Cross-Reference Analysis
1. Method Note
- Theme column maps to one of the nine curriculum doctrines where directly relevant: Return and Reign of Christ (RRC); Sovereignty of God over History (SGH); Perseverance and Faithful Witness under Persecution (PFW); Judgment of the Wicked and Vindication of the Saints (JWV); The New Heaven and New Earth (NHE); The Church as Bride of Christ (CBC); Worship of the Lamb (WOL); Symbolic and Apocalyptic Interpretation (SAI); Assurance of God’s Final Victory over Evil (AFV). Some entries carry more than one tag.
- OT/NT Connection gives the primary Old Testament source(s) of the quotation/allusion, plus any New Testament parallel (especially Romans, per the PRD’s cross-curriculum mandate).
- Translation Sensitivity flags the Kannada rendering risk, cross-referencing the risk tier and rationale already established in
analysis/07_semantic_analysis.mdandanalysis/08_core_glossary.md, and noting any additional cross-reference-specific concern (e.g., when an OT type is itself vulnerable to a Kannada cultural collision). - Every chapter of Revelation is represented. Chapters with sparser or repeated allusion patterns (e.g., 16, 18) are noted as such rather than omitted.
2. Cross-Reference Matrix
Revelation 1 — Prologue and Vision of the Glorified Christ
| Revelation Passage | Theme | Related Character(s) | OT/NT Connection | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Revelation 1:1 | SAI | John, Jesus Christ | Daniel 2:28-29 (“what must take place”) — apocalyptic disclosure pattern | Low. ಪ್ರಕಟನೆ (established book title) already conveys “unveiling”; keep consistent with Daniel’s own “revealer of mysteries” language if cited in teaching notes. |
| Revelation 1:4-5 | SGH, RRC | God, Jesus Christ | Exodus 3:14 (divine self-existence, “I AM”); Psalm 89:27 (“firstborn,” “highest of the kings of the earth”) | High. “Him who is and who was and who is to come” must render as one continuous, eternal divine identity, not three separate temporal deities; pair with baseline ದೇವರು. |
| Revelation 1:6 | WOL | believers | Exodus 19:6 (“kingdom of priests and a holy nation”) | Medium. ಯಾಜಕರು (priests) risk of caste-priesthood collision — see B.3 note in 08_core_glossary.md. |
| Revelation 1:7 | RRC, JWV | Jesus Christ | Daniel 7:13 (“coming with the clouds”); Zechariah 12:10 (“look on him whom they have pierced”) | High. Must retain a single, visible, universal Second Coming, not a repeatable or metaphorical “descent” (cf. baseline’s ಅವತಾರ prohibition for incarnation, extended by analogy here). |
| Revelation 1:8 | SGH, WOL | God | Isaiah 44:6; 48:12 (“I am the first and the last”) | Critical. Feeds ಸರ್ವಸಮರ್ಥನಾದ ದೇವರು (Almighty) — never ಸರ್ವಶಕ್ತ; see 08_core_glossary.md B.1. |
| Revelation 1:13-16 | RRC, SAI | Jesus Christ (glorified) | Daniel 7:9 (hair like wool); Daniel 10:5-6 (radiant figure); Ezekiel 1:26-28 (glory-vision) | High. This composite vision merges OT theophany imagery (normally reserved for God/the Ancient of Days) directly onto Christ — key evidence for Deity of Christ (baseline Critical doctrine); must not be softened to “an angel” or “a heavenly being.” |
| Revelation 1:16 | RRC, JWV | Jesus Christ | Isaiah 49:2 (“made my mouth like a sharp sword”) | Medium. ಖಡ್ಗ (sword) from the mouth is a symbol of the powerful, judging word — avoid literalizing. |
| Revelation 1:17-18 | RRC, AFV | Jesus Christ | Isaiah 44:6 (first/last); Isaiah 22:22 (keys); Hosea 13:14 (ransom from Death/Sheol) | Critical. “Keys of Death and Hades” ties directly to baseline Resurrection (Critical) — Christ’s authority over death flows from his own bodily resurrection (ಪುನರುತ್ಥಾನ), not a mythic descent-and-return motif. |
Revelation 2–3 — Letters to the Seven Churches
| Revelation Passage | Theme | Related Character(s) | OT/NT Connection | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Revelation 2:7 | NHE, AFV | believers (“overcomer”) | Genesis 2:9; 3:22-24 (tree of life, Eden) | Medium. ಜೀವ ವೃಕ್ಷ — kalpavṛkṣa (wish-tree) collision; see 08_core_glossary.md. |
| Revelation 2:8 | RRC | Jesus Christ | Isaiah 44:6 (first/last) | Medium. Consistency: same phrase as Revelation 1:17, 22:13 — render identically across the book. |
| Revelation 2:14 | JWV | Balaam, Balak | Numbers 22–24; Numbers 31:16 (Balaam’s counsel) | Low. Historical reference; low ambiguity if names transliterated per established Kannada OT convention. |
| Revelation 2:20-23 | JWV | Jezebel | 1 Kings 16:31; 18:4,19; 19; 21 (Jezebel’s idolatry and violence); Jeremiah 17:10 (“I test the mind and heart”); Psalm 62:12 (“according to his work”) | High. “According to your works” (κατὰ τὰ ἔργα) must be read as a personal, moral divine verdict, not the impersonal karma-ledger pattern flagged Critical for Revelation 20 (Chitragupta collision) — establish the distinction here already. |
| Revelation 2:26-27 | RRC | believers, Jesus Christ | Psalm 2:8-9 (“rule with a rod of iron”) | High. Ties to Return and Reign of Christ; the “rod of iron” recurs at Revelation 12:5; 19:15 — render consistently. |
| Revelation 3:5 | JWV, AFV | believers | Exodus 32:32-33 (Moses’ plea, “blot me out of your book”); Psalm 69:28; Daniel 12:1 (book of those written for deliverance) | Critical. First mention of the Book of Life motif — anchor the Chitragupta-avoidance framing (see 08_core_glossary.md B.1) from this first occurrence. |
| Revelation 3:7 | RRC | Jesus Christ | Isaiah 22:22 (“key of David”) | Medium. Reuse baseline ದಾವೀದ; ties to baseline Davidic Covenant (High). |
| Revelation 3:9 | SGH, JWV | ”synagogue of Satan” | Isaiah 60:14 (nations bowing before restored Zion) | Low-Medium; historically bounded first-century polemic; avoid any reading directed at a modern ethnic/religious group. |
| Revelation 3:12 | NHE, CBC | believers | Isaiah 62:2 (new name); 1 Kings 7:21 (temple pillars) | Medium. |
| Revelation 3:14 | RRC, SGH | Jesus Christ | Isaiah 65:16 (“God of truth/Amen”); Proverbs 8:22 (Wisdom, “beginning of his work”) | High. “The Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God’s creation” is a strong deity-of-Christ text; ಆಮೆನ್ as a personal title for Christ (not only a liturgical closing word) should be flagged for teaching notes. |
| Revelation 3:19 | PFW | Jesus Christ, believers | Proverbs 3:11-12 (the LORD disciplines those he loves) | Low. |
Revelation 4–5 — The Heavenly Throne Room and the Lamb
| Revelation Passage | Theme | Related Character(s) | OT/NT Connection | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|

| Revelation 4:2-3 | SGH | God | Ezekiel 1:26-28 (throne, glory, rainbow) | High. ಸಿಂಹಾಸನ (throne) — see 08_core_glossary.md for the Chamundeshwari-siṃhāsana collision; this is the controlling OT type for the entire book’s throne imagery. |
| Revelation 4:5 | SGH | God | Exodus 19:16 (thunder, lightning at Sinai); Ezekiel 1:13 | Low-Medium. |
| Revelation 4:6-8 | WOL, SAI | four living creatures | Ezekiel 1:5-10,18 (four living creatures); Isaiah 6:2-3 (seraphim, “Holy, holy, holy”) | Medium. ಜೀವಿಗಳು — jīva/Vedantic collision noted in 08_core_glossary.md. |
| Revelation 4:8 | WOL | four living creatures, God | Isaiah 6:3 (Trisagion); Exodus 3:14 (“who was, is, is to come”) | High. Reuses baseline ಪವಿತ್ರ ×3 — maintain the baseline’s High-risk framing (holiness as moral/relational, not ritual purity). |
| Revelation 4:9-11 | WOL, SGH | 24 elders | 1 Kings 22:19 (heavenly council imagery); Psalm 148 (all creation praises the Creator) | Medium. |
| Revelation 5:1 | SAI, SGH | God, scroll | Ezekiel 2:9-10 (scroll written within/without); Daniel 12:4 (sealed until the end) | Medium. |
| Revelation 5:5 | RRC, WOL | Jesus Christ (“Lion of Judah, Root of David”) | Genesis 49:9-10 (Judah’s scepter); Isaiah 11:1,10 (root of Jesse) | Critical. Direct messianic fulfillment text — ties Messianic Promise (baseline Critical) and Davidic Covenant (baseline High) to the Lamb’s introduction; the Lion/Lamb juxtaposition (5:5-6) is a key interpretive anchor for the whole book’s Christology. |
| Revelation 5:6 | WOL, RRC | the Lamb | Isaiah 53:7 (silent lamb led to slaughter); Genesis 22 (Isaac/ram typology); Zechariah 4:10 (seven eyes) | Critical. | Revelation 5:9-10 | WOL, CBC | the Lamb, redeemed | Exodus 19:6 (kingdom of priests); Psalm 96:1 (“new song”) | High. “Ransomed” ties to Romans’ atonement/justification vocabulary (see Section 4). |
| Revelation 5:11-13 | WOL, SGH | angels, all creation | Daniel 7:10 (myriads before the throne) | Medium. |

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Revelation 6:2-8 | SAI, JWV | four horsemen | Zechariah 1:8-10; 6:1-8 (colored horses as agents of God’s patrol/judgment) | Medium. Requires explicit interpretive framing per Symbolic and Apocalyptic Interpretation. |
| Revelation 6:8 | JWV | Death, Hades | Ezekiel 14:21 (sword, famine, pestilence, wild beasts as four judgments) | Critical. Personified “Hades” here — see ಹೇಡಸ್ transliteration rule (08_core_glossary.md B.1). |
| Revelation 6:9-11 | PFW, JWV | martyrs’ souls | Genesis 4:10 (Abel’s blood cries out); Psalm 79:5,10; Zechariah 1:12 (“how long?”) | High. Grounds Perseverance and Judgment/Vindication; the “how long” cry is directly answered at Revelation 21:4. |
| Revelation 6:12-14 | JWV, SAI | cosmic signs | Isaiah 13:10; 34:4 (sun/moon darkened, sky rolled up); Joel 2:31 | Medium. Standard “Day of the LORD” cosmic-collapse imagery; avoid conflating with astrological/yuga-collapse cosmology. |
| Revelation 6:15-17 | JWV | kings, mighty | Isaiah 2:19-21; Hosea 10:8; Joel 2:11 (“who can stand?”) | Medium. |

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Revelation 7:1-8 | SGH, AFV | 144,000, twelve tribes | Ezekiel 9:4-6 (mark on foreheads of the faithful before judgment) | Critical. Governing OT type for the forehead-seal motif — see 08_core_glossary.md B.2 (sealing), and its parody in Revelation 13. |
| Revelation 7:9-10 | CBC, WOL, SGH | great multitude | Leviticus 23:40; Zechariah 14:16 (Feast of Booths, palm branches) | Medium. Ties to Unity of Jews and Gentiles (baseline High) at maximal, universal scope — must not be softened. |
| Revelation 7:14 | JWV, AFV | the great multitude | Daniel 12:1 (time of great tribulation); Genesis 49:11 (garments washed in wine, typological echo) | High. Preserve the paradox “washed…white in the blood of the Lamb” — see 07_semantic_analysis.md. |
| Revelation 7:15-17 | NHE, AFV | God, the Lamb | Isaiah 49:10; 25:8 (no more hunger, thirst, tears); Ezekiel 34:23 (shepherd); Psalm 23:1-2 | High. Directly anticipates and is resolved at Revelation 21:3-4 — render the “shelter/tabernacle” verb consistently with 21:3 (ವಾಸಿಸುವನು/ಗುಡಾರ ಹಾಕುವನು). |

| Revelation 11:8 | JWV | ”the great city” | Isaiah 1:9-10 (Sodom); Ezekiel 16 (Jerusalem as unfaithful) | Medium. Symbolic naming, not a literal geographic identification — flag for teaching notes to avoid anti-Jewish or anti-specific-city misreadings. |
| Revelation 11:11 | AFV, RRC | the two witnesses | Ezekiel 37:5,10 (breath of life enters the dry bones) | High. Direct resurrection-typology link to baseline Resurrection of Christ doctrine; must use ಪುನರುತ್ಥಾನ-family vocabulary, never ಪುನರ್ಜನ್ಮ. |

Genesis 3:15 is the OT root of the entire dragon/serpent-defeat arc — this cross-reference should be explicitly taught alongside the nāga-veneration caution already flagged. |

| Revelation 19:8 | CBC, (Justification touchpoint) | the Bride | (echoes Isaiah 61:10, “garments of salvation… robe of righteousness”) | Critical. “Righteous deeds of the saints” ties directly to baseline Justification and Imputed Righteousness (Critical) — fruit, not ground, of righteousness; cross-reference Romans 4:3-5 explicitly (see Section 4). |
| Revelation 19:11-16 | RRC, JWV | the rider on the white horse (Christ) | Isaiah 11:4-5 (righteous judgment, “rod of his mouth”); Isaiah 63:1-3 (garments stained with blood/wine); Psalm 2:9 (rod of iron); Daniel 7:9-10 | Critical. Composite messianic-warrior theophany; “Word of God” as a personal title for Christ (see 07_semantic_analysis.md); “King of kings and Lord of lords” reprised from 17:14 — render identically. |
| Revelation 19:17-18 | JWV | an angel, birds | Ezekiel 39:17-20 (“Gog’s supper” — birds/beasts summoned to feast on the slain) | Medium-High. A grim reversal-parody of the marriage supper (19:9); teaching notes should highlight the deliberate ironic contrast, not obscure it. |
| Revelation 19:20 | JWV | the beast, false prophet | Daniel 7:11 (the beast slain, body destroyed and burned) | Critical. First full narrative occurrence of “the lake of fire” — see 08_core_glossary.md B.1. |
Revelation 20 — The Thousand Years and the Great White Throne
| Revelation Passage | Theme | Related Character(s) | OT/NT Connection | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Revelation 20:1-3 | AFV, SGH | an angel, Satan | Isaiah 24:21-22 (“host of heaven… shut up in prison… punished after many days”) | Critical. Governing OT type for Satan’s temporary binding — must be read as a real, bounded, historical restraint, not a cyclical containment-and-release pattern echoing yuga cosmology. |
| Revelation 20:4 | RRC, PFW | martyrs, thrones | Daniel 7:9,22,27 (thrones set, judgment given to the saints, everlasting kingdom) | High. |
| Revelation 20:6 | AFV, WOL | the redeemed | Isaiah 61:6 (“priests of the LORD”); Exodus 19:6 | Critical. “First resurrection” — inherits baseline Critical Resurrection flag; never ಪುನರ್ಜನ್ಮ. |
| Revelation 20:8 | JWV, SAI | Gog, Magog | Ezekiel 38–39 (eschatological invasion and defeat) | Medium. Symbolic reuse of Ezekiel’s Gog/Magog figures for a final, universal rebellion — not a specific modern nation. |
| Revelation 20:9 | JWV | fire from heaven | Ezekiel 38:22; 2 Kings 1:10 (Elijah) | Low-Medium. |
| Revelation 20:11 | JWV, SGH | God (on the great white throne) | Daniel 7:9-10; Psalm 102:25-26 (heaven and earth wear out/flee) | Critical. Directly anticipates Revelation 21:1 (“no place found for them” = the passing of the first heaven/earth). |
| Revelation 20:12-13 | JWV | the dead, books, Book of Life | Daniel 7:10; Daniel 12:1-2 (book, resurrection to life or shame); Psalm 62:12 (“you repay according to work”) | Critical. The single sharpest Chitragupta-ledger collision point in the book — see full treatment in 07_semantic_analysis.md and 08_core_glossary.md B.1; the Book of Life (grace-based) must be kept visibly distinct from “the books” (deeds, confirmatory not merit-determinative). |
| Revelation 20:14-15 | JWV, AFV | Death, Hades | Isaiah 25:8 (“he will swallow up death forever”); Hosea 13:14 | Critical. “Second death” defined here for the first time in full — governs Revelation 21:8; see 08_core_glossary.md B.1. |
Revelation 21:1-8 — Core Passage
(Full verse-by-verse OT sourcing already given in 07_semantic_analysis.md Section 1; summarized here for matrix completeness.)
| Revelation Passage | Theme | Related Character(s) | OT/NT Connection | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Revelation 21:1 | NHE | — | Isaiah 65:17; 66:22 (“new heavens and a new earth”) | High. See 07_semantic_analysis.md; cyclical-cosmology caution. |
| Revelation 21:2 | NHE, CBC | the Bride/New Jerusalem | Isaiah 52:1; 61:10 (holy city, bridal imagery); Ezekiel 40–48 (temple-city vision) | High. |
| Revelation 21:3 | NHE, SGH | God | Ezekiel 37:27; Leviticus 26:11-12 (“I will dwell among them”); Zechariah 2:10-11 | High. |
| Revelation 21:4 | NHE, AFV | God | Isaiah 25:8; 35:10 (no more tears, sorrow, sighing) | High. Direct resolution of Revelation 6:9-11’s “how long?” and 7:17’s wiping of tears. |
| Revelation 21:5 | SGH, NHE | God | Isaiah 43:19 (“I am doing a new thing”) | Medium. |
| Revelation 21:6 | AFV, (baseline Grace) | God | Isaiah 55:1 (“come, buy wine and milk without money and without price”) | High. Direct OT root of the grace-not-merit invitation; cross-reference Romans 3:24; 6:23 explicitly (see Section 4). |
| Revelation 21:7 | CBC, (baseline Adoption) | overcomers | 2 Samuel 7:14 (Davidic sonship formula); Isaiah 41:10 | Critical. See 07_semantic_analysis.md. |
| Revelation 21:8 | JWV | the condemned | (vice-list form echoes) Exodus 20 (Decalogue prohibitions: murder, adultery/idolatry, false witness) | Critical. See 07_semantic_analysis.md full treatment. |
Revelation 21:9-27 — The New Jerusalem Described
| Revelation Passage | Theme | Related Character(s) | OT/NT Connection | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Revelation 21:10-11 | NHE, SGH | John, the city | Ezekiel 40:2; 43:2,5 (visionary transport to a high mountain, glory filling the temple) | High. |
| Revelation 21:12-14 | NHE, CBC | twelve tribes, twelve apostles | Ezekiel 48:30-35 (twelve gates named for the tribes) | High. Reuses baseline ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್, ಅಪೊಸ್ತಲ; ties to Unity of Jews and Gentiles. |
| Revelation 21:15-17 | NHE, SAI | the measuring angel | Ezekiel 40:3-5; 42:15-20 (measuring the temple-city) | Medium. |
| Revelation 21:19-20 | NHE | — | Isaiah 54:11-12 (foundations of precious stones); Exodus 28:17-20 (breastplate stones) | Medium. |
| Revelation 21:22 | NHE, WOL | God, the Lamb | Ezekiel 48:35 (“the LORD is there”); (implicit contrast with the entire temple-cultus tradition) | Critical. “No temple” is the climactic negation of the ναός motif traced since Revelation 3:12; positive theological payoff (direct access) must be foregrounded, not merely flagged as culturally risky. |
| Revelation 21:23-24 | NHE, SGH | God’s glory, the Lamb | Isaiah 60:3,19-20 (nations walk by Zion’s light; the LORD as everlasting light) | High. Reuses baseline ಮಹಿಮೆ (High); direct evidence for shared divine glory of God and the Lamb. |
| Revelation 21:25 | NHE | — | Isaiah 60:11 (gates never shut) | Low. |
| Revelation 21:27 | JWV, NHE | — | Isaiah 52:1; Ezekiel 44:9 (nothing unclean/uncircumcised in heart enters the sanctuary) | Critical. Reuses ಕುರಿಮರಿಯ ಜೀವ ಪುಸ್ತಕ — see 08_core_glossary.md B.1. |
Revelation 22 — The River of Life, the Tree of Life, the Epilogue
| Revelation Passage | Theme | Related Character(s) | OT/NT Connection | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Revelation 22:1-2 | NHE | God, the Lamb | Ezekiel 47:1-12 (river flowing from the temple, healing trees); Genesis 2:9-10 (Eden’s river and tree); Zechariah 14:8 | High. See ಜೀವಜಲದ ನದಿ / ಜೀವ ವೃಕ್ಷ, sacred-river and kalpavṛkṣa cautions (08_core_glossary.md). |
| Revelation 22:3 | NHE, SGH | God, the Lamb | Zechariah 14:11; Genesis 3:17 (the curse, now reversed) | Medium. Direct Genesis-to-Revelation bookend; strong teaching opportunity for Sovereignty of God over History. |
| Revelation 22:4 | WOL, CBC | the redeemed | Numbers 6:27 (the priestly blessing, God’s name placed on his people); (contrast) Exodus 33:20 (“no one may see my face and live”) | Critical. The direct, permanent, unmediated vision of God’s face is the climactic reversal of Exodus 33:20 — a major teaching point for Assurance of God’s Final Victory over Evil and the safety of the forehead-seal motif (contrast the beast’s mark, ch. 13). |
| Revelation 22:5 | RRC, AFV | the redeemed | Isaiah 60:19 (no need of sun, the LORD is everlasting light); Daniel 7:18,27 (the saints possess the kingdom forever) | High. “Reign forever” — see Aikya-merger caution, 08_core_glossary.md B.2. |
| Revelation 22:8-9 | WOL | John, an angel | Daniel 8:17; 10:9-17 (visionary prostration before an angel, then corrected) | Medium. Useful didactic parallel: even a true angelic messenger refuses worship — sharpens Worship of the Lamb by contrast (the Lamb alone, unlike the angel, rightly receives worship, cf. ch. 5). |
| Revelation 22:12-13 | RRC, JWV | Jesus Christ | Isaiah 40:10; 62:11 (“his reward is with him”); Isaiah 44:6 (Alpha/Omega, first/last, repeated from 1:8,17; 21:6) | Critical. Render identically to Revelation 1:8,17 and 21:6 per the baseline’s cross-document consistency rule. |
| Revelation 22:14-15 | JWV, AFV | the blessed; those excluded | Deuteronomy 23:18 (“dogs,” cultic exclusion); Isaiah 4:3-4 | Medium-High. Vice-list parallels Revelation 21:8; maintain identical excluded-category vocabulary for consistency. |
| Revelation 22:16 | RRC, (baseline Messianic Promise) | Jesus Christ | Isaiah 11:1,10 (root of Jesse); Numbers 24:17 (“a star shall come out of Jacob”) | Critical. See morning-star/astrology caution, 08_core_glossary.md B.2. |
| Revelation 22:17 | AFV, CBC | the Spirit, the Bride | Isaiah 55:1 (repeated from 21:6) | High. |
| Revelation 22:18-19 | SAI, (baseline Inspiration of Scripture) | — | Deuteronomy 4:2; 12:32 (“do not add to or take away from the word”) | High. Direct OT covenant-document formula applied to Revelation itself — strong textual-authority claim; ties to baseline Inspiration of Scripture (High). |
| Revelation 22:21 | (baseline Grace) | the Lord Jesus, all | (epistolary form, cf. Pauline benedictions, e.g. Romans 16:20,24) | High. Closes Revelation exactly as Paul closes Romans — see Section 4 rendering-consistency rule. |
3. Messianic References and Typology Summary
| Type/Pattern | OT Root | Revelation Fulfillment | Doctrine(s) | Kannada Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Passover Lamb | Exodus 12:1-13,21-27 | Revelation 5:6,9,12; 7:14; 12:11 — the slain Lamb whose blood redeems | Worship of the Lamb; Assurance of Final Victory | ಕುರಿಮರಿ; must not be assimilated to bali (sacrificial-animal) ritual traditions. |
| Suffering Servant | Isaiah 52:13-53:12 | Revelation 5:6 (silent lamb led to slaughter, standing as slain) | Worship of the Lamb; Deity of Christ | Anchor for ಕುರಿಮರಿ’s worthiness (5:9,12). |
| Davidic King/Root of Jesse | Genesis 49:9-10; 2 Samuel 7:12-16; Isaiah 11:1,10 | Revelation 5:5; 22:16 (“Root and descendant of David”) | Return and Reign of Christ; Davidic Covenant (baseline High) | Reuse baseline ದಾವೀದ, ದಾವೀದನ ವಂಶದಿಂದ. |
| Danielic Son of Man | Daniel 7:13-14 | Revelation 1:7,13; 14:14 | Return and Reign of Christ; Deity of Christ | Consistent rendering of “coming with the clouds” across 1:7 and 14:14. |
| Psalm 2 Messianic King | Psalm 2:1-9 | Revelation 2:26-27; 11:18; 12:5; 19:15 (“rod of iron”) | Return and Reign of Christ; Judgment of the Wicked | Render “rod of iron” identically at every occurrence. |
| Protoevangelium (serpent-crusher) | Genesis 3:15 | Revelation 12:7-9,13-17; 20:2,10 (the ancient serpent finally defeated) | Assurance of God’s Final Victory over Evil | Critical — do not soften the serpent’s identity as Satan; see nāga-veneration caution. |
| Exodus deliverance/plagues | Exodus 7-12; 15 | Revelation 8-9, 15-16 (trumpet/bowl plagues; Song of Moses and the Lamb) | Sovereignty of God over History | The plague-pattern is deliberately reused, not newly invented — a single continuous redemptive story. |
| New Exodus / New Creation | Isaiah 43:19; 65:17; 66:22 | Revelation 21:1,5 (new heaven/earth, “I am making all things new”) | The New Heaven and New Earth | Critical — one final, non-repeating renewal; not a cosmic cycle. |
| Ezekiel’s Temple-City Vision | Ezekiel 40-48 | Revelation 21:9-22:5 (New Jerusalem, river, tree, no temple) | New Heaven and New Earth; Worship of the Lamb | Governs the entire closing vision; note the positive negation (no temple needed) as climax, not loss. |
| Marriage Covenant Renewed | Hosea 2:14-20; Isaiah 54:5-8; 61:10; 62:4-5 | Revelation 19:7-9; 21:2,9; 22:17 (Bride of the Lamb) | Church as Bride of Christ | Corporate covenant renewal — see bhakti bridal-mysticism caution. |
| Priest-King people | Exodus 19:5-6 | Revelation 1:6; 5:10; 20:6 | Worship of the Lamb | Caste-priesthood caution (ಯಾಜಕರು). |
4. Parallels to Other Curricula in This Language (Romans) — Rendering Consistency Rules
Because Romans is the anchor curriculum for this Kannada Language Package, every shared quotation, doctrine, or Pauline-Johannine theological convergence below must use the identical established Kannada rendering already fixed in the Romans baseline, not a fresh translation.
| Shared Element | Romans Reference | Revelation Reference | Rendering-Consistency Rule |
|---|---|---|---|
| Justification/imputed righteousness | Romans 3:21-26; 4:3-5,22-24 (citing Genesis 15:6); 5:1 | Revelation 19:8 (“righteous deeds of the saints”) | Use baseline ನೀತಿವಂತಿಕೆ / ಆರೋಪಿತ ನೀತಿ exactly. Revelation 19:8’s “righteous deeds” must be taught as the fruit of the Romans 4 imputed-righteousness pattern, never as its ground — the two texts must not be allowed to contradict each other in Kannada. |
| Grace as unmerited gift | Romans 3:24; 4:4-5; 6:23; 11:5-6 | Revelation 21:6; 22:17 (“without payment”/δωρεάν); 22:21 (closing benediction) | Use baseline ಕೃಪೆ and its “not by works” framing exactly; ಉಚಿತವಾಗಿ (freely) must carry the same non-negotiable weight as Romans’ grace-vs-merit contrast (karma-economy and kayaka-dasoha cautions apply equally here). |
| Lordship confession | Romans 10:9-10 (“Jesus is Lord,” ಯೇಸು ಕರ್ತನಾಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ) | Revelation 17:14; 19:16 (“King of kings and Lord of lords”) | Reuse baseline ಕರ್ತ exactly; Revelation’s superlative title must be read as the same exclusive Lordship Romans 10:9 confesses, now displayed in cosmic, visible triumph — not a separate or additional lord. |
| Resurrection | Romans 6:4-5; 8:11 | Revelation 1:18; 11:11; 20:4-6 (“first resurrection”) | Reuse baseline ಪುನರುತ್ಥಾನ exactly; NEVER ಪುನರ್ಜನ್ಮ in either curriculum — enforce identically. |
| Adoption / sonship | Romans 8:14-17,23 | Revelation 21:7 (“I will be his God and he will be my son”) | Reuse baseline ದತ್ತು ಪುತ್ರತ್ವ; both texts describe the same permanent, personal, non-dissolving relationship — teach them as a single doctrinal arc from down-payment (Romans 8) to full possession (Revelation 21). |
| Providence / sovereignty over history | Romans 8:28-30; 11:33-36 | Revelation 4-5; 11:15; 21:5 | Reuse baseline ದೇವರ ಪರಿಪಾಲನೆ where the providence doctrine is directly in view (e.g., teaching notes on Revelation 11:15’s “all things” being brought to their intended goal); avoid ಹಣೆಬರಹ/ಕರ್ಮದ ನಿಯಮ in both. |
| Perseverance under suffering | Romans 5:3-4; 8:18,25,35-39 | Revelation 1:9; 2:10; 3:10; 13:10; 14:12 | ಸಂಕಟ/ಶ್ರಮೆ and ತಾಳ್ಮೆ (endurance) should track the Romans 5:3-4 “suffering produces endurance” logic; Revelation intensifies this into literal martyrdom but the theological grammar (suffering-for-the-faith, not karmic misfortune) must remain identical. |
| Unity of Jews and Gentiles / universal scope | Romans 3:29-30; 10:12-13; 11:17-24 | Revelation 5:9; 7:9; 21:24-26 | Reuse baseline ಅನ್ಯಜನಾಂಗದವರು and the “no distinction” framing; the “great multitude from every nation” (Revelation 7:9) is the eschatological completion of Romans’ Jew-Gentile unity doctrine — do not soften either text’s universality. |
| Power of God / Almighty | Romans 1:16 (δύναμις θεοῦ, ದೇವರ ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯ) | Revelation 1:8; 4:8; 11:17; 19:6 (παντοκράτωρ) | The Revelation curriculum EXTENDS the baseline’s forbidden-substitution rule: never ಶಕ್ತಿ or any ಶಕ್ತ-rooted adjective for either δύναμις or παντοκράτωρ. Use ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯ-rooted vocabulary consistently across both curricula. |
| Obedience of faith | Romans 1:5; 16:26 (ὑπακοὴ πίστεως) | Revelation 14:12 (“keep the commandments of God and their faith in Jesus”) | Reuse baseline ನಂಬಿಕೆಯ ವಿಧೇಯತ್ವ conceptually; Revelation 14:12 should be taught as this same faith-flowing-obedience, not law-driven merit, especially given the beast-worship pressure surrounding it. |
| God’s wrath and judgment | Romans 1:18; 2:5-11; 12:19 | Revelation 6:16-17; 14:10,19; 16:1,19; 19:15 | Both curricula ground wrath in God’s personal, moral judgment — never render as an impersonal cosmic-law consequence (karma); reuse ಕೋಪ (wrath/anger) consistently, paired with ನ್ಯಾಯತೀರ್ಪು (judgment) rather than ಕರ್ಮ-language. |
| Book of Life / final judgment by deeds | Romans 2:6-11,16 (“God will judge…according to their deeds”; “on the day when God judges”) | Revelation 20:12-13; 22:12 | Both texts already resist a karma-ledger reading in the baseline (Romans 2 doctrine notes on Universal Human Accountability); extend the same Chitragupta-avoidance framing to Revelation 20’s “books,” teaching both as a single, personal, one-time forensic judgment. |
| Amen / Hallelujah / doxological closings | Romans 1:25; 9:5; 11:36; 16:27 | Revelation 1:6-7; 5:14; 19:1,3,4,6; 22:20-21 | Reuse established ಆಮೆನ್ and ಹಲ್ಲೆಲೂಯಾ transliterations exactly; both curricula close major sections with identical liturgical vocabulary. |
5. Full-Book Coverage Confirmation
Every chapter of Revelation (1–22) has been reviewed for OT quotation/allusion, messianic reference, and typology in this cross-reference matrix. Chapters with a narrower or repeated allusion base (16, 18) are explicitly noted as reviewed with their governing OT source-texts identified rather than silently omitted. No chapter was skipped.
See analysis/07_semantic_analysis.md for full verse-level argumentation and analysis/08_core_glossary.md for the consolidated term list underlying the Kannada renderings cited above.
See analysis/10_biblical_theme_map.md for the thematic structure this cross-reference matrix feeds into.
