07 Semantic Analysis — Gospel of John (Koine Greek → Mandarin Chinese)
Methodology
This analysis proceeds in two parts, per the PRD Phase 1 Step 1 mandate:
- Core Passage (John 3:1–21), verse-by-verse. Every load-bearing term is analyzed with: original Greek word, transliteration, literal meaning, semantic range, English translation variants, contextual theological meaning within the passage, and the specific Mandarin destination-language rendering risk.
- Chapter-by-chapter study of the whole book (John 1–21). Each chapter receives a section covering its load-bearing theological terms with the same analytical fields. Where a chapter introduces no new theological vocabulary beyond terms already treated, this is stated explicitly, and the chapter’s theological content is still summarized.
Baseline reuse rule: Any term already recorded in the Romans translation_memory.json baseline (e.g., 神, 耶稣, 圣灵, 主, 神的儿子, 恩典, 信心, 义, 救恩, 荣耀, 复活, 律法, 罪, 以色列, 大卫, 神的国, 基督, 先知, 约, 拣选, 父, 阿爸, 道成肉身) is reused exactly as recorded, with no re-derivation. Where John’s usage adds a new theological nuance to a baseline term, that nuance is flagged as a note rather than a new rendering.
