Doctrine Analysis
11 — Doctrine Analysis: Acts 1–28
Purpose and Method
This document maps every doctrine in doctrine_risk_registry.json (Acts extension) onto its full range of supporting passages across all 28 chapters of Acts, and separately walks the book chapter by chapter so that no chapter is silently skipped. The core passage, Acts 2:1–41 (Pentecost), is the theological anchor of the curriculum and receives the deepest treatment, but doctrinal coverage below spans the entire book as mandated.
Risk tiers (Critical / High / Medium / Low) and review routing are reproduced exactly as fixed in doctrine_risk_registry.json; this document adds no new doctrine and changes no tier. Terms are reused from the Romans translation_memory.json baseline and the Acts 08_core_glossary.md wherever established.
Section 1 — Master Doctrine Matrix (Whole-Book View)
| # | Doctrine | Kannada Doctrine Name | Risk | Key Terms | Primary Passages (Acts) | Translation Risk (grounded reason) | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | The Holy Spirit and Pentecost | ಪವಿತ್ರಾತ್ಮ ಮತ್ತು ಪಂತೆಕೊಸ್ತೆ | Critical | holy_spirit, pentecost, tongues_other_languages, tongues_of_fire, rushing_wind | 1:5,8; 2:1-4, 17-18; 5:3-4; 8:14-19; 10:44-47; 19:1-6 | The Spirit’s personal, divine, once-for-all outpouring must never use ಪರಮಾತ್ಮ (impersonal/monistic Universal Self) and must not be assimilated to folk oracle/trance-possession phenomena (ಮೈಮೇಲೆ ಬರುವುದು) where a village deity is believed to “come upon” a medium. Ananias/Sapphira (5:3-4) establishes the Spirit’s full personhood and deity and must not be softened to an impersonal force. | Human theologian |
| 2 | Spirit-Empowered Intelligible Speech (Tongues) | ಆತ್ಮನಿಂದ ಶಕ್ತಗೊಂಡ ಅರ್ಥವತ್ತಾದ ಭಾಷಣ | High | tongues_other_languages | 2:4-11 | Must render as real, humanly-recognizable foreign languages given for gospel proclamation (confirmed by v.6-11), never as ecstatic possession speech; a load-bearing collision point with Karnataka folk trance-possession practice. | Human theologian |
| 3 | The Gospel to Jews and Gentiles | ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರಿಗೂ ಅನ್ಯಜನಾಂಗದವರಿಗೂ ಸುವಾರ್ತೆ | High | gentiles, proselytes, unclean_common, god_shows_no_partiality, god_fearer | 2:9-11; 10:1-48; 11:1-18; 13:46-48; 15:1-29; 28:28 | Dismantling the ritual purity/impurity boundary has a sensitive caste-hierarchy parallel in India; must not be softened, per the baseline’s own caste-handling principle. | Human theologian |
| 4 | Universal Scope of the Gospel (Acts) | ಸುವಾರ್ತೆಯ ಸಾರ್ವತ್ರಿಕತೆ | High | salvation, called, name_of_jesus | 2:21; 2:39; 4:12; 10:34-35 | Retain unqualified universality (“everyone who calls,” “all who are far off”) without narrowing to ethnic/geographic sense; genuine partial resonance with Lingayat anti-caste history must not reduce the gospel to a social-reform parallel alone. | Human theologian |
| 5 | Repentance and Baptism | ಪಶ್ಚಾತ್ತಾಪ ಮತ್ತು ದೀಕ್ಷಾಸ್ನಾನ | Critical | repentance, baptism, sin | 2:38; 3:19; 8:36-38; 10:47-48; 11:18; 16:33; 19:1-6; 22:16 | ಪಶ್ಚಾತ್ತಾಪ must never be conflated with ಪ್ರಾಯಶ್ಚಿತ್ತ (ritual/expiatory penance). ದೀಕ್ಷಾಸ್ನಾನ must be distinguished from repeatable sacred-river/tank purification bathing and from guru-lineage ದೀಕ್ಷೆ initiation. | Human theologian |
| 6 | The Church as Community | ಸಮುದಾಯವಾಗಿ ಸಭೆ | Medium | church, fellowship, diaconal_service, elder, overseer, christian_name, synagogue | 2:42-47; 4:32-35; 6:1-6; 9:31; 11:26; 14:23, 27; 15:3-4, 22, 41; 20:17-38 | ”All things in common” sharing is a genuine partial resonance with Lingayat kayaka-dasoha ethic, but must be taught as voluntary, grace-motivated response, not duty earning standing. ಸಭೆ must stay distinct from ಸಭಾಮಂದಿರ (synagogue). | Native speaker review |
| 7 | Apostolic Authority and Miracles | ಅಪೊಸ್ತಲರ ಅಧಿಕಾರ ಮತ್ತು ಅದ್ಭುತಕಾರ್ಯಗಳು | High | apostle, signs_and_wonders, name_of_jesus, angel, exorcist | 2:22, 43; 3:1-10; 4:33; 5:12; 9:32-43; 12:1-19; 14:3; 19:11-12 | Must be distinguished from yogic siddhi and the contemporary “godman”/miracle-guru phenomenon; God’s authenticating action through messengers, never the messenger’s own attainment. The Name is not a mantra-formula (dramatized negatively at 19:13-16). | Human theologian |
| 8 | Persecution and Bold Witness | ಹಿಂಸೆ ಮತ್ತು ನಿರ್ಭಯ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿ | High | boldness, witness_martyr | 4:1-31; 5:17-42; 6:8-15; 7:54-60; 8:1-3; 12:1-4; 13:45-50; 14:19-20; 16:19-40; 21:27-28:31 | παρρησία denotes Spirit-empowered, unashamed public gospel speech under opposition, not generic confidence. μάρτυς must be tracked as it develops from “eyewitness testifier” (1:8; 2:32) toward the martyrdom-adjacent sense at 22:20, anchored in Stephen’s death (7:54-60); requires a standing cross-reference note. | Human theologian |
| 9 | Conversion of Paul | ಪೌಲನ ಮಾನಸಾಂತರ | Critical | the_way, chosen_instrument, called, election, casting_lots | 9:1-31; 22:1-21; 26:1-23 | Primary carrier of “the Way,” which collides with bhakti-mārga/jñāna-mārga/karma-mārga and the Lingayat shatsthala “path” framework; unqualified ಮಾರ್ಗ risks reducing Christ to one path among many. Paul as “chosen instrument” (9:15) must be pure grace-initiated election, not progressive spiritual ascent. | Human theologian |
| 10 | Justification apart from the Law | ನಿಯಮಶಾಸ್ತ್ರವಿಲ್ಲದೆ ನೀತಿವಂತರೆಂದು ನಿರ್ಣಯಿಸಲ್ಪಡುವುದು | Critical | justification, righteousness, law, circumcision, yoke_of_law, grace | 13:38-39; 15:1-29 | The Acts embodiment of Romans’ justification-by-faith argument; must reuse ನೀತಿವಂತರೆಂದು ನಿರ್ಣಯಿಸುವುದು, ನಿಯಮಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ, ಕೃಪೆ exactly as fixed in the Romans baseline, no deviation, mandatory cross-document consistency check. | Human theologian |
| 11 | The Great Commission Fulfilled | ಮಹಾ ಆಜ್ಞೆಯ ನೆರವೇರಿಕೆ | High | mission, gentiles, kingdom_of_god, unknown_god, idolatry, made_with_hands, in_him_we_live_move_have_being, artemis_of_ephesians, zeus_and_hermes | 1:8; 13:47; 17:16-31; 19:23-41; 28:23-31 | The Areopagus argument must be correction/fulfillment of pagan ignorance, not equivalence of deities per Hindu inclusivist “many names, one truth” formulas. | Human theologian |
| 12 | Deity and Lordship of Christ | ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನ ದೇವತ್ವ ಮತ್ತು ಕರ್ತೃತ್ವ | Critical | lord, son_of_god, glory | 2:33-36; 7:55-56; 9:5, 20; 10:36; 20:28 | The double-κύριος citation (2:34-35) must render both Father and Son as ಕರ್ತ, establishing co-equal lordship, not adoptionist promotion of a merely human figure (2:36). | Human theologian |
| 13 | Resurrection of Christ | ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನ ಪುನರುತ್ಥಾನ | Critical | resurrection, hades, corruption_decay | 1:22; 2:24-32; 4:2, 33; 17:18, 31-32; 23:6-8; 24:15, 21; 26:23 | CRITICAL: never ಪುನರ್ಜನ್ಮ. Bodily, historical, once-for-all; the Sadducee/Pharisee dispute (23:6-8) must not be rendered so as to suggest a category shared with reincarnation debates. | Human theologian |
| 14 | Ascension of Christ | ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನ ಆರೋಹಣ | Critical | ascension | 1:9-11 | Must not be assimilated to a mystic’s spiritual-ascent narrative (a live risk given the Lingayat shatsthala path’s culminating upward movement toward Aikya) nor to a revered teacher’s apotheosis “taken up” among the gods. | Human theologian |
| 15 | Exclusivity of Salvation in Christ | ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತ್ರ ರಕ್ಷಣೆ | Critical | salvation, name_of_jesus, lord | 4:12; 16:30-31 | The sharpest exclusivity claim in Acts must never be softened or rendered comparatively (“a name among names”); fixed, verbatim-consistent rendering required alongside Romans 10:9-13. | Human theologian |
| 16 | Election and Effectual Calling | ದೇವರ ಆಯ್ಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಪರಿಣಾಮಕಾರಿ ಕರೆ | High | election, called, calling, chosen_instrument | 1:24-26; 9:15; 13:2, 48; 16:10 | Must not be rendered with ಹಣೆಬರಹ (fatalism) or ವಿಧಿ (impersonal destiny), nor assimilated to the Lingayat devotee’s own progressive advance through the shatsthala stages. | Human theologian |
| 17 | Providence and Sovereignty of God | ದೇವರ ಪರಿಪಾಲನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾರ್ವಭೌಮತ್ವ | High | providence, god | 2:23; 4:27-28; 12:1-19; 17:26-28; 27:22-25 | God’s “definite plan and foreknowledge” (2:23) affirms divine ordination alongside human moral responsibility; this tension must not resolve into ಹಣೆಬರಹ fatalism nor into pure human autonomy. The shipwreck (27:22-25) must attribute the outcome to personal divine care, not karma or fate. | Human theologian |
| 18 | Spiritual Conflict and the Occult | ಆತ್ಮಿಕ ಸಂಘರ್ಷ ಮತ್ತು ಮಾಟಮಂತ್ರ | High | sorcery_magic, python_spirit, satan, exorcist | 8:9-24; 13:6-12; 16:16-18; 19:11-20 | Must draw a firm line between Spirit-given gifts (freely given, never purchased) and occult/magical power (acquired, manipulated, commercially exploited), given strong māṭa-mantra black-magic belief and astrology (ಜ್ಯೋತಿಷ್ಯ) in Karnataka. Satan must remain a single, personal, defeated-yet-active adversary, not one hostile deity among many. | Human theologian |
| 19 | Idolatry and True Worship | ವಿಗ್ರಹಾರಾಧನೆ ಮತ್ತು ನಿಜವಾದ ಆರಾಧನೆ | High | idolatry, made_with_hands, unknown_god, artemis_of_ephesians, zeus_and_hermes | 7:48-50; 14:11-18; 17:16-31; 19:23-41 | Applies directly to any human-made sacred structure/image; theologically essential but culturally sensitive given the centrality of temple/murti worship and goddess devotion (structurally parallel to the Artemis cult) in majority religious life. Must not be softened, taught with pastoral care not mockery. | Human theologian |
| 20 | Purity Boundary and Unity of Jews and Gentiles | ಶುದ್ಧತೆಯ ಗಡಿ ಮತ್ತು ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯ-ಅನ್ಯಜನಾಂಗದವರ ಏಕತೆ | High | unclean_common, god_shows_no_partiality | 10:1-48; 11:1-18; 15:1-29 | Peter’s vision dismantling κοινός directly confronts a caste-adjacent purity/impurity framework of real sensitivity in India; must be taught with full theological clarity, not softened. | Human theologian |
| 21 | Spirit-Filled Leadership and Church Offices | ಆತ್ಮಭರಿತ ನಾಯಕತ್ವ ಮತ್ತು ಸಭೆಯ ಹುದ್ದೆಗಳು | Medium | elder, overseer, diaconal_service, shepherd_flock | 6:1-6; 14:23; 20:17-35 | Delegated, accountable ministries appointed by the Spirit and the church, not statuses earned through personal ascetic/spiritual attainment as in a guru’s teaching lineage or a Sharana’s stage-progression. | Native speaker review |
| 22 | Prayer and Intercession (Acts) | ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಮಧ್ಯಸ್ಥಿಕೆ | Medium | intercession | 1:14; 4:24-31; 12:5-12; 16:25 | Direct, corporate access to God through Christ must be distinguished from bhakti puja/kirtane and from meditative engagement with the ishtalinga. | Native speaker review |
| 23 | Inspiration and Fulfillment of Prophecy (Acts) | ಪ್ರವಾದನೆಯ ಪ್ರೇರಣೆ ಮತ್ತು ನೆರವೇರಿಕೆ | High | prophecy, prophet, promise, visions_dreams | 1:16; 2:16-21; 3:18-24; 13:27, 32-33; 26:22-23; 28:25-27 | Linear, one-time historical fulfillment of OT promise, not cyclical yuga-based cosmology. ದರ್ಶನಗಳು (visions) requires a standing note distinguishing God-initiated revelatory disclosure from devotee-initiated darshan/image-viewing. | Human theologian |
| 24 | The Way as Exclusive Christian Identity | ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನ ಮಾರ್ಗವೆಂಬ ವಿಶೇಷ ಗುರುತು | Critical | the_way | 9:2; 19:9, 23; 22:4; 24:14, 22 | Without the mandatory qualifying gloss ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನ ಮಾರ್ಗ, unqualified ಮಾರ್ಗ collides directly with bhakti-mārga/jñāna-mārga/karma-mārga and the shatsthala “path,” reducing the church to one more optional path and undermining 4:12’s exclusivity claim. | Human theologian |
| 25 | ”In Him We Live and Move and Have Our Being” | ಆತನಲ್ಲಿ ನಾವು ಜೀವಿಸುತ್ತೇವೆ, ಚಲಿಸುತ್ತೇವೆ, ಇದ್ದೇವೆ | Critical | in_him_we_live_move_have_being, god | 17:28 | Reads as strongly panentheistic/monistic if mishandled — dangerously close to Aikya-merger language already flagged Critical in the Romans baseline for “salvation” and “god.” Must convey creaturely dependence on a distinct Creator. | Human theologian |
| 26 | Spiritual Gifts and the Holy Spirit’s Gift | ಆತ್ಮಿಕ ವರಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಪವಿತ್ರಾತ್ಮನ ವರ | High | spiritual_gifts, holy_spirit | 2:38; 8:18-20; 10:45; 19:6 | Simon Magus’s attempt to purchase the Spirit’s power (8:18-20) is the diagnostic negative case: never a merit-earned, purchasable, or self-attained acquisition analogous to yogic siddhi. | Human theologian |
| 27 | Conscience and Moral Accountability | ಮನಸ್ಸಾಕ್ಷಿ ಮತ್ತು ನೈತಿಕ ಹೊಣೆಗಾರಿಕೆ | Medium | conscience | 23:1; 24:16 | Personal moral faculty answerable directly to a personal God, distinct from impersonal karma-tracking. | Native speaker review |
| 28 | Eschatological Hope and Final Restoration | ಅಂತ್ಯಕಾಲದ ನಿರೀಕ್ಷೆ ಮತ್ತು ಅಂತಿಮ ಪುನಃಸ್ಥಾಪನೆ | Medium | restoration_of_all_things, times_of_refreshing, hades, corruption_decay | 2:25-31; 3:19-21; 24:15 | Final restoration must remain a single, future, Christ-centered consummation, not cyclical renewal within an ongoing cosmic time-cycle; ಪಾತಾಳ ಲೋಕ (Hades) must not be conflated with reincarnation-adjacent intermediate soul-journey concepts. | Native speaker review |
| 29 | Thanksgiving (Acts) | ಕೃತಜ್ಞತಾಸ್ತುತಿ | Low | thanksgiving | 27:35; 28:15 | Standard term; minor risk of over-ritualization. | Automated review |

Section 3 — Coverage Confirmation
All 28 chapters of Acts have been reviewed above; every chapter is mapped to at least one doctrine in the Master Doctrine Matrix (Section 1), and chapters carrying no newly introduced doctrine or term (e.g., Acts 18, Acts 25) are explicitly marked as reviewed-for-continuity rather than omitted. All 29 doctrines in doctrine_risk_registry.json are represented at least once in the chapter walkthrough, and no risk tier or review-routing assignment in this document departs from that registry.
This document extends 08_core_glossary.md and is consistent with assets/doctrine_risk_registry.json. It is the Phase 1 Step 4 deliverable and feeds directly into Phase 1 Step 5 (translation requirements document) and the eventual Phase 2 segment-processing pipeline.
Critical Risk Doctrines
The Holy Spirit and Pentecost
Kannada name: ಪವಿತ್ರಾತ್ಮ ಮತ್ತು ಪಂತೆಕೊಸ್ತೆ
Key terms: holy_spirit, pentecost, tongues_other_languages, tongues_of_fire, rushing_wind
Review routing: Human theologian
The Spirit’s personal, divine, once-for-all outpouring must never be rendered with ಪರಮಾತ್ಮ (impersonal/monistic Universal Self) and must not be assimilated to folk oracle/trance-possession phenomena (ಮೈಮೇಲೆ ಬರುವುದು) at village deity shrines, where a deity is believed to ‘come upon’ a medium. Ananias and Sapphira’s episode (5:3-4) additionally establishes the Spirit’s full personhood/deity, a key Trinitarian data point that must not be softened.
Repentance and Baptism
Kannada name: ಪಶ್ಚಾತ್ತಾಪ ಮತ್ತು ದೀಕ್ಷಾಸ್ನಾನ
Key terms: repentance, baptism, sin
Review routing: Human theologian
ಪಶ್ಚಾತ್ತಾಪ must never be conflated with ಪ್ರಾಯಶ್ಚಿತ್ತ, ritual/expiatory penance that itself removes guilt or offsets karmic debt. ದೀಕ್ಷಾಸ್ನಾನ must be distinguished from repeatable ritual-purification bathing at sacred rivers/tanks and from guru-lineage ದೀಕ್ಷೆ initiation; this is a one-time act of identification with Christ’s death and resurrection, not a repeatable rite or lineage entry.
Conversion of Paul
Kannada name: ಪೌಲನ ಮಾನಸಾಂತರ
Key terms: the_way, chosen_instrument, called, election, casting_lots
Review routing: Human theologian
Paul’s conversion narrative is the primary carrier of ‘the Way’ (ἡ ὁδός), which collides directly with bhakti-mārga/jñāna-mārga/karma-mārga and the Lingayat shatsthala ‘path’ framework; unqualified ಮಾರ್ಗ risks reducing exclusive faith in the risen Christ to one path among many recognized ways to liberation. God’s sovereign choice of a former persecutor as a ‘chosen instrument’ (9:15) must be read as pure grace-initiated election, not as the Lingayat devotee’s own progressive ascent through spiritual stages.
Justification apart from the Law
Kannada name: ನಿಯಮಶಾಸ್ತ್ರವಿಲ್ಲದೆ ನೀತಿವಂತರೆಂದು ನಿರ್ಣಯಿಸಲ್ಪಡುವುದು
Key terms: justification, righteousness, law, circumcision, yoke_of_law, grace
Review routing: Human theologian
Acts 13:38-39 and the Jerusalem Council’s resolution (15:11, ‘we believe that we will be saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus’) are the Acts embodiment of Romans’ justification-by-faith argument and must reuse ನೀತಿವಂತರೆಂದು ನಿರ್ಣಯಿಸುವುದು, ನಿಯಮಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ, and ಕೃಪೆ exactly as fixed in the Romans baseline, with no deviation and mandatory cross-document consistency check.
Deity and Lordship of Christ
Kannada name: ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನ ದೇವತ್ವ ಮತ್ತು ಕರ್ತೃತ್ವ
Key terms: lord, son_of_god, glory
Review routing: Human theologian
Acts 2:34-35’s double-κύριος citation of Psalm 110 must render both Father and Son as ಕರ್ತ so readers see two distinct persons sharing the title, establishing co-equal lordship, not a lesser lord elevated by a greater one. ‘God has made him… Lord and Christ’ (2:36) must not be read as adoptionist promotion of a merely human figure.
Resurrection of Christ
Kannada name: ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನ ಪುನರುತ್ಥಾನ
Key terms: resurrection, hades, corruption_decay
Review routing: Human theologian
CRITICAL: never ಪುನರ್ಜನ್ಮ. Bodily, historical, once-for-all; the Sadducee/Pharisee dispute (23:6-8) shows both ancient parties already agree resurrection means bodily return from death — this must not be rendered so as to suggest a category shared with reincarnation debates familiar in the Indian context.
Ascension of Christ
Kannada name: ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನ ಆರೋಹಣ
Key terms: ascension
Review routing: Human theologian
Christ’s bodily, historical, visible, once-for-all ascension must not be assimilated to a mystic’s spiritual-ascent narrative (a live risk given the Lingayat shatsthala path’s culminating upward movement toward Aikya) nor to a generic apotheosis of a revered teacher being ‘taken up’ among the gods; he remains a distinct person, promised to return bodily (1:11).
Exclusivity of Salvation in Christ
Kannada name: ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತ್ರ ರಕ್ಷಣೆ
Key terms: salvation, name_of_jesus, lord
Review routing: Human theologian
The sharpest exclusivity claim in Acts (‘there is no other name… by which we must be saved’) must never be softened, qualified, or rendered comparatively (‘a name among names’); must be rendered identically in force to Romans 10:9-13 and to Acts 16:30-31’s salvation-inquiry pair, per the baseline’s own principle for fixed salvation-confession verses.
The Way as Exclusive Christian Identity
Kannada name: ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನ ಮಾರ್ಗವೆಂಬ ವಿಶೇಷ ಗುರುತು
Key terms: the_way
Review routing: Human theologian
Unqualified ಮಾರ್ಗ collides directly with bhakti-mārga/jñāna-mārga/karma-mārga and the Lingayat shatsthala ‘path’ framework; without the mandatory qualifying gloss ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನ ಮಾರ್ಗ or unmistakable context, the early church is easily received as one more optional path among many recognized ways to the same ultimate goal, directly undermining Acts 4:12’s exclusivity claim.
”In Him We Live and Move and Have Our Being”
Kannada name: ಆತನಲ್ಲಿ ನಾವು ಜೀವಿಸುತ್ತೇವೆ, ಚಲಿಸುತ್ತೇವೆ, ಇದ್ದೇವೆ
Key terms: in_him_we_live_move_have_being, god
Review routing: Human theologian
Reads as strongly panentheistic/monistic if mishandled — dangerously close to the Veerashaiva Aikya language the Romans baseline already flags Critical for ‘salvation’ and ‘god,’ where the devotee’s being finally merges into and loses distinction within the divine. Must convey creaturely dependence on a distinct Creator, requiring the same Critical-tier handling and mandatory theologian review the baseline assigns to Aikya-adjacent risk passages.
High Risk Doctrines
Spirit-Empowered Intelligible Speech (Tongues)
Kannada name: ಆತ್ಮನಿಂದ ಶಕ್ತಗೊಂಡ ಅರ್ಥವತ್ತಾದ ಭಾಷಣ
Key terms: tongues_other_languages
Review routing: Human theologian
Must be taught as real, humanly-recognizable foreign languages given for gospel proclamation (confirmed by v.6-11), not ecstatic possession speech or a private prayer-language divorced from intelligible content — a genuinely load-bearing collision point given Karnataka’s folk trance-possession practices.
The Gospel to Jews and Gentiles
Kannada name: ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರಿಗೂ ಅನ್ಯಜನಾಂಗದವರಿಗೂ ಸುವಾರ್ತೆ
Key terms: gentiles, proselytes, unclean_common, god_shows_no_partiality, god_fearer
Review routing: Human theologian
The dismantling of the ritual purity/impurity boundary (κοινός, 10:14-15, 28) has an unusually sensitive parallel in India, where ritual purity classifications have historically undergirded caste hierarchy; must not be softened, handled with the same pastoral care the Romans baseline recommends for caste-related material.
Universal Scope of the Gospel (Acts)
Kannada name: ಸುವಾರ್ತೆಯ ಸಾರ್ವತ್ರಿಕತೆ
Key terms: salvation, called, name_of_jesus
Review routing: Human theologian
As in the Romans baseline’s ‘no caste barrier’ teaching, retain unqualified universality (‘everyone who calls,’ ‘all who are far off’) without narrowing to a merely geographic or ethnic sense; genuine resonance exists with the historic Lingayat rejection of caste hierarchy, but the gospel’s universality must not be reduced to a social-reform parallel alone.
Apostolic Authority and Miracles
Kannada name: ಅಪೊಸ್ತಲರ ಅಧಿಕಾರ ಮತ್ತು ಅದ್ಭುತಕಾರ್ಯಗಳು
Key terms: apostle, signs_and_wonders, name_of_jesus, angel, exorcist
Review routing: Human theologian
Signs and wonders must be distinguished from the yogic siddhi (attained supernatural power) framework already flagged in the Romans baseline and from the contemporary ‘godman’/miracle-guru phenomenon; these are God’s authenticating action through messengers pointing to Christ, never evidence of the messenger’s own spiritual attainment. The Name (ὄνομα) must not be treated as a mantra-formula effective by correct repetition (dramatized negatively at 19:13-16).
Persecution and Bold Witness
Kannada name: ಹಿಂಸೆ ಮತ್ತು ನಿರ್ಭಯ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿ
Key terms: boldness, witness_martyr
Review routing: Human theologian
παρρησία denotes Spirit-empowered, unashamed public gospel speech under opposition, not generic social confidence or rhetorical skill. μάρτυς must be tracked across the whole book as it develops from ‘eyewitness testifier’ (1:8; 2:32) toward the martyrdom-adjacent sense fully present by 22:20, with Stephen’s death (7:54-60) as the defining narrative event; ಸಾಕ್ಷಿ alone does not automatically carry this later nuance and requires a standing cross-reference note.
The Great Commission Fulfilled
Kannada name: ಮಹಾ ಆಜ್ಞೆಯ ನೆರವೇರಿಕೆ
Key terms: mission, gentiles, kingdom_of_god, unknown_god, idolatry, made_with_hands, in_him_we_live_move_have_being, artemis_of_ephesians, zeus_and_hermes
Review routing: Human theologian
Paul’s Areopagus argument (ch.17) must be presented as correction and fulfillment of pagan ignorance, not equivalence of deities per Hindu inclusivist ‘many names, one truth’ formulas; 17:28’s ‘in him we live and move and have our being’ carries a Critical-tier Aikya-adjacent risk of its own (see below) and must convey creaturely dependence, not ontological merger.
Election and Effectual Calling
Kannada name: ದೇವರ ಆಯ್ಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಪರಿಣಾಮಕಾರಿ ಕರೆ
Key terms: election, called, calling, chosen_instrument
Review routing: Human theologian
God’s sovereign, personal choice (of Matthias by lot, of Paul as a ‘chosen instrument,’ of believers ‘appointed to eternal life’ at 13:48) must not be rendered with ಹಣೆಬರಹ (fatalism) or ವಿಧಿ (impersonal destiny), nor assimilated to the Lingayat devotee’s own progressive advance through the shatsthala stages.
Providence and Sovereignty of God
Kannada name: ದೇವರ ಪರಿಪಾಲನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾರ್ವಭೌಮತ್ವ
Key terms: providence, god
Review routing: Human theologian
God’s ‘definite plan and foreknowledge’ in the crucifixion (2:23) simultaneously affirms divine ordination and human moral responsibility (‘you crucified… by the hands of lawless men’) — this tension must be preserved, not resolved into either ಹಣೆಬರಹ fatalism or pure human autonomy. The shipwreck narrative (27:22-25) must attribute the outcome to God’s personal, purposive care communicated through an angel, not to an impersonal law of karma or a ‘fated’ voyage.
Spiritual Conflict and the Occult
Kannada name: ಆತ್ಮಿಕ ಸಂಘರ್ಷ ಮತ್ತು ಮಾಟಮಂತ್ರ
Key terms: sorcery_magic, python_spirit, satan, exorcist
Review routing: Human theologian
Must draw a firm categorical line between Spirit-given gifts (freely given, never purchased or transactional) and occult/magical power (acquired, manipulated, commercially exploited), given the strong cultural presence of māṭa-mantra black-magic belief, oracle/spirit-medium practices, and astrology (ಜ್ಯೋತಿಷ್ಯ) in Karnataka. Satan must remain a single, personal, defeated-yet-active adversary, not one hostile deity among many nor casually equated with a specific folk-demon figure.
Idolatry and True Worship
Kannada name: ವಿಗ್ರಹಾರಾಧನೆ ಮತ್ತು ನಿಜವಾದ ಆರಾಧನೆ
Key terms: idolatry, made_with_hands, unknown_god, artemis_of_ephesians, zeus_and_hermes
Review routing: Human theologian
Stephen’s ‘made with hands’ critique (7:48) and Paul’s Athens/Ephesus material apply directly to any human-constructed sacred structure or image as a container for the divine; theologically essential but culturally sensitive where temple/murti worship and prominent goddess devotion (structurally parallel to the Artemis cult) are central to majority religious and economic life. Must be rendered faithfully without softening, taught with pastoral care rather than mockery.
Purity Boundary and Unity of Jews and Gentiles
Kannada name: ಶುದ್ಧತೆಯ ಗಡಿ ಮತ್ತು ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯ-ಅನ್ಯಜನಾಂಗದವರ ಏಕತೆ
Key terms: unclean_common, god_shows_no_partiality
Review routing: Human theologian
Peter’s vision dismantling the κοινός (ritually common/unclean) boundary directly confronts a caste-adjacent purity/impurity framework of real sensitivity in the Indian context; must be taught with full theological clarity, not softened, per the baseline’s own principle for caste-related material.
Inspiration and Fulfillment of Prophecy (Acts)
Kannada name: ಪ್ರವಾದನೆಯ ಪ್ರೇರಣೆ ಮತ್ತು ನೆರವೇರಿಕೆ
Key terms: prophecy, prophet, promise, visions_dreams
Review routing: Human theologian
Linear, one-time historical fulfillment of OT promise, not the cyclical yuga-based cosmology of mainstream Hindu time-reckoning. ದರ್ಶನಗಳು (visions) requires a standing translator note distinguishing God-initiated revelatory disclosure from devotee-initiated darshan/image-viewing practice.
Spiritual Gifts and the Holy Spirit’s Gift
Kannada name: ಆತ್ಮಿಕ ವರಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಪವಿತ್ರಾತ್ಮನ ವರ
Key terms: spiritual_gifts, holy_spirit
Review routing: Human theologian
Simon Magus’s attempt to purchase the Spirit’s power (8:18-20) is the diagnostic negative case: the Spirit’s gift must never be read as a merit-earned, purchasable, or self-attained acquisition analogous to yogic siddhi.
Medium Risk Doctrines
The Church as Community
Kannada name: ಸಮುದಾಯವಾಗಿ ಸಭೆ
Key terms: church, fellowship, diaconal_service, elder, overseer, christian_name, synagogue
Review routing: Native speaker review
The ‘all things in common’ sharing (2:44; 4:32) is a genuine point of partial cultural resonance with the Lingayat kayaka-dasoha ethic of sacred work and communal sharing, but must be taught as a voluntary, grace-motivated response flowing from transformed hearts, not a religious duty that itself earns standing before God. ಸಭೆ must also be kept distinct from ಸಭಾಮಂದಿರ (synagogue) throughout.
Spirit-Filled Leadership and Church Offices
Kannada name: ಆತ್ಮಭರಿತ ನಾಯಕತ್ವ ಮತ್ತು ಸಭೆಯ ಹುದ್ದೆಗಳು
Key terms: elder, overseer, diaconal_service, shepherd_flock
Review routing: Native speaker review
Elder/overseer/deacon offices are delegated, accountable ministries appointed by the Spirit and the church, not statuses earned through personal ascetic or spiritual attainment as in a guru’s teaching lineage or a Sharana’s progression through spiritual stages.
Prayer and Intercession (Acts)
Kannada name: ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಮಧ್ಯಸ್ಥಿಕೆ
Key terms: intercession
Review routing: Native speaker review
The church’s direct, corporate access to God through Christ must be distinguished from bhakti puja/kirtane directed toward a chosen personal deity and from meditative engagement with the ishtalinga in Lingayat practice.
Conscience and Moral Accountability
Kannada name: ಮನಸ್ಸಾಕ್ಷಿ ಮತ್ತು ನೈತಿಕ ಹೊಣೆಗಾರಿಕೆ
Key terms: conscience
Review routing: Native speaker review
Conscience must be presented as a personal moral faculty answerable directly to a personal God, distinct from an impersonal karma-tracking mechanism that records merit/demerit without relational accountability.
Eschatological Hope and Final Restoration
Kannada name: ಅಂತ್ಯಕಾಲದ ನಿರೀಕ್ಷೆ ಮತ್ತು ಅಂತಿಮ ಪುನಃಸ್ಥಾಪನೆ
Key terms: restoration_of_all_things, times_of_refreshing, hades, corruption_decay
Review routing: Native speaker review
Final restoration must remain a single, future, Christ-centered consummation rather than a cyclical renewal within an ongoing cosmic time-cycle; ಪಾತಾಳ ಲೋಕ (Hades) must not be conflated with reincarnation-adjacent intermediate soul-journey concepts.
Low Risk Doctrines
Thanksgiving (Acts)
Kannada name: ಕೃತಜ್ಞತಾಸ್ತುತಿ
Key terms: thanksgiving
Review routing: Automated review
Standard term; minor risk of over-ritualization, consistent with the Romans baseline’s Low-risk treatment.
