Doctrine Analysis
11 Doctrine Analysis — Colossians — Full-Book Doctrine Matrix
This document executes PRD Phase 1 Step 5 (doctrine identification and risk mapping) for the full text of Colossians, chapter by chapter, cross-referenced against assets/doctrine_risk_registry.json (Step 4 output). Every doctrine, risk tier, and review-routing decision below is IDENTICAL to the registry; this file adds the chapter-by-chapter navigational structure the registry does not itself provide, plus translation-risk framing for each occurrence cluster. No new doctrines are introduced here beyond the 29 already registered. Where a chapter section carries no new doctrinal load, it is explicitly marked “Reviewed — no new doctrinal risk” rather than omitted, per full-book coverage mandate.
Core passage: Colossians 1:15–20 (Supremacy and Sufficiency of Christ) anchors the whole book but is not the boundary of this analysis.
Risk Tier Legend (from baseline, unchanged)
| Tier | Meaning | Routing |
|---|---|---|
| Critical | Mistranslation alters or destroys essential doctrine | Human theologian, every occurrence |
| High | Mistranslation creates significant theological confusion or syncretism risk | Human theologian |
| Medium | Mistranslation reduces clarity but preserves essential meaning | Native speaker review |
| Low | Minor misunderstanding or imprecision | Automated review |
Chapter 1 (1:1–29) — Greeting, Thanksgiving, Supremacy of Christ, Reconciliation, Paul’s Ministry
| Section | Doctrine | Supporting Passages (Ch. 1) | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1:1–2 | Church as God’s People / Apostleship (baseline) | 1:1–2 | Medium / Medium (baseline) | মণ্ডলী, প্রেরিত — established terms; salutation formula must match baseline প্রভু/পিতা/অনুগ্রহ/শান্তি renderings exactly | Native speaker |
| 1:3–8 | Thanksgiving | 1:3 | Low | Standard ধন্যবাদ vocabulary | Automated |
| 1:3–8 | Prayer and Intercession | 1:9 (spills into 1:3–8 lead-in) | Medium | See 1:9–14 row below | Native speaker |
| 1:4–8 | Christian Fellowship and Corporate Worship (love in the Spirit, hope reported by Epaphras) | 1:4, 1:8 | Low | প্রেম here is general report of love among believers, not yet the doctrinal virtue-list occurrence of 3:14; still requires anchoring away from bhakti-romantic register | Automated |
| 1:9–14 | Prayer and Intercession | 1:9 | Medium | ”Praying always… asking” — direct access to God in Christ’s name, not ritual petition | Native speaker |
| 1:9–14 | Sanctification and Holy Living | 1:10 (“walk worthy,” “fully pleasing,” “bearing fruit”) | High | Anchor পবিত্র-root vocabulary to Spirit-empowered growth, not merit accumulation | Human theologian |
| 1:9–10 | Warning against False Teaching (knowledge/wisdom introduced positively before the polemic of ch. 2) | 1:9 (“spiritual wisdom and understanding”) | Critical | প্রজ্ঞা/জ্ঞান first appear here in a positive, Christ-anchored sense — must be translated consistently with their later polemical use in 2:2–3, 2:23 | Human theologian |
| 1:12 | Adoption and Inheritance in Christ | 1:12 (“inheritance of the saints”) | High | উত্তরাধিকার must convey full, secure heirship, read with baseline দত্তকপুত্রতা | Human theologian |
| 1:13 | Sonship of Christ | 1:13 (“kingdom of his beloved Son”) | Critical | ঈশ্বরের পুত্র — relational/eternal Sonship; mandatory translator note for Muslim-background readers | Human theologian |
| 1:13 | Kingdom of the Beloved Son | 1:13 | Medium | ঈশ্বরের রাজ্য / প্রিয় পুত্রের রাজ্য — spiritual reign, not territorial | Native speaker |
| 1:13–14 | Reconciliation through the Cross / Redemption | 1:13–14 (“redemption,” “forgiveness of sins”) | Critical | উদ্ধার — NEVER মুক্তি/মোক্ষ; ক্ষমা (forgiveness) must not collapse into forensic ধার্মিক বলে গণ্য হওয়া | Human theologian |
| 1:15–17 | Supremacy of Christ over Creation | 1:15, 1:16, 1:17 | Critical | প্রতিমূর্তি (image), প্রথমজাত (firstborn), সৃষ্টি (creation) — core passage; see dedicated notes below | Human theologian |
| 1:15–17 | Preeminence of Christ (Firstborn — Rank, Not Chronology) | 1:15, 1:17 | Critical | প্রথমজাত must always be paired with “before all things” (1:17) in surrounding context/notes to foreclose a creaturely reading | Human theologian |
| 1:16 | Subordination of Cosmic Powers to Christ | 1:16 (thrones, dominions, rulers, authorities) | Critical | সিংহাসন/কর্তৃত্ব/আধিপত্য/ক্ষমতা — fourfold list; NEVER শক্তি for any member of the list | Human theologian |
| 1:18 | Christ as Head of the Church | 1:18 | High | মস্তক (organic, life-giving headship) + দেহ (church-body sense, first of three senses in the book) | Human theologian |

| 1:19 | Fullness of Deity in Christ Bodily | 1:19 | Critical | পূর্ণতা — must not be read as “partial manifestation” (Gnostic-adjacent pleroma cosmology) | Human theologian |
| 1:19 | Sufficiency of Christ’s Atonement | 1:19 | Critical | Sets up the 1:24 tension; পূর্ণতা here forecloses any later reading of Paul’s sufferings as atonement-supplementing | Human theologian |
| 1:20–22 | Reconciliation through the Cross | 1:20, 1:21–22 | Critical | মিলন must retain cosmic (“all things,” τὰ πάντα) scope, not narrowed to interpersonal reconciliation; ক্রুশ, রক্ত (blood) | Human theologian |
| 1:22 | Sanctification and Holy Living | 1:22 (“holy and blameless”) | High | পবিত্র — relational/moral, not ritual purity | Human theologian |
| 1:23 | Faith, Gospel, Hope (baseline terms) | 1:23 | High (baseline) | বিশ্বাস, সুসমাচার, প্রত্যাশা — exact baseline/glossary renderings | Human theologian |

| 1:25–29 | Christ-Centered Ministry | 1:25, 1:28–29 | Medium | ব্যবস্থাপনা (stewardship); ঈশ্বরের সামর্থ্য (baseline, NEVER শক্তি) | Native speaker |
| 1:26–27 | Mystery of the Gospel Revealed | 1:26–27 | High | নিগূঢ়তত্ত্ব/গোপন সত্য must be framed as openly disclosed to all saints, not Tantric-style initiate secret-knowledge | Human theologian |
| 1:28 | Warning against False Teaching (wisdom, positive use) | 1:28 | Critical | প্রজ্ঞা again, still positive/Christ-anchored; consistency check against 2:23’s negative polemical use required | Human theologian |
Chapter 2 (2:1–23) — Warning Against False Teaching, Fullness of Deity, Union with Christ
| Section | Doctrine | Supporting Passages (Ch. 2) | Risk | Translation Risk | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2:1–3 | Mystery of the Gospel Revealed | 2:2 | High | Repeats 1:26–27’s disclosure framing; “treasures of wisdom and knowledge” (প্রজ্ঞা ও জ্ঞানের ধন) hidden IN Christ specifically | Human theologian |
| 2:4–5 | Warning against False Teaching and Syncretism | 2:4 (“delude you with plausible arguments”) | Critical | Introduces the polemic; establishes that what follows targets one specific system, not all non-Christian thought categorically | Human theologian |
| 2:6–7 | Lordship of Christ | 2:6 (“as you received Christ Jesus as Lord”) | Critical | প্রভু — exclusive supreme Lordship | Human theologian |
| 2:8 | Warning against False Teaching and Syncretism (philosophy) | 2:8 | Critical | দর্শনশাস্ত্র — mandatory note: condemns a specific syncretistic system, not philosophical inquiry or Indian darshan traditions generally | Human theologian |
| 2:8 | Subordination of Cosmic Powers to Christ (elemental spirits) | 2:8 | Critical | জগতের মূলতত্ত্ব — highest-risk new term in the book; NEVER ভূত (ghost) or পঞ্চভূত-adjacent renderings; mandatory translator note every occurrence | Human theologian |
| 2:9 | Fullness of Deity in Christ Bodily | 2:9 | Critical | পূর্ণতা + ঈশ্বরত্ব + দৈহিকভাবে in a single clause — sharpest Christological claim in the book; any single weak link collapses the whole doctrinal claim | Human theologian |
| 2:9 | Deity of Christ | 2:9 | Critical | ঈশ্বরত্ব — must not soften to “godlike” or “divine-ish” | Human theologian |
| 2:9 | Incarnation — Bodily | 2:9 | Critical | দৈহিকভাবে read with baseline দেহধারণ; NEVER অবতার-compatible phrasing | Human theologian |
| 2:10 | Fullness of Deity in Christ Bodily / Christ as Head | 2:10 (“you have been filled in him, who is the head”) | Critical / High | পূর্ণতা (cosmic/ecclesial extension), মস্তক (cosmic headship sense, second of two senses) | Human theologian |

| 2:11 | Putting Off the Old Self (anticipatory) | 2:11 (“putting off the body of flesh”) | High | দেহ here in its physical-body sense (third distinct sense in the book, alongside church-body and “shadow/substance”) | Human theologian |
| 2:12 | Baptism as Union with Christ’s Death and Resurrection | 2:12 | Medium | বাপ্তিস্ম — established loanword, must not conflate with স্নান ritual bathing | Native speaker |
| 2:12 | Union with Christ (Died and Raised With Him) | 2:12 | Critical | সহ-পুনরুত্থান-style compounding must retain পুনরুত্থান’s bodily/historical/once-for-all force; guard against পুনর্জন্ম-adjacent drift | Human theologian |
| 2:13 | Forgiveness / Sin (baseline) | 2:13 | Medium / High (baseline) | ক্ষমা, পাপ — established renderings; forgiveness kept distinct from forensic justification | Human theologian |
| 2:14 | Reconciliation through the Cross (handwriting of debt) | 2:14 | High | ঋণের দলিল — legal/forensic image of the cross cancelling humanity’s debt; ক্রুশ | Human theologian |
| 2:15 | Subordination of Cosmic Powers to Christ | 2:15 (“disarmed the rulers and authorities… triumphed over them”) | Critical | নিরস্ত্র করা / বিজয় প্রদর্শন করা; আধিপত্য/ক্ষমতা recur a third time | Human theologian |
| 2:16 | Warning against False Teaching and Syncretism (sabbath/festival/new moon) | 2:16 | Critical | বিশ্রামবার/পর্ব/অমাবস্যা — অমাবস্যা carries independent Hindu lunar-ritual significance (e.g., Kali Puja); note required to anchor to Jewish ceremonial calendar only | Human theologian |
| 2:17 | Warning against False Teaching and Syncretism (shadow) | 2:17 | Medium | ছায়া — linear OT-shadow/NT-reality sense, distinguished from cyclical/illusory māyā philosophy; দেহ here in its “substance/reality” sense | Native speaker |
| 2:18 | Warning against Worship of Angels / Intermediary Spiritual Beings | 2:18 | High | স্বর্গদূতদের উপাসনা — parallels shrine-based pir veneration and minor-deity/ancestor-spirit worship; requires native-speaker cultural framing alongside theological correction | Human theologian |
| 2:18 | Christ as Head of the Church | 2:18 (“not holding fast to the Head”) | High | মস্তক — third occurrence, reinforcing organic dependence | Human theologian |
| 2:19 | Christ as Head of the Church | 2:19 | High | Body “grows with a growth that is from God” — মস্তক/দেহ organic-life imagery | Human theologian |
| 2:20 | Union with Christ / Subordination of Cosmic Powers | 2:20 (“died with Christ to the elemental spirits”) | Critical | জগতের মূলতত্ত্ব recurs; compounded with union-with-Christ death language | Human theologian |
| 2:21–23 | Warning against False Teaching and Syncretism (asceticism, self-made religion, humility negative sense) | 2:21–23 | Critical / Medium | স্ব-রচিত উপাসনা (ascetic parallel to tapasya); নম্রতা here in its negative, false-ascetic sense (contrast 3:12) | Human theologian |

Total doctrines: 29 (Critical: 12, High: 8, Medium: 7, Low: 2) — exactly matching assets/doctrine_risk_registry.json risk_summary. Every chapter of Colossians (1–4) is represented; no section was silently omitted. Sections with no independent doctrinal load (e.g., closing personal greetings 4:7–17 beyond the ministry-role terms already tracked) are explicitly marked above as reviewed under Christ-Centered Ministry / Church as God’s People rather than left unaddressed.

Critical Risk Doctrines
Deity of Christ
Bengali name: খ্রীষ্টের ঈশ্বরত্ব
Key terms: deity, fullness, bodily, image of the invisible God
Review routing: Human theologian
ঈশ্বরত্ব (2:9’s ‘fullness of deity’) is the sharpest single Christological claim in Colossians; a soft rendering toward ‘godlike’ or ‘divine-ish’ would concede ground to both the Hindu framework of Christ as one avatar/emanation among many and the Islamic framework of Christ as a created prophet. পূর্ণতা must never be read as ‘partial manifestation,’ which would directly reopen the Gnostic-adjacent heresy Paul is refuting.
Fullness of Deity in Christ Bodily
Bengali name: খ্রীষ্টে দেহে ঈশ্বরত্বের পূর্ণতা
Key terms: fullness, deity, bodily, dwell
Review routing: Human theologian
This is the doctrinal core the curriculum names explicitly. পূর্ণতা + ঈশ্বরত্ব + দৈহিকভাবে + স্থায়ীভাবে বসবাস করা (permanently dwell) must together foreclose every available Bengali syncretistic reading: Christ as one Gnostic-adjacent emanation among many (পূর্ণতা alone), Christ as merely ‘divine-ish’ (ঈশ্বরত্ব softened), Christ’s deity as illusory or docetic (দৈহিকভাবে softened), or Christ’s indwelling as a temporary avatar-style visitation (কাটোইকেও softened). Any single weak link collapses the entire doctrinal claim.
Incarnation — Fullness of Deity in Christ Bodily
Bengali name: দেহে দেহধারণকৃত ঈশ্বরত্বের পূর্ণতা
Key terms: bodily, incarnation, deity, fullness
Review routing: Human theologian
দৈহিকভাবে must be read with the baseline’s দেহধারণ entry, which explicitly forbids অবতার (a Hindu deity’s temporary, repeatable descent). Colossians 2:9 is the passage where this risk is most acute in the entire curriculum, since it explicitly joins ‘fullness,’ ‘deity,’ and ‘bodily’ in a single clause — any weakening of any one term collapses the whole claim into an avatar-compatible reading.
Lordship of Christ
Bengali name: খ্রীষ্টের প্রভুত্ব
Key terms: lord, master, Lord Jesus Christ
Review routing: Human theologian
Colossians uniquely applies κύριος to both Christ and human slave-masters within the same passage (3:22-4:1). If প্রভু is used for human masters even once, Christ’s exclusive, supreme Lordship is diluted into one honorific shared with ordinary human authority figures. প্রভু must be reserved exclusively for Christ; human masters must be রেন্ডার্ড মালিক without exception.
Preeminence of Christ (Firstborn — Rank, Not Chronology)
Bengali name: খ্রীষ্টের প্রাধান্য (প্রথমজাত অর্থে পদাধিকার, জন্মক্রম নয়)
Key terms: firstborn, before all things, preeminent, firstborn from the dead
Review routing: Human theologian
প্রথমজাত’s chronological surface meaning is the single most exploitable Bengali mistranslation risk for undermining Christ’s eternal preexistence, since it can be independently misread by both Hindu-avatar frameworks (Christ as one divine figure who appeared at a point in cosmic time) and skeptical/Arian-adjacent readings (Christ as the first created being). Every occurrence requires the corrective anchor of 1:17’s ‘before all things.‘
Reconciliation through the Cross
Bengali name: ক্রুশের দ্বারা মিলন
Key terms: reconcile, making peace, blood, cross, handwriting of debt
Review routing: Human theologian
মিলন is the established rendering but must retain the passage’s cosmic scope (‘all things,’ τὰ πάντα) rather than being narrowed to interpersonal reconciliation, which would sever the doctrine from its grounding of Christ’s supremacy over all creation (1:15-17). ক্রুশ has no viable substitute but risks doctrinal dilution if treated as generic suffering/martyrdom imagery rather than the specific atoning event.
Sonship of Christ
Bengali name: খ্রীষ্টের পুত্রত্ব
Key terms: son of God, beloved Son, kingdom of his beloved Son
Review routing: Human theologian
As in the Romans baseline, Muslim-background readers frequently hear ‘Son of God’ as a literal biological claim, which Islamic theology forcefully rejects; ঈশ্বরের পুত্র requires a translator note clarifying the relational, eternal (not biological) sense, particularly since Colossians frames this Sonship immediately alongside ‘redemption’ and ‘forgiveness of sins’ (1:13-14), compounding the doctrinal weight carried by this single verse.
Subordination of Cosmic Powers to Christ
Bengali name: মহাজাগতিক শক্তিসমূহের খ্রীষ্টের অধীনতা
Key terms: elemental spirits, thrones, dominions, rulers, authorities, worship of angels
Review routing: Human theologian
স্টোইখেইয়া (elemental spirits) is exceptionally hazardous: a literal rendering using ভূত collides with the ordinary Bengali meaning ‘ghost,’ while any echo of Hindu cosmology’s named পঞ্চভূত (‘five elements’) doctrine would wrongly equate Paul’s polemic with an unrelated cosmological category. The fourfold list of created spiritual powers (thrones/dominions/rulers/authorities) and the warning against angel-worship directly confront Bengali readers’ inherited practices of venerating intermediary spiritual beings — deities, pirs, ancestor-spirits — making doctrinal precision essential to avoid either trivializing or over-literalizing these powers.
Sufficiency of Christ’s Atonement
Bengali name: খ্রীষ্টের প্রায়শ্চিত্তের পূর্ণতা ও সম্পূর্ণতা
Key terms: fullness, sufferings of Christ, filling up what is lacking
Review routing: Human theologian
খ্রীষ্টের দুঃখভোগ (1:24, ‘filling up what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions’) is acutely vulnerable to misreading as implying Christ’s atoning work was incomplete and requires human supplementation — a direct contradiction of ‘fullness of deity… in him’ (1:19; 2:9-10). This is a distinctively Colossians-specific risk not present in the Romans baseline and requires a mandatory translator note distinguishing Paul’s shared gospel-ministry suffering from atoning merit.
Supremacy of Christ over Creation
Bengali name: সৃষ্টির উপরে খ্রীষ্টের প্রাধান্য
Key terms: image, firstborn, creation, before all things, thrones, dominions, rulers, authorities
Review routing: Human theologian
প্রতিমূর্তি shares its root মূর্তি with the Hindu worshipped idol/statue, risking a demotion of Christ to a religious icon rather than God’s exact personal representation. প্রথমজাত literally suggests birth-order and risks being read as ‘the first thing God made’ (an Arian/Jehovah’s-Witness-adjacent reading), directly contradicted only by the careful rendering of 1:17’s ‘before all things.’ Both risks compound: a Bengali reader could reconstruct Christ as one created divine figure among many cosmic powers rather than their sovereign Creator.
Union with Christ (Died and Raised With Him)
Bengali name: খ্রীষ্টের সঙ্গে মিলন (তাঁর সঙ্গে মৃত ও উত্থিত)
Key terms: raised with Christ, died with Christ, buried with him in baptism, circumcision of Christ, hidden with Christ in God
Review routing: Human theologian
The co-resurrection language (সহ-পুনরুত্থান) must retain পুনরুত্থান’s bodily, historical, once-for-all force even when compounded with a co-/together- prefix; any drift toward পুনর্জন্ম-adjacent phrasing would recast union with Christ as a cycle of spiritual rebirths rather than a single, decisive, shared historical event. Spiritual circumcision (2:11) additionally risks conflation with Islamic khatna identity-marking if not clearly distinguished as Paul’s own metaphor for union with Christ’s death.
Warning against False Teaching and Syncretism
Bengali name: ভ্রান্ত শিক্ষা ও ধর্মসংমিশ্রণের বিরুদ্ধে সতর্কীকরণ
Key terms: philosophy, elemental spirits, mystery, knowledge, wisdom, asceticism, worship of angels, shadow
Review routing: Human theologian
This entire polemic sits directly on top of live Bengali religious structures: জ্ঞান overlaps with Vedantic jñāna (liberating self-realization knowledge); নিগূঢ়তত্ত্ব risks equivalence with Tantric esoteric secret-knowledge (গুপ্ত সাধনা); দর্শনশাস্ত্র names actual Indian philosophical schools; স্ব-রচিত উপাসনা parallels ascetic tapasya; স্বর্গদূতদের উপাসনা parallels pir/deity veneration; অমাবস্যা names an active Hindu lunar ritual day. Each collision point independently threatens to make Paul’s specific historical polemic sound like a blanket condemnation of Bengali religious traditions rather than a targeted correction of one syncretistic system.
High Risk Doctrines
Adoption and Inheritance in Christ
Bengali name: খ্রীষ্টে দত্তকপুত্রতা ও উত্তরাধিকার
Key terms: inheritance of the saints, reward of the inheritance
Review routing: Human theologian
উত্তরাধিকার must be read with the baseline’s দত্তকপুত্রতা entry to guard against a reading shaped by traditional Bengali family hierarchy, in which an heir’s inheritance-share could be assumed partial or provisional rather than full and secure.
Christ as Head of the Church
Bengali name: মণ্ডলীর মস্তক রূপে খ্রীষ্ট
Key terms: head, body, church
Review routing: Human theologian
মস্তক must convey an organic, life-giving governing headship, not a merely honorary or elected ‘leader’ (নেতা), which would reduce the church to a voluntary human association rather than Christ’s living body deriving its growth directly from him (2:19). The same word দেহ must also carry two other distinct senses elsewhere in the book (literal body, and ‘substance/reality’), creating a real risk of doctrinal blur if not disambiguated per occurrence.
Household Codes
Bengali name: গৃহস্থ জীবনের বিধান
Key terms: submit, love your wives, obey your parents, fathers do not provoke, bondservants obey, masters, Lord in heaven
Review routing: Human theologian
বশীভূত হওয়া must retain Paul’s qualifying phrase ‘as is fitting in the Lord’ and the paired command to husbands to love (3:19), given that both Bengali Hindu and Muslim household norms carry strong pre-existing patriarchal expectations that could either overstate the submission command into unqualified subjugation or, in over-correction, erase its actual asymmetric address. Additionally, the κύριος/প্রভু-মালিক distinction (Christ vs. human masters, 3:22-4:1) must be rigorously maintained so Christ’s exclusive Lordship is never shared with a human slave-owner’s authority.
Mystery of the Gospel Revealed
Bengali name: সুসমাচারের নিগূঢ়তত্ত্বের উদ্ভাসন
Key terms: mystery, Christ in you, revealed to the saints
Review routing: Human theologian
নিগূঢ়তত্ত্ব or গোপন সত্য must be framed as now openly proclaimed to every believer, the opposite of Bengal’s Tantric esoteric tradition of secret knowledge reserved for initiated adepts (গুপ্ত সাধনা); an unqualified rendering risks implying Christianity, too, guards an initiatory secret.
Putting Off the Old Self and Putting On the New
Bengali name: পুরাতন মানুষকে ত্যাগ ও নতুন মানুষকে গ্রহণ
Key terms: old self, new self, renewed in knowledge, image of the Creator
Review routing: Human theologian
পুরাতন মানুষ / নতুন মানুষ risk being assimilated to a Hindu-philosophical framework of shedding an illusory self (māyā) to uncover an underlying true divine Self (Atman) — a superficially similar but doctrinally opposite concept, since the biblical old self is real and is put to death (not illusory and merely transcended), and the new self is a fresh creation, not an uncovering of latent divinity. The 3:10 echo of প্রতিমূর্তি (1:15) also risks being conflated with the negated term মূর্তিপূজা (3:5) if not carefully distinguished.
Sanctification and Holy Living
Bengali name: পবিত্রীকরণ ও পবিত্র জীবনযাপন
Key terms: holy and blameless, put to death what is earthly, seek the things above
Review routing: Human theologian
পবিত্র must retain the Spirit’s ongoing moral-relational sanctifying work, distinct from Hindu ritual purification (shuddhi) or Islamic ritual cleanliness (taharah); the ‘put to death’ / ‘seek things above’ language of 3:1-5 additionally risks conflation with ascetic renunciation practices (sannyasa) rather than being understood as union-with-Christ-grounded transformation.
Spiritual Circumcision and New Covenant Identity
Bengali name: আত্মিক ত্বকছেদ ও নতুন নিয়মের পরিচয়
Key terms: circumcision of Christ, circumcision made without hands
Review routing: Human theologian
ত্বকছেদ risks being read through the lens of সুন্নত/খাতনা, the everyday Bengali Muslim term strongly tied to Islamic male identity-completion; a translator note is required to clarify Paul intends a spiritual rite accomplished by Christ himself, categorically distinct from any physical rite in either Jewish or Islamic practice.
Warning against Worship of Angels / Intermediary Spiritual Beings
Bengali name: স্বর্গদূত ও মধ্যস্থ আত্মিক সত্তার উপাসনার বিরুদ্ধে সতর্কীকরণ
Key terms: worship of angels, disqualify you, not holding fast to the Head
Review routing: Human theologian
স্বর্গদূতদের উপাসনা names a practice structurally identical to widespread Bengali folk-religious veneration of intermediary spiritual beings — shrine-based petitioning of pirs in folk Islam, and minor deities/ancestor-spirits in folk Hinduism — making this one of the most pastorally live warnings in the book; native-speaker cultural framing is required alongside the theological correction to avoid either giving offense or losing the force of the warning.
Medium Risk Doctrines
Baptism as Union with Christ’s Death and Resurrection
Bengali name: খ্রীষ্টের মৃত্যু ও পুনরুত্থানের সাথে বাপ্তিস্মে একীভূত হওয়া
Key terms: baptism, buried with him, raised with him
Review routing: Native speaker review
বাপ্তিস্ম, the established loanword, must not be conflated with স্নান-style ritual purification bathing common in Hindu religious practice; the doctrinal weight rests more on the accompanying resurrection/union language (handled under Critical entries above) than on this term itself.
Christ-Centered Ministry
Bengali name: খ্রীষ্টকেন্দ্রিক সেবাকাজ
Key terms: stewardship, struggling for you, servant of Christ, fellow prisoner, open door for the word
Review routing: Native speaker review
ব্যবস্থাপনা and related ministry terms must be kept anchored to gospel proclamation rather than drifting toward the register of purely humanitarian NGO-style development work, a real risk given how much Bengali Christian institutional presence is expressed through such work.
Christian Ethics — New Self Virtue List
Bengali name: নতুন মানুষের গুণাবলি
Key terms: compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, patience, forgiving one another, love
Review routing: Native speaker review
Individually low-risk virtue terms (kindness, patience, meekness) combine here with the higher-risk terms নম্রতা (dual-sense humility) and প্রেম (bhakti-romantic collision risk); native-speaker review ensures the whole virtue list reads coherently as one Christ-grounded character, not a generic universal ethical list.
Church as God’s People
Bengali name: ঈশ্বরের প্রজা রূপে মণ্ডলী
Key terms: church, body of Christ, saints, house church
Review routing: Native speaker review
মণ্ডলী must be read consistently as the new covenant community gathered in homes across Laodicea and Colossae, not a caste-segregated assembly or a purely ritual institution.
Kingdom of the Beloved Son
Bengali name: প্রিয় পুত্রের রাজ্য
Key terms: kingdom of his beloved Son, kingdom of God
Review routing: Native speaker review
ঈশ্বরের রাজ্য / প্রিয় পুত্রের রাজ্য must retain the sense of God’s sovereign spiritual reign specifically located in Christ, not a political or territorial kingdom — a sensitive association to avoid given Bangladesh and West Bengal’s religiously plural nation-state contexts.
Prayer and Intercession
Bengali name: প্রার্থনা ও মধ্যস্থতা
Key terms: praying always, struggling in prayer, open door for the word
Review routing: Native speaker review
Extends the baseline’s prayer_and_intercession framework; must remain direct access to God in Christ’s name, distinguished from Hindu puja ritual worship and from shrine-based folk practice of seeking intercession from a pir or saint’s tomb.
Universal Accountability and No Partiality
Bengali name: সার্বজনীন দায়বদ্ধতা ও পক্ষপাতহীনতা
Key terms: no Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, no partiality, wrongdoer will be paid back
Review routing: Native speaker review
Extends the baseline’s universal_human_accountability doctrine into the household-code context; must retain full social-leveling force rather than being softened for readers whose social context (caste residue in West Bengal, communal religious hierarchy in Bangladesh) presumes rank-based exceptions to accountability.
Low Risk Doctrines
Christian Fellowship and Corporate Worship
Bengali name: খ্রীষ্টীয় সহভাগিতা ও সমবেত উপাসনা
Key terms: psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, teaching and admonishing one another
Review routing: Automated review
Standard low-risk vocabulary (গীত, স্তোত্র, আত্মিক সঙ্গীত); minor risk of over-formalizing what Paul describes as mutual, communal teaching.
Thanksgiving
Bengali name: ধন্যবাদ
Key terms: give thanks, thanksgiving, abounding in thanksgiving
Review routing: Automated review
Standard established term; minor risk of over-ritualization, consistent with the Romans baseline assessment.
