Doctrine Analysis
11 Doctrine Analysis — Acts 1–28 (Full-Book Doctrine Matrix)
Purpose
This document provides the complete, chapter-by-chapter doctrine matrix for the book of Acts, required by PRD Phase 1 Step 4/5. Every chapter of Acts is reviewed in canonical order. The core passage, Acts 2:1–41 (Pentecost and Peter’s sermon), is the theological anchor of the curriculum but not the boundary of analysis — all 28 chapters are covered. Chapters that do not introduce a new doctrine are explicitly marked “reviewed, no new doctrine” and cross-referenced to the doctrine(s) they continue.
All doctrine names, risk tiers, and review-routing assignments below are drawn directly from assets/doctrine_risk_registry.json and must not be altered here. This document adds chapter-level granularity and translation-risk reasoning; it does not redefine risk.
Review routing key: Human theologian (Critical/High) · Native speaker review (Medium) · Automated review (Low)
Acts 1 — Ascension, Waiting for the Spirit, Reconstituted Apostleship
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Great Commission and Mission to the Nations | 1:8 | Medium | 1:8’s Jerusalem→Judea→Samaria→ends-of-the-earth structure frames the entire book; သာသနာပြု vocabulary must be flagged from its very first structural occurrence. | Native speaker review |
| Holy Spirit and Pentecost (anticipatory) | 1:5, 1:8 | Critical | The promise of Spirit-baptism must not be conflated with a future date on a repeating ritual calendar; sets up ch. 2. | Human theologian |
| Apostleship | 1:13, 1:21-26 | Medium | Reconstitution of the Twelve (Matthias) establishes a bounded, defined office, not an open guru-style teaching rank. | Native speaker review |
| Providence | 1:16, 1:24-26 (casting lots) | High | Casting lots for Matthias must be distinguished from divination/astrology (ဗေဒင်) condemned elsewhere in Acts; it is submission to God’s prior sovereign choice, not chance-seeking. | Human theologian |
| Ascension (background Christology, see resurrection_of_christ cluster) | 1:9-11 | Critical (inherited from resurrection_of_christ/deity_of_christ) | Bodily, visible, historical departure witnessed by many; must not be read as apotheosis or a stage within a chain of rebirths. | Human theologian |
Acts 2 — CORE PASSAGE: Pentecost and Peter’s Sermon (2:1–41)
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Holy Spirit and Pentecost | 2:1-4, 2:17-18, 2:33, 2:38-39 | Critical | The theological anchor doctrine of the entire curriculum; a fixed, one-time covenant-historical event, never the cyclical Buddhist festival/full-moon calendar nor nat-kadaw trance possession. | Human theologian |
| Spirit-Filling as Personal Empowerment | 2:4 | Critical | Must never be illustrated in a way mapping onto နတ်ဝင်ခြင်း (nat possession, which displaces the medium’s own consciousness); Spirit-filling increases the believer’s own faculties, never displaces personal agency. | Human theologian |
| Speaking in Tongues at Pentecost | 2:4, 2:6, 2:8, 2:11 | Critical | Must be explicit real, known human languages understood by hearers — sharply distinct from unintelligible ecstatic/altered-voice speech recognized in Burmese spirit-mediumship trance practice. | Human theologian |
| Fulfillment of Prophecy | 2:16-21 (Joel citation) | High | Linear, one-time historical fulfillment of a named OT prophecy, not a repeating world-age (ကမ္ဘာ) cycle. | Human theologian |
| Messianic Promise | 2:31, 2:36 | Critical | Peter’s climactic identification of Jesus as the promised Messiah must never be conflated with Metteyya (မိတ္တေယျ) expectation. | Human theologian |
| Resurrection of Christ | 2:24, 2:31-32 | Critical | ထမြောက်ခြင်း only; never ပဋိသန္ဓေတည်ခြင်း (rebirth). Central plank of Peter’s sermon. | Human theologian |
| Deity of Christ / Sonship of Christ | 2:33-36 | Critical | Christ’s exaltation to God’s right hand is unique divine enthronement, not a merit-attained Brahma-realm ascent. | Human theologian |
| Lordship of Christ | 2:21, 2:34, 2:36 | Critical | ”Lord and Christ” (2:36) and “call upon the name of the Lord” (2:21) are salvation-defining confessions; exclusive, supreme Lordship, not one venerated teacher among many. | Human theologian |
| Repentance and Baptism | 2:37-38, 2:41 | Critical | Repentance = Spirit-enabled turning of the whole person; baptism distinguished from merit-dedication water-pouring (ရေသွန်းကုသိုလ်ဝေခြင်း) and from a repeatable merit rite. | Human theologian |
| Forgiveness of Sins | 2:38 | Critical | A decisive, complete judicial pardon by a personal God, not a demerit-offsetting merit transfer. | Human theologian |
| The Name of Jesus and Exclusive Salvation | 2:21, 2:38 | Critical | Must not soften into a generic invocation formula against a multi-refuge devotional culture (Buddha, Dhamma, Sangha, the 37 nats). | Human theologian |
| Salvation | 2:21, 2:40, 2:47 | Critical | Never နိဗ္ဗာန်ရောက်ခြင်း; the reflexive “save yourselves” (2:40) must be flagged so as not to imply self-generated deliverance, which would collide with grace. | Human theologian |
| Universal Scope of the Gospel | 2:21, 2:39 | High | ”Everyone who calls” and “all who are far off” must retain unqualified universality despite Myanmar’s Buddhist-majority/ethnic-minority religious dynamics. | Human theologian |
| Divine Calling | 2:39 | High | God’s sovereign call, distinguished from ကံဇာတာ (karma-fixed destiny) and from a revocable invitation. | Human theologian |
| The Church as Community | 2:42-47 | Medium | Devotion to teaching, fellowship, breaking of bread, prayer, and shared possessions form a new-covenant community, not a monastery-centered institution; note 2:47’s non-technical “favor” (χάρις) must NOT use the Critical grace term. | Native speaker review |
| Christian Fellowship | 2:42 | Low | Shared participation in Christ, not mere social bond. | Automated review |
| Mutual Care and Generosity | 2:44-45 | Low | Spirit-motivated love-sharing, distinguished from dana-style merit accumulation. | Automated review |
Acts 3 — Healing of the Lame Man and Peter’s Second Sermon
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Apostolic Authority and Miracles | 3:1-10, 3:12 | High | The healing authenticates the apostolic message by God’s initiative; must not be read as a personal spiritual attainment (cf. iddhi/abhiññā, weizza lore, amulet potency). | Human theologian |
| Deity of Christ (Holy and Righteous One; Author of Life) | 3:14-15 | Critical | Compounds two Critical baseline terms (holy, righteous) into a Christological title; must not be weakened to generic praise. | Human theologian |
| Resurrection of Christ | 3:15, 3:26 | Critical | ထမြောက်ခြင်း; God raised Christ from the dead, contrasted with the crowd’s demand for Barabbas’s release — a real historical, bodily act. | Human theologian |
| Messianic Promise / Fulfillment of Prophecy | 3:18, 3:20-25 | Critical / High | Christ’s suffering and the promised “servant” (pais) are read as exclusive, linear OT fulfillment. | Human theologian |
| Repentance and Baptism (repentance emphasis) | 3:19 | Critical | ”Repent and turn back” tied to forgiveness of sins, not remorse-driven demerit reduction. | Human theologian |
| Forgiveness of Sins | 3:19 | Critical | Decisive divine pardon, not partial karmic ledger adjustment. | Human theologian |
| Fulfillment of Prophecy (restoration of all things) | 3:20-21 | High | Final, linear consummation, not a cyclical world-age turn. | Human theologian |
Acts 4 — Peter and John Before the Council; Prayer for Boldness
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Name of Jesus and Exclusive Salvation (“no other name”) | 4:7, 4:10, 4:12 | Critical | The sharpest exclusivity claim in Acts; must never be softened against a multi-refuge devotional culture. | Human theologian |
| Persecution and Bold Witness | 4:13, 4:19-20, 4:29, 4:31 | High | Spirit-given fearless proclamation before authorities, distinguished from confrontational aggression. | Human theologian |
| Apostolic Authority and Miracles | 4:30, 4:33 | High | Signs continue to authenticate the apostolic witness. | Human theologian |
| Grace | 4:33 | Critical | ”Great grace was upon them all” — must use ကျေးဇူးတော်, never a merit-adjacent term. | Human theologian |
| The Church as Community (common possessions) | 4:32-35 | Medium | Voluntary Spirit-motivated sharing, not dana-style merit-earning giving. | Native speaker review |
Acts 5 — Ananias and Sapphira; Apostles Before the Sanhedrin
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Holy Spirit and Pentecost (Spirit as personal, sinnable-against divine agent) | 5:3, 5:9 | Critical | Lying to/testing the Holy Spirit proves the Spirit is a personal divine agent, not an impersonal force; direct evidence against an impersonal-spirit reading. | Human theologian |
| Apostolic Authority and Miracles | 5:12, 5:15-16 | High | Signs and wonders through the apostles, distinguished from meditative/occult attainment. | Human theologian |
| Spiritual Authority over Evil Spirits | 5:16 | Critical | Evil/unclean spirits are subordinate to and overcome by apostolic authority in Jesus’s name, never appeased or negotiated with. | Human theologian |
| Persecution and Bold Witness | 5:17-42 | High | Imprisonment, flogging, and continued rejoicing model Spirit-given boldness amid real cost. | Human theologian |

| Church Leadership and Governance (deacon/service office) | 6:1-6 | Medium | Spirit-qualified practical service, not a merit-generating patron (kappiya) role or monastic seniority. | Native speaker review |
| Obedience of Faith | 6:7 | High | ”A great many of the priests became obedient to the faith” — obedience flowing from faith, not precept-observance for merit standing. | Human theologian |
| The Holy Spirit and Pentecost (Spirit-filling qualification) | 6:3, 6:5 | Critical | Stephen and the Seven chosen for being “full of the Spirit” — empowerment for service, not trance displacement. | Human theologian |
| The Church as Community (Hellenists, widows) | 6:1 | Medium | Internal ethnic-linguistic diversity and structured care for the vulnerable within the earliest church. | Native speaker review |
Acts 7 — Stephen’s Speech and Martyrdom
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fulfillment of Prophecy | 7:2-53 (historical survey) | High | Stephen’s speech is a sustained linear historical argument from OT Scripture to Christ; must not be flattened into disconnected proof-texts. | Human theologian |
| Confrontation with Idolatry | 7:41 (golden calf) | Critical | Extremely high cultural sensitivity given Buddha-image veneration; the point that a crafted image is not divine must be preserved without gratuitous offense. | Human theologian |
| Deity of Christ / Sonship of Christ (Son of Man) | 7:55-56 | Critical | Stephen’s vision of the Son of Man at God’s right hand; must not be flattened to a generic “a human being.” | Human theologian |
| Persecution and Bold Witness | 7:54-60 | High | First Christian martyrdom; Stephen’s prayer for his killers models bold, non-retaliatory witness. | Human theologian |
Acts 8 — Persecution Scatters the Church; Philip in Samaria; Simon Magus; the Ethiopian Eunuch
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Gospel to Jews and Gentiles (Samaria) | 8:1, 8:5, 8:14, 8:25 | High | Samaritans occupy an ethnic-religious boundary category; parallel sensitivity to Myanmar’s own majority-minority Buddhist/ethnic dynamics. | Human theologian |
| Unity of Jews and Gentiles | 8:1-25 | High | The gospel deliberately crosses the Jew-Samaritan boundary; must retain full theological force. | Human theologian |
| Sorcery and Occult Power Rejected | 8:9-24 (Simon Magus) | High | Direct collision with Myanmar’s weizza-adept practice and amulet potency; the Spirit’s gift cannot be bought with money or merit. | Human theologian |
| Gospel | 8:4, 8:12, 8:25, 8:35, 8:40 | High | Repeated proclamation-refrain across the chapter must retain unique salvation-announcement force. | Human theologian |
| Evangelism | 8:4, 8:25, 8:35, 8:40 | Medium | Philip’s example models respectful, Scripture-based proclamation rather than confrontational framing. | Native speaker review |
| Repentance and Baptism | 8:12-13, 8:36-38 | Critical | Simon’s and the eunuch’s baptisms illustrate genuine versus deficient faith-response; baptism distinguished from ritual bathing/merit-dedication. | Human theologian |

| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Conversion of Paul | 9:1-19 | Critical | First of three tellings; must be rendered consistently across chs. 9, 22, 26 and must not be reframed as a self-attained breakthrough or karmic reversal. | Human theologian |
| Divine Calling / Effectual Calling (chosen instrument) | 9:15 | High | Sovereign selection prior to and apart from Paul’s own religious achievement — the opposite direction of merit-based advancement. | Human theologian |
| The Way as Christian Identity | 9:2 | Critical | Direct collision with the Noble Eightfold Path as a self-directed liberation discipline; must be taught as allegiance to and following of the living Christ, received by grace. | Human theologian |
| Lordship of Christ | 9:5 | Critical | ”I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting” — Christ personally identifies with his persecuted people, exclusive Lordship over Saul’s life. | Human theologian |
| Persecution and Bold Witness | 9:1, 9:4-5, 9:23-29 | High | Christ’s personal identification with the persecuted must be retained; Saul’s own immediate bold preaching after conversion continues the theme. | Human theologian |

| Sainthood | 9:13, 9:32, 9:41 | Medium | ”Saints” as ordinary believers at Joppa/Lydda, not an ascetic elite. | Native speaker review |
| The Church as Community | 9:31 | Medium | The church “multiplied” while walking in fear of the Lord and comfort of the Spirit — corporate growth as Spirit-fruit, not institution-building. | Native speaker review |

|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Gospel to Jews and Gentiles | 10:1-48 | High | The pivotal narrative demonstrating Gentile inclusion apart from Jewish ritual boundary markers. | Human theologian |
| Unity of Jews and Gentiles / God Shows No Partiality | 10:34-35 | High | Anchors Universal Scope against any notion of ethnic-religious priority — directly relevant to Bamar-Buddhist majority/minority dynamics. | Human theologian |
| Sanctification (ritual unclean/clean abolished) | 10:14-15, 10:28 | High | Requires a translator note distinguishing the abolished ritual-purity category from the continuing moral/relational holiness category. | Human theologian |
| The Holy Spirit and Pentecost (Gentile outpouring) | 10:44-47 | Critical | The Spirit falls on Gentiles exactly as at Pentecost — proof the same Critical doctrine applies without ethnic restriction. | Human theologian |
| Repentance and Baptism | 10:47-48 | Critical | Household baptism follows visible Spirit-reception, not merit-dedication ritual. | Human theologian |
| Power of God for Salvation and Ministry | 10:38 | High | Jesus “anointed with the Holy Spirit and power” — God’s own power, never အနုဘော်တန်ခိုး (amulet/relic potency). | Human theologian |
Acts 11 — Peter Reports to Jerusalem; the Church at Antioch
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |

| Confrontation with Idolatry (implicit — Herod’s false glory) | 12:20-23 | Critical (inherited from glory/idolatry cluster) | Herod’s acceptance of divine honor and subsequent judgment contrasts sharply with the true God’s glory (ဘုန်းတော်), which is never merit-power a ruler earns or claims. | Human theologian |

| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|

| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |

| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Name of Jesus and Exclusive Salvation (Believe and be saved) | 16:31 | Critical | ”Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved” — must be rendered with the same rigor as Romans 10:9-10 per cross-document consistency; not merely this-worldly rescue from prison. | Human theologian |

Acts 17 — Thessalonica, Berea, Athens (Areopagus)
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Confrontation with Idolatry | 17:16-31 | Critical | Paul’s Areopagus speech is the book’s most sustained direct confrontation of idolatry; the “unknown god” bridge (17:23) is immediately corrected by Paul, not an endorsement of prior religious frameworks (nats, folk deities) as partial revelation. | Human theologian |
| Universal Human Accountability | 17:30-31 | High | A single, final, personal divine judgment for all humanity, not graded karmic accounting across lifetimes. | Human theologian |
| Resurrection of Christ | 17:18, 17:31-32 | Critical | Greek philosophical mockery of the resurrection (17:32) illustrates cross-cultural offense; the forbidden-substitution rule (never rebirth/reincarnation language) still applies absolutely, without softening for cultural comfort. | Human theologian |
| Inspiration of Scripture | 17:11 | High | The Bereans “examined the Scriptures” as the authoritative standard for testing teaching — distinct from Tipitaka authority resting on the Buddha’s own insight. | Human theologian |
Acts 18 — Corinth; Aquila and Priscilla; Return Journey
Reviewed — no new doctrine introduced. This chapter continues and reinforces doctrines already established: Gospel (18:5), Messianic Promise (18:5, 18:28), and background Church Leadership (Apollos instructed further, 18:26). | The Holy Spirit and Pentecost | 19:2, 19:6 | Critical | Spirit received upon Paul’s laying on of hands; tongues again as intelligible sign, not trance ecstasy. | Human theologian |
| Sorcery and Occult Power Rejected | 19:13-19 (sons of Sceva) | High | The Name of Jesus is misused as a magical incantation and fails — a direct warning against exactly this misuse; must be distinguished from genuine faith-invocation. | Human theologian |
| The Name of Jesus and Exclusive Salvation | 19:13, 19:17 | Critical | Same passage shows both the danger of misuse and the ultimate vindication of the true Name’s power. | Human theologian |
| Confrontation with Idolatry (Artemis/Diana) | 19:23-41 | Critical | Reinforces the idolatry doctrine; gospel advance visibly threatens an entrenched religious-economic system, a dynamic with resonance for religiously-invested local economies in Myanmar. | Human theologian |
| Great Commission and Mission to the Nations (word of God grew) | 19:20 | Medium | Structural growth-refrain marking gospel advance amid opposition. | Native speaker review |

| Providence | 23:11 | High | The Lord’s personal assurance to Paul (“take courage”) — purposive divine governance, not fatalistic chance. | Human theologian |
Acts 24 — Paul Before Felix
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |

| Thanksgiving | 27:35 | Low | Paul’s giving of thanks before eating; standard low-risk term. | Automated review |
Acts 28 — Malta; Arrival in Rome; the Book’s Open Ending
| Doctrine | Supporting Passages | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Providence | 28:1-6 | High | Paul’s survival of the viper bite read by islanders through a pagan-superstitious lens (a god), which the narrative implicitly corrects. | Human theologian |
| Great Commission and Mission to the Nations | 28:23, 28:28, 28:31 | Medium | The book’s deliberately open-ended climax — “preaching the kingdom of God… with all boldness and without hindrance” — must preserve the intentional non-closure; သာသနာပြု risk peaks here as the narrative’s summary term. | Native speaker review |
| Universal Scope of the Gospel | 28:28 | High | Salvation explicitly said to go “to the Gentiles” as the book closes — unqualified universality retained to the very last verse. | Human theologian |
| Thanksgiving | 28:15 | Low | Paul thanks God at the sight of the Roman believers. | Automated review |

Critical Risk Doctrines
Conversion of Paul
Burmese name: ပေါလု၏ ပြောင်းလဲခြင်း
Key terms: heavenly_vision, chosen_instrument, the_way, election
Review routing: Human theologian
The threefold retelling anchors sovereign divine initiative; must be rendered consistently across all three tellings and must not be reframed as a self-attained spiritual breakthrough or a karmic reversal, but a sovereign, gracious divine interruption of a persecutor’s life.
Deity of Christ
Burmese name: ခရစ်တော်၏ဘုရားဇာတိ
Key terms: son_of_god, holy_and_righteous_one, exaltation_right_hand_of_god, son_of_man
Review routing: Human theologian
Co-equal, eternal divine nature; must not be rendered as an enlightened human teacher elevated to a Brahma-realm deity through accumulated merit or meditative attainment.
Forgiveness of Sins
Burmese name: အပြစ်လွတ်ငြိမ်းခြင်း
Key terms: forgiveness_of_sins, sin, repentance
Review routing: Human theologian
Must be sharply distinguished from the Buddhist practice of offsetting demerit (အကုသိုလ်) through merit-transfer or ritual dedication; a decisive, complete judicial pardon by a personal God, not a partial ledger adjustment awaiting future karmic reckoning.
Grace
Burmese name: ကျေးဇူးတော်
Key terms: grace, gift_of_the_holy_spirit, favor_non_technical
Review routing: Human theologian
Cuts directly against the daily lay practice of merit-making (ကုသိုလ်ပြုခြင်း); note also the distinct non-technical χάρις sense at Acts 2:47 (ordinary social goodwill), which must NOT be rendered with the Critical term ကျေးဇူးတော် lest it imply the early church earned merit with outsiders.
The Holy Spirit and Pentecost
Burmese name: သန့်ရှင်းသောဝိညာဉ်တော်နှင့် ပင်တေကုတ္တေနေ့
Key terms: holy_spirit, pentecost, filled_with_the_holy_spirit, tongues, gift_of_the_holy_spirit
Review routing: Human theologian
The Spirit’s coming at a fixed, one-time covenant-historical feast must not be mapped onto the cyclical Buddhist festival/full-moon calendar, nor onto trance/possession phenomena (နတ်ဝင်ခြင်း) associated with nat-kadaw mediums; this is the theological anchor doctrine of the whole curriculum.
Confrontation with Idolatry
Burmese name: ရုပ်တုကိုးကွယ်ခြင်းကို ဆန့်ကျင်ခြင်း
Key terms: idols, living_god, unknown_god, diana_artemis
Review routing: Human theologian
Extremely high cultural sensitivity given the deep, beloved reverence for Buddha images (ဘုရားပုံ၊ ဘုရားရုပ်တု) in Myanmar; the doctrinal point that idols are not to be worshiped as divine must be preserved with full force while being handled without gratuitous cultural offense.
Justification apart from the Law
Burmese name: ပညတ်တရားမှလွတ်၍ ဖြောင့်မတ်ရာသို့ရောက်ခြင်း
Key terms: justification, law, grace, circumcision, imputed_righteousness
Review routing: Human theologian
The Jerusalem council’s ruling is the flashpoint test case that adding law-observance (circumcision) to faith as a salvation requirement is explicitly rejected; must retain full parallel force with the Critical justification and grace doctrines against merit-based religious performance.
Lordship of Christ
Burmese name: ခရစ်တော်၏အရှင်သခင်ဇာတိ
Key terms: lord, believe_in_the_lord_jesus_and_be_saved, call_upon_the_name_of_the_lord
Review routing: Human theologian
Exclusive, supreme Lordship confessed at multiple salvation-defining moments in Acts (2:21,36; 16:31); must not be diluted into one respected teacher among the many venerated in Burmese religious life.
Messianic Promise
Burmese name: မေရှိယဆိုင်ရာကတိတော်
Key terms: messiah, david, seed_of_david
Review routing: Human theologian
CRITICAL: must never be conflated with Theravada expectation of Metteyya (မိတ္တေယျ), the future Buddha; Acts repeatedly presses this claim in direct debate with Jewish audiences, sharpening the exclusivity already established in the baseline.
The Name of Jesus and Exclusive Salvation
Burmese name: ယေရှု၏နာမတော်နှင့် ထူးခြားသော ကယ်တင်ခြင်း
Key terms: name_of_jesus, no_other_name, call_upon_the_name_of_the_lord, believe_in_the_lord_jesus_and_be_saved
Review routing: Human theologian
The most frequently recurring load-bearing salvation phrase in the book; must never be softened into a generic invocation formula against a multi-refuge devotional culture (Buddha, Dhamma, Sangha, the 37 nats), nor misused as a magical incantation, as the sons-of-Sceva episode itself warns against.
Repentance and Baptism
Burmese name: နောင်တရခြင်းနှင့် ဗတ္တိဇံခံယူခြင်း
Key terms: repentance, baptism, cut_to_the_heart, baptism_of_john_vs_name_of_jesus
Review routing: Human theologian
Repentance must be Spirit-enabled turning of the whole person toward God in trust, not a demerit-reducing confession ritual; baptism must be distinguished from merit-dedication water-pouring (ရေသွန်းကုသိုလ်ဝေခြင်း) and from a repeatable merit-generating rite.
Resurrection of Christ
Burmese name: ခရစ်တော်၏ထမြောက်ခြင်း
Key terms: resurrection, author_of_life, witness
Review routing: Human theologian
The single most-repeated Critical doctrine across the book; ထမြောက်ခြင်း, never ပဋိသန္ဓေတည်ခြင်း (rebirth into samsara); Acts 17:32 records even Greek philosophical culture finding this offensive, underscoring the need for explicit, unsoftened teaching rather than a culturally comfortable substitute.
Salvation
Burmese name: ကယ်တင်ခြင်း
Key terms: salvation, no_other_name, household
Review routing: Human theologian
Never နိဗ္ဗာန်ရောက်ခြင်း; deliverance by a personal God through Christ’s finished work, not self-attained extinguishing of craving; the reflexive ‘save yourselves’ at 2:40 must be flagged so as not to imply self-generated deliverance, which would collide with the grace doctrine.
Sonship of Christ
Burmese name: ခရစ်တော်၏သားတော်ဇာတိ
Key terms: son_of_god, son_of_man
Review routing: Human theologian
Eternal, unique Sonship, not a metaphorical title nor a ranked being within the nat-spirit hierarchy or Brahma cosmology.
Speaking in Tongues at Pentecost
Burmese name: အခြားဘာသာစကားများဖြင့် ပြောဆိုခြင်း
Key terms: tongues, holy_spirit
Review routing: Human theologian
Must be explicitly taught as real, known human languages understood by hearers (v.6,8,11), distinguishing this sign from the unintelligible ecstatic or altered-voice speech recognized in Burmese spirit-mediumship trance practice.
Spirit-Filling as Personal Empowerment
Burmese name: ဝိညာဉ်တော်နှင့် ပြည့်ဝခြင်း
Key terms: filled_with_the_holy_spirit, holy_spirit, boldness
Review routing: Human theologian
The single greatest syncretism risk in Acts: this recurring refrain must never be rendered or illustrated in a way mapping onto နတ်ဝင်ခြင်း (nat-spirit possession, which displaces a medium’s own consciousness); biblical Spirit-filling increases the believer’s own faculties (boldness, clarity, intelligible speech), it never displaces personal agency.
Spiritual Authority over Evil Spirits
Burmese name: နတ်ဆိုးများအပေါ် ဝိညာဉ်ရေးအရ အခွင့်အာဏာ
Key terms: evil_unclean_spirit, name_of_jesus, sorcery_magic
Review routing: Human theologian
The single most direct collision with Burmese nat-spirit cosmology, in which spirits are ranked and must typically be propitiated; biblical evil spirits are always subordinate, hostile-to-God beings overcome by Christ’s authority, never entities to be appeased, bargained with, or worshiped, and must be sharply distinguished from the Holy Spirit at every occurrence.
The Way as Christian Identity
Burmese name: ခရစ်ယာန်ဘာသာကို ရည်ညွှန်းသော ‘လမ်းစဉ်တော်’
Key terms: the_way
Review routing: Human theologian
Direct collision with the Buddhist Noble Eightfold Path (မဂ်ဂင်ရှစ်ပါး) as a self-directed discipline toward liberation; must be taught as personal allegiance to and following of the living Christ, received by grace, not a self-powered ethical-meditative path pursued to attain one’s own liberation.
High Risk Doctrines
Apostolic Authority and Miracles
Burmese name: တမန်တော်တို့၏ အခွင့်အာဏာနှင့် အံ့ဖွယ်အမှုများ
Key terms: signs_and_wonders, apostle, whole_counsel_of_god, it_seemed_good_to_the_holy_spirit_and_to_us
Review routing: Human theologian
Direct collision risk with the supernatural powers (iddhi/abhiññā) attributed to advanced meditators and arahants, and with weizza-adept and amulet potency; these signs authenticate God’s message and messenger by divine initiative, not personal spiritual accomplishment attainable through discipline.
Divine Calling
Burmese name: ဘုရားသခင်၏ခေါ်တော်မူခြင်း
Key terms: called, calling, chosen_instrument
Review routing: Human theologian
God’s sovereign call, distinguished from ကံဇာတာ (fixed karmic destiny) and from a revocable invitation a person can simply decline; Paul’s calling (9:15) exemplifies unilateral divine initiative preceding any human response.
Effectual Calling / Election
Burmese name: အာနုဘော်နှင့်ပြည့်စုံသော ခေါ်တော်မူခြင်းနှင့် ရွေးကောက်ခြင်း
Key terms: election, chosen_instrument, calling
Review routing: Human theologian
God’s sovereign choice, not ကံဇာတာ/ကံကြမ္မာ (karma-fixed destiny); Paul as ‘a chosen instrument’ models sovereign selection prior to and apart from the person’s own religious achievement.
Fulfillment of Prophecy
Burmese name: ပရောဖက်ပြုချက်၏ပြည့်စုံခြင်း
Key terms: prophecy, prophet, servant_pais, light_for_the_gentiles
Review routing: Human theologian
Linear, one-time historical fulfillment (OT to NT), not the cyclical cosmology of repeating world-ages (ကမ္ဘာ) found in Buddhist cosmology; Acts repeatedly cites named OT texts as directly, exclusively fulfilled.
Gospel
Burmese name: သတင်းကောင်း
Key terms: gospel
Review routing: Human theologian
Must be distinguished from any generic pleasant announcement; the gospel is the unique proclamation of a Savior who rescues, not a report of good fortune or improved karma, especially as it spreads narratively across ethnic and religious boundaries throughout Acts.
Inspiration of Scripture
Burmese name: ကျမ်းစာတော်မြတ်၏ လှုံ့ဆော်မှု
Key terms: prophecy, prophet, examining_the_scriptures
Review routing: Human theologian
Distinguish God-breathed Scripture, tested directly against its own text (as the Bereans did, 17:11), from the Tipitaka’s authority, which rests on the Buddha’s own enlightened insight rather than a personal God speaking through chosen human authors.
Obedience of Faith
Burmese name: ယုံကြည်ခြင်း၏နာခံမှု
Key terms: obedience_of_faith, faith
Review routing: Human theologian
Obedience flowing from faith, not precept-observance (သီလလိုက်နာခြင်း) performed to raise one’s merit standing; the phrase describes even a priestly class’s response to the gospel’s spread into unlikely quarters.
Persecution and Bold Witness
Burmese name: နှိပ်စက်ညှဉ်းပန်းခြင်းနှင့် ရဲရင့်စွာ သက်သေခံခြင်း
Key terms: witness, boldness, persecute, defense_apology
Review routing: Human theologian
Spirit-given fearless proclamation despite threat, distinguished from mere aggressive confrontation, which must be avoided given the real social and family cost of conversion from Buddhism in Myanmar; Christ’s personal identification with the persecuted (9:4-5) must be retained.
Power of God for Salvation and Ministry
Burmese name: ကယ်တင်ခြင်းနှင့် အမှုတော်အတွက် ဘုရားသခင်၏တန်ခိုးတော်
Key terms: power_of_god, signs_and_wonders
Review routing: Human theologian
တန်ခိုးတော် required; never အနုဘော်တန်ခိုး, which evokes the supernatural potency ascribed to relics and amulets; this is God’s own power authenticating his message and messengers, not a spiritual attainment purchasable through discipline.
Providence
Burmese name: ဘုရားသခင်၏ကြည့်ရှုစောင့်ရှောက်မှု
Key terms: providence, foreknowledge, casting_lots
Review routing: Human theologian
God’s personal, purposive governance of events, not ကံ (impersonal karmic cause and effect); Christ’s death itself is framed as the deliberate outworking of God’s sovereign plan (2:23), not tragedy overtaking God’s purpose.
Sanctification
Burmese name: သန့်ရှင်းခြင်း
Key terms: sanctification, holy, saints, unclean_clean_ritual
Review routing: Human theologian
The Spirit’s ongoing work of making believers holy, not a self-directed discipline of precept-keeping and meditation practiced to purify one’s own mind; a translator note must distinguish this continuing moral/relational category from the ritual-purity category abolished in Acts 10.
Sorcery and Occult Power Rejected
Burmese name: မှော်အတတ်နှင့် နတ်ဝိဇ္ဇာအတတ်ကို ငြင်းပယ်ခြင်း
Key terms: sorcery_magic, evil_unclean_spirit
Review routing: Human theologian
Direct collision with Myanmar’s widespread astrology (ဗေဒင်), esoteric weizza-adept practice, and spirit-mediumship; the text’s repeated condemnation of purchasing or wielding spiritual power for personal gain must be taught as: the Spirit’s gifts cannot be bought, whether with money or with merit.
Unity of Jews and Gentiles
Burmese name: ယုဒလူမျိုးနှင့် တစ်ပါးအမျိုးသားတို့၏ စည်းလုံးခြင်း
Key terms: gentiles, samaria_samaritans, circumcision, god_shows_no_partiality
Review routing: Human theologian
Challenges any notion that being Buddhist and Bamar carries inherent religious priority over minority ethnic or religious groups, paralleling the Jew-Samaritan boundary deliberately crossed in Acts 8; must be rendered with full theological clarity.
Universal Human Accountability
Burmese name: လူသားအားလုံး၏ တာဝန်ခံမှု
Key terms: judgment_to_come, sin
Review routing: Human theologian
A single, final, personal divine reckoning for all humanity, which must be retained without softening into a graded karmic accounting across multiple lifetimes.
Universal Scope of the Gospel
Burmese name: သတင်းကောင်း၏ လူတိုင်းအတွက်ဖြစ်ခြင်း
Key terms: salvation, gentiles, god_shows_no_partiality
Review routing: Human theologian
No ethnic or social barrier to the gospel; must retain unqualified universality despite Myanmar’s own ethnic-majority/minority tensions surrounding Buddhist national identity.
Medium Risk Doctrines
Apostleship
Burmese name: တမန်တော်ဖြစ်ခြင်း
Key terms: apostle, the_twelve
Review routing: Native speaker review
Risk of reducing apostleship to a respected senior-monk (ဆရာတော်) style teaching role rather than a directly commissioned, authoritative sent-one; the replacement of Judas (ch.1) underscores the office’s defined, bounded authority.
The Church as Community
Burmese name: အသင်းတော်သည် အသိုင်းအဝိုင်းတစ်ခုအဖြစ်
Key terms: church, fellowship, breaking_of_bread, common_possessions_sharing, household
Review routing: Native speaker review
A new-covenant community bound by shared devotion, not a monastery-centered religious institution organized around a resident sangha; sharing of possessions must be distinguished from dana-style merit-earning giving, and shared meals from merit-earning alms to monks.
Church Leadership and Governance
Burmese name: အသင်းတော်ခေါင်းဆောင်မှုနှင့် စီမံအုပ်ချုပ်မှု
Key terms: elders, overseer, deacon_service, shepherd_flock
Review routing: Native speaker review
A Spirit-recognized, appointed pastoral-governance office, distinct from a village traditional elder or from Buddhist monastic seniority (thera, based on years since ordination); deacon-service must be distinguished from the lay-supporter (kappiya) role that provisions monks for merit.
Evangelism
Burmese name: သတင်းကောင်းဟောပြောခြင်း
Key terms: gospel, boldness, witness
Review routing: Native speaker review
Sensitive in a context where conversion from Buddhism carries real social and family cost; use language of witness and proclamation, not confrontational framing.
Faith
Burmese name: ယုံကြည်ခြင်း
Key terms: faith
Review routing: Native speaker review
A cognate concept (သဒ္ဓါ, confidence built through verified experience of the Triple Gem) already exists, lowering total incomprehension risk but requiring care that faith is presented as trust in the person of Christ, not experiential confidence in a teaching.
The Great Commission Fulfilled / Mission to the Nations
Burmese name: လူမျိုးအပေါင်းတို့အား သာသနာပြုခြင်းနှင့် သခင်ဘုရား၏ အမိန့်တော်ပြည့်စုံခြင်း
Key terms: mission, kingdom_of_god, gentiles, light_for_the_gentiles
Review routing: Native speaker review
The word သာသနာပြု carries a Buddhist-institutional flavor (propagating the Buddha’s Sasana); the book’s own structure (Jerusalem to Judea to Samaria to the ends of the earth, closing at Rome) should confirm this is gospel proclamation advancing without hindrance, not Sasana-style institution-building.
Sainthood (Called to be Holy)
Burmese name: သန့်ရှင်းသူအဖြစ် ခေါ်တော်မူခြင်း
Key terms: saints, holy
Review routing: Native speaker review
All believers are saints, not an ascetic elite comparable to a ရဟန္တာ (arahant) who has personally achieved enlightenment through monastic discipline.
Low Risk Doctrines
Christian Fellowship
Burmese name: ခရစ်ယာန်မိတ်သဟာယ
Key terms: fellowship, breaking_of_bread
Review routing: Automated review
Shared participation in Christ, not merely social association within a monastery-affiliated lay community.
Mutual Care and Generosity
Burmese name: အချင်းချင်း ဂရုစိုက်ခြင်းနှင့် ရက်ရောစွာ ပေးကမ်းခြင်း
Key terms: common_possessions_sharing, shepherd_flock
Review routing: Automated review
Generosity flowing from Spirit-given love and unity, distinguished from dana-style meritorious giving that accumulates personal spiritual credit toward a better rebirth.
Thanksgiving
Burmese name: ကျေးဇူးတင်ခြင်း
Key terms: thanksgiving
Review routing: Automated review
Standard term; minor risk of collapsing into generic ritual merit-dedication language.
