Doctrine Analysis

Doctrine Analysis — Revelation | English → Nepali

Purpose

This document executes PRD Phase 1 Steps 4–5: a full doctrine matrix spanning every chapter of Revelation (1–22), and a chapter-by-chapter doctrine coverage map demonstrating full-book review. Revelation 21:1–8 (The New Heaven and New Earth) is the curriculum’s theological anchor, but per the FULL-BOOK COVERAGE mandate this analysis treats it as one entry among many, not the boundary of scope. This document is fully consistent with assets/doctrine_risk_registry.json (version 1, 2026-07-09): identical doctrine keys, identical risk tiers, identical review routing. It does not introduce, rename, or re-tier any doctrine found there.

Part A — Chapter-by-Chapter Doctrine Coverage (Revelation 1–22)

Every chapter is explicitly accounted for below. Where a chapter’s content is substantially a reiteration of doctrine already logged for an earlier chapter (e.g., the repeating “letter to the churches” pattern), this is stated explicitly rather than silently omitted.

Ch.Passage HighlightsDoctrines Engaged (risk tier)Coverage Notes
1Prologue; greeting from “who is, who was, who is to come”; Alpha/Omega; John’s vision of the risen Christ; “kingdom and priests”Deity and Supremacy of God (Critical); Sovereignty of God over History (High); Lordship and Return of Christ (Critical); Inspiration and Closure of Scripture (High); Perseverance and Faithful Witness (High, 1:9 “tribulation”); Martyrdom and Costly Testimony (High, 1:9); Priesthood and Unity of Believers (Medium, 1:6); Resurrection Hope (Critical, background, 1:5 “firstborn of the dead”)Sets almost every Critical-tier doctrine in play in the book’s first eight verses; anchors the “Almighty”/सर्वसामर्थी deviation immediately.
2Letters to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira; “Son of God” (2:18); overcomer promisesPerseverance and Faithful Witness (High); Faith and Faithfulness of God’s Words (High, 2:13,19); Sonship of Christ (Critical, 2:18); Second Death and Final Judgment (Critical, 2:11); Salvation and Assurance / overcomer language (Critical, 2:7,11,17,26)First occurrence of νικάω (“overcome”) pattern repeated through 3:21 and 21:7; establishes the overcomer-reward structure.
3Letters to Sardis, Philadelphia, Laodicea; “sit with me on my throne” (3:21); book of life (3:5)Perseverance and Faithful Witness (High, reiterated); Salvation and Assurance (Critical, overcomer language reiterated); Sovereignty of God over History (High, 3:21 throne); Second Death and Final Judgment (Critical, book of life background)Reviewed in full: no new doctrine introduced beyond Ch. 2’s pattern; throne/book-of-life motifs anticipate Ch. 4–5 and Ch. 20–21.
4Throne-room vision; four living creatures; “Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty”Sovereignty of God over History (High); Deity and Supremacy of God (Critical, 4:8); Worship of the Lamb / throne worship (Critical, 4:10-11); Thanksgiving and Doxology (Low); Priesthood and Unity of Believers (Medium, 24 elders)First sustained throne-room scene; establishes सिंहासन’s exclusive divine referent for the rest of the book.
5The sealed scroll; the Lamb who is worthy; universal doxologyWorship of the Lamb (Critical); Deity and Supremacy of God (Critical, 5:13 doxology); Unity of Nations before the Lamb (Medium, 5:9); Sovereignty of God over History (High)Introduces थुमा (Lamb) as the central worship-object of the book; establishes worthy-to-open-the-scroll motif.
< /tr>
6Four horsemen; martyrs under the altar; “wrath of the Lamb”Divine Wrath and Judgment (Critical, 6:16-17); Martyrdom and Costly Testimony (High, 6:9-11); Symbolic and Apocalyptic Interpretation (Medium, seal-imagery)First appearance of “wrath of the Lamb” — a deliberate paradox (Lamb + wrath) that must not be flattened.
7144,000 sealed; great multitude from every nation; “salvation belongs to our God”Symbolic and Apocalyptic Interpretation (Medium, 7:4-8); Unity of Nations before the Lamb (Medium, 7:9); Salvation and Assurance (Critical, 7:10); Providence and Restraint of Evil (High, 7:1-3 sealing precedes judgment)Establishes 144,000 as symbolic completeness, not census; must not be over-literalized in Phase 2 teaching notes.
8Seven trumpets begin; prayers of the saints with incense; cosmic judgmentsDivine Wrath and Judgment (Critical); Symbolic and Apocalyptic Interpretation (Medium)Prayers-of-the-saints imagery (8:3-4) draws on baseline Romans “intercession” doctrine; reviewed, no new Critical/High term beyond wrath/judgment already logged.
9Fifth and sixth trumpets; locusts from the abyss; demonic armyProvidence and Restraint of Evil (High, 9:1-11 abyss, limited release); Divine Wrath and Judgment (Critical); Symbolic and Apocalyptic Interpretation (Medium)Establishes अगाध खाल्डो (abyss) as a distinct apocalyptic location from both लेक ऑफ फायर and पाताल — a distinction that must be lexically maintained through Ch. 20.
10Angel with the little scroll; “the mystery of God … will be fulfilled”Mystery of God Openly Revealed (High, 10:7); Inspiration and Closure of Scripture (High, 10:8-11 prophetic commissioning)First direct use of μυστήριον after 1:20; establishes the openly-disclosed sense that must resist the Tantric/Vajrayāna esoteric-initiation frame.
11Two witnesses killed and raised; seventh trumpet; “the kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord”Martyrdom and Costly Testimony (High, 11:3-7); Kingdom of God Consummated (High, 11:15); Divine Wrath and Judgment (Critical, 11:18); Symbolic and Apocalyptic Interpretation (Medium, temple-measuring, two witnesses)11:15 is a climactic kingdom-announcement verse; must not read as a merely political/dynastic succession echoing Nepal’s former monarchy.
12Woman, dragon, and child; Michael defeats the dragon; “they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb”Satan and Cosmic Conflict (High); Salvation and Assurance (Critical, 12:10-11); Martyrdom and Costly Testimony (High, 12:11)First full appearance of the dragon/ancient-serpent figure; establishes explicit defeated-evil framing to be reinforced at every later occurrence.
13The beast from the sea and the beast from the earth; mark of the beast; 666False Worship and Idolatry (Critical, 13:4,8,12,15); Satan and Cosmic Conflict (High); Symbolic and Apocalyptic Interpretation (Medium, 13:18)Introduces the beast/false-worship complex that culminates in Ch. 19-20; छाप (mark) vs. मुद्रा (seal) lexical distinction becomes load-bearing from this chapter forward.
14144,000 with the Lamb; the everlasting gospel; harvest and winepress of wrathUnity of Nations / Worship of the Lamb (Critical, 14:1-5); Grace versus Merit — “everlasting gospel” (High, 14:6); Divine Wrath and Judgment (Critical, 14:9-11,19-20); Perseverance and Faithful Witness (High, 14:12)14:12 pairs perseverance directly with “those who keep the commandments of God and their faith in Jesus” — must preserve faith/obedience-flowing-from-faith balance per baseline obedience_of_faith doctrine.
15Song of Moses and of the Lamb; seven angels with seven bowls; the tabernacle of testimony openedWorship of the Lamb (Critical); Deity and Supremacy of God (Critical, 15:3); Divine Wrath and Judgment (Critical); Unmediated Presence of God (High, 15:5 tabernacle)First use of σκηνή/tabernacle imagery ahead of its climactic recurrence at 21:3; must never render with मन्दिर or गुम्बा.
16Seven bowls of wrath poured out; ArmageddonDivine Wrath and Judgment (Critical); Symbolic and Apocalyptic Interpretation (Medium, 16:16 Armageddon)Armageddon treated as symbolic staging-ground per apocalyptic-genre convention, consistent with registry note.
17The great harlot and the beast; “Babylon the great”; “this calls for a mind with wisdom… this is a mystery”Babylon and Idolatrous Systems (Medium); Mystery of God Openly Revealed (High, 17:5,7 — note the ironic/negative use of μυστήριον applied to Babylon); Lordship and Return of Christ (Critical, 17:14 “Lord of lords and King of kings”)17:5,7 is the book’s one negative/ironic use of “mystery,” applied to Babylon’s name — must be handled so as not to blur with the positive theological sense used elsewhere.
18Fall of Babylon; lament of kings and merchants; sorcery and idolatry namedBabylon and Idolatrous Systems (Medium, 18:23 sorcery); Divine Wrath and Judgment (Critical)Reviewed for pastoral framing risk: must be taught as symbolic anti-God system, not a specific modern nation or ethnographic target.
19Marriage supper of the Lamb; “Faithful and True”; the rider on the white horse; “King of Kings and Lord of Lords”; angel refuses worshipWorship of the Lamb (Critical); Church as Bride of Christ (High, 19:7-9); False Worship and Idolatry (Critical, 19:10); Lordship and Return of Christ (Critical, 19:11-16); Faith and Faithfulness of God’s Words (High, 19:11); Divine Wrath and Judgment (Critical, 19:15,19-20)Single densest chapter in the book for Critical-tier doctrine; five of eleven Critical doctrines converge here.
20The millennium; Satan bound then released; the first resurrection; the great white throne; the lake of fireMillennial Reign of Christ (Medium); Resurrection Hope (Critical, 20:4-6); Providence and Restraint of Evil (High, 20:1-3,7); Second Death and Final Judgment (Critical, 20:6,10,12-15); Satan and Cosmic Conflict (High)Requires strict neutrality on millennial interpretive scheme in the base translated text itself; interpretive stance belongs to commentary, not translation.
21CORE PASSAGE — new heaven and new earth; the holy city, the bride; “he will be my son”; the second death; no temple (21:22)New Creation (Critical, 21:1,5); Church as Bride of Christ (High, 21:2,9); Sonship of Christ / derivative sonship of believers (Critical, 21:7, requires distinct rendering from Christ’s unique Sonship); Second Death and Final Judgment (Critical, 21:8); Unmediated Presence of God (High, 21:3,22); Grace versus Merit (High, 21:6 “without cost”); Unity of Nations before the Lamb (Medium, 21:24,26); Deity and Supremacy of God (Critical, 21:6 Alpha/Omega)Highest doctrinal density per verse in the book; every Critical-tier doctrine but Worship of the Lamb, Resurrection, and Lordship/Return appears within these eight verses.
22River and tree of life; no more curse; “they will see his face”; “I am coming soon”; John forbidden to worship the angel; closing warning against altering the prophecyUnmediated Presence of God / New Creation (High/Critical, 22:1-5); Grace versus Merit (High, 22:17); Inspiration and Closure of Scripture (High, 22:18-19); Lordship and Return of Christ (Critical, 22:7,12,20); False Worship and Idolatry (Critical, 22:8-9); Second Death and Final Judgment (Critical, 22:15); Thanksgiving and Doxology (Low, 22:21)Closing chapter mirrors and resolves Ch. 1’s opening doctrinal set (Lordship, inspiration, worship boundary), forming the book’s doctrinal frame.

Part B — Consolidated Doctrine Matrix (Full Book, All 28 Doctrines)

This matrix is doctrine-first (rather than chapter-first) and is the authoritative cross-reference for Phase 2 review routing. It reproduces every doctrine key, Nepali doctrine name, and risk tier exactly as recorded in doctrine_risk_registry.json.

Critical Risk Doctrines

Deity and Supremacy of God (Almighty, Alpha and Omega)

Nepali name: परमेश्वरको ईश्वरत्व र सर्वोच्चता
Key terms: almighty, alpha and omega, who is was and is to come
Review routing: Human theologian

CRITICAL: the common Nepali rendering सर्वशक्तिमान् shares its root with शक्ति, already forbidden in the baseline power_of_god entry due to the still-practiced Newar Tantric Shakti/Kumari cult of the Kathmandu Valley. सर्वसामर्थी must be used instead, requiring a deliberate deviation from general usage with mandatory theologian sign-off.

Return and Reign of Christ / Lordship of Christ

Nepali name: ख्रीष्टको फिर्ता आगमन र राज्य
Key terms: king of kings and lord of lords, coming soon, lord, throne, reign forever
Review routing: Human theologian

CRITICAL: ‘King of kings and Lord of lords’ must be rendered and taught with zero softening, given Nepal’s own history of a divinely legitimated monarchy (Shah-dynasty kings venerated as living avatars of Vishnu until 2008). Christ is not merely a great king among legitimate others, historical or symbolic, but the singular, supreme sovereign over all.

Sonship of Christ

Nepali name: ख्रीष्टको पुत्रत्व
Key terms: son of God, word of God
Review routing: Human theologian

CRITICAL: ‘Son of God’ (परमेश्वरका पुत्र) must never be applied in this exact form to believers’ derivative sonship (21:7, where a distinct रendering ‘पुत्र’ is required), and must remain distinct from the Tibetan Buddhist tulku recognized-reincarnation tradition present among Nepal’s Himalayan communities.

Worship of the Lamb

Nepali name: थुमाको आराधना
Key terms: lamb, worship, worthy, blood of the lamb
Review routing: Human theologian

CRITICAL: थुमा must never be conflated with Nepal’s living paśu-bali (animal sacrifice) tradition at shrines such as Dakshinkali and the Gadhimai festival. आराधना गर्नु, NEVER पूजा, must render προσκυνέω consistently so the ritual-offering category the book itself contests is not imported into the translation.

False Worship and Idolatry

Nepali name: झूटो आराधना र मूर्तिपूजा
Key terms: worship of angel forbidden, beast, mark of the beast, idolater, sorcerer
Review routing: Human theologian

CRITICAL: the angel’s refusal of worship (‘Worship God!’, 19:10; 22:8-9) is the text’s own explicit boundary between legitimate worship of God/the Lamb alone and illegitimate worship of any created being, a boundary of first importance given the veneration of gurus, saints, and living deity-figures such as the Kumari within Nepal’s dominant religious traditions.

Resurrection Hope (Bodily, Once-for-All)

Nepali name: पुनरुत्थानको आशा
Key terms: resurrection, first resurrection
Review routing: Human theologian

CRITICAL: पुनरुत्थान, NEVER पुनर्जन्म. Must not be misread as one cycle within Hindu rebirth or Buddhist rebirth-across-six-realms doctrine, nor conflated with the Himalayan Buddhist tulku recognized-reincarnation tradition; it is a definite, bodily, historical, non-repeating event.

Salvation and Assurance of God’s Final Victory over Evil

Nepali name: उद्धार र परमेश्वरको अन्तिम विजयको निश्चयता
Key terms: salvation, overcome, dragon, satan and devil
Review routing: Human theologian

CRITICAL, DUAL-FRONT: उद्धार, NEVER मुक्ति/मोक्ष (Hindu liberation from a rebirth cycle) or निर्वाण (Buddhist cessation of craving/self). Final victory is deliverance by a personal, triumphant God through Christ over a personal, defeated enemy, not liberation from an impersonal cycle or the extinguishing of self.

The New Heaven and New Earth

Nepali name: नयाँ आकाश र नयाँ पृथ्वी
Key terms: new heaven and new earth, no temple, tabernacle dwell, water and tree of life
Review routing: Human theologian

CRITICAL: must not be assimilated to Hindu cyclical cosmology (kalpa, sṛṣṭि-pralaya, the repeated creation-and-dissolution of the universe presided over by Brahmā). This is a final, linear, one-time consummation. The ‘no temple’ declaration (21:22) further confronts Nepal’s temple-saturated religious landscape (Pashupatinath, Boudhanath) by locating God’s presence directly among his people rather than in a shrine.

Judgment of the Wicked

Nepali name: दुष्टहरूको न्याय
Key terms: wrath, judgment, beast, babylon the great
Review routing: Human theologian

CRITICAL: God’s wrath must not be assimilated to Nepal’s Tantric wrathful deity-forms (Bhairab, Kālī), venerated as one alternating aspect of an otherwise benevolent deity, nor to impersonal karmic retribution. This is the one personal God’s righteous, judicial, and morally consistent response to sin.

Second Death and Vindication of the Saints

Nepali name: दोस्रो मृत्यु र पवित्र जनको प्रतिष्ठा
Key terms: second death and lake of fire, book of life, judged according to works
Review routing: Human theologian

CRITICAL: दोस्रो मृत्यु / आगोको कुण्ड must be taught as a final, irreversible destiny, distinguished from Hindu/Buddhist नरक (naraka), a temporary purgatorial stage within an ongoing rebirth cycle in both traditions. This is the negative pole of the baseline’s Critical, dual-front salvation distinction.

High Risk Doctrines

Sovereignty of God over History

Nepali name: इतिहासमाथि परमेश्वरको सार्वभौमिकता
Key terms: throne, who is was and is to come, kingdom of God, abyss (restraint of evil), providence
Review routing: Human theologian

सिंहासन carries the historical weight of Nepal’s Shah-dynasty royal throne, occupied by kings venerated as living avatars of Vishnu until the monarchy’s 2008 abolition, and the ‘who is, was, and is to come’ formula must be taught as linear sovereignty over history, not one phase of Hindu cyclical cosmology (kalpa, sṛṣṭi-pralaya). Every throne-room reference must be anchored unambiguously to God’s/the Lamb’s unique authority.

Grace (Freely Given, Not Earned)

Nepali name: अनुग्रह (सित्तैमा दिइएको, कमाइएको होइन)
Key terms: grace, free gift, water and tree of life, everlasting gospel
Review routing: Human theologian

The gift of the water/tree of life (सित्तैमा) must be explicitly tied to अनुग्रह so the contrast against Hindu/Buddhist karma-merit accounting is preserved; without this link सित्तैमा alone risks reading as merely commercial ‘free of charge,’ losing the merit-free doctrinal force at the book’s climax.

Faith and the Faithfulness of God’s Words

Nepali name: विश्वास र परमेश्वरको वचनको विश्वासनीयता
Key terms: faith, faithful and true
Review routing: Human theologian

विश्वास conveys personal trust in Christ, distinguished from श्रद्धा/भक्ति (Hindu/Buddhist devotional reverence). विश्वासनीय र सत्य (πιστός/ἀληθινός) functions polemically against every counterfeit religious or political claim in the book and must not be flattened to mere factual accuracy.

Perseverance and Faithful Witness under Persecution

Nepali name: सतावटमा दृढता र विश्वासयोग्य साक्षी
Key terms: tribulation, patient endurance, overcome, testimony
Review routing: Human theologian

क्लेश must not collapse into the Buddhist दुःख (dukkha) of the First Noble Truth, a claim about the inherent nature of all existence; biblical tribulation is specific, time-bound suffering with a guaranteed end. सहनशीलता must convey active, hope-filled endurance, not fatalistic acceptance shaped by karma-driven resignation.

Martyrdom and Costly Testimony

Nepali name: सहीदपन र मूल्यवान् साक्षी
Key terms: testimony, blood of the lamb
Review routing: Human theologian

गवाही / साक्षी carries real, current-not-merely-historical weight for a Nepali audience given the church’s illegal/underground history until the 1990 democracy movement and the live legal restriction on religious conversion under the 2017 Muluki Criminal Code.

Satan and Cosmic Conflict

Nepali name: शैतान र ब्रह्माण्डीय द्वन्द्व
Key terms: satan and devil, dragon, accuser, beast
Review routing: Human theologian

अजिङ्गर / प्राचीन सर्प must be repeatedly and explicitly identified as evil and defeated, guarding against Nepal’s Hindu-Buddhist folk veneration of largely benevolent nāga (सर्प/नाग) guardian spirits, honored at Nāg Pañchamī with common shrines throughout the Kathmandu Valley.

Providence: God’s Restraint and Timing of Evil

Nepali name: परमेश्वरको व्यवस्थापन: दुष्टतामाथि नियन्त्रण र समय
Key terms: abyss, seal of god, millennium
Review routing: Human theologian

Satan and demonic powers act only within limits God sovereignly sets (bound in the अगाध खाल्डो), never as independent, co-equal powers — this must not be rendered so as to suggest भाग्य (fate) or an impersonal law of karma governing the timing of evil’s restraint and release.

Unmediated Presence of God (No Temple, Tabernacling)

Nepali name: परमेश्वरको अबाधित उपस्थिति
Key terms: no temple, tabernacle dwell, priests of believers
Review routing: Human theologian

The declaration ‘I saw no temple’ (21:22) and ‘he will dwell with them’ (21:3) directly reverse Nepal’s temple-centered religious geography (Pashupatinath, Boudhanath) and its caste-linked Brahmin priesthood; must be taught as direct, unmediated, non-hierarchical access to God for every believer, not a devaluation of corporate मण्डली worship.

The Church as Bride of Christ

Nepali name: ख्रीष्टकी दुलहीको रूपमा मण्डली
Key terms: bride and marriage of the lamb, righteous acts of the saints
Review routing: Human theologian

दुलही carries strong cultural weight from Nepali marriage customs (family-negotiated unions, dowry expectations, in-law hierarchy); must be taught as Christ’s own covenantal initiative and costly purchase of a corporate, redeemed people, not a socially negotiated or transactional arrangement.

Inspiration and Closure of Scripture

Nepali name: पवित्रशास्त्रको प्रेरणा र पूर्णता
Key terms: prophecy, apocalypse
Review routing: Human theologian

Must protect the completed, authoritative, God-breathed nature of this specific, closed text, not be read as a general warning against all religious commentary or interpretation as such; distinct from Hindu shruti (heard-by-sages revelation) and Buddhist sutra tradition.

Mystery of God Openly Revealed

Nepali name: परमेश्वरको रहस्य खुलेर प्रकट भएको
Key terms: mystery
Review routing: Human theologian

रहस्य risks importing the Kathmandu Valley Tantric Hindu and Himalayan Vajrayāna Buddhist esoteric initiatory-secret frame, restricted to initiated practitioners under a guru. Biblical μυστήριον is structurally the opposite: openly disclosed to all believers, with no hierarchy of privileged spiritual access.

Kingdom Mission Consummated

Nepali name: परमेश्वरको राज्यको पूर्णता
Key terms: kingdom of God
Review routing: Human theologian

Raised above the baseline’s Medium risk for Romans given Revelation’s climactic, decisive-victory framing (‘the kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord’); must not read as a merely political or dynastic transition of power echoing Nepal’s own former monarchy.

Medium Risk Doctrines

Priesthood and Unity of Believers

Nepali name: विश्वासीहरूको पुजारीपन र एकता
Key terms: priests of believers, elders, gentiles
Review routing: Native speaker review

पुजारी must be reframed from its ordinary sense as a Hindu temple priest/Brahmin caste role into every believer’s direct, non-hierarchical priestly access to God — notable given caste-linked priestly hierarchy still felt in parts of Nepali society.

Symbolic and Apocalyptic Interpretation

Nepali name: प्रतीकात्मक र अपोकेलिप्टिक व्याख्या
Key terms: 144,000, number 666, armageddon, millennium
Review routing: Native speaker review

Symbolic numbers and place-names (144,000; 666; Armageddon) must be taught with a consistent caution against over-literalizing, so readers do not treat apocalyptic-genre symbols as census figures, cryptographic codes, or single literal geographic sites in isolation from the book’s visionary character.

Millennial Reign of Christ

Nepali name: ख्रीष्टको हजार-वर्षीय राज्य
Key terms: millennium, resurrection
Review routing: Native speaker review

The base translation should preserve the literal ‘thousand years’ numeral without embedding any single millennial interpretive scheme (premillennial, amillennial, postmillennial); interpretive stance belongs to teaching commentary, not the translated text itself.

Babylon and Idolatrous Systems

Nepali name: बेबिलोन र मूर्तिपूजक व्यवस्थाहरू
Key terms: babylon the great, harlot, sorcerer and idolater
Review routing: Native speaker review

Must be taught as symbolic of any anti-God political-religious-economic system, not restricted to the ancient city, not pointed at any specific modern nation, and framed pastorally so as not to appear to target individual women (the harlot image) or condemn Nepali cultural practice as an ethnographic category.

Unity of Jews and Gentiles / Nations before the Lamb

Nepali name: थुमाको सामु यहूदी र अन्यजातिहरूको एकता
Key terms: gentiles, israel, 144,000
Review routing: Native speaker review

Consummates the baseline’s Unity of Jews and Gentiles doctrine into its final form: every tribe, language, people, and nation worshiping together, directly challenging any residual caste-based spiritual hierarchy given Nepal’s own history of the legally codified Muluki Ain caste code.

Low Risk Doctrines

Thanksgiving and Doxology

Nepali name: धन्यवाद र स्तुति
Key terms: thanksgiving, amen, hallelujah, worthy
Review routing: Automated review

Standard liturgical vocabulary already established in Nepali Christian usage; minor risk of over-ritualization only.
