Core Glossary
Core Glossary — Hebrews (Hindi Destination Language Package)
This glossary lists every load-bearing theological term identified in 07_semantic_analysis.md, organized by chapter of first/primary occurrence. Terms already established in the baseline Romans/Galatians translation_memory.json are marked [BASELINE REUSE] and MUST be rendered exactly as recorded there; this document does not alter those entries. New terms proposed for this Hebrews curriculum are marked [NEW] and require formal addition to translation_memory.json and bible_term_registry.json before Phase 2 translation, per the baseline’s Translation Memory Load and Enforcement Instructions.
Risk tiers follow doctrine_risk_registry.json definitions: Critical = human theologian review every occurrence; High = human theologian review; Medium = native speaker review recommended; Low = automated review sufficient.

Critical Risk Terms
Righteousness
Approved rendering: धार्मिकता
Transliteration: dhārmikatā
Doctrine: Salvation
Rejected alternatives: धर्म, पुण्य, न्याय
Original: δικαιοσύνη
Category: Salvation
Inherited from Romans package. Underlies ‘king of righteousness’ (Melchizedek, 7:2) and ‘spirits of the righteous made perfect’ (12:23); धर्मी must always derive from this root, never from धर्म standalone.
Salvation
Approved rendering: उद्धार
Transliteration: uddhāra
Doctrine: Salvation
Rejected alternatives: मुक्ति, मोक्ष, छुटकारा
Original: σωτηρία
Category: Salvation

Doctrine: Resurrection of Christ
Rejected alternatives: पुनर्जन्म, पुनर्जीवन
Inherited from Romans package. Extended in Hebrews 11:35 by the comparative ‘better resurrection’ (उत्तम पुनरुत्थान); never पुनर्जन्म.
Lord
Approved rendering: प्रभु
Transliteration: Prabhu
Doctrine: Lordship of Christ
Rejected alternatives: स्वामी, ईश्वर
Original: κύριος
Category: Christology
Inherited from Romans package. Applied to Christ in Hebrews’ OT citations (e.g., 1:10, Psalm 102) asserting his full deity.
Son Of God
Approved rendering: परमेश्वर का पुत्र
Transliteration: Parameśvara kā putra
Doctrine: Sonship of Christ
Rejected alternatives: ईश्वर का अंश, देव-पुरुष
Original: υἱὸς θεοῦ
Category: Christology
Inherited from Romans package. Hebrews 1’s ‘today I have begotten you’ (Psalm 2:7 citation) must not be read as marking a temporal beginning of the Son’s existence; full-phrase, non-metaphorical, eternal Sonship required in every occurrence.
Incarnation
Approved rendering: देहधारण
Transliteration: dehadhāraṇa
Doctrine: Incarnation
Rejected alternatives: अवतार, देह प्रकटीकरण
Inherited from Romans package. Background doctrine for Hebrews 2:14-18 (Christ’s real flesh and blood) and 10:5’s ‘body prepared’ citation of Psalm 40; never अवतार.

Inherited from Romans package. Hebrews 9:14’s ‘eternal Spirit’ (अनन्त आत्मा, referring to पवित्र आत्मा) and 4:12’s anthropological soul/spirit distinction both require this term to remain unambiguously the personal, divine third Person, never confused with the human जीव/आत्मा of 4:12 or an impersonal universal Self.
Father
Approved rendering: पिता
Transliteration: Pitā
Doctrine: Adoption into God’s Family
Rejected alternatives: ब्रह्मा, सृष्टिकर्ता
Inherited from Romans package. Central grammatical subject/agent of the fatherly-discipline passage (Hebrews 12:5-11); must never be omitted from that passage’s clauses.

Rejected alternatives: तुष्टीकरण
Original: ἱλάσκομαι
Category: Atonement
Inherited from Romans package. Extended in Hebrews 2:17 (‘to make propitiation for the sins of the people’) with the added nuance that the same high priest who provides it has personally experienced human temptation; theologian review must confirm this experiential-solidarity dimension is not lost in a purely juridical rendering.
Conscience
Approved rendering: विवेक
Transliteration: viveka
Doctrine: Conscience
Rejected alternatives: अंतरात्मा
Original: συνείδησις
Category: Atonement
Inherited from Romans package. Elevated to Critical for this curriculum: Hebrews 9:14 makes conscience-cleansing the distinctive New Covenant benefit reached by Christ’s blood, contrasted with the merely ceremonial cleansing of 9:13; context must keep this the moral-conscience sense, never Vedantic विवेक (discriminative wisdom/self-realization).
Mediator
Approved rendering: मध्यस्थ
Transliteration: madhyastha
Doctrine: Covenant
Original: μεσίτης
Category: Covenant
Inherited from Romans package (via Galatians). Christ’s mediatorial role of the new covenant (Hebrews 8:6; 9:15; 12:24) surpasses Moses’ mediation of the law at Sinai (implied contrast, ch.3).

Rest
Approved rendering: विश्राम
Transliteration: viśrāma
Doctrine: God’s Rest
Rejected alternatives: मोक्ष, निर्वाण
Original: κατάπαυσις
Category: Eschatology
Hebrews 3:11,18; 4:1,3-11. The single highest moksha/nirvana-adjacent term in the book. Approved rendering: मलिकिसिदक की रीति
Transliteration: Malikisidak kī rīti
