Cross-Reference Analysis

09 — Cross-Reference Analysis: 2 Timothy

Citation Normalization Convention

All citations in this document use the normalized form BookName chapter:verse with the book’s standard English name and Arabic numerals (e.g., Galatians 2:16, Genesis 15:6, 2 Timothy 4:8), matching the convention already established in the Romans baseline’s 12_ai_translation_requirements.md Cross-Reference Preservation Rules. When citations surface in final Bengali-facing curriculum text, they must be rendered per the baseline’s Bengali book-name conventions (e.g., Romans → রোমীয়, Genesis → আদিপুস্তক, Psalms → গীতসংহিতা, Isaiah → যিশাইয়) with Arabic numerals retained for verse numbers. For 2 Timothy itself, the established Bengali form is ২ তীমথিয় (2 Timothiyo); for books newly relevant to this curriculum and not already listed in the baseline, the following forms are established here for consistency:

Methodology

This matrix covers every explicit OT quotation, clear allusion, messianic reference, and typological pattern identified across all four chapters of 2 Timothy, plus every direct parallel to the Romans baseline curriculum. Where a chapter section contains no additional load-bearing cross-reference beyond what is already logged, that section is marked “reviewed — no further items” rather than omitted. Passages within the core passage (3:14–4:5) are included in the chapter-level matrix (not only the standalone doctrinal treatment already given in 07_semantic_analysis.md), because full-book coverage must not treat the core passage’s cross-references as already exhausted.

PART 1 — Chapter-by-Chapter Cross-Reference Matrix

Chapter 1 (2 Timothy 1:1–18)

PassageThemeRelated CharacterOT/NT ConnectionTranslation Sensitivity
2 Timothy 1:5Faithful Transmission of the GospelTimothy, Lois, EuniceDeuteronomy 6:6-7 (teach the commandments diligently to your children)Low. Confirms the intergenerational-transmission pattern; no direct quotation, so no forced Bengali equivalence required, but should be cross-noted with the “faithful men” transmission chain of 2 Timothy 2:2.
2 Timothy 1:6Faithful Transmission of the GospelPaul, TimothyNumbers 27:18-20; Deuteronomy 34:9 (Moses commissions Joshua by laying on of hands)Medium. হাত রাখার মাধ্যমে (laying on of hands) should be understood as an ordination-succession act with OT precedent, not a charismatic/folk-healing gesture; a brief note preventing conflation with folk-religious hand-laying practices familiar in both Hindu and Muslim popular piety in Bengal is advisable.
2 Timothy 1:7The Charge to Preach the Word (courage)TimothyIsaiah 11:2 (Spirit of the LORD: wisdom, counsel, might — structurally similar triadic Spirit-endowment); NT parallel 1 John 4:18Low. No direct quotation; thematic echo only.
2 Timothy 1:8Perseverance under SufferingPaul, TimothyRomans 1:16 (direct parallel: “I am not ashamed of the gospel”)High. Both passages use ἐπαισχύνομαι shame-vocabulary. The Bengali rendering লজ্জিত (না) হওয়া established at 2 Timothy 1:8/1:12/1:16 should be checked against however Romans 1:16 rendered “not ashamed” in Phase 2 output, to keep the honor/shame vocabulary identical across both curricula.
2 Timothy 1:9-10Assurance of Reward / Grace (baseline cross-ref)Paul, Timothy, all believersRomans 8:28-30; Romans 9:11; Romans 4:4-5; Romans 11:5-6 (grace-not-works, calling-by-purpose); Titus 3:5; Ephesians 2:8-9Critical. This is the same grace-versus-works antithesis structure the baseline flags as Critical in Romans 4 and 11. অনুগ্রহ vs. কাজ (never কর্ম) phrasing MUST match the Romans rendering pattern exactly.
2 Timothy 1:10Perseverance under Suffering / Assurance of RewardChristIsaiah 25:8 (“he will swallow up death forever”); Hosea 13:14; NT parallel 1 Corinthians 15:54-57High. অক্ষয়তা (incorruption) rendering already flagged Critical/High in 08_core_glossary.md #50; the OT background (death swallowed up, not innate soul-immortality) reinforces the rejection of অমরত্ব.
2 Timothy 1:12Assurance of RewardPaulThematic echo of Job 19:25 (“I know that my Redeemer lives”) and Psalm 56:3-4 (trust amid affliction)Low. No direct quotation; general assurance-under-suffering motif.
2 Timothy 1:16-18Perseverance under Suffering / Faithful TransmissionOnesiphorus, PaulEschatological “that day” language echoes OT Day-of-the-LORD motif (Joel 2:1; Malachi 4:1); NT parallel Romans 2:16 (“the day when God judges”)Medium. “That day” (ঐ দিনে) must be understood as the final judgment day consistent with Romans 2:16’s usage, not a generic future date.

Chapter 2 (2 Timothy 2:1–26)

PassageThemeRelated CharacterOT/NT ConnectionTranslation Sensitivity
2 Timothy 2:2Faithful Transmission of the GospelPaul, Timothy, “faithful men”Deuteronomy 6:7; Psalm 78:5-7 (teach to the next generation); typological pattern of Moses → Joshua → elders (Deuteronomy 31:7-8; Joshua 1:1-9)Medium. বিশ্বস্ত মানুষ (trustworthy people, #57 in glossary) names a multi-generational transmission chain paralleling the Mosaic succession pattern; useful teaching cross-reference, low doctrinal-collision risk.
2 Timothy 2:3-6Perseverance under SufferingTimothyNT parallel Ephesians 6:10-17 (armor of God); 1 Corinthians 9:24-27; 9:7-10 (athlete, farmer); Deuteronomy 25:4 (ox treading grain, quoted at 1 Corinthians 9:9)Low-Medium. Vocational metaphors are culturally transparent in Bengali agrarian/athletic contexts; no syncretism risk identified.
2 Timothy 2:8Messianic Promise / Resurrection of Christ / Davidic CovenantJesus Christ, DavidRomans 1:3-4 (direct doctrinal parallel — identical seed-of-David + resurrection pairing); OT roots: 2 Samuel 7:12-16; Psalm 89:3-4; Isaiah 11:1,10; Jeremiah 23:5Critical. This is the single most important cross-reference in the book to the Romans baseline. দায়ূদের বংশ and পুনরুত্থান MUST be rendered identically to Romans 1:3-4’s established Bengali text. Any deviation here fractures the curriculum’s christological consistency.
2 Timothy 2:11-13Assurance of Reward / Perseverance under SufferingPaul, all believers, Christ”Died with him, live with him”: Romans 6:8; “endure, reign with him”: Revelation 3:21, Romans 8:17; “deny him, he denies us”: Matthew 10:33, Luke 12:9; “faithless, he remains faithful”: Numbers 23:19, Romans 3:3-4High. The fourth couplet directly parallels Romans 3:3-4’s argument that God’s faithfulness does not depend on human faithfulness. বিশ্বস্ত (God’s own faithfulness) must be kept distinct from বিশ্বাস/বিশ্বাসী (human believing) in both curricula per the baseline’s Faith doctrine object-specificity rule.
2 Timothy 2:19aAssurance of RewardDirect OT quotation: Numbers 16:5 (LXX), “the Lord knows those who are his”High. This is a genuine OT quotation, not merely an allusion. Render with the same বিশ্বাস/আহুত-adjacent assurance vocabulary already established for effectual calling (baseline High risk) — this text underwrites the doctrine that God’s knowledge of his own is secure despite surrounding apostasy (2:18’s Hymenaeus/Philetus).
2 Timothy 2:19bGuarding Sound DoctrineAllusive quotation combining Numbers 16:26 and Isaiah 26:13 (“let everyone who names the name of the Lord depart from iniquity”)Medium. Treat as a fixed apostolic exhortation formula; no single perfect Bengali OT source-text exists to copy verbatim, so render for clarity while flagging for native-speaker review against any existing Bengali OT rendering of Numbers 16:26.
2 Timothy 2:19cAssurance of RewardIsaiah 28:16 (the sure foundation/cornerstone); NT parallel 1 Corinthians 3:10-11Medium. ঈশ্বরের ভিত্তি অটল থাকে (“God’s foundation stands firm,” glossary #71) echoes the sure-foundation motif; no direct quotation forcing verbatim reuse, but thematically load-bearing for Assurance of Reward.
2 Timothy 2:20-21Guarding Sound Doctrine / Sanctification (baseline cross-ref)Romans 9:21 (potter’s right over the clay — direct parallel image); OT root: Jeremiah 18:1-6High. The vessel/clay image (পাত্র) is shared with Romans 9:21, but the theological application differs: Romans 9 uses it for God’s sovereign right in election; 2 Timothy 2 uses it for a believer’s self-purification for honorable use. This distinction must be preserved with a translator note; the two applications must never be collapsed into one doctrine.
2 Timothy 2:22Guarding Sound DoctrineTimothyNT parallel Romans 14:19 (pursue peace and mutual edification); Galatians 5:22-23High. ধার্মিকতা, বিশ্বাস, শান্তি (righteousness, faith, peace) are all baseline REUSE terms (Critical/Critical/Medium); this verse is a compact re-statement of core baseline vocabulary and must show zero deviation.
2 Timothy 2:24-25Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last DaysTimothyNT parallel Romans 2:4 (God’s kindness leads to repentance)Medium. মন-পরিবর্তন (repentance, glossary #75) here is God-granted (δῷ, “God may perhaps grant repentance”), not self-generated remorse — must not be reduced to mere regret.

Chapter 3 — Section 1 (2 Timothy 3:1–13)

PassageThemeRelated CharacterOT/NT ConnectionTranslation Sensitivity
2 Timothy 3:1Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last DaysIsaiah 2:2; Micah 4:1 (“last days” as an eschatological technical phrase); Joel 2:28-29 quoted at Acts 2:17; NT parallel 1 Timothy 4:1, James 5:3, 1 John 2:18High. শেষ কালে (“in the last days”) must be taught as the present, inaugurated church age (already flagged High in glossary #79), consistent with Acts 2:17’s use of the same Joel-derived phrase for the church’s entire present era.
2 Timothy 3:2-5Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last DaysRomans 1:29-31 (direct parallel vice list); Matthew 24:12 (“love will grow cold”)Medium (cumulative). The vice-list genre itself is shared with Romans 1; where individual Bengali vice-terms overlap with Romans 1:29-31’s list (e.g., অহংকারী, নিন্দুক), reuse Romans’ existing renderings rather than coining new ones.
2 Timothy 3:5Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last DaysIsaiah 29:13 (quoted at Matthew 15:8 / Mark 7:6 — “honor me with lips, hearts far from me”); NT parallel Romans 2:17-24 (boasting in the law while dishonoring God)High. “Form of godliness, denying its power” (ভক্তি…সামর্থ্য) directly echoes the lip-service-without-heart theme of Isaiah 29:13/Romans 2; reinforces the ভক্তি caution already flagged High in the glossary (#82) — the outward-form-only warning is precisely the risk Bengali bhakti-devotionalism’s external ritual expression could obscure if not anchored to the true God.
2 Timothy 3:6-7Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days”weak women,” false teachersTypological echo of Genesis 3:1-6 (the serpent’s deceptive approach)Medium. Present as typological pattern (deceptive approach exploiting vulnerability), not a genealogical or exegetical claim; avoid any rendering that could read as a blanket claim about women’s spiritual capacity — Paul’s target is deceivers exploiting specific vulnerable individuals, not a general statement about women.
2 Timothy 3:8-9Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last DaysJannes, Jambres, MosesDirect typological reference to Exodus 7:11-12, 7:22, 8:18-19 (the unnamed Egyptian magicians who opposed Moses; names supplied by extra-biblical Jewish tradition)High. Present Jannes/Jambres explicitly as a type: opposition-to-God’s-messenger pattern repeating in the last days. A translator/teaching note should clarify these names derive from post-biblical Jewish tradition applied to the unnamed Exodus 7 figures, so Bengali readers do not search Exodus expecting to find the names in the text itself.
2 Timothy 3:11Perseverance under SufferingPaulHistorical narrative parallel: Acts 13:14–14:20 (Antioch, Iconium, Lystra persecutions); direct OT echo: Psalm 34:19 (“many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him out of them all”)High. “The Lord rescued me from them all” should echo Psalm 34:19’s rescue-vocabulary consistently with however Psalm 34:19 has been rendered in the established Bengali OT, if available; native-speaker check recommended.
2 Timothy 3:12Perseverance under Sufferingall godly believersNT parallel John 15:20; Matthew 5:10-12; 2 Corinthians 4:8-9; Romans 8:17 (share in his sufferings)High. Universal claim (“all who desire to live godly…will be persecuted”) — per the baseline’s universality-preservation rule (already applied to Romans 3:23/10:12-13), this must not be softened for social comfort.
2 Timothy 3:13Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last Days”evil people and impostors”General prophetic decline motif (cf. Isaiah 5:20-23; Micah 7:2-4)Low. Thematic parallel only; no direct quotation.

Chapter 3 — Section 2 / Chapter 4 — Section 1: The Core Passage (2 Timothy 3:14–4:5)

PassageThemeRelated CharacterOT/NT ConnectionTranslation Sensitivity
2 Timothy 3:14-15Faithful Transmission of the Gospel / Inspiration of ScriptureTimothy, Lois, EunicePsalm 119:9-11 (word hidden in the heart from youth); Deuteronomy 6:6-7; Proverbs 22:6Medium. Reinforces the childhood-formation theme already logged at 1:5; no direct quotation.
2 Timothy 3:16Inspiration and Sufficiency of ScriptureNT parallel 2 Peter 1:20-21 (“no prophecy… men spoke from God”); Romans 15:4 (“whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction”)Critical. Romans 15:4 is the baseline’s nearest doctrinal statement on Scripture’s abiding usefulness (cited under Fulfillment of Prophecy in doctrine_risk_registry.json). Any teaching material on 2 Timothy 3:16 should cross-cite Romans 15:4 explicitly, and both must consistently use পবিত্রশাস্ত্র for “Scripture.”
2 Timothy 4:1The Charge to Preach the WordChrist (as judge)Acts 10:42; 1 Peter 4:5; Psalm 96:13; Psalm 98:9 (God judges the world in righteousness); NT parallel Romans 2:16; Romans 14:10-12 (judgment seat, each gives account)High. জীবিত ও মৃতদের বিচার করা (judge the living and the dead) must be taught alongside Romans 14:10-12’s judgment-seat teaching as the same personal, Christ-centered final accountability — not an impersonal reckoning.
2 Timothy 4:2The Charge to Preach the WordTimothyProphetic-commissioning parallels: Jonah 3:2; Jeremiah 1:17; Ezekiel 3:17 (watchman motif); NT parallel Romans 10:14-15, itself quoting Isaiah 52:7 (“how beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news”)Critical. বচন প্রচার কর (“preach the word”) is this curriculum’s central charge verb (glossary #8, Critical). It shares its herald/proclamation root with Romans 10:14-15’s quotation of Isaiah 52:7. Keep বচন প্রচার কর (2 Timothy’s specific imperative) and সুসমাচার প্রচার (Romans’ general mission-noun) distinct in form while acknowledging their shared theological root — see Rendering-Consistency Rule 9 below.
2 Timothy 4:3-4Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last DaysDirect OT parallel: Jeremiah 5:31; Jeremiah 23:16-17 (false prophets speaking from their own minds, proclaiming false “peace”); Isaiah 30:9-11 (“speak to us smooth things”); typological parallel 1 Kings 22:5-8 (court prophets telling the king what he wants to hear)High. “Itching ears” (কান চুলকানো) should be taught with these OT false-prophet texts as background — the phenomenon of teacher-shopping for flattering messages is not a modern novelty but a recurring biblical pattern; this strengthens rather than isolates the doctrine.
2 Timothy 4:5The Charge to Preach the Word / Faithful Transmission of the GospelTimothyRomans 10:15 (Isaiah 52:7 herald image, as above)High. সুসমাচার প্রচারক (“evangelist,” glossary #22) is etymologically and thematically the fulfillment-role of Romans 10:15’s “sent” preacher; cross-reference explicitly in teaching material without merging the two curricula’s distinct terms.

Chapter 4 — Section 2 (2 Timothy 4:6–22)

PassageThemeRelated CharacterOT/NT ConnectionTranslation Sensitivity
2 Timothy 4:6Assurance of RewardPaulOT ritual background: Numbers 28:7 (drink/libation offering); NT parallel Philippians 2:17High. উৎসর্গরূপে ঢেলে দেওয়া must be anchored explicitly to the Numbers 28 drink-offering background (already flagged in glossary #92) rather than any Hindu ritual libation (tarpan) practice.
2 Timothy 4:7Perseverance under Suffering / Assurance of RewardPaulNT parallel 1 Corinthians 9:24-27; Hebrews 12:1-2; Acts 20:24 (Paul’s earlier self-description, “finish the course”)High. The athlete/race metaphor triad is Paul’s own consistent self-testimony across Acts and his letters; teaching material should note the continuity from Acts 20:24 to this final summary.
2 Timothy 4:8Assurance of RewardChrist (as righteous judge), all believersNT parallel 1 Corinthians 9:25; James 1:12; 1 Peter 5:4; Revelation 2:10 (crown imagery network); OT background Psalm 58:11 (“there is a reward for the righteous”); Isaiah 40:10 (“his reward is with him”)Critical. ধার্মিকতার মুকুট uses the baseline’s Critical-risk ধার্মিকতা. A mandatory teaching note distinguishing this eschatological reward-for-perseverance from Romans’ forensic once-for-all justification (ধার্মিক বলে গণ্য হওয়া) is required — see glossary #95 and Rendering-Consistency Rule 6 below.
2 Timothy 4:10Apostasy and False Teachers in the Last DaysDemasCautionary-example parallel; no direct OT quotation. Thematic contrast with 4:8’s “loved his appearing.”High. বর্তমান জগৎ (not বর্তমান যুগ) — see glossary #98’s rejection of যুগ for its Hindu cyclical-cosmology (four yugas) collision risk.
2 Timothy 4:14Assurance of RewardAlexander the coppersmith, PaulDirect OT quotation pattern: Psalm 62:12; Proverbs 24:12 (“repay according to deeds”); NT parallel Romans 12:19, itself quoting Deuteronomy 32:35 (“vengeance is mine, I will repay”)High. Different OT source texts (Psalm 62/Proverbs 24 here; Deuteronomy 32:35 in Romans 12:19) but the identical theological principle — committing retribution to God rather than personal vengeance. Render প্রতিফল দেওয়া (repay) consistently across both curricula’s teaching material — see Rendering-Consistency Rule 11.
2 Timothy 4:16-17Perseverance under SufferingPaulTypological parallel: Acts 7:60 (Stephen’s prayer, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them”); Luke 23:34 (Christ’s prayer from the cross)High. Paul’s prayer for those who abandoned him at his defense follows the Christ/Stephen pattern of forgiveness under unjust suffering — present explicitly as a typological chain (Christ → Stephen → Paul) for teaching purposes.
2 Timothy 4:17Perseverance under SufferingPaul, the LordDirect OT allusion, dual background: Daniel 6:22 (Daniel rescued from the lions); Psalm 22:21 (“save me from the mouth of the lion”)Medium. সিংহের মুখ থেকে উদ্ধার পেয়েছি should be taught with both OT backgrounds in view — a literal near-death rescue (echoing Daniel) framed in the Psalmist’s poetic idiom of deliverance.
2 Timothy 4:18Assurance of RewardPaul, the LordPsalm 121:7 (“The LORD will keep you from all evil”); Matthew 6:13 (Lord’s Prayer, “deliver us from evil”); doxology parallel Romans 11:36; Romans 16:27 (“to him be glory forever and ever, amen”)Critical. The doxological formula মহিমা…অনন্তকাল, আমেন MUST match however Romans’ doxologies (11:36, 16:27) were or will be rendered — see Rendering-Consistency Rule 3.
2 Timothy 4:19-21(proper names / greetings)Prisca, Aquila, Onesiphorus, Erastus, Trophimus, Carpus, Eubulus, Pudens, Linus, ClaudiaNo OT/NT quotation; historical/relational content onlyLow. Reviewed — no further cross-reference items. Transliterate per established Bengali Bible proper-name convention.
2 Timothy 4:22Grace (baseline cross-ref)Romans 16:20, 24 (closing grace-benediction formula)Critical. Fixed benediction formula; render identically to Romans’ closing benediction — see Rendering-Consistency Rule 4.

PART 2 — Messianic References

PassageMessianic ContentOT GroundConnection to Romans Baseline
2 Timothy 2:8”Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, the offspring of David”2 Samuel 7:12-16; Psalm 89:3-4; Isaiah 11:1,10; Jeremiah 23:5Direct parallel to Romans 1:3-4 — the exact same two-part messianic argument (Davidic descent + resurrection) anchoring the Messianic Promise, Davidic Covenant, and Resurrection of Christ doctrines. Bengali rendering must be identical to Romans’ in both curricula.
2 Timothy 1:10”the appearing (ἐπιφάνεια) of our Savior Christ Jesus” (past pole: incarnation/earthly ministry)Isaiah 9:6-7; Micah 5:2Bridges to baseline’s Incarnation doctrine (দেহধারণ, Critical) — this is the same singular, historical, unrepeatable appearing, not a cyclical avatar-descent.
2 Timothy 4:1, 4:8”his appearing (ἐπιφάνεια) and his kingdom” (future pole: second coming)Daniel 7:13-14 (Son of Man given an everlasting kingdom); Psalm 2 (messianic king); Malachi 3:1-2, 4:1-2 (day of the LORD, “sun of righteousness”)The same ἐπιφάνεια term used at 1:10 for the past appearing is now used for the future one — one linear messianic event with two historical poles, not a repeating pattern. This distinction must be preserved with a translator note (already flagged High in glossary #7).

PART 3 — Typological Patterns

PART 5 — Rendering-Consistency Rules for Shared Quotations and Formulas

  1. Baseline priority. Any term or formula already established in translation_memory.json (grace, faith, righteousness, resurrection, seed of David, glory, Lord, salvation, calling, etc.) MUST be reused verbatim wherever it recurs in 2 Timothy — no exceptions, per the governing hard rule.
  2. Isaiah 52:7 herald family. Romans 10:14-15’s quotation of Isaiah 52:7 and 2 Timothy 4:2/4:5’s charge-and-office vocabulary share a theological root but are NOT the same grammatical form. Keep বচন প্রচার কর (imperative, 2 Timothy 4:2, Critical), সুসমাচার প্রচারক (office noun, 2 Timothy 4:5, Medium), and সুসমাচার প্রচার (general mission noun, Romans, Medium) each in their own established form; cross-reference their shared root in teaching notes only.
  3. Doxology formula. “To him/whom be glory forever and ever, amen” (Romans 11:36; Romans 16:27; 2 Timothy 4:18) renders identically: তাঁরই মহিমা অনন্তকাল হোক। আমেন। No stylistic variation permitted across documents.
  4. Closing benediction formula. “The Lord be with your spirit; grace be with you” (Romans 16:20, 24; 2 Timothy 4:22) renders identically: প্রভু তোমার/তোমাদের আত্মার সঙ্গে থাকুন। তোমাদের সঙ্গে অনুগ্রহ থাকুক। Adjust only the singular/plural pronoun (তোমার vs. তোমাদের) to match the addressee, never the core formula.
  5. Potter/vessel imagery. পাত্র (vessel) is the shared base noun for Romans 9:21 and 2 Timothy 2:20-21, but every occurrence in teaching material must carry an explicit note distinguishing Romans 9’s sovereign-election application from 2 Timothy 2’s ecclesial self-purification application. The two must never be taught or footnoted as the same doctrine.
  6. Crown of righteousness vs. justification. ধার্মিকতার মুকুট (2 Timothy 4:8) and ধার্মিক বলে গণ্য হওয়া (Romans’ Justification doctrine) both use ধার্মিকতা-family vocabulary but refer to two distinct realities: an eschatological reward for a life of perseverance, versus a once-for-all forensic declaration received by faith alone. A mandatory teaching note must accompany 2 Timothy 4:8 wherever it is taught, clarifying that the crown is not the ground of right standing before God but its future, reward-shaped confirmation.
  7. God’s faithfulness vs. human faith. Wherever πιστός describes God’s own unwavering character (Romans 3:3-4; 2 Timothy 2:13; 2 Timothy 2:19), render বিশ্বস্ত. Reserve বিশ্বাস/বিশ্বাসী strictly for human trust directed at Christ, per the baseline’s Faith-doctrine object-specificity rule. Never let the two Bengali word-families blur into each other across curricula.
  8. Grace-versus-works antithesis. Wherever Scripture explicitly contrasts grace and works (Romans 4:4-5; Romans 11:5-6; 2 Timothy 1:9), use the identical structural phrasing: [কাজ] অনুসারে নয়, বরং [অনুগ্রহ] অনুসারে। Always কাজ, never কর্ম, for “works,” per the baseline’s karma-collision caution.
  9. Isaiah 52:7 / preaching vocabulary — see Rule 2 (duplicated cross-reference for clarity in Phase 2 lookup indexes).
  10. Retribution/repayment. Wherever Scripture commits final retribution to God rather than personal vengeance (Romans 12:19, quoting Deuteronomy 32:35; 2 Timothy 4:14, echoing Psalm 62:12/Proverbs 24:12), render the “repay” verb consistently as প্রতিফল দেওয়া across both curricula, even though the underlying OT source texts differ.
  11. New OT quotations require an OT-translation check. Wherever 2 Timothy quotes or closely echoes an OT text not already rendered by the Romans baseline (e.g., Numbers 16:5 at 2 Timothy 2:19; Psalm 34:19 at 2 Timothy 3:11; Daniel 6:22/Psalm 22:21 at 2 Timothy 4:17), Phase 2 translators must consult the established Bengali Bible Society OT rendering of that verse before finalizing the 2 Timothy text, rather than inventing a fresh translation of the OT wording.
