Cross-Reference Analysis
09 Cross-Reference and Theme Analysis — Revelation
Method and Scope
This document maps every Old Testament quotation and allusion, every messianic reference, every typological pattern, and every direct parallel to the Romans curriculum, across the entire book of Revelation, chapters 1–22. Citations are normalized in the format Book Chapter:Verse (e.g., Genesis 15:6, Galatians 2:16) to match the YouVersion reference system per the baseline’s citation conventions. Revelation quotes the Old Testament more densely, per verse, than any other New Testament book (over 250 identifiable allusions, though almost never with a formal citation formula such as “as it is written”), so this matrix prioritizes load-bearing connections — those that carry doctrinal weight for this curriculum’s nine core doctrines — while noting representative allusions in lower-density chapters explicitly rather than silently omitting them.
Columns:
- Passage — the Revelation reference
- Theme — the curriculum doctrine(s) engaged
- Related Character/Figure — the biblical person, group, or symbolic figure carrying the connection
- OT/NT Connection — the specific source text(s), normalized
- Translation Sensitivity — the specific Manipuri rendering risk, keyed to
translation_memory.json,bible_term_registry.json, and the Revelation-specific terms established in07_semantic_analysis.md/08_core_glossary.md
Part 1: Rendering-Consistency Rules for Shared Quotations (Romans ↔ Revelation)
Because this curriculum sits alongside the existing Romans Language Package, the following quotations and formulas appear (in whole, in part, or in clear thematic echo) in both curricula and must receive identical Manipuri renderings wherever they recur, per the baseline’s theological consistency rules.
| # | Shared Source Text | Romans Occurrence | Revelation Occurrence | Consistency Rule |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Genesis 3:15 (protoevangelium: the seed of the woman will crush the serpent’s head) | Romans 16:20 — “the God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet” | Revelation 12:9-11, Revelation 20:2-3,10 — the ancient serpent/dragon bound and finally defeated | Critical. This is the single most important cross-curriculum theological thread in the whole Bible-history arc. Both curricula must use ড্রাগন (Dragon, transliterated) and/or শাইতান (Shaitan) consistently for the serpent-figure identity, and never a native Manipuri word for “great serpent,” to avoid the Pakhangba ancestral-serpent-deity collision documented in 07_semantic_analysis.md (ch.12 entry). Romans 16:20’s “Satan crushed underfoot” must be footnoted as pointing forward to Revelation 12 and 20’s fuller unveiling of this same defeat. |
| 2 | Habakkuk 2:4 (“the righteous shall live by faith”) | Romans 1:17 — thesis-statement quotation | Revelation 2:10 (“be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life”); Revelation 14:12 (“here is a call for the endurance of the saints… who… hold to their faith in Jesus”) | High. থাজবা (faith, baseline High risk) must retain the same “sustained trust resulting in life” sense across both books; Revelation’s persecution setting intensifies but does not change Habakkuk/Romans’s basic faith-unto-life logic. |
| 3 | Psalm 44:22 (“we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered”) | Romans 8:36 — quoted directly in the “more than conquerors” passage | Revelation 5:6,12 — the Lamb “as though slain” (ἐσφαγμένον); Revelation 6:9-11 — souls slain for the word of God | High. The slaughter-root হাত্খ্রবা (hatkhraba, “having been killed/slain,” established for the Lamb at Rev 5:6) should also inform how Romans 8:36’s “slaughter” is rendered, so a Manipuri reader can perceive the same scriptural thread joining Christ’s own sacrificial death to his followers’ martyrdom. |
| 4 | Psalm 2 (esp. Psalm 2:7-9) | Not directly quoted in Romans, but Romans 1:4 (“declared to be the Son of God… by his resurrection”) stands in the same Davidic-enthronement theological stream as Psalm 2 | Revelation 12:5, Revelation 19:15 — direct quotation, “rule them with a rod of iron” | Critical. Reuse তেংবাং মপুগী মচানুপা (Son of God, baseline Critical) and the Davidic-covenant vocabulary (দাউদগী চা-চাহি) exactly; Psalm 2’s enthronement-of-God’s-Son theme is the hidden scriptural hinge between Romans 1:3-4 and Revelation 12/19. |
| 5 | 2 Samuel 7:14, Jeremiah 31:33 (covenant sonship formula: “I will be his God, and he will be my son / my people”) | Underlies Romans 8:14-17, Romans 9:4 (adoption, sonship) | Revelation 21:3,7 — direct quotation/echo, “they will be his people… I will be his God and he will be my son” | Critical. Reuse মচা ওইনা লৌবা (adoption, baseline High) and তেংবাং মপু (God, Critical) exactly; this is the clearest textual bridge in the entire Bible between the Romans 8 adoption doctrine and Revelation 21’s climax. Teach explicitly as one continuous covenant promise, not two unrelated sonship statements. |
| 6 | Hosea 1:10, Hosea 2:23 (“those who were not my people I will call my people”) | Romans 9:25-26 — quoted directly, Gentile inclusion | Revelation 21:3 — “they will be his people” (covenant formula, universalized to the redeemed multitude of every nation, cf. Revelation 7:9) | High. মখোয়গী মীওইশিং (his people) must be rendered identically in both curricula; ties Unity of Jews and Gentiles / Universal Scope of the Gospel doctrine across both books. |
| 7 | Isaiah 40:13, Job 41:11 (doxology: “who has known the mind of the Lord”) | Romans 11:33-36 — closing doxology of Romans 9-11 | Revelation 15:3-4, Revelation 19:1-6 — heavenly doxologies to God’s sovereign justice and reign | Medium. Keep doxological formula structure and vocabulary (থাগৎচরি, মতিক চাউবা) parallel across both books’ climactic praise passages. |
| 8 | Genesis 15:6 (Abraham’s faith credited as righteousness) | Romans 4:3 — direct quotation, foundational to imputed righteousness doctrine | Revelation 19:8 — the bride’s “fine linen, bright and pure… the righteous deeds of the saints” | Critical — requires explicit distinguishing note, not a consistency rule. Romans 4 teaches righteousness credited apart from works (পীথোকপা অচুম্বা চৎনবিরাক); Revelation 19:8’s “righteous deeds” (τὰ δικαιώματα) are the visible fruit of already-imputed righteousness, worn at the wedding, not a merit-basis for acceptance. Phase 2 translators must add a translator note at Revelation 19:8 preventing readers from reading it as contradicting or replacing Romans 4’s imputation doctrine — a live risk given Manipuri Vaishnavism’s own devotional-service (সেবা)-based framework for approaching the divine. |
| 9 | Genesis 22 (Isaac); Exodus 12 (Passover lamb); Isaiah 53:7 (led like a lamb to slaughter) | Echoed in Romans 3:25 (propitiation through his blood), Romans 8:32 (“he did not spare his own Son”) | Revelation 5:6-12; Revelation 7:14 (“washed their robes in the blood of the Lamb”); pervasive | Critical. য়াওমচা (Lamb, Critical) must consistently carry this full sacrificial-substitution weight across both curricula; never let it flatten into a merely gentle/pastoral image divorced from atonement. |
| 10 | Romans 10:9 (“if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord… you will be saved”) | Romans curriculum’s central salvation-confession, flagged for verbatim consistency in the baseline | Revelation 22:20 (“Come, Lord Jesus”); Revelation 19:16 (“King of kings and Lord of lords”) | Critical. মপু ইবুংগো (Lord, Critical) must be rendered identically across every occurrence in both curricula, per the baseline’s explicit “same rendering of Romans 10:9-10… verbatim consistent” rule, now extended to Revelation’s confessional climax. |
| 11 | Romans 8:18-25 (creation’s groaning, eager expectation of liberation from bondage to decay) | Romans 8 | Revelation 21:1-5, Revelation 22:3 (no more curse) | High. These two passages are the Bible’s bookend statement on creation’s fate; teach explicitly as promise (Romans 8) and fulfillment (Revelation 21-22). Reuse অনৌবা (new) and শৰাপ্না লৈরোই (curse removed) with this Romans-Revelation bridge named in teaching notes. |
| 12 | 1 Corinthians 15:54-55 (quoting Isaiah 25:8, Hosea 13:14: “death is swallowed up in victory… O Death, where is your sting?”) | Not in Romans itself, but shares Paul’s resurrection-victory vocabulary with Romans 6, 8 | Revelation 20:14, Revelation 21:4 (quoting Isaiah 25:8 directly: “he will wipe away every tear… death shall be no more”) | Critical. সিবা (death) must be rendered consistently; the Isaiah 25:8 quotation at 21:4 should be flagged as the fulfilled counterpart to 1 Corinthians 15’s resurrection-victory declaration, both grounded in the same Isaiah text. |
Part 2: Cross-Reference Matrix by Chapter
Chapter 1
| Passage | Theme | Related Character | OT/NT Connection | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Revelation 1:5 | Return and Reign of Christ; Davidic Covenant | Jesus Christ | Psalm 89:27 (“the firstborn, the highest of the kings of the earth”) | Reuse ক্রিস্তো / জিসু exactly; “firstborn” language must not be read as implying Christ was created or ranked among other sons — clarify as resurrection-preeminence, consistent with Romans 8:29’s “firstborn among many brothers.” |
| Revelation 1:7 | Return and Reign of Christ; Judgment | Jesus Christ; “those who pierced him” | Daniel 7:13 (coming with the clouds); Zechariah 12:10 (they will look on him whom they have pierced) | High. Must be taught as a literal, visible, historical Second Coming — not a periodic mystical vision-appearance such as devotees describe experiencing of Krishna through Ras Lila reenactment or darshan. |
| Revelation 1:8 | Sovereignty of God over History | God (the Lord God) | Isaiah 44:6, Isaiah 48:12 (“I am the first and I am the last”) | Medium. Reuse আলফা অমসুং ওমেগা; footnote the Isaiah background so readers see this as YHWH’s own self-designation now applied to Christ, grounding Deity of Christ doctrine. |
| Revelation 1:12-16 | Deity of Christ; Humanity of Christ | Jesus Christ (“one like a son of man”) | Daniel 7:9-14; Daniel 10:5-6; Ezekiel 1:26-28 | Critical. Reuse মীওইগী মচানুপা (Son of Man); this composite vision must be taught as the glorified, divine-and-human Christ — not one figure among several apocalyptic angelic/deity visions in comparative literature. |
| Revelation 1:6 | Church as Bride of Christ (corporate identity); Worship of the Lamb | The church | Exodus 19:6 (“a kingdom of priests”) | Medium. Ties directly to Romans 12:1 (“present your bodies as a living sacrifice”) — corporate priestly identity of all believers, not a specialist priestly class paralleling a maiba/maibi ritual office. |
| Revelation 1:17-18 | Assurance of God’s Final Victory over Evil; Resurrection of Christ | Jesus Christ | Isaiah 44:6 (first and last); Isaiah 41:4 | Critical. Reuse সিবদগী হিংজত-লকপা (resurrection, Critical) and “keys of Death and Hades” per 07_semantic_analysis.md; never পুনর্জন্ম. |
Chapters 2-3 (Letters to the Seven Churches)
| Passage | Theme | Related Character | OT/NT Connection | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Revelation 2:7 | New Heaven and New Earth; Perseverance | The overcomer; Eden | Genesis 2:9; Genesis 3:22-24 (exile from the tree of life) | High. হিংবগী উপাল (tree of life) — teach as Eden’s promise restored to the overcomer, distinct from an Umang Lai sacred grove tree associated with a nature-deity. |
| Revelation 2:17 | Perseverance; Assurance | The overcomer | Exodus 16:1-36 (hidden manna) | Medium. Typological: God’s own hidden provision for his faithful people, echoing wilderness provision, not a magical talisman. |
| Revelation 2:26-27 | Return and Reign of Christ; Perseverance | The overcomer | Psalm 2:8-9 (direct quotation, “rule them with a rod of iron”) | Critical. See Part 1, Rule 4; consistent Davidic-messianic rendering required across ch.2, ch.12, ch.19. |
| Revelation 3:7 | Davidic Covenant; Lordship of Christ | Jesus Christ | Isaiah 22:22 (“the key of the house of David”) | High. Reuse দাউদ (David) exactly; teach as Christ’s sole authority to open/shut access to God’s kingdom. |
| Revelation 3:12 | New Heaven and New Earth; Church as Bride | The overcomer; New Jerusalem | Ezekiel 48:35 (“the LORD is there” as the city’s name) | Medium. First mention of New Jerusalem; reuse অনৌবা জেরুসালেম exactly, consistent with ch.21 rendering. |
| Revelation 3:14 | Deity of Christ | Jesus Christ (“the Amen, the faithful and true witness”) | Isaiah 65:16 (“the God of truth/amen”); cf. Proverbs 8:22-30 (wisdom as beginning of creation, typological background for “beginning of God’s creation”) | High. “Beginning of God’s creation” must not be mistranslated as “the first created being” (an Arian-adjacent misreading); it means the source/origin of creation, consistent with Deity of Christ doctrine. |
| Revelation 3:19 | Perseverance | Jesus Christ | Proverbs 3:11-12 (direct quotation, discipline of those he loves) | Low. |
Chapter 4
| Passage | Theme | Related Character | OT/NT Connection | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Revelation 4:2-3 | Sovereignty of God over History; Worship of the Lamb | God the Father (the One on the throne) | Ezekiel 1:26-28; Isaiah 6:1; Daniel 7:9 | High. Reuse ফম্বল (throne, High); typological continuity of the divine throne-room vision across three OT prophets, now consummated. |
| Revelation 4:8 | Worship of the Lamb; Holiness of God | Four living creatures | Isaiah 6:3 (direct quotation, “Holy, holy, holy”) | High. Reuse অসেংবা exactly three times per the baseline entry; this is the clearest OT-quotation anchor for the doctrine of God’s total, unshared holiness. |
| Revelation 4:9-11 | Worship of the Lamb; Sovereignty of God | Twenty-four elders | Typological echo of 1 Chronicles 24:1-19 (24 priestly divisions); doxological pattern of Psalm 96, Psalm 148 | Medium. Elders casting crowns before the throne — worship modeled as total, voluntary self-abasement before God alone; contrast implicitly with any devotional crown-offering ritual before a Krishna image. |
Chapter 5
| Passage | Theme | Related Character | OT/NT Connection | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Revelation 5:5 | Messianic Promise; Davidic Covenant | Jesus Christ (“Lion of the tribe of Judah, Root of David”) | Genesis 49:9-10 (Judah’s scepter); Isaiah 11:1,10 (root of Jesse) | Critical. Reuse ক্রিস্তো and দাউদগী চা-চাহি exactly; this is the clearest single verse joining Messianic Promise and Davidic Covenant doctrines. |
| Revelation 5:6 | Worship of the Lamb; Christ’s atonement | Jesus Christ (the Lamb, as though slain) | Isaiah 53:7 (led like a lamb to the slaughter); Exodus 12:1-13 (Passover lamb); Genesis 22:8,13 (the ram/lamb provided) | Critical. Reuse য়াওমচা (Lamb) and হাত্খ্রবা (slain) exactly; the paradox of Lion/Lamb (conquering by being slain) must be preserved, not resolved into a triumphalist-only image. |
| Revelation 5:9-10 | Universal Scope of the Gospel; Unity of Jews and Gentiles | The redeemed multitude | Exodus 19:6 (kingdom of priests); typological echo of Psalm 96:1, Psalm 98:1 (“new song”) | High. Direct parallel to Romans 3:29-30 and Romans 15:8-12 (Jew/Gentile unity); reuse অতোপ্পা ফুরুপ (Gentiles/nations) exactly. |
| Revelation 5:12-13 | Worship of the Lamb | The Lamb; all creation | Doxological parallel to Romans 11:36 (“to him be glory forever”) | High. Keep মতিক চাউবা (glory) consistent with the Romans 11:36 doxology rendering. |
Chapter 6
| Passage | Theme | Related Character | OT/NT Connection | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Revelation 6:2-8 | Sovereignty of God over History; Judgment of the Wicked | Four horsemen | Zechariah 1:8-11, Zechariah 6:1-8 (four chariots/horses of divine patrol) | Medium. Typological: God’s sovereign dispatch of historical judgment-agents, not autonomous cosmic forces; teach with Symbolic and Apocalyptic Interpretation caution against literal date-matching. |
| Revelation 6:12-14 | Judgment of the Wicked | Cosmic upheaval | Isaiah 13:10, Isaiah 34:4, Joel 2:31, Ezekiel 32:7-8 (Day of the LORD cosmic-collapse imagery) | Medium. Standard “Day of the Lord” prophetic idiom; not a literal astronomy prediction. |
| Revelation 6:16-17 | Judgment of the Wicked | The wicked; kings of the earth | Hosea 10:8 (also quoted at Luke 23:30) | High. “Wrath of the one on the throne” — reuse ফম্বল (throne) and consistent wrath vocabulary from ch.14,16,19. |
Chapter 7
| Passage | Theme | Related Character | OT/NT Connection | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Revelation 7:1-8 | Sovereignty of God over History; Vindication of the Saints | The 144,000 (sealed) | Ezekiel 9:4-6 (mark on the foreheads of the faithful before judgment); typological echo of Exodus 12:1-13 (blood mark protecting from the destroyer) | Medium. চাপ চাংবা (sealed) — teach as God’s ownership-and-protection mark, contrasted later with the beast’s mark (ch.13); parallel structure to the Passover marking, not a magical ward. |
| Revelation 7:9 | Universal Scope of the Gospel; Unity of Jews and Gentiles | The great multitude | Genesis 12:3 (all nations blessed through Abraham); Isaiah 49:6 (light to the nations) | Critical. Directly parallels Romans 10:12-13, 15:8-12; must be taught, per the baseline’s explicit caution, as gospel unity across all peoples rather than mapped onto Manipur’s own contemporary inter-community relations. |
| Revelation 7:16-17 | New Heaven and New Earth; Assurance | The redeemed multitude; the Lamb as shepherd | Isaiah 49:10 (no hunger/thirst); Isaiah 25:8 (wipe away every tear); Psalm 23:1-2 (shepherd imagery) | High. This verse anticipates 21:4 verbatim; per the theological consistency rules, both must be rendered identically. |
Chapters 8-9 (Trumpets)
| Passage | Theme | Related Character | OT/NT Connection | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Revelation 8:5 | Judgment of the Wicked | An angel | Ezekiel 10:2 (coals of fire scattered) | Medium. |
| Revelation 8:7-12 | Sovereignty of God over History; Judgment | Trumpet judgments | Exodus 7:14-10:29 (Egyptian plagues: hail and fire, water to blood, darkness) | High. Typological “new Exodus” judgment pattern — God’s sovereignty over history displayed through a second, escalated plague-sequence; teach the Exodus typology explicitly. |
| Revelation 9:1-11 | Judgment of the Wicked; Symbolic Interpretation | Locusts; Abaddon/Apollyon | Exodus 10:1-20 (locust plague); Joel 1:2-2:11 (locust army as Day-of-the-Lord judgment) | Medium. Symbolic imagery of destructive judgment operating within bounded divine permission (cf. 07_semantic_analysis.md ch.9); not literal entomology. |
| Revelation 9:20-21 | Worship of the Lamb (negative pole: idolatry); Judgment | Unrepentant humanity | Psalm 115:4-7, Psalm 135:15-17 (idols that cannot see/hear/walk); Daniel 5:23 | Critical. Reuse মীওই শাবা লাই / লাই খুরুমবা মীওই (idol/idolater, Critical) with the pastoral caution established in 08_core_glossary.md #61 — teach the biblical critique of manufactured, powerless idols as a general principle, never as a direct verdict on any specific living Manipuri devotional object or practice. |
Chapter 10
| Passage | Theme | Related Character | OT/NT Connection | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Revelation 10:1-2 | Sovereignty of God over History | A mighty angel | Ezekiel 1:26-28 (rainbow/cloud imagery); Daniel 12:7 (oath, “time, times, and half a time”) | Medium. |
| Revelation 10:9-11 | Inspiration of Scripture; Symbolic and Apocalyptic Interpretation | John; the angel | Ezekiel 2:8-3:3 (direct typological reuse: eating the scroll, sweet then bitter) | High. Prophetic commissioning pattern; ties to Inspiration of Scripture doctrine (baseline) and to John’s own prophetic office (see ch.1 apokalypsis entry). |
Chapter 11
| Passage | Theme | Related Character | OT/NT Connection | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Revelation 11:1-2 | Symbolic and Apocalyptic Interpretation | John; the temple | Ezekiel 40:1-42:20 (measuring the temple); Zechariah 2:1-5 (measuring line over Jerusalem) | Medium. |
| Revelation 11:3-6 | Perseverance and Faithful Witness under Persecution | The two witnesses | Typological composite: 1 Kings 17:1 (Elijah shuts the sky); Exodus 7:14-24 (Moses turns water to blood); Zechariah 4:1-14 (two olive trees/lampstands) | Critical. সাক্ষী অনি (two witnesses) — the Moses/Elijah typological pattern must be named explicitly in teaching notes: faithful prophetic witness even to death, vindicated by God, is the pattern for the whole church’s testimony under persecution. |
| Revelation 11:11 | Resurrection; Vindication of the Saints | The two witnesses | Ezekiel 37:5,10 (breath enters the dry bones, they stand) | Critical. Reuse সিবদগী হিংজত-লকপা exactly; never পুনর্জন্ম. |
| Revelation 11:15 | Return and Reign of Christ; Sovereignty of God over History | Christ; God | Daniel 2:44, Daniel 7:14 (an everlasting kingdom); Exodus 15:18 (“the LORD reigns forever”) | Critical. See 07_semantic_analysis.md ch.11 note; reuse তেংবাং মপুগী লৈপাক and মপু ইবুংগো exactly — the book’s thematic turning point toward Christ’s reign. |
| Revelation 11:19 | Davidic Covenant; New Heaven and New Earth | — | Exodus 25:10-22 (ark of the covenant) | Medium. Reuse ৱারেপ্পা (covenant, High) exactly. |
Chapter 12
| Passage | Theme | Related Character | OT/NT Connection | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Revelation 12:1 | Sovereignty of God over History; typology of God’s covenant people | The woman (Israel/the covenant community) | Genesis 37:9-10 (Joseph’s dream: sun, moon, eleven stars) | Medium. Typological figure for the messianic covenant community, not a specific individual; avoid conflation with any goddess-figure from either live tradition. |
| Revelation 12:4 | Judgment of the Wicked; Sovereignty of God | The dragon | Daniel 8:10 (the little horn casts down stars) | High. |
| Revelation 12:5 | Messianic Promise; Return and Reign of Christ | The male child (Christ) | Psalm 2:9 (direct quotation, rod of iron); Isaiah 66:7 (birth imagery) | Critical. See Part 1, Rule 4. |
| Revelation 12:9 | Sovereignty of God over History; Assurance of Final Victory over Evil | The dragon (Satan) | Genesis 3:1,14-15 (the serpent; the protoevangelium) | Critical — the book’s single highest-stakes typological identification. See Part 1, Rule 1, and 07_semantic_analysis.md ch.12. The deliberate transliteration ড্রাগন must be explained in teaching materials as naming this figure without importing or contradicting any claim about Pakhangba, the ancestral serpent-deity of Meitei royal tradition. |
| Revelation 12:10 | Assurance of Final Victory over Evil | The accuser (Satan) | Job 1:6-12, Job 2:1-7; Zechariah 3:1-2 | High. |
| Revelation 12:11 | Perseverance and Faithful Witness under Persecution | The believers (“they”) | Thematic fulfillment of Genesis 3:15 alongside direct dependence on the Lamb’s blood and the believers’ own testimony | Critical. See 07_semantic_analysis.md ch.12 note: “the single most important sentence in the book” for Perseverance doctrine. |
| Revelation 12:14 | Sovereignty of God over History (providential protection) | The woman | Exodus 19:4 (“I bore you on eagles’ wings”); Daniel 7:25, Daniel 12:7 (time, times, half a time) | Medium. Typological continuity with Exodus wilderness-protection pattern. |
Chapter 13
| Passage | Theme | Related Character | OT/NT Connection | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Revelation 13:1-2 | Judgment of the Wicked; Symbolic Interpretation | The beast from the sea | Daniel 7:2-7 (direct typological composite: lion, bear, leopard beasts) | Critical. শা চাউবা (beast) must be taught as symbolic of God-opposing worldly power in the Daniel 7 tradition, never mapped onto a specific living nation or ethnic community, per the sensitivity already flagged in 08_core_glossary.md #38. |
| Revelation 13:5 | Perseverance and Faithful Witness under Persecution | The beast | Daniel 7:25, Daniel 12:7 (forty-two months / time, times, half a time) | High. |
| Revelation 13:11 | Symbolic and Apocalyptic Interpretation; Worship of the Lamb (counterfeit) | The beast from the earth (false prophet) | Counterfeit-typology of the true Lamb (two horns “like a lamb,” but speaks like the dragon) | High. This is a deliberate ironic echo of য়াওমচা (Lamb); translators must ensure the parody is perceptible without confusing the two figures in Manipuri rendering. |
Chapter 14
| Passage | Theme | Related Character | OT/NT Connection | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Revelation 14:8 | Judgment of the Wicked | Babylon (personified) | Isaiah 21:9, Jeremiah 51:8 (direct quotation, “Fallen, fallen is Babylon”) | High. |
| Revelation 14:10 | Judgment of the Wicked | The wicked | Genesis 19:24 (fire and sulfur on Sodom/Gomorrah); Psalm 75:8 (cup of wrath); Isaiah 51:17 | Critical. Reuse মেইগী পাৎ (lake of fire) exactly for the parallel imagery at 21:8; teach as final, not purgative. |
| Revelation 14:14-16 | Judgment of the Wicked | One like a son of man | Joel 3:13 (direct allusion, “put in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe”) | High. |
| Revelation 14:19-20 | Judgment of the Wicked | An angel | Isaiah 63:1-6 (treading the winepress in wrath); Joel 3:13 | High. |
Chapter 15
| Passage | Theme | Related Character | OT/NT Connection | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Revelation 15:3-4 | Sovereignty of God over History; Worship of the Lamb | The victors over the beast | Exodus 15:1-18 (direct typological reuse: Song of Moses); Psalm 111:2, Psalm 86:9-10, Jeremiah 10:7 (composite quotation) | High. The “Song of Moses and of the Lamb” (see 07_semantic_analysis.md ch.15) joins Old and New Covenant deliverance into a single act of worship — teach the Exodus-to-Revelation typological arc explicitly. |
Chapter 16
| Passage | Theme | Related Character | OT/NT Connection | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Revelation 16:1 | Judgment of the Wicked | Seven angels (bowls) | Ezekiel 7:1-27; Zephaniah 1:14-18 (Day of the LORD wrath poured out) | Medium. |
| Revelation 16:13 | Symbolic and Apocalyptic Interpretation | Unclean spirits (like frogs) | Exodus 8:1-15 (frog plague) | Medium. |
| Revelation 16:16 | Symbolic and Apocalyptic Interpretation; Sovereignty of God over History | — (place name: Armageddon) | Judges 5:19 (Megiddo); 2 Kings 23:29 (Josiah’s death at Megiddo) | Medium. Reuse আর্মাগেদন exactly (see 08_core_glossary.md #64); teach as symbolic name for certain divine victory, not a literal-geography prediction. |
| Revelation 16:19 | Judgment of the Wicked | Babylon | Jeremiah 25:15-17, Jeremiah 51:7 (cup of wrath given to the nations) | High. |
Chapter 17
| Passage | Theme | Related Character | OT/NT Connection | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Revelation 17:1-5 | Judgment of the Wicked | The great harlot (Babylon) | Isaiah 23:15-17 (Tyre as harlot); Ezekiel 16, Ezekiel 23 (covenant-unfaithfulness-as-harlotry imagery reapplied); Nahum 3:4 | High. See 07_semantic_analysis.md ch.17 note on gender-sensitive handling of the prophetic marital-unfaithfulness metaphor; teach as symbolic figure for a corrupt world-system, never a literal historical/contemporary identification. |
| Revelation 17:14 | Return and Reign of Christ; Lordship of Christ | The Lamb | Deuteronomy 10:17 (“God of gods and Lord of lords”); Daniel 2:47 | Critical. See Part 1, Rule 10; reuse মপু ইবুংগো and য়াওমচা exactly. |
Chapter 18
| Passage | Theme | Related Character | OT/NT Connection | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Revelation 18:2 | Judgment of the Wicked | Babylon | Isaiah 21:9, Jeremiah 51:8 | High. |
| Revelation 18:4 | Perseverance; Separation unto God’s Service | God’s people | Jeremiah 51:45, Jeremiah 50:8, Isaiah 48:20 (direct quotation, “Come out of her, my people”) | High. Ties to baseline Sanctification doctrine; teach as a call to holy separation from complicity in a corrupt world-system’s sin, not ethnic or communal separation. |
| Revelation 18:7-8 | Judgment of the Wicked | Babylon (personified queen) | Isaiah 47:7-9 (direct allusion, Babylon’s fall) | High. |
| Revelation 18:21-24 | Judgment of the Wicked | An angel; Babylon | Jeremiah 51:63-64 (Seraiah casts the scroll into the Euphrates, typological reuse); structural parallel to Ezekiel 26:1-28:19 (the lament over Tyre) | High. Chapter 18 as a whole is modeled structurally on Ezekiel’s Tyre dirge; this literary dependence should be named for translators handling the chapter’s lament-form. |
Chapter 19
| Passage | Theme | Related Character | OT/NT Connection | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Revelation 19:1-6 | Worship of the Lamb; Assurance of Final Victory | Heavenly multitude | Psalm 104:35, Psalm 106:1, Psalm 111:1, Psalm 113:1 (Hallelujah psalms) | Low. Reuse হাল্লেলুইয়া exactly. |
| Revelation 19:6 | Sovereignty of God over History; Return and Reign of Christ | God (the Lord God Almighty) | Psalm 93:1, Psalm 97:1, Psalm 99:1 (“the LORD reigns”) | Critical. Reuse পাংথোক্লবা তেংবাং মপু (Almighty) exactly. |
| Revelation 19:9 | Church as Bride of Christ | The Lamb; the bride | Isaiah 25:6 (feast on the mountain); Hosea 2:19-20 (marriage-covenant imagery); typological echo of Matthew 22:1-14 | Critical. See Part 1 and 07_semantic_analysis.md ch.19; requires the explicit Ras Lila-contrast note established at 21:2/19:9 in the core-passage analysis — the corporate church’s covenant marriage to Christ, not an individual devotee’s romantic-mystical union with a divine lover. |
| Revelation 19:11-16 | Return and Reign of Christ; Messianic Promise | Jesus Christ (rider on the white horse) | Isaiah 63:1-6 (garments stained from the winepress); Psalm 2:9 | Critical. |
| Revelation 19:15 | Messianic Promise | Jesus Christ | Isaiah 11:4 (“with the breath of his lips he shall kill the wicked”); Isaiah 49:2 | Critical. |
| Revelation 19:17-18 | Judgment of the Wicked | Birds; the wicked kings | Ezekiel 39:17-20 (direct typological reuse: the great supper, birds/beasts feast on the defeated) | High. |
Chapter 20
| Passage | Theme | Related Character | OT/NT Connection | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Revelation 20:1-3 | Sovereignty of God over History; Assurance of Final Victory | The dragon (Satan), bound | Isaiah 24:21-22 (the host of heaven and kings of the earth shut up in prison) | Critical. Reuse ড্রাগন exactly (see Part 1, Rule 1). |
| Revelation 20:4 | Judgment of the Wicked; Vindication of the Saints | The martyrs (enthroned) | Daniel 7:9,22,27 (thrones set; judgment given to the saints) | High. |
| Revelation 20:8 | Symbolic and Apocalyptic Interpretation; Judgment of the Wicked | Gog and Magog | Ezekiel 38:1-39:29 (typological reuse — a name/pattern reapplied eschatologically, not a claim of identical historical referent) | High. Requires explicit interpretive-method teaching: symbolic reuse of a historical enemy-pattern name for the final rebellion, not a literal geographic identification. |
| Revelation 20:11 | Judgment of the Wicked | God (on the great white throne) | Daniel 7:9-10 (the Ancient of Days; books opened); Psalm 102:25-26 | High. |
| Revelation 20:12 | Judgment of the Wicked; Universal Human Accountability | The dead, judged | Daniel 7:10, Daniel 12:1 (names written in the book); Psalm 69:28 | High. Reuse baseline’s Universal Human Accountability doctrine note; parallel to Romans 2:6 (“he will render to each according to his works”). |
| Revelation 20:14 | Assurance of Final Victory over Evil; Resurrection | Death and Hades | Hosea 13:14 (also quoted directly at 1 Corinthians 15:55) | Critical. See Part 1, Rule 12; সিবা (death) and অনিশুবা সিবা (second death) rendered exactly per baseline convention. |
Chapter 21 (verses 9-27, beyond the core passage)
Revelation 21:1-8 receives its own full verse-by-verse cross-reference treatment integrated above within Parts 1-2 (see 21:1,3,4,6,7 entries embedded in Part 1’s consistency rules and cited throughout this matrix). The remainder of the chapter is treated here.
| Passage | Theme | Related Character | OT/NT Connection | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Revelation 21:9-14 | Church as Bride of Christ; Unity of Jews and Gentiles | The bride; the twelve tribes; the twelve apostles | Ezekiel 48:30-35 (twelve gates named for the tribes); Isaiah 54:11-12 (city adorned with jewels); Exodus 28:15-21 (twelve tribal stones on the high priest’s breastpiece) | High. Reuse ইস্রায়েল and তবিদগী থাবিরকপা exactly; architectural symbolism uniting Old and New Covenant peoples of God permanently — direct extension of Romans 11’s olive-tree unity image. |
| Revelation 21:19-21 | New Heaven and New Earth | — (foundation stones) | Isaiah 54:11-12; Exodus 28:17-20; Ezekiel 28:13 (Eden’s precious stones) | Medium. |
| Revelation 21:22-23 | New Heaven and New Earth; Deity of Christ | God; the Lamb | Isaiah 60:19-20 (direct quotation, “the LORD will be your everlasting light”) | High. Reuse মতিক চাউবা (glory) exactly; avoid Ras Lila radiance-staging metaphors per baseline caution. |
| Revelation 21:24-26 | Universal Scope of the Gospel | The nations; kings of the earth | Isaiah 60:3,5,11 (nations come to your light, kings to your dawn) | High. |
| Revelation 21:27 | Sanctification; Judgment of the Wicked | Book of Life | Isaiah 52:1 (the unclean/uncircumcised shall not enter) | High. Reuse হিংবগী লাইরিক (book of life) exactly. |
Chapter 22
| Passage | Theme | Related Character | OT/NT Connection | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Revelation 22:1-2 | New Heaven and New Earth | The river; the tree of life | Ezekiel 47:1-12 (direct typological reuse: river from the temple, trees for healing); Genesis 2:9-10 (Eden’s river and tree); Psalm 46:4; Zechariah 14:8 | Critical. This is the single largest structural typological convergence in the whole book — Eden restored and Ezekiel’s temple-vision fulfilled together. Reuse হিংবগী ইশিং and হিংবগী উপাল exactly. |
| Revelation 22:3 | New Heaven and New Earth; Assurance of Final Victory over Evil | — | Genesis 3:17-19 (the curse); Zechariah 14:11 | High. Direct reversal typology of the Fall; reuse শৰাপ্না লৈরোই exactly. |
| Revelation 22:4 | Worship of the Lamb; Assurance | The redeemed | Exodus 33:20 (no one may see my face and live — now reversed/fulfilled); Psalm 17:15; typological echo of Matthew 5:8 | Critical. |

| Revelation 22:16 | Messianic Promise; Davidic Covenant | Jesus Christ | Isaiah 11:1,10 (root of Jesse); Numbers 24:17 (“a star shall come out of Jacob”) | Critical. Reuse দাউদগী চা-চাহি exactly. |
| Revelation 22:17 | Church as Bride of Christ | The Spirit; the Bride | Isaiah 55:1 (direct quotation, “come… without price”) | Critical. Climactic Bride-of-Christ invitation; reuse নুপী লৌগদবী root and মথৌ তাদনা (freely) exactly, tying Grace and Bride doctrines together at the book’s close. |
| Revelation 22:18-19 | Inspiration of Scripture | John; the book itself | Deuteronomy 4:2, Deuteronomy 12:32 (direct quotation formula, “do not add… do not take away”) | Critical. Reuse baseline’s Inspiration of Scripture doctrine note in full, including the 1729 Puya Meithaba sensitivity already flagged; this is Scripture’s own strongest self-authenticating seal in the whole canon. |
| Revelation 22:20 | Return and Reign of Christ | Jesus Christ; the church | Structural parallel to 1 Corinthians 16:22 (“Marana tha” — “Our Lord, come!”) | Critical. See Part 1, Rule 10; render জিসু, লাক্কো মপু ইবুংগো identically wherever it recurs across all curriculum documents. |

Part 5: Parallels to Romans — Curriculum Cross-Link Table
| Romans Doctrine/Passage | Revelation Parallel/Fulfillment | Teaching Note |
|---|---|---|
| Romans 1:16-17 (gospel, righteousness by faith — thesis) | Revelation 14:6 (eternal gospel proclaimed); Revelation 21:7 (faith-sustained overcomer inherits) | The gospel proclaimed in Romans reaches its final proclamation and vindication in Revelation; reuse নুংঙাইবগী পাউ and থাজবা exactly. |
| Romans 3:23-26 (universal sin; propitiation in Christ’s blood) | Revelation 5:9, 7:14 (redeemed/washed by the Lamb’s blood) | Same atonement logic, now depicted as accomplished and celebrated in heaven. |
| Romans 4 (Abraham; imputed righteousness apart from works) | Revelation 19:8 (the bride’s “righteous deeds”) | See Part 1, Rule 8 — requires an explicit distinguishing translator note. |
| Romans 5:12-21 (Adam/Christ; death reigns / grace reigns) | Revelation 20:14, 21:4 (death itself abolished) | Romans’ “grace reigns through righteousness to eternal life” (Romans 5:21) finds its concrete, historical fulfillment in Revelation’s abolition of death. |
| Romans 6 (union with Christ in death/resurrection) | Revelation 20:4-6 (the first resurrection; reigning with Christ) | Parallel resurrection-life logic; reuse সিবদগী হিংজত-লকপা exactly. |
| Romans 8:14-17 (adoption; Abba, Father; fellow heirs) | Revelation 21:7 (covenant sonship formula fulfilled) | See Part 1, Rule 5 — the clearest single cross-curriculum doctrinal bridge in the two books. |
| Romans 8:18-25 (creation’s groaning; hope of glory) | Revelation 21:1-5, 22:3 (new creation; no more curse) | See Part 1, Rule 11. |
| Romans 8:28-39 (nothing can separate; more than conquerors) | Revelation 12:11 (they overcame); Revelation 21:7 (the one who conquers) | Both anchor the Assurance of God’s Final Victory over Evil doctrine; reuse ন্গম্বা (overcome) exactly. |
| Romans 9-11 (Israel, Gentiles, the olive tree, God’s faithfulness to his promises) | Revelation 7:4-9 (144,000 of Israel and the innumerable multitude of every nation); Revelation 21:12-14 (twelve tribes, twelve apostles) | Unity of Jews and Gentiles doctrine given final architectural and numerical expression. |
| Romans 10:9-10 (“Jesus is Lord” confession) | Revelation 19:16, 22:20 | See Part 1, Rule 10 — verbatim consistency required. |
| Romans 12:1-2 (living sacrifice; true worship) | Revelation 4-5, 7, 19 (heavenly worship scenes); Revelation 19:10, 22:8-9 (worship redirected to God alone) | Romans’ call to bodily, ethical worship finds its consummation-model in Revelation’s unceasing heavenly worship of God/the Lamb alone. |
| Romans 13:1-7 (submission to governing authorities) | Revelation 13 (the beast’s counterfeit, God-opposing authority) | Teach the two passages together carefully: ordinary civil authority (Romans 13) versus the eschatological beast’s idolatrous, persecuting authority (Revelation 13) are not equated; the latter is the limit-case where allegiance to Christ overrides submission to human authority. |
| Romans 16:20 (Satan crushed underfoot) | Revelation 12, 20 (the dragon’s defeat and final destruction) | See Part 1, Rule 1 — the single most important cross-curriculum theological and terminological thread in the whole Bible-history arc for a Manipuri audience. |
