Executive Summary

Executive Summary — Revelation → Manipuri Language Package

Why it matters

Revelation is the highest doctrinal-risk book this Manipuri Language Package has yet processed. It extends, and must never contradict, the Romans baseline — but its apocalyptic genre (thrones, a worshiped Lamb, a dragon, a bride, a New Jerusalem) puts it in far more sustained, far more concentrated contact with Manipur’s two live, currently practiced religious traditions — Sanamahism (Sanamahi, Pakhangba the ancestral serpent-deity, Umang Lai, Lai Haraoba) and Gaudiya Vaishnavism (Krishna-Radha devotion, Ras Lila, bhakti, avatar theology) — than Romans’ didactic exposition ever did. Getting this package right protects a small, currently vulnerable Manipuri Christian minority from having Revelation’s central images — the Lamb, the Bride, the Dragon, the Throne, the King of kings — heard as one more instance of an already-familiar local category rather than as the categorically distinct claims Revelation makes.

Key findings

  • 30 of 32 tracked doctrines require human theologian review (17 Critical, 13 High), versus 1 requiring native-speaker review and 1 automated-only — a materially heavier theologian-review burden than Romans.
  • 69 of 87 catalogued terms (26 Critical + 43 High) require theologian-level enforcement, spanning both terms inherited exactly from the Romans baseline (God, Jesus, Lord, grace, salvation, resurrection, incarnation, son of God) and 54 new terms this book alone introduces (Lamb, Dragon, Beast, Bride, Marriage Supper of the Lamb, Throne, Worship, Almighty, Seven Spirits of God, Second Death, Lake of Fire, Millennium, King of Kings and Lord of Lords, and more).
  • Two entirely new Critical-risk collision points, absent from Romans, dominate this book: (1) the Dragon (δράκων), resolved by deliberate transliteration (ড্রাগন) to avoid identification with Pakhangba, the ancestral serpent-deity of historic Meitei kingship; and (2) the Bride of Christ / Marriage Supper of the Lamb, which risks direct absorption into the live, prestigious, UNESCO-recognized Ras Lila Radha-Krishna bridal-devotional paradigm.
  • Worship (προσκυνέω/খুরুম্জবা) is the single most frequently recurring collision-prone term in the whole curriculum (20+ occurrences), requiring per-occurrence object-checking against Vaishnava mūrti-prostration and Umang Lai reverence at Lai Haraoba.
  • Nine coined terms carry unresolved confirmation risk and are flagged for priority theologian/native-speaker sign-off before Phase 2 deployment: Lamb, Dragon, Bride, Almighty, Seven Spirits of God, Idol/Idolater, King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Marriage Supper of the Lamb, and the Millennium.
  • The core passage (Revelation 21:1-8) concentrates five Critical doctrines in eight verses — New Heaven and New Earth, Church as Bride, Grace, Adoption, Judgment of the Wicked — and must be processed and reviewed as a single interlocking block, not segment-by-segment.

Risks

  • Cyclical-cosmology collision: “new heaven and new earth” and “a thousand years” risk silent reabsorption into the live Hindu cosmological cycle of repeating kalpas/yugas actively taught within Manipuri Vaishnavism, unless every occurrence carries an explicit “one-time, linear, final” teaching note.
  • Idolatry pastoral risk: the book’s idol/idolater vocabulary is the single most pastorally volatile term in the entire curriculum; any drift from principle-teaching toward naming a specific living Manipuri devotional practice risks real community harm, compounded by documented contemporary pressure on Meitei Christians in the current inter-community conflict context.
  • Royal-lineage collision: throne, King of Kings, and the Dragon all touch the same live cultural nerve — the Pakhangba-descent Meitei kingship tradition — and mishandling any one risks either an explosive Satan–Pakhangba identification or Christ’s kingship being heard as one more claim within, rather than categorically above, that dynastic tradition.
  • Rebirth/finality collision: Second Death and Lake of Fire must be taught as final and eternal against live naraka/karma-and-rebirth frameworks, the same collision class already flagged Critical for “resurrection” in the Romans baseline, now recurring in judgment-specific form.

Opportunities

  • Revelation’s own internal teaching tools — the angel’s explicit refusal of worship (19:10; 22:8-9) and the “faithful and true” self-description of God (21:5) — supply textually-grounded, non-confrontational teaching contrasts for idolatry and false-worship risk, avoiding the need for direct polemic against any named living tradition.
  • The “seed of David”/throne-resonance precedent already established in the Romans baseline gives this package a proven pattern (teach as cosmic-not-dynastic) for handling Revelation’s much heavier throne, kingship, and Davidic-lineage imagery.
  • The dual-tradition documentation approach pioneered in the Romans baseline — naming Sanamahism and Vaishnavism as two distinct, live systems rather than one Hindu-majority backdrop — scales directly to Revelation’s denser symbolic vocabulary and should be highlighted as a distinguishing strength of this Language Package.
  1. Route all 30 Critical/High doctrines and all 69 Critical/High terms to human theologian review before Phase 2 batch translation begins; budget reviewer capacity accordingly, as this exceeds the Romans baseline’s review load.
  2. Prioritize theologian/native-speaker confirmation of the nine flagged provisional coinages (Lamb, Dragon, Bride, Almighty, Seven Spirits of God, Idol/Idolater, King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Marriage Supper of the Lamb, Millennium) before any of these terms propagate across the full 22-chapter batch.
  3. Process Revelation 21:1-8 as a single reviewed block, not parallelized segment-by-segment, given its five-Critical-doctrine concentration.
  4. Enforce the extended forbidden-substitution list (12_ai_translation_requirements.md) at validation for every segment, with particular attention to the worship object-check and the no-native-serpent-word rule for Dragon.
  5. Brief all reviewers explicitly on the dual-tradition framework (Sanamahism and Vaishnavism as distinct live systems) before assigning Revelation review work, since a reviewer briefed only on one tradition will miss the other’s specific collision points.
