Doctrine Analysis
11 Doctrine Analysis — Mark 1–16 (English → Mandarin)
Purpose
This document is the full doctrine matrix for the Mark curriculum, extending — and never contradicting — the baseline Romans Language Package and the prior Mark artifacts (08_core_glossary.md, doctrine_risk_registry.json). It satisfies the PRD Phase 1 full-book coverage mandate: every chapter of Mark, first to last, is accounted for, either as the origin of a load-bearing doctrine/term or as an explicitly reviewed chapter contributing no new doctrinal or terminological load. Risk tiers, doctrine names, and review routing below are IDENTICAL to doctrine_risk_registry.json — this document does not introduce, rename, or re-tier any doctrine; it supplies the supporting passage inventory, chapter mapping, and translation-risk rationale behind that registry.
The core passage, Mark 10:35-45 (James and John’s request; “the Son of Man came… to give his life as a ransom for many”), is the theological anchor of the curriculum and the point where four of the eight named curriculum doctrines converge (Servanthood versus Worldly Greatness, The Ransom for Many, The Necessity of the Cross, The Messianic Secret’s Son of Man title). It is never treated as the scope boundary of this analysis.
Section 1: Full Doctrine Matrix
| # | Doctrine | Mandarin Doctrine Name | Risk | Supporting Passages (Mark) | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Jesus as the Suffering Servant and Son of God | 受苦的仆人与神的儿子 | Critical | 1:1, 1:11, 8:31, 9:7, 10:45, 15:39 | Mark brackets the Gospel with 神的儿子 (1:1//15:39) while showing Jesus as Isaiah’s Suffering Servant (仆人/人子); no Chinese category unites supreme divinity with voluntary humiliating service. Must hold both poles together in every occurrence. | Human theologian |
| 2 | Deity of Christ | 基督的神性 | Critical | 1:1, 1:11, 2:10, 6:50, 9:7, 14:61-64, 15:39 | Co-equal, eternal divine nature, not a Mandate-of-Heaven-elevated ruler. ἐγώ εἰμι echoes (6:50, 14:62) are lost in plain 是我/我是 without a translator’s note surfacing Exodus 3:14. | Human theologian |
| 3 | Sonship of Christ | 基督的儿子名分 | Critical | 1:1, 1:11, 3:11, 5:7, 9:7, 15:39 | NEVER 天子 (“Son of Heaven,” a transferable imperial office). Christ’s Sonship is eternal, unique, declared by the Father, not merit-bestowed. | Human theologian |
| 4 | The Messianic Secret | 弥赛亚的秘密 | Critical | 1:24-25,34,44; 3:11-12; 4:11; 8:29-30; 9:9; 11:9-10; 14:61-62; 15:39 | Distinctively Markan pattern with no Chinese religious analogue; risk of premature unveiling or reducing silencing commands to mere modesty. Must be taught as deliberate, grace-based revelation culminating at the cross. | Human theologian |
| 5 | Messianic Promise | 弥赛亚的应许 | Critical | 1:1, 8:29, 10:47-48, 12:35-37, 13:21-22 | NEVER conflate with 弥勒 (Maitreya); false christs (假基督, 13:21-22) must not be read as competing millenarian saviors but as imitators of the one, already-come Messiah. | Human theologian |
| 6 | The Necessity of the Cross | 十字架的必然性 | Critical | 8:31; 9:12,31; 10:33-34,38-39,45; 14:36; 15:13-27 | δεῖ (必须) must never collapse into impersonal fate (命运); “背十字架” has drained into a secular burden-bearing idiom in modern Mandarin. Every occurrence anchored to the literal, historical crucifixion. | Human theologian |
| 7 | Resurrection of Christ | 基督的复活 | Critical | 8:31; 9:9-10,31; 10:34; 12:18-27; 16:6 | NEVER 轮回/投胎/还魂. Jairus’s daughter’s “rising” (5:41-42) must use ordinary vocabulary, reserving 复活 for the technical, climactic sense at 16:6. | Human theologian |
| 8 | The Ransom for Many | 作多人的赎价 | Critical | 10:45, 14:24 | 赎价 must be distinguished from folk ritual debt-repayment (还愿, 冥币) where humans pay spirits; here God himself provides the price. Substitutionary 替/代替 must not dilute to beneficiary 为了. Core-passage doctrine. | Human theologian |
| 9 | Lordship of Christ | 基督的主权 | Critical | 2:28; 5:19; 11:3,9; 12:35-37; 13:35 | Exclusive Lordship, including over the Sabbath (2:28); must not soften to 老爷/主人. 12:35-37’s veiled greater-than-David claim requires theologian review as part of the Messianic Secret pattern. | Human theologian |
| 10 | Jesus’ Authority over Sin and Unclean Spirits | 耶稣胜过污鬼与罪的权柄 | Critical | 1:23-27,34,39; 2:5-10; 3:22-30; 5:1-20; 9:17-29 | Collides with the folk category of 鬼 (ancestor/ghost spirits, appeased ritually); must be taught as personal evil beings under one personal Satan (撒但), decisively defeated by Christ’s word — never negotiable via ritual. | Human theologian |
| 11 | Covenant Blood and the New Covenant | 立约的血与新约 | Critical | 14:22-25 | 立约的血 must be translated in deliberate harmony with 10:45’s “for many”; 约 must not drift toward commercial 合同/契约. | Human theologian |
| 12 | The Kingdom of God Breaking In | 神的国的临近 | High | 1:15; 4:11,26-32; 9:1; 10:14-15,23-25; 12:34 | Must avoid 天下/王朝 framing; the already/not-yet tension (4:26-32) has no analogue in cyclical Chinese dynastic historiography (治乱循环). | Human theologian |
| 13 | Faith and Discipleship amid Fear | 信心与在惧怕中的跟随 | High | 4:35-41; 5:34-36; 6:50-52; 9:23-24; 10:32; 14:32-42; 16:8 | Mark pairs faith with fear rather than resolving one into the other (9:24); must not moralize doubt as shameful, nor collapse into Confucian stoic composure or folk fear-avoidance ritual. | Human theologian |
| 14 | Servanthood versus Worldly Greatness | 仆人的身份与世上的尊大 | High | 9:33-37; 10:35-45 | 用人/仆人 risk being heard through pre-modern master-servant hierarchy or fixed Confucian role-ethics; worldly domination (治理/操权管束, 10:42) must never share vocabulary with Jesus’ own legitimate 权柄. Core-passage doctrine. | Human theologian |
| 15 | Jesus’ Authority over Sickness | 耶稣胜过疾病的权柄 | High | 1:29-34,40-45; 2:1-12; 5:21-43; 6:53-56; 7:31-37; 8:22-26; 10:46-52 | Risk of being read through folk healing-rite paradigms (ritual appeasement of a spirit believed to cause illness); 神的大能 must never render as 气/法力. | Human theologian |
| 16 | Jesus’ Authority over Nature | 耶稣胜过自然界的权柄 | High | 4:35-41; 6:45-52; 11:12-14,20-21 | Command over wind, sea, and the fig tree must be taught as unique divine authority (“Who then is this?” 4:41), not qi-like cosmic energy manipulation (气) associable with Daoist/martial-arts cosmology. | Human theologian |
| 17 | Jesus’ Authority to Forgive Sins | 耶稣赦罪的权柄 | High | 2:1-12; 3:28-29; 11:25 | Must not be conflated with dissolving karmic debt (消业) or merit-offsetting (功德, already Critical in the baseline). Tied directly to the Son of Man title (2:10). | Human theologian |
| 18 | Purity Relocated to the Heart | 洁净归回内心 | High | 7:1-23 | Strong collision with folk ritual-pollution concepts (不洁, remedied by washing rites). Jesus’ relocation of defilement from external contact to the heart is itself the load-bearing point; no ritual washing may be implied as sufficient. | Human theologian |
| 19 | Blasphemy Against the Holy Spirit | 亵渎圣灵的罪 | High | 3:28-29; 14:61-64 | Must retain the narrow biblical sense (willful rejection of the Spirit’s testimony to Christ), not generalized taboo-breaking against a folk deity (得罪神明), which carries a different, negotiable retribution logic. | Human theologian |
| 20 | Eschatological Judgment and Hell | 末世的审判与地狱 | High | 9:42-48; 13:19-27 | 地狱 collides with the folk-Buddhist/Daoist underworld bureaucracy (阴间/地府) with graduated punishments and ritual appeal (超度, already Critical in the baseline). Biblical γέεννα is final and God-determined. | Human theologian |
| 21 | Davidic Messiahship | 大卫式的弥赛亚身份 | High | 10:47-48; 11:9-10; 12:35-37 | Requires OT covenant background; Chinese dynastic tradition has no analogue to an unconditional, perpetual covenant to one royal line (the Mandate of Heaven is inherently revocable). | Human theologian |
| 22 | Eternal Life and the Cost of Discipleship | 永生与作门徒的代价 | High | 8:34-38; 10:17-31 | 永生 collides with Daoist physical-immortality cultivation (长生不老). Biblical eternal life is resurrected, relational, God-given life through total surrender to Christ, never self-cultivated longevity. | Human theologian |
| 23 | Betrayal and the Divine Plan | 出卖与神的计划 | High | 3:19; 9:31; 10:33; 14:10-21,41-46 | One Greek verb (παραδίδωμι) covers Judas’s culpable treachery and the Father’s redemptive “giving up” of the Son; a single flattened rendering risks confusing human sin with divine self-giving, or excusing Judas. | Human theologian |
| 24 | The Mystery of the Kingdom and Parables | 神国的奥秘与比喻 | Medium | 4:1-34; 12:1-12 | 奥秘 must not be assimilated to esoteric initiate-only transmission (Daoist inner-alchemy, Buddhist esoteric transmission); 比喻 must retain its revealing/concealing function, not read as a generic fable (寓言). | Native speaker review |
| 25 | Repentance and the Kingdom | 悔改与神的国 | Medium | 1:4,15; 6:12 | 悔改 must convey more than emotional regret (后悔) — a decisive reorientation of allegiance to God’s reign, inseparable from believing the gospel. | Native speaker review |
| 26 | The Second Coming and Watchfulness | 基督再来与警醒等候 | Medium | 13:24-37 | 警醒 must be distinguished from folk-superstitious vigilance against inauspicious omens (避凶趋吉); biblical watchfulness is confident, faith-rooted readiness. | Native speaker review |
| 27 | Universal Mission to All Nations | 向万民传福音的使命 | Medium | 13:10; 16:15 | Consistent with the baseline’s mission entry; avoid reinforcing the historic 洋教 (“foreign religion”) stigma. | Native speaker review |
| 28 | Temple Judgment and Access to God | 圣殿的审判与通往神的道路 | Medium | 11:11-21; 13:1-2; 15:38 | Requires Temple-architecture background; must not be conflated with judgment on 庙/寺/道观 as generic religious buildings. | Native speaker review |
| 29 | Apostleship and Delegated Mission | 使徒的职分与受托的使命 | Low | 3:13-19; 6:7-13,30 | Low collision risk; minor risk of conflating delegated apostolic authority with independently held power. | Automated review |
| 30 | Public Acclamation of the Messiah | 群众对弥赛亚的欢呼 | Low | 11:9-10; 15:26 | Minimal lexical collision (和散那 transliterated); teaching need is contextual (partial popular understanding), not lexical. | Automated review |
Risk summary (must match doctrine_risk_registry.json exactly): Critical: 11 · High: 12 · Medium: 5 · Low: 2 · Total requiring theologian review: 23 · Total requiring native speaker review: 5 · Total automated-only: 2.

| Mark 15 | #6 Necessity of the Cross (15:13-27, crucifixion); #4 Messianic Secret / #30 Public Acclamation (15:2,9,12,18,26,32, “King of the Jews” irony); #28 Temple Judgment (15:38, torn curtain); #1 Suffering Servant/Son of God (15:39, centurion’s confession — narrative climax) | The Passion’s climax; the centurion’s confession closes the 神的儿子 inclusio opened at 1:1. |
| Mark 16 | #7 Resurrection of Christ (16:6, climactic occurrence); #27 Universal Mission to All Nations (16:15, longer ending) | Reviewed. Note: 16:9-20 is a well-documented manuscript-tradition variant (the “longer ending”); translators must retain standard editorial bracketing/footnoting conventions used in established Mandarin Bible editions (CUV) rather than silently omitting or fully integrating it without notice. |
Section 3: Consistency Statement
This document introduces no doctrine, risk tier, key term, or review routing not already present in doctrine_risk_registry.json and 08_core_glossary.md. It supplies only: (a) the full supporting-passage inventory per doctrine, (b) the chapter-by-chapter coverage trace required by the PRD Phase 1 full-book mandate, and (c) a condensed translation-risk rationale for each doctrine consistent with the registry’s mandarin_risk_notes. Any future update to risk tier or routing must be made first in doctrine_risk_registry.json, then mirrored here.
Load this document alongside 08_core_glossary.md and doctrine_risk_registry.json before Phase 2 translation planning and before 04_comparative_theology.md is used for reviewer training.
Critical Risk Doctrines
Jesus as the Suffering Servant and Son of God
Mandarin name: 受苦的仆人与神的儿子
Key terms: 人子, 神的儿子, 仆人, 荣耀, 爱子
Review routing: Human theologian
Mark brackets the whole Gospel with 神的儿子 (1:1//15:39) while repeatedly showing Jesus embodying Isaiah’s Suffering Servant (仆人/人子) — a paradox with no ready Chinese analogue, since neither the Confucian sage nor the Daoist immortal combines supreme divine status with voluntary, humiliating self-giving service. Every occurrence must hold both poles together, not resolve the paradox toward either pure exaltation or pure humility.
Deity of Christ
Mandarin name: 基督的神性
Key terms: 神的儿子, 主, 是我/我是, 荣耀
Review routing: Human theologian
Co-equal, eternal divine nature — not a human ruler elevated to semi-divine status as in the historic Chinese emperor’s Mandate-of-Heaven-derived legitimacy. The ἐγώ εἰμι echoes (6:50; 14:62) are especially vulnerable to being lost in plain Mandarin self-identification (是我); must always carry a translator’s note surfacing the Exodus 3:14 divine-Name background.
Sonship of Christ
Mandarin name: 基督的儿子名分
Key terms: 神的儿子, 爱子, 父
Review routing: Human theologian
NEVER equate with 天子 (“Son of Heaven”), the historic imperial title held by any legitimate emperor under the Mandate of Heaven. Christ’s Sonship, declared by the Father at baptism and Transfiguration, is eternal and unique, not an office transferable to another holder or an honor bestowed for merit.
The Messianic Secret
Mandarin name: 弥赛亚的秘密
Key terms: 基督, 人子, 奥秘, 亵渎, 比喻
Review routing: Human theologian
This is a distinctively Markan literary-theological pattern with no ready Chinese religious analogue; the risk is that translators or teachers ‘resolve’ the tension by either fully unveiling Jesus’ identity too early or reducing his silencing commands to mere modesty. Must be taught as deliberate, selective, grace-based revelation (奥秘) that culminates, not conceals, at the cross (15:39) and the open trial confession (14:61-62).
Messianic Promise
Mandarin name: 弥赛亚的应许
Key terms: 基督, 大卫的子孙, 假基督
Review routing: Human theologian
NEVER conflate with 弥勒 (Maitreya), the future Buddha expected in Chinese Buddhist eschatology, or with the false christs (假基督) Jesus himself warns against (13:21-22) — a warning that could be misread through the lens of competing millenarian saviors rather than as a warning against imitators of the one, already-come Messiah.
The Necessity of the Cross
Mandarin name: 十字架的必然性
Key terms: 必须, 十字架, 杯, 受洗/洗, 受苦
Review routing: Human theologian
δεῖ (“must,” 必须) is the doctrine’s lexical anchor and must never collapse into impersonal fate (命运) or an unavoidable curse; it is grounded in Scripture’s fulfillment and the Father’s saving purpose. Additionally, “背十字架” has become a drained secular idiom for “bearing a heavy burden” in modern Mandarin — every occurrence must be anchored to the literal, historical, once-for-all crucifixion (ch.15).
Resurrection of Christ
Mandarin name: 基督的复活
Key terms: 复活
Review routing: Human theologian
NEVER 轮回 (reincarnation cycle), 投胎 (rebirth into a new womb), or 还魂 (folk ghost-story reanimation). Bodily, historical, once-for-all; Jairus’s daughter’s foreshadowing ‘rising’ (5:41-42) must use ordinary vocabulary, not this technical term, to keep the doctrine’s climactic 16:6 occurrence unambiguous.
The Ransom for Many
Mandarin name: 作多人的赎价
Key terms: 赎价, 舍命, 约, 替/代替多人
Review routing: Human theologian
赎价 must be distinguished from folk-religious ritual debt-repayment to spirits or ancestors (还愿, burning 冥币), where the direction of payment is human-to-spirit; here God himself, in Christ, provides the price on humanity’s behalf. The substitutionary force of ἀντί (‘instead of/in place of’) must be preserved as 替/代替, not diluted to a merely beneficiary ‘for the sake of’ (为了) sense. 14:24’s ‘blood of the covenant… for many’ must be translated and taught in deliberate harmony with 10:45.
Lordship of Christ
Mandarin name: 基督的主权
Key terms: 主, 安息日
Review routing: Human theologian
Exclusive, supreme Lordship — including lordship over the Sabbath itself (2:28) — must not be softened to a feudal honorific (老爷) or ordinary master-servant relation (主人). Jesus’ veiled claim to a status greater than David’s own son (12:35-37) requires theologian review, consistent with the Messianic Secret pattern.
Jesus’ Authority over Sin and Unclean Spirits
Mandarin name: 耶稣胜过污鬼与罪的权柄
Key terms: 权柄, 污鬼/鬼, 撒但, 赦免, 亵渎
Review routing: Human theologian
Direct collision with the extensive Chinese folk-religious category of 鬼 (ghosts of the deceased, appeased through ancestor rites and the Hungry Ghost Festival). Must be taught unmistakably as personal evil spiritual beings under a single, personal chief adversary (撒但), decisively and totally defeated by Christ’s own authoritative word — never approached through ritual offering, appeasement, or exorcism-for-hire, and never one more spirit among the folk-spiritual economy negotiable through ritual.
Covenant Blood and the New Covenant
Mandarin name: 立约的血与新约
Key terms: 约, 立约的血, 赎价, 舍命
Review routing: Human theologian
The compound 立约的血 (blood of the covenant) must be translated and taught in deliberate doctrinal harmony with the ransom-saying’s ‘for many’ (10:45), not as an isolated sacramental formula; loses force if 约 drifts toward the ordinary commercial-contract sense (合同/契约) rather than a gracious, divinely initiated relational bond.
High Risk Doctrines
The Kingdom of God Breaking In
Mandarin name: 神的国的临近
Key terms: 神的国, 比喻, 奥秘, 悔改
Review routing: Human theologian
Must avoid framing as a this-worldly political/dynastic order (天下, 王朝); the ‘already breaking in yet awaiting consummation’ tension of Mark’s parables (4:26-32) has no ready analogue in Chinese cyclical dynastic historiography (治乱循环) and risks being misread as either a purely future event or an already-arrived earthly political order.
Faith and Discipleship amid Fear
Mandarin name: 信心与在惧怕中的跟随
Key terms: 信心, 不信, 警醒, 神迹
Review routing: Human theologian
Mark repeatedly pairs faith with fear rather than resolving one into the other (e.g., the father’s ‘I believe; help my unbelief,’ 9:24); teaching must avoid a moralizing tone that shames doubt, presenting instead honest faith-with-doubt as the normal condition of Jesus’ followers, distinct from either stoic Confucian composure or folk-superstitious fear-avoidance.
Servanthood versus Worldly Greatness
Mandarin name: 仆人的身份与世上的尊大
Key terms: 用人, 仆人, 服事, 治理/操权管束
Review routing: Human theologian
用人 and 仆人 risk being heard through the pre-modern master–servant household hierarchy (老爷/仆人 社会秩序) or Confucian fixed-role hierarchical ethics (君臣/父子), softening a radical, voluntary status-reversal into a description of an assigned social class. The worldly-domination pattern Jesus rejects (治理/操权管束, 10:42) must never be rendered with the same term used for his own legitimate authority (权柄).
Jesus’ Authority over Sickness
Mandarin name: 耶稣胜过疾病的权柄
Key terms: 权柄, 洁净/污秽, 神的大能, 信心
Review routing: Human theologian
Healing narratives risk being read through the lens of folk-religious healing rites (ritual offerings to appease a spirit believed to cause illness) rather than as direct, authoritative divine power exercised by a personal God through Christ; 神的大能 must never be rendered with 气 or 法力.
Jesus’ Authority over Nature
Mandarin name: 耶稣胜过自然界的权柄
Key terms: 权柄, 是我/我是, 神的大能
Review routing: Human theologian
Jesus’ command over wind, sea, and even a fig tree extends his authority to the natural order itself, provoking the disciples’ fearful question ‘Who then is this?’ (4:41) — must be taught as evidence of unique divine authority, not as a display of qi-like cosmic energy manipulation (气) associable with Daoist/martial-arts cosmology.
Jesus’ Authority to Forgive Sins
Mandarin name: 耶稣赦罪的权柄
Key terms: 赦免, 罪, 人子, 权柄
Review routing: Human theologian
Must not be conflated with the Buddhist/folk notion of dissolving karmic debt (消业) or offsetting wrongdoing through accumulated merit (功德, already Critical-flagged under grace in the baseline). Jesus’ claim to forgive sins (2:10) is an implicit, unique divine prerogative tied directly to the Son of Man title.
Purity Relocated to the Heart
Mandarin name: 洁净归回内心
Key terms: 洁净/污秽, 心, 罪
Review routing: Human theologian
Strong collision with folk-religious ritual-pollution concepts (不洁, associated with death, blood, or taboo objects, remedied by ritual cleansing rites). Jesus’ relocation of defilement from external contact to internal moral condition (7:15-23) is itself the load-bearing theological point; teaching must ensure no ritual washing is implied as sufficient — only inner transformation and God’s forgiveness address the heart’s defilement.
Blasphemy Against the Holy Spirit
Mandarin name: 亵渎圣灵的罪
Key terms: 亵渎, 圣灵, 罪
Review routing: Human theologian
Must retain the narrow biblical sense of willful, knowing rejection of the Spirit’s clear testimony to Christ, not generalized into ordinary taboo-breaking or offending a folk deity/spirit (得罪神明), which carries a different, negotiable, this-worldly retribution logic rather than an eschatological unforgivability.
Eschatological Judgment and Hell
Mandarin name: 末世的审判与地狱
Key terms: 地狱, 患难, 人子
Review routing: Human theologian
地狱 collides with the elaborate Chinese folk-Buddhist/Daoist underworld bureaucracy (阴间/地府) of courts, graduated punishments, and ritual intervention for the dead (超度, already flagged Critical under salvation in the baseline). Biblical γέεννα is final and God-determined, not a temporary bureaucratic state subject to ritual appeal or merit transfer from the living.
Davidic Messiahship
Mandarin name: 大卫式的弥赛亚身份
Key terms: 大卫的子孙, 基督, 主
Review routing: Human theologian
Requires OT covenant background explanation, since Chinese dynastic tradition has no analogous perpetual, unconditional covenant to a single royal line — the Mandate of Heaven is inherently revocable, unlike God’s unconditional promise to David’s line fulfilled in Christ.
Eternal Life and the Cost of Discipleship
Mandarin name: 永生与作门徒的代价
Key terms: 永生, 神的国, 舍命
Review routing: Human theologian
永生 collides with the Daoist immortality-cultivation tradition (长生不老) pursued through alchemy, diet, or technique. Biblical eternal life is resurrected, relational, God-given life secured through total, faith-dependent surrender to Christ (10:21, 27), never self-cultivated physical longevity.
Betrayal and the Divine Plan
Mandarin name: 出卖与神的计划
Key terms: 出卖/交给, 必须, 人子
Review routing: Human theologian
The same Greek verb (παραδίδωμι) covers both Judas’s culpable treachery and the theological sense of the Son being ‘given up’ within the Father’s redemptive plan. A single flattened Mandarin rendering (e.g. always 交给) risks confusing human sin with divine self-giving love, or conversely excusing Judas’s guilt as merely playing a scripted part; translators must distinguish 出卖 (Judas) from 交给 (the theological sense) with an explanatory note.
Medium Risk Doctrines
The Mystery of the Kingdom and Parables
Mandarin name: 神国的奥秘与比喻
Key terms: 奥秘, 比喻
Review routing: Native speaker review
奥秘 must not be assimilated to esoteric secret-transmission traditions (Daoist inner-alchemy secrets, Buddhist esoteric/tantric transmission attained through technique or initiation); the kingdom’s mystery is graciously revealed by God to disciples, not attained by spiritual practice. 比喻 must retain its revealing/concealing dual function, not be read as a generic secular fable (寓言).
Repentance and the Kingdom
Mandarin name: 悔改与神的国
Key terms: 悔改, 神的国, 福音
Review routing: Native speaker review
悔改 must convey more than emotional regret (后悔); it is a decisive reorientation of allegiance toward God’s inaugurated reign, inseparable from believing the gospel.
The Second Coming and Watchfulness
Mandarin name: 基督再来与警醒等候
Key terms: 警醒, 人子, 荣耀
Review routing: Native speaker review
警醒 must be distinguished from folk-superstitious vigilance against inauspicious omens (避凶趋吉); biblical watchfulness is confident, faith-rooted expectant readiness for Christ’s certain but unscheduled return, not anxious fate-avoidance.
Universal Mission to All Nations
Mandarin name: 向万民传福音的使命
Key terms: 福音, 外邦人, 传福音给万民
Review routing: Native speaker review
Consistent with the baseline’s mission entry, frame gospel proclamation carefully to avoid reinforcing the historic 洋教 (‘foreign/Western religion’) stigma associated with Christianity’s introduction to China in the 19th-20th centuries.
Temple Judgment and Access to God
Mandarin name: 圣殿的审判与通往神的道路
Key terms: 圣殿, 幔子, 无花果树
Review routing: Native speaker review
The Temple’s cleansing, cursing of the fig tree, and the torn curtain at Jesus’ death together enact prophetic judgment on fruitless religious formalism and the opening of access to God through Christ’s death; requires Temple-architecture background explanation and must not be conflated with judgment on 庙/寺/道观 as generic religious buildings.
Low Risk Doctrines
Apostleship and Delegated Mission
Mandarin name: 使徒的职分与受托的使命
Key terms: 使徒, 权柄
Review routing: Automated review
Low collision risk: 使徒 is an established, specific term; minor risk of readers conflating delegated apostolic authority with an independently held power rather than authority received from Jesus.
Public Acclamation of the Messiah
Mandarin name: 群众对弥赛亚的欢呼
Key terms: 和散那, 大卫的子孙, 犹太人的王
Review routing: Automated review
Minimal collision risk for the transliterated acclamation itself (和散那); primary teaching need is contextual (partial popular understanding of Jesus’ identity), not lexical.
