08 — Core Glossary: Lamentations (English → Mandarin)
This glossary consolidates every load-bearing theological term identified in 07_semantic_analysis.md, across the entire book of Lamentations (chapters 1–5), with the destination-language (Mandarin) rendering, transliteration, risk tier, doctrine linkage, and rejected alternatives. Risk tiers follow the definitions established in the baseline doctrine_risk_registry.json:
- Critical — mistranslation alters or destroys essential doctrine; human theologian review required for every occurrence.
- High — mistranslation creates significant theological confusion or syncretism risk; human theologian review required.
- Medium — mistranslation reduces clarity but preserves essential meaning; native speaker review recommended.
- Low — mistranslation causes minor misunderstanding; automated review sufficient.
Terms marked [REUSE BASELINE] are already fixed in the Romans translation_memory.json and MUST be rendered identically in Lamentations materials — no new entry is created for these; they are listed here for cross-reference only.

Notes for Phase 2 Preparation
- This glossary must be merged into an updated
translation_memory.json(version increment required) before Phase 2 segment translation begins, per the baseline’s Translation Memory Load and Enforcement Instructions. - New Critical-risk entries (慈爱/chesed, 信实/emunah, 指望/yachal, 管教/yasar, 罪孽/avon, 受膏者/mashiach, 救恩 reuse, 我们犯了罪/corporate confession) require theologian-authored translator notes at every occurrence, following the
[TRANSLATOR NOTE: ...]format specified in the baseline’s12_ai_translation_requirements.md. - Particular vigilance is required around 慈爱 (chesed) and 哀歌 (qinah): both terms sit directly inside the semantic field of mainstream Chinese Buddhist devotional and funerary vocabulary (慈悲/大慈大悲; 哭丧), making them the highest-risk syncretism points in this curriculum, comparable in severity to the baseline’s 恩典-vs-功德 and 成圣-vs-修身 warnings.
- 受膏者 (Lam 4:20) requires a standing cross-reference note to the baseline’s 弥赛亚的应许 (Messianic Promise) doctrine entry to prevent any drift toward reading Zedekiah’s anointing as messianic in the technical sense.
