Welcome to the Library

What is this?

The Library publishes the doctrine-aware translation research behind tri-bible.ai, one language and book at a time — free to read and reuse.

How to navigate

Pick a language, then a book, in the sidebar. Each book has a Doctrine Analysis, a Core Glossary, and, for the language as a whole, a Comparative Theology and Regional Analysis. Use the search icon in the top nav to jump straight to a term or doctrine instead of browsing.

What the risk tiers mean

Every doctrine and glossary term is labeled with how easily it could be misread or mistranslated in that language's own cultural and religious context:

Critical
A wrong word choice here risks distorting core theology — always reviewed by a theologian before use.
High
A real, well-documented risk of confusion with another tradition or belief system — needs theologian review.
Medium
Worth a native speaker's second look, but not likely to distort the core meaning.
Low
Minor wording nuance — low risk of confusion either way.

Cross-Reference Analysis

09 — Cross-Reference Analysis: 2 Timothy (Korean)

Curriculum: 2 Timothy Core passage: 2 Timothy 3:14–4:5 Method: Every Old Testament quotation and allusion, every messianic reference, every typological pattern, and every parallel to other curricula in this language pipeline (Romans especially, plus Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts, 1 Corinthians, 2 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians as listed in the active 12_ai_translation_requirements.md tag set) is catalogued chapter by chapter. Citations are normalized to the “Book Chapter:Verse” style (e.g. “2 Timothy 3:16”, “Genesis 15:6”); Korean book-name conventions are given in Section A for use in Phase 2 citation rendering.

This file extends, and never contradicts, the baseline Romans translation_memory.json and doctrine_risk_registry.json, and defers to 07_semantic_analysis.md / 08_core_glossary.md of this curriculum for term-level rulings.

Section A — Citation and Book-Name Conventions

Per the baseline’s Cross-Reference Preservation Rules, citations must remain in standard Korean Bible format (Arabic numerals, Korean book name, no “Romans”-style English retained). The following book names, used in this file’s cross-references, must be rendered consistently in Phase 2 output:

Rule: All cross-references in Phase 2 output must use the Korean book name plus Arabic-numeral chapter:verse (e.g. 로마서 1:3), matching baseline convention. English-style citations (as used within this analysis document for the pipeline’s internal cross-referencing) are for translator/reviewer use only and must never leak into destination-language output.

Section B — Cross-Reference Matrix, Chapter by Chapter

Columns: Passage (2 Timothy) | Theme/Doctrine | Related Character | OT/NT Connection | Translation Sensitivity

Chapter 1

PassageTheme/DoctrineRelated CharacterOT/NT ConnectionTranslation Sensitivity
2 Timothy 1:3Faithful Transmission of the GospelPaul, his forefathersAllusion: continuity of worship “as did my forefathers” — echoes the patriarchal worship pattern (Genesis 12:8, Abraham calling on the name of the LORD) and the generational faith-transmission ideal of Deuteronomy 6:6-7High — 조상 (forefathers) directly risks collision with Korean ancestor-memorial rites (제사, jesa); the connection must be taught as continuity of worshipping the same God across generations, never as validating ancestor veneration. See 07_semantic_analysis.md progonoi entry
2 Timothy 1:5Faithful Transmission of the GospelLois, Eunice, TimothyAllusion: household faith transmission pattern also seen in Deuteronomy 6:6-9 and Psalm 78:5-7 (“that the next generation might know them… and rise up and tell them to their children”)Medium — retain the positive, non-ancestor-ritual sense of generational faithfulness
2 Timothy 1:6Guarding Sound Doctrine; The Charge to Preach the WordTimothy, PaulTypology: laying on of hands echoes Moses’ commissioning of Joshua (Numbers 27:18-23; Deuteronomy 34:9) — a prophetic/pastoral office transferred with divine authorization, not a magical power-transferHigh — must not be read as a ritual transfer of impersonal spiritual force (see 07’s caution on 영력); the gift (은사) is the Spirit’s own gracious enabling, commissioned through this act
2 Timothy 1:9-10Assurance of Reward; Inspiration/Sufficiency backgroundGod, Christ JesusDirect doctrinal parallel: Romans 8:28-30 (called according to his purpose, foreknown, predestined); Ephesians 1:4 (chosen before the foundation of the world); echoes Isaiah 25:8 (“he will swallow up death forever”) for “abolished death and brought life… to light”Critical — 부르심/부르심을 받은 [REUSE] must retain personal, relational summons (never 팔자/운명, per baseline); 은혜 [REUSE, Critical] “grace… given us in Christ Jesus before the ages began” must retain unearned, non-transactional, pre-temporal character
2 Timothy 1:10Assurance of RewardChrist Jesus (Savior)Direct parallel: 1 Corinthians 15:54-57 (“death is swallowed up in victory”); echoes Isaiah 25:8High — 구주 [NEW, High] must never be conflated with a folk-religious deliverer figure (cf. baseline 미륵 caution under messiah)
2 Timothy 1:12, 1:16Perseverance under SufferingPaulThematic parallel: Romans 1:16 (“not ashamed of the gospel… the power of God for salvation”)Critical — direct verbal/thematic echo of Romans 1:16, a doctrinally load-bearing verse per baseline’s Theological Consistency Rules; the “not ashamed” language and 능력 concept must align with the established Romans rendering pattern
2 Timothy 1:13Guarding Sound DoctrineTimothy, PaulParallel: “the pattern of sound words” anticipates 1 Timothy 6:3, Titus 1:9, 2:1 — establishes 바른 교훈 as a cross-Pastoral-Epistles termHigh — must render identically wherever “sound doctrine/words” recurs across this curriculum family, per 08’s ruling
2 Timothy 1:14Guarding Sound DoctrineHoly Spirit, TimothyParallel: Romans 8:9-11 (the Spirit dwells in believers)Critical — 성령 [REUSE, Critical]; the Spirit’s indwelling enables guarding, must not be framed as spirit-possession (baseline caution)

Chapter 2

PassageTheme/DoctrineRelated CharacterOT/NT ConnectionTranslation Sensitivity
2 Timothy 2:2Faithful Transmission of the GospelPaul, Timothy, “faithful men,” “others also”Allusion: multi-generational transmission pattern of Deuteronomy 6:6-7 and Psalm 78:5-7; direct NT parallel: 1 Corinthians 11:23 (“I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you” — reception/transmission formula); Galatians 1:11-12 (gospel received by revelation, then transmitted)High — the doctrinal anchor verse for Faithful Transmission; the four-generation chain (Paul → Timothy → faithful people → others) must not collapse into a two-step “teacher to student” simplification
2 Timothy 2:3-6Perseverance under Suffering; Assurance of RewardTimothy (soldier/athlete/farmer)Direct parallel: 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 (athletic imagery, “so run that you may obtain it,” disciplined training for an imperishable prize); Ephesians 6:10-17 (soldier/armor imagery)Medium — retain the disciplined-endurance sense shared across these Pauline passages; ensure consistency with any future translation of 1 Corinthians 9 or Ephesians 6 in this pipeline
2 Timothy 2:8Faithful Transmission of the Gospel; (undergirds) Deity/Sonship of ChristJesus Christ, DavidDirect verbatim doctrinal parallel: Romans 1:3-4 (“descended from David according to the flesh… declared to be the Son of God… by his resurrection”) — Davidic covenant fulfillment (2 Samuel 7:12-16)Critical — this is the single most important Romans-parallel verse in 2 Timothy. Must use the baseline’s exact established renderings: 다윗의 혈통 [REUSE, seed_of_david], 부활 [REUSE, resurrection, Critical], 하나님의 아들 [REUSE, son_of_god, Critical]. Any deviation from the Romans 1:3-4 rendering here breaks the baseline’s Theological Consistency Rule requiring identical treatment of shared theological content across documents
2 Timothy 2:11-13Perseverance under Suffering; Assurance of RewardChrist, believersThe “trustworthy saying”: direct parallel to Romans 6:5-8 (“if we have died with him… we shall also live with him,” union-with-Christ death/life pattern); 2:12’s “if we deny him, he also will deny us” echoes Matthew 10:33/Luke 12:9 (Jesus’ teaching on confession/denial before the Father); 2:13’s “he remains faithful” echoes Numbers 23:19 (God is not a man, that he should lie) and God’s covenant faithfulness theme throughout the TorahHigh — 함께 왕 노릇 하리라 (we will reign) must not be read as works-merit but as fruit of persevering faith-union with Christ, consistent with Romans 6 and 8’s grace framework
2 Timothy 2:15Guarding Sound DoctrineTimothyNo direct OT quotation; craftsman/workman metaphor (ὀρθοτομέω) echoes wisdom-literature valuing of skilled, careful labor (cf. Proverbs 22:29)High — must retain careful, disciplined precision in handling Scripture (옳게 분별하다), contrasted with careless/self-serving handling by false teachers
2 Timothy 2:18Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last DaysHymenaeus, PhiletusDirect parallel: 1 Timothy 1:19-20 (Hymenaeus named earlier as one who “made shipwreck of their faith”); doctrinal error concerns bodily resurrection, directly touching 부활 [REUSE, Critical]Critical — the claim “the resurrection has already happened” must be clearly marked as false teaching within the translation (contextually, via the surrounding rebuke), never rendered ambiguously as though endorsed
2 Timothy 2:19Guarding Sound Doctrine; Assurance of RewardDirect OT quotation: “The Lord knows those who are his” quotes/echoes Numbers 16:5 (in the Korah rebellion, “the LORD will show who is his”); “Let everyone who names the name of the Lord depart from iniquity” echoes Isaiah 52:11 (“depart, depart, touch no unclean thing”) and Numbers 16:26High — this is a genuine OT quotation/near-quotation embedded in the text; Phase 2 footnoting should flag the OT source per the baseline’s footnote convention, since God’s foreknowledge of his own people (assurance) is grounded textually in Numbers, not invented ad hoc by Paul
2 Timothy 2:20-21Guarding Sound Doctrine; Sanctification (thematic)Direct doctrinal parallel: Romans 9:21 (“has the potter no right over the clay, to make out of the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for dishonorable use?”) — same vessel-metaphor vocabulary (σκεῦος εἰς τιμήν/ἀτιμίαν); background echoes Jeremiah 18:1-6 and Isaiah 45:9 (potter/clay)High — 귀히 쓰는 그릇/천히 쓰는 그릇 should track the same semantic field the Romans curriculum will use for Romans 9:21’s vessel imagery, for cross-curriculum consistency, even though 2 Timothy’s application (self-purification for usefulness) differs somewhat from Romans 9’s sovereignty emphasis
2 Timothy 2:22Guarding Sound Doctrine (thematic); SanctificationTimothyVirtue-list parallel: Galatians 5:22-23 (fruit of the Spirit); shares 의/믿음/화평 vocabulary with RomansMedium — each component term (의, 믿음, 화평) inherits its own baseline risk profile and must render identically to its Romans usage
2 Timothy 2:26Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last Daysthe devilParallel: 1 Peter 5:8 (the devil as adversary); Genesis 3 (serpent/deceiver background)Medium — 마귀 as a personal being, not one impersonal evil force among many in a folk-spiritual pantheon

Chapter 3 (vv. 1–13; vv. 14–17 in core passage below)

PassageTheme/DoctrineRelated CharacterOT/NT ConnectionTranslation Sensitivity
2 Timothy 3:1-5Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last DaysDirect doctrinal parallel: Romans 1:29-31 (a strikingly similar vice catalogue: “filled with all manner of unrighteousness… envy, murder, strife, deceit… slanderers… haters of God… disobedient to parents… foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless”)High — the two vice lists (Romans 1 and 2 Timothy 3) should use consistent Korean vocabulary for shared vice terms (e.g., 교만/자랑/배은망덕 등) where the underlying Greek term is the same or a close synonym, supporting the baseline’s cross-document consistency rule
2 Timothy 3:5Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last DaysThematic contrast with Romans 1:16, 1:20 (true knowledge/power of God vs. suppressed truth); also anticipates Titus 1:16 (“they profess to know God, but they deny him by their works”)Critical — 경건의 능력 (power of godliness) reuses 능력 [REUSE, Critical]; must not be read as encouraging a search for more visible/demonstrable spiritual power (기복신앙/영력 risk)
2 Timothy 3:8Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last DaysJannes, Jambres, MosesDirect typological/historical allusion: Exodus 7:11, 7:22 (Pharaoh’s magicians who opposed Moses, unnamed in Exodus itself; “Jannes and Jambres” is a name-tradition preserved in later Jewish sources, e.g., Targum Pseudo-Jonathan, and evidently known to Paul’s readers)Low — proper names, transliterate only (얀네와 얌브레); no rendering ambiguity, but a brief translator’s note on the Exodus 7 background is recommended for teaching context
2 Timothy 3:10-11Perseverance under SufferingPaul, TimothyDirect historical parallel: Acts 13:50-51 (Antioch), Acts 14:2-6 (Iconium), Acts 14:19-20 (Lystra) — Paul explicitly recalls his own persecutions from Timothy’s home region during the first missionary journeyHigh — this is a genuine historical cross-reference to Acts; Phase 2 rendering should preserve the specificity of the three named cities as concrete, remembered events, not generic suffering-language
2 Timothy 3:12Perseverance under SufferingThematic parallel: Matthew 5:10-12 (persecution for righteousness’ sake), John 15:20 (“if they persecuted me, they will also persecute you”); universality parallel to Romans 3:23, 10:12-13 (all/no distinction)High — must retain the universal “all” (πάντες) — “all who desire to live godly… will be persecuted” — paralleling the baseline’s caution to preserve universality claims exactly as it does for Romans’ “all have sinned” and “everyone who calls”

Core Passage — 2 Timothy 3:14–4:5

PassageTheme/DoctrineRelated CharacterOT/NT ConnectionTranslation Sensitivity
2 Timothy 3:15Inspiration and Sufficiency of ScriptureTimothyReferences “the sacred writings” known “from childhood” — the OT Scriptures as a body, paralleled by Luke 24:27, 44-45 (Christ opening the Scriptures) and Acts 17:11 (Bereans examining the Scriptures)High — 성경 must retain unique divine authority, distinct from any generic multi-tradition “sacred text” category
2 Timothy 3:16Inspiration and Sufficiency of ScriptureFoundational doctrinal statement; parallel: 2 Peter 1:20-21 (“no prophecy… was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit”) — the NT’s other major direct statement on inspirationCritical — 하나님의 감동으로 된 [NEW, Critical]; this and 2 Peter 1:21 together form the core canonical basis for the doctrine and should be cross-taught; must not be rendered with any language suggesting a repeatable mystical/artistic inspiration event
2 Timothy 3:17Inspiration and Sufficiency of Scripture”the man of God”Typological title: “man of God” (ὁ τοῦ θεοῦ ἄνθρωπος) directly echoes the OT office-title applied to Moses (Deuteronomy 33:1), Samuel (1 Samuel 9:6), David (Nehemiah 12:24), and especially Elijah (1 Kings 17:18, 24) — Timothy (and every minister) is placed typologically in this line of God’s authorized servantsMedium — 하나님의 사람 should retain this OT office-echo rather than reading as a generic “godly person”; a brief cross-reference note is recommended for teaching
2 Timothy 4:1The Charge to Preach the Word; Assurance of RewardChrist Jesus”Judge of the living and the dead” — direct parallel: Acts 10:42 (Peter’s preaching, “he is the one appointed by God to be judge of the living and the dead”), 1 Peter 4:5; background: Psalm 96:13, Daniel 7:9-10, 13-14 (the Ancient of Days and the Son of Man’s judgment/kingdom)High — Christ as the personal judge, continuous with Daniel’s Son of Man imagery; not an impersonal karmic reckoning
2 Timothy 4:1The Charge to Preach the WordChrist Jesusἐπιφάνεια (appearing) and βασιλεία (kingdom) together echo Daniel 7:13-14’s coming-with-the-clouds/everlasting-kingdom imagery, and parallel 1 Corinthians 15:24-25 (the kingdom handed over after all enemies are destroyed)High — 나타나심 [NEW, High]; distinct from 성육신 [REUSE] (the past incarnation); this is the future, visible, bodily return
2 Timothy 4:2The Charge to Preach the WordTimothyDirect parallel: 2 Timothy 1:8, 1:11-12 (Paul’s own preaching commission); Romans 10:14-15 (“how are they to hear without someone preaching?… as it is written, ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!’” — quoting Isaiah 52:7); Titus 1:3High — 전파하다 [NEW, High]; Romans 10:15’s quotation of Isaiah 52:7 is the closest OT-grounding parallel for the concept of authorized, sent proclamation; this connection should be surfaced in teaching materials even though 2 Timothy 4:2 itself is not a direct OT quotation
2 Timothy 4:3-4Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last DaysParallel: 1 Timothy 4:1 (“in later times some will depart from the faith, devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons”); Matthew 24:11 (“many false prophets will arise and lead many astray”)High — 신화/허탄한 이야기 [NEW, High] must remain generic fabricated-narrative language; never single out specific Korean traditional narratives
2 Timothy 4:5The Charge to Preach the Word; Perseverance under SufferingTimothyParallel: Acts 21:8 (Philip “the evangelist”); Ephesians 4:11 (evangelists listed among Christ’s gifts to the church)High — 전도자 [NEW, High] shares root with 복음 [REUSE]; retain baseline’s caution against a blessing-forecast reading of gospel proclamation

Chapter 4 (vv. 6–22)

PassageTheme/DoctrineRelated CharacterOT/NT ConnectionTranslation Sensitivity
2 Timothy 4:6Assurance of Reward; Perseverance under SufferingPaulSacrificial libation imagery: background in Numbers 15:5-10 (drink offerings accompanying OT sacrifices); direct Pauline self-parallel: Philippians 2:17 (“even if I am to be poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrificial offering of your faith”)Medium — 전제 (drink offering) must retain reference specifically to OT/Levitical sacrificial worship of God, not Confucian ancestral-rite libation vocabulary (also sometimes called 전제/제사 in secular Korean usage)
2 Timothy 4:7Assurance of Reward; Perseverance under SufferingPaulDirect parallel: 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 (athletic imagery); Philippians 3:12-14 (“I press on toward the goal… the prize of the upward call”); Acts 20:24 (“finish my course”)Medium — links thematically to 2 Timothy 2:5’s athletic imagery; render consistently
2 Timothy 4:8Assurance of RewardChrist (the righteous Judge)“Crown of righteousness” parallels 1 Corinthians 9:25 (imperishable wreath), James 1:12 (crown of life), 1 Peter 5:4 (unfading crown of glory), Revelation 2:10 (crown of life) — a consistent NT crown-reward motif; “the righteous Judge” echoes Genesis 18:25 (“Shall not the Judge of all the earth do what is just?”) and Psalm 7:11Critical — 의의 면류관 [NEW, Critical]; must be taught as a gracious, future, Christ-awarded reward for persevering faith, harmonized with the other NT “crown” passages rather than treated as a uniquely Pauline achievement-badge; 의로우신 재판장 inherits the 의/의리 caution
2 Timothy 4:8Assurance of Rewardall believersUniversality parallel: “to all who have loved his appearing” echoes the same all-inclusive scope principle as Romans 10:12-13Medium — retain universal “all,” consistent with baseline’s universality-preservation rule
2 Timothy 4:10Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days (cautionary counter-example)DemasParallel: 1 John 2:15 (“do not love the world or the things in the world”)Medium — 이 세상을 사랑하여 should echo 1 John 2:15’s love-of-world contrast if that curriculum is later added to this pipeline
2 Timothy 4:11Faithful Transmission of the Gospel (historical)Luke, MarkHistorical parallel: Acts 15:37-39 (Mark’s earlier departure from Paul and Barnabas, and the sharp disagreement over him) — 2 Timothy 4:11 shows reconciliation/restorationLow — historical/biographical note; low doctrinal risk but valuable for teaching continuity with Acts
2 Timothy 4:14Assurance of Reward (negative counterpart); Guarding Sound DoctrineAlexander the coppersmithDirect doctrinal parallel: Romans 2:6 (“He will render to each one according to his works”) — also Psalm 62:12, Proverbs 24:12High — “the Lord will repay him according to his deeds” must use the same repayment/recompense vocabulary pattern established for Romans 2:6 in this language pipeline, for cross-document consistency
2 Timothy 4:16-17Perseverance under Suffering; Assurance of RewardPaul”At my first defense no one stood by me” echoes the abandonment pattern of Psalm 22:1, 22:11 (“none to help”); “I was rescued from the lion’s mouth” is a direct allusion to Daniel 6:20-23 (Daniel’s deliverance from the lions)High — 건지시다 (rescued) should carry the same personal-deliverance force as the Daniel 6 narrative and Psalm 22’s vindication motif; distinct from, but pointing toward, 구원
2 Timothy 4:17The Charge to Preach the Word; Mission (thematic)PaulParallel: Romans 15:16-21 (Paul’s mission to fully proclaim the gospel among the Gentiles); “all the Gentiles might hear” echoes Romans 1:5 (“to bring about the obedience of faith for the sake of his name among all the nations”)High — 믿음의 순종 [REUSE, obedience_of_faith] and 이방인 [REUSE, gentiles] both apply; retain the same non-ethnic-nationalist universality the baseline requires for Romans
2 Timothy 4:18Assurance of Rewardthe Lord”Rescue me from every evil deed and bring me safely into his heavenly kingdom” echoes Matthew 6:13 (Lord’s Prayer, “deliver us from evil”) and Psalm 121:7-8Low — 하늘에 있는 그의 나라 parallels 하나님의 나라 [REUSE]; comparatively low collision risk per baseline
2 Timothy 4:18Assurance of RewardChristClosing doxology “to whom be the glory forever and ever, Amen” — standard NT doxology form, cf. Romans 11:36, 16:27, Galatians 1:5, Ephesians 3:21Low — 영광 [REUSE] reused in its established doxological form
2 Timothy 4:22(closing benediction)“Grace be with you” — standard Pauline closing, cf. Romans 16:20, Galatians 6:18, Ephesians 6:24Critical (inherited) — 은혜 [REUSE, Critical]; must never be read as a transactional 기복신앙 exchange, even in this brief closing formula

Section C — Messianic References and Typology

ReferenceTypeConnectionTranslation Sensitivity
2 Timothy 2:8 (“descended from David… Son of God… by his resurrection”)Direct messianic/Davidic fulfillmentFulfills 2 Samuel 7:12-16 (Davidic covenant); identical doctrinal content to Romans 1:3-4Critical — must match Romans 1:3-4’s established renderings exactly (다윗의 혈통, 하나님의 아들, 부활)
2 Timothy 3:17 (“the man of God”)Typological office-titleApplied to Moses (Deuteronomy 33:1), Samuel (1 Samuel 9:6), Elijah (1 Kings 17:18, 24), and now Timothy — a pastoral-prophetic office in continuity with the OT servant-of-God patternMedium — retain OT office-echo, 하나님의 사람
2 Timothy 1:6 (laying on of hands)Typological commissioning patternMoses → Joshua (Numbers 27:18-23; Deuteronomy 34:9) prefigures Paul → Timothy as a pattern of authorized succession in God’s serviceHigh — a commissioning act accompanying, not causing, the Spirit’s gracious gift; not a magical power-transfer
2 Timothy 4:6-8 (Paul’s approaching death, “finished the course,” awaiting the crown)Typological pattern of the faithful servant’s completed raceEchoes Moses viewing but not entering the Promised Land after faithful service (Deuteronomy 34:1-5) and Elijah’s mantle passing to Elisha (2 Kings 2:9-14) — faithful leaders complete their portion, and the mission continues through a successor (here, Timothy)High — frames Paul’s death not as failure or divine disfavor but as the fitting completion of a course begun; guards against reading suffering/death near the end of ministry as loss of God’s blessing (기복신앙 caution)
2 Timothy 4:1, 4:8 (Christ as Judge, Christ’s appearing)Direct messianic/eschatological referenceFulfills Daniel 7:13-14 (Son of Man given dominion and an everlasting kingdom) and grounds Acts 10:42/1 Peter 4:5’s judge-of-the-living-and-the-dead confessionCritical — Christ’s judgeship and future appearing must remain tied to the same unique divine Son as 하나님의 아들 [REUSE] and 성육신 [REUSE]; never a repeatable avatar-appearance
2 Timothy 1:10 (“abolished death, brought life and immortality to light”)Christological fulfillmentFulfills Isaiah 25:8 (“he will swallow up death forever”)High — anchor to the historical, bodily resurrection (부활), not to a philosophical immortality-of-the-soul concept

Section D — Parallels to Other Curricula in This Language Pipeline

The baseline package and the active 12_ai_translation_requirements.md extend across Romans, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts, 1 Corinthians, 2 Corinthians, Galatians, and Ephesians. The following table records where 2 Timothy shares vocabulary, quotations, or doctrinal content with these curricula, so that Phase 2 rendering remains fully consistent whenever a shared reference is translated.

2 Timothy passageParallel curriculum passageShared contentRendering-consistency requirement
2 Timothy 2:8Romans 1:3-4Davidic descent, Sonship, resurrectionMUST use identical Korean renderings: 다윗의 혈통, 하나님의 아들, 부활
2 Timothy 3:1-5Romans 1:29-31Last-days/fallen-humanity vice catalogueShared vice terms (e.g., 교만, 자랑, 배은망덕, 무정함) should use the same Korean equivalents in both books where the underlying Greek term matches or is a close synonym
2 Timothy 2:11-13Romans 6:5-8Died-with-Christ / live-with-Christ union theologyThe “if we have died with him, we will also live with him” formula should echo Romans 6’s established 함께 죽고 함께 산다 pattern if/when translated in this pipeline
2 Timothy 2:20-21Romans 9:21Potter/vessel-of-honor-and-dishonor imagery귀히 쓰는 그릇 / 천히 쓰는 그릇 vocabulary should be shared across both books
2 Timothy 4:14Romans 2:6”Repay/render according to deeds”Shared recompense-vocabulary; must not be rendered as strict wage-for-labor payment in either book, consistent with the grace framework
2 Timothy 4:17Romans 1:5, 15:16-21Obedience of faith / mission to all nations믿음의 순종 [REUSE] and 이방인 [REUSE] must retain identical baseline renderings and universality framing
2 Timothy 1:8, 1:12, 1:16Romans 1:16”Not ashamed” of the gospel/testimony부끄러워하지 아니하다 should echo Romans 1:16’s established phrasing
2 Timothy 2:3-61 Corinthians 9:24-27Athletic/disciplined-training imagery for rewardShared 경기/상 (race/prize) vocabulary; ensure consistency if 1 Corinthians 9 is rendered in this pipeline
2 Timothy 2:3-6Ephesians 6:10-17Soldier imageryShared 군사/병사 (soldier) vocabulary
2 Timothy 2:2Galatians 1:11-12Gospel received/transmitted, not of human originBoth passages ground the authority of transmitted doctrine in its ultimate divine source, not in human innovation
2 Timothy 2:21 Corinthians 11:23”Received… delivered” transmission formulaSame reception/transmission verb-pair pattern (받다/전하다) should be used consistently
2 Timothy 3:10-11Acts 13:50-51; 14:2-6; 14:19-20Historical persecutions at Antioch, Iconium, LystraThese three city names must transliterate identically to their established Acts renderings (안디옥, 이고니온, 루스드라) when Acts is translated in this pipeline
2 Timothy 4:11Acts 15:37-39Mark’s earlier departure and later restoration마가 (Mark) transliteration must match Acts usage
2 Timothy 4:6Philippians 2:17Paul’s self-description as a poured-out drink offeringShared 전제 (drink offering) vocabulary, if Philippians is added to this pipeline
2 Timothy 4:1Acts 10:42; 1 Peter 4:5”Judge of the living and the dead”Shared 산 자와 죽은 자를 심판하실 phrase, for future consistency if these books are added

Section E — Rendering-Consistency Rules for Shared Quotations

  1. Romans 1:3-4 ↔ 2 Timothy 2:8: These verses share identical theological content (Davidic descent, declared Sonship, resurrection). The Korean rendering of 2 Timothy 2:8 MUST use the exact baseline terms 다윗의 혈통, 하나님의 아들, and 부활 with no paraphrase drift. This is the single highest-priority cross-reference consistency rule in this curriculum.

  2. Vice lists (Romans 1:29-31 ↔ 2 Timothy 3:2-5): Where the same Greek vice-term or a recognized synonym appears in both lists, the same Korean equivalent must be used in both books. A translator’s cross-reference table mapping each of the ~19 terms in 2 Timothy 3:2-4 to its nearest Romans 1:29-31 equivalent (where one exists) should be prepared before Phase 2 translation of either book.

  3. Vessel imagery (Romans 9:21 ↔ 2 Timothy 2:20-21): 귀히 쓰는 그릇 / 천히 쓰는 그릇 must be used identically in both books despite the differing rhetorical function (sovereignty argument in Romans; sanctification exhortation in 2 Timothy).

  4. Recompense language (Romans 2:6 ↔ 2 Timothy 4:14): The verb-phrase for “repay/render according to deeds” must be shared across both books, and must in both cases avoid suggesting salvation is earned by works — the recompense in view is God’s just governance of moral accounts, operating within (not against) the grace framework.

  5. “Not ashamed” (Romans 1:16 ↔ 2 Timothy 1:8, 1:12, 1:16): 부끄러워하다 negated must track Romans 1:16’s established phrase, since this curriculum’s 12_ai_translation_requirements.md names Romans 1:16-17 as a thesis-statement verse requiring identical rendering across all documents; 2 Timothy’s three echoes of this phrase should visibly connect to that established rendering.

  6. Universality formulas (“all who…” / “everyone who…”) in 2 Timothy 3:12 and 4:8 must be preserved without qualification or softening, exactly as the baseline requires for Romans 3:23 and 10:12-13. No translation may introduce an implicit exception clause.

  7. OT quotations embedded without formal citation markers (2 Timothy 2:19’s echo of Numbers 16:5 and Isaiah 52:11) should receive a translator’s note flagging the OT source for reviewer awareness, per the baseline’s footnote convention, even though Paul does not use an explicit “as it is written” formula at this point.

  8. Proper names shared with Acts (Antioch/안디옥, Iconium/이고니온, Lystra/루스드라, Mark/마가) must use the same transliteration this pipeline will assign when Acts is translated, established now for forward consistency.

This analysis extends, and in every case of overlap defers to, 07_semantic_analysis.md and 08_core_glossary.md for this curriculum, and to the baseline Romans translation_memory.json / doctrine_risk_registry.json. No baseline or curriculum-specific rendering is altered here; this file records cross-reference and consistency obligations only.
