Cross-Reference Analysis

09 Cross-Reference Analysis — Hebrews (English → Mandarin)

Scope and Method

This document catalogs every Old Testament quotation and allusion in Hebrews 1–13, every messianic reference and typological pattern, and every point of contact with the Romans curriculum already governed by the baseline Language Package. Citations are normalized to [Book] [Chapter]:[Verse(s)] (e.g. Genesis 15:6, Habakkuk 2:4, Hebrews 9:11-28) so that Phase 2 tooling can machine-match references across documents regardless of source language. Mandarin book-name equivalents for citation display are given in the reference table at the end of this document, extending the set already fixed in the baseline 12_ai_translation_requirements.md.

Governing principle: where a quotation or theme already carries an established Mandarin rendering from the Romans baseline (e.g. 义人必因信得生 for Habakkuk 2:4, quoted in both Romans 1:17 and Hebrews 10:38), that rendering is reused exactly, never re-derived. Where Hebrews quotes the same OT text independently but not previously covered by the Romans baseline, a new required rendering is proposed and flagged for translation memory addition per the Step 2 process referenced in 08_core_glossary.md.

Part 1 — Direct Old Testament Quotation Matrix

Hebrews PassageOT SourceTheme/DoctrineRelated Character(s)OT→NT ConnectionTranslation Sensitivity
Hebrews 1:5aPsalm 2:7Sonship of Christ; Deity of ChristDavid (psalmist); ChristRoyal enthronement psalm applied to the Son’s eternal, unique sonshipCritical. “Today I have begotten you” (今日已经生你) must never suggest a temporal origin of the Son (an Arian-adjacent misreading); teach as declarative/enthronement language paired with established 神的儿子.
Hebrews 1:5b2 Samuel 7:14Davidic Covenant; Sonship of ChristDavid, Solomon (original referent); Christ (ultimate referent)Davidic father-son covenant promise fulfilled ultimately in ChristHigh. Reinforce established 儿子的名分/父 caution against 过继 (clan-adoption) framing; Christ’s sonship here is unique, not an installed heir.
Hebrews 1:6Deuteronomy 32:43 (LXX) / Psalm 97:7Superiority over AngelsAngelsAngels commanded to worship the divine SonCritical. 天使 must be shown in a posture of worship (敬拜) toward Christ, never as co-equal or petitionable beings.
Hebrews 1:7Psalm 104:4Superiority over AngelsAngelsAngels described as created, functional servants (“winds,” “flames”)High. Reinforces angels’ created, servant nature; avoid conflation with folk nature-spirits.
Hebrews 1:8-9Psalm 45:6-7Deity of ChristThe Davidic king; ultimately ChristDirect scriptural vocative address of the Son as “God”Critical. 神啊,你的宝座是永永远远的 must retain the vocative address of the Son as 神; never soften to royal metaphor.
Hebrews 1:10-12Psalm 102:25-27Deity of Christ; CreationYHWH (original referent); ChristDivine, unchanging eternity and creatorship attributed directly to the SonCritical. Guards against reading Christ as a created observer of creation rather than its Creator/sustainer (extends 神的护理 to Christ, per 08_core_glossary.md).
Hebrews 1:13Psalm 110:1Lordship of Christ; Christ’s SessionDavid (psalmist); Christ”Sit at my right hand” — most-cited OT text in the NT; grounds Christ’s exalted reign and intercessionCritical. Cross-curriculum link to Romans 8:34; render 坐在…右边 identically wherever echoed (see Part 4).
Hebrews 2:6-8Psalm 8:4-6Humanity of Christ”Son of man” (generic humanity; ultimately Christ)Christ’s incarnate humility and subsequent exaltation, fulfilling humanity’s intended dominionHigh. Keep the messianic and generic-humanity senses distinguishable; Hebrews exploits both in one quotation.
Hebrews 2:12Psalm 22:22Christ’s Solidarity with Believers; Christian FellowshipChrist, “brothers” (believers)Exalted Christ calls believers “brothers” and leads their worshipMedium. Connects to established 团契; reinforces corporate, not hierarchical-distant, fellowship.
Hebrews 2:13Isaiah 8:17-18Humanity/Sonship of Christ; AdoptionIsaiah; “the children” God gave himOT words placed in Christ’s mouth; “children given to me” links to adoption doctrineHigh. Reinforces established 儿子的名分/父; the children are believers.
Hebrews 3:2, 5Numbers 12:7 (allusion)Superiority over MosesMosesMoses faithful as a servant in God’s house; Christ faithful as Son over the houseCritical. Must not flatten the servant/Son hierarchy the passage establishes.
Hebrews 3:7-11; 3:15; 4:3; 4:5; 4:7Psalm 95:7-11Danger of Apostasy; RestThe wilderness generation”Today, if you hear his voice…” — the refrain structuring chs. 3-4’s warningCritical. Must render identically at all five occurrences (今日你们若听他的话,就不可硬着心); internal-Hebrews consistency mandatory.
Hebrews 4:4Genesis 2:2Perseverance and Assurance (Rest)God (Creator)God’s seventh-day rest as the pattern of the eschatological rest still openMedium. 安息 escalates typologically beyond a weekly Sabbath-keeping requirement.
Hebrews 5:5Psalm 2:7 (repeated)Sonship of Christ(see 1:5)Critical. Render identically to the 1:5 occurrence.
Hebrews 5:6; 6:20; 7:17; 7:21Psalm 110:4Christ as Great High Priest; Superiority over Levitical PriesthoodMelchizedek; Christ”A priest forever after the order of Melchizedek” — the anchor text for chs. 5-7Critical. Must render identically at all four occurrences; underlies 大祭司/长久不变的.
Hebrews 6:13-14Genesis 22:16-17Faith of OT Saints; Perseverance and AssuranceAbrahamGod’s self-sworn, unchangeable oath grounds assuranceHigh. Ties Abraham’s faith narrative to assurance doctrine; parallels Romans 4 (see Part 4).
Hebrews 7:1-2Genesis 14:17-20Superiority of Christ’s PriesthoodMelchizedek, AbrahamHistorical meeting providing the type Hebrews interprets typologicallyMedium. 麦基洗德 requires OT background; no Chinese cultural analogy exists — avoid conflation with a Daoist immortal-sage figure.
Hebrews 8:5Exodus 25:40New Covenant vs. Old; Tabernacle TypologyMosesEarthly tabernacle built to a heavenly “pattern”High. Reinforces 样式/影儿 illusion-vs-reality caution: a real heavenly archetype, not an unreal earthly shadow in a Buddhist metaphysical sense.
Hebrews 8:8-12Jeremiah 31:31-34New Covenant vs. Old (doctrinal center)Israel and Judah (original addressees); the ChurchOT’s own prophetic anticipation of a covenant unlike Sinai’s, fulfilled in ChristCritical. Fullest OT quotation in Hebrews; anchor for the 新约/前约 disambiguation (see Part 5).
Hebrews 9:20Exodus 24:8Once-for-All Atoning Sacrifice; New CovenantMoses”Blood of the covenant” — direct verbal echo of Christ’s Last Supper wordsCritical. 立约的血 must render identically here, at 10:29 and 13:20, and at future Gospel Last-Supper curricula.
Hebrews 10:5-7Psalm 40:6-8Once-for-All Atoning Sacrifice; Christ’s ObedienceThe Messiah (typologically David; ultimately Christ)Christ’s own words at his incarnation subordinate ritual sacrifice to personal obedienceHigh. Reinforces the 祭物 collision caution; the quotation itself relativizes the OT sacrificial system.
Hebrews 10:16-17Jeremiah 31:33-34 (repeated)New Covenant vs. Old(see 8:8-12)Critical. Render identically to the first occurrence.
Hebrews 10:28Deuteronomy 17:6 (allusion)Danger of Apostasy(legal background)Establishes covenant-breaking’s legal seriousness under Moses, escalated a fortioriLow.
Hebrews 10:30Deuteronomy 32:35-36Danger of ApostasyGod as Judge”Vengeance is mine, I will repay” — identical quotation to Romans 12:19Critical. See Part 4 for the 报应 consistency-and-disambiguation ruling.
Hebrews 10:37-38Habakkuk 2:3-4Faith; Perseverance”The righteous” (generic; the faithful believer)Same OT text underlying Romans 1:17’s thesis and Galatians 3:11Critical. See Part 4; identical clause required across curricula.
Hebrews 11:18Genesis 21:12Faith of OT SaintsAbraham, IsaacGrounds Abraham’s faith in offering Isaac (11:17-19)High. Connects to Genesis 15:6/Romans 4 Abraham paradigm; also typological link to resurrection (11:19).
Hebrews 12:5-6Proverbs 3:11-12Perseverance and Assurance”My son” (the reader)Suffering reframed as fatherly discipline, not rejectionMedium. Reinforces established 父/管教; avoid honor-shame (面子) correction framing.
Hebrews 12:20Exodus 19:12-13Access to God; Old vs. New CovenantIsrael at SinaiTerrifying, restricted Sinai access contrasted with believers’ access to ZionHigh. Must retain the scene’s terror to make the “how much more” argument land.
Hebrews 12:21Deuteronomy 9:19 (cf. Exodus 20:19)Superiority over Moses; Old Covenant terrorMosesEven Moses trembled at SinaiMedium.
Hebrews 12:26Haggai 2:6Perseverance and Assurance(prophetic)Cosmic shaking preceding the “unshakeable kingdom”High. Connects to 不能震动的国; a definite future divine act, not a cyclical 治乱循环 idea.
Hebrews 13:5Deuteronomy 31:6 (cf. Joshua 1:5)Perseverance and AssuranceIsrael (Joshua’s generation)“I will never leave you nor forsake you” extended to NT believersLow-Medium.
Hebrews 13:6Psalm 118:6Perseverance and AssurancePsalmist”The Lord is my helper; I will not fear”Low.

Part 2 — Allusions and Narrative Echoes (Non-Quoted Background)

Hebrews PassageOT BackgroundTheme/DoctrineRelated Character(s)ConnectionSensitivity
Hebrews 1:1-2The whole prophetic traditionFulfillment of ProphecyThe prophetsGod’s progressive, climactic revelation “by his Son”High. Reinforces linear, not cyclical, redemptive history (per Romans baseline’s Fulfillment of Prophecy note on 治乱循环).
Hebrews 2:14-15Genesis 3:15Incarnation; Christ’s victory over deathThe serpent (implicit); ChristChrist’s incarnation and death destroy “him who has the power of death”Critical. First messianic promise fulfilled; avoid folk-exorcism framing (法力, already forbidden) describing Christ’s victory.
Hebrews 3:16-19Numbers 14Danger of ApostasyThe wilderness generationHistorical narrative behind Psalm 95’s warningMedium. Concrete precedent reinforcing warning’s seriousness.
Hebrews 4:8Joshua (conquest narrative)Perseverance and Assurance (Rest)JoshuaEven after Canaan, a greater “rest” remains — escalating typologyMedium. 安息 has a further eschatological referent.
Hebrews 5:1-3Leviticus 4, 16Christ as Great High Priest (contrast)Aaron and successorsLevitical high priest’s own need for atonement, unlike ChristHigh. Reinforces 无瑕无疵/大祭司 contrast.
Hebrews 6:20-7:10Genesis 14:17-20 (extended)Superiority of PriesthoodMelchizedek, Abraham, LeviLevi (in Abraham’s loins) implicitly lesser than MelchizedekMedium. Requires background note on this ancestral-presence argument-form, culturally distant for Chinese readers.
Hebrews 8:1-6; 9:1-10Exodus 25-30; Leviticus 16Christ as Great High Priest; Access to GodAaron, Levitical priestsFull ritual background for ch. 9’s core-passage argumentCritical. Load-bearing background for Hebrews 9:11-28.
Hebrews 9:13Numbers 19Once-for-All Atoning Sacrifice (contrast)External ceremonial purification contrasted with internal cleansingMedium. Reinforces 肉体的洁净 vs. 良心的洁净 distinction.
Hebrews 9:16-17(Greco-Roman legal convention, no OT text)New Covenant vs. OldCovenant/testament wordplay, untranslatable in MandarinHigh. Retain CUV’s footnoting strategy rather than force lexical unification.
Hebrews 10:1-4Leviticus 1-7, 16Once-for-All Atoning SacrificeLevitical priestsAnnual repetition itself proves the system’s insufficiencyCritical. Central to 一次/只一次 vs. 每年 contrast; avoid contempt for the OT system’s own provisional legitimacy.
Hebrews 11:4Genesis 4:3-5Faith of OT SaintsAbel, CainAbel’s offering accepted “by faith,” not mere ritual performanceHigh. Faith, not external performance, was always the acceptance criterion.
Hebrews 11:5Genesis 5:21-24Faith of OT SaintsEnochTaken up without death, “having pleased God”Medium. Distinguish from Daoist immortal-ascension (升仙) self-cultivation motifs — this is God’s unilateral gracious act.
Hebrews 11:7Genesis 6-9Faith of OT SaintsNoahFaith producing obedient action in response to unseen warningMedium. Reinforces established 因信而生的顺服.
Hebrews 11:8-19Genesis 12, 15, 17, 21, 22Faith of OT SaintsAbraham, Sarah, IsaacCentral OT faith paradigm; directly parallels Romans 4Critical. See Part 4.
Hebrews 11:20-22Genesis 27, 48; Genesis 50:24-25Faith of OT SaintsIsaac, Jacob, JosephPatriarchal blessings given in faith regarding the futureLow.
Hebrews 11:23-28Exodus 2-12Faith of OT SaintsMosesMoses’ choice read as valuing “the reproach of Christ” above Egypt’s treasuresMedium. Requires a note on typological/prophetic reading of the OT, not literal anachronism.
Hebrews 11:29-30Exodus 14; Joshua 6Faith of OT SaintsIsraelRed Sea crossing, fall of JerichoLow.
Hebrews 11:31Joshua 2, 6Faith of OT Saints; Unity themesRahabA Gentile, former prostitute, included by faithMedium. Bridges to Romans’ “no distinction” doctrine — faith, not ethnicity or moral history, qualifies.
Hebrews 11:32Judges; Ruth/1 SamuelFaith of OT SaintsGideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, SamuelCompressed catalogue of faithLow. Requires brief identification notes.
Hebrews 11:33-38Daniel 6; Daniel 3; 1 Kings 17; 2 Kings 4; intertestamental martyr traditionsFaith of OT SaintsVariousFaith exercised through deliverance and undeserved suffering alikeMedium. Some examples (v. 35b-38) draw on intertestamental history outside the Hebrew Bible canon — flag for readers.
Hebrews 12:16-17Genesis 25:29-34; 27:30-40Danger of Apostasy (negative example)EsauForfeiting an irrevocable covenantal birthrightMedium. Must not be moralized into generic impulsiveness — it is specifically about despising covenant standing.
Hebrews 12:18-24Exodus 19-20 (composite with heavenly Zion)Access to God; Old vs. New CovenantIsrael at Sinai; the heavenly assemblyThe book’s climactic covenant-contrast tableauHigh. Requires full OT Sinai background.
Hebrews 13:2Genesis 18-19Practical ethics (hospitality)Abraham, Lot”Some have entertained angels unawares”Low.
Hebrews 13:11-13Leviticus 16:27Once-for-All Atoning Sacrifice; TypologyAaron/Levitical priestsSin-offering carcasses burned “outside the camp,” fulfilled in Jesus’ crucifixion “outside the gate”Medium. Requires OT background note to retain typological force.

Part 3 — Messianic Prophecy and Typology Summary

OT Type/ProphecyNT Fulfillment (Hebrews)DoctrineMandarin Term ContinuitySensitivity
Melchizedek (Genesis 14:17-20; Psalm 110:4)Christ’s eternal, non-hereditary priesthood (Hebrews 5-7)Superiority over Levitical Priesthood; Christ as Great High Priest麦基洗德 / 大祭司 / 长久不变的Critical — no Chinese dynastic-succession analogy; unique typological category.
Aaronic/Levitical priesthood (Exodus 28-29; Leviticus 8-9, 16)Christ’s superior priestly office (Hebrews 4:14-5:10; 7:23-28; 9:11-28)Christ as Great High Priest大祭司 / 祭司 / 祭司职任Critical — ritual-mediation collision (monks, Daoist ritual specialists).
The Tabernacle (Exodus 25-27)The greater heavenly tabernacle (Hebrews 9:11, 23-24)New Covenant vs. Old; Access to God帐幕 / 圣所 / 至圣所 / 施恩座Critical/Medium — copy-vs.-heavenly-original typology; illusion/reality caution.
Day of Atonement ritual (Leviticus 16)Christ’s once-for-all heavenly entrance (Hebrews 9:6-12, 24-28)Once-for-All Atoning Sacrifice一次 / 只一次 / 血 / 祭物Critical — repetition-vs.-finality is the passage’s doctrinal crux.
The sacrificial system (Leviticus 1-7)Christ’s self-offering (Hebrews 9:23-26; 10:1-14)Once-for-All Atoning Sacrifice祭物 / 献上Critical — collision with ongoing folk propitiatory offerings.
Covenant-ratification blood at Sinai (Exodus 24:3-8)New Covenant’s ratifying blood, Christ’s own (Hebrews 9:15-22)New Covenant vs. Old立约的血High — must render identically across curricula, including future Gospel Last-Supper material.
Moses as covenant mediator (Exodus 24; Deuteronomy 34)Christ as mediator/guarantor of a better covenant (Hebrews 3:1-6; 8:6; 9:15; 12:24)Superiority over Moses; New Covenant vs. Old中保 / 保证人Critical — collision with folk-religious intermediaries (mediums, Daoist priests, bodhisattvas).
Isaac “received back” from the altar (Genesis 22)Type of resurrection (Hebrews 11:17-19)Faith of OT Saints; anticipation of Resurrection复活 (established, reused)Critical — a foreshadowing act of God’s power over death, not to be confused with reincarnation imagery when teaching the type.
Jeremiah’s New Covenant prophecy (Jeremiah 31:31-34)Inaugurated and guaranteed by Christ’s death (Hebrews 8:8-12; 9:15; 10:16-17; 12:24)New Covenant vs. Old (doctrinal center)新约 / 前约Critical — central disambiguation issue (see Part 5).

Sinai theophany (Exodus 19-20)The heavenly Zion/Jerusalem (Hebrews 12:18-24)Access to God through Christ’s Blood锡安山 / 天上的耶路撒冷High — climactic covenant-contrast.

Part 4 — Parallels to Romans and Cross-Curriculum Consistency

4.1 Shared OT Quotations Verbatim in Both Romans and Hebrews

OT SourceRomans CitationHebrews CitationDoctrine(s)Required Mandarin RenderingConsistency Rule
Habakkuk 2:4Romans 1:17Hebrews 10:38Faith (thesis statement of Romans); Perseverance (Hebrews)义人必因信得生MANDATORY: identical rendering in both documents, extending the baseline’s “Same rendering of Romans 1:16–17 across all documents” rule to this Hebrews citation. Teaching notes may distinguish emphasis (Romans: initial justifying faith; Hebrews: sustaining/persevering faith) but the quoted clause itself must never vary.
Deuteronomy 32:35(-36)Romans 12:19Hebrews 10:30Danger of Apostasy (Hebrews); Christian ethics/non-retaliation (Romans)伸冤在我,我必报应MANDATORY: identical rendering (already the shared CUV form). ADD a mandatory clarifying teaching note at both locations: this personal, first-person divine “I will repay” is a promise from a personal Judge to vindicate his people, categorically distinct from the impersonal karmic-retribution sense of 报应 already rejected elsewhere in the baseline (“sin” doctrine notes). The word itself is fixed by direct Scripture quotation; the risk lies entirely in the absence of the note, not in the word choice.
Genesis 15:6 (thematic parallel; Hebrews narrates but does not directly quote)Romans 4:3, 4:9, 4:22 (direct quotation)Hebrews 11:8-19 (extended narrative treatment, no direct quotation)Faith of OT Saints (Hebrews); Justification by Faith (Romans)他信神,这就算为他的义 (via established 算为义)RECOMMENDED: Hebrews 11:8-19 teaching materials should explicitly cross-reference Romans 4 and reuse 信心/算为义 vocabulary exactly. Hebrews stresses faith’s perseverant, forward-looking character (“a better country,” Hebrews 11:13-16); Romans stresses faith’s justifying, forensic character. Teach as complementary, not competing.
Psalm 110:1Romans 8:34 (allusion: “at the right hand of God”)Hebrews 1:13 (direct quotation); underlies Hebrews 8:1, 10:12, 12:2Lordship of Christ; Christ’s Intercession; Providence坐在…右边RECOMMENDED: identical idiom across both curricula’s occurrences, preserving the link between Christ’s heavenly session (Hebrews) and his ongoing intercession for believers (Romans 8:34, 代求, established).
Psalm 2:7Not directly quoted, but Romans 1:4’s “declared to be the Son of God… by his resurrection” is structurally parallelHebrews 1:5; 5:5Sonship of Christ; Deity of Christ你是我的儿子,我今日已经生你 (alongside established 神的儿子)RECOMMENDED: teaching notes for Hebrews 1:5 should cross-reference Romans 1:4’s “declared” language with identical doctrinal framing, so “today I have begotten you” is not read as implying a temporal beginning of the Son — the same caution already required for son_of_god/sonship_of_christ in the Romans baseline.
Genesis 2:2 (Sabbath rest)Not directly quoted, but structurally parallel to Romans’ grace-not-works doctrine (Romans 4:4-5)Hebrews 4:4; 4:9-10Perseverance and Assurance (Hebrews); Grace vs. works (Romans)安息 / 恩典RECOMMENDED: teach Hebrews’ “rest” doctrine (ceasing from one’s own works, entering God’s provided rest) as an experiential counterpart to Romans’ forensic grace-not-works doctrine; reinforce 恩典’s established anti-merit framing (rejection of 功德) when teaching Hebrews 4.
Jeremiah 31 / Israel’s covenant storyRomans 9-11 (Israel’s continuing election, without direct Jeremiah 31 quotation)Hebrews 8, 10 (direct extended quotation)Unity of Jews and Gentiles (Romans); New Covenant vs. Old (Hebrews)新约 (with 前约 disambiguation)RECOMMENDED: teaching notes must clarify that Hebrews 8’s New Covenant argument concerns covenant administration succession, not ethnic Israel’s exclusion — consistent with Romans 11’s “God has not rejected his people.” Avoid any framing implying ethnic supersession.

4.2 Additional Thematic Parallel Worth Flagging

Romans 11:20-22 (“do not become proud, but fear… otherwise you too will be cut off”) is a direct thematic parallel to Hebrews’ apostasy warnings (Hebrews 3:12-14; 6:4-8; 10:26-31; 12:15-17): both warn professing covenant members against presumption, using organic/relational imagery (olive branches in Romans; inheritance/birthright in Hebrews). Teaching materials for either curriculum’s warning passages should note this parallel to reinforce that the danger of apostasy is not unique to Hebrews’ argument but a broader New Testament pattern already established in Romans.

Romans 5:1-2 (“we have access [obtained] by faith into this grace in which we stand,” and “we have peace with God”) is the closest Romans parallel to Hebrews’ repeated προσέρχομαι (“draw near”) vocabulary (Hebrews 4:16; 7:19; 10:19-22; 11:6; 12:22). Both describe direct, faith-based access to God secured by Christ’s finished work. Reuse 恩典 and 平安 (established) alongside the new 来到…面前/亲近(神) rendering when cross-teaching these passages.

4.3 Shared Doctrinal Categories Without a Shared Direct Quotation

Hebrews DoctrineRomans Doctrine (Baseline)Note
Christ as Great High PriestProvidence; Intercession (Romans 8:26-27, 34)Both describe Christ/Spirit acting on believers’ behalf before God; 代求 (established) reused.
The Danger of ApostasyAssurance of Salvation (Romans 8:28-39), held in tensionThe warning passages and the assurance passages must be taught together, not resolved by softening either.
Faith of the Old Testament SaintsJustification by Faith (Romans 3-4)Same Abraham narrative, complementary emphasis (see 4.1 above).
Perseverance and AssuranceProvidence (神的护理); Assurance (得救的确据)Reuse established terms exactly; Hebrews adds the “anchor” (锚) and “unshakeable kingdom” (不能震动的国) images.
Access to God through Christ’s BloodPeace with God (Romans 5:1); Access into grace (Romans 5:2)Same doctrine, courtroom imagery (Romans) vs. sanctuary imagery (Hebrews) — complementary metaphor systems, not competing doctrines.

Part 5 — Rendering-Consistency Rules for Shared Quotations (Formal Ruleset)

  1. Habakkuk 2:4 / Romans 1:17 / Hebrews 10:38 — identical clause 义人必因信得生; never vary.
  2. Deuteronomy 32:35 / Romans 12:19 / Hebrews 10:30 — identical clause 伸冤在我,我必报应; mandatory clarifying note at both locations distinguishing personal divine repayment from impersonal karmic retribution.
  3. Exodus 24:8 / Hebrews 9:20, 10:29, 13:20 / future Gospel Last Supper accounts (Matthew 26:28; Mark 14:24; Luke 22:20) — 立约的血 rendered identically in all locations.
  4. Psalm 110:1 / Hebrews 1:13, 8:1, 10:12, 12:2 / Romans 8:34 (allusion) — 坐在…右边 rendered identically.
  5. Psalm 95:7-11 — internal Hebrews-only consistency across Hebrews 3:7-11, 3:15, 4:3, 4:5, 4:7; identical rendering at all five occurrences.
  6. Psalm 110:4 — internal Hebrews-only consistency across Hebrews 5:6, 6:20, 7:17, 7:21; identical rendering at all four occurrences.
  7. Jeremiah 31:31-34 — internal Hebrews-only consistency across Hebrews 8:8-12 and 10:16-17; identical rendering; both occurrences require the 新约/前约 disambiguating note.
  8. 新约/前约 disambiguation rule: 新约 is used ONLY for covenant-theology contexts referring to the New Covenant relationship; 前约 is used for “the first/former covenant” (Hebrews 8:7, 9:15, 9:18); 旧约 is reserved exclusively for the OT canon-of-books sense (旧约圣经) and must never be substituted in covenant-theology contexts, per CUV’s own precedent.
  9. Genesis 22 / Genesis 15:6 / Romans 4 (Abraham material) — 信心/算为义 vocabulary reused exactly whenever Hebrews 11:8-19 and Romans 4 are cross-referenced in teaching material.
  10. Citation format — all Scripture references in English-facing pipeline documents normalized as [Book] [Chapter]:[Verse(s)] (e.g. Genesis 15:6, Habakkuk 2:4, Hebrews 9:11-28); Mandarin-facing learner materials follow the baseline’s established citation format (e.g. 罗马书3:23, 希伯来书9:11-28).
