Welcome to the Library

What is this?

The Library publishes the doctrine-aware translation research behind tri-bible.ai, one language and book at a time — free to read and reuse.

How to navigate

Pick a language, then a book, in the sidebar. Each book has a Doctrine Analysis, a Core Glossary, and, for the language as a whole, a Comparative Theology and Regional Analysis. Use the search icon in the top nav to jump straight to a term or doctrine instead of browsing.

What the risk tiers mean

Every doctrine and glossary term is labeled with how easily it could be misread or mistranslated in that language's own cultural and religious context:

Critical
A wrong word choice here risks distorting core theology — always reviewed by a theologian before use.
High
A real, well-documented risk of confusion with another tradition or belief system — needs theologian review.
Medium
Worth a native speaker's second look, but not likely to distort the core meaning.
Low
Minor wording nuance — low risk of confusion either way.

Ephesians — Full Doctrine Matrix and Chapter Coverage Log (Hmong Language Package, Phase 1 Draft)

Part A: Doctrine Matrix (consistent with assets/doctrine_risk_registry.json)

#DoctrineSupporting Passages (Ephesians)RiskTranslation Risk Description (summary)Review Routing
1Salvation by Grace through Faith1:7; 2:1-10; 2:8-9Critical2:8’s thesis stacks txiaj ntsim (grace, never koob hmoov), kev cawm dim (saved, dim=escape parallels shamanic soul-rescue), and the pivotal ua rau muaj txoj sia nrog Khetos (made alive with Christ, 2:5, collides with hu plig soul-recall). Any drift collapses monergistic grace into ritual-technique revival.Human theologian
2Election and Predestination in Christ1:4-5; 1:11; 2:10; 4:1CriticalDense predestination language (1:4-5,11) sits one breath from eulogia/blessing (1:3), whose natural lexeme koob hmoov denotes impersonal ancestral/spirit-assigned fortune; compounded risk of collapsing personal divine election into fatalism. 4:1 “calling” carries identical risk.Human theologian
3The Church as the Body of Christ1:22-23; 2:19-22; 4:4-6; 4:11-16; 5:23; 5:29-30Hightaub hau (headship) risks bare-authority misreading without self-giving qualifier; lub tuam tsev dawb huv (holy temple, 2:21) risks confusion with household ancestral shrine (qhov txos); 4:4-6 sevenfold unity formula concentrates three Critical/High baseline terms in one verse-cluster.Human theologian
4Unity of Jews and Gentiles in One New Humanity2:11-22; 3:6Highib haiv neeg tshiab (one new humanity, 2:15) risks assimilation into familiar clan-alliance/intermarriage templates, flattening ontological new-creation claim; reconciliation term must carry both vertical and horizontal senses simultaneously (departure from Romans’ God-ward-only baseline usage).Human theologian
5The Mystery of Christ Revealed1:9; 3:1-13; 5:32; 6:19Highzaj lus zais cia (mystery) is lexically stable but structurally overloaded: bears both Gentile-inclusion (3:3-9) and marriage-typology (5:32) referents; risk of doctrinal conflation or one-sided teaching, not lexical collision.Human theologian
6Spiritual Warfare and the Armor of God2:2; 6:10-20CriticalHighest-risk doctrine in the book. Hmong cosmology’s elaborate malevolent-spirit hierarchy (household/nature/ancestral dab, aerial dab ntuj) closely parallels “prince of the power of the air” (2:2) and shamanic ritual combat; without rigorous contrast-teaching at every occurrence, Paul’s already-won-battle theology is assimilated into an ongoing ritual-negotiation framework.Human theologian
7Household Codes and Christ-Centered Relationships5:21-33; 6:1-9Hightxo hwjchim rau (submit) intersects an existing strongly patriarchal clan/household authority structure; isolating 5:22 from 5:21 (mutual submission) and 5:25 (sacrificial headship) risks reinforcing pre-existing one-directional authority. qhev (6:5-9) carries chattel-slavery connotation requiring the same catechetical care as the Romans baseline.Human theologian
8Gifts for Building Up the Church2:20; 3:5; 4:7-16Hightus cev Vajtswv lus (prophet) sits adjacent to the respected txiv neeb (shaman/spirit-medium) role; without mandatory catechetical distinction, congregations may reject the office or import shamanic (trance/divination/ancestor-consultation) expectations onto it. Threefold khoom plig sense-disambiguation (salvation itself / individual gift / ascension office) also required.Human theologian
9Walking in Newness of Life2:2; 2:10; 4:1; 4:17-24; 5:2; 5:8-18HighOld-self/new-self exchange (4:22-24) bridges to ceremonial dress-changing but risks a repeatable-costume misreading and conflation with the distinct corporate “one new humanity” (2:15); kom puv npo ntawm Vaj Ntsuj Plig (filled with the Spirit, 5:18) sits adjacent to shamanic trance-possession; Christ’s “fragrant offering” (5:2) reuses the fij domain shared with atonement and shamanic appeasement. Recurring taug kev (walk) metaphor (2:2,10; 4:1,17; 5:2,8,15) requires book-wide rendering consistency.Human theologian

Cross-cutting note: Every one of the nine assigned Ephesians doctrines carries Critical or High risk — identical to the Romans baseline’s finding that there is no Medium/Low-risk doctrine in a fully-scoped Pauline curriculum for this Language Package. All nine therefore route to mandatory human theologian review before publication; there is no automated-review or native-speaker-only bypass for any doctrine in this book, per assets/doctrine_risk_registry.json’s routing rule.

Part B: Chapter-by-Chapter and Section-by-Section Coverage Log

Per the PRD full-book-coverage mandate, every chapter of Ephesians is logged below. Chapters or sub-sections contributing no new doctrine-bearing terminology beyond material already covered are explicitly marked “reviewed — no new load-bearing content” rather than silently omitted.

Chapter 1 (1:1-23)

  • 1:1-2 (salutation): Standard Pauline greeting formula (Povlauj... tus Tub Txib ntawm Yexus Khetos... txiaj ntsim thiab kev thaj yeeb). Reviewed — no new doctrine-bearing content; reuses Romans-TM salutation vocabulary (tus Tub Txib, txiaj ntsim, kev thaj yeeb) exactly.
  • 1:3-14 (the berakah/doxology): Doctrines 1 (SGF), 2 (EP), 5 (MCR) all converge here. Key terms: eulogia/blessing (#49, NEW — CRITICAL FLAG), kev xaiv/election (#32), twb paub ua ntej lawm/predestine (#33), lus cog tseg/promise (#13), qub txeeg qub teg/inheritance (#52), raug ntxig cim/sealed (#53), thawj nqi them ua ntej/guarantee (#54), zaj lus zais cia/mystery (#46), Vajtswv lub siab nyiam/will of God (#42). This is the single densest doctrinal-risk concentration in the book (see Doctrine 2 above) and the primary textual anchor for the Election/Predestination doctrine’s Critical rating.
  • 1:15-23: Doctrine 3 (BC) and Doctrine 2 (EP) continue: Vajtswv hwjchim/power (#34), lub cev ntawm Khetos/body of Christ (#36), qhov puv npo/fullness (#55), taub hau/head (#56), the positive cosmic-rank list (#58, NEW — CRITICAL-adjacent, taught alongside #74 in ch.6). Establishes the Christ-supremacy frame that Doctrine 6 (Spiritual Warfare) will invoke in ch.6.

Chapter 2 (2:1-22) — contains the core passage (2:1-10)

  • 2:1-10 (CORE PASSAGE): Doctrine 1 (SGF) at full concentration; Doctrine 2 (EP) via v.10’s “prepared beforehand.” Key terms: txhaum/sin (#22), kev npau taws ntawm Vajtswv/wrath (#20), kev xav/kev ua raws li lub cev nqaij tawv/flesh-moral (#17), ua rau muaj txoj sia nrog Khetos/made alive with Christ (#63, NEW — CRITICAL FLAG), raug sawv nrog Khetos/raised with Christ (#64), raug kom zaum nrog Khetos/seated with Christ (#65), thaj chaw saum ntuj ceeb tsheej/heavenly places (#66), txiaj ntsim/grace (#10), kev cawm dim/saved (#35), khoom plig/gift (#59), tej haujlwm/works (#60) vs tej haujlwm zoo/good works (#61), yam Vajtswv tsim los/workmanship (#62), nyob hauv Khetos/in Christ (#41). This is the theological anchor of the entire Language Package and the primary justification for Doctrine 1’s Critical rating; every term above must be cross-checked against §2 of the forthcoming AI requirements document without exception.
  • 2:11-22: Doctrine 4 (UJG) at full concentration. Key terms: lwm Haiv Neeg/Gentiles (#14), cov Yudas/Jew (#15), kev txiav/circumcision (#19), tej lus cog tseg/covenants of promise (#67), cov ntshav ntawm Khetos/blood of Christ (#68), sab ntsa/phaj kem cais/dividing wall (#69), kev sib haum xeeb (nrog Vajtswv)/reconciliation extended to carry both vertical and horizontal senses (#26 doctrinal extension), ib haiv neeg tshiab/one new humanity (#70), tus ntoo khaub lig/cross (#71), kev nkag mus ze/access (#72), cov neeg npoj tebchaws ib yam / tsev neeg ntawm Vajtswv/fellow citizens-household of God (#73), pob zeb ncej taum/cornerstone and lub tuam tsev dawb huv/holy temple (#86).

Chapter 3 (3:1-21)

  • 3:1-13: Doctrine 5 (MCR) at full concentration; Doctrine 8 (GBC) via Paul’s stewardship. Key terms: zaj lus zais cia/mystery (#46, second major referent — Gentile inclusion, distinct from 5:32’s marriage referent), Vajtswv txoj kev npaj/kev tu/stewardship (#51), qub txeeg qub teg/inheritance re-anchored, Vajtswv hwjchim/power (#34).
  • 3:14-21 (Paul’s prayer/doxology): Doctrine 3 (BC) reinforcement: qhov puv npo/fullness (#55), kev hlub/love (#38). Reviewed — reuses established terms; no new collision surfaced.

Chapter 4 (4:1-32)

  • 4:1-6: Doctrine 2 (EP) via kev raug hu/calling (#88, same fate-collision family as election); Doctrine 3 (BC) via the sevenfold unity formula (ib lub cev, ib tug Vaj Ntsuj Plig, ib txoj kev cia siab... ib qho kev ntseeg, ib qho kev cai raus dej, ib tug Vajtswv) — the single densest concentration of Critical/High baseline terms in one verse-cluster outside ch.1-2, requiring the identical qualifier discipline documented at Romans 1:16-17.
  • 4:7-16: Doctrine 8 (GBC) at full concentration. Key terms: khoom plig/gift disambiguated three ways (#43, #59, #56-adjacent office-gifts), tus Tub Txib/apostle (#8), tus cev Vajtswv lus/prophet (#84, NEW — High, shamanic-medium adjacency), tus qhia Txoj Moo Zoo / tus yug yaj / xibhwb/evangelist-pastor-teacher (#85), lub cev ntawm Khetos/body of Christ, qhov puv npo/fullness.
  • 4:17-24: Doctrine 9 (WNL) at full concentration. Key terms: hloov siab tshiab/renewal of the mind (#47), tus qub / tus tshiab/old self-new self (#75), lub siab tawv/hardening (#48). Marks the doctrinal transition from corporate identity (ch.1-4a) to individual ethical walk (ch.4b-6).
  • 4:25-32: Doctrine 9 (WNL) continues with practical household/community ethics. Key terms: ua rau Vaj Ntsuj Plig nyuaj siab/grieve the Spirit (#76, mandatory Vaj prefix), kev zam txim/forgiveness (#50).

Chapter 5 (5:1-33)

  • 5:1-14: Doctrine 9 (WNL) and Doctrine 6 (SWA, light/darkness dualism anticipates ch.6). Key terms: khoom fij uas muaj tsw qab ncho/fragrant offering and sacrifice (#82, NEW — CRITICAL FLAG), dab mlom/idolater applied metaphorically to covetousness (#45), cov me nyuam / txiv ntawm qhov kaj/children-fruit of light (#83), lub Nceeg Vaj ntawm Vajtswv thiab Khetos/kingdom of Christ and God (#37).
  • 5:15-21: Doctrine 9 (WNL) climax. Key term: kom puv npo ntawm Vaj Ntsuj Plig/filled with the Spirit (#80, NEW — CRITICAL FLAG, trance-possession adjacency); introduces the mutual-submission frame (txo hwjchim rau, #81) governing the household code that follows.
  • 5:22-33: Doctrine 7 (HCR) at full concentration. Key terms: txo hwjchim rau/submit (#81), taub hau/head paired with self-sacrificial-love qualifier (#56), zaj lus zais cia/mystery re-applied to marriage-typology (#46, second referent, distinct from 3:1-13’s Gentile-inclusion referent — see Doctrine 5 above), kev hlub/love.

Chapter 6 (6:1-24)

  • 6:1-9: Doctrine 7 (HCR) continues into parent-child and master-slave relationships. Key terms: qhev/servant-slave (#9, reused from Romans TM, applied to household slaves), tus tswv (ntawm cov qhev)/human master (#90, kept lexically distinct from divine tus Tswv, #2).
  • 6:10-20: Doctrine 6 (SWA) at full concentration — the single highest collision-risk section in the book. Key terms: Ntxwg Nyoog/devil (#79, distinct from generic dab), cov thawj kav thiab cov muaj hwjchim uas nyob hauv qhov tsaus ntuj, thiab tej hwjchim phem sab ntsuj plig/cosmic powers of evil (#74, NEW — CRITICAL FLAG), cuab yeej ntaus rog ntawm Vajtswv/armor of God (#78), Vajtswv txoj kev ncaj ncees/righteousness (breastplate), kev cawm dim/salvation (helmet), Vajtswv Txoj Lus (uas hais tawm)/word of God-spoken (#77, disambiguated from written Vaj Lug Kub, #44), qhov tseeb/truth (belt), kev ntseeg/faith (shield). Cosmic powers of evil (#74) must be explicitly taught alongside the positive cosmic-rank list of 1:21 (#58) as two aspects of one doctrine: Christ’s supremacy over all powers, good or evil.
  • 6:21-24 (closing greeting): Reviewed — no new doctrine-bearing content. Standard epistolary closing (kev thaj yeeb... kev hlub... txiaj ntsim) reusing already-fixed Romans-TM vocabulary exactly.

Part C: Escalation Summary

All nine doctrines are Critical or High risk. Per §9 of the forthcoming Phase 2 AI Translation Requirements document (to be modeled on the Romans baseline’s 12_ai_translation_requirements.md §9), any generated content touching Doctrines 1, 2, or 6 (Critical tier) must be automatically routed to human theologian review with no automated-review bypass permitted. Doctrines 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9 (High tier) are likewise routed to human theologian review — not merely native-speaker review — because each carries a named, specific collision risk with Hmong traditional religion (shamanism, ancestor veneration, fate/hmoov, trance-possession, patriarchal household custom) rather than a generic comprehension gap alone.

Five terms are flagged as NEW — CRITICAL FLAG in analysis/08_core_glossary.md and require formal TM-revision review and theologian sign-off before permanent lock: eulogia/blessing (#49), synzōopoieō/made alive together with Christ (#63), cosmic powers of evil (#74), plērousthe en pneumati/filled with the Spirit (#80), and the fragrant offering and sacrifice of Christ (#82). These are treated with the same severity class as the Romans baseline’s grace, election_choose, propitiation_atoning_sacrifice, and holy_spirit entries.
