Doctrine Analysis
Doctrine Analysis — Galatians (Full Book, Chapters 1–6)
0. Method and Scope
Galatians 2:15-21 is the theological anchor of this curriculum (Paul’s
argument that justification comes by faith in Christ, not by works of the
law, and that the believer has been crucified with Christ). Per the PRD’s
full-book coverage mandate, this document treats that passage as the
doctrinal center of gravity but analyzes all six chapters in sequence. Every
doctrine listed carries the exact risk tier and review routing recorded in
assets/doctrine_risk_registry.json; nothing here contradicts that registry.
1. Chapter-by-Chapter Doctrine Walkthrough
Galatians 1
1:1-5 (Salutation). Introduces Paul’s apostleship as directly God-given (“not from men nor through man, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised him from the dead”) — Paul’s Apostleship (High) and, in the background clause “who raised him from the dead,” Resurrection of Christ (Critical). The closing doxology (“to whom be glory forever”) touches Glory (महिमा, High, reused from the Romans baseline) but introduces no new doctrinal category.
1:6-10 (Alarm at defection; the anathema). Core statement of The True Gospel versus False Gospels (Critical) — Paul’s shock that the Galatians are turning to “a different gospel,” which is “not another” gospel at all, and the double anathema (1:8-9) pronounced on anyone preaching a counterfeit gospel.
1:11-12 (The gospel’s origin). The gospel Paul preaches did not come from man but through a revelation of Jesus Christ — continues The True Gospel versus False Gospels (Critical) and introduces the “revelation” category folded into Paul’s Apostleship (High).
1:13-17 (Paul’s former life and conversion call). Paul’s pre-conversion persecution of the church, his call, and God’s setting him apart “before I was born” — Divine Calling and Election (High) and Paul’s Apostleship (High).
1:18-24 (Early ministry; Judea’s astonishment). Narrative confirmation of Paul’s independent apostolic commission; no new doctrine introduced. Reviewed: continues Paul’s Apostleship (High) with no new term beyond that already tracked.
Galatians 2
2:1-10 (Council at Jerusalem; the pillars; Titus not circumcised). Introduces Circumcision and the New Creation (Critical, via Titus’s case), Unity of Jews and Gentiles (High, via the shared-mission recognition), Freedom in Christ (Critical, via “that our freedom in Christ might not be enslaved”), and Christian Fellowship (Low, via the “right hand of fellowship,” 2:9). “Pillars” as a leadership title is a term-level note under Paul’s Apostleship.
2:11-14 (Confrontation with Peter at Antioch; “to Judaize”). Continues Unity of Jews and Gentiles (High) and introduces the compromising practice of forcing Gentiles to “live like Jews” — folded into Law and Grace (Critical).
2:15-21 (Core passage: justification by faith; crucified with Christ). The theological anchor of the whole curriculum. Introduces Justification by Faith (Critical) in its fullest statement (“we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ”), Law and Grace (Critical, “I do not nullify the grace of God… if righteousness were through the law, then Christ died for no purpose”), and Crucified with Christ (Critical, “I have been crucified with Christ… it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me… who gave himself for me”).
Galatians 3
3:1-5 (Rebuke: bewitched Galatians; Spirit received by faith not works). Continues The True Gospel versus False Gospels (Critical, the “bewitched/deceived” rebuke) and Justification by Faith (Critical, contrasting “works of the law” with “hearing with faith”).
3:6-9 (Abraham believed God; righteousness credited). Introduces The Abrahamic Covenant and Promise (High) at full strength, directly citing Genesis 15:6 (the same imputed-righteousness text anchoring the Romans baseline).
3:10-14 (Curse of the law; redemption; blessing of Abraham). Introduces The Curse of the Law and Redemption in Christ (Critical) as its own distinct doctrine, plus continued Abrahamic Covenant and Promise (High, “blessing of Abraham… promise of the Spirit”).
3:15-18 (The promise and the singular seed). Continues The Abrahamic Covenant and Promise (High), sharpened by Paul’s grammatical argument about a singular “seed” (σπέρμα) referring to Christ.
3:19-25 (Purpose of the law; the guardian). Introduces The Law’s Purpose (High) — the law as a temporary custodial guardian until Christ.
3:26-29 (Sons of God through faith; baptism; neither Jew nor Greek; heirs). Introduces Adoption and Sonship (High, “you are all sons of God, through faith”), Baptism and Union with Christ (High), and the letter’s strongest statement of Unity of Jews and Gentiles (High, “neither Jew nor Greek, neither slave nor free, nor male and female”).
Galatians 4
4:1-7 (Heirs as minors; fullness of time; adoption; Abba, Father). Full development of Adoption and Sonship (High), with the sending of the Son at “the fullness of time” also engaging Incarnation (Critical) and, through “God sent his Son,” Sonship and Deity of Christ (Critical).
4:8-11 (Former slavery to elemental spirits; fear of relapse). Introduces Bondage to the Elemental Things of the World (Critical) as its own distinct, highest-priority doctrine for the Nepali context.
4:12-20 (Paul’s personal appeal; pastoral anguish). Reviewed: pastoral appeal language; no new doctrine beyond Christian Fellowship (Low, background) and Suffering for the Gospel (Medium, background, “as an angel of God”/Paul’s earlier reception).
4:21-31 (Hagar and Sarah; Jerusalem above; allegory of the two covenants). Continues Freedom in Christ (Critical, “Jerusalem above… is free… we are children of the free woman”) and The Abrahamic Covenant and Promise (High, applied typologically).
Galatians 5
5:1-6 (Freedom; yoke of slavery; circumcision profits nothing; faith working through love). Introduces Freedom in Christ (Critical) at its strongest single statement (“For freedom Christ has set us free…”), continues Circumcision and the New Creation (Critical), and introduces Faith Working through Love (Critical) as its own doctrine (5:6).
5:7-12 (Warning against the “leaven”; consequences of preaching circumcision). Continues Circumcision and the New Creation (Critical) and The True Gospel versus False Gospels (Critical, background).
5:13-15 (Freedom not license; serve one another in love). Continues Freedom in Christ (Critical) and Faith Working through Love (Critical).
5:16-18 (Walk by the Spirit; flesh versus Spirit introduced). Introduces Flesh versus Spirit (Critical) formally.
5:19-21 (Works of the flesh, including sorcery). Continues Flesh versus Spirit (Critical), with the φαρμακεία (sorcery) item requiring particular Nepali pastoral care per the registry.
5:22-24 (Fruit of the Spirit; crucified the flesh). Introduces Fruit of the Spirit (Critical) and continues Crucified with Christ (Critical, “those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh”).
5:25-26 (Keep step with the Spirit; no conceit or envy). Reviewed: continues Flesh versus Spirit (Critical) with no new doctrinal term.
Galatians 6
6:1-5 (Bear one another’s burdens; the law of Christ; test your own work). Introduces Bearing One Another’s Burdens (Medium) as its own doctrine.
6:6-10 (Sowing and reaping; do good to all). Introduces Sowing and Reaping (Divine Moral Governance) (Critical) as the single highest syncretism-risk statement in the letter for a Nepali audience.
6:11-16 (Paul’s own hand; circumcision versus new creation; Israel of God). Introduces Circumcision and the New Creation (Critical) at its climactic statement (“neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but a new creation”) and continues Unity of Jews and Gentiles (High, “Israel of God”).
6:17-18 (Marks of Jesus; closing benediction). Introduces Suffering for the Gospel (Medium, “I bear on my body the marks of Jesus”). The closing grace-benediction is reviewed: standard form, no new doctrine beyond Grace (High, reused from the Romans baseline).
2. Full-Book Doctrine Matrix
All risk tiers and review routings below are identical to
assets/doctrine_risk_registry.json. This table consolidates that registry
into a single chapter-referenced matrix for Phase 1 sign-off.
| # | Doctrine | Supporting Passages (Galatians) | Risk Level | Translation Risk (Nepali-Specific) | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | The True Gospel versus False Gospels | 1:6-9, 1:11-12, 2:5, 2:14, 3:1 | Critical | ἕτερον vs ἄλλο distinction must not imply a legitimate second gospel; anathema (1:8-9) must read as God’s judicial verdict, not a literal folk-curse (dokh, jhankri-curse, boksi-accusation). | Human theologian |
| 2 | Paul’s Apostleship | 1:1, 1:11-24, 2:1-10, 6:17 | High | Direct divine commissioning must not be softened; “slave of Christ” (दास) carries Kamaiya/Kamlari bonded-labor memory requiring pastoral framing. | Human theologian |
| 3 | Divine Calling and Election | 1:6, 1:15, 5:8, 5:13 | High | Pre-natal setting-apart must read as sovereign personal choice, not karma-determined destiny. | Human theologian |
| 4 | Justification by Faith | 2:16-17, 3:6-11, 3:24, 5:4-5 | Critical | धर्मी ठहराइने कार्य/धार्मिकता must retain forensic sense; व्यवस्थाका कामहरू must be sharply distinguished from सत्कर्म merit-vocabulary. | Human theologian |

| 6 | Crucified with Christ | 2:19-20, 5:24, 6:14 | Critical | Must be distinguished from sādhu ascetic self-mortification (tapasyā); a God-accomplished, once-for-all union appropriated by faith. | Human theologian |
| 7 | The Abrahamic Covenant and Promise | 3:6-9, 3:14-18, 3:29 | High | प्रतिज्ञा is a specific historical pledge, no cyclical-karma analog; वंश’s singular/collective ambiguity risks losing Paul’s 3:16 argument. | Human theologian |
| 8 | The Curse of the Law and Redemption in Christ | 3:10, 3:13 | Critical | श्राप must anchor to Deuteronomic covenant-curse background, not live folk-belief in magical curses; छुटकारा must convey a definite price paid, not karmic debt-clearing. | Human theologian |
| 9 | The Law’s Purpose | 3:19-25, 3:29 | High | अभिभावक (guardian) must be distinguished from the ongoing, honored guru-shishya relationship; the law’s custodial role is explicitly temporary. | Human theologian |
| 10 | Adoption and Sonship | 3:26, 4:1-7, 4:22-31 | High | दत्तक पुत्रता must guard against caste-linked lower-status readings; उत्तराधिकारी must convey equal inheritance for all believers. | Human theologian |
| 11 | Freedom in Christ | 2:4, 4:21-31, 5:1, 5:13 | Critical | स्वतन्त्रता must not collapse into merely political/social liberty (a live post-2008 republican concept); bondage imagery (दासत्व, जुवा) resonates with Kamaiya/Kamlari history. | Human theologian |
| 12 | Bondage to the Elemental Things of the World | 4:3, 4:8-10 | Critical | Highest-priority flag: must not affirm real animistic spirit-power (jhankri shamanism, tantric practice); render as elementary religious systems, not living spiritual forces. | Human theologian |
| 13 | Circumcision and the New Creation | 2:3-5, 5:2-6, 5:11, 6:12-15 | Critical | खतना requires OT covenant background explanation; नयाँ सृष्टि must be distinguished from cyclical Hindu srishti-sthiti-pralaya and Buddhist dependent-origination frameworks. | Human theologian |
| 14 | Unity of Jews and Gentiles | 2:11-14, 3:26-29, 6:16 | High | 3:28’s sweeping equality directly challenges caste hierarchy formerly codified in the Muluki Ain; retain full, unqualified universality. | Human theologian |
| 15 | Baptism and Union with Christ | 3:27-28 | High | बप्तिस्मा must be distinguished from Hindu ritual river-bathing for merit/purification (e.g., Bagmati at Pashupatinath); a one-time union with Christ, not repeatable ritual. | Human theologian |
| 16 | Flesh versus Spirit | 5:13, 5:16-17, 5:19-21, 5:24, 6:8 | Critical | शरीर must not be read through māyā deha, ascetic body-denial, or matter/spirit dualism; a moral-allegiance contrast. Sorcery (φαρμακεία) within the list is a live pastoral category (jhankri, tantra, boksi accusation). | Human theologian |
| 17 | Fruit of the Spirit | 5:22-23 | Critical | Singular आत्माको फल preserves unified organic virtue, not a merit-checklist; प्रेम must be willed, active love, not romantic/bhakti sentiment. | Human theologian |
| 18 | Faith Working through Love | 5:6, 5:13-14 | Critical | Faith remains the sole ground of standing; love is faith’s organic fruit, not a second merit-requirement. | Human theologian |
| 19 | Bearing One Another’s Burdens | 6:1-5 | Medium | भारी (porter’s load) is a positive cultural asset; ख्रीष्टको व्यवस्था must be distinguished from reversion to Mosaic law as grounds for righteousness. | Native speaker |
| 20 | Sowing and Reaping (Divine Moral Governance) | 6:7-9 | Critical | Highest single syncretism-risk statement in the letter: must anchor to a personal God’s just governance in this life and final judgment, never impersonal karma across rebirths. | Human theologian |
| 21 | Sonship and Deity of Christ | 1:1, 1:4, 2:20, 4:4-6 | Critical | परमेश्वरका पुत्र requires the full phrase; never देवपुत्र, which would place Christ within a Hindu/Buddhist pantheon of lesser divine beings. | Human theologian |
| 22 | Incarnation | 4:4 | Critical | NEVER अवतार, given the Shah-dynasty monarchy’s living-avatar theology within recent memory; देहधारण is a unique, once-for-all act. | Human theologian |
| 23 | Resurrection of Christ | 1:1 | Critical | पुनरुत्थान, never पुनर्जन्म; foundational to Paul’s apostolic commissioning; distinguished from Hindu/Buddhist rebirth frameworks. | Human theologian |
| 24 | Christian Fellowship | 2:9, 6:6 | Low | सहभागिता carries the weight of covenant community formed under past legal restriction, not mere social friendship. | Automated review |
| 25 | Suffering for the Gospel | 4:29, 5:11, 6:12, 6:17 | Medium | येशूका चोटका डामहरू must be clarified as literal persecution-scars, not tilaka, ash-marks, or ritual scarification. | Native speaker |
Risk Summary (matches doctrine_risk_registry.json): Critical: 15 | High: 7 | Medium: 2 | Low: 1 | Total requiring theologian review: 22 | Total requiring native speaker review: 2 | Total automated-only: 1.
3. Chapters Reviewed with No New Doctrine Beyond Existing Tracking
Per the full-coverage mandate, the following passage-level sections were explicitly reviewed and confirmed to introduce no doctrine or term beyond those already captured above:
- Galatians 1:18-24 — narrative confirmation of Paul’s independent commission; no new term.
- Galatians 4:12-20 — pastoral appeal; continues Fellowship and Suffering for the Gospel only, no new doctrinal category.
- Galatians 5:25-26 — continues Flesh versus Spirit only, no new term.
- Galatians 6:17-18 (closing benediction) — standard grace-benediction
form, reusing the Romans baseline’s
graceandpeaceentries only.
4. Cross-Reference

translation_memory.json/bible_term_registry.json— authoritative for every term shared with the Romans baseline (Gospel, Grace, Faith, Righteousness, Justification, Law, Sin, Holy Spirit, God, Jesus, Lord, Son of God, Incarnation, Resurrection, Adoption, Covenant, Election, Glory, Church, Gentiles, Israel, Fellowship, Kingdom of God).
Critical Risk Doctrines
The True Gospel versus False Gospels
Nepali name: साँचो सुसमाचार र झूटा सुसमाचारहरू
Key terms: gospel, different_gospel, anathema, bewitched_deceived
Review routing: Human theologian
The Greek distinguishes ἕτερον (a gospel of a different kind) from ἄλλο (another of the same kind); a careless Nepali rendering risks implying सुसमाचार has legitimate variants. Paul’s anathema pronouncement (1:8-9) must be rendered as God’s judicial verdict, not heard through Nepal’s live folk-belief in literal curses (dokh, jhankri-curses, boksi-accusations), which could make the pronouncement sound like a magical hex rather than a doctrinal judgment.
Justification by Faith
Nepali name: विश्वासद्वारा धर्मी ठहराइने कार्य
Key terms: justification, righteousness, faith, faith_in_christ, imputed_righteousness, works_of_the_law
Review routing: Human theologian
The letter’s central verb-and-noun cluster (धर्मी ठहराइने कार्य / धार्मिकता) must retain its forensic, declared-righteous sense, never collapsing into मात्र माफी (mere forgiveness) or reading as धर्म-linked religious duty. व्यवस्थाका कामहरू (works of the law) must be sharply distinguished from सत्कर्म, the merit-accumulation vocabulary shared by Nepali Hindu and Buddhist ethics.
Law and Grace
Nepali name: व्यवस्था र अनुग्रह
Key terms: law, grace, nullify_grace, died_in_vain, judaize, judaism
Review routing: Human theologian
Grace (अनुग्रह) and law-based standing are presented as mutually exclusive throughout the letter; the Nepali rendering must never drift toward पुण्य (accumulated religious merit, shared Hindu/Buddhist ethical vocabulary), the same collision the Romans baseline documents for grace generally, here sharpened into the letter’s central polemic.
Crucified with Christ
Nepali name: ख्रीष्टसँगै क्रुसमा टाँगिएको
Key terms: crucified_with_christ, flesh_neutral, gave_himself_for_me
Review routing: Human theologian
Must be theologically distinguished from Nepal’s sādhu/ascetic tradition of bodily self-mortification (tapasyā) practiced as a path to spiritual attainment, and from any works-based reading of ‘dying to self’ as a meritorious human achievement. This is a God-accomplished, once-for-all union with Christ’s death, appropriated by faith, not a repeatable ascetic discipline.
The Curse of the Law and Redemption in Christ
Nepali name: व्यवस्थाको श्राप र ख्रीष्टद्वारा छुटकारा
Key terms: curse_of_law, redeem
Review routing: Human theologian
श्राप (curse) must be anchored to the specific Deuteronomic covenant-curse background absorbed once by Christ, not conflated with Nepal’s live folk-belief in magical curses (dokh, jhankri-curses, boksi-accusations) requiring shamanic removal. छुटकारा (redemption) must convey a definite price paid by Christ, not karmic debt-clearing across lifetimes.
Freedom in Christ
Nepali name: ख्रीष्टमा स्वतन्त्रता
Key terms: freedom, slavery_bondage, yoke_of_slavery, jerusalem_above
Review routing: Human theologian
स्वतन्त्रता must not collapse into merely political/social liberty — a live, positive but distinct concept in post-2008 republican Nepal — divorced from freedom from sin and the law’s condemnation. The bondage/slavery imagery (दासत्व, जुवा) resonates with Nepal’s Kamaiya/Kamlari bonded-labor history and requires pastoral care even while being doctrinally apt.
Bondage to the Elemental Things of the World
Nepali name: संसारका आधारभूत तत्वहरूको दासत्व
Key terms: elemental_things, slavery_bondage
Review routing: Human theologian
Highest-priority flag: the rejected alternative rendering आत्मिक शक्तिहरू (‘spiritual powers/forces’) risks affirming the real, ongoing authority of animistic spirit-powers over believers, given Nepal’s active jhankri shamanic tradition, spirit-possession practice, and belief in local nature-spirits and territorial deities. Must be rendered as elementary religious principles/systems, and the doctrine framed as freedom from bondage to any such power, whether legalistic-religious or animistic-spiritual.
Circumcision and the New Creation
Nepali name: खतना र नयाँ सृष्टि
Key terms: circumcision, uncircumcision, new_creation
Review routing: Human theologian
खतना carries low cultural-collision risk in Nepal (no live parallel ritual) but Critical doctrinal weight requiring OT covenant background explanation for readers with low prior biblical literacy. नयाँ सृष्टि must be distinguished from Hindu cyclical srishti-sthiti-pralaya cosmology and Buddhist emptiness/dependent-origination frameworks; it is a definitive, linear, grace-given eschatological order, parallel in weight to the baseline’s resurrection entry.
Flesh versus Spirit
Nepali name: शरीर विरुद्ध आत्मा
Key terms: flesh_moral, walk_by_spirit, works_of_the_flesh, sorcery, holy_spirit
Review routing: Human theologian
The highest-priority disambiguation flag in the letter: शरीर (flesh) must not be read through Hindu/Buddhist body-as-illusion (māyā deha) frameworks, ascetic bodily-denial-as-liberation frameworks central to Nepal’s visible sādhu tradition, or a simple matter-versus-spirit dualism — this is a contrast of moral allegiance, not substance. Within the works-of-the-flesh list, φαρμακεία (sorcery) is a live, ongoing category in Nepal (jhankri shamanism, tantric ritual practice, real boksi/witch accusations), making this a live pastoral issue requiring careful, non-antiquarian framing.
Fruit of the Spirit
Nepali name: आत्माको फल
Key terms: fruit_of_the_spirit, love_agape, faithfulness_virtue, holy_spirit
Review routing: Human theologian
Singular आत्माको फल (not plural फलहरू) must preserve Paul’s point that these virtues are one unified organic product of the Spirit’s indwelling, not a checklist of separately-achieved accomplishments; rendering must avoid both merit-achievement framing (contradicting grace) and passive-quietist framing (understating active cooperation). प्रेम (agapē) within the list must be anchored as willed, active, self-giving love, not romantic/bhakti-devotional sentiment.
Faith Working through Love
Nepali name: प्रेमद्वारा काम गर्ने विश्वास
Key terms: faith_working_through_love, love_agape, faith
Review routing: Human theologian
Must preserve faith as the sole ground of standing before God while conveying love as faith’s necessary, organic fruit, not a second merit-earning requirement stacked alongside faith — the same grace-versus-merit distinction the baseline documents against पुण्य, applied here to a compound doctrinal phrase.
Sowing and Reaping (Divine Moral Governance)
Nepali name: छर्ने र कटनी गर्ने (परमेश्वरको न्यायिक व्यवस्थापन)
Key terms: sow_and_reap
Review routing: Human theologian
The single highest-risk statement in the letter for accidental syncretism: ‘whatever a man sows, he will also reap’ is extremely close in surface form to the pervasive Hindu/Buddhist law of karma, the single most widespread folk-theological framework in Nepal. Direct parallel to the Romans baseline’s Critical-risk handling of providence; must be explicitly anchored to a personal God’s just governance of moral consequence within a present-life and final-judgment framework, never an impersonal cosmic law operating automatically across rebirths.
Sonship and Deity of Christ
Nepali name: ख्रीष्टको पुत्रत्व र ईश्वरत्व
Key terms: son_of_god, lord, jesus, messiah
Review routing: Human theologian
परमेश्वरका पुत्र requires the full phrase; never देवपुत्र, which would wrongly place Christ within a Hindu/Buddhist pantheon of lesser divine or celestial beings rather than as the eternal, unique Son within the Godhead.
Incarnation
Nepali name: देहधारण
Key terms: incarnation, son_of_god
Review routing: Human theologian
NEVER अवतार. This doctrine carries unusually concrete, recent political weight in Nepal, whose Shah-dynasty kings were venerated as living avatars of Vishnu until the monarchy’s 2008 abolition. देहधारण must be taught as a unique, once-for-all act of divine self-disclosure, not a repeatable royal or divine descent.
Resurrection of Christ
Nepali name: ख्रीष्टको पुनरुत्थान
Key terms: resurrection
Review routing: Human theologian
पुनरुत्थान, never पुनर्जन्म; presupposed as the foundation of Paul’s apostolic commissioning and must be distinguished from Hindu rebirth and Buddhist karma-driven rebirth across six realms.
High Risk Doctrines
Paul’s Apostleship
Nepali name: पावलको प्रेरितत्व
Key terms: apostle, revelation, slave_of_christ, pillars, marks_of_jesus
Review routing: Human theologian
Paul’s apostleship is directly divine, not humanly-derived (1:1); this contrast must not be softened. दास (slave) in ख्रीष्टका दास carries real social memory from Nepal’s Kamaiya/Kamlari bonded-labor history and needs pastoral framing so it reads as honored total belonging to Christ, not endorsement of coerced servitude.
Divine Calling and Election
Nepali name: परमेश्वरको बोलावट र छनोट
Key terms: called, calling, election
Review routing: Human theologian
Paul’s pre-natal setting-apart (1:15) must be rendered as God’s sovereign, personal choice, not karma-determined destiny shared by both Nepali Hindu and Buddhist frameworks, consistent with the Romans baseline’s caution on परमेश्वरको छनोट.
The Abrahamic Covenant and Promise
Nepali name: अब्राहामको करार र प्रतिज्ञा
Key terms: covenant, promise, seed_offspring, blessing_of_abraham, imputed_righteousness
Review routing: Human theologian
The promise (प्रतिज्ञा) is a specific, historical, unilateral divine pledge with no cyclical-karma analog. Paul’s exegetical argument at 3:16 depends on σπέρμα being read as a singular referent (Christ); Nepali वंश can read ambiguously as singular or collective, risking loss of this argument without an explanatory note.
The Law’s Purpose
Nepali name: व्यवस्थाको उद्देश्य
Key terms: law, guardian_tutor, transgressor
Review routing: Human theologian
The Law’s custodial-guardian role (अभिभावक) must be distinguished from the ongoing, honored guru-shishya relationship in Hindu/Buddhist tradition; παιδαγωγός is explicitly temporary and terminating once its purpose (bringing one to Christ) is fulfilled.
Adoption and Sonship
Nepali name: दत्तक पुत्रता र पुत्रत्व
Key terms: adoption, no_longer_slave_but_son, abba, father, heir
Review routing: Human theologian
Full son-status with complete inheritance rights (दत्तक पुत्रता) must guard against a lower-status reading shaped by caste-linked social hierarchy still felt in parts of Nepali society, and against reading उत्तराधिकारी (heir) through traditional caste- or gender-linked inheritance custom rather than equal inheritance for all believers.
Unity of Jews and Gentiles
Nepali name: यहूदी र अन्यजातिहरूको एकता
Key terms: gentiles, israel, baptism, heir
Review routing: Human theologian
Galatians 3:28’s sweeping ‘neither Jew nor Greek, neither slave nor free, nor male and female’ directly challenges caste-based spiritual hierarchy, formally codified in Nepali state law (the Muluki Ain) until 1963, and social devaluation still experienced along caste, gender, and bonded-labor-descended lines. Retain full, unqualified universality without softening.
Baptism and Union with Christ
Nepali name: बप्तिस्मा र ख्रीष्टसँगको एकता
Key terms: baptism, faith_in_christ
Review routing: Human theologian
बप्तिस्मा must be sharply distinguished from Hindu ritual river-bathing for purification/merit at sacred sites such as the Bagmati at Pashupatinath, a live and visible current practice; baptism marks a one-time union with Christ, not repeatable merit-earning ritual purification.
Medium Risk Doctrines
Bearing One Another’s Burdens
Nepali name: एकअर्काका भारी बोक्ने
Key terms: bear_burdens, law_of_christ
Review routing: Native speaker
भारी (a porter’s load) is a vivid, positively-resonant image in Nepal’s mountain-portering culture, an asset rather than a collision risk; ख्रीष्टको व्यवस्था (law of Christ) must be clearly distinguished from a reversion to Mosaic law as grounds for righteousness.
Suffering for the Gospel
Nepali name: सुसमाचारको निम्ति दुःखभोग
Key terms: marks_of_jesus, false_brothers
Review routing: Native speaker
येशूका चोटका डामहरू (marks of Jesus) must be clarified as literal persecution-scars, not tilaka/forehead markings, ash-marks, or ritual scarification familiar from Hindu devotional practice.
Low Risk Doctrines
Christian Fellowship
Nepali name: मसीही सहभागिता
Key terms: fellowship, pillars
Review routing: Automated review
Shared participation in gospel mission, formally recognized in the ‘right hand of fellowship’ (2:9); carries the weight of covenant community formed under the Nepali church’s history of legal restriction, not mere social friendship.
