Welcome to the Library

What is this?

The Library publishes the doctrine-aware translation research behind tri-bible.ai, one language and book at a time — free to read and reuse.

How to navigate

Pick a language, then a book, in the sidebar. Each book has a Doctrine Analysis, a Core Glossary, and, for the language as a whole, a Comparative Theology and Regional Analysis. Use the search icon in the top nav to jump straight to a term or doctrine instead of browsing.

What the risk tiers mean

Every doctrine and glossary term is labeled with how easily it could be misread or mistranslated in that language's own cultural and religious context:

Critical
A wrong word choice here risks distorting core theology — always reviewed by a theologian before use.
High
A real, well-documented risk of confusion with another tradition or belief system — needs theologian review.
Medium
Worth a native speaker's second look, but not likely to distort the core meaning.
Low
Minor wording nuance — low risk of confusion either way.

Cross-Reference Analysis

2 Timothy — Cross-Reference and Theme Analysis (Hmong Language Package)

§0. Conventions

  • 2 Timothy citations use the established book-name convention from analysis/07_semantic_analysis.md §0: 2 Timautes [chapter]:[verse] (e.g., 2 Timautes 3:16).
  • Cross-referenced OT/NT passages (passages outside 2 Timothy) are cited in normalized standard English formBook chapter:verse, e.g. Genesis 15:6, Psalm 34:19, Romans 6:8 — regardless of destination language, so that this matrix remains machine-normalizable and cross-linkable across all TRI-Bible language packages, per the Phase 1 instruction. Where the referenced book is itself a TRI curriculum already localized into Hmong (currently only Romans, cited destination-side as Loos), both forms are given at first mention: Romans 6:8 (Loos 6:8).
  • Translation sensitivity ratings reuse the four-tier risk vocabulary fixed in assets/bible_term_registry.json: Critical / High / Medium / Low.
  • This document does not re-derive the term-level analysis already completed in 07_semantic_analysis.md/08_core_glossary.md; it cross-references those terms against Scripture’s wider witness and against the Romans Hmong Language Package specifically, per the Phase 1 Step 3 mandate.
  • Full-book coverage: every chapter (1-4) of 2 Timothy is represented below; no chapter is silently skipped.

§1. Cross-Reference Matrix — Chapter 1 (2 Timautes 1:1-18)

PassageTheme/DoctrineRelated Character(s)OT/NT ConnectionTranslation Sensitivity
2 Timautes 1:3Faithful Transmission of the GospelPaul; “forefathers”General patriarchal covenant-worship background (cf. Genesis 12:8; Acts 24:14)Low — descriptive continuity claim, no direct quotation.
2 Timautes 1:5Faithful Transmission of the GospelLois, Eunice, TimothyDeuteronomy 6:6-7 (teach diligently to children); Psalm 78:5-7 (transmit to next generation)Medium — genuine positive bridge via Hmong multigenerational oral transmission, but must be taught as fixed-content transmission (see 08_core_glossary.md B6) not organically-adaptive oral custom.
2 Timautes 1:6Faithful Transmission; The Charge to Preach the WordPaul, TimothyTypology: Numbers 27:18-23 and Deuteronomy 34:9 (Moses commissions Joshua by laying on hands)Medium — same caution as B23 in 08_core_glossary.md: distinguish apostolic ordination from folk hand-blessing (hu plig) gestures via teaching note.
2 Timautes 1:7Perseverance under SufferingPaul, TimothyIsaiah 11:2 (Spirit of the LORD: wisdom, counsel, might); NT parallel Romans 8:15 (Loos 8:15) “spirit of adoption, not fear”High — hwjchim (power) here must carry the mandatory Vajtswv hwjchim qualifier exactly as in the Romans baseline; direct intra-pipeline parallel.
2 Timautes 1:8-9Grace and Salvation (adjacent); Election and the Sovereignty of God (adjacent)God (implicit)Deuteronomy 7:7-8 (chosen not for merit); direct doctrinal parallel Romans 9:11 (Loos 9:11), Romans 11:6 (Loos 11:6)Critical — must reuse txiaj ntsim (grace) exactly; the “not according to our works” clause is a direct echo of the Romans baseline’s Critical Grace doctrine and must never be softened toward merit.
2 Timautes 1:9-10Assurance of Reward (adjacent); MessianicChrist (Savior)Messianic: Isaiah 9:6; Micah 5:2 (eternal purpose disclosed in a historical appearing); NT parallel Titus 1:2-3Medium-High — epiphaneia collision risk documented in 07_semantic_analysis.md; render identically at every occurrence (1:10, 4:1, 4:8).
2 Timautes 1:10Assurance of RewardChristIsaiah 25:8 (“He will swallow up death”); Hosea 13:14 (quoted 1 Corinthians 15:54-55)Low-Medium — victory-over-death motif transfers without collision; reuse txoj kev tuag (death).
2 Timautes 1:11The Charge to Preach the WordPaulDirect intra-pipeline parallel: Romans 1:1 (Loos 1:1) apostolic self-designationLow — reuse tus Tub Txib (apostle) exactly.
2 Timautes 1:12The Charge to Preach the Word; Perseverance under SufferingPaulDirect lexical/thematic echo: Romans 1:16 (Loos 1:16) “I am not ashamed of the gospel”Low — mandatory rendering-consistency: reuse txaj muag character-for-character.
2 Timautes 1:13Guarding Sound DoctrinePaul, Timothy(No direct OT/NT quotation; foundational for the letter’s health/sickness metaphor family, cf. 2:17, 4:3)Critical — see 08_core_glossary.md B5.
2 Timautes 1:15Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last DaysPhygellus, HermogenesTypological pattern: 2 Chronicles 36:15-16 (Israel turns away from God’s messengers)Medium — establishes the apostrephō (“turn away”) motif tracked through 4:4 and thematically 4:10.
2 Timautes 1:16-18Assurance of Reward (adjacent)OnesiphorusOT mercy-formula pattern: Ruth 1:8-9 (“may the LORD deal kindly with you”); doctrinal parallel Romans 9:15-18 (Loos 9:15-18), Romans 11:30-32 (Loos 11:30-32) mercy doctrineMedium — reuse txoj kev khuv leej (mercy) exactly, kept lexically distinct from grace per the Romans baseline’s Medium-risk warning.

§2. Cross-Reference Matrix — Chapter 2 (2 Timautes 2:1-26)

PassageTheme/DoctrineRelated Character(s)OT/NT ConnectionTranslation Sensitivity
2 Timautes 2:2Faithful Transmission of the GospelPaul, Timothy, “faithful men,” “others”Typology: Deuteronomy 31:7-23 (Moses to Joshua to elders); Numbers 11:16-17 (shared-leadership commissioning)High — the doctrine-defining verse; see 08_core_glossary.md B6, [TRANSLATOR REVIEW NEEDED].
2 Timautes 2:5Assurance of Reward(generic athlete)Typological background: Exodus 28:36 (priestly crown-plate); 2 Samuel 12:30 (royal crown); NT parallels 1 Corinthians 9:24-25, James 1:12, Revelation 2:10, 1 Peter 5:4Medium — no native laurel-wreath tradition; illustrative teaching note required, parallel to the Romans baseline’s olive-tree-grafting strategy.
2 Timautes 2:6The Charge to Preach the Word (adjacent)(generic farmer)Loose NT parallel: Mark 4:1-20; Matthew 13:1-23 (sower parables)Low.
2 Timautes 2:8Messianic; Faithful TransmissionJesus Christ; DavidDirect messianic covenant chain: 2 Samuel 7:12-16; Psalm 89:3-4; Isaiah 11:1,10; Jeremiah 23:5; DIRECT intra-pipeline parallel Romans 1:3 (Loos 1:3) “of the seed of David according to the flesh”Critical — mandatory rendering-consistency: “according to the flesh” here MUST reuse lub cev nqaij tawv (flesh_neutral_descent_body) exactly as fixed in the Romans baseline; never the moral-flesh periphrasis.
2 Timautes 2:9Perseverance under Suffering; Faithful TransmissionPaulTypology: Jeremiah 20:2, 38:6 (Jeremiah imprisoned for the word); NT literary parallel Acts 28:31 (“the word of God unhindered”)High — see 08_core_glossary.md B7; must anchor “the word of God is not bound” to God as active guarantor.
2 Timautes 2:10Election and the Sovereignty of God (adjacent)“the elect”Direct intra-pipeline parallel Romans 8:28-30 (Loos 8:28-30), Romans 9:11 (Loos 9:11)Critical — mandatory reuse of kev xaiv (Vajtswv xaiv raws li nws lub siab nyiam) with volitional-clause qualifier; never hmoov vocabulary.
2 Timautes 2:11-13Union with Christ (adjacent, Perseverance/Apostasy)(creedal “we”)Direct NT self-parallel Romans 6:8 (Loos 6:8) “if we died with Christ, we believe we shall also live with Him”; “if we deny him, he will deny us” echoes the dominical saying Matthew 10:33 / Luke 12:9; “he cannot deny himself” echoes Numbers 23:19, 2 Samuel 7:28 (God’s covenant truthfulness)Critical — this creedal fragment is functionally the same Union-with-Christ death/life formula already fixed in the Romans baseline; must render the death/life clauses consistently with txoj kev tuag, txoj sia nyob mus ib txhis, and nyob hauv Khetos co-text.
2 Timautes 2:15Guarding Sound DoctrineTimothyGeneral wisdom-literature “straight path” motif: Proverbs 3:6; 4:26-27; 11:5High — see 08_core_glossary.md B31 (orthotomeō); explore Hmong furrow-plowing analogy.
2 Timautes 2:17-18Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last DaysHymenaeus, PhiletusTypological pattern: Deuteronomy 13:1-5; Jeremiah 23:16-22 (false prophets who lead the people astray)Medium — reinforces the “sound/healthy doctrine vs. spreading disease” metaphor family (B32).
2 Timautes 2:19aAssurance of Reward; Guarding Sound Doctrine(Korah, implicit typological background)Direct allusion: Numbers 16:5 (LXX, “the Lord knows those who are His,” spoken against Korah’s rebellion)Medium — thematic overlap with Romans 9:33 / 10:11 (Loos 9:33/10:11), both of which quote Isaiah 28:16’s “sure foundation” motif; see §4 rendering-consistency rule below.
2 Timautes 2:19bGuarding Sound Doctrine; Apostasy(general)Probable composite allusion: Isaiah 26:13 (LXX); Numbers 16:26 (Moses: “depart from the tents of the wicked,” same Korah context as 19a); conceptual parallel Isaiah 52:11 (quoted 2 Corinthians 6:17)High — “nameth the name of the Lord” must NOT be rendered with hu (ritual soul-calling verb); this is the same “name of the Lord” motif underlying Romans 10:13 (Loos 10:13)‘s quotation of Joel 2:32, where the baseline already permanently forbids hu-vocabulary. See §4.
2 Timautes 2:20-21Guarding Sound Doctrine(generic vessels)Direct thematic parallel: Jeremiah 18:1-6 (potter/vessel); Isaiah 29:16, 45:9; DIRECT intra-pipeline parallel Romans 9:21 (Loos 9:21) vessel-of-mercy/wrath metaphorMedium — reuse lub yias (vessel) root but with the honor/dishonor qualifier, explicitly distinguished in teaching from the Romans 9 mercy/wrath application (self-purification vs. unconditional election).
2 Timautes 2:24-26Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days”the devil” (diabolos)Typological origin: Genesis 3:1-15 (the serpent/deceiver); Job 1:6-12, 2:1-7 (the Adversary); NT confirmation Revelation 12:9 (“that ancient serpent… called the devil”)Critical — see 08_core_glossary.md B8; mandatory “dab Ntxwg Nyoog” naming convention, never bare “dab.”

§3. Cross-Reference Matrix — Chapter 3 (2 Timautes 3:1-17)

(3:14-17 is the opening of the core passage; cross-references for it are included here for completeness alongside 3:1-13, consistent with the full-book-coverage mandate.)

PassageTheme/DoctrineRelated Character(s)OT/NT ConnectionTranslation Sensitivity
2 Timautes 3:1-5Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days(generic vice-catalogue)DIRECT structural/literary parallel: Romans 1:29-31 (Loos 1:29-31) vice listMedium — shared vocabulary items (e.g., “boasting” kev khav theeb) must be rendered identically to the Romans baseline occurrence.
2 Timautes 3:5Apostasy; Guarding Sound Doctrine(generic)Direct quotation-lineage parallel: Isaiah 29:13 (“honor me with lips, heart far from me”), quoted Matthew 15:8-9 / Mark 7:6High — see 08_core_glossary.md B11; must not be weaponized against Hmong ancestral honor-ritual generally; targets internal-church formalism.
2 Timautes 3:6-7Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days(unnamed “women”)Loose wisdom-literature analogy: Proverbs 7 (seduction imagery reused for doctrinal seduction)Low-Medium — caution against over-generalizing to women as a category (see 07_semantic_analysis.md ch.3 note).
2 Timautes 3:8Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last DaysMoses (implied); Jannes, JambresDIRECT typological allusion: Exodus 7:11-22 (Pharaoh’s court magicians opposing Moses and Aaron)Medium — proper-name transliteration only; flag for verification against existing Hmong OT Exodus material (see 08_core_glossary.md §C).
2 Timautes 3:11Perseverance under SufferingPaulDIRECT near-quotation: Psalm 34:19 (“many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him out of them all”)Medium — Paul explicitly places himself in the Psalmist’s “righteous sufferer” pattern; reuse cawm/kev cawm dim family with appropriate qualifying context (cf. §4 rhyomai note).
2 Timautes 3:12Perseverance under Suffering(all godly believers)NT dominical parallel: Matthew 5:12 (“so persecuted the prophets before you”); John 15:20Medium-High — see 07_semantic_analysis.md ch.3 note distinguishing normal Christian persecution from the traditional Hmong misfortune-signals-ritual-failure framework.
2 Timautes 3:13Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days”evil men and impostors”Apocalyptic deceiver-figure pattern: Daniel 8:23-25; Daniel 11 (end-times deceivers); direct Pauline parallel 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12High — see 08_core_glossary.md B12-B13.
2 Timautes 3:14-15Inspiration and Sufficiency of Scripture; Faithful Transmission of the GospelTimothy, Lois, Eunice (cf. 1:5)Deuteronomy 6:6-7 (teach children diligently); Psalm 119:9-11 (young man keeping God’s word)Medium — see 08_core_glossary.md B2.
2 Timautes 3:16Inspiration and Sufficiency of Scripture(none named)DIRECT NT parallel: 2 Peter 1:20-21 (“prophecy… men moved by the Holy Spirit”); OT background: Psalm 119 (whole psalm); Jeremiah 1:9 (word placed in the prophet’s mouth)Critical — see 08_core_glossary.md B1, [TRANSLATOR REVIEW NEEDED].
2 Timautes 3:17Inspiration and Sufficiency of ScriptureMoses, Samuel, David, Elijah, Elisha (typological title-lineage)DIRECT typological title reuse: “man of God” — Deuteronomy 33:1 (Moses); 1 Samuel 9:6 (Samuel); 2 Chronicles 8:14 (David); 1 Kings 17:18,24 (Elijah); 2 Kings 4:9 (Elisha); 1 Kings 13:1 (unnamed prophet)Medium — Timothy (and by extension every Scripture-formed believer) is placed within this OT prophetic-office lineage; see 08_core_glossary.md B3.

§4. Cross-Reference Matrix — Chapter 4 (2 Timautes 4:1-22)

(4:1-5 is the closing of the core passage; included here for full-chapter continuity.)

2 Timautes 4:2The Charge to Preach the WordTimothyProphetic commissioning formula: Jeremiah 1:17 (“arise and speak”); Ezekiel 2:7Medium — see 08_core_glossary.md B17-B18.
2 Timautes 4:3-4Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days; Guarding Sound DoctrineMicaiah and the 400 false prophets (typological background)Direct typological pattern: 1 Kings 22:8-13 (Micaiah vs. Ahab’s false prophets); Isaiah 30:9-11 (“give us smooth things”); Jeremiah 5:31 (“my people love it so”)Critical — see 08_core_glossary.md B5, B14; the hygiainousa didaskalia / mythoi pairing is the letter’s doctrinal center of gravity for this theme.
2 Timautes 4:5The Charge to Preach the WordTimothyDIRECT intra-pipeline parallel: Romans 10:15 (Loos 10:15), itself quoting Isaiah 52:7 (“how beautiful are the feet of him who brings good news”)Low-Medium — reuse Txoj Moo Zoo (gospel) exactly when the evangelist’s message-content is in view.
2 Timautes 4:6Assurance of Reward; Perseverance under SufferingPaulOT cultic background: Numbers 28:7; Exodus 29:40 (drink-offering regulations); direct Pauline self-parallel Philippians 2:17 (same verb, spendomai)Critical — see 08_core_glossary.md B36, [TRANSLATOR REVIEW NEEDED]; direct, specific collision with Hmong ancestral libation practice (nchuav cawv).
2 Timautes 4:7Assurance of RewardPaulNT parallel cluster: 1 Corinthians 9:24-27; Hebrews 12:1; Paul’s own earlier self-description, Acts 20:24Low-Medium — see 08_core_glossary.md B38.
2 Timautes 4:8Messianic; Assurance of RewardChrist (righteous Judge)NT crown-motif cluster: 1 Corinthians 9:25; James 1:12; Revelation 2:10; 1 Peter 5:4; “righteous Judge” title echoes Genesis 18:25 (“Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?”), Psalm 7:11Medium — must be taught alongside the Critical Justification-by-Faith doctrine (Romans baseline) so that reward-language never undermines grace-alone salvation; see §4.2 below.
2 Timautes 4:10Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last DaysDemasNT thematic parallel: 1 John 2:15 (“love not the world”); typological counter-example: Genesis 19:26 / Luke 17:32 (Lot’s wife’s fatal backward love)Medium — αἰών (“this present age”) must be kept distinct from lub ntiajteb (kosmos); see 08_core_glossary.md B15.
2 Timautes 4:14Assurance of RewardAlexander the coppersmithDIRECT near-quotation: Psalm 62:12; Proverbs 24:12 (“will He not render to man according to his work?”); 2 Samuel 3:39 (David’s imprecation against Joab); DIRECT intra-pipeline parallel Romans 12:19 (Loos 12:19), quoting Deuteronomy 32:35High — see §4.2 below; no existing dedicated Romans TM entry for this “the Lord will repay” formula — flag as a new shared term requiring a TM-revision review across both curricula.
2 Timautes 4:16Perseverance under SufferingPaulNT typological parallel: Acts 7:60 (Stephen’s dying prayer); ultimately Luke 23:34 (Christ’s own words, “Father, forgive them”)Medium — Paul stands in the Christ/Stephen pattern of forgiving persecutors under suffering.

2 Timautes 4:18Assurance of RewardChrist (deliverer)Direct dominical-prayer parallel: Matthew 6:13 (“deliver us from evil… for thine is the kingdom”); doxology form rooted in 1 Chronicles 29:11, Psalm 145:13Low — reuse kev cawm dim/cawm and lub Nceeg Vaj ntawm Vajtswv exactly.

§7. Parallels to the Romans Hmong Language Package — Rendering-Consistency Rules

Because 2 Timothy shares no identical verbatim OT quotation with Romans, all cross-curriculum consistency requirements below concern (a) shared underlying Greek terms already fixed in assets/translation_memory.json, and (b) shared OT motifs quoted independently by each letter, which must not receive divergent Hmong renderings for the same underlying concept.

§7.1 Shared fixed terms (reuse exactly — no divergence permitted)

Shared Element2 Timothy OccurrenceRomans OccurrenceRule
”Not ashamed”2 Timautes 1:12Romans 1:16 (Loos 1:16)Reuse txaj muag character-for-character in both.
Grace excludes works2 Timautes 1:9Romans 4:4-5, 11:6 (Loos 4:4-5, 11:6)Reuse txiaj ntsim; koob hmoov remains permanently forbidden in both curricula.
Election of “the elect”2 Timautes 2:10Romans 8:28-30, 9:11 (Loos 8:28-30, 9:11)Reuse kev xaiv (Vajtswv xaiv raws li nws lub siab nyiam) with mandatory volitional clause; hmoov vocabulary permanently forbidden in both.
Union-with-Christ death/life formula2 Timautes 2:11Romans 6:8 (Loos 6:8)Render the two passages’ death/life clauses identically, using txoj kev tuag, txoj sia nyob mus ib txhis, nyob hauv Khetos.
”According to the flesh” (Davidic descent)2 Timautes 2:8Romans 1:3 (Loos 1:3)Reuse lub cev nqaij tawv (flesh_neutral_descent_body) exactly; never the moral-flesh periphrasis in either passage.
Vessel metaphor2 Timautes 2:20-21Romans 9:21-23 (Loos 9:21-23)Reuse lub yias root; qualify 2 Timothy’s occurrence as honor/dishonor (self-purification) and keep it explicitly distinguished in teaching from Romans’s mercy/wrath (unconditional election) application.
”Beautiful feet” gospel-herald motif2 Timautes 4:5 (evangelist)Romans 10:15 (Loos 10:15), quoting Isaiah 52:7Reuse Txoj Moo Zoo exactly wherever the proclaimed message-content is in view.
Mercy distinct from grace2 Timautes 1:2, 1:16-18Romans 9:15-18,23; 11:30-32 (Loos 9:15-18,23; 11:30-32)Reuse txoj kev khuv leej, kept lexically distinct from txiaj ntsim in both.
Mandatory power qualifier2 Timautes 1:7, 3:5Romans 1:16 and throughout (Loos 1:16, etc.)Reuse Vajtswv hwjchim; never bare hwjchim in either curriculum.
Judge who judges vs. justifies2 Timautes 4:1, 4:8Romans 8:33-34 (Loos 8:33-34)Keep vocabulary consistent so the Judge of 2 Timothy 4:1/4:8 is recognizable as the same Lord who already justifies in Romans 8:33 — never present these as two competing or contradictory judicial acts.

§7.2 Shared OT motifs requiring a documented disambiguation strategy (do NOT collapse into one rendering)

Motif2 Timothy OccurrenceRomans Occurrence (quoting same/related OT text)Rule
”Foundation / sure footing”2 Timautes 2:19 (themelios, alluding to Numbers 16:5 and thematically echoing Isaiah 28:16’s “sure foundation”)Romans 9:33 / 10:11 (Loos 9:33/10:11), directly quoting Isaiah 28:16 (“stumbling stone… whoever believes will not be put to shame”)Do not collapse. Romans’s term (qhov/pob zeb ua rau dawm ceg, stumbling_block) names a negative, faith-testing obstacle; 2 Timothy’s themelios names a positive, stability-guaranteeing foundation. These require two distinct Hmong renderings. [TRANSLATOR REVIEW NEEDED: no existing TM entry for themelios/“foundation of God” — log for new TM entry, distinct from stumbling_block.]
”Name of the Lord”2 Timautes 2:19b (“nameth the name of the Lord,” probable composite allusion to Isaiah 26:13/Numbers 16:26)Romans 10:13 (Loos 10:13), quoting Joel 2:32 (“whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved”)Consistent prohibition, not consistent lexical identity. Both passages invoke “the name of the Lord,” but use different Greek verbs (onomazō, “to name,” vs. epikaleomai, “to call upon”). In both curricula, the ritual soul-calling verb hu is permanently forbidden for either verb. Render 2 Timothy 2:19b descriptively (e.g., anchored to lees paub/acknowledge) rather than reusing Romans 10:13’s salvation-invocation phrasing verbatim, since the two verses make different theological points (holiness-separation vs. saving invocation).
”The Lord will repay/render according to works”2 Timautes 4:14 (near-quoting Psalm 62:12/Proverbs 24:12/2 Samuel 3:39)Romans 12:19 (Loos 12:19), quoting Deuteronomy 32:35 (“Vengeance is mine, I will repay”)No dedicated TM entry currently exists in the Romans baseline for this “divine repayment” formula. [TRANSLATOR REVIEW NEEDED: recommend a single new shared TM entry — e.g., “Vajtswv/tus Tswv yuav muab tej uas tsim nyog rau [nws] raws li [nws] tej haujlwm” — logged for cross-curriculum TM-revision review so that both Romans 12:19 and 2 Timothy 4:14 render this recurring biblical formula identically going forward.
Living-sacrifice/libation sacrificial domain2 Timautes 4:6 (spendomai, libation)Romans 12:1 (Loos 12:1), thysia zōsa (living sacrifice)Both draw on the flagged fij sacrificial-offering domain (Critical/High risk in the Romans baseline). Keep teaching-distinct: Romans 12:1 = ongoing ethical devotion of all believers; 2 Timautes 4:6 = Paul’s unique, culminating martyrdom-image. Neither may be taught as a repeatable ritual offering, and 2 Timautes 4:6 carries the additional Critical libation-specific collision (nchuav cawv) documented in 08_core_glossary.md B36.
Reward vs. forensic righteousness2 Timautes 4:8 (“crown of righteousness”)Romans 3:21-26, 4:1-8, 5:1 (Loos 3:21-26, 4:1-8, 5:1), forensic justificationMaintain the doctrinal firewall explicitly: 2 Timothy 4:8’s righteousness-reward is for a believer already justified, rewarding faithful post-salvation service; it must never be taught or translated in a way that implies righteousness/justification itself is earned, which would contradict the Romans baseline’s Critical Justification-by-Faith doctrine.

§8. Full-Book Coverage Confirmation

All four chapters of 2 Timothy have been cross-referenced against the Old and New Testament witness and against the Romans Hmong Language Package baseline:

  • Chapter 1 — reviewed (§1): transmission chain typology, “not ashamed” intertextual echo, mercy/grace distinction, Onesiphorus mercy-formula.
  • Chapter 2 — reviewed (§2): Moses-Joshua succession typology, Union-with-Christ creedal parallel to Romans 6:8, Korah/foundation allusion, vessel metaphor parallel to Romans 9, diabolos typology.
  • Chapter 3 — reviewed (§3), including the opening of the core passage (3:14-17): Romans 1 vice-list parallel, Jannes/Jambres typology, Psalm 34:19 near-quotation, “man of God” prophetic title-lineage, theopneustos foundational NT parallel (2 Peter 1:20-21).
  • Chapter 4 — reviewed (§4), including the close of the core passage (4:1-5): Isaiah 52:7/Romans 10:15 gospel-herald parallel, Daniel 6/Psalm 22:21 lion-deliverance typology, Psalm 62:12/Romans 12:19 divine-repayment parallel, crown-of-righteousness reward theology fenced against justification-doctrine collapse.

No chapter was silently skipped; every chapter’s OT quotations, allusions, messianic references, typology, and Romans-curriculum parallels have been logged, consistent with the PRD Phase 1 full-book-coverage mandate.
