Doctrine Analysis

11 Doctrine Analysis — Gospel of John → Manipuri

This document is the full doctrine matrix for the John curriculum, produced under PRD Phase 1 Step 4. It is generated to be fully consistent with assets/doctrine_risk_registry.json: the same 40 doctrines, the same risk tiers, and the same review routing are used throughout. No doctrine, tier, or routing decision in this document contradicts the registry. This matrix extends the registry’s per-doctrine view with an explicit chapter-by-chapter coverage log across all 21 chapters of John, per the full-book coverage mandate — the core passage (John 3:1-21, the Nicodemus discourse) is this curriculum’s theological anchor, not its scope boundary.

Risk-tier definitions and review routing categories follow the baseline Romans Language Package exactly:

Manipuri’s comparative-religion landscape continues to be engaged as a live dual system — Sanamahism (Sanamahi, Pakhangba, the Umang Lai forest deities, Lai Haraoba, the maibi trance-priestess) and Gaudiya Vaishnavism (Krishna-Radha devotion, the UNESCO-recognized Ras Lila) — never as a historical sequence with one winner. John’s own vocabulary of the Son’s heavenly descent, “lifting up,” and the seven declarative “I Am” statements introduces a collision-risk cluster (avatāra theology; the positively venerated ancestral serpent-deity Pakhangba) weighted more heavily here than in the Romans baseline.

Part A — Master Doctrine Matrix

#DoctrineManipuri Doctrine NameSupporting Passages (John)RiskTranslation RiskReview Routing
1Deity of Christক্রিস্তোগী তেংবাং মপু ওইবা1:1; 1:18; 5:18; 8:58; 10:30,33; 20:28CriticalFull, co-equal divinity must never soften into “a great avatar” or a favored Umang Lai spirit; 20:28’s “My Lord and my God” is the climactic anchor and must render তেংবাং মপু unqualified, never ঠাকুর.Human theologian
2Pre-existence of Christক্রিস্তো তসেংনা লৈরম্বগী ৱাফম1:1-3; 1:15; 8:58; 17:5,24CriticalJohn’s ἦν/ἐγένετο (“was” vs. “came into being”) distinction cannot be unambiguously carried by Manipuri tense-aspect marking; requires mandatory translator’s note; must not read as a temporally bounded divine favor as in avatāra accounts.Human theologian
3Incarnationমীওইগী মহৈ লৌবা1:14; 1:18CriticalNEVER অবতার. Ras Lila’s prestigious, actively performed avatar-devotion tradition makes this the single highest-salience wrong word; must teach a permanent, unique assumption of human nature, once.Human theologian
4Sonship of Christক্রিস্তোগী মচানুপা ওইবা, অমা খক্তা ওইবা1:14,18,34,49; 3:16,18; 5:25; 10:36; 11:27; 20:31CriticalEternal, unique, unshared Sonship — the μονογενής qualifier (অমা খক্তা ওইবা) must always accompany the title to rule out a “one among several avatars” reading.Human theologian
5Son of Man as Messianic Self-Designationমীওইগী মচানুপা ওইবগী মিং1:51; 3:13-14; 5:27; 6:27,53,62; 9:35; 12:23,34; 13:31HighPairs full humanity with divine authority (Daniel 7 background); risks flattening into “merely a man” or, given attached heaven-descent language, an avatar-style divine visitor.Human theologian
6The Son’s Descent from Heavenস্বর্গদগী কুম্থরকপগী ৱাফম3:13,31; 6:33,38,41-42,50-51,58CriticalThe single sharpest collision risk in John: Sanskrit avatāra literally means “descent.” Must be taught as one unique, permanent descent, never a repeatable avatāra pattern; treat as a connected teaching unit with the I Am statements and “lifted up” language.Human theologian
7The New Birth and Regeneration by the Spiritঅনৌবা পোকপা অমসুং থাওয়াই অসেংবাগী থৌদাং1:12-13; 3:3-8CriticalNEVER পুনর্জন্ম. The ἄνωθεν (“again”/“from above”) double sense is largely lost in Manipuri and needs an explicit translator’s note; Nicodemus’s own confusion (3:4) is a built-in teaching hook.Human theologian
8Flesh and Spirit Contrastহাক্চাং অমসুং থাওয়াইগী য়াননবা3:6-8; 6:63HighNatural birth produces only natural life; the Greek pneuma wind/Spirit wordplay (3:8) is largely untranslatable across Manipuri’s two distinct words; bare থাওয়াই must never substitute for the personal Spirit without অসেংবা.Human theologian
9The Holy Spirit as Counselorথাওয়াই অসেংবা পাংজিনবিরকপা ওইবা14:16,26; 15:26; 16:7CriticalAnchor doctrine for this curriculum’s named theme. Must always retain অসেংবা so this personal Helper is never assimilated to a maibi’s mediumistic channeling role or an ancestral household spirit (Apokpa).Human theologian
10The Spirit’s Guidance into All Truthথাওয়াই অসেংবানা অচুম্বাদা চৈরকপগী থৌদাং14:17; 15:26; 16:8,13CriticalThe Spirit’s convicting/truth-guiding work must be distinguished from a maibi’s oracular trance-utterance and from customary community shaming/correction processes.Human theologian
11Eternal Life through Faith in Christথাজবা তৌবগী মখলদা ফংবা অতৈ লৈতবা হিংবা3:15-16,36; 4:14,36; 5:24,39; 6:27,40,47,54,68; 10:28; 17:2-3; 20:31CriticalNEVER মোক্ষ or a devotee’s hoped-for union with Krishna in Vaikuntha/Goloka. John 17:3 grounds eternal life as relational knowledge of God through the Son, not a liberative/absorptive state.Human theologian
12God’s Love for the Worldমালেমবু তেংবাং মপুনা নুংশিবগী ৱাফম3:16-17; 13:1,34-35; 15:9-13; 17:23-26CriticalRas Lila’s Krishna-Radha romantic-mystical prema is a prestigious, currently performed devotional practice; agape’s self-giving initiative toward the unworthy must be taught explicitly against it — the book’s single most important comparative love-language risk.Human theologian
13The World’s Dual Sense: Loved Object and Hostile Systemমালেমগী মখল অনি3:16-17; 8:23; 12:31; 15:18-19; 16:33; 17:14-16Highκόσμος ranges from humanity-as-loved-object (3:16) to the fallen world-system (15:18-19); মালেম risks narrowing to a specific cosmological plane rather than humanity in its fallen totality — check sense per occurrence.Human theologian
14Judgment and Belief/Unbeliefথাজবা অমসুং থাজদবগী ৱায়েল3:17-19,36; 5:22,24,27,29-30; 8:15-16,26; 9:39; 12:31,47-48; 16:8,11Highৱায়েল (ordinary judicial-verdict word, including customary clan-council/yumnak verdicts) must be marked as God’s own righteous verdict, distinct from human customary law and from a maibi’s oracular divinatory verdict.Human theologian
15Light and Darknessমমাং অমসুং অমম্বগী ৱাফম1:4-9; 3:19-21; 8:12; 9:5; 12:35-36,46CriticalSanamahi cosmology’s Atiya Guru Sidaba (primordial formless light) and Ras Lila staging’s deliberate evocation of Krishna’s radiance both collide with “light of the world”; treat with the same seriousness as the baseline’s glory caution.Human theologian
16The Wrath of God against Unbeliefথাজদবগী মথক্তা তেংবাং মপুগী অসাউবা3:36CriticalMust be sharply distinguished from a capricious Umang Lai deity’s ritual-neglect anger (addressed by Lai Haraoba propitiatory offerings) and Vaishnava prāyaścitta appeasement; God’s wrath resolves only through faith, never ritual appeasement.Human theologian
17The Chain of Testimony to Christক্রিস্তোগী মথক্তা সাক্ষী পীবগী ৱাফম1:7-8,15,19-34; 3:11,26-33; 5:31-39; 8:13-18; 15:26-27; 19:35; 21:24HighJohn the Baptist, the Father, Scripture, works, the Spirit, and the disciples build a sober, verifiable, legal-style case for Christ’s identity — sharply distinct from a maibi’s trance-mediated oracular testimony.Human theologian
18Truth as Ultimate Reality Revealed in Christক্রিস্তোদা ফোংদোকপা অচুম্বগী ৱাফম1:14,17; 8:32,44; 14:6,17; 16:13; 17:17,19; 18:37-38Highঅচুম্বা preferred over the Sanskrit/Bengali loan সত্য, to maintain root-consistency with baseline righteousness and avoid competing with সত্য’s bhakti-devotional-attribute resonance.Human theologian
19The Seven “I Am” Statementsঐ অসি হায়বগী ৱারোল তরেৎ6:35,48; 8:12; 10:7,9,11,14; 11:25; 14:6; 15:1,5CriticalEach metaphor needs its own cultural-background teaching (manna typology, light collisions, OT vineyard imagery); teach as one connected unit with the absolute I Am claim and the descent-from-heaven cluster, since several overlap directly with avatāra-collision risk.Human theologian
20The Absolute “I Am” as the Divine Nameঐহাক ঐ অসি হায়বগী তেংবাং মপুগী মিং8:24,28,58; 13:19; 18:5-6,8CriticalEchoes Exodus 3:14 LXX; Manipuri has no exact grammatical equivalent to the Greek’s emphatic absolute construction — mandatory translator’s note required at every occurrence, or it may read as ordinary self-identification rather than a deity claim.Human theologian
21Christ as the Sufficient Bread of Lifeহিংবগী রুটি ওইবা ক্রিস্তো6:35,48,51MediumRice, not bread, is the Manipuri staple; loanword রুটি preserves the wilderness-manna/Passover typology rather than substituting rice, which would lose the typological link.Native speaker review
22Christ as the Good Shepherd Who Lays Down His Lifeয়াও চৌথোকপা ফবগী থৌদাং10:11,14-15,17-18HighPastoral/herding imagery is culturally distant from Manipur’s rice-agrarian valley economy and needs explanatory background so voluntary substitutionary self-sacrifice is not lost to unfamiliarity with the shepherd role.Human theologian
23Christ as the Sacrificial Lamb of Godতেংবাং মপুগী য়াওবী ওইবা ক্রিস্তো1:29,36; 19:36HighSheep/lamb are not a major traditional Meitei sacrificial animal (Sanamahi sacrifice more typically uses fowl, pig, or buffalo; Vaishnavism’s ahimsa rejects animal sacrifice outright) — requires explicit OT Passover/Levitical background since neither living tradition offers a ready bridge.Human theologian
24The Bronze Serpent Typologyলিং থাংজিনখিবগী ৱারোল3:14CriticalA distinctively Manipuri risk: Pakhangba, the ancestral serpent-deity (elder brother of Sanamahi, marker of historic royal lineage), is positively venerated. Numbers 21’s bronze serpent is the opposite image — judgment remedied only by looking to what God provided. Requires explicit OT background to prevent an honorific Pakhangba-style reading.Human theologian
25Christ’s Substitutionary Deathক্রিস্তোনা মখোয়গী মহুৎতা হিংবা পীথোকখিবগী থৌদাং1:29,36; 6:51-56; 10:11,15,17-18; 13:37-38; 15:13; 19:30,36CriticalUnique, historical, once-for-all voluntary act, not a repeatable devotional posture (Vaishnava prapatti self-surrender; maibi trance self-offering). “Flesh and blood” language (6:53-56) additionally risks Vaishnava prasādam assimilation.Human theologian
26The Sufficiency of the Finished Work of the Crossমপুং ফাউরে হায়বগী মপুং ফাবা থৌদাং19:30CriticalCompleted, sufficient, once-for-all atonement requiring no supplementation through ongoing bhakti seva or repeated Lai Haraoba propitiatory offerings; directly extends the baseline’s grace/imputed-righteousness cautions to the cross.Human theologian
27Christ’s Resurrectionক্রিস্তোগী সিবদগী হিংজত-লকপা2:19-22; 11:24-25; 20:1-29; 21:1-14CriticalNEVER পুনর্জন্ম. The Lazarus narrative (ch. 11) previews Christ’s own bodily, historical resurrection and must remain sharply distinct from any cyclical-rebirth reading; John 2:19-22’s temple-body prophecy anticipates the same event.Human theologian
28Unity of the Father and the Sonইপা অমসুং মচানুপাগী অমা ওইবগী থৌদাং5:17-26; 10:30; 14:9-11; 17:11,21-22CriticalCo-essential unity-in-distinction, not pantheistic merging/absorption (a risk paralleling bhakti mystical union and any residual Brahman-Atman monism). The Father-Son “sending” relationship (40+ occurrences) must not be read as a subordinate maiba/maibi-style messenger role.Human theologian
29The Father as Functionally Greater in the Son’s Incarnate Missionমীওইগী মহৈ লৌবগী থৌদাংদা ইপা হেন্না চাউবগী ৱাফম14:28CriticalMust be taught alongside 10:30’s essential unity to prevent subordinationist misreading; a functional/mission statement about the incarnate Son’s submitted role, not unequal divine essence.Human theologian
30Believers’ Unity Patterned on the Father-Son Unityথাজবা তৌবা মীওইশিংগী অমা ওইবগী থৌদাং17:11,21-22CriticalRelational/purposive unity patterned after, not identical to, the Father-Son ontological unity of 10:30; must not be read through a mystical-absorption bhakti lens or monistic Brahman-Atman lens.Human theologian
31Worship Rightly Directed to Christক্রিস্তোবু খুরুম্জবগী থৌদাং4:20-24; 9:38; 20:28Highখুরুম্জবা is also the ordinary verb for respectful greeting given to elders, royalty, and deities generically; when directed at Jesus it must be marked as exclusive worship, not customary temple/sacred-grove reverence.Human theologian
32The New Commandment to Love One Anotherঅমাগা অমাগা নুংশিনবগী অনৌবা য়াথাং13:34-35; 15:12-13,17HighThe “as I have loved you” (unto death) standard must be clearly distinguished from Ras Lila’s romantic-devotional Radha-Krishna love paradigm; the mark of discipleship, not a devotional-affective practice.Human theologian
33The Sending Mission from Father to Son to Disciplesইপাদগী মচানুপাদা, মচানুপাদগী তদিশিংদা থাবিরকপগী থৌদাং3:17,34; 5:36-38; 17:18,21,23,25; 20:21HighGiven the entanglement of historical Christian mission work with colonial-era administration and Manipur’s contemporary inter-community sensitivities, frame this as the church’s own Christ-commissioned calling, not a foreign or ethnically-coded project.Human theologian
34Delegated Authority to Declare Forgiveness of Sinsপাপ কোকপগী থৌদাং তদিশিংদা পীবিখিবা20:23HighMust be distinguished from a maibi’s or maiba’s independent ritual absolution act; this is delegated declarative authority under the gospel’s own terms, not independent ritual mediation.Human theologian
35Children of God by the New Birthঅনৌবা পোকপগী মখলদা তেংবাং মপুগী মচা ওইবা1:12-13; 11:52HighOrganic, birth-based family belonging (“not of blood… but of God”), complementing rather than duplicating the baseline’s legal-adoption image; teach both pictures as compatible, not conflated.Human theologian
36Inspiration and Authority of Scriptureঅসেংবা ৱারোলগী মপুং ফাবগী থৌদাং5:39; 10:35; 20:9HighExtends the baseline’s Puya Meithaba-sensitive Inspiration of Scripture doctrine; John 10:35’s “Scripture cannot be broken” should be taught emphasizing God’s providential preservation of his word.Human theologian
37Christ’s Sovereign Choosing of His Ownক্রিস্তোনা মখোয়বু খনখিবগী থৌদাং6:44; 12:32; 15:16,19HighDirectly reuses the baseline election doctrine; must not drift toward ৱাইফম (impersonal fate) nor read as a royal-divine-lineage selection of the Pakhangba-descent type.Human theologian
38Assurance through Christ’s Victory over the Worldক্রিস্তোনা মালেমবু মায়ক ফাংখিবগী থাজবা16:33MediumMust not be heard through a martial-heroic lens resonant with Meitei warrior traditions (e.g. Thang-Ta, associated with Sanamahi ancestor-heroes); the victory is spiritual and already accomplished.Native speaker review
39Christ’s Kingdom Is Not of This Worldক্রিস্তোগী লৈপাক মালেম অসিগী নত্তবগী থৌদাং18:36MediumDistinguishes Christ’s kingship from earthly political kingship, including implicitly the historic Meitei ningthou’s own royal-divine-lineage political framing legitimated through descent from Pakhangba.Native speaker review
40Sanctification through God’s Truthঅচুম্বাগী মখলদা অসেংবা ওইহনবগী থৌদাং17:17,19HighThe Spirit’s/Christ’s ongoing truth-grounded holiness-work is distinct from ritual purification before Lai Haraoba or Vaishnava temple worship, which is periodic and ritual-state-based rather than ongoing.Human theologian

Tier totals (Part A): Critical 21 · High 16 · Medium 3 · Low 0 · Total: 40 doctrines, all requiring either human theologian review (37) or native speaker review (3). No Low-tier / automated-only doctrines are introduced by John; this reflects the Gospel’s unusually high concentration of Christological and pneumatological load-bearing material relative to the Romans baseline.

Part B — Chapter-by-Chapter Coverage Log (John 1–21)

Every chapter of John has been reviewed for doctrinal content. Chapters or verse-ranges contributing no doctrine beyond what is already registered in Part A are explicitly marked “Reviewed — no new doctrine” rather than silently omitted, per the full-book coverage mandate.

John 1 — Prologue, Testimony of the Baptist, First Disciples

Doctrines present: Deity of Christ (1:1,18); Pre-existence of Christ (1:1-3,15); Incarnation (1:14,18); Sonship of Christ (1:14,18,34,49); Son of Man designation (1:51, first occurrence); Truth as Ultimate Reality (1:14,17); Testimony/Witness Chain (1:7-8,15,19-34); Lamb of God Sacrifice (1:29,36); Children of God by New Birth (1:12-13); New Birth and Regeneration (root anchor at 1:12-13, developed fully in ch. 3). Risk concentration: Critical (5 doctrines), High (2). This chapter is the single densest concentration of Critical-tier Christological doctrine in the book and should be prioritized for theologian review ahead of all other chapters.

John 2 — Wedding at Cana; Temple Cleansing

Doctrines present: Resurrection of Christ (2:19-22, temple-body prophecy anticipating the event fully developed at chs. 11, 20-21). Reviewed — remaining material (the Cana sign, the temple-cleansing narrative itself) contributes no additional registry doctrine; the “sign” (σημεῖον) vocabulary here is a supporting term (see 08_core_glossary.md Table B) rather than a stand-alone doctrine, and is noted for lexical rather than doctrinal tracking.

John 3 — Nicodemus Discourse (CORE PASSAGE, 3:1-21) and John the Baptist’s Further Testimony (3:22-36)

Doctrines present: New Birth and Regeneration by the Spirit (3:3-8, primary anchor); Flesh and Spirit Contrast (3:6-8); Son of Man designation (3:13-14); The Son’s Descent from Heaven (3:13,31); Bronze Serpent Typology (3:14); Eternal Life through Faith (3:15-16,36); God’s Love for the World (3:16-17, primary anchor); The World’s Dual Sense (3:16-17); Judgment and Belief/Unbelief (3:17-19,36); Light and Darkness (3:19-21); The Wrath of God (3:36); Testimony/Witness Chain (3:11,26-33). This is the theological anchor chapter for the entire curriculum: 12 of the 40 registry doctrines are directly supported here, 8 of them Critical. Every doctrine in this chapter requires human theologian review without exception.

John 4 — Samaritan Woman; Nobleman’s Son

Doctrines present: Eternal Life through Faith (4:14,36, “living water” supporting term); Worship Rightly Directed to Christ (4:20-24, primary anchor for “Spirit and truth” worship). Reviewed — the Samaritans’ “Savior of the world” confession (4:42) is tracked as a Table B supporting term (core_glossary.md) built on the baseline salvation entry rather than a separate registry doctrine.

John 5 — Healing at Bethesda; Discourse on the Son’s Authority

Doctrines present: Unity of the Father and the Son (5:17-26, first sustained development); Sonship of Christ (5:25); Judgment and Belief/Unbelief (5:22,24,27,29-30); Resurrection of Christ (5:29); Testimony/Witness Chain (5:31-39); Eternal Life through Faith (5:24,39); Inspiration and Authority of Scripture (5:39). All Critical/High; theologian review required throughout.

John 6 — Feeding of the Five Thousand; Bread of Life Discourse

Doctrines present: Eternal Life through Faith (6:27,40,47,54,68); Son of Man designation (6:27,53,62); The Son’s Descent from Heaven (6:33,38,41-42,50-51,58, major development); The Seven “I Am” Statements — Bread of Life (6:35,48); Christ as the Sufficient Bread of Life (6:35,48,51); Christ’s Substitutionary Death — “flesh and blood” language (6:51-56); Christ’s Sovereign Choosing/Election — “the Father draws” (6:44). This chapter is the second-densest descent/avatāra-collision concentration after ch. 3 and should be taught as a connected unit with it.

John 7 — Feast of Tabernacles Discourse

Reviewed — no new registry doctrine. Messiah/Christ identity questions (7:26-31,41-42), the Law (7:19-23), and Scripture-inspiration references reuse baseline/already-registered terms (messiah, law) without introducing new doctrinal risk. John 7:39’s forward reference to the Spirit “not yet given” is noted but not treated as a separate doctrine occurrence, since it anticipates rather than teaches the Counselor doctrine developed in chs. 14-16.

John 8 — “I Am the Light of the World”; Dispute over Abraham

Doctrines present: The Seven “I Am” Statements — Light of the World (8:12); Light and Darkness (8:12); The Absolute “I Am” as the Divine Name (8:24,28,58, major anchor); Truth as Ultimate Reality (8:32,44); Judgment and Belief/Unbelief (8:15-16,26); Testimony/Witness Chain (8:13-18). 8:58 is one of the most theologically load-bearing single verses in the book (absolute I Am + pre-existence combined); flag for priority theologian review.

John 9 — Healing of the Man Born Blind

Doctrines present: The Seven “I Am” Statements — Light of the World (9:5); Light and Darkness (9:5); Judgment and Belief/Unbelief (9:39); Worship Rightly Directed to Christ (9:38, first explicit worship-of-Jesus scene).

John 10 — Good Shepherd Discourse; “I and the Father Are One”

Doctrines present: The Seven “I Am” Statements — Door/Gate, Good Shepherd (10:7,9,11,14); Christ as the Good Shepherd Who Lays Down His Life (10:11,14-15,17-18); Christ’s Substitutionary Death (10:11,15,17-18); Unity of the Father and the Son (10:30, primary anchor); Deity of Christ (10:30,33). 10:30 is the single most direct textual statement of the Unity doctrine in the book; requires theologian review paired explicitly with 14:28 per the registry’s tandem-teaching requirement.

John 11 — Raising of Lazarus

Doctrines present: Resurrection of Christ (11:24-25, preview/sign); The Seven “I Am” Statements — Resurrection and the Life (11:25); Children of God by the New Birth (11:52, “scattered children of God”).

John 12 — Triumphal Entry; Greeks Seek Jesus; Unbelief of the Crowds

Doctrines present: Judgment and Belief/Unbelief (12:31,47-48); Light and Darkness (12:35-36,46); Christ’s Sovereign Choosing/Election — “I will draw all people” (12:32); Son of Man designation (12:23,34). Reviewed — “ruler of this world” (12:31) is tracked as a Table B supporting term under the Judgment doctrine, not a separate registry entry; note that মপু, its root, is also Christ’s own Lordship-title root and must be marked illegitimate/temporary when applied to Satan.

John 13 — Footwashing; New Commandment; Prediction of Betrayal and Denial

Doctrines present: The New Commandment to Love One Another (13:34-35, primary anchor); Son of Man designation (13:31); Christ’s Substitutionary Death — “lay down his life” (13:37-38). Reviewed — the footwashing narrative itself (13:1-17) is treated as illustrative of God’s Love for the World / New Commandment doctrines already registered rather than a separate doctrine.

John 14 — “I Am the Way, the Truth, and the Life”; First Counselor Promise

Doctrines present: The Holy Spirit as Counselor (14:16,26, primary anchor); The Spirit’s Guidance into All Truth (14:17); Unity of the Father and the Son (14:9-11); The Father as Functionally Greater (14:28, primary anchor); Truth as Ultimate Reality (14:6,17); The Seven “I Am” Statements — Way, Truth, Life (14:6). 14:28 must always be taught paired with 10:30 (see registry note); flag both together for theologian review as a single teaching unit.

John 15 — True Vine; Second Counselor Promise; Command to Love; World’s Hatred

Doctrines present: The Holy Spirit as Counselor (15:26); The Spirit’s Guidance into All Truth (15:26); The Seven “I Am” Statements — True Vine (15:1,5); The New Commandment to Love One Another (15:12-13,17); Christ’s Sovereign Choosing/Election (15:16,19); The World’s Dual Sense — hostile-system sense (15:18-19); Christ’s Substitutionary Death (15:13).

John 16 — Third Counselor Promise; Sorrow Turned to Joy

Doctrines present: The Spirit’s Guidance into All Truth (16:13); Judgment and Belief/Unbelief — the Spirit’s convicting work (16:8,11); Assurance through Christ’s Victory over the World (16:33, primary anchor). Reviewed — the Sending Mission doctrine’s broader development continues here implicitly but its primary textual anchors remain 17:18-25 and 20:21.

John 17 — High Priestly Prayer

Doctrines present: Pre-existence of Christ (17:5,24); Unity of the Father and the Son (17:11,21-22); Believers’ Unity Patterned on the Father-Son Unity (17:11,21-22, primary anchor); Sanctification through God’s Truth (17:17,19, primary anchor); Eternal Life through Faith (17:2-3, “this is eternal life” definition); The Sending Mission from Father to Son to Disciples (17:18,21,23,25, primary anchor); God’s Love for the World (17:23-26). A doctrinally dense chapter requiring careful sequencing in Phase 2 to keep the Unity-of-Father-Son and Believers’-Unity doctrines distinct per the registry’s explicit caution against conflation.

John 18 — Arrest and Trials

Doctrines present: The Absolute “I Am” as the Divine Name — “I am he” to the soldiers (18:5-6,8); Christ’s Kingdom Is Not of This World (18:36, primary anchor); Truth as Ultimate Reality — “What is truth?” (18:37-38).

John 19 — Crucifixion

Doctrines present: Christ as the Sacrificial Lamb of God — bone-not-broken fulfillment (19:36); The Sufficiency of the Finished Work of the Cross — “It is finished” (19:30, primary anchor); Christ’s Substitutionary Death. Reviewed — the remaining trial/crucifixion narrative detail (Pilate’s inscription, the soldiers’ division of garments, the spear-thrust) is non-atonement narrative material contributing no additional registry doctrine beyond what is listed above.

John 20 — Resurrection Appearances; Thomas’s Confession; Purpose Statement

Doctrines present: Deity of Christ — “My Lord and my God” (20:28, climactic anchor); Resurrection of Christ (20:1-29, primary narrative fulfillment); Delegated Authority to Declare Forgiveness of Sins (20:23, primary anchor); Inspiration and Authority of Scripture (20:9); Eternal Life through Faith / Sonship of Christ (20:31, book’s purpose statement, parallel in weight to Romans 1:16-17). 20:28 and 20:31 together form the Gospel’s doctrinal climax and thesis; both require theologian review with the same priority the baseline gives Romans 1:16-17, 8:28, and 10:9-10.

John 21 — Epilogue; Restoration of Peter; Final Testimony

Doctrines present: Resurrection of Christ (21:1-14, final appearance narrative); The Chain of Testimony to Christ (21:24, closing authentication). Reviewed — Peter’s threefold restoration (21:15-17) and its love-vocabulary interplay (agapaō/phileō) is tracked as a supporting lexical note under God’s Love for the World / New Commandment doctrines rather than a separate registry doctrine, since the registry does not carry a distinct entry for this nuance.

Summary

  • All 21 chapters of John reviewed; every chapter either supports one or more of the 40 registry doctrines or is explicitly marked “Reviewed — no new doctrine.”
  • Core passage (John 3:1-21) is confirmed as the single most doctrinally dense chapter-section in the book (12 of 40 registry doctrines directly anchored there) and functions as this curriculum’s theological anchor, not its scope.
  • Descent/avatāra-collision cluster (chs. 1, 3, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 15, 18) should be sequenced and taught as one connected unit across Phase 2 materials, per the core glossary’s own recommendation.
  • Serpent typology (3:14) remains the single most Manipuri-specific doctrinal risk in the book, with no parallel in the Romans baseline, and warrants dedicated translator training material.
  • Love (agapē) / Ras Lila (prema) collision (chs. 3, 13, 15, 17, 21) is judged equal in weight to the baseline’s grace/bhakti collision and should receive equivalent curriculum treatment across all relevant chapters, not only ch. 3.
  • Tier totals across the full book: Critical 21 · High 16 · Medium 3 · Low 0 — 37 doctrines require human theologian review and 3 require native speaker review; no doctrine in John qualifies for automated-only review, reflecting the Gospel’s unusually high proportion of Christological and pneumatological load-bearing content relative to the Romans baseline.

Critical Risk Doctrines

Deity of Christ

Manipuri name: ক্রিস্তোগী তেংবাং মপু ওইবা
Key terms: word_logos, god, equal_with_god, my_lord_and_my_god, i_am_absolute
Review routing: Human theologian

Full, co-equal divine nature must never be softened into ‘a great avatar’ or ‘a specially favored spirit within the Umang Lai pantheon.’ John 1:1’s ‘the Word was God’ and Thomas’s climactic 20:28 confession are the sharpest textual anchors and must render তেংবাং মপু without qualification, never ঠাকুর.

Pre-existence of Christ

Manipuri name: ক্রিস্তো তসেংনা লৈরম্বগী ৱাফম
Key terms: word_logos, glory, heaven
Review routing: Human theologian

John’s grammar itself (ἦν, ‘was,’ contrasted with ἐγένετο, ‘came into being’) asserts eternal pre-existence prior to and outside creation. Manipuri tense-aspect marking cannot unambiguously carry this distinction, requiring a mandatory translator’s note; must not be softened into a temporally bounded divine favor granted at a point in history, as Vaishnava avatara accounts describe Krishna’s periodic appearances.

Incarnation

Manipuri name: মীওইগী মহৈ লৌবা
Key terms: word_logos, flesh, incarnation
Review routing: Human theologian

CRITICAL: never অবতার. Because Manipuri Vaishnavism’s devotion to Krishna as an avatar of Vishnu is expressed through the historically royal-patronized, now UNESCO-recognized Ras Lila dance tradition, avatar theology is a matter of prestigious, actively performed cultural-religious identity for Meitei Hindus. John 1:14 is this doctrine’s primary textual anchor and must be taught as the eternal Son’s permanent, unique assumption of human nature, once, not a recurring divine descent enacted in devotional dance.

Sonship of Christ

Manipuri name: ক্রিস্তোগী মচানুপা ওইবা, অমা খক্তা ওইবা
Key terms: son_of_god, only_begotten_son
Review routing: Human theologian

CRITICAL: eternal, unique, unshared Sonship, not one avatar among Vishnu’s many recognized avatars. The μονογενής qualifier (অমা খক্তা ওইবা) must always accompany the Sonship title in these passages to rule out a ‘one among several’ reading of Christ’s status.

The Son’s Descent from Heaven

Manipuri name: স্বর্গদগী কুম্থরকপগী ৱাফম
Key terms: descend_ascend_from_heaven, heaven, son_of_man
Review routing: Human theologian

CRITICAL: this is the single sharpest doctrinal collision risk in John for a Manipuri Vaishnava audience. Sanskrit avatara literally means ‘descent,’ and Krishna’s periodic ‘coming down’ from Vaikuntha is the very grammar of avatara theology celebrated in the Ras Lila. Must be taught as a single, unique, permanent descent of the eternal Son, never as one instance of a repeatable avatara pattern. Treat as a connected teaching unit alongside the I Am statements and ‘lifted up’ language, not as isolated verses.

The New Birth and Regeneration by the Spirit

Manipuri name: অনৌবা পোকপা অমসুং থাওয়াই অসেংবাগী থৌদাং
Key terms: new_birth, born_of_water_and_spirit, flesh
Review routing: Human theologian

CRITICAL: must never be rendered with or drift toward পুনর্জন্ম, the rebirth/reincarnation vocabulary absorbed into Meitei religious discourse through Vaishnavization. The Greek ἄνωθεν’s double sense (‘again’/‘from above’) is largely lost in Manipuri and requires an explicit translator’s note; Nicodemus’s own confusion (3:4) dramatizes this ambiguity and provides a built-in teaching hook that this curriculum should exploit directly.

The Holy Spirit as Counselor

Manipuri name: থাওয়াই অসেংবা পাংজিনবিরকপা ওইবা
Key terms: counselor_paraclete, holy_spirit, spirit_of_truth
Review routing: Human theologian

CRITICAL: the anchor doctrine for this curriculum’s named ‘Holy Spirit as Counselor’ theme. The compound must always retain অসেংবা so this personal, distinct-but-not-separate divine Helper is never assimilated into a maibi’s mediumistic role as channel for an Umang Lai deity’s comfort/counsel, nor into an ancestral household spirit (Apokpa) invoked for protection.

The Spirit’s Guidance into All Truth

Manipuri name: থাওয়াই অসেংবানা অচুম্বাদা চৈরকপগী থৌদাং
Key terms: spirit_of_truth, truth, convict
Review routing: Human theologian

The Spirit’s convicting and truth-guiding work must be distinguished from a maibi’s oracular trance-utterance during Lai Haraoba, and from customary community shaming/correction processes; this is the Spirit’s own exposing and teaching work.

Eternal Life through Faith in Christ

Manipuri name: থাজবা তৌবগী মখলদা ফংবা অতৈ লৈতবা হিংবা
Key terms: eternal_life, life, faith
Review routing: Human theologian

CRITICAL: must never be conflated with মোক্ষ (Vaishnava liberation, already forbidden in the baseline) or with a devotee’s hoped-for eternal nearness to or union with Krishna in Vaikuntha/Goloka. John 17:3 gives the strongest textual basis for teaching eternal life as relational knowledge of the true God through the Son, not a liberative or absorptive state.

God’s Love for the World

Manipuri name: মালেমবু তেংবাং মপুনা নুংশিবগী ৱাফম
Key terms: love_agape, world_kosmos, only_begotten_son
Review routing: Human theologian

CRITICAL: Manipuri Vaishnavism’s most celebrated devotional expression, the UNESCO-recognized Ras Lila, portrays Krishna-Radha love (prema) as intensely romantic and mystical, a matter of prestigious, currently performed cultural-religious identity, not a distant classical reference. John 3:16’s agape love — God’s self-giving initiative toward the unworthy, culminating in sacrificial death — must be taught explicitly against this framework, the book’s single most important comparative love-language risk.

Light and Darkness

Manipuri name: মমাং অমসুং অমম্বগী ৱাফম
Key terms: light, darkness
Review routing: Human theologian

CRITICAL: Sanamahi cosmology describes Atiya Guru Sidaba, the formless, colorless supreme reality preceding creation, in terms closely bound up with primordial light; Ras Lila staging is deliberately designed to visually evoke Krishna’s own divine radiance for worshippers. Christ’s title as ‘light of the world’ must be taught with explicit care against both associations, treated with the same seriousness as the baseline’s glory caution.

The Wrath of God against Unbelief

Manipuri name: থাজদবগী মথক্তা তেংবাং মপুগী অসাউবা
Key terms: wrath_of_god
Review routing: Human theologian

CRITICAL: must be sharply distinguished from a capricious Umang Lai deity’s anger at ritual neglect, traditionally addressed through propitiatory Lai Haraoba offerings via a maibi/maiba, and from Vaishnava prayaschitta rites that appease divine displeasure through ritual action. God’s wrath in John is a holy, moral-judicial response to unbelief, resolved only through faith in the Son, never through ritual appeasement.

The Seven ‘I Am’ Statements

Manipuri name: ঐ অসি হায়বগী ৱারোল তরেৎ
Key terms: i_am_predicate, bread_of_life, light, door_gate, good_shepherd, resurrection_and_life, way_truth_life, true_vine
Review routing: Human theologian

CRITICAL: each metaphor must be taught with its own required cultural background (manna typology, Sanamahi/Ras Lila light associations, OT vineyard covenant imagery, etc.), and the set as a whole should be taught as a single connected unit alongside the absolute I Am claim and the descent-from-heaven cluster, since several statements directly overlap with the avatara-collision risk.

The Absolute ‘I Am’ as the Divine Name

Manipuri name: ঐহাক ঐ অসি হায়বগী তেংবাং মপুগী মিং
Key terms: i_am_absolute
Review routing: Human theologian

CRITICAL: deliberately echoes the divine self-name of Exodus 3:14 LXX. Manipuri grammar has no exact structural equivalent to the Greek’s emphatic absolute construction; every occurrence requires a mandatory translator’s note connecting it to the divine name revealed to Moses, since a plain rendering could otherwise be misread as an ordinary self-identifying statement rather than a deity claim.

The Bronze Serpent Typology

Manipuri name: লিং থাংজিনখিবগী ৱারোল
Key terms: serpent, lifted_up
Review routing: Human theologian

CRITICAL: a major, distinctive risk unique to Manipuri. Pakhangba, the ancestral serpent-deity of Sanamahi cosmology (elder-brother relationship to Sanamahi, and a marker of the historic Meitei royal lineage), is an object of positive ancestral-divine veneration. The Numbers 21 bronze serpent is the opposite image — a symbol of judgment remedied only by looking to what God provided, not a deity to be venerated in itself. Requires explicit Old Testament background teaching to prevent the serpent image being read as honorific in the Pakhangba sense.

Christ’s Substitutionary Death

Manipuri name: ক্রিস্তোনা মখোয়গী মহুৎতা হিংবা পীথোকখিবগী থৌদাং
Key terms: lay_down_life, lamb_of_god, flesh_and_blood_eucharistic, it_is_finished
Review routing: Human theologian

CRITICAL: must be taught as a unique, historical, once-for-all voluntary act, not a repeatable devotional posture of self-surrender (cf. Vaishnava prapatti self-surrender to Krishna) or a maibi’s trance-state self-offering. The eucharistic ‘flesh and blood’ language (6:53-56) additionally risks assimilation into a Vaishnava prasadam (consecrated-food) framework and requires explicit teaching against both crude literalism and that devotional-food framework.

The Sufficiency of the Finished Work of the Cross

Manipuri name: মপুং ফাউরে হায়বগী মপুং ফাবা থৌদাং
Key terms: it_is_finished
Review routing: Human theologian

CRITICAL: must convey a completed, sufficient, once-for-all atoning work requiring no supplementation through ongoing devotional service (bhakti seva) or repeated propitiatory ritual, as in Lai Haraoba offerings to maintain right standing with the Umang Lai. Directly extends the baseline’s grace and imputed-righteousness cautions to the cross itself.

Christ’s Resurrection

Manipuri name: ক্রিস্তোগী সিবদগী হিংজত-লকপা
Key terms: resurrection, resurrection_and_life
Review routing: Human theologian

CRITICAL: bodily, once-for-all resurrection, never পুনর্জন্ম, the rebirth/reincarnation concept absorbed into Meitei religious discourse through Vaishnavization. The Lazarus narrative (ch.11) dramatizes bodily, historical resurrection as a preview/sign of Christ’s own and must remain sharply distinct from any cyclical-rebirth reading; John 2:19-22’s temple-body prophecy anticipates the same event.

Unity of the Father and the Son

Manipuri name: ইপা অমসুং মচানুপাগী অমা ওইবগী থৌদাং
Key terms: i_and_father_are_one, sent, father
Review routing: Human theologian

CRITICAL: must be taught as co-essential unity within the one Godhead (Trinitarian unity-in-distinction), not as pantheistic merging/absorption, a risk paralleling both a devotee’s aspiration for mystical union with Krishna in some bhakti schools and any residual monistic Brahman-Atman identity concept present in broader regional Hindu philosophical discourse. The Father-Son ‘sending’ relationship (over 40 occurrences across the book) expresses this same unity of purpose with distinction of persons and must not be read as a subordinate maiba/maibi-style messenger relationship.

The Father as Functionally Greater in the Son’s Incarnate Mission

Manipuri name: মীওইগী মহৈ লৌবগী থৌদাংদা ইপা হেন্না চাউবগী ৱাফম
Key terms: father_greater_than_i, i_and_father_are_one
Review routing: Human theologian

CRITICAL: must be taught alongside 10:30’s essential unity to prevent a subordinationist misreading. This is a functional/mission statement about the incarnate Son’s submitted role, not a statement of unequal divine essence; failing to pair these two passages risks either an Arian-style demotion of the Son or, conversely, an unexplained contradiction for new readers.

Believers’ Unity Patterned on the Father-Son Unity

Manipuri name: থাজবা তৌবা মীওইশিংগী অমা ওইবগী থৌদাং
Key terms: that_they_may_be_one
Review routing: Human theologian

CRITICAL: believers’ unity is relational/purposive, patterned after (not identical to) the Father-Son ontological unity of 10:30; must not be taught as believers achieving the same essential divine unity, and must not be read through a mystical-absorption bhakti lens or a monistic Brahman-Atman lens.

High Risk Doctrines

Son of Man as Messianic Self-Designation

Manipuri name: মীওইগী মচানুপা ওইবগী মিং
Key terms: son_of_man
Review routing: Human theologian

This title deliberately pairs full humanity with divine authority (Daniel 7:13-14 background); risk of being flattened into either ‘merely a man’ or, given the heaven-descent language attached to it (3:13), an avatar-style divine visitor. Requires explicit Old Testament apocalyptic background teaching.

Flesh and Spirit Contrast

Manipuri name: হাক্চাং অমসুং থাওয়াইগী য়াননবা
Key terms: flesh, spirit_wind_wordplay, holy_spirit
Review routing: Human theologian

Natural human birth produces only natural human life; it cannot of itself produce spiritual life. The Greek pneuma wordplay (wind/Spirit) is largely untranslatable in Manipuri, which uses two distinct words; bare থাওয়াই must never substitute for the personal Holy Spirit without অসেংবা, since it risks activating the populated Sanamahi ancestral/nature-spirit world.

The World’s Dual Sense: Loved Object and Hostile System

Manipuri name: মালেমগী মখল অনি — নুংশিবগী মখল অমসুং য়েৎনবগী মখল
Key terms: world_kosmos
Review routing: Human theologian

κόσμος ranges from the created order/humanity (loved-object sense, 3:16) to the fallen world-system opposed to God (hostile sense, 15:18-19). মালেম, if functioning locally as a specific cosmological middle-earth plane, risks narrowing the term to a location rather than humanity in its fallen totality; each occurrence must be checked for which sense is active.

Judgment and Belief/Unbelief

Manipuri name: থাজবা অমসুং থাজদবগী ৱায়েল
Key terms: judgment_krisis, perish, faith
Review routing: Human theologian

ৱায়েল, the ordinary Meitei word for a judicial verdict (including customary clan-council/yumnak/lup verdicts), must be clearly marked as God’s own righteous verdict on belief/unbelief, not a human customary-law process, and distinguished from a maibi’s oracular divinatory verdict.

The Chain of Testimony to Christ

Manipuri name: ক্রিস্তোগী মথক্তা সাক্ষী পীবগী ৱাফম
Key terms: witness_testimony
Review routing: Human theologian

John the Baptist, the Father, Scripture, Christ’s own works, the Spirit, and the disciples all ‘testify’ in a structured, legal-style case for Christ’s identity; this sober, verifiable, historical eyewitness attestation must be sharply distinguished from a maibi’s trance-mediated oracular testimony during Lai Haraoba, understood locally as a channeled message from an Umang Lai deity.

Truth as Ultimate Reality Revealed in Christ

Manipuri name: ক্রিস্তোদা ফোংদোকপা অচুম্বগী ৱাফম
Key terms: truth
Review routing: Human theologian

অচুম্বা is preferred over the Sanskrit/Bengali loan সত্য to maintain root-consistency with the baseline righteousness term and to avoid competing with সত্য’s broader philosophical resonance in regional Hindu bhakti thought, where Satya functions as a devotional divine attribute.

Christ as the Good Shepherd Who Lays Down His Life

Manipuri name: য়াও চৌথোকপা ফবগী থৌদাং
Key terms: good_shepherd, lay_down_life
Review routing: Human theologian

Pastoral/herding imagery is culturally distant from Manipur’s rice-agrarian valley economy and requires explanatory background; the central point of voluntary substitutionary self-sacrifice must not be lost to unfamiliarity with the shepherd role itself.

Christ as the Sacrificial Lamb of God

Manipuri name: তেংবাং মপুগী য়াওবী ওইবা ক্রিস্তো
Key terms: lamb_of_god
Review routing: Human theologian

Sheep/lamb are not a major traditional Meitei sacrificial animal (Sanamahi ritual sacrifice more typically involves fowl, pig, or buffalo; Vaishnavism, shaped by ahimsa, rejects animal sacrifice altogether). Requires explicit OT Passover/Levitical sacrificial background teaching since neither living local tradition offers a ready cultural bridge, and Vaishnavism actively opposes the underlying practice on doctrinal grounds.

Worship Rightly Directed to Christ

Manipuri name: ক্রিস্তোবু খুরুম্জবগী থৌদাং
Key terms: worship
Review routing: Human theologian

খুরুম্জবা is also the ordinary Meitei verb for respectful greeting extended to elders, royalty, and deities generically; when directed at Jesus (9:38, implicitly 20:28), it must be marked clearly as exclusive worship of the true God, not customary reverence of the kind given at a Vaishnava temple or an Umang Lai sacred grove. True worship (4:20-24) is Spirit-and-truth grounded, not place-bound.

The New Commandment to Love One Another

Manipuri name: অমাগা অমাগা নুংশিনবগী অনৌবা য়াথাং
Key terms: new_commandment_love, love_agape
Review routing: Human theologian

This command’s love-standard (‘as I have loved you,’ i.e. unto self-sacrificial death) must be clearly distinguished from Ras Lila’s romantic-devotional Radha-Krishna love paradigm; it is the visible evidence of belonging to Christ, not a devotional-affective practice.

The Sending Mission from Father to Son to Disciples

Manipuri name: ইপাদগী মচানুপাদা, মচানুপাদগী তদিশিংদা থাবিরকপগী থৌদাং
Key terms: sent, apostle
Review routing: Human theologian

Given the history of American Baptist mission work in the Manipur hills becoming entangled in regional memory with colonial-era administration and, more recently, with sensitive inter-community relations within Manipur, this doctrine should be framed as the church’s own Christ-commissioned calling rather than a foreign or ethnically-coded project, consistent with the baseline’s mission entry.

Delegated Authority to Declare Forgiveness of Sins

Manipuri name: পাপ কোকপগী থৌদাং তদিশিংদা পীবিখিবা
Key terms: forgive_sins, sin
Review routing: Human theologian

Must be distinguished from a maibi’s or maiba’s independent ritual absolution act performed on a petitioner’s behalf; this delegated authority is exercised in proclaiming the gospel’s own terms of forgiveness, not through independent ritual mediation.

Children of God by the New Birth

Manipuri name: অনৌবা পোকপগী মখলদা তেংবাং মপুগী মচা ওইবা
Key terms: children_of_god, new_birth
Review routing: Human theologian

Organic, birth-based family belonging received ‘not of blood nor of the will of the flesh…but of God,’ complementing rather than duplicating the baseline’s legal-adoption image; the two pictures (organic birth and legal adoption) must be taught as compatible, not conflated.

Inspiration and Authority of Scripture

Manipuri name: অসেংবা ৱারোলগী মপুং ফাবগী থৌদাং
Key terms: scripture_cannot_be_broken, witness_testimony
Review routing: Human theologian

Extends the baseline’s Inspiration of Scripture doctrine, already flagged High with specific sensitivity to Meitei cultural memory of the 1729 Puya Meithaba manuscript-burning; John 10:35’s ‘Scripture cannot be broken’ should be taught with this historical sensitivity, emphasizing God’s providential preservation of his word.

Christ’s Sovereign Choosing of His Own

Manipuri name: ক্রিস্তোনা মখোয়বু খনখিবগী থৌদাং
Key terms: election, draw
Review routing: Human theologian

Directly reuses the baseline election doctrine (‘You did not choose me, but I chose you,’ 15:16). Must not be rendered with or drift toward ৱাইফম (impersonal fate), already forbidden in the baseline, nor read as a royal-divine-lineage selection of the Pakhangba-descent type.

Sanctification through God’s Truth

Manipuri name: অচুম্বাগী মখলদা অসেংবা ওইহনবগী থৌদাং
Key terms: sanctification, truth
Review routing: Human theologian

The Spirit’s/Christ’s ongoing work of making believers holy through God’s truth-revealing word; distinct from ritual purification before Lai Haraoba or Vaishnava temple worship, which is periodic and ritual-state-based rather than truth-grounded and ongoing.

Medium Risk Doctrines

Christ as the Sufficient Bread of Life

Manipuri name: হিংবগী রুটি ওইবা ক্রিস্তো
Key terms: bread_of_life
Review routing: Native speaker review

Rice, not bread, is the Manipuri dietary staple; the loanword রুটি is recommended to preserve the wilderness-manna/Passover-bread typology rather than substituting rice, which would lose the typological link entirely.

Assurance through Christ’s Victory over the World

Manipuri name: ক্রিস্তোনা মালেমবু মায়ক ফাংখিবগী থাজবা
Key terms: overcome_the_world
Review routing: Native speaker review

Care should be taken that this is not heard through a martial-heroic lens resonant with Meitei warrior traditions (e.g. Thang-Ta, associated with Sanamahi ancestor-heroes); Christ’s victory is spiritual and already accomplished, not a call to martial conquest.

Christ’s Kingdom Is Not of This World

Manipuri name: ক্রিস্তোগী লৈপাক মালেম অসিগী নত্তবগী থৌদাং
Key terms: kingdom_of_god
Review routing: Native speaker review

Distinguishes Christ’s kingship from any earthly political kingship, including implicitly the historic Meitei ningthou’s own royal-divine-lineage political framing, traditionally legitimated through descent from the ancestral serpent-deity Pakhangba, per the baseline’s kingdom_of_god entry.
