Doctrine Analysis
Doctrine Analysis: Ephesians (Full Book, Chapters 1–6)
Purpose and Method
This document provides the complete doctrine matrix for Ephesians, chapter by chapter, cross-referenced against doctrine_risk_registry.json (Ephesians). Every doctrine listed here uses the same doctrine key, Kannada doctrine name, and risk tier as the registry — this document does not introduce new tiers or renamed doctrines; it maps each registry doctrine onto its full chapter footprint across the book and gives translators/reviewers a single chapter-ordered reference alongside the registry’s doctrine-ordered reference.
Per the full-book coverage mandate, every chapter of Ephesians (1–6) is analyzed in full. Where a chapter’s content is doctrinally load-bearing, its doctrines, passages, and risk notes are detailed. Where a chapter’s material is largely a restatement or low-risk continuation of doctrine already covered elsewhere, this is explicitly noted rather than silently omitted.
The core passage, Ephesians 2:1–10, is the theological anchor of this curriculum (Salvation by Grace through Faith; Good Works as Fruit) but is not the boundary of this analysis — Chapters 1, 3, 4, 5, and 6 carry independent doctrinal weight (election/predestination, mystery, unity, headship, household codes, spiritual warfare) that must receive equal translation-requirements rigor.
Chapter 1 — Election, Predestination, Redemption, and the Church as Christ’s Body/Fullness
Chapter summary: Paul’s opening doxology (1:3–14) is the single densest concentration of election, predestination, redemption, sealing, and inheritance language in the New Testament, followed by a prayer (1:15–19) and a Christological/ecclesiological climax (1:20–23) establishing Christ’s supreme lordship over all powers and his headship over the church, described as his “body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.”
| Doctrine | Kannada Doctrine Name | Risk | Supporting Passages (Ephesians) | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Election and Predestination in Christ | ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನಲ್ಲಿ ದೇವರ ಆಯ್ಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಮೊದಲೇ ನೇಮಕ | Critical | 1:4-5, 1:11-12 | ಮೊದಲೇ ನೇಮಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ must never collapse into ಹಣೆಬರಹ (fatalism idiom) or karma-law framing; this is the Father’s personal, relational, purposive choice, paired with ದೇವರ ಆಯ್ಕೆ. Highest doctrinal density of election language in the whole curriculum occurs here. | Human theologian |
| Redemption Through Christ’s Blood | ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನ ರಕ್ತದ ಮೂಲಕ ವಿಮೋಚನೆ | Critical | 1:7, 1:14 | ವಿಮೋಚನೆ is a near-synonym of ಮೋಕ್ಷ in general usage; must be anchored explicitly to “through his blood” and to a personal Redeemer-redeemed relationship that continues, never a release into an impersonal cycle-ending state. | Human theologian |
| Gospel | ಸುವಾರ್ತೆ | High | 1:13 (“word of truth, the gospel of your salvation”) | Must read as the one specific historic proclamation, not one devotional teaching among several regional traditions. | Human theologian |
| The Mystery of Christ Revealed | ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನ ರಹಸ್ಯದ ಪ್ರಕಟನೆ | Critical | 1:9 (“making known to us the mystery of his will”) | First occurrence of the book’s central ರಹಸ್ಯ term; fixed qualifying phrase ದೇವರು ಪ್ರಕಟಿಸಿದ ರಹಸ್ಯ required from this first instance onward — sets the pattern for chs. 3, 5, 6. | Human theologian |
| Deity and Lordship of Christ | ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನ ದೇವತ್ವ ಮತ್ತು ಕರ್ತೃತ್ವ | Critical | 1:2-3, 1:20-23 | Christ “far above all rule and authority” and “all things under his feet” establishes exclusive, cosmic Lordship before ch. 6’s spiritual-warfare development; ಕರ್ತ reserved exclusively for Christ throughout. | Human theologian |
| The Church as the Body of Christ | ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನ ದೇಹವಾದ ಸಭೆ | Critical | 1:22-23 (“head over all things to the church, his body, the fullness of him”) | First occurrence of “fullness” (ಪರಿಪೂರ್ಣತೆ); risk of Advaitic/Vedantic monistic-fullness misreading. First occurrence of headship language extended into ecclesiology. | Human theologian |
| Headship of Christ over the Church | ಸಭೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನ ಶಿರಸ್ಸುತ್ವ | High | 1:22 | Establishes the ecclesial sense of ತಲೆ/ಶಿರಸ್ಸು before the household-code sense appears in ch. 5; the two senses must be distinguishable in back-translation. | Human theologian |
| Adoption and Inheritance in God’s Family | ದೇವರ ಕುಟುಂಬದಲ್ಲಿ ದತ್ತು ಪುತ್ರತ್ವ ಮತ್ತು ಬಾಧ್ಯತೆ | High | 1:5 (“predestined for adoption”), 1:11, 1:14 | ದತ್ತು ಪುತ್ರತ್ವ and ಬಾಧ್ಯತೆ introduced together; “guarantee/pledge” (ಮುಂಗಡ) of the Spirit as legal certainty, not superstitious token. | Human theologian |
| Assurance of Salvation | ರಕ್ಷಣೆಯ ಭರವಸೆ | High | 1:13-14 (“sealed with the promised Holy Spirit…guarantee of our inheritance”) | Sealing and guarantee language must convey settled legal certainty, distinct from the incremental, attainment-based progress of the Lingayat shatsthala path. | Human theologian |
| The Holy Spirit: Sealing, Indwelling, Grieving, and Filling | ಪವಿತ್ರಾತ್ಮನ ಮುದ್ರೆ, ವಾಸ, ದುಃಖ ಮತ್ತು ಭರ್ತಿ | Critical | 1:13-14 | First occurrence of “sealed with the Holy Spirit”; ಪವಿತ್ರಾತ್ಮ never ಪರಮಾತ್ಮ. | Human theologian |
| Spiritual Warfare and the Armor of God | ಆತ್ಮಿಕ ಯುದ್ಧ ಮತ್ತು ದೇವರ ಪೂರ್ಣ ಕವಚ | High | 1:20-21 (“far above all rule and authority and power and dominion”) | Establishes Christ’s supreme authority over hostile powers before ch. 6 develops the warfare metaphor; sets the “already-defeated enemy” frame that ch. 6 must not contradict. | Human theologian |
| Sainthood (All Believers Called Holy) | ಪವಿತ್ರ ಜನರಾಗಿ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ವಿಶ್ವಾಸಿಗಳು | High | 1:1 (“to the saints…in Ephesus”), 1:18 | Opening address; ಪವಿತ್ರ ಜನರು never ಶರಣರು. | Human theologian |
| Prayer and Intercession | ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಮಧ್ಯಸ್ಥಿಕೆ | Medium | 1:16-19 | Paul’s prayer report; direct access to the Father through Christ. | Native speaker review |
| Thanksgiving | ಕೃತಜ್ಞತಾಸ್ತುತಿ | Low | 1:16 | Standard low-risk term. | Automated review |
Chapter-level note: Chapter 1 alone carries five of the book’s twelve Critical-tier doctrines. This is the single highest-density chapter in the curriculum and should be prioritized for theologian review capacity planning in Phase 2.
Chapter 2 — Core Passage: Dead in Sin, Saved by Grace, Union with Christ, and the Reconciled New Humanity
Chapter summary: Contains the curriculum’s core passage (2:1–10): humanity’s condition (“dead in trespasses and sins,” “by nature children of wrath”), God’s saving initiative (“by grace you have been saved through faith…not a result of works”), and the purpose of salvation (“created in Christ Jesus for good works”). The chapter continues into the reconciliation of Jew and Gentile through the cross (2:11–22), culminating in the church as God’s holy temple.
| Doctrine | Kannada Doctrine Name | Risk | Supporting Passages (Ephesians) | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Universal Human Accountability (Dead in Sin) | ಪಾಪದಲ್ಲಿ ಸತ್ತ ಸಾರ್ವತ್ರಿಕ ಮಾನವ ಹೊಣೆಗಾರಿಕೆ | High | 2:1-3 | ಸತ್ತವರು must convey total incapacity, not dormancy compatible with bhakti-awakening or latent-potential frameworks; ಸ್ವಭಾವತಃ (by nature) preserves inherited universal condition. Genuine partial resonance with Lingayat anti-caste teaching, but doctrinal ground (inherited guilt before a personal God) differs. | Human theologian |
| Salvation by Grace through Faith | ಕೃಪೆಯಿಂದ ನಂಬಿಕೆಯ ಮೂಲಕ ರಕ್ಷಣೆ | Critical (core passage) | 2:1-10, esp. 2:4-5, 2:8-9 | This is the curriculum’s thesis passage, parallel in weight to Romans 1:16-17; must be rendered identically wherever quoted elsewhere in the curriculum. ಕೃಪೆ, ನಂಬಿಕೆ, ರಕ್ಷಣೆ reused exactly; “not your own doing” (ನಿಮ್ಮಿಂದಲ್ಲ) is the theological center of gravity, opposing both karma-merit economy and Lingayat kayaka-dasoha ethic. | Human theologian |
| Good Works as Fruit, Not Foundation, of Salvation | ರಕ್ಷಣೆಯ ಫಲವಾಗಿ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳು, ಅಡಿಪಾಯವಲ್ಲ | Critical | 2:9-10 | ἔργα → ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳು, never ಕರ್ಮಗಳು, to avoid reinforcing rather than excluding a karma-law reading in the very verse that excludes works as a ground of salvation. Sequence (grace/new creation first, works following) must never be reversed. | Human theologian |
| Union with Christ (Made Alive, Raised, and Seated Together) | ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಐಕ್ಯವಲ್ಲದ ಆದರೆ ಆಪ್ತ ಸಂಬಂಧ | Critical | 2:5-7 | Built on ಪುನರುತ್ಥಾನ root; distinct risk of assimilation into Veerashaiva Aikya (final merger/dissolution of identity) at “seated with him in the heavenly places.” Must be taught as shared exalted status while remaining a distinct person in relationship. | Human theologian |
| Unity of Jews and Gentiles in One New Humanity | ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರು ಮತ್ತು ಅನ್ಯಜನಾಂಗದವರ ಏಕತೆ — ಒಂದೇ ಹೊಸ ಮನುಷ್ಯ | Critical | 2:11-22 | Double risk: (1) “unity”/“one new man” must render ಏಕತೆ, never ಐಕ್ಯತೆ; (2) “dividing wall” imagery resonates strongly with Karnataka’s caste-based spatial/ritual exclusion history and the Lingayat reform movement’s rejection of such barriers — genuine partial cultural contact, but the text’s stated ground (Christ’s cross/flesh, 2:14-16) must remain explicit, not softened into a generic borrowed social-equality ethic. | Human theologian |
| Reconciliation and Access to God | ದೇವರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸಂಧಾನ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರವೇಶ | High | 2:16, 2:18 | ಸಂಧಾನ must convey unilateral accomplishment by the cross, not a negotiated truce between equals. ಪ್ರವೇಶ (access) is a positive-resonance point against historically caste-restricted ritual access. | Human theologian |
| The Church as the Body of Christ | ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನ ದೇಹವಾದ ಸಭೆ | Critical | 2:16, 2:21-22 (“holy temple,” “dwelling place for God”) | ಪವಿತ್ರ ಆಲಯ deliberately avoids standard Hindu-temple vocabulary (ದೇವಾಲಯ/ಗುಡಿ) already forbidden for “church” in the Romans baseline; residual ದೇವ- root proximity still requires a translator note. | Human theologian |
| Apostleship and Prophetic Foundation of the Church | ಸಭೆಯ ಅಪೊಸ್ತಲಿಕ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರವಾದಿಕ ಅಸ್ತಿವಾರ | Medium | 2:20 | ಅಪೊಸ್ತಲ / ಪ್ರವಾದಿ distinguished from the Lingayat ಜಂಗಮ office or a generic guru role. | Native speaker review |
| Assurance of Salvation | ರಕ್ಷಣೆಯ ಭರವಸೆ | High | 2:5, 2:8 | ”By grace you have been saved” (perfect tense in Greek) — settled, completed status, not provisional or incremental. | Human theologian |
| Walking in Newness of Life | ಹೊಸ ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯುವುದು | High | 2:2 (“walked…following the course of this world”), 2:10 (“good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them”) | First two of seven “walk” occurrences in the book; ನಡೆಯುವುದು must render identically at every occurrence across chs. 2, 4, 5. Not one mārga among several. | Human theologian |
Chapter-level note: Chapter 2 is the doctrinal and translation-requirements center of gravity for the whole curriculum, carrying the core passage plus five further Critical/High doctrines. Every segment in 2:1–10 should be treated as requiring mandatory theologian review regardless of individual term risk scores, consistent with the AI requirements’ escalation rule for salvation/grace-versus-works segments.
Chapter 3 — The Mystery Made Known to the Gentiles, Paul’s Stewardship, and Prayer for Empowered Love
Chapter summary: Paul explains his apostolic commission as steward of the mystery now revealed — that Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ. The chapter closes with a prayer for the church to grasp the love of Christ and be filled with the fullness of God, and a doxology on God’s power.
| Doctrine | Kannada Doctrine Name | Risk | Supporting Passages (Ephesians) | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Mystery of Christ Revealed | ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನ ರಹಸ್ಯದ ಪ್ರಕಟನೆ | Critical | 3:3-9 (“mystery…hidden for ages…now revealed”) | Central chapter for this doctrine; every occurrence (3:3, 3:4, 3:6, 3:9) requires the fixed qualifying phrase, not bare ರಹಸ್ಯ, given the term’s strong esoteric-transmission associations in Vedantic guru-śiṣya and Lingayat vachana traditions. | Human theologian |
| Unity of Jews and Gentiles in One New Humanity | ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರು ಮತ್ತು ಅನ್ಯಜನಾಂಗದವರ ಏಕತೆ | Critical | 3:6 (“fellow heirs, members of the same body, and partakers of the promise”) | Direct restatement/application of the ch. 2 doctrine; ಸಹ ಬಾಧ್ಯಸ್ಥರು (fellow heirs) reinforces no second-tier inheritance. | Human theologian |
| Gospel | ಸುವಾರ್ತೆ | High | 3:6 | Gentile inclusion is itself gospel content, not an afterthought. | Human theologian |
| Adoption and Inheritance in God’s Family | ದೇವರ ಕುಟುಂಬದಲ್ಲಿ ದತ್ತು ಪುತ್ರತ್ವ ಮತ್ತು ಬಾಧ್ಯತೆ | High | 3:6 | Applies the ch. 1 inheritance doctrine specifically to Gentile believers. | Human theologian |
| The Church as the Body of Christ | ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನ ದೇಹವಾದ ಸಭೆ | Critical | 3:19 (“filled with all the fullness of God”) | Second major occurrence of ಪರಿಪೂರ್ಣತೆ; same Advaitic/monistic-misreading risk as 1:23, now applied to individual believers (“you”), requiring careful distinction between corporate and individual fullness language. | Human theologian |
| Spiritual Warfare and the Armor of God | ಆತ್ಮಿಕ ಯುದ್ಧ ಮತ್ತು ದೇವರ ಪೂರ್ಣ ಕವಚ | High | 3:10 (“so that through the church the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places”) | Introduces the ಪ್ರಭುತ್ವಗಳು/ಅಧಿಕಾರಗಳು vocabulary ahead of its full development in ch. 6; the church’s existence itself displays God’s wisdom to these powers. | Human theologian |
| Mission to the Nations and Evangelism | ಜನಾಂಗಗಳಿಗೆ ಮಿಷನ್ ಮತ್ತು ಸುವಾರ್ತಾ ಪ್ರಸಾರ | Medium | 3:8 (“preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ”) | ಸುವಾರ್ತಾ ಪ್ರಸಾರ preferred over ಮಿಷನ್ given colonial-era connotations; culturally sensitive framing needed given regional pride in Karnataka’s own reform/devotional traditions. | Native speaker review |
| Christian Fellowship | ಕ್ರೈಸ್ತ ಅನ್ಯೋನ್ಯತೆ | Low | 3:9 (“fellowship of the mystery”) | Shared participation, not mere social community. | Automated review |
| Prayer and Intercession | ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಮಧ್ಯಸ್ಥಿಕೆ | Medium | 3:14-19 | Direct access to the Father through Christ by one Spirit, distinguished from puja/kirtane directed to a chosen personal deity. | Native speaker review |
Chapter-level note: Chapter 3 functions as the theological hinge of the book (mystery revealed → practical outworking begins ch. 4); its translation risk load is almost entirely carried by the ಪ್ರಕಟಿಸಿದ ರಹಸ್ಯ fixed phrase and by consistent reuse of ch. 1–2 doctrine vocabulary rather than new terms.
Chapter 4 — One Body, Gift-Offices, and the Old Self/New Self Contrast
Chapter summary: Opens the practical (“therefore, walk”) section of the letter. Establishes the sevenfold unity of the Spirit (4:1–6), Christ’s gifts of church offices for equipping the saints (4:7–16), and the contrast between the old self (“walked” as Gentiles walk) and the new self created after God’s likeness (4:17–32).
| Doctrine | Kannada Doctrine Name | Risk | Supporting Passages (Ephesians) | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Church as the Body of Christ | ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನ ದೇಹವಾದ ಸಭೆ | Critical | 4:4 (“one body and one Spirit”), 4:12-16 (“build up the body of Christ…grow up in every way into him who is the head”) | Highest-density “one body”/unity passage in the book; ಏಕತೆ required at every occurrence of 4:3-4, 4:13, 4:16 — never ಐಕ್ಯತೆ. Third major occurrence of “fullness” (4:13). | Human theologian |
| Headship of Christ over the Church | ಸಭೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನ ಶಿರಸ್ಸುತ್ವ | High | 4:15-16 (“grow up in every way into him who is the head”) | Life-giving, authoritative headship of a body that remains distinct from him, not a guru-lineage relationship. | Human theologian |
| Gifts for Building Up the Church | ಸಭೆಯ ಭಕ್ತಿವೃದ್ಧಿಗಾಗಿ ವರಗಳು | Medium | 4:7-13 (“apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers…to equip the saints”) | Gift-offices (ಸಭಾಪಾಲಕರು, ಬೋಧಕರು, ಸುವಾರ್ತಿಕರು) are Christ’s gifts, not offices attained by religious achievement; ಸಭಾಪಾಲಕರು must be guarded against collapsing into a guru-like personal-attainment office. | Native speaker review |
| Sainthood (All Believers Called Holy) | ಪವಿತ್ರ ಜನರಾಗಿ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ವಿಶ್ವಾಸಿಗಳು | High | 4:12 (“to equip the saints for the work of ministry”) | Every believer, not clergy-only, is equipped; ಪವಿತ್ರ ಜನರು never ಶರಣರು. | Human theologian |
| Sanctification and the New Self | ಪವಿತ್ರೀಕರಣ ಮತ್ತು ಹೊಸ ಮನುಷ್ಯ | High | 4:22-24 (“put off the old self…put on the new self”) | New self is decisive divine creation (shares κτίζω root with 2:10), not gradual self-improvement paralleling the Lingayat shatsthala ascent. | Human theologian |
| The Holy Spirit: Sealing, Indwelling, Grieving, and Filling | ಪವಿತ್ರಾತ್ಮನ ಮುದ್ರೆ, ವಾಸ, ದುಃಖ ಮತ್ತು ಭರ್ತಿ | Critical | 4:30 (“do not grieve the Holy Spirit”) | Presumes a personal being with emotions; reinforces baseline Critical safeguard against ಪರಮಾತ್ಮ. | Human theologian |
| Walking in Newness of Life | ಹೊಸ ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯುವುದು | High | 4:1 (“walk worthy of the calling”), 4:17 (“no longer walk as the Gentiles do”) | Third and fourth occurrences; must match ch. 2 and ch. 5 renderings exactly. | Human theologian |
| Deity and Lordship of Christ | ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನ ದೇವತ್ವ ಮತ್ತು ಕರ್ತೃತ್ವ | Critical | 4:5 (“one Lord, one faith, one baptism”) | “One Lord” reinforces ಕರ್ತ’s exclusivity within the same unity-formula that must avoid ಐಕ್ಯತೆ. | Human theologian |
| Divine Calling (carried from Romans baseline) | ದೇವರ ಕರೆ | High | 4:1, 4:4 (“one hope that belongs to your calling”) | ಕರೆಯಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ/ಕರೆ reused exactly from baseline; God’s initiating summons, not devotee-initiated Lingayat shatsthala ascent or Haridasa dasa self-designation. | Human theologian |
Chapter-level note: Chapter 4 is reviewed in full; no new Critical/High doctrine is introduced beyond those already carried from chs. 1–3, but this chapter carries the single highest concentration of “unity”/“one body” language requiring the ಏಕತೆ-versus-ಐಕ್ಯತೆ back-translation check flagged in the Core Glossary’s book-level escalation recommendation.
Chapter 5 — Sanctified Walk, the Church’s Sanctification, and the Great Mystery of Marriage
Chapter summary: Continues the “walk” exhortations (imitate God, walk in love, walk as children of light, walk in wisdom), addresses being filled with the Spirit, and moves into the household code’s marriage section, presenting Christ’s sanctifying love for the church as the pattern for husbands and wives, culminating in the “great mystery” of marriage as a picture of Christ and the church.
| Doctrine | Kannada Doctrine Name | Risk | Supporting Passages (Ephesians) | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Walking in Newness of Life | ಹೊಸ ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯುವುದು | High | 5:2 (“walk in love”), 5:8 (“walk as children of light”), 5:15 (“look carefully then how you walk”) | Fifth, sixth, and seventh occurrences; must render ನಡೆಯುವುದು identically to chs. 2 and 4. | Human theologian |
| The Holy Spirit: Sealing, Indwelling, Grieving, and Filling | ಪವಿತ್ರಾತ್ಮನ ಮುದ್ರೆ, ವಾಸ, ದುಃಖ ಮತ್ತು ಭರ್ತಿ | Critical | 5:18 (“be filled with the Spirit”) | Highest-risk single occurrence in the book: strong assimilation risk into coastal Karnataka’s bhūta kōla/daivaradhane spirit-possession/trance practice, or Vedantic/yogic prāṇa-śakti “filling” toward altered consciousness. Must convey ongoing, willed, ethical-fruit-producing cooperation with a personal Spirit, not trance or possession. | Human theologian |
| Sanctification and the New Self | ಪವಿತ್ರೀಕರಣ ಮತ್ತು ಹೊಸ ಮನುಷ್ಯ | High | 5:26-27 (“sanctified her, having cleansed her…that the church might be…holy and without blemish”) | Christ’s sanctifying action on the church parallels 4:22-24’s individual sanctification; both must share the same Spirit’s-work framing, not self-directed ascent. | Human theologian |
| Household Codes and Christ-Centered Relationships | ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತ-ಕೇಂದ್ರಿತ ಕುಟುಂಬ ಸಂಬಂಧಗಳ ನಿಯಮಗಳು | Critical | 5:21-33 | Governing frame of mutual submission (5:21, ಅಧೀನರಾಗಿರಿ) must not be lost beneath the asymmetrical instructions that follow; grounded explicitly in the Christ-church relationship, not generic patriarchal custom or a husband’s self-attained spiritual status. | Human theologian |
| Headship of Christ over the Church | ಸಭೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನ ಶಿರಸ್ಸುತ್ವ | High | 5:23 (“husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church”) | Extends ecclesial headship (ch. 1, 4) into the domestic analogy; the two senses (church-Christ; wife-husband) must be distinguishable in back-translation, with the ecclesial sense as the controlling analogy, not the reverse. | Human theologian |
| The Great Mystery of Marriage as a Picture of Christ and the Church | ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತ ಮತ್ತು ಸಭೆಯ ಚಿತ್ರವಾಗಿ ವಿವಾಹದ ಮಹಾ ರಹಸ್ಯ | Critical | 5:31-32 (“this mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church”) | Reuses the Critical ರಹಸ್ಯ safeguard and fixed qualifying phrase established in chs. 1 and 3; marriage is a now-understood picture of an already-revealed truth, not an ongoing esoteric secret. | Human theologian |
| The Mystery of Christ Revealed | ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನ ರಹಸ್ಯದ ಪ್ರಕಟನೆ | Critical | 5:32 | Parent doctrine of the above; consistency check required across all four book occurrences (1:9, 3:3-9, 5:32, 6:19). | Human theologian |
| Kingdom Mission (carried from Romans baseline) | ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಮಿಷನ್ | Medium | 5:5 (“kingdom of Christ and God”) | ದೇವರ ರಾಜ್ಯ reused exactly; God’s reign, not a political or territorial kingdom. | Native speaker review |
| Thanksgiving | ಕೃತಜ್ಞತಾಸ್ತುತಿ | Low | 5:4, 5:20 | Standard low-risk term. | Automated review |
Chapter-level note: Chapter 5 carries the book’s single highest-risk individual segment (5:18, “be filled with the Spirit”) given the density and cultural specificity of coastal Karnataka’s spirit-practice landscape, and requires the same Critical mystery-phrase discipline established in chs. 1 and 3.
Chapter 6 — Household Codes Continued, Spiritual Warfare, and Closing Commission
Chapter summary: Concludes the household code (children/parents, bondservants/masters), then delivers the armor-of-God spiritual warfare passage (6:10–18), and closes with Paul’s request for prayer as “an ambassador in chains” for the mystery of the gospel.
| Doctrine | Kannada Doctrine Name | Risk | Supporting Passages (Ephesians) | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Household Codes and Christ-Centered Relationships | ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತ-ಕೇಂದ್ರಿತ ಕುಟುಂಬ ಸಂಬಂಧಗಳ ನಿಯಮಗಳು | Critical | 6:1-9 | ”Bondservants” (ದಾಸರು, 6:5-8) carries a significant collision risk with the honored Haridasa devotional self-title “dasa” (Purandara Dāsa, Kanaka Dāsa) — genuine partial resonance (chosen humble service) but real doctrinal difference (an actual, often involuntary social-legal status addressed pastorally, not devotional aspiration toward a chosen ista-devata). “Masters” must render ಯಜಮಾನರು, never ಕರ್ತ, to protect that term’s Critical exclusivity for Christ. | Human theologian |
| Deity and Lordship of Christ | ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನ ದೇವತ್ವ ಮತ್ತು ಕರ್ತೃತ್ವ | Critical | 6:9 (“their Master and yours is in heaven”) | Confirms ಕರ್ತ’s reservation for Christ even where Paul’s Greek wordplay (same word for human and divine “lord”) is present in the source; Kannada must sacrifice the wordplay to protect doctrinal clarity. | Human theologian |
| Spiritual Warfare and the Armor of God | ಆತ್ಮಿಕ ಯುದ್ಧ ಮತ್ತು ದೇವರ ಪೂರ್ಣ ಕವಚ | High | 6:10-18 | Central passage for this doctrine. The devil (ಸೈತಾನ, singular, personal, already-defeated per 1:20-21) and the hierarchy of ಪ್ರಭುತ್ವಗಳು/ಅಧಿಕಾರಗಳು/ಲೋಕಾಧಿಪತಿಗಳು/ಆತ್ಮಿಕ ಸೇನೆಗಳು risk assimilation into coastal Karnataka’s bhūta/preta/daiva folk taxonomy requiring ritual appeasement or exorcism, rather than Christ’s supreme, exclusive, already-accomplished victory. ಶಕ್ತಿ never used for these hostile powers. | Human theologian |
| The Mystery of Christ Revealed | ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನ ರಹಸ್ಯದ ಪ್ರಕಟನೆ | Critical | 6:19 (“to make known…the mystery of the gospel”) | Fourth and final book occurrence; same fixed qualifying phrase required, closing the book’s mystery motif begun in 1:9. | Human theologian |
| Gospel | ಸುವಾರ್ತೆ | High | 6:15 (“gospel of peace”), 6:19 | ”Gospel of peace” links back to 2:14-17’s peace-through-reconciliation doctrine; must not be read as generic tranquility. | Human theologian |
| Prayer and Intercession | ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಮಧ್ಯಸ್ಥಿಕೆ | Medium | 6:18-20 | ”Praying at all times in the Spirit,” and Paul’s request for prayer “for me…an ambassador in chains” — direct access to God, not ritual intermediation. | Native speaker review |
| Mission to the Nations and Evangelism | ಜನಾಂಗಗಳಿಗೆ ಮಿಷನ್ ಮತ್ತು ಸುವಾರ್ತಾ ಪ್ರಸಾರ | Medium | 6:19-20 (“ambassador in chains”) | “Ambassador” language should avoid colonial-mission overtones; frame as courageous witness, not conquest. | Native speaker review |
| Peace (carried from Romans baseline) | ಶಾಂತಿ | Medium | 6:15, 6:23 | ಶಾಂತಿ reused exactly; relational peace through the gospel, not psychological calm sought through bhakti devotion or meditative discipline. | Native speaker review |
Chapter-level note: Chapter 6 closes the book’s two major “new” doctrinal threads (household codes, spiritual warfare) and returns to the mystery motif for the fourth and final time, requiring a full-book consistency check across all four mystery occurrences (1:9; 3:3-9; 5:32; 6:19) before Phase 2 sign-off.

Note on matrix numbering: Doctrines #23, #28, and #29 (Divine Calling, Kingdom Mission, Peace with God) are Romans-baseline doctrines carried forward and re-scoped to their Ephesians footprint; they are included here for full-book completeness even though doctrine_risk_registry.json (Ephesians) documents them primarily under Ephesians-specific entries (e.g., Peace with God’s Ephesians occurrences fall under the “peace” term entry in the Core Glossary rather than a standalone Ephesians doctrine record). All risk tiers match the baseline exactly per the hard-rule requirement not to contradict it.
Cross-Chapter Consistency Requirements (Phase 2 Enforcement)
- Ephesians 2:1–10 (core passage) must be rendered identically in every document that quotes it, with the same status as Romans 1:16-17 and 10:9-10 in the baseline’s cross-document consistency rules.
- “Mystery” (ರಹಸ್ಯ) must carry the fixed qualifying phrase ದೇವರು ಪ್ರಕಟಿಸಿದ ರಹಸ್ಯ at all four occurrences: 1:9, 3:3-9, 5:32, 6:19. No bare ರಹಸ್ಯ is permitted anywhere in the book.
- “Unity”/“one body” (ಏಕತೆ) must never render as ಐಕ್ಯತೆ at any of its occurrences across 2:14-16, 4:3-4, 4:13, 4:16. This is the single highest-density forbidden-substitution risk in the book (see Core Glossary Section C) and warrants a dedicated back-translation checkpoint.
- “Fullness” (ಪರಿಪೂರ್ಣತೆ) must be checked for Advaitic/monistic drift at all three occurrences: 1:23, 3:19, 4:13.
- “Walk” (ನಡೆಯುವುದು) must render identically at all seven occurrences: 2:2, 2:10, 4:1, 4:17, 5:2, 5:8, 5:15.
- ಕರ್ತ is reserved exclusively for Christ throughout the book, including 6:9 where Paul’s Greek wordplay (same κύριος root for human masters and the divine Master) is deliberately not reproduced in Kannada; ಯಜಮಾನರು is used for human masters at 6:5, 6:9.
- “Bondservants” (ದಾಸರು, 6:5-8) requires a standing translator note distinguishing Ephesians’ pastoral address to an actual social-legal status from the Haridasa devotional honorific “dasa,” given the identical surface-form collision.
- Headship (ತಲೆ/ಶಿರಸ್ಸು) occurrences in the ecclesial sense (1:22, 4:15) and the household sense (5:23) must be distinguishable in back-translation, with the ecclesial sense established first (ch. 1) as the controlling analogy for the domestic application (ch. 5).

Critical and High counts and doctrine keys match doctrine_risk_registry.json (Ephesians) exactly for all 28 registry-listed doctrines; the additional 3 rows (#23, #28, #29 above) extend Romans-baseline doctrines to their full Ephesians chapter footprint for full-book coverage and do not alter any registry risk tier.
Chapters fully reviewed: 1, 2 (core passage), 3, 4, 5, 6 — no chapter is silently omitted. Chapters 4 and 6 introduce no new Critical-tier doctrine beyond what chs. 1, 2, 3, and 5 already establish, but both are documented in full above given their load-bearing unity, gift-office, household-code, and spiritual-warfare content.
This document feeds Phase 2 Step 17 (Doctrinal Fidelity Review) routing and must be loaded alongside doctrine_risk_registry.json, translation_memory.json, and bible_term_registry.json before any Ephesians segment translation begins.
Critical Risk Doctrines
Salvation by Grace through Faith
Kannada name: ಕೃಪೆಯಿಂದ ನಂಬಿಕೆಯ ಮೂಲಕ ರಕ್ಷಣೆ
Key terms: grace, faith, saved, not your own doing, gift of God, not a result of works
Review routing: Human theologian
This curriculum’s core passage (2:8-9) is the thesis-level verse and must be rendered identically wherever cited, per the baseline’s cross-document consistency rule for Romans 1:16-17. ಕೃಪೆ (grace) and ನಂಬಿಕೆ (faith) must be reused exactly. The clause ‘not your own doing’ (ನಿಮ್ಮಿಂದಲ್ಲ) is the theological center of gravity and must never be softened into partial-merit qualifications; it directly opposes both the general karma-merit economy and the Lingayat kayaka-dasoha ethic, where standing is demonstrated through disciplined sacred work and generous sharing.
Good Works as Fruit, Not Foundation, of Salvation
Kannada name: ರಕ್ಷಣೆಯ ಫಲವಾಗಿ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳು, ಅಡಿಪಾಯವಲ್ಲ
Key terms: works, good works, boast, workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works
Review routing: Human theologian
ἔργα must be rendered ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳು, never ಕರ್ಮಗಳು — ಕರ್ಮ invokes the pan-Indian karma-merit/karma-law framework (action determining reward/punishment across lifetimes), risking the reader hearing ‘not by karmic law’ rather than ‘not by human effort,’ which could reinforce rather than dismantle a karma-framework reading of this very anti-merit passage. The strict sequence — God’s grace and new creation first (v.8-10a), good works following as prepared fruit — must never be reversed or blurred.
Election and Predestination in Christ
Kannada name: ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನಲ್ಲಿ ದೇವರ ಆಯ್ಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಮೊದಲೇ ನೇಮಕ
Key terms: chose us, predestined, according to the purpose of his will, obtained an inheritance
Review routing: Human theologian
ಮೊದಲೇ ನೇಮಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ (predestined) must be sharply distinguished from ಹಣೆಬರಹ, the vivid Kannada fatalism idiom (‘forehead-writing’) for an unchangeable, impersonally pre-written fate, and from impersonal karma-law framing — both common explanatory frameworks in everyday Kannada speech. Ephesians 1 concentrates election and predestination language more densely than any single Romans passage, making this its own dedicated Critical entry: this is the personal, relational, purposive choice of a Father who adopts, not a script written apart from relationship.
Redemption Through Christ’s Blood
Kannada name: ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನ ರಕ್ತದ ಮೂಲಕ ವಿಮೋಚನೆ
Key terms: redemption, through his blood, forgiveness of our trespasses
Review routing: Human theologian
ವಿಮೋಚನೆ and ಮೋಕ್ಷ are near-synonyms in general Kannada usage (both broadly denote ‘liberation/release’), yet the doctrines are structurally opposite: biblical redemption is a personal, relational deliverance purchased at the specific cost of Christ’s blood, leaving the redeemed a distinct person in ongoing relationship with the Redeemer, while ಮೋಕ್ಷ denotes release from the impersonal cycle of rebirth. Never substitute ಮೋಕ್ಷ.
Union with Christ (Made Alive, Raised, and Seated Together)
Kannada name: ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಐಕ್ಯವಲ್ಲದ ಆದರೆ ಆಪ್ತ ಸಂಬಂಧ
Key terms: made us alive together with Christ, raised us up with him, seated us with him, in the heavenly places, in Christ Jesus
Review routing: Human theologian
This co-resurrection and co-enthronement language is built on the ಪುನರುತ್ಥಾನ root (never ಪುನರ್ಜನ್ಮ) but introduces a further, distinct risk: readers may assimilate the believer’s exalted ‘seated with him’ union into the Veerashaiva Aikya state, the shatsthala path’s final stage in which the devotee’s individual identity dissolves into and merges with Shiva. Ephesians’ union-with-Christ language must be taught as the believer sharing Christ’s exalted position while remaining a distinct person in ongoing relationship with him — closeness and shared status, not merger or dissolution of identity.
The Church as the Body of Christ
Kannada name: ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನ ದೇಹವಾದ ಸಭೆ
Key terms: body of Christ, one body, head, fullness, grow up in every way into him
Review routing: Human theologian
The recurring ‘one body’ language sits at the exact site of the baseline’s forbidden ಐಕ್ಯ/ಐಕ್ಯತೆ collision (Veerashaiva final merger with Shiva). Ephesians describes a differentiated, interdependent unity of distinct members functioning together under one Head, not an undifferentiated merger — ‘unity’ must render as ಏಕತೆ, never ಐಕ್ಯತೆ, at every occurrence (4:3-4, 4:13, 4:16). The related term ‘fullness’ (ಪರಿಪೂರ್ಣತೆ, 1:23, 3:19, 4:13) carries its own risk of being read through Advaitic/Vedantic monistic ‘fullness pervading all’ theology (cf. the Isha Upanishad’s pūrṇam idam pūrṇam adaḥ) rather than Paul’s relational picture of a personal, distinct Christ who fills and indwells his church.
Unity of Jews and Gentiles in One New Humanity
Kannada name: ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರು ಮತ್ತು ಅನ್ಯಜನಾಂಗದವರ ಏಕತೆ — ಒಂದೇ ಹೊಸ ಮನುಷ್ಯ
Key terms: dividing wall of hostility, one new man, reconciled, access in one Spirit, fellow citizens, fellow heirs
Review routing: Human theologian
This doctrine carries a double risk. First, the ‘one new man’/‘unity’ language must avoid ಐಕ್ಯತೆ for the same reason as the Body-of-Christ doctrine above. Second, the ‘dividing wall’ imagery (likely alluding to the Jerusalem Temple’s Gentile-exclusion barrier) has strong resonance with Karnataka’s own history of caste-based spatial and ritual exclusion (segregated temple entry, separate wells) and the Lingayat reform movement’s 12th-century rejection of such barriers — a genuine point of partial cultural contact, but the text’s own stated ground for demolishing the wall (Christ’s cross and flesh, 2:14-16) must remain explicit and must not be softened into a generic, borrowed social-equality ethic detached from the cross.
The Mystery of Christ Revealed
Kannada name: ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನ ರಹಸ್ಯದ ಪ್ರಕಟನೆ
Key terms: mystery, hidden for ages, now revealed, mystery of the gospel, great mystery
Review routing: Human theologian
ರಹಸ್ಯ alone is the standard Kannada word for esoteric teaching transmitted only to initiated disciples, in both the Vedantic guru-śiṣya tradition and Lingayat vachana inner-meaning instruction — the exact opposite of Paul’s usage, which moves from previously hidden to now openly and universally proclaimed. Every occurrence must carry the fixed qualifying phrase ದೇವರು ಪ್ರಕಟಿಸಿದ ರಹಸ್ಯ (‘the mystery God has revealed’), never a bare ರಹಸ್ಯ, including its specific application to marriage in 5:32.
The Holy Spirit: Sealing, Indwelling, Grieving, and Filling
Kannada name: ಪವಿತ್ರಾತ್ಮನ ಮುದ್ರೆ, ವಾಸ, ದುಃಖ ಮತ್ತು ಭರ್ತಿ
Key terms: sealed with the Holy Spirit, guarantee of our inheritance, grieve not the Holy Spirit, be filled with the Spirit
Review routing: Human theologian
ಪವಿತ್ರಾತ್ಮ must never be rendered ಪರಮಾತ್ಮ (the impersonal or monistic Universal Self of Vedantic usage). Ephesians intensifies this baseline safeguard: ‘grieve the Spirit’ (4:30) presumes a personal being with emotions, and ‘be filled with the Spirit’ (5:18) risks assimilation into coastal Karnataka’s bhūta kōla/daivaradhane spirit-possession and trance practices, or Vedantic/yogic prāṇa-śakti ‘filling’ toward altered consciousness — both incorrect frames for an ongoing, willed, ethical cooperation with a personal Spirit.
Household Codes and Christ-Centered Relationships
Kannada name: ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತ-ಕೇಂದ್ರಿತ ಕುಟುಂಬ ಸಂಬಂಧಗಳ ನಿಯಮಗಳು
Key terms: submit to one another, wives submit to husbands, husbands love your wives as Christ loved the church, children obey your parents, bondservants obey your masters
Review routing: Human theologian
The governing frame of mutual submission (5:21) must not be lost beneath the asymmetrical instructions that follow; headship and submission are explicitly grounded in the Christ-church relationship, not generic patriarchal custom or a husband’s self-attained spiritual status (cf. Lingayat kayaka’s this-worldly discipline ethic, which grounds standing in one’s own disciplined work). Separately, ‘bondservants’ (ದಾಸರು, 6:5-8) carries a significant collision risk with the honored Haridasa devotional self-title ‘dasa’ (Purandara Dāsa, Kanaka Dāsa) — a title of freely chosen bhakti-surrender to a personally chosen deity — whereas Ephesians addresses an actual, often involuntary first-century social-legal slave status pastorally, not devotional aspiration; and ‘masters’ must be rendered ಯಜಮಾನರು, never ಕರ್ತ, to protect that term’s Critical exclusivity for Christ.
The Great Mystery of Marriage as a Picture of Christ and the Church
Kannada name: ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತ ಮತ್ತು ಸಭೆಯ ಚಿತ್ರವಾಗಿ ವಿವಾಹದ ಮಹಾ ರಹಸ್ಯ
Key terms: one flesh, this mystery is profound, referring to Christ and the church
Review routing: Human theologian
Reuses the Critical ರಹಸ್ಯ (mystery) safeguard: marriage itself is not an esoteric secret but a now-understood picture of an already-revealed truth. This is a specific pastoral application of the book’s central mystery doctrine and must retain the same fixed qualifying phrase (ದೇವರು ಪ್ರಕಟಿಸಿದ ರಹಸ್ಯ) used elsewhere in the book.
Deity and Lordship of Christ
Kannada name: ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನ ದೇವತ್ವ ಮತ್ತು ಕರ್ತೃತ್ವ
Key terms: far above all rule and authority, put all things under his feet, one Lord, Lord Jesus Christ
Review routing: Human theologian
ಕರ್ತ is reserved exclusively for Christ’s exclusive, supreme, presently-reigning Lordship and must never be applied to human ‘masters’ (6:9, rendered ಯಜಮಾನರು instead) or softened toward the Veerashaiva Aikya picture of a devotee eventually merging into and losing distinction from the Lord.
High Risk Doctrines
Gospel
Kannada name: ಸುವಾರ್ತೆ
Key terms: gospel, word of truth, gospel of your salvation, gospel of peace
Review routing: Human theologian
ಸುವಾರ್ತೆ must be distinguished from any general positive announcement or one devotional teaching among several. Karnataka’s Haridasa bhakti and Veerashaiva Sharana traditions each have cherished bodies of devotional teaching (kirtane, vachana); this gospel names one specific, historical, exclusive proclamation of salvation through the crucified and risen Christ, now extended in Ephesians to Gentile inclusion as fellow heirs.
Headship of Christ over the Church
Kannada name: ಸಭೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನ ಶಿರಸ್ಸುತ್ವ
Key terms: head over all things, head of the church, grow up into him who is the head
Review routing: Human theologian
ತಲೆ/ಶಿರಸ್ಸು must be rendered consistently as Christ’s life-giving, authoritative headship over a body that remains distinct from him, not one honored teacher (ಗುರು) among several within a guru-lineage structure. This term also extends into the household-code husband-wife analogy (5:23), requiring careful cross-reference handling so the ecclesial and domestic senses are not confused by readers.
Spiritual Warfare and the Armor of God
Kannada name: ಆತ್ಮಿಕ ಯುದ್ಧ ಮತ್ತು ದೇವರ ಪೂರ್ಣ ಕವಚ
Key terms: devil, rulers, authorities, cosmic powers, prince of the power of the air, armor of God, stand firm, sword of the Spirit
Review routing: Human theologian
The devil (ಸೈತಾನ) and the organized hierarchy of rulers/authorities/cosmic powers (6:12) risk assimilation into coastal Karnataka folk religion’s rich taxonomy of local spirits (bhūta, preta, daiva) requiring ongoing ritual appeasement or exorcism through folk practitioners, rather than being taught as the one, singular, named, already-defeated enemy under Christ’s supreme and exclusive authority (established in 1:20-21 before ch. 6 develops the warfare theme). ಶಕ್ತಿ must never be used for these hostile ‘powers,’ to preserve the baseline’s Shakta-goddess-power separation reserved for ‘power of God.‘
Sanctification and the New Self
Kannada name: ಪವಿತ್ರೀಕರಣ ಮತ್ತು ಹೊಸ ಮನುಷ್ಯ
Key terms: put off the old self, put on the new self, true righteousness and holiness, sanctified her, having cleansed her
Review routing: Human theologian
The Spirit’s ongoing work of making believers holy must be distinguished from the disciplined, self-directed ascent through the Lingayat shatsthala stages, even where outward ethical behavior may overlap significantly; the ‘new self’ is a decisive divine creation (shared κτίζω root with 2:10), not a gradual self-improvement project.
Sainthood (All Believers Called Holy)
Kannada name: ಪವಿತ್ರ ಜನರಾಗಿ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ವಿಶ್ವಾಸಿಗಳು
Key terms: saints, the saints who are in Ephesus, equip the saints
Review routing: Human theologian
ಪವಿತ್ರ ಜನರು names every believer corporately; NEVER ಶರಣರು, which specifically names the Veerashaiva Sharana poet-saints who attained the highest Aikya stage — using it for ordinary believers would import that elite, self-attained status.
Walking in Newness of Life
Kannada name: ಹೊಸ ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯುವುದು
Key terms: walk, walked in trespasses, walk worthy of the calling, walk in love, walk as children of light, look carefully how you walk
Review routing: Human theologian
ನಡೆಯುವುದು must render Paul’s recurring ‘walk’ metaphor consistently at every occurrence. This is the lived-out fruit flowing from an identity already given by grace (2:8-10), not one ‘mārga’ (path) among several optional spiritual disciplines such as bhakti-mārga, jñāna-mārga, or karma-mārga in regional religious vocabulary, and not a path traveled toward attainment.
Adoption and Inheritance in God’s Family
Kannada name: ದೇವರ ಕುಟುಂಬದಲ್ಲಿ ದತ್ತು ಪುತ್ರತ್ವ ಮತ್ತು ಬಾಧ್ಯತೆ
Key terms: predestined for adoption, obtained an inheritance, guarantee of our inheritance, fellow heirs
Review routing: Human theologian
ದತ್ತು ಪುತ್ರತ್ವ (adoption) and ಬಾಧ್ಯತೆ (inheritance) must together preserve the ‘received by sonship, not earned by labor’ logic; Gentile believers are ಸಹ ಬಾಧ್ಯಸ್ಥರು (fellow heirs) with no second-tier inheritance, directly reinforcing the unity-of-Jew-and-Gentile doctrine.
Assurance of Salvation
Kannada name: ರಕ್ಷಣೆಯ ಭರವಸೆ
Key terms: sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, guarantee of our inheritance, by grace you have been saved
Review routing: Human theologian
The Spirit as ಮುಂಗಡ (down payment/guarantee) must convey legal certainty, not a vague sign or superstitious token. This assurance rests in God’s unchanging seal and gift, distinct from the uncertain, incremental progress of the Lingayat shatsthala path, where advancement toward Aikya is a matter of ongoing spiritual attainment rather than a settled, gifted status.
Universal Human Accountability (Dead in Sin)
Kannada name: ಪಾಪದಲ್ಲಿ ಸತ್ತ ಸಾರ್ವತ್ರಿಕ ಮಾನವ ಹೊಣೆಗಾರಿಕೆ
Key terms: dead in trespasses and sins, by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind
Review routing: Human theologian
ಸತ್ತವರು (dead) must convey total spiritual incapacity, not dormancy or weakness compatible with self-effort religious frameworks (bhakti awakening, latent yogic potential). ಸ್ವಭಾವತಃ (by nature) must preserve inherited, universal condition rather than acquired behavior — applying equally regardless of caste or spiritual attainment, a point of genuine partial resonance with the Lingayat movement’s own historic rejection of caste hierarchy, though the doctrinal ground (inherited guilt before a personal God) differs.
Reconciliation and Access to God
Kannada name: ದೇವರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸಂಧಾನ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರವೇಶ
Key terms: reconcile both to God in one body, through him we…have access in one Spirit to the Father, bold and confident access
Review routing: Human theologian
ಸಂಧಾನ (reconciliation) must be distinguished from a negotiated truce between equal parties — accomplished unilaterally by Christ’s cross. ಪ್ರವೇಶ (access) is a positive-resonance point: unlike caste-restricted access to inner temple sanctums historically practiced regionally, the gospel grants undivided, equal access to God’s presence to all who believe.
Medium Risk Doctrines
Gifts for Building Up the Church
Kannada name: ಸಭೆಯ ಭಕ್ತಿವೃದ್ಧಿಗಾಗಿ ವರಗಳು
Key terms: apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers, equip the saints, build up the body of Christ, measure of Christ’s gift
Review routing: Native speaker review
The gift-offices (ಸಭಾಪಾಲಕರು, ಬೋಧಕರು, ಸುವಾರ್ತಿಕರು) are Christ’s own gifts to the church, not offices attained by human religious achievement or elevated spiritual status; ಸಭಾಪಾಲಕರು especially must be guarded against collapsing into a guru-like personal-attainment office.
Apostleship and Prophetic Foundation of the Church
Kannada name: ಸಭೆಯ ಅಪೊಸ್ತಲಿಕ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರವಾದಿಕ ಅಸ್ತಿವಾರ
Key terms: built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, revealed to his holy apostles and prophets
Review routing: Native speaker review
ಅಪೊಸ್ತಲ and ಪ್ರವಾದಿ must be distinguished from the Lingayat ಜಂಗಮ (wandering teacher) office or a generic guru role recognized for personal spiritual attainment; these are commissioned, foundation-laying offices.
Prayer and Intercession
Kannada name: ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಮಧ್ಯಸ್ಥಿಕೆ
Key terms: I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, praying at all times in the Spirit, make known…for me
Review routing: Native speaker review
Direct access to the Father through Christ by one Spirit; distinguish from bhakti puja/kirtane directed toward a chosen personal deity.
Mission to the Nations and Evangelism
Kannada name: ಜನಾಂಗಗಳಿಗೆ ಮಿಷನ್ ಮತ್ತು ಸುವಾರ್ತಾ ಪ್ರಸಾರ
Key terms: preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, boldly…make known the mystery of the gospel, ambassador in chains
Review routing: Native speaker review
‘Mission’ carries colonial-era connotation; ಸುವಾರ್ತಾ ಪ್ರಸಾರ preferred. Culturally sensitive given both Hindu-nationalist concerns and regional pride in Karnataka’s own reform and devotional traditions; use language of proclamation and witness.
Low Risk Doctrines
Thanksgiving
Kannada name: ಕೃತಜ್ಞತಾಸ್ತುತಿ
Key terms: giving thanks always, thanksgiving, singing and making melody…giving thanks
Review routing: Automated review
Standard term; minor risk of over-ritualization.
Christian Fellowship
Kannada name: ಕ್ರೈಸ್ತ ಅನ್ಯೋನ್ಯತೆ
Key terms: fellowship of the mystery, members one of another
Review routing: Automated review
Shared participation in Christ, not merely social or caste-community association.
