines, same risk tiers, same review routing. Coverage spans every chapter of 2 Corinthians (1–13), with 2 Corinthians 5:11-21 serving as the theological anchor for Reconciliation with God and New Creation in Christ — not as the boundary of analysis. Chapters or sections contributing no new doctrinal risk beyond what is already tabulated are explicitly noted as reviewed rather than silently omitted.
Risk tier definitions match the baseline exactly:
| Tier | Definition | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|
| Critical | Mistranslation alters or destroys essential doctrine | Human theologian, every occurrence |
| High | Mistranslation creates significant theological confusion or syncretism risk | Human theologian |
| Medium | Mistranslation reduces clarity but preserves essential meaning | Native speaker review |
| Low | Mistranslation causes minor misunderstanding or imprecision | Automated review |
Full Doctrine Matrix
| # | Doctrine | Supporting Passages (2 Corinthians) | Risk | Translation Risk Notes | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Reconciliation with God | 5:11-21 (core), 5:18-20 | Critical | मिलाप must convey God’s own initiative restoring an estranged relationship, received passively by humanity (“be reconciled,” 5:20) — not a mutual negotiated settlement between equals, and not a human-initiated resolution of cosmic karmic imbalance. | Human theologian |
| 2 | New Creation in Christ | 5:17 | Critical | नयाँ सृष्टि must be a decisive, one-time, in-Christ transformation, not one more turn of the Hindu srishti-sthiti-pralaya cosmic cycle or a temporary yuga within an endless cycle of ages. | Human theologian |
| 3 | Substitutionary Atonement | 5:14-15, 5:21 | Critical | Christ’s sin-bearing death is a specific forensic/legal transaction, not exemplary suffering or sympathetic identification; must not be confused with ritual scapegoat, jhar-phuk, or animal-sacrifice practices transferring ritual pollution rather than accomplishing a unique, historical, once-for-all legal reckoning. | Human theologian |
| 4 | The New Covenant versus the Old | 3:6-18 | Critical | नयाँ करार retains a relational covenant-bond sense (not a legal-replacement contract) and must not imply God’s Old Testament covenant faithfulness to Israel was arbitrary or void. | Human theologian |
| 5 | Deity of Christ and Counterfeit Gods | 4:4, 5:19, 11:14 | Critical | यस युगका देवता deliberately uses देवता (ordinary word for Hindu pantheon gods) for Satan’s counterfeit claim; NEVER परमेश्वर for this referent. ज्योतिको दूत must read as deceptive counterfeit light, never confused with Newar Tantric/Kumari divine-radiance associations already flagged around महिमा. | Human theologian |
| 6 | Resurrection of Christ | 4:14, 5:15 | Critical | पुनरुत्थान, never पुनर्जन्म; guards against Hindu rebirth, Buddhist karma-driven rebirth across six realms, and the Himalayan Buddhist tulku recognized-reincarnation tradition. | Human theologian |
| 7 | Incarnation and Christ’s Voluntary Poverty | 8:9 | Critical | Must reinforce the genuineness of Christ’s self-humbling incarnation (देहधारण); avoid any phrasing suggesting a temporary, illusory “poverty” patterned on a deity’s brief costume-like avatar descent — the same pattern already forbidden in the baseline given the Shah monarchy’s avatar theology practiced until 2008. | Human theologian |
| 8 | Lordship of Christ | 5:11, 10:17-18, 13:14 | Critical | प्रभु conveys exclusive, supreme Lordship; “fear of the Lord” (प्रभुको भय) is reverent covenant accountability, not the placating dread directed at capricious ancestral spirits (bhut-pret) in Nepali folk religion. | Human theologian |
| 9 | Spiritual Warfare and Satanic Deception | 2:11, 4:4, 6:15, 10:4, 11:14, 12:7 | Critical | शैतान is the singular, personal cosmic adversary of God, distinct from generic भूत-प्रेत or मसान (graveyard spirits) placated through jhankri/dhami ritual. हतियार/किल्ला imagery is conducted through prayer and God’s word, never ritual spirit-binding or exorcism technique. | Human theologian |
| 10 | Godly Grief and Repentance | 7:9-10 | Critical | पश्चाताप is an inward, Spirit-granted change of mind, never प्रायश्चित (Hindu ritual penance/expiation discharging ritual pollution or bad karma). The godly/worldly grief contrast is a difference of kind and destination, not a mourning-performance ritual. | Human theologian |
| 11 | Church as God’s Dwelling (Temple of the Living God) | 6:16, 8:1, 11:28 | Critical | NEVER मन्दिर or गुम्बा; believers corporately, not a physical structure, are God’s dwelling, consistent with established मण्डली convention and given मन्दिर’s strong Pashupatinath-style active-worship association. | Human theologian |
| 12 | Trinitarian Benediction | 13:14 | Critical | Fixed grace-love-fellowship formula naming all three Persons must be rendered with memorized-liturgical, verbatim consistency across all future materials, paralleling Romans 8:28 / 10:9-10; प्रेम must not collapse into भक्ति (upward devotional love to a deity). | Human theologian |
| 13 | Grace | 1:2, 4:15, 6:1, 8:1,9, 9:8, 12:9 | High | अनुग्रह, including the extended “grace of giving” sense (chs. 8-9), must remain God’s unmerited gift producing generosity, not human virtue or accumulated merit toward liberation — a direct challenge to shared Hindu/Buddhist karma-merit accounting. | Human theologian |
| 14 | Faith | 1:24, 4:13, 5:7, 13:5 | High | विश्वास as personal trust in Christ (“walk by faith, not by sight”), distinguished from generalized Hindu/Buddhist devotional reverence (श्रद्धा, भक्ति). | Human theologian |
| 15 | Sincerity and Apostolic Authority | 1:12, 2:17, 3:12, 5:16, 6:14, 11:3, 13:5-7 | High | Paul’s transparent, unmixed motive must be distinguished from the perception of gain- or reputation-motivated guru/spiritual-teacher figures; निर्भीकता carries live legal weight given the 2017 Muluki Criminal Code’s restrictions on open religious proclamation. | Human theologian |
| 16 | Genuine versus False Apostleship | 10:12-18, 11:4-15, 12:11-12 | High | झूटा प्रेरितहरू are impostors, not merely inferior genuine ministers — a live pastoral concern in a young Nepali church vulnerable to prosperity-driven or syncretistic teaching; signs/wonders authenticating genuine apostleship must be distinguished from tantric siddhi (yogic/tantric supernatural attainment) with particular Kathmandu Valley currency. | Human theologian |
| 17 | Power in Weakness | 12:9-10, 13:4, 13:9 | High | God’s सामर्थ्य perfected precisely through, not despite, human दुर्बलता directly subverts local honor-shame social expectations; never शक्ति; must not be softened into generic motivational resilience. | Human theologian |
| 18 | Suffering and Comfort in Ministry | 1:3-11, 2:14-16, 4:7-18, 5:10, 7:4-7 | High | कष्ट must never be दुःख (the Buddhist First Noble Truth’s claim that existence itself is inherently unsatisfactory); biblical affliction is temporary tribulation borne in hope of resurrection glory. सान्त्वना conveys God’s personal, relational comfort, not a meditative-equanimity technique. | Human theologian |
| 19 | Generosity and Grace in Giving | 8:1-15, 9:6-15 | High | Giving flows from अनुग्रह, not accumulated religious merit (पुण्य) shared by Hindu and Buddhist ethical frameworks; the economic समानता sought across churches cuts against caste-linked economic stratification still socially present in parts of Nepal. | Human theologian |
| 20 | Eschatological Judgment and Accountability | 5:10 | High | ख्रीष्टको न्यायआसन must be distinguished from the impersonal cosmic ledger of karma determining rebirth destiny; this is a personal, one-time appearing before Christ as Judge within an already-assured salvation. | Human theologian |
| 21 | Paradise and Heaven | 12:1-4 | High | स्वर्ग must be taught as the actual, eternal, personal presence of God entered by grace through Christ, not one of many temporary heavenly abodes (svarga-loka) attainable through merit, nor a Buddhist way-station toward eventual liberation from rebirth. | Human theologian |
| 22 | New Covenant Freedom and Transformation | 3:17-18 | High | स्वतन्त्रता, never मुक्ति (already forbidden by baseline for salvation) — an elevated risk since “freedom/liberation” is मुक्ति’s literal sense; रूपान्तरित हुनु must not be confused with अवतार-style divine shape-shifting or Hindu dashavatara narratives. | Human theologian |
| 23 | Sanctification and Holiness | 6:14-7:1, 7:1 | High | The Spirit’s ongoing work of making believers holy, distinct from Hindu ritual purification or Buddhist meditative self-purification through disciplined practice. | Human theologian |
| 24 | Church as God’s People and Fellowship | 1:1, 8:1, 11:28, 13:12-13 | Medium | सहभागिता carries real lived weight given Nepal’s young, historically restricted church; पवित्र अभिवादन renders “holy kiss” functionally since literal kissing-as-greeting is culturally unusual in Nepali social custom. | Native speaker review |
| 25 | Assurance via the Spirit as Guarantee | 1:22, 5:5 | Medium | बैना conveys certainty of a guaranteed future inheritance secured by God himself, not a repayable debt or transactional exchange resembling a karma-ledger. | Native speaker review |
| 26 | Thanksgiving | 1:11, 2:14, 4:15, 9:11-12 | Low | Standard term; minor risk of over-ritualization. | Automated review |
| 27 | Mutual Edification and Encouragement | 1:3-7, 7:4-13, 13:11 | Low | Building one another up through God’s own comfort; minor doctrinal risk beyond consistency with the distinct comfort-in-suffering sense. | Automated review |
Risk summary (matches doctrine_risk_registry.json exactly): Critical: 12 · High: 11 · Medium: 2 · Low: 2 · Total requiring theologian review: 23 · Total requiring native speaker review: 2 · Total automated only: 2.

Critical Risk Doctrines
Reconciliation with God
Nepali name: परमेश्वरसँगको मिलाप
Key terms: reconciliation, world_kosmos, trespasses, ambassador, died_for_all
Review routing: Human theologian
मिलाप must convey God’s own initiative in restoring an estranged relationship, received passively by humanity (‘be reconciled,’ 5:20), not a mutual negotiated settlement between equals, and not a human-initiated resolution of cosmic karmic imbalance as in Hindu/Buddhist frameworks where the individual, not a personal God, resolves cosmic debt.
New Creation in Christ
Nepali name: ख्रीष्टमा नयाँ सृष्टि
Key terms: new_creation
Review routing: Human theologian
सृष्टि is the standard word for Hindu cosmology’s periodic Brahma-creation within the endless srishti-sthiti-pralaya cycle. Must be taught as a decisive, one-time, in-Christ transformation, not one more turn of a cosmic wheel or a temporary world-age (yuga) within an endless cycle of ages.
Substitutionary Atonement
Nepali name: ख्रीष्टको प्रतिस्थापनात्मक मृत्यु
Key terms: died_for_all, made_to_be_sin, imputed_righteousness
Review routing: Human theologian
Christ’s death and sin-bearing must be rendered as a specific forensic/legal transaction, not softened into merely exemplary suffering or sympathetic identification with sinners’ plight; must not be confused with ritual scapegoat, jhar-phuk, or animal-sacrifice practices in Nepali folk religion that transfer ritual pollution rather than accomplish a unique, historical, once-for-all legal reckoning.
The New Covenant versus the Old
Nepali name: पुरानो र नयाँ करार
Key terms: new_covenant, letter_and_spirit, veil, glory
Review routing: Human theologian
नयाँ करार must retain relational covenant-bond sense, not reduce to a legal-replacement contract, and must not imply God’s prior Old Testament covenant faithfulness to Israel was arbitrary or void, paralleling the baseline’s unity_of_jews_and_gentiles sensitivity.
Deity of Christ and Counterfeit Gods
Nepali name: ख्रीष्टको ईश्वरत्व र झूटा देवताहरू
Key terms: god_of_this_age, angel_of_light, god, deity_of_christ
Review routing: Human theologian
यस युगका देवता deliberately uses देवता (the ordinary word for the many gods of the Hindu pantheon) for Satan’s counterfeit claim and must never use परमेश्वर, reserved exclusively for the one true God; ज्योतिको दूत must be clearly understood as deceptive counterfeit light, never confused with the Newar Tantric/Kumari living-goddess divine-radiance associations already flagged around महिमा.
Resurrection of Christ
Nepali name: ख्रीष्टको पुनरुत्थान
Key terms: resurrection
Review routing: Human theologian
पुनरुत्थान, never पुनर्जन्म; guards against both Hindu rebirth and Buddhist karma-driven rebirth-across-six-realms frameworks, and against the Himalayan Buddhist tulku recognized-reincarnation tradition.
Incarnation and Christ’s Voluntary Poverty
Nepali name: देहधारण र ख्रीष्टको स्वेच्छाले गरीब हुनु
Key terms: christs_voluntary_poverty
Review routing: Human theologian
Must reinforce the genuineness of Christ’s self-humbling incarnation (देहधारण), avoiding any phrasing suggesting a temporary, illusory ‘poverty’ in the pattern of a deity’s brief costume-like avatar descent, the very pattern already forbidden in the baseline given the Shah monarchy’s avatar theology practiced until 2008.
Lordship of Christ
Nepali name: ख्रीष्टको प्रभुत्व
Key terms: lord, fear_of_the_lord
Review routing: Human theologian
प्रभु must convey exclusive, supreme Lordship, consistent with the baseline; ‘fear of the Lord’ (प्रभुको भय) must convey reverent, covenant accountability, not the placating dread used toward capricious ancestral spirits (bhut-pret) in Nepali folk religion.
Spiritual Warfare and Satanic Deception
Nepali name: आत्मिक युद्ध र शैतानको छलकपट
Key terms: satan, belial, angel_of_light, weapons_strongholds, god_of_this_age
Review routing: Human theologian
शैतान is the singular, personal cosmic adversary of God, distinct from generic भूत-प्रेत (ancestral/local spirits) or मसान (graveyard spirits) placated through jhankri/dhami shamanic ritual; the weapons/strongholds imagery (हतियार/किल्ला) must be conducted through prayer and the word of God, never confused with ritual spirit-binding or exorcism technique.
Godly Grief and Repentance
Nepali name: परमेश्वर-अनुसारको शोक र पश्चाताप
Key terms: repentance, godly_grief_worldly_grief
Review routing: Human theologian
पश्चाताप is an inward, Spirit-granted change of mind, never प्रायश्चित (Hindu ritual penance/expiation to discharge ritual pollution or bad karma through self-performed acts); the godly/worldly grief contrast is a difference of kind and destination, not a ritual mourning performance.
Church as God’s Dwelling (Temple of the Living God)
Nepali name: परमेश्वरको बासस्थानको रूपमा मण्डली
Key terms: temple_of_the_living_god, church
Review routing: Human theologian
NEVER मन्दिर or गुम्बा; believers corporately, not a physical structure, are God’s dwelling place, consistent with the baseline’s established मण्डली convention and given मन्दिर’s strong association with active Hindu temple worship such as Pashupatinath.
Trinitarian Benediction
Nepali name: त्रिएक आशिष्
Key terms: trinitarian_benediction, love_agape, fellowship, holy_spirit, grace
Review routing: Human theologian
This fixed grace-love-fellowship formula naming all three Persons must be rendered with memorized-liturgical consistency across all future curriculum materials, paralleling the baseline’s mandated verbatim consistency for Romans 8:28 and 10:9-10; प्रेम must not collapse into भक्ति (devotional love offered upward to a deity).
High Risk Doctrines
Grace
Nepali name: अनुग्रह
Key terms: grace
Review routing: Human theologian
Even the extended ‘grace of giving’ sense (chs. 8-9) must mean God’s unmerited gift producing generosity, not human virtue or merit accumulated toward liberation, directly contradicting the karma-merit accounting shared by Nepali Hindu and Buddhist ethical frameworks.
Faith
Nepali name: विश्वास
Key terms: faith
Review routing: Human theologian
Personal trust in Christ, ‘walking by faith not by sight,’ distinguished from generalized Hindu/Buddhist devotional reverence (श्रद्धा, भक्ति).
Sincerity and Apostolic Authority
Nepali name: निष्कपटता र प्रेरितीय अधिकार
Key terms: sincerity, boldness_openness, flesh, self_examination, unequal_yoke
Review routing: Human theologian
Paul’s transparent, unmixed motive must be distinguished from the perception, fair or not, of local guru/spiritual-teacher figures motivated by gain or reputation; निर्भीकता also carries live legal weight given the 2017 Muluki Criminal Code’s restrictions on open religious proclamation.
Genuine versus False Apostleship
Nepali name: साँचो र झूटा प्रेरितत्व
Key terms: false_apostles, super_apostles, deceitful_workers, boasting, signs_wonders_mighty_works
Review routing: Human theologian
झूटा प्रेरितहरू are impostors, not merely inferior genuine ministers — a live pastoral concern in discerning authentic gospel teaching from prosperity-driven or syncretistic teaching in a young Nepali church; the signs/wonders authenticating genuine apostleship must be distinguished from tantric siddhi (supernatural attainments through yogic/tantric practice) with particular currency in the Kathmandu Valley.
Power in Weakness
Nepali name: दुर्बलतामा सामर्थ्य
Key terms: power_of_god, weakness, boasting
Review routing: Human theologian
God’s सामर्थ्य perfected precisely through, not despite, human दुर्बलता directly subverts local honor-shame social expectations (where weakness signals loss of face); never शक्ति (per baseline); must not be softened into a generic motivational resilience platitude.
Suffering and Comfort in Ministry
Nepali name: सेवकाईमा कष्ट र सान्त्वना
Key terms: affliction_suffering, comfort_consolation, fragrance_of_christ, triumphal_procession, judgment_seat_of_christ
Review routing: Human theologian
कष्ट must never be दुःख, the term for the Buddhist First Noble Truth (dukkha), the claim that existence itself is inherently unsatisfactory to be escaped through the Eightfold Path; biblical affliction is temporary tribulation borne in hope of resurrection glory. सान्त्वना must convey God’s personal, relational comfort, not a meditative-equanimity technique.
Generosity and Grace in Giving
Nepali name: दानमा उदारता र अनुग्रह
Key terms: generosity, equality_economic, cheerful_giver, sufficiency_contentment, christs_voluntary_poverty
Review routing: Human theologian
Giving flows from अनुग्रह, God’s unmerited gift, not accumulated religious merit (पुण्य) shared by Hindu and Buddhist ethical frameworks; the economic समानता sought across churches cuts against caste-linked economic stratification still socially present in parts of Nepal.
Eschatological Judgment and Accountability
Nepali name: अन्तिम न्याय र उत्तरदायित्व
Key terms: judgment_seat_of_christ
Review routing: Human theologian
Must be distinguished from the impersonal cosmic ledger of karma determining rebirth destiny across lifetimes; this is a personal, one-time appearing before Christ as Judge within an already-assured salvation, not a karmic weighing determining a future incarnation.
Paradise and Heaven
Nepali name: स्वर्ग र स्वर्गीय अनुभव
Key terms: paradise_third_heaven
Review routing: Human theologian
स्वर्ग must be taught as the actual, eternal, personal presence of God entered by grace through Christ, not one of many temporary heavenly abodes (svarga-loka) attainable through accumulated merit in Hindu cosmology, nor a Buddhist way-station toward eventual liberation from rebirth.
New Covenant Freedom and Transformation
Nepali name: नयाँ करारको स्वतन्त्रता र रूपान्तरण
Key terms: freedom, transformed, image
Review routing: Human theologian
स्वतन्त्रता, never मुक्ति (already forbidden by baseline for salvation, Hindu liberation from the rebirth cycle) — an elevated risk since ‘freedom/liberation’ is मुक्ति’s literal sense; रूपान्तरित हुनु must not be confused with अवतार-style divine shape-shifting or the Hindu dashavatara narratives.
Sanctification and Holiness
Nepali name: पवित्रीकरण र पवित्रता
Key terms: holy, sanctification, holiness_abstract
Review routing: Human theologian
The Spirit’s ongoing work of making believers holy, distinct from Hindu ritual purification or Buddhist meditative self-purification through disciplined practice.
Medium Risk Doctrines
Church as God’s People and Fellowship
Nepali name: परमेश्वरका जनको सहभागिता
Key terms: church, fellowship, saints, holy_kiss
Review routing: Native speaker review
सहभागिता carries real lived weight given Nepal’s young, historically restricted church; पवित्र अभिवादन renders the ‘holy kiss’ functionally since physical kissing as greeting is culturally unusual/sensitive in Nepali social custom.
Assurance via the Spirit as Guarantee
Nepali name: पवित्र आत्माद्वारा निश्चयताको बैना
Key terms: earnest_guarantee, sealed_by_spirit
Review routing: Native speaker review
बैना must convey certainty of a guaranteed future inheritance secured by God himself, not a repayable debt or transactional exchange resembling a karma-ledger.
Low Risk Doctrines
Thanksgiving
Nepali name: धन्यवाद
Key terms: thanksgiving
Review routing: Automated review
Standard term; minor risk of over-ritualization.
Mutual Edification and Encouragement
Nepali name: आपसी उत्साह र सान्त्वना
Key terms: exhort, comfort_consolation
Review routing: Automated review
Building one another up in faith through God’s own comfort; minor doctrinal risk beyond consistency with the distinct comfort-in-suffering sense.
