Cross-Reference Notes for Phase 2 Consistency
- সদাপ্রভু vs প্রভু — This is the single most important new distinction this glossary introduces relative to the Romans baseline. সদাপ্রভু renders the Old Testament covenant name YHWH; প্রভু remains reserved for New Testament κύριος applied to Christ. Any curriculum material that quotes or references both Testaments together (e.g., citing Romans 11:1-5’s use of 1 Kings 19:18, or Romans 10:13 quoting Joel 2:32’s “the LORD”) must apply this distinction with care and may require a translator note explaining the terminological continuity underneath the two Bengali forms.
- গৃহ / মন্দির for “temple” — Recommend সদাপ্রভুর গৰহ as the default, theologically load-bearing term, with মন্দির permitted only as a general architectural descriptor and always with the Critical-risk translator note distinguishing biblical Name-theology from Hindu mandir/murti theology.
- প্রতিমা / মূর্তি for “idol” — Recommend প্রতিমা as default; discourage মূর্তি as a first choice due to its especially strong contemporary association with active Hindu devotional image-worship (e.g., Durga Puja).
- দেবতা reserved exclusively for false/pagan deities — Never ঈশ্বর. This mirrors and reinforces the baseline’s core theological-linguistic strategy (reserving ঈশ্বর against ভগবান/আল্লাহ) at the level of narrative vocabulary throughout 1 Kings.
- বাল (Baal) as untranslated proper noun — Never রেন্ডার as প্রভু or মালিক. Consistency here is essential to the coherence of the Mount Carmel doctrine’s central rhetorical question: which “lord” is truly Lord?
- সদাপ্রভুই ঈশ্বর (18:39) and রোমীয় ১০:৯’র যীশু প্রভু — both are fixed, non-negotiable confessional formulas within their respective Testaments and must never be paraphrased, softened, or varied in any curriculum material.
