Doctrine Analysis
Doctrine Analysis — 2 Corinthians (English → Korean)
Purpose
This document is the full-book doctrine matrix for the 2 Corinthians curriculum (PRD Phase 1 Step 4). It walks the entire epistle, chapter 1 through chapter 13, mapping every load-bearing doctrine to its supporting passages, risk tier, Korean-specific translation risk, and review routing. It is fully consistent with assets/doctrine_risk_registry.json: the same 17 doctrines, the same names, the same risk tiers, and the same review routing appear here and there. This document adds the chapter-sequential walk-through and translation-risk framing that the registry (a lookup database) does not itself narrate.
The core passage, 2 Corinthians 5:11-21, is the theological anchor of the curriculum — the fulcrum where reconciliation, new creation, judgment-seat accountability, sincerity of ministry, and Christ-centered identity converge in a single unit. It is not, however, the scope boundary: every chapter of the letter is analyzed below, and any chapter contributing no new doctrinal load is explicitly marked as reviewed rather than silently skipped.
Risk Tier Definitions (inherited from baseline, unchanged)
| Tier | Definition | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|
| Critical | Mistranslation alters or destroys essential doctrine | Human theologian, every occurrence |
| High | Mistranslation creates significant theological confusion or syncretism risk | Human theologian |
| Medium | Mistranslation reduces clarity but preserves essential meaning | Native speaker review |
| Low | Mistranslation causes minor misunderstanding or imprecision | Automated review |
Chapter-by-Chapter Doctrine Walk-Through
Chapter 1 — Comfort, Sincerity, and the Spirit’s Seal
| Doctrine | Risk | Supporting Passages | Translation Risk Notes (Korean) | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Suffering and Comfort in Ministry | High | 2 Cor 1:3-11 | 환난/위로 must be taught as God-permitted, meaningful hardship met with God’s personal comfort — never impersonal bad luck (액운) addressed through ritual catharsis (굿). Comfort received is explicitly relayed outward to others, not privately consumed. | Human theologian |
| Sincerity and Apostolic Authority | High | 2 Cor 1:12 | 진실함/순전함 (“holiness and sincerity”) contrasted with worldly wisdom; guard against collapsing into 체면-preserving performative sincerity. | Human theologian |
| Assurance via the Spirit’s Seal and Guarantee | High | 2 Cor 1:21-22 | 인치다 (sealed) and 보증 (guarantee/down payment) both risk collision with the amulet/talisman (부적) pattern; must be taught as the Spirit’s personal, relational pledge of a certain future, not a magical security charm. | Human theologian |
| Thanksgiving and Gratitude | Low | 2 Cor 1:11 | Standard 감사; minor risk of generic secular gratitude divorced from God as its object. | Automated review |
Chapter 2 — Forgiveness, Triumph, and the Danger of Peddling the Word
| Doctrine | Risk | Supporting Passages | Translation Risk Notes (Korean) | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Forgiveness and Restoration in the Church | Medium | 2 Cor 2:5-11 | 용서 must be grace-grounded release of a wrong, not merely face-saving (체면) social harmony-restoration that leaves the underlying grace-transaction untaught. | Native speaker review |
| Sincerity and Apostolic Authority | High | 2 Cor 2:17 | ”Peddling the word” (말씀을 혼잡하게 하다) has acute, self-critical resonance with Korean prosperity-gospel commercialization and the 기복신앙 transactional pattern already Critical under grace; must retain Paul’s contrast between profit-motivated speech and speech “as from God.” | Human theologian |
| Genuine versus False Apostleship (supporting motif) | High | 2 Cor 2:14-16 | The “aroma/fragrance of Christ” (향기) and “triumph in Christ” (이기게 하다) risk collision with incense-offering ritual (jesa, Buddhist temple worship) and achievement-culture (출세) misreadings respectively; both are metaphors for gospel proclamation and Christ’s victory, not literal ritual offering or career success. | Human theologian |
| Thanksgiving and Gratitude | Low | 2 Cor 2:14 | Standard 감사 usage within the triumph metaphor. | Automated review |
Chapter 3 — The New Covenant versus the Old
| Doctrine | Risk | Supporting Passages | Translation Risk Notes (Korean) | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The New Covenant versus the Old | High | 2 Cor 3:1-18 | Central chapter for this doctrine. Korean’s clean 언약/계약 distinction is an asset carried from the Romans baseline. Special flag: the bare noun 영 (without the 성 prefix) is a legitimate, established KRV rendering for the Holy Spirit at 3:6, 17-18 — every such occurrence must be explicitly glossed as the Holy Spirit in teaching materials so it is never misread as a generic or shamanistic spirit (신령). The transformation motif (변화하다, 3:18) must be distinguished from Daoist immortal-attainment (신선) and Buddhist enlightenment-attainment. | Human theologian |
| Christian Identity in Christ (supporting) | High | 2 Cor 3:18 | ”From glory to glory” (영광에서 영광) transformation grounds identity in beholding the Lord, not in self-cultivation (도 닦기, 수행). | Human theologian |
Chapter 4 — Treasure in Jars of Clay
| Doctrine | Risk | Supporting Passages | Translation Risk Notes (Korean) | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Suffering and Comfort in Ministry | High | 2 Cor 4:7-12, 4:16-18 | ”Death of Jesus / life of Jesus” carried in the body (예수의 죽음/생명) is participatory display of the gospel, not misfortune to be ritually reversed. “Jars of clay” (질그릇, Low-risk metaphor) illustrates the same point vividly with minimal collision risk. | Human theologian |
| Power in Weakness | Critical | 2 Cor 4:7 | ”Treasure in jars of clay, so that the surpassing power may be of God and not from us” — foundational statement of this doctrine’s paradox; extends the baseline Critical guard on 능력 (never 영력, a shaman’s spirit-power). | Human theologian |
Chapter 5 — Core Passage: Reconciliation, New Creation, and Sincere Ministry
2 Corinthians 5:11-21 is the theological anchor of the whole curriculum; every doctrine below converges here.
| Doctrine | Risk | Supporting Passages | Translation Risk Notes (Korean) | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Reconciliation with God | Critical | 5:18-20, 5:19, 5:21 | 화목 is an everyday secular Korean word for family/social harmony and risks collapsing God’s one-directional, once-for-all, Christ-accomplished act into mutual-effort harmony-restoration, or into jesa’s (제사) continual-appeasement logic. The imperative “be reconciled” (5:20) must be taught as receiving, not achieving or negotiating, an already-completed divine act. | Human theologian |
| New Creation in Christ | Critical | 5:17, 5:16 | 새로운 피조물 converges three live risks: Buddhist rebirth/reincarnation (환생, 윤회); self-cultivation transformation (수행, 도 닦기); and shamanistic fortune-reset ritual (액땜, 살풀이). New creation is God’s finished act received by faith, not a life-cycle iteration, an attainment, or a ritual reset. | Human theologian |
| The Judgment Seat of Christ | High | 5:10-11 | 심판대 risks collision with karmic accounting (인과응보) and folk-Buddhist judgment before the ten underworld kings (시왕); must be taught as Christ’s evaluation of an already-secure believer’s life for reward/loss, not a salvation-determining karmic ledger. | Human theologian |
| Sincerity and Apostolic Authority | High | 5:11-12, 5:20 | ”Fear of the Lord” (주를 두려워함) is reverential awe before a personal, judging God, distinct from superstitious fear of spirits/misfortune (귀신, 액운). “Ambassador” (사신이 되다, 5:20) must retain delegated-authority-in-humble-service sense, resisting a political-career/diplomatic-prestige framing. | Human theologian |
| Christian Identity in Christ | High | 5:14-17 | Identity grounded in Christ’s representative death/resurrection (5:14-15), not clan/lineage status, social achievement (출세), or ritual loyalty performance. | Human theologian |
| Assurance via the Spirit’s Seal and Guarantee | High | 5:1-5 | ”Earthly tent / heavenly house” and the Spirit’s guarantee (보증) continue the amulet/talisman (부적) collision risk flagged in ch.1; future hope, not magical security. | Human theologian |
| Imputed Righteousness (baseline term, direct sequel to Romans 4) | Critical | 5:21 | ”So that we might become the righteousness of God” directly extends the Romans baseline’s forensic imputation logic (의로 여기심); must not slide toward 의리 (loyalty-ethics) or an earned/cultivated 의. | Human theologian |
Chapter 6 — The Church as God’s Temple
| Doctrine | Risk | Supporting Passages | Translation Risk Notes (Korean) | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Church as God’s Temple | High | 6:14-18 | 하나님의 성전 must never resonate with a shamanistic village shrine (당집), a Buddhist temple (절), or especially the Confucian ancestral shrine (사당) housing ancestor tablets for jesa — the same instrumental ritual-maintenance logic already Critical under “father” in the Romans baseline. The church is the Spirit-indwelt community of living believers, not a site requiring ongoing ritual devotion. Supporting term: “unequally yoked” (멍에를 함께 메지 말라) carries a secondary risk of misapplication toward Confucian marriage/social-status matching rather than the intended compromise-with-idolatry warning. | Human theologian |
| Suffering and Comfort in Ministry (supporting) | High | 6:4-10 | Paul’s catalogue of afflictions endured “as servants of God” reinforces ch.1/4’s teaching that suffering is meaningful and ministry-instrumental, not misfortune. | Human theologian |
Chapter 7 — Godly Sorrow and Restored Comfort
| Doctrine | Risk | Supporting Passages | Translation Risk Notes (Korean) | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Godly Sorrow and Repentance | High | 7:8-11 | Korea’s strong 체면 (chemyeon) face-culture produces shame over lost social standing that closely mimics godly sorrow while remaining merely worldly sorrow. 회개 (repentance) must never be rendered or taught as 참회, the Buddhist ritual confession/karma-purification practice. Repentance is a Spirit-produced reorientation toward God flowing from grace. | Human theologian |
| Suffering and Comfort in Ministry (supporting) | High | 7:4-7, 7:13 | Titus’s arrival and news bring relational comfort, reinforcing the doctrine’s pattern of comfort received and then shared. | Human theologian |
Chapter 8 — Generosity Rooted in Grace
| Doctrine | Risk | Supporting Passages | Translation Risk Notes (Korean) | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Generosity and Grace in Giving | Critical | 8:1-9, 8:13-15 | Directly parallels the baseline’s Critical-risk treatment of 은혜: Korean religious giving culture includes Buddhist temple almsgiving (시주, believed to generate merit) and shamanistic ritual fees (굿값) paid to secure a mudang’s blessing — the same 기복신앙 transactional pattern. Giving must be taught as a grace-produced, non-transactional overflow of joy, modeled on Christ’s self-impoverishment (8:9, 가난하게 되심), not a merit-earning offering. | Human theologian |
Chapter 9 — The Cheerful, Sufficient Giver
| Doctrine | Risk | Supporting Passages | Translation Risk Notes (Korean) | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Generosity and Grace in Giving | Critical | 9:6-15 | ”Sow and reap” (심다/거두다, 9:6) must be distinguished from the impersonal karmic proverb “뿌린 대로 거둔다” — God’s response to generosity is personal and gracious, not a mechanical karmic law. “Cheerful giver” (즐겨 내는 자) and “sufficiency” (자족) reinforce non-transactional, joy-motivated giving against both merit-logic and self-made achievement-independence (자수성가) framings. | Human theologian |
| Thanksgiving and Gratitude | Low | 9:15 | ”Indescribable gift” (말할 수 없는 은사) must be disambiguated from the technical “spiritual gifts” (은사) sense used elsewhere in the curriculum. | Automated review |
Chapter 10 — Paul’s Defense and the Weapons of Warfare
| Doctrine | Risk | Supporting Passages | Translation Risk Notes (Korean) | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Boasting Paradox | High | 10:17-18 | ”Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord” directly confronts Korea’s credential-and-status-conscious culture (학벌, 스펙, 출세), which normalizes self-commending boasting as standard social practice. | Human theologian |
| Power in Weakness (supporting) | Critical | 10:3-5 | ”Stronghold” (견고한 진) risks collision with shamanistic exorcism/spiritual-warfare ritual (굿을 통한 축귀); the weapons Paul describes are divine but exercised through argument/persuasion in humility, not ritual power-display. | Human theologian |
Chapter 11 — False Apostles and Paul’s Painful Boast
| Doctrine | Risk | Supporting Passages | Translation Risk Notes (Korean) | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Genuine versus False Apostleship | High | 11:1-15, 11:22-33 | 거짓 사도 has acute contemporary resonance with Korean new religious movements and self-declared “second coming”/messianic cult leaders — a well-documented pastoral concern. Paul’s discernment criteria (self-promotion, financial exploitation, distorted gospel, claimed extraordinary authority) apply directly. “Disguise as an angel of light” (광명의 천사로 가장하다) reinforces the discernment warning; “super-apostles” (지극히 크다는 사도들) must be preserved as sarcasm, never honor. | Human theologian |
| The Boasting Paradox | High | 11:16-30 | Paul’s catalog of suffering as his ironic “boast” must retain full subversive force against status-boasting norms, not soften into generic humility. | Human theologian |
Chapter 12 — Visions, the Thorn, and Power Perfected in Weakness
| Doctrine | Risk | Supporting Passages | Translation Risk Notes (Korean) | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Power in Weakness | Critical | 12:7-10 | The doctrine’s clearest statement: “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness” (능력이 약한 데서 온전하여짐). Korean charismatic and shamanistic paradigms alike generally seek power to overcome or remove weakness/affliction; this is the theological inverse — power displayed IN, not instead of, unresolved weakness. The “thorn in the flesh” (육체의 가시) must not be read through ancestral-curse/spirit-affliction (조상의 한, 원한) logic requiring ritual removal (푸닥거리, 살풀이); it is answered with sufficient grace, not removed. This paradox must never be softened toward a “power overcomes weakness” reading. | Human theologian |
| The Boasting Paradox | High | 12:5-10 | Paul boasts only in weaknesses, the direct climax of the paradox introduced in chs. 10-11. | Human theologian |
| Genuine versus False Apostleship | High | 12:11-12 | ”Signs of an apostle” (사도의 표) tied to endurance and gospel-centeredness, not self-promotion; guards against reducing apostolic legitimacy to spectacle. | Human theologian |
Note: “Third heaven / Paradise” (셋째 하늘/낙원, 12:2-4) carries a Buddhist Pure Land (극락) collision risk at the term level (per Core Glossary Section B #55) but is not itself elevated to a standalone doctrine in the registry; it functions as supporting evidence within Genuine versus False Apostleship (Paul’s reluctant, God-given credentials versus boastful self-promotion) and is reviewed accordingly.
Chapter 13 — Self-Examination and the Trinitarian Benediction
| Doctrine | Risk | Supporting Passages | Translation Risk Notes (Korean) | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sincerity and Apostolic Authority | High | 13:5 | ”Examine yourselves” (자신을 시험하다) risks collision with the Korean practice of fortune-telling self-consultation (사주를 보다); this is Spirit-illumined self-testing of genuine faith before God, not divinatory self-consultation. | Human theologian |
| Power in Weakness | Critical | 13:4 | ”Crucified in weakness… lives by the power of God” restates the doctrine’s core paradox at the letter’s close. | Human theologian |
| Trinitarian Benediction | Critical | 13:14 | The closing benediction names all three Persons of the Trinity by distinctive relational gift and is among the most widely used liturgical formulas in Korean church life (교회의 축도). Every element — 은혜 (Critical baseline term), 사랑 (distinguished from the Korean relational-attachment concept 정), and 교통하심 (a liturgical variant of 교제, fellowship) — must be rendered with full accuracy and kept perfectly consistent with every other recurrence across curriculum materials; congregational familiarity makes any deviation immediately noticeable and doctrinally consequential. | Human theologian |

Every chapter of 2 Corinthians has been reviewed against the full doctrine set. No chapter was silently omitted; each contributes at least one doctrinally load-bearing passage, consistent with the density of theological argument characteristic of this epistle relative to Romans.
This document must be loaded alongside translation_memory.json, bible_term_registry.json, and doctrine_risk_registry.json before any Phase 2 segment translation for 2 Corinthians begins. It supersedes no baseline Romans doctrine framing; it extends it.
Critical Risk Doctrines
Reconciliation with God
Korean name: 하나님과의 화목
Key terms: reconciliation, not_imputing_trespasses, word_of_reconciliation, ambassador
Review routing: Human theologian
화목 is also an everyday secular Korean word for family/social harmony (화목한 가정) and risks collapsing God’s one-directional, once-for-all, Christ-accomplished reconciliation into mutual-effort harmony-restoration, or into the ongoing ancestral-rite appeasement logic of jesa (제사), which requires continual ritual maintenance to keep ancestors/spirits favorable — the same instrumental logic already flagged Critical under ‘father’/‘adoption’ in the Romans baseline. The imperative ‘be reconciled to God’ (5:20) must be taught as receiving, not achieving or negotiating, an already-completed divine act.
New Creation in Christ
Korean name: 그리스도 안에서의 새로운 피조물
Key terms: new_creation, old_and_new_things, christian_identity_in_christ
Review routing: Human theologian
새로운 피조물 sits at the convergence of three live Korean collision risks: Buddhist rebirth/reincarnation (환생, 윤회) — new creation is not a new life-cycle iteration; Buddhist/Daoist self-cultivation transformation (수행, 도 닦기) — it is God’s act received by faith, not self-attained; and shamanistic fortune-reset rituals (액땜, 살풀이) performed for a ‘fresh start’ — it is a moral-spiritual reality grounded in Christ’s finished work, not a ritual reset of fortune.
Generosity and Grace in Giving
Korean name: 은혜로 말미암은 관대한 헌금
Key terms: generosity, grace, the_collection, sow_and_reap, cheerful_giver, became_poor
Review routing: Human theologian
This doctrine directly parallels the baseline’s Critical-risk treatment of grace (은혜): Korean religious giving culture includes Buddhist temple almsgiving (시주, believed to generate merit) and shamanistic ritual fees (굿값) paid to secure a mudang’s blessing — the same 기복신앙 transactional pattern. Giving in 2 Corinthians 8-9 must be taught as a grace-produced, non-transactional overflow of joy, explicitly not a merit-earning offering or a fee purchasing divine favor, and the ‘sow and reap’ language (9:6) must be distinguished from the impersonal karmic proverb ‘뿌린 대로 거둔다.‘
Power in Weakness
Korean name: 약함 속에 나타나는 능력
Key terms: power_of_god, jars_of_clay, thorn_in_the_flesh, power_perfected_in_weakness
Review routing: Human theologian
Extends the baseline’s Critical-risk guard on 능력 (NEVER 영력, a shaman’s spirit-power sought for healing/blessing/display): Korean charismatic and shamanistic paradigms alike generally seek power to overcome or remove weakness/affliction, while 12:9’s doctrine is the theological inverse — God’s power is most fully displayed IN, not instead of, unresolved weakness. The thorn in the flesh (육체의 가시) is not removed through ritual means (푸닥거리, 살풀이) as folk belief regarding ancestral curse would expect, but is answered with sufficient grace; this paradox must never be softened toward a ‘power overcomes weakness’ reading.
Trinitarian Benediction
Korean name: 삼위일체 축도
Key terms: trinitarian_benediction, grace, love_of_christ, fellowship
Review routing: Human theologian
This closing benediction names all three persons of the Trinity by their distinctive relational gift and is among the most widely used liturgical formulas in Korean church life (교회의 축도); every element — 은혜 (Critical baseline term), 사랑 (distinguished from 정), and 교통하심 (a variant rendering of 교제, fellowship) — must be rendered with full accuracy and kept consistent with every other recurrence across curriculum materials, since congregational familiarity makes any deviation immediately noticeable and doctrinally consequential.
High Risk Doctrines
Suffering and Comfort in Ministry
Korean name: 사역 중의 고난과 위로
Key terms: comfort, affliction, death_and_life_of_jesus, jars_of_clay, thorn_in_the_flesh
Review routing: Human theologian
Korean folk belief commonly attributes chronic hardship to impersonal bad luck (액운) or ancestral curse (조상의 한) addressed through ritual reversal (굿, 살풀이); this doctrine must be taught as God-permitted, meaningful suffering that becomes the occasion for God’s personal comfort, which is then relayed by the sufferer to comfort others — never a misfortune to be ritually removed.
The New Covenant versus the Old
Korean name: 새 언약과 옛 언약
Key terms: letter_and_spirit, veil, covenant, glory, transformed
Review routing: Human theologian
Korean cleanly distinguishes 언약 (covenant) from 계약 (contract), an asset carried from the Romans baseline; the acute risk here is the bare noun 영 (without the 성 prefix) legitimately used by the KRV in 3:6, 17-18 for the Holy Spirit — every such occurrence must be explicitly glossed as the Holy Spirit in Phase 2 materials so it is never read as a generic or shamanistic spirit (신령), and the transformation motif (변화하다) must be distinguished from Daoist immortal-attainment (신선) or Buddhist enlightenment.
Sincerity and Apostolic Authority
Korean name: 진실함과 사도의 권위
Key terms: sincerity, outward_appearance_and_heart, peddling_the_word, ambassador, persuade
Review routing: Human theologian
Korea’s 체면 (chemyeon, face/social-standing) culture makes performative, face-preserving sincerity the social default; biblical sincerity requires transparency before God regardless of social cost. Peddling the word for profit (말씀을 혼잡하게 하다) has direct, self-critical resonance with contemporary Korean prosperity-gospel commercialization and the 기복신앙 pattern already flagged Critical under grace in the Romans baseline.
Genuine versus False Apostleship
Korean name: 참 사도와 거짓 사도
Key terms: false_apostles, super_apostles, disguise_as_angel_of_light, signs_of_an_apostle, boasting
Review routing: Human theologian
거짓 사도 carries acute contemporary resonance with Korean new religious movements and self-declared ‘second coming’/messianic cult leaders, a well-documented pastoral concern; Paul’s discernment criteria (self-promotion, financial exploitation, distorted gospel, claimed extraordinary authority) should be taught as directly applicable to this Korean context, and the ironic label ‘지극히 크다는 사도들’ must be preserved as sarcasm, not honor.
Assurance via the Spirit’s Seal and Guarantee
Korean name: 성령의 인치심과 보증을 통한 확신
Key terms: seal, guarantee_of_the_spirit, earthly_tent_and_heavenly_house
Review routing: Human theologian
인치다 (sealed) and 보증 (guarantee) both risk collision with the Korean amulet/talisman practice (부적), a paper charm believed to seal in luck or ward off misfortune sold by shamans or folk-Buddhist temples; assurance here must be taught as the Spirit’s personal, relational down payment of a certain future with God, received by faith, not a magical ownership-charm or security token.
Godly Sorrow and Repentance
Korean name: 하나님의 뜻대로 하는 근심과 회개
Key terms: godly_sorrow_and_worldly_sorrow, repentance
Review routing: Human theologian
Korea’s strong 체면 (chemyeon) face-culture produces shame over loss of social standing that can closely mimic godly sorrow while remaining merely worldly sorrow; and 회개 (repentance) must never be rendered or taught as 참회, the Buddhist ritual confession/penance practice aimed at purifying karma. Repentance is a Spirit-produced reorientation toward God flowing from grace, not a ritual karma-purification act or mere face-motivated shame.
Church as God’s Temple
Korean name: 하나님의 성전인 교회
Key terms: temple_of_the_living_god, set_apart_from_compromise, fellowship
Review routing: Human theologian
하나님의 성전 must never be rendered or taught with resonance to a shamanistic village shrine (당집), a Buddhist temple (절), or especially the Confucian ancestral shrine (사당, sadang) that houses ancestor tablets for jesa rites — the same instrumental, ritual-maintenance logic already flagged Critical under ‘father’ in the Romans baseline. The church is the Spirit-indwelt community of living believers, not a location requiring ongoing ritual devotion.
The Boasting Paradox
Korean name: 역설적 자랑
Key terms: boasting, meekness_and_gentleness, power_perfected_in_weakness
Review routing: Human theologian
Korea’s intensely credential-and-status-conscious culture (학벌, 스펙, 출세) normalizes self-commending boasting as a standard social practice; Paul’s paradoxical ‘boasting in weakness’ directly confronts this cultural default and must be translated and taught with its full subversive force intact, resisting any softening into a generic humility platitude.
The Judgment Seat of Christ
Korean name: 그리스도의 심판대
Key terms: judgment_seat_of_christ, fear_of_the_lord
Review routing: Human theologian
심판대 risks collision with Korean folk-Buddhist concepts of karmic accounting (인과응보) and judgment before the ten kings of the underworld (시왕); this must be taught as Christ’s own evaluation of an already-secure, saved believer’s life for reward or loss — not a karmic ledger determining one’s afterlife destination, since salvation itself is not at stake at the bema.
Christian Identity in Christ
Korean name: 그리스도 안에서의 신자의 정체성
Key terms: love_of_christ, new_creation, according_to_the_flesh
Review routing: Human theologian
Reused from the Romans baseline doctrine of the same name: identity is located in union with Christ, not in clan/lineage status, social achievement (출세), or ritual loyalty performance; 2 Corinthians 5 grounds this identity specifically in Christ’s representative death and resurrection (5:14-15) and its result, new creation (5:17).
Medium Risk Doctrines
Forgiveness and Restoration in the Church
Korean name: 교회 안에서의 용서와 회복
Key terms: forgive, comfort, grace
Review routing: Native speaker review
용서 (forgive), sharing a root with the Critical-risk 은혜 (grace), must be taught as grace-grounded release from a wrong rather than a face-saving social reconciliation performed merely to restore group harmony (체면) without addressing the underlying grace transaction.
Low Risk Doctrines
Thanksgiving and Gratitude
Korean name: 감사
Key terms: thanksgiving, indescribable_gift
Review routing: Automated review
Standard established term (감사); minor risk of generic secular gratitude without reference to God specifically, consistent with the baseline’s Low-risk treatment.
