Core Glossary
Core Glossary — 1 Chronicles (English → Hindi)
This glossary consolidates every load-bearing term identified in 07_semantic_analysis.md, drawn from every chapter of 1 Chronicles (1–29). Terms already fixed in the baseline Romans/Galatians translation_memory.json are marked (TM reuse) and their recorded rendering is reused exactly, per the hard rule governing this run. Terms new to this OT curriculum are marked (NEW) and are proposed here for addition to translation memory before Phase 2 begins. Risk tiers follow the baseline’s four-tier convention (Critical / High / Medium / Low).
New Critical-Risk Terms Requiring Immediate Translation Memory Addition
| Term | Hebrew (translit.) | Hindi Rendering | Transliteration | Risk | Doctrine | Chapters | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| yahweh | יהוה (YHWH) | यहोवा | Yahovā | Critical | God’s Faithfulness across Generations; foundational to all doctrines | throughout (esp. 17, 21, 29) | New entry not present in NT-keyed baseline. Must never collapse into generic परमेश्वर; preserves the personal covenant-name distinction. Mandatory theologian review. |
| house_dynasty_wordplay | בַּיִת (bayit) | घर / भवन (literal); घराना / वंश (dynastic) | ghar/bhavana; gharānā/vaṃśa | Critical | The Davidic Covenant Reaffirmed | 17:1,4,5,6,10,12,14; 22; 28 | The chapter’s central pun (temple vs. dynasty) must be flagged with a translator note at first and resolving occurrences; बनाना preserves the “build” wordplay verb. |
| anoint | מָשַׁח (mashach) | अभिषेक करना | abhiṣeka karnā | Critical | The Davidic Covenant Reaffirmed; Worship and the Levitical Order | 11:3; 29:22 | Direct collision with Hindu deity-image abhishek ritual. Mandatory translator note every occurrence distinguishing one-time divine office-designation from repeatable devotional image-ritual. |
| davidic_sonship (17:13) | אָב/בֵּן formula | पिता…पुत्र (not the full “परमेश्वर का पुत्र” phrase) | pitā…putra | Critical | The Davidic Covenant Reaffirmed | 17:13 | Typologically anticipates but is categorically distinct from the baseline Critical son_of_god doctrine (Christ’s eternal Sonship). Mandatory theologian review with typology note. |
| the_lords_throne (29:23) | כִּסֵּא יְהוָה | यहोवा का सिंहासन | Yahovā kā siṃhāsana | Critical | The Davidic Covenant Reaffirmed | 17:14; 29:23 | Explicit identification of the Davidic throne with God’s own throne/kingdom; render literally, flag for theologian review. |
New High-Risk Terms
| Term | Hebrew (translit.) | Hindi Rendering | Transliteration | Risk | Doctrine | Chapters | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| lord_of_hosts | יְהוָה צְבָאוֹת (YHWH tseva’ot) | सेनाओं का यहोवा | senāoṃ kā Yahovā | High | God’s Faithfulness across Generations | 17:7 | Extends the yahweh entry; total sovereign command, not a war-god among war-gods. |
| ark_of_the_covenant | אֲרוֹן בְּרִית־יהוה | वाचा का सन्दूक / यहोवा की वाचा का सन्दूक | vācā kā sanduka | High | Worship and the Levitical Order | 13; 15; 16; 17:1 | Combines TM-reused वाचा with सन्दूक; never render as generic “box.” |
| steadfast_love (chesed) | חֶסֶד | करुणा | karuṇā | High | The Davidic Covenant Reaffirmed; God’s Faithfulness across Generations | 16:34,41; 17:13 | Established BSI rendering; distinguish from Buddhist/Hindu compassion-practice via mandatory note — this is covenant-bound loyal love, not generalized compassion. |
| prophetic_vision (chazon) | חָזוֹן / חִזָּיוֹן | दर्शन | darśana | High | God’s Faithfulness across Generations; Davidic Covenant | 17:15 | Same Hindi word rejected for “revelation” in the Galatians baseline (devotee’s mystical sight of a deity). Mandatory note distinguishing bounded prophetic disclosure from devotional/mystical vision-practice. |
| thus_says_the_lord | כֹּה־אָמַר יְהוָה | यहोवा यों कहता है | Yahovā yoṅ kahatā hai | High | God’s Faithfulness across Generations | 17:4 and recurring | Fixed prophetic formula; render identically at every occurrence. |
| servant_of_the_lord (David) | עֶבֶד (eved) | सेवक | sevaka | High | The Davidic Covenant Reaffirmed | 17:4,7 | Keep distinct from दास/दासत्व (bondage register, per Galatians baseline). |
| establish (kun root) | כּוּן / הֵכִין / הֵעֱמִיד | स्थिर करना / स्थापित करना (covenant sense); तैयार करना (preparation sense) | sthira karnā; taiyār karnā | High | The Davidic Covenant Reaffirmed; Preparation for the Temple | 17:11,12,14; 22; 28 | Same Hebrew root spans both senses; cross-reference note recommended to preserve the thematic link Hindi cannot fully carry in one surface word. |
| forever (olam) | עַד־עוֹלָם | सदा के लिये / अनन्तकाल तक | sadā ke liye | High | The Davidic Covenant Reaffirmed | 17:12,14 | True unending eternity; not a bounded long era or cyclical epoch. |
| kingdom (malkut, Davidic) | מַלְכוּת | राज्य | rājya | High | The Davidic Covenant Reaffirmed | 17:11,14; 29:23 | Same noun as baseline kingdom_of_god; note required distinguishing the historical dynasty from, while showing continuity with, the fuller NT doctrine. |
| tabernacle (mishkan) | מִשְׁכָּן | निवासस्थान | nivāsasthāna | High | Worship and the Levitical Order; Preparation for the Temple | 17:5 | Do not use मन्दिर at this narrative stage — the point is God had not yet dwelt in a fixed temple. |
| house_of_the_lord (temple sense) | בֵּית יְהוָה | यहोवा का भवन (preferred) / मन्दिर (contextual only) | Yahovā kā bhavana | High | Preparation for the Temple | 22 and following | मन्दिर risks strong Hindu-temple association; भवन is the safer default. |
| unfaithfulness (ma’al) | מָעַל | विश्वासघात करना | viśvāsghāta karnā | High | Genealogy and Continuity; Davidic Covenant | 5:25; 10:13 | Covenant betrayal specifically, not generic wrongdoing. |
| medium/necromancer (‘ov) | אוֹב | भूत-प्रेत का माध्यम / तांत्रिक-सिद्धि माँगनेवाला | bhūta-preta kā mādhyama | High | God’s Faithfulness across Generations (contrast) | 10:13 | Live occult-practice collision in Indian context; pastoral, non-sensationalizing note required. |
| burnt_offering (olah) | עוֹלָה | होमबलि | homabali | High | Worship and the Levitical Order; Preparation for the Temple | 21:26 and Levitical chapters | Established BSI term but direct collision with Hindu havan/homa ritual; mandatory distinguishing note every occurrence. |
| altar (mizbe’ach) | מִזְבֵּח | वेदी | vedī | Medium-High | Worship and the Levitical Order | 21:18-26; 22 | Collision with Hindu ritual वेदी (havan/yajna platforms); note that this altar is dedicated exclusively to YHWH. |
| angel_of_the_lord | מַלְאַךְ יְהוָה | यहोवा का स्वर्गदूत | Yahovā kā svargaduta | Medium-High | God’s Faithfulness across Generations | 21:15-27 | Distinguish from देवदूत/minor-deity messenger figures; God’s own personal agent. |
| pattern/design (tavnit) | תַּבְנִית | नमूना / रचना | namūnā/racanā | Medium | Preparation for the Temple | 28:11-19 | Avoid यंत्र-adjacent vocabulary; blueprint is authoritative because divinely given, not independently mystical. |
| gatekeeper (sho’er) | שׁוֹעֵר | द्वारपाल | dvārapāla | Medium | Worship and the Levitical Order | 9; 26 | Distinguish from Hindu temple dvarapalaka guardian-icon figures; these are rostered Levitical officers. |
| service/ministry (avodah) | עֲבוֹדָה | सेवा | sevā | Medium-High | Worship and the Levitical Order | 23-26 | Distinguish from generalized Hindu bhakti-seva; this is a divinely rostered, Levite-specific liturgical office. |
| everything_from_your_hand | מִיָּדְךָ | यह सब तेरे ही हाथ से मिला है | — | Medium-High | Preparation for the Temple; grace-adjacent | 29:14,16 | Undercuts human-merit reading of freewill offerings; note the grace-priority resonance. |

Chapters Confirmed as Introducing No New Load-Bearing Theological Vocabulary
The following chapters were reviewed in full and confirmed to reuse terminology already tabled above, introducing no new theological terms requiring glossary entries: Chapter 3, Chapter 8, Chapter 12, Chapter 14, Chapter 19, Chapter 20, Chapter 27. Each is addressed explicitly in 07_semantic_analysis.md with a statement of reuse and, where relevant, its narrative function within the surrounding doctrinal material.
This glossary must be merged into an updated translation_memory.json and bible_term_registry.json before Phase 2 segment translation begins for 1 Chronicles, per the Pre-flight Checklist in 12_ai_translation_requirements.md. All Critical and High-risk new entries above require human theologian review before first use.
Critical Risk Terms
God
Approved rendering: परमेश्वर
Transliteration: Parameśvara
Doctrine: Deity of Christ
Rejected alternatives: ईश्वर, भगवान
Original: אֱלֹהִים
Category: God
परमेश्वर (Supreme Lord) is the BSI OV standard. ईश्वर is used in some contexts; both are acceptable but परमेश्वर is preferred for doctrinal precision. भगवान has broad Hindu deity usage — avoid. Inherited from Romans package. In 1 Chronicles, परमेश्वर renders the generic Hebrew noun אֱלֹהִים (Elohim) and must be kept visibly distinct in surrounding prose from the new Critical entry यहोवा (yahweh), which renders God’s personal covenant name — the two are never interchangeable renderings of the same underlying Hebrew word.
Messiah
Approved rendering: मसीह
Transliteration: Masīha
Doctrine: Messianic Promise
Rejected alternatives: अभिषिक्त व्यक्ति, देव-दूत
Transliterated term; established in all Hindi Bible traditions. The Anointed One fulfilling OT promise. Not one of many divine figures. Inherited from Romans package. Retained for this OT curriculum because the Davidic Covenant of 1 Chronicles 17 is this term’s Old Testament fountainhead; 1 Chronicles 17:13’s father-son formula must never be conflated with this term applied to Christ — see davidic_sonship.
Holy Spirit
Approved rendering: पवित्र आत्मा
Transliteration: Pavitra Ātmā
Doctrine: Prophetic Revelation and the Word of God
Rejected alternatives: ब्रह्म, परमात्मा, देव-आत्मा
CRITICAL: Never use ब्रह्म (Hindu Brahman) or परमात्मा alone. Inherited from Romans package. 1 Chronicles 28:12’s bare आत्मा (‘the Spirit,’ by whom David received the temple’s plan) must be tied by note to this full doctrinal entry — see the_spirit_in_revelation — since आत्मा alone is ambiguous in Hindi (also ‘soul/self’).
Father
Approved rendering: पिता
Transliteration: Pitā
Doctrine: Davidic Sonship as Typology of Christ
Rejected alternatives: ब्रह्मा, सृष्टिकर्ता
God as personal Father. Never use Hindu creator deity names. Inherited from Romans package. In 1 Chronicles 17:13’s covenant formula (‘I will be to him a father’), पिता is used in a royal-adoptive covenant sense applied to Solomon, distinct from — though typologically related to — the intimate Abba-Father register of the baseline Adoption doctrine; keep the genealogical ‘ancestor’ sense of पिता (see son_of_father_of) visually distinct from both.
Lord
Approved rendering: प्रभु
Transliteration: Prabhu
Doctrine: Israelite Kingship as an Instrument of God’s Own Sovereignty
Rejected alternatives: स्वामी, ईश्वर
Established term for exclusive, supreme Lordship. Inherited from Romans package. In 1 Chronicles, प्रभु is used only where the English text uses the generic title ‘Lord’; wherever the Hebrew personal name יהוה is in view, the new Critical entry यहोवा must be used instead — the two terms must never be treated as interchangeable in this OT book.
Son Of God
Approved rendering: परमेश्वर का पुत्र
Transliteration: Parameśvara kā putra
Doctrine: Davidic Sonship as Typology of Christ
Rejected alternatives: ईश्वर का अंश, देव-पुरुष
CRITICAL: Full phrase required, reserved exclusively for Christ’s eternal, unique, co-equal Sonship. Inherited from Romans package. This exact phrase must NEVER be used to render 1 Chronicles 17:13’s covenant formula over Solomon (‘he shall be to me a son’); that verse must use only पिता…पुत्र in ordinary syntax — see davidic_sonship. This entry is retained in the 1 Chronicles translation memory specifically to enforce that boundary, not because the full phrase itself occurs in this book.
Yahweh
Approved rendering: यहोवा
Transliteration: Yahovā
Doctrine: The Divine Name and Covenant Identity of God
Rejected alternatives: परमेश्वर (would erase the personal covenant-name distinction), ब्रह्म, देवता, ईश्वर (alone, without name-distinction)
Original: יהוה
Category: God
NEW entry, not present in the NT-keyed Romans/Galatians baseline. The covenant personal name of God (יהוה), occurring over 500 times in 1 Chronicles. Must never be collapsed into the generic परमेश्वर, which would erase the book’s persistent Hebrew distinction between the personal covenant name and the class-noun for deity (Elohim), and must never suggest an impersonal ultimate reality (ब्रह्म) or a class-noun deity (देवता) among many, as in the dominant Hindu tradition. Mandatory theologian review on first introduction and at every doctrinally load-bearing occurrence (chs. 17, 21, 29).
Lord Of Hosts
Approved rendering: सेनाओं का यहोवा
Transliteration: senāoṃ kā Yahovā
Doctrine: The Divine Name and Covenant Identity of God
Original: יְהוָה צְבָאוֹת
Category: God
1 Chronicles 17:7 (יְהוָה צְבָאוֹת). Extends the yahweh entry. Must not be rendered so as to suggest a martial deity among other war-gods in a pantheon (a live risk given Hindu warrior-deities such as Kartikeya/Durga as commanders of celestial hosts); this is the one sovereign God’s title of total, exclusive command.
House Dynasty Wordplay
Approved rendering: घर / भवन (भवन-अर्थ); घराना / वंश (वंश-अर्थ); क्रिया: बनाना
Transliteration: ghar / bhavana (bhavana-artha); gharānā / vaṃśa (vaṃśa-artha); kriyā: banānā
Doctrine: The Davidic Covenant Reaffirmed
Original: בַּיִת
Category: Covenant
1 Chronicles 17:1,4,5,6,10,12,14; resolved further in chs. 22, 28. The chapter’s central pun (בַּיִת, bayit = both ‘physical building/temple’ and ‘household/dynasty’): David wants to build God a house; God instead promises to build David a House. घर/भवन for the literal building sense; घराना/वंश for the dynastic sense; बनाना (to build) retained as the shared verb throughout because Hindi बनाना naturally carries both ‘construct’ and ‘establish a family/institution’ senses, preserving the pun on the key verb. Mandatory translator note required at the first occurrence (17:1) and again at its resolution (17:10,12), so reviewers do not ‘correct’ it into two unrelated verbs.
Anoint
Approved rendering: अभिषेक करना
Transliteration: abhiṣeka karanā
Doctrine: Anointing as Divine Designation to Office
1 Chronicles 11:3 (David); 29:22 (Solomon and Zadok). מָשַׁח (mashach). अभिषेक is also the standard term for Hindu ritual anointing of deity images (abhishekam — pouring milk, water, honey, etc. over an idol as a repeatable act of devotional worship). Mandatory translator note required on every occurrence distinguishing biblical anointing — God’s own one-time act of designating a specific human servant for covenant office — from Hindu image-abhishek, in which the worshipper acts upon the deity’s image, the reverse direction.
Davidic Sonship
Approved rendering: मैं उसका पिता होऊँगा, और वह मेरा पुत्र होगा
Transliteration: maiṃ usakā pitā hoūṅgā, aura vaha merā putra hogā
Doctrine: Davidic Sonship as Typology of Christ
Rejected alternatives: परमेश्वर का पुत्र (reserved exclusively for Christ’s eternal, unique, co-equal Sonship)
Original: אֲנִי אֶהְיֶה־לּוֹ לְאָב וְהוּא יִהְיֶה־לִּי לְבֵן
Category: Christology
1 Chronicles 17:13 (אֲנִי אֶהְיֶה־לּוֹ לְאָב וְהוּא יִהְיֶה־לִּי לְבֵן), read messianically of Christ in Hebrews 1:5. The covenantal father-son adoption formula spoken over the Davidic heir (Solomon, first instance). Must be rendered with पिता…पुत्र, NOT the full baseline Critical phrase परमेश्वर का पुत्र. This verse is typologically anticipatory of, but categorically distinct from, that doctrine. Mandatory theologian review with a note explaining the Solomon/Christ typological relationship and the boundary against collapsing the two; also note the adjacent Islamic sensitivity around any sonship-of-God language, per 04_comparative_theology.md.
The Lords Throne
Approved rendering: यहोवा का सिंहासन
Transliteration: Yahovā kā siṃhāsana
Doctrine: Israelite Kingship as an Instrument of God’s Own Sovereignty
Original: כִּסֵּא יְהוָה
Category: Kingship
1 Chronicles 29:23 (כִּסֵּא יְהוָה), previewed at 17:14 (‘my house and my kingdom’). The explicit identification of Solomon’s throne with God’s own throne — the single clearest verse in the book equating human Davidic kingship with the divine kingdom itself. Render literally; must not be softened into a merely honorific comparison. Mandatory theologian review given direct bearing on the Davidic Covenant Reaffirmed and kingdom_of_god-adjacent doctrines.
High Risk Terms
Grace
Approved rendering: अनुग्रह
Transliteration: anugraha
Doctrine: Grace
Rejected alternatives: कृपा, दया, वरदान, भाग्य, कर्म-फल, पुण्य
Must convey unmerited favor apart from any human merit. Directly counters karma worldview. कृपा may be used for mercy/compassion in non-grace contexts only. Inherited from Romans package. Relevant to 1 Chronicles 29:14,16 (‘everything from your hand’) — David’s confession that the people’s freewill gifts originate in God’s own prior giving resonates with, though is not identical to, this doctrine; see the new everything_from_your_hand entry.
Covenant
Approved rendering: वाचा
Transliteration: vācā
Doctrine: The Davidic Covenant Reaffirmed
Rejected alternatives: अनुबंध, समझौता
Original: בְּרִית
Category: Covenant
Relational covenant bond; more than a legal contract. Established in BSI OV. Inherited from Romans package. Governs the Ark’s title (यहोवा की वाचा का सन्दूक), David’s Hebron kingship covenant (11:3), and the Davidic Covenant of chapter 17.
Election
Approved rendering: परमेश्वर का चुनाव
Transliteration: Parameśvara kā cunāva
Doctrine: God’s Election and Divine Choice of David’s Line
Rejected alternatives: भाग्य, नियति, किस्मत
Original: בָּחַר
Category: Election
God’s sovereign personal choice; not karma-determined fate or impersonal destiny. Inherited from Romans package. Governs 1 Chronicles 28:4-6,10 — God’s choice of Judah, David (the youngest, not the firstborn), Jerusalem, and Solomon, deliberately overriding the birth-order/firstborn expectation established by the book’s own genealogies (see firstborn_bekhor).
Glory
Approved rendering: महिमा
Transliteration: mahimā
Doctrine: Deity of Christ
Rejected alternatives: देव-ज्योति, प्रकाश
Original: כָּבוֹד
Category: God
God’s radiant presence and honor. Avoid light-metaphors that could conflate with Hindu divine light concepts. Inherited from Romans package. Governs David’s doxology (1 Chronicles 16:24-29; 29:11) as part of the doxological cluster.
Power Of God
Approved rendering: परमेश्वर की सामर्थ्य
Transliteration: Parameśvara kī sāmarthya
Doctrine: Preparation for the Temple
Rejected alternatives: शक्ति, ताकत
Original: גְּבוּרָה
Category: God
Use सामर्थ्य; never शक्ति (Hindu Shakti concept). Inherited from Romans package. Governs गְּבוּרָה (gevurah) in David’s closing doxological cluster (1 Chronicles 29:11-12).
Sovereignty
Approved rendering: परमेश्वर की संप्रभुता
Transliteration: Parameśvara kī samprabhutā
Doctrine: Israelite Kingship as an Instrument of God’s Own Sovereignty
Rejected alternatives: भाग्य, नियति
Original: implicit in 1 Chronicles 29:11-12 (‘yours is the kingdom… you rule over all’)
Category: God
God’s personal rule; never impersonal fate/karma. Inherited from Romans package. Governs David’s closing doxology (1 Chronicles 29:11-12, ‘yours is the kingdom… you rule over all’).
Wrath Of God
Approved rendering: परमेश्वर का क्रोध
Transliteration: Parameśvara kā krodha
Doctrine: The Ark and God’s Sacred Presence
Rejected alternatives: बदला
Original: אַף / חֳרִי
Category: God
God’s settled, righteous judgment against sin; never personal revenge (बदला) or capricious anger. Inherited from Romans package. Governs God’s response to Uzzah touching the ark improperly (1 Chronicles 13:10-11) and to David’s census (21:14-17) — must never be read as capricious or ritual-error-triggered anger analogous to some Hindu deity narratives, but as righteous response to covenant/holiness violation.
Worship
Approved rendering: आराधना
Transliteration: ārādhanā
Doctrine: Worship and the Levitical Order
Rejected alternatives: पूजा
NEVER पूजा — carries Hindu ritual-offering connotation. Inherited from Romans package. Governs the whole-book theme of ordered, God-directed worship expressed through the Levitical order, music, and sacrifice.
Holy
Approved rendering: पवित्र
Transliteration: pavitra
Doctrine: Worship and the Levitical Order
Rejected alternatives: शुद्ध, निर्मल
पवित्र = set apart for God; morally pure. शुद्ध has ritual purity connotations. Inherited from Romans package. Root for the reflexive sanctify_consecrate entry (הִתְקַדֵּשׁ, 15:12,14).
Sanctification
Approved rendering: पवित्रीकरण
Transliteration: pavitrikaraṇa
Doctrine: Worship and the Levitical Order
Rejected alternatives: सफाई, शुद्धिकरण
Process of being made holy by the Spirit. Distinct from Hindu ritual purification (shuddhi). Inherited from Romans package.
Seed Of David
Approved rendering: दाऊद के वंश से
Transliteration: Dāūda ke vaṃśa se
Doctrine: The Davidic Covenant Reaffirmed
Romans 1:3; conveys physical lineage and OT covenant fulfillment. Inherited from Romans package. This is the direct New Testament descendant of 1 Chronicles 17:11’s זֶרַע (zera, ‘offspring/seed’) promise — see the new offspring_seed entry, which uses the same noun वंश and carries the identical singular/plural sensitivity.
Kingship Of Jesus
Approved rendering: यीशु का राजत्व
Transliteration: Yīśu kā rājatva
Doctrine: Israelite Kingship as an Instrument of God’s Own Sovereignty
Adjacent to the Critical Lordship doctrine. Inherited from Romans package. Retained here as the New Testament terminus of the typological line running from David’s/Solomon’s kingship (1 Chronicles 17, 29:23) through to Christ’s eternal kingship; keep distinct from the historical-dynastic king_melek and kingdom_malkut entries.
Idolatry
Approved rendering: मूर्तिपूजा
Transliteration: mūrtipūjā
Doctrine: Sin and Divine Judgment
Romans 1:23. Direct term; handle pastorally in Hindu-background contexts but do not soften the biblical claim. Inherited from Romans package. Relevant background to the unfaithfulness_maal entry (1 Chronicles 5:25), where idolatry is named as the specific covenant-breaking act leading to the Transjordan tribes’ exile.
Ark Of The Covenant
Approved rendering: यहोवा की वाचा का सन्दूक / परमेश्वर का सन्दूक
Transliteration: Yahovā kī vācā kā sanduka / Parameśvara kā sanduka
Doctrine: The Ark and God’s Sacred Presence
Rejected alternatives: डिब्बा (generic ‘box’)
Original: אֲרוֹן בְּרִית־יְהוָה / אֲרוֹן הָאֱלֹהִים
Category: Worship
1 Chronicles 13; 15; 16; 17:1 (אֲרוֹן בְּרִית־יְהוָה / אֲרוֹן הָאֱלֹהִים). The sacred gold-covered chest containing the tablets of the Law, God’s earthly throne/footstool and the visible sign of his covenant presence. Combines the TM-reused वाचा with सन्दूक; must never be abbreviated to bare सन्दूक, and never rendered with a generic term for ‘box,’ which would strip the sacred, covenant-bearing significance central to the Worship and the Levitical Order doctrine.
Steadfast Love Chesed
Approved rendering: करुणा
Transliteration: karuṇā
Doctrine: God’s Faithfulness across Generations
Original: חֶסֶד
Category: Covenant
1 Chronicles 16:34,41; 17:13 (חֶסֶד). God’s persistent, covenant-bound faithfulness and loyal love, extended even when the human partner is undeserving; guarantees God’s favor toward the Davidic line, unlike toward Saul, will not be withdrawn. करुणा is also a cardinal Buddhist/Hindu ethical virtue — compassion as a cultivated interior disposition practiced toward all beings. Mandatory translator note required distinguishing chesed as God’s own covenant-bound, freely-given, relationally-anchored loyalty to a specific covenant partner from a generalized, self-cultivated compassion-practice.
Prophetic Vision Chazon
Approved rendering: दर्शन
Transliteration: darśana
Doctrine: Prophetic Revelation and the Word of God
Original: חִזָּיוֹן / חָזוֹן
Category: Revelation
1 Chronicles 17:15 (חִזָּיוֹן / חָזוֹן). A prophetic disclosure received in a night-vision or dream-state, naming the whole Nathan oracle (vv.4-14) as a single authoritative prophetic communication. दर्शन is the same Hindi word the baseline package explicitly rejected for ‘revelation’ (ἀποκάλυψις) in Galatians because it denotes a devotee’s mystical/devotional sight of a deity attainable through ritual devotion. Mandatory translator note required on every occurrence: this दर्शन is God’s own sovereign, verbal disclosure to his prophet, not the worshipper’s attained sight of the divine.
Word Of God
Approved rendering: परमेश्वर का वचन / यहोवा का वचन
Transliteration: Parameśvara kā vacana / Yahovā kā vacana
Doctrine: Prophetic Revelation and the Word of God
Original: דְּבַר־אֱלֹהִים
Category: Revelation
1 Chronicles 17:3-4 (דְּבַר־אֱלֹהִים), correcting Nathan’s own sincere but merely human counsel in 17:2. A specific revelatory utterance disclosed to a prophet, overriding human counsel. Must not be softened to ‘a thought/idea came to Nathan’; this is objective divine disclosure, comparable to the baseline caution against दर्शन/साक्षात्कार framings of revelation.
Thus Says The Lord
Approved rendering: यहोवा यों कहता है
Transliteration: Yahovā yoṅ kahatā hai
Doctrine: Prophetic Revelation and the Word of God
Original: כֹּה־אָמַר יְהוָה
Category: Revelation
1 Chronicles 17:4 and recurring throughout the book’s prophetic material (כֹּה־אָמַר יְהוָה). The fixed prophetic messenger-formula introducing direct, verbatim divine speech. Must be rendered identically at every occurrence to preserve the formula’s recognizability, distinct from Nathan’s own prior counsel in the same chapter (v.2).
Servant Of The Lord
Approved rendering: सेवक
Transliteration: sevaka
Doctrine: The Davidic Covenant Reaffirmed
Rejected alternatives: दास (reserved for the bondage/slavery register per the Galatians baseline)
Original: עֶבֶד
Category: Covenant
1 Chronicles 17:4,7 (‘my servant David,’ עֶבֶד). A covenant title of loyal submission, used elsewhere of Moses and, messianically, of Christ. Keep सेवक, never दास, which the Galatians-era baseline package reserves for दासत्व/bondage contexts; सेवक preserves the honorific covenant-servant register.
Establish Kun Root
Approved rendering: स्थिर करना / स्थापित करना (वाचा-अर्थ); तैयार करना (तैयारी-अर्थ)
Transliteration: sthira karanā / sthāpita karanā (vācā-artha); taiyār karanā (taiyārī-artha)
Doctrine: The Davidic Covenant Reaffirmed
Original: כּוּן / הֵכִין / הֵעֱמִיד
Category: Covenant
1 Chronicles 17:11,12,14 (establish, covenant sense); 22; 28 (prepare, material sense) — one Hebrew root, כּוּן/הֵכִין/הֵעֱמִיד. Recommend स्थिर करना/स्थापित करना for the covenant ‘establish forever’ sense in ch.17, and तैयार करना for the material-preparation sense in chs. 22 and 28. Hindi cannot preserve one identical surface verb across both senses; a cross-referencing translator note is required so the shared root’s theological connection (dynasty-building and temple-building as one divine-human enterprise) is not lost.
Forever Olam
Approved rendering: सदा के लिये / अनन्तकाल तक
Transliteration: sadā ke liye / anantakāla taka
Doctrine: The Davidic Covenant Reaffirmed
Original: עַד־עוֹלָם
Category: Covenant
1 Chronicles 17:12,14 (עַד־עוֹלָם). Unending futurity, explicitly eternal in force in the Davidic promise, confirmed by later NT messianic reading. Must communicate true unending eternity, not merely ‘a very long time,’ and must not be assimilated to a cyclical/renewable-epoch (yuga) framing common in Hindu cosmology.
Kingdom Malkut
Approved rendering: राज्य
Transliteration: rājya
Doctrine: The Davidic Covenant Reaffirmed
Original: מַלְכוּת
Category: Kingship
1 Chronicles 17:11,14; 29:23 (‘the throne of the LORD’), מַלְכוּת (malkut). Both the concrete Davidic/Solomonic dynasty and, by extension, God’s own sovereign rule exercised through it. Same noun as the baseline kingdom_of_god entry (परमेश्वर का राज्य). A translator note is required distinguishing ‘David’s/Solomon’s राज्य’ (the historical dynasty) from the fuller NT sense, while showing their theological continuity.
Offspring Seed
Approved rendering: वंश
Transliteration: vaṃśa
Doctrine: The Davidic Covenant Reaffirmed
Original: זֶרַע
Category: Covenant
1 Chronicles 17:11 (זֶרַע, zera). Biological descendant(s); grammatically singular in Hebrew, allowing both an immediate referent (Solomon) and a messianic extension — the fountainhead of the NT ‘seed of David’ line (see the inherited seed_of_david entry). Reuses the noun already established in the baseline; flag for combined theologian/native-speaker review given the same singular/plural sensitivity documented for Galatians 3:16’s seed_of_abraham — Hindi वंश reads naturally as collective, potentially obscuring the singular referent grounding the promise’s ultimate fulfillment.
Tabernacle Mishkan
Approved rendering: निवासस्थान
Transliteration: nivāsasthāna
Doctrine: The Temple as God’s Own Dwelling, Prepared by David
Rejected alternatives: मन्दिर (at this narrative stage)
Original: מִשְׁכָּן
Category: Worship
1 Chronicles 17:5 (מִשְׁכָּן). The tent-sanctuary as God’s mobile dwelling among his people, emphasizing God’s choice of mobility over a fixed shrine prior to the temple. Must not be rendered with मन्दिर at this stage, since the point is precisely that God had not yet dwelt in a fixed temple.
Service Ministry Avodah
Approved rendering: सेवा
Transliteration: sevā
Doctrine: Priestly and Levitical Service Order
Original: עֲבוֹדָה
Category: Worship
1 Chronicles 23-26 (עֲבוֹדָה). The technical term for tabernacle/temple ministry, organized as structured, assigned labor rather than spontaneous improvisation. सेवा is also a major Hindu devotional concept (bhakti seva, open to any devotee); a clarifying note is required specifying this सेवा is a divinely rostered, Levite-specific liturgical office under YHWH’s own commanded order.
Sanctify Consecrate
Approved rendering: अपने आप को पवित्र करना
Transliteration: apane āpa ko pavitra karanā
Doctrine: The Ark and God’s Sacred Presence
Original: הִתְקַדֵּשׁ
Category: Worship
1 Chronicles 15:12,14 (הִתְקַדֵּשׁ). To make oneself holy/set apart in preparation for handling the ark. TM-consistent with the baseline holy/sanctification doctrine; must retain moral-relational set-apartness, not mere ritual purity.
According To The Rule
Approved rendering: नियम के अनुसार / विधि के अनुसार
Transliteration: niyama ke anusāra / vidhi ke anusāra
Doctrine: The Ark and God’s Sacred Presence
Original: כַּמִּשְׁפָּט
Category: Worship
1 Chronicles 15:13,15 (כַּמִּשְׁפָּט). Correct, divinely prescribed procedure for handling the ark, contrasted with the improvised handling that brought death in ch. 13. Must not be flattened to a vague ‘properly’; the contrast with ch. 13’s disaster is the load-bearing point.
Burnt Offering Olah
Approved rendering: होमबलि
Transliteration: homabali
Doctrine: Sacrificial Worship at the Altar
Original: עוֹלָה
Category: Worship
1 Chronicles 21:26 (עוֹלָה). A wholly consumed sacrifice symbolizing complete devotion/atonement, the first sacrifice offered on the future temple site. होम/हवन is a major, live Hindu fire-ritual (havan), repeatable and multi-deity. Mandatory translator note required distinguishing होमबलि — a wholly consumed offering to the one true God within his own prescribed sacrificial system, pointing forward to Christ’s once-for-all sacrifice — from Hindu havan’s repeatable, boon-oriented ritual logic.
Altar Mizbeach
Approved rendering: वेदी
Transliteration: vedī
Doctrine: Sacrificial Worship at the Altar
Original: מִזְבֵּח
Category: Worship
1 Chronicles 21:18-26; 22:1 (מִזְבֵּח). The place of sacrifice David builds on Ornan’s threshing floor, becoming the designated future temple site. वेदी is also the standard Hindi term for a Hindu ritual platform used in havan, yajna, and life-cycle ceremonies. A translator note is required clarifying that this वेदी is dedicated exclusively to YHWH, not a general-purpose ritual platform.
Angel Of The Lord
Approved rendering: यहोवा का स्वर्गदूत
Transliteration: Yahovā kā svargaduta
Doctrine: Sin and Divine Judgment
Original: מַלְאַךְ יְהוָה
Category: God
1 Chronicles 21:15-27 (מַלְאַךְ יְהוָה). God’s personal, visible agent of judgment and deliverance at the threshing floor of Ornan. स्वर्गदूत is the established Hindi Christian term for a heavenly angelic messenger; must not be confused with देवदूत/देवता-adjacent minor-deity messenger figures in Hindu cosmology — this is God’s own personal agent, with no independent will or power.
Everything From Your Hand
Approved rendering: यह सब तेरे ही हाथ से मिला है
Transliteration: yaha saba tere hī hātha se milā hai
Doctrine: Stewardship and Freewill Giving for God’s House
Original: מִיָּדְךָ
Category: Stewardship
1 Chronicles 29:14,16 (מִיָּדְךָ). David’s confession that the people’s freewill offerings for the temple ultimately originate in God’s own prior giving. Undercuts any human-merit reading of the freewill offerings; resonant with, though not identical to, the baseline grace doctrine (अनुग्रह). Preserve as a full clause, not compressed.
Doxological Cluster
Approved rendering: महानता, सामर्थ्य, महिमा, विजय, वैभव
Transliteration: mahānatā, sāmarthya, mahimā, vijaya, vaibhava
Doctrine: Stewardship and Freewill Giving for God’s House
Original: גְּדֻלָּה, גְּבוּרָה, כָּבוֹד, נֵצַח, הוֹד
Category: Worship
1 Chronicles 29:11 (גְּדֻלָּה, גְּבוּרָה, כָּבוֹד, נֵצַח, הוֹד). The cluster of divine attributes — greatness, power, glory, victory, majesty — praised in David’s closing prayer. Individually Medium risk; as a cluster High, because the hymnic register invites drift toward Hindu stotra-praise vocabulary for a deity’s cosmic attributes. Ensure सामर्थ्य (never शक्ति) is retained for divine might even in this hymnic context.
Unfaithfulness Maal
Approved rendering: विश्वासघात करना
Transliteration: viśvāsghāta karanā
Doctrine: Sin and Divine Judgment
Original: מָעַל
Category: Sin
1 Chronicles 5:25; 10:13 (מָעַל). Covenant betrayal, specifically idolatry leading to exile of the Transjordan tribes and Saul’s downfall. Must be distinguished from ordinary सांसारिक अपराध (worldly crime); this names covenant-breaking against a personal God, not generic wrongdoing or impersonal karmic consequence.
Medium Necromancer Ov
Approved rendering: भूत-प्रेत का माध्यम / तांत्रिक-सिद्धि माँगनेवाला
Transliteration: bhūta-preta kā mādhyama / tāntrika-siddhi māṅganevālā
Doctrine: Occult Practice as Covenant Unfaithfulness
Original: אוֹב
Category: Sin
1 Chronicles 10:13-14 (אוֹב). Occult consultation of the dead, explicitly forbidden by Torah; Saul’s downfall is directly tied to seeking illegitimate spiritual power instead of trusting God. Live pastoral concern given widespread spirit-consultation and tantric/occult practice in the Indian context. Mandatory native-speaker/theologian review with a pastoral note; must neither sensationalize nor normalize the practice.
The Spirit In Revelation
Approved rendering: आत्मा
Transliteration: ātmā
Doctrine: Prophetic Revelation and the Word of God
Original: רוּחַ
Category: Temple
1 Chronicles 28:12 (רוּחַ, ‘the plan of all that he had in mind by the Spirit’). The means by which David received the temple’s plan. आत्मा alone is ambiguous in Hindi (also ‘soul/self’); ensure surrounding text or a note ties this specifically to पवित्र आत्मा (God’s own Spirit), not David’s personal insight or an impersonal inner faculty.
House Of The Lord
Approved rendering: यहोवा का भवन
Transliteration: Yahovā kā bhavana
Doctrine: The Temple as God’s Own Dwelling, Prepared by David
Rejected alternatives: मन्दिर (default avoided; contextual use only with clarifying material)
Original: בֵּית יְהוָה
Category: Temple
1 Chronicles 22 and following (בֵּית יְהוָה). The fixed ‘temple’ sense of bayit, resolved from the ch. 17 house/dynasty wordplay, as the object of David’s preparation. Many Hindi Christian traditions avoid मन्दिर for the true God’s house due to its overwhelming association with Hindu temples; भवन is the safer default, with मन्दिर reserved only where context is unmistakable and accompanied by distinguishing material.
Medium Risk Terms
Mercy
Approved rendering: दया
Transliteration: dayā
Doctrine: Character of God
Original: רַחֲמִים / חָנַן (contextual mercy vocabulary distinct from chesed)
Category: God
Kept distinct from अनुग्रह (grace, unmerited favor). दया = compassion toward the miserable. Inherited from Romans package. Kept distinct from करुणा, which this curriculum reserves specifically for chesed (covenant-bound loyal love); दया denotes ordinary compassion elsewhere in the book.
Kingdom Of God
Approved rendering: परमेश्वर का राज्य
Transliteration: Parameśvara kā rājya
Doctrine: Israelite Kingship as an Instrument of God’s Own Sovereignty
Rejected alternatives: ईश्वर का राष्ट्र
Original: מַלְכוּת יהוה (implicit; cf. 1 Chronicles 29:23 ‘the throne of the LORD’)
Category: Kingship
God’s sovereign reign. Distinguish from political kingdom concepts. Inherited from Romans package. A mandatory note is required wherever this term intersects the new kingdom_malkut entry (राज्य, David’s/Solomon’s historical dynasty): 1 Chronicles 29:23 explicitly identifies Solomon’s throne as ‘the throne of the LORD,’ showing continuity between the historical Davidic kingdom and this fuller doctrine without collapsing the two.
David
Approved rendering: दाऊद
Transliteration: Dāūda
Doctrine: The Davidic Covenant Reaffirmed
Original: דָּוִיד
Category: Covenant
BSI OV proper name form. Inherited from Romans package. Central figure of 1 Chronicles 11-29 and recipient of the covenant promise reaffirmed at 17:1-15.
Israel
Approved rendering: इस्राएल
Transliteration: Isrāela
Doctrine: Genealogy and the Continuity of God’s People
Original: יִשְׂרָאֵל
Category: Covenant
Proper name; BSI established form. Inherited from Romans package. Subject of the genealogies (1 Chronicles 1-9) and of God’s covenant faithfulness throughout the book.
Throne Kisse
Approved rendering: सिंहासन
Transliteration: siṃhāsana
Doctrine: Israelite Kingship as an Instrument of God’s Own Sovereignty
Original: כִּסֵּא
Category: Kingship
1 Chronicles 17:12,14; 29:23 (כִּסֵּא). The physical seat of royal authority, metonym for the reign/dynasty itself; promised to David’s line forever. Standard established term; सिंहासन is also used generically of any royal or divine throne in Hindu literature — context must keep this as God’s own covenant guarantee, not merely honorific court language.
Prince Nagid
Approved rendering: प्रधान / अधिपति
Transliteration: pradhāna / adhipati
Doctrine: Israelite Kingship as an Instrument of God’s Own Sovereignty
Original: נָגִיד
Category: Kingship
1 Chronicles 17:7 (נָגִיד). A divinely designated ruler-title, distinct from מֶלֶךְ (melek, ‘king,’ an inherited/dynastic title); emphasizes David’s rule as God’s appointment. Must be kept distinct from राजा so the nuance of divine designation over dynastic inheritance is not lost.
King Melek
Approved rendering: राजा
Transliteration: rājā
Doctrine: Israelite Kingship as an Instrument of God’s Own Sovereignty
Original: מֶלֶךְ
Category: Kingship
1 Chronicles 17:7 and throughout; 29:23 (מֶלֶךְ). The standard royal title; in Israel kingship is meant to be exercised under and answerable to God. Standard established term; flagged because राजा carries strong associations with Hindu/Indian dynastic and devotional kingship (e.g., राजा as an epithet in bhakti literature) — context must keep Israel’s kingship accountable to a covenant God, never a divinely self-sufficient sovereign (devaraja/avatar collision).
Shepherd Verb
Approved rendering: चराना
Transliteration: charānā
Doctrine: The Davidic Covenant Reaffirmed
Original: רָעָה
Category: Kingship
1 Chronicles 17:6 (רָעָה). To tend a flock, applied metaphorically to national leadership as God-given, sacrificial care. Keep the pastoral, caretaking sense; avoid a term implying mere political rule.
Judges Of Israel
Approved rendering: न्यायी / अगुवे
Transliteration: nyāyī / aguve
Doctrine: The Davidic Covenant Reaffirmed
Original: שֹׁפְטֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל
Category: Kingship
1 Chronicles 17:6 (שֹׁפְטֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל). The charismatic tribal deliverer-leaders of the pre-monarchic period; God never demanded a temple from them, showing the temple is God’s own initiative. Context must clarify these are divinely raised deliverer-leaders, not ordinary law-court judges, which न्यायी alone might suggest.
Cut Off Karat
Approved rendering: मिटा देना / नाश करना
Transliteration: miṭā denā / nāśa karanā
Doctrine: The Davidic Covenant Reaffirmed
Original: כָּרַת
Category: Covenant
1 Chronicles 17:8 (כָּרַת). Decisive destruction/removal of David’s enemies by God’s own action, unearned by David’s own strength.
Name Shem
Approved rendering: नाम
Transliteration: nāma
Doctrine: The Davidic Covenant Reaffirmed
Original: שֵׁם
Category: Covenant
1 Chronicles 17:8 (שֵׁם). Reputation, legacy, honor, identity; God himself secures David’s lasting honor, contrasted with David’s own plan to build a ‘name’ for God via the temple. Ensure ‘name’ here carries enduring honor/legacy, not merely a personal label.
Plant Settle Nata
Approved rendering: एक स्थान ठहराना / रोपना
Transliteration: eka sthāna ṭhaharānā / ropanā
Doctrine: The Davidic Covenant Reaffirmed
Original: נָטַע / שִׂים מָקוֹם
Category: Covenant
1 Chronicles 17:9 (נָטַע / שִׂים מָקוֹם). God’s covenant promise of secure, settled land, an agricultural rootedness metaphor. Guard against any drift toward a merit-fruit reading, paralleling the baseline’s फल/कर्म-फल caution documented for Galatians; this planting is God’s gift of settled belonging, not a harvest of accumulated merit.
Tent Ohel
Approved rendering: तम्बू
Transliteration: tambū
Doctrine: The Temple as God’s Own Dwelling, Prepared by David
Original: אֹהֶל
Category: Worship
1 Chronicles 17:5 (אֹהֶל). The nomadic dwelling used of the tabernacle. TM-consistent with tabernacle_mishkan; keep concrete and tied to the tabernacle referent, not a generic curtain/covering term.
Priest Kohen
Approved rendering: याजक
Transliteration: yājaka
Doctrine: Priestly and Levitical Service Order
Rejected alternatives: पुजारी (Hindu temple ritual-specialist performing puja to an image)
Original: כֹּהֵן
Category: Worship
1 Chronicles 6 and throughout (כֹּהֵן). An Aaronic, hereditary mediator of Israel’s worship. Must not be rendered पुजारी; याजक keeps the biblical office distinct from Hindu temple priesthood.
Gatekeeper Shoer
Approved rendering: द्वारपाल
Transliteration: dvārapāla
Doctrine: Gatekeeping and Temple Administration
Original: שׁוֹעֵר
Category: Worship
1 Chronicles 9; 26 (שׁוֹעֵר). A Levitical office guarding tabernacle/temple entrances. द्वारपाल is also the standard Hindi/Sanskrit term for guardian-deity icons (dvarapalakas) flanking Hindu temple entrances; a clarifying note is required at first occurrence (ch. 9) that these are living, rostered Levitical personnel with scheduled human duties, not iconographic guardian figures.
Peace Offering Shelamim
Approved rendering: मेलबलि
Transliteration: melabali
Doctrine: Sacrificial Worship at the Altar
Original: שְׁלָמִים
Category: Worship
1 Chronicles 21:26 (שְׁלָמִים). An offering celebrating/securing covenant wellbeing. Relates to but is distinct from the baseline शांति (relational peace with God); this is a ritual act, not a psychological state.
Genealogy Lineage
Approved rendering: वंशावली
Transliteration: vaṃśāvalī
Doctrine: Genealogy and the Continuity of God’s People
Original: הִתְיַחֵשׂ / תּוֹלְדוֹת
Category: Genealogy
1 Chronicles 1-9 (הִתְיַחֵשׂ / תּוֹלְדוֹת). The technical term for compiling a genealogical record; genealogies in Chronicles theologically argue that God preserved a continuous covenant people through every historical disruption, including exile. वंशावली is the natural and safe Hindi term; a brief framing note distinguishing covenant-continuity from caste/gotra status logic is required at the first genealogical list (ch. 1).
Firstborn Bekhor
Approved rendering: पहलौठा
Transliteration: pahalauṭhā
Doctrine: Genealogy and the Continuity of God’s People
Original: בְּכוֹר
Category: Genealogy
1 Chronicles 2:3 and elsewhere (בְּכוֹר). The son with primary inheritance rights and family headship; God repeatedly overrides simple birth-order (e.g., David himself the youngest). Note the inheritance-rights connotation so readers grasp why the text keeps naming firstborns even when a younger son is chosen instead — ties to the election entry.
Exile Captivity
Approved rendering: बँधुआई
Transliteration: bandhuā’ī
Doctrine: God’s Faithfulness across Generations
Original: גָּלָה / גּוֹלָה
Category: Genealogy
1 Chronicles 5:25-26; 9:1 (גָּלָה / גּוֹלָה). Exile/the exiled community; the historical low point that genealogy nonetheless bridges, demonstrating God’s faithfulness across generations. Ensure the theological point (covenant continuity surviving national judgment) is not lost in a purely historical-descriptive reading; must not be read through a cyclical yuga/rebirth cosmology.
Census Count Safar
Approved rendering: गिनती करना
Transliteration: ginatī karanā
Doctrine: Sin and Divine Judgment
Original: סָפַר
Category: Sin
1 Chronicles 21:1-6 (סָפַר). Numbering the people; becomes an act of self-reliant national pride rather than trust in God, triggering judgment. Context must carry the theological weight, since counting itself is morally neutral elsewhere in the book’s administrative rosters (chs. 23-27).
Rest Menuchah
Approved rendering: विश्राम
Transliteration: viśrāma
Doctrine: The Temple as God’s Own Dwelling, Prepared by David
Original: מְנוּחָה
Category: Temple
1 Chronicles 22:9 (מְנוּחָה). A settled, secure, war-free condition granted by God as the necessary precondition for temple-building, Solomon’s characterization as ‘a man of rest.’ Keep distinct from शांति (relational, salvific peace with God); here it is a historical condition of freedom from war.
Tribute Gift Minchah
Approved rendering: भेंट / कर
Transliteration: bheṇṭa / kara
Doctrine: The Temple as God’s Own Dwelling, Prepared by David
Original: מִנְחָה
Category: Temple
1 Chronicles 18:2,6,11 (מִנְחָה, political sense). A political tribute-gift from subdued nations, contributing to temple resources. Context (political tribute, not cultic offering) should be clear in surrounding prose.
Dedicate Hiqdish
Approved rendering: अर्पित करना / पवित्र करने के लिये अलग करना
Transliteration: arpita karanā / pavitra karane ke liye alaga karanā
Doctrine: Sacrificial Worship at the Altar
Original: הִקְדִּישׁ
Category: Worship
1 Chronicles 18:11 (הִקְדִּישׁ). David’s act of consecrating the spoils of war to the LORD rather than personal enrichment. Reuses the holy root; keep the sense of setting apart as holy for God’s own use, extending worship beyond the sanctuary.
Divisions Machlekot
Approved rendering: दल / विभाग
Transliteration: dala / vibhāga
Doctrine: Priestly and Levitical Service Order
Original: מַחְלְקוֹת
Category: Worship
1 Chronicles 23-26 (מַחְלְקוֹת). The organized, rostered structure of Levitical service. Standard administrative term; keep the sense of an ordered roster, not an ad hoc grouping.
Lot Casting Goral
Approved rendering: चिट्ठी डालना / पर्ची द्वारा
Transliteration: ciṭṭhī ḍālanā / parcī dvārā
Doctrine: Priestly and Levitical Service Order
Original: גּוֹרָל
Category: Worship
1 Chronicles 24:5,31 (גּוֹרָל). A divinely-trusted method for impartially assigning priestly service order. Distinguish from भाग्य/किस्मत (fate), already forbidden by the baseline election/providence entries; this is a God-trusted procedural mechanism for scheduling, not fate-discovery or divination.
Prophesy Musically
Approved rendering: भविष्यद्वाणी करना
Transliteration: bhaviṣyadvāṇī karanā
Doctrine: Corporate Worship and Music Ministry
Original: נִבָּא
Category: Worship
1 Chronicles 25:1-3 (נִבָּא). Musicians’ Spirit-inspired worship-leading with instruments, linked to but distinct from verbal prophecy. A brief note may clarify this is musical, Spirit-led worship ministry, not verbal oracular prediction, avoiding confusion with the inherited प्रophecy sense.
Freewill Offering Nedavah
Approved rendering: स्वेच्छाबलि / स्वेच्छा से भेंट
Transliteration: svecchābali / svecchā se bheṇṭa
Doctrine: Stewardship and Freewill Giving for God’s House
Original: נְדָבָה
Category: Stewardship
1 Chronicles 29:5-9,14 (נְדָבָה). A voluntary gift given beyond any required obligation, purely out of devotion, for the temple project. Distinguish from routine ritual daan/offering practice; this is a one-time, project-specific, joyfully voluntary contribution, not an ongoing devotional obligation.
Whole Heart
Approved rendering: सम्पूर्ण हृदय से / पूरे मन से
