Cross-Reference Analysis

Cross-Reference and Theme Analysis — 2 Thessalonians

Purpose and Method

This document traces every identifiable Old Testament quotation and allusion, every messianic reference, every typological pattern, and every parallel to the Romans curriculum (already localized into Nepali in the baseline Language Package) across all three chapters of 2 Thessalonians. Its purpose is to ensure that (a) no OT background is silently lost in translation, (b) shared vocabulary between 2 Thessalonians and Romans is rendered identically in Nepali, and (c) every load-bearing cross-reference is flagged with its specific translation sensitivity so Phase 2 segment translation and Phase 2 review routing can apply the correct risk tier.

Full-book coverage: every chapter (1, 2, 3) is represented below, including chapters and verses that carry no new doctrinal risk (explicitly marked “reviewed, no new cross-reference risk” where applicable).

Section A — Chapter 1 Cross-Reference Matrix

PassageThemeRelated Character/FigureOT/NT ConnectionTranslation Sensitivity
2 Thessalonians 1:1-2Epistolary greeting: grace and peacePaul, Silvanus, Timothy; God the Father; the Lord Jesus ChristNT parallel: Romans 1:7 (nearly identical greeting formula: “Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ”)Must render अनुग्रह and शान्ति identically to the established Romans 1:7 rendering; verbatim cross-document consistency required per the baseline’s “Theological Consistency Rules Across Documents.”
2 Thessalonians 1:3-4Perseverance under PersecutionThe Thessalonian believersNT parallel: Romans 5:3-4 (suffering produces ὑπομονή, endurance); Romans 8:35 (θλῖψις and διωγμός named together as forces that cannot separate believers from Christ)सहनशीलता / सतावट / कष्ट are newly established here (High risk); if Romans materials are ever revisited, these same Nepali renderings should be applied to Romans 5:3-4 and 8:35 for full-pipeline consistency. Must not read as passive, karma-shaped resignation to suffering.
2 Thessalonians 1:5God’s Righteous Judgment; Kingdom MissionNT parallel: Romans 14:17 (kingdom of God); Romans 2:5-11 (God’s righteous judgment, no partiality)Reuse [BASELINE] परमेश्वरको राज्य exactly; the judgment-adjective धर्मी (from धार्मिकता) must never shift toward a धर्म-rooted phrase.
2 Thessalonians 1:6God’s Righteous JudgmentGod as righteous judgeOT quotation background: Deuteronomy 32:35 (“It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” from the Song of Moses) — the same OT text Paul quotes directly in Romans 12:19Critical cross-curriculum consistency point. The repayment verb (ἀνταποδίδωμι) links this verse to Deuteronomy 32:35 as quoted in Romans 12:19. बदला दिनु / प्रतिफल दिनु must be used identically in both passages; flag for confirmation against the existing Romans 12:19 rendering if the Romans package is ever revisited.
2 Thessalonians 1:7Day of the Lord; Lordship of ChristThe Lord Jesus; his angelsOT allusion: Daniel 7:10 (myriads attending the throne); Zechariah 14:5 (“the Lord my God will come, and all the holy ones with him”)उहाँका सामर्थी स्वर्गदूतहरू — retain सामर्थ्य root for “mighty”; never शक्ति, per baseline’s power_of_god convention.
2 Thessalonians 1:8Day of the Lord; God’s Righteous Judgment; Obedience of FaithOT allusion: Isaiah 66:15-16 (the Lord comes in fire to execute judgment); close verbal echo of Jeremiah 10:25 / Psalm 79:6 LXX (“pour out your wrath on the nations that do not know you”). NT parallel: Romans 10:16 (“they have not all obeyed the gospel,” quoting Isaiah 53:1); Romans 1:5 (विश्वासको आज्ञाकारिता)“Do not obey the gospel” must use the same आज्ञाकारिता root already fixed for obedience_of_faith in baseline, applied consistently with Romans 10:16 and 1:5.
2 Thessalonians 1:9God’s Righteous JudgmentOT allusion: Isaiah 2:10, 19, 21 (LXX: hiding “from the presence of the fear of the Lord and from the glory of his majesty”)अनन्त विनाश is Critical; प्रभुको उपस्थितिबाट (टाढा) for relational exclusion; महिमा [BASELINE] for glory. Must never be softened into a stage within an ongoing rebirth/karma cycle.
2 Thessalonians 1:10Day of the Lord; SainthoodThe saints; all who have believedOT allusion: Psalm 89:7 (God feared in the council of the holy ones); Isaiah 2:11, 17 (the Lord alone exalted)Reuse महिमा [BASELINE] and पवित्र जन [BASELINE] exactly; अचम्मित हुनु is new, Low risk.
2 Thessalonians 1:11-12Divine Calling; Grace; Deity of ChristNT parallel: Ephesians 1:18 (calling); Pauline benediction pattern generally; joint naming of “our God” and “the Lord Jesus Christ” as recipients of glory anticipates the joint Father/Son address discussed in 2 Thessalonians 2:16 (see Section C) and Romans 9:5’s doxology to ChristReuse बोलावट [BASELINE] and अनुग्रह [BASELINE] exactly; योग्य ठहराउनु (new, Medium) must not imply merit-earning parallel to पुण्य accumulation.

Section B — Chapter 2 Cross-Reference Matrix (Core Passage 2:1-12 plus 2:13-17)

Verse-level term analysis for 2:1-12 is already complete in 07_semantic_analysis.md Part A. This table adds the specific OT/NT connective and typological layer.

PassageThemeRelated Character/FigureOT/NT ConnectionTranslation Sensitivity
2 Thessalonians 2:1-2Day of the LordThe Lord Jesus ChristOT Day-of-the-Lord background corpus: Joel 2:1-11, 2:30-31; Amos 5:18-20; Isaiah 13:6-9; Zephaniah 1:14-18; Malachi 4:5; Obadiah 1:15प्रभुको दिन is Critical. Teaching materials must explicitly distinguish this linear, unrepeatable historical culmination from cyclical yuga-ending cosmology.
2 Thessalonians 2:3Man of Lawlessness; Standing Firm in the Traditions (implicit — falling away from what was taught)The man of lawlessness / son of destructionOT typological background: Daniel 8:23-25; Daniel 11:36 (Antiochus Epiphanes as the arrogant “little horn” who exalts himself)विश्वासबाट विद्रोह and अव्यवस्थाको मानिस / विनाशको पुत्र are all Critical/High; अधर्म-rooted vocabulary is permanently forbidden across this entire doctrinal cluster.
2 Thessalonians 2:4Man of Lawlessness; Deity of Christ (by contrast)The man of lawlessnessDirect OT typological parallels: Daniel 11:36-37; Ezekiel 28:2 (king of Tyre: “I am a god, I sit in the seat of the gods, in the heart of the seas”); Isaiah 14:13-14 (king of Babylon: “I will sit on the mount of assembly… I will make myself like the Most High”)मन्दिर is High risk; teaching notes must state unambiguously that this passage condemns, not models, a god-king-enthroned-in-a-sacred-space pattern — the direct inverse of the venerated Shah-era royal-avatar ideology.
2 Thessalonians 2:5Standing Firm in the TraditionsPaulInternal Pauline reference to prior oral teaching; no direct OT citationAnchors the paradosis doctrine (developed fully in v.15) as apostolic, personally-delivered teaching, not inherited custom.
2 Thessalonians 2:6-7Man of Lawlessness; Day of the Lord”The restrainer” (unidentified)Speculative/loose typological echo occasionally proposed by interpreters: Genesis 6:3 (the Spirit’s limited restraint of human wickedness before the Flood judgment) — offered with caution, not a settled or confirmed citationरोकिराखेको is High risk; preserve the grammatical ambiguity (neuter → masculine shift) rather than resolving the restrainer’s identity; mandatory human theologian review at every occurrence.
2 Thessalonians 2:8Man of Lawlessness; Day of the Lord; Messianic Promise; Lordship of ChristThe Lord Jesus; the lawless oneDirect OT quotation/echo: Isaiah 11:4 (“with the breath of his lips he shall kill the wicked”) — a Messianic prophecy explicitly fulfilled here in Christ’s action; also Daniel 7:11, 26 (the beast’s dominion “taken away, to be consumed and destroyed”)अव्यवस्थाको मानिस Critical consistency; उहाँको मुखको सासले requires a cross-reference note to Isaiah 11:4 in teaching materials; आगमन / प्रकट हुनु Critical — must never echo अवतार-style descent phrasing.
2 Thessalonians 2:9Man of LawlessnessSatanOT typological background: Deuteronomy 13:1-3 (the test of a false prophet who gives a true sign or wonder yet leads people astray); Exodus 7:11, 22; 8:7 (Egyptian magicians counterfeiting Moses’ signs)सामर्थ्य (qualified) High; शैतान Critical — never राक्षस or मार.
2 Thessalonians 2:10-12God’s Righteous Judgment; Man of LawlessnessThose who are perishingDirect OT typological/thematic parallel: 1 Kings 22:19-23 (the Lord himself sends a deceiving spirit into the mouths of Ahab’s prophets — a judicial act against one who had already hardened himself against the truth); also Isaiah 6:9-10; Isaiah 29:10 (judicial dulling of heart, “spirit of deep sleep”)भ्रम is High risk — never माया. अधार्मिकता is Critical — never अधर्म. उद्धार [BASELINE] is reused contextually; salvation is framed as response to revealed truth, not an achievement or a liberation attained through effort.
2 Thessalonians 2:13-14Divine/Effectual Calling; SanctificationNT parallel: Romans 8:23 (ἀπαρχή, “firstfruits of the Spirit” — same term as the disputed textual variant here); Romans 15:16 (ἁγιασμῷ πνεύματος, “sanctified by the Holy Spirit” — identical phrase); Romans 8:28-30, 9:11 (election/effectual calling)Reuse परमेश्वरको छनोट, पवित्रीकरण, पवित्र आत्मा, सुसमाचार, बोलावट exactly [BASELINE] — must match the Romans renderings without deviation. Confirm base text (ἀπαρχήν vs. ἀπ’ ἀρχῆς) before finalizing; if ἀπαρχήν is adopted, render with the same firstfruits imagery family used (or to be used) at Romans 8:23.
2 Thessalonians 2:15Standing Firm in the TraditionsNT parallel: Romans 6:17 (“obedient… to the standard of teaching to which you were committed”) — a related concept of a delivered body of teaching, though a different Greek term (τύπος διδαχῆς rather than παράδοσις)परम्परा is Critical; mandatory qualifying phrase (“हामीले सिकाएका/प्रेरितहरूका परम्परा”) at every occurrence; human theologian review required at every occurrence per escalation rules.
2 Thessalonians 2:16-17Grace; Deity of ChristThe Lord Jesus Christ himself; God our FatherNT parallel: Romans 9:5 (a doxology naming Christ as “God over all,” structurally comparable to this verse’s joint Father/Son subject of a single verb, “loved us and gave us”); general Pauline grace-benedictionsReuse अनुग्रह [BASELINE]; सान्त्वना दिनु and स्थिर पार्नु are new (Low-Medium). The joint Father/Son grammatical subject is a subtle deity-of-Christ marker worth a teaching note, paralleling Romans 9:5.

Section C — Chapter 3 Cross-Reference Matrix

PassageThemeRelated Character/FigureOT/NT ConnectionTranslation Sensitivity
2 Thessalonians 3:1-2Standing Firm in the Traditions (mission dimension); Perseverance under PersecutionPaul and companionsOT allusion: Psalm 147:15 (“he sends out his word… it runs swiftly”); Isaiah 55:11 (God’s word never returning empty)Reuse सुसमाचार-adjacent वचन and महिमा [BASELINE]; बचाउनु is newly introduced and deliberately distinct from उद्धार, preserving the latter’s exclusive soteriological weight.
2 Thessalonians 3:3Perseverance under PersecutionThe Lord (as faithful protector); “the evil one”OT allusion: Deuteronomy 7:9 (“the faithful God, who keeps covenant”); Psalm 145:13; Lamentations 3:23विश्वासयोग्य and जोगाउनु are new (Medium). Flag exegetical ambiguity of “the evil one” (personal Satan vs. abstract evil) for a translator note. Assurance is grounded in God’s unchanging character, contrasted with baseline’s rejection of भाग्य/किस्मत fate-language under the election doctrine.
2 Thessalonians 3:4-5Perseverance under Persecution; Standing Firm in the TraditionsChrist (as the pattern of endurance)General wisdom-tradition idiom: Proverbs 21:1; 1 Chronicles 29:18 (the Lord directing/inclining the heart); NT parallel: Romans 5:3-4; Romans 8:25 (endurance grounded in hope)Reuse सहनशीलता (High) for ख्रीष्टको सहनशीलता; apply the same consistency note as in Section A regarding Romans 5:3-4 and 8:35/8:25.
2 Thessalonians 3:6-13Standing Firm in the Traditions (embodied conduct)Paul (as τύπος, a pattern/example)OT wisdom-tradition echo, not a formal citation: Genesis 3:19 (toil following the fall); Proverbs 6:6-11 (warning against the sluggard)नमूना / अनुकरण गर्नु are new (Medium); note the caution against guru-imitation devotional collision already flagged in 07_semantic_analysis.md. अनुशासनहीन आचरण is new (Low-Medium).
2 Thessalonians 3:14-15Standing Firm in the Traditions (church discipline)The unrepentant church memberNT parallel: Romans 16:17 (“watch out for those who cause divisions… contrary to the teaching [διδαχή] that you have been taught”) — a closely related “received teaching” conceptचेतावनी दिनु / उपदेश दिनु; शत्रु / भाइ contrast defines restorative, non-punitive discipline.
2 Thessalonians 3:16Perseverance under Persecution (closing peace)OT benediction pattern: Numbers 6:24-26 (the priestly blessing); Ruth 2:4; Judges 6:12 (“The Lord is with you”)Reuse शान्ति [BASELINE] exactly.
2 Thessalonians 3:17(Epistolary authentication; deliberate contrast with the Man of Lawlessness’s false signs)PaulNT-internal parallel: Galatians 6:11 (Paul’s own handwriting); internal contrast within 2 Thessalonians itself against the false σημεῖα of 2:9चिन्ह is Low risk but must be deliberately noted: the same lexeme carries opposite moral valence here (authenticating apostolic mark) versus 2:9 (satanic false sign). A teaching note should draw this contrast explicitly.
2 Thessalonians 3:18GraceNT parallel: Romans 16:20b (“The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you”) — near-verbatim closing benedictionReuse अनुग्रह [BASELINE]; must render identically to the established Romans 16:20 rendering per the baseline’s cross-document consistency table.

Chapters reviewed in full for coverage; no verse in 2 Thessalonians 1-3 was found to carry OT/NT connective content beyond what is tabulated above.

Section D — Messianic References Summary

ReferenceMessianic ContentOT GroundTranslation Sensitivity
2 Thessalonians 1:7, 12The Lord Jesus’s future “revelation”; his name glorifiedBackground theophany texts (Daniel 7:10; Isaiah 2)प्रभु [BASELINE, Critical]; येशू [BASELINE, Critical]; must convey exclusive, supreme Lordship, never one honorific among several religious or royal figures.
2 Thessalonians 2:1, 8The parousia and epiphaneia of “our Lord Jesus Christ”आगमन / प्रकट हुनु — Critical; must never be phrased as a repeatable avatar-style descent.
2 Thessalonians 2:8Christ destroys the lawless one “with the breath of his mouth”Isaiah 11:4 — a direct Messianic prophecy of the “shoot from the stump of Jesse” who will “strike the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips… kill the wicked”This is the clearest direct messianic-fulfillment citation in the letter. A cross-reference note to Isaiah 11:4 is mandatory in any teaching material touching 2:8. Must be taught as effortless, sovereign, word-based destruction — not combat between comparable powers, distinguishing this from avatar-versus-demon combat narratives.
2 Thessalonians 2:16”Our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father” as joint subject of a single verb of love and grace-givingComparable joint-subject doxology: Romans 9:5Subtle Deity-of-Christ marker; flag for theologian review consistent with baseline’s deity_of_christ doctrine entry.
2 Thessalonians 3:16”The Lord of peace”OT background: benedictions invoking “the Lord be with you” (Numbers 6:24-26; Judges 6:12)Reuse प्रभु, शान्ति [BASELINE].

Section E — Typological Patterns

Type (OT Figure/Pattern)Antitype (2 Thessalonians)Typological LogicTranslation Sensitivity
Antiochus Epiphanes, the arrogant “little horn” (Daniel 8:23-25; 11:36)The man of lawlessness (2 Thessalonians 2:3-4)A historical persecutor-king who exalted himself against God becomes the pattern for a final, greater eschatological figure of the same kind.Must be taught as an escalating historical pattern (a real, repeated class of self-deifying tyrants), not a cyclical cosmic-order disruption resolved by a repeatable divine avatar.
The king of Tyre, “I am a god, I sit in the seat of the gods” (Ezekiel 28:2); the king of Babylon, “I will make myself like the Most High” (Isaiah 14:13-14)The man of lawlessness enthroned in God’s temple, proclaiming himself God (2 Thessalonians 2:4)Recurring OT taunt-pattern against arrogant pagan kings who claim divine status; the man of lawlessness is the final, climactic instance of this recurring type.मन्दिर High risk; teaching notes must state clearly this passage condemns rather than models a divine-king-enthroned pattern, directly relevant given Nepal’s own recent history of a divinely-venerated monarchy.
Egyptian magicians replicating Moses’s signs (Exodus 7:11, 22; 8:7); the false prophet who gives a true sign yet leads Israel astray (Deuteronomy 13:1-3)Satan’s false signs and wonders empowering the man of lawlessness (2 Thessalonians 2:9)Counterfeit supernatural display has always accompanied opposition to God’s true messengers; Paul frames the eschatological deception as the final instance of an established OT pattern.सामर्थ्य (qualified) High — never शक्ति; झूटा चिन्ह र आश्चर्य must always carry the qualifier “false.”
Firstfruits offering (Leviticus 23:9-14)Believers as “firstfruits” chosen by God (2 Thessalonians 2:13, if the ἀπαρχήν textual variant is followed)The first portion of the harvest, set apart and dedicated to God, guarantees and represents the fuller harvest to come — applied to the church as the first fruits of God’s end-time ingathering.Direct term-level link to Romans 8:23 (ἀπαρχή, “firstfruits of the Spirit”); render consistently if this variant is adopted.
Fire theophany at Sinai (Exodus 19:18) and the burning bush (Exodus 3:2)Christ’s return “in flaming fire” (2 Thessalonians 1:7-8)God’s self-revelation has consistently been accompanied by fire imagery from the giving of the Law through to final judgment.जलिरहेको आगो — Low risk; may be paired with a brief teaching cross-reference to Sinai imagery.
The Spirit’s limited restraint of human violence before the Flood (Genesis 6:3)“The restrainer” holding back the man of lawlessness’s revelation (2 Thessalonians 2:6-7)Proposed only cautiously by some interpreters as a loose thematic echo (God restraining evil for a fixed, appointed period before decisive judgment); not a settled typological identification.Present as a possible teaching illustration only, never as a confirmed identification of the restrainer; preserve the same interpretive humility required by the High-risk ambiguity-handling note on τὸ κατέχον / ὁ κατέχων.

Section F — Parallels to the Romans Curriculum (Rendering-Consistency Focus)

Shared Term/Concept2 Thessalonians Occurrence(s)Romans Occurrence(s)Required Nepali RenderingConsistency Rule
Grace and peace greeting formula1:1-2Romans 1:7अनुग्रह, शान्ति [BASELINE]Render the full greeting formula identically in both letters.
Grace benediction, closing3:18Romans 16:20bअनुग्रह [BASELINE]Near-verbatim closing formula; render identically.
Vengeance/repayment (Deuteronomy 32:35)1:6Romans 12:19 (direct quotation)बदला दिनु / प्रतिफल दिनुBoth passages depend on the same OT text; apply the same Nepali verb choice in both.
Obedience of/to the gospel1:8Romans 1:5; 10:16 (quoting Isaiah 53:1)आज्ञाकारिता root + सुसमाचार [BASELINE]Consistent rendering of “obey(ing) the gospel” across both letters.
Kingdom of God1:5Romans 14:17परमेश्वरको राज्य [BASELINE]Reuse exactly.
Endurance/steadfastness (ὑπομονή)1:4; 3:5Romans 5:3-4; 8:25सहनशीलता (newly fixed in this curriculum)Apply retroactively to Romans occurrences if that package is revisited; do not introduce a second Nepali term for the same Greek word across curricula.
Affliction / persecution paired (θλῖψις, διωγμός)1:4, 1:6Romans 8:35कष्ट / सतावट (newly fixed in this curriculum)Same consistency principle as ὑπομονή above.
Election / God’s sovereign choice2:13Romans 8:28-30; 9:11; 11:5-7परमेश्वरको छनोट [BASELINE]Reuse exactly.
Sanctification by the Spirit2:13 (ἁγιασμῷ πνεύματος)Romans 15:16 (identical phrase)पवित्रीकरण + पवित्र आत्मा [BASELINE]Reuse the exact combined phrase.
Firstfruits (ἀπαρχή)2:13 (textual variant)Romans 8:23Firstfruits imagery, term TBD pending Romans-package cross-checkIf the ἀπαρχήν variant is adopted, render consistently with any existing Romans 8:23 firstfruits rendering.
Righteous judgment of God / no partiality1:5-9Romans 2:5-11धर्मी (adjectival extension of धार्मिकता)Never shift to धर्म-rooted vocabulary in either letter.
Unrighteousness (ἀδικία)2:10, 2:12; (adjectival ἄδικος implied 2 Thess 2:12 sense)Romans 1:18, 1:29; 2:8; 3:5; 6:13; 9:14अधार्मिकता / अधार्मिक (newly fixed in this curriculum)This is a retroactive gap in the Romans baseline: the Romans translation_memory.json does not currently carry an explicit ἀδικία entry. Recommend promoting अधार्मिकता / अधार्मिक into the shared cross-curriculum memory and flagging all six listed Romans occurrences for consistency confirmation.
Received teaching / standard of doctrine2:15; 3:6 (παράδοσις)Romans 6:17 (τύπος διδαχῆς — related but distinct term)परम्परा (heavily qualified) for παράδοσις; keep separate from any future rendering of διδαχήDo not collapse the two Greek terms into one Nepali word; they are related but distinct concepts (a body of teaching handed down vs. a pattern/standard of teaching).
Church-division warning / relational discipline3:14-15Romans 16:17चेतावनी दिनु / उपदेश दिनु; भाइ-framedBoth passages frame correction relationally, not punitively; maintain the same tone across curricula.
Power of God / power language1:7, 1:11 (his mighty angels; his power) contrasted with 2:9 (Satan’s counterfeit power)Romans 1:16 (power of God for salvation)सामर्थ्य [BASELINE], never शक्ति, in every instance including Satan’s counterfeit powerMaintain absolute consistency: सामर्थ्य-family vocabulary must never be replaced by शक्ति anywhere in either curriculum, regardless of whether the referent is God’s true power or a counterfeit.
Deity of Christ marker via joint Father/Son address2:16Romans 9:5— (structural/doctrinal parallel, not a shared lexical item)Flag both passages for theologian review under the shared deity_of_christ doctrine category.

Section G — Nepali Book-Name Citation Conventions (Extensions to Baseline)

The baseline 12_ai_translation_requirements.md fixes book names for Romans, Genesis, Psalms, Isaiah, Habakkuk, and Joel. This curriculum’s cross-references require the following additional standard Nepali Bible book-name forms, to be used consistently in all footnotes and teaching materials:

English Book NameNepali Book Name

2 Thessalonians२ थेसलोनिकी

Translation sensitivity note on Deuteronomy: व्यवस्था is already fixed in the baseline as the doctrinal rendering of νόμος (“law,” the Mosaic Law). Using व्यवस्था as both the book title (Deuteronomy) and the standing doctrinal term for “law” is linguistically standard in the Nepali Bible tradition and not itself an error, but citation contexts (e.g., “व्यवस्था ३२:३५” for Deuteronomy 32:35) must always include the chapter:verse locator so the book-title use is never mistaken for a bare doctrinal reference to “the Law” as a concept.

Verse numbers remain Arabic numerals throughout, per baseline convention. Citation format for this curriculum: 2 Thessalonians 2:4 (English house style) or २ थेसलोनिकी २:४ (Nepali house style) — confirm final house style choice with the reviewer, consistent with the baseline’s unresolved Romans citation-format note.

Section H — Rendering-Consistency Rules for Shared Quotations (Consolidated)

  1. Deuteronomy 32:35 / Romans 12:19 / 2 Thessalonians 1:6 — the repayment/vengeance verb family (ἀνταποδίδωμι) must use identical Nepali vocabulary (बदला दिनु / प्रतिफल दिनु) in every occurrence across both curricula.
  2. Isaiah 11:4 / 2 Thessalonians 2:8 — “the breath of his mouth” must be rendered उहाँको मुखको सास्/सासले with a mandatory cross-reference note to Isaiah 11:4; this is the letter’s clearest direct messianic citation and must never be treated as a mere metaphor without OT grounding.
  3. Isaiah 53:1 / Romans 10:16 / 2 Thessalonians 1:8 — “obey(ing) the gospel” must consistently use the आज्ञाकारिता root paired with सुसमाचार across both letters.
  4. Romans 8:23 / Romans 15:16 / 2 Thessalonians 2:13-14 — firstfruits and Spirit-sanctification vocabulary must be rendered identically; resolve the ἀπαρχήν/ἀπ’ ἀρχῆς textual-variant question before finalizing 2:13’s Nepali text.
  5. Deuteronomy 13:1-3 / Exodus 7:11 / 2 Thessalonians 2:9 — “signs and wonders” vocabulary (चिन्ह, अचम्मको कार्य) must always carry an explicit “false/counterfeit” qualifier in judgment contexts, while the same lexeme चिन्ह remains unqualified and positive when referring to Paul’s authenticating signature in 3:17 — translators must not harmonize these two moral valences into a single tone.
  6. 1 Kings 22:19-23 / Isaiah 6:9-10 / 2 Thessalonians 2:11 — “strong delusion” (πλάνη) must be rendered भ्रम, never माया, in every occurrence, to avoid importing the Advaita Vedanta cosmic-illusion doctrine into a specific, judicial, historically-located act of God.
  7. Ezekiel 28:2 / Isaiah 14:13-14 / Daniel 11:36-37 / 2 Thessalonians 2:4 — the self-deifying-king typology must always be framed in teaching notes as something this passage condemns, given the live cultural resonance with Nepal’s own recently-abolished god-king monarchy.
  8. Romans 1:18-9:14 (ἀδικία occurrences) / 2 Thessalonians 2:10, 2:12 — unrighteousness vocabulary (अधार्मिकता / अधार्मिक) must be added to the shared cross-curriculum translation memory and applied consistently to all Romans ἀδικία occurrences, never reverting to अधर्म-rooted phrasing anywhere in either curriculum.
  9. Romans 16:20b / 2 Thessalonians 3:18 and Romans 1:7 / 2 Thessalonians 1:1-2 — these near-verbatim Pauline formulas must be rendered identically wherever they occur, per the baseline’s existing cross-document consistency mandate for shared formulaic material.

All Critical-tier items in this document (rows marked Critical throughout Sections A-F) require mandatory human theologian review at every occurrence, per doctrine_risk_registry.json review-routing rules.
