Cross-Reference Analysis
09 Cross-Reference and Theme Analysis — Revelation, Full Book
Methodology
This matrix covers every Old Testament quotation and allusion identifiable in each chapter of Revelation (1–22), every messianic reference, key typological patterns, and every substantive parallel to the Romans curriculum already localized into Bengali. Citations are given in normalizable form (Book Chapter:Verse, e.g. Genesis 3:15, Isaiah 65:17) so that Phase 2 tooling can machine-match cross-references across curricula. Bengali book-name conventions follow and extend the table already established in 12_ai_translation_requirements.md; new book names required for Revelation’s OT source material are added in Section E below and should be merged into that document’s citation table in Phase 2.
Revelation quotes the Old Testament far more often by allusion and echo than by formal introduced citation (unlike Romans, which frequently uses explicit citation formulae such as “as it is written”). Translators must therefore not expect quotation marks or citation formulae in the Bengali text; the connection is established at the image/phrase level, and footnoting strategy (per the Requirements doc’s [TRANSLATOR NOTE...] convention) is the primary tool for surfacing it to readers.

| Revelation 1:13 | Return and Reign of Christ | Christ, “one like a son of man” | Daniel 7:13 | মনুষ্যপুত্র — cross-refer 07/08 entries; Danielic judgment title, not mere-humanity claim. |

| Revelation 4:8 | Sovereignty of God over History; Worship of the Lamb | Four living creatures | Isaiah 6:3 (Holy, holy, holy) | পবিত্র, পবিত্র, পবিত্র [Romans baseline, High] — Trisagion must be rendered identically to any Isaiah 6 rendering used elsewhere in this Language Package’s OT materials. |

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Revelation 6:1–8 | Sovereignty of God over History; Judgment of the Wicked | Four horsemen | Zechariah 1:8–10, 6:1–8 (four chariots/horses as agents of God’s sovereign action across the earth) | সাদা, লাল, কালো, পাণ্ডুবর্ণ ঘোড়া (horse colors) — standard vocabulary; Symbolic Interpretation doctrine governs: these are agents under God’s permissive sovereignty, not independent cosmic forces. |
| Revelation 6:10 | Judgment of the Wicked and Vindication of the Saints | Martyred souls | Habakkuk 2:3 (how long); Psalm 79:5, 10 (how long, O Lord); Genesis 4:10 (Abel’s blood crying out) | আর কতকাল — same book (হবক্কূক) as Romans 1:17’s Habakkuk 2:4 citation; ensure Bengali book-name form হবক্কূক is used identically across both curricula. |

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Revelation 7:3–8 | Symbolic and Apocalyptic Interpretation; Sovereignty of God over History | 144,000, twelve tribes | Ezekiel 9:4 (seal on the foreheads of those who grieve over sin); Genesis 49 (tribal listing, variant order) | চিহ্নিত করা / সীলমোহর দেওয়া — protective, ownership-marking sense; 144,000 must not be read as a literal exhaustive census (see 7:9’s universal multitude immediately following). |
| Revelation 7:9 | Universal Scope of the Gospel; Unity of Jews and Gentiles | Great multitude, “every nation, tribe, people, and language” | Genesis 12:3 (all nations blessed through Abraham); Isaiah 66:18–21 (nations gathered to see God’s glory) | বিশাল জনতা — direct fulfillment of Romans’ Universal Scope of the Gospel and Unity of Jews and Gentiles doctrines; must retain full universality, unsoftened, consistent with the Requirements doc’s rule against qualifying “all”/“every” language for communal comfort. |

| Revelation Passage | Theme | Related Character(s) | OT/NT Connection | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Revelation 8:5 | Sovereignty of God over History | Angel, incense/prayers | Ezekiel 10:2 (coals from between the cherubim scattered over the city) | See ধূপ Critical mitigation (07/08 analysis) — always render “prayers of the saints” as simile, not bare noun. |
| Revelation 8:7–12 | Judgment of the Wicked; Sovereignty of God over History | Trumpet judgments | Exodus 7–10 (plagues on Egypt: hail/fire, water to blood, darkness); Joel 2:30–31 | তূরী judgments deliberately echo the Exodus plague-pattern — a theologically rich but low-lexical-risk allusion; a teaching note connecting Exodus deliverance-through-judgment to Revelation’s pattern is recommended. |
| Revelation 8:10–11 | Symbolic and Apocalyptic Interpretation | The star “Wormwood” | Jeremiah 9:15, 23:15 (God will feed them wormwood — bitter judgment for covenant unfaithfulness) | নাগদানা/আপসিন্থস — symbolic bitterness-of-judgment image; must not be literalized as a specific astronomical body to be identified in current events. |

| Revelation 11:7–11 | Perseverance and Faithful Witness; Resurrection of Christ | The two witnesses, the beast | Ezekiel 37:5, 10 (breath/spirit entering the dead, resurrection imagery) | পুনরুত্থান-adjacent imagery (“breath of life entered them”) — must not read as পুনর্জন্ম; this is a specific, historical bodily restoration, patterned after Christ’s own resurrection. |
| Revelation 11:15 | Return and Reign of Christ; Sovereignty of God over History | Christ, “our Lord” | Psalm 2:2, 6–9 (the Lord’s Anointed will reign); Daniel 2:44 (a kingdom that will never be destroyed); Exodus 15:18 (the Lord will reign forever) | জগতের রাজ্য আমাদের প্রভুর রাজ্য হয়ে গেছে — reuses প্রভু [Romans baseline, Critical] and ঈশ্বরের রাজ্য pattern; must render as the climactic fulfillment of the Kingdom of God theme carried from Romans 14:17. |

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Revelation 13:1–2 | Symbolic and Apocalyptic Interpretation | The beast from the sea | Daniel 7:2–7 (four beasts — lion, bear, leopard, ten-horned beast — combined into one composite beast here) | পশু must be held distinct from ζῷα/জীবন্ত প্রাণী (ch.4-5); Daniel’s four successive empires are compressed into Revelation’s single composite beast — a teaching note on this literary compression is recommended. |

| Revelation 20:11 | Judgment of the Wicked and Vindication of the Saints | God (on the throne) | Daniel 7:9–10 (thrones, books, the Ancient of Days); Isaiah 6:1 | শ্বেত মহাসিংহাসন — High risk; final universal judgment scene. |
| Revelation 20:12–13 | Judgment of the Wicked and Vindication of the Saints | The dead, judged | Daniel 12:1–2 (the book, resurrection to life or shame); Psalm 62:12 (rewarded according to deeds) | জীবন পুস্তক — render identically across all six occurrences (3:5; 13:8; 17:8; 20:12, 15; 21:27). |
| Revelation 20:14 | Judgment of the Wicked | Death, Hades | Isaiah 25:8 (he will swallow up death forever) | মৃত্যু ও পাতাল (or মৃত্যুলোক) — cross-refer 07/08 note distinguishing biblical Hades from Puranic Patala. |
Chapter 21 (verses 9–27) — The New Jerusalem Described
(Verses 1–8 are the core passage; full OT cross-reference treatment is given in Section B below.)
| Revelation Passage | Theme | Related Character(s) | OT/NT Connection | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Revelation 21:10–14 | New Heaven and New Earth; Unity of Jews and Gentiles | The holy city, twelve tribes, twelve apostles | Ezekiel 40:2, 48:30–35 (measuring the city; twelve gates named for the twelve tribes) | বারো দরজা, বারো ভিত্তিমূল — symbolic union of OT covenant people and NT apostolic foundation; parallel to Romans’ Unity of Jews and Gentiles doctrine at its consummation. |
| Revelation 21:16 | Symbolic and Apocalyptic Interpretation | The city’s cubic measurements | 1 Kings 6:20 (the Most Holy Place was a cube) | নগরটি পরিমাপ করলেন — symbolic perfection (echoing the Holy of Holies), not literal architecture. |
| Revelation 21:22 | Sovereignty of God over History; New Heaven and New Earth | God, the Lamb | Ezekiel 48:35 (“The LORD Is There” — the city’s new name, absence of a separate temple structure implied); Jeremiah 3:16–17 | মন্দির — Critical; see full mitigation note in Section D below. |
| Revelation 21:23 | New Heaven and New Earth | God’s glory | Isaiah 60:19–20 (the Lord will be your everlasting light; sun/moon no longer needed) | মহিমা [Romans baseline, High]; reprised at 22:5. |
| Revelation 21:24–26 | Universal Scope of the Gospel | The nations, kings of the earth | Isaiah 60:3, 5, 11 (nations come to your light; kings bring their wealth) | জাতিগণ relates to পরজাতি [Romans baseline pattern] — universal scope must remain unsoftened. |
| Revelation 21:27 | Judgment of the Wicked and Vindication of the Saints | The redeemed | Isaiah 52:1 (the unclean will no longer enter Zion) | জীবন পুস্তক — cross-refer consistency list above. |
Chapter 22 — The River of Life, the Tree of Life, and the Epilogue
| Revelation Passage | Theme | Related Character(s) | OT/NT Connection | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Revelation 22:1–2 | New Heaven and New Earth | The river, the tree of life | Ezekiel 47:1, 6–12 (river flowing from the temple, trees on both banks bearing fruit for healing); Genesis 2:9–10 (river and tree of life in Eden) | জীবন জলের নদী, জীবন বৃক্ষ — cross-refer 21:6 (জীবন জল) and 2:7 (জীবন বৃক্ষ); the whole-canon Eden-to-Eschaton arc must be visible in teaching notes. |
| Revelation 22:2 | Universal Scope of the Gospel | ”The healing of the nations” | Ezekiel 47:12 | জাতিগণের আরোগ্য — parallels 21:24-26 and Romans’ universal-scope doctrine. |
| Revelation 22:3 | New Heaven and New Earth | — | Genesis 3:17–19 (the curse pronounced); Zechariah 14:11 (no more curse) | আর কোনো অভিশাপ থাকবে না — direct canonical bookend of the Genesis 3 curse; teaching note should make this explicit link. |
| Revelation 22:4–5 | New Heaven and New Earth; Return and Reign of Christ | The redeemed | Numbers 6:25–26 (the Lord’s face shining on his people — priestly blessing fulfilled); Isaiah 60:19 | মুখ দেখা / আলো — reprises 21:23 imagery; direct fulfillment of the Aaronic blessing. |
| Revelation 22:6 | Sovereignty of God over History | Angel, God | — (self-referential to 1:1, 19:9, 21:5) | বিশ্বস্ত ও সত্য reprise — consistency rule with 19:11; 21:5. |
| Revelation 22:8–9 | Worship of the Lamb | John, angel | Exodus 34:14 (worship no other god); Deuteronomy 6:13 | উপাসনা করা — Critical; the angel’s explicit refusal of worship is the clearest textual statement that only God/the Lamb receive proskyneō. |
| Revelation 22:12 | Judgment/Vindication; Return and Reign of Christ | Christ | Isaiah 40:10, 62:11 (his reward is with him); Psalm 62:12 | আমি শীঘ্রই আসছি — render identically at 22:7, 12, 20. |
| Revelation 22:13 | Deity of Christ; Sovereignty of God over History | Christ | Isaiah 44:6, 48:12 (as at 1:8, 21:6) | আলফা ও ওমেগা, আদি ও অন্ত, প্রথম ও শেষ — full triple title; render identically to 1:8 and 21:6. |
| Revelation 22:14 | Perseverance; New Heaven and New Earth | The overcomer | Genesis 3:22–24 (access to the tree of life) | জীবন বৃক্ষ — cross-refer 2:7; 22:2, 19. |
| Revelation 22:15 | Judgment of the Wicked | The excluded | — (parallels 21:8’s vice-list) | Cross-refer 21:8 vice-list vocabulary for full consistency (মূর্তিপূজক, ব্যভিচারী, মিথ্যাবাদী, etc.). |
| Revelation 22:16 | Return and Reign of Christ; Messianic Promise | Christ | Numbers 24:17 (a star will come out of Jacob); Isaiah 11:1, 10 (Root of David) | প্রভাতী তারা, দায়ূদের মূল — must not be conflated with astrology (জ্যোতিষ); cross-refer 5:5, ch.2-3 morning-star entries. |
| Revelation 22:17 | New Heaven and New Earth; Grace | The Spirit, the bride, “let the one who is thirsty come” | Isaiah 55:1 (come, all you who are thirsty) | জীবন জল, অবাধে/বিনামূল্যে — reinforces অনুগ্রহ [Romans baseline, High]; grace-not-merit contrast must be preserved per the Requirements doc’s Romans 4:4-5 rule, now extended into Revelation’s final invitation. |
| Revelation 22:18–19 | Inspiration of Scripture (Romans baseline doctrine, applied here to this book) | — | Deuteronomy 4:2, 12:32 (do not add to or subtract from the word I command you) | Canonical-closure warning; direct verbal echo of the Deuteronomic covenant-document formula — teaching note should make this Torah-echo explicit as reinforcing Scripture’s unified authority across both Testaments. |
| Revelation 22:20 | Return and Reign of Christ | Christ, the Church | — (climactic liturgical response) | আমেন। প্রভু যীশু, আসুন। — treat with the same verbatim-consistency discipline the Requirements doc applies to Romans 10:9-10. |
| Revelation 22:21 | Grace | — | — (closing benediction, cf. Romans 16:20, 24) | প্রভু যীশুর অনুগ্রহ সকলের সাথে থাকুক — direct formal parallel to Romans’ own epistolary grace-benedictions (Romans 16:20, 24); same term cluster (অনুগ্রহ, প্রভু, যীশু), all [Romans baseline]. |
B. Core Passage Deep Cross-Reference — Revelation 21:1-8
| Revelation 21:1-8 Clause | Theme | Related Character(s) | OT/NT Connection | Translation Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 21:1 “new heaven and new earth…first heaven and first earth passed away” | New Heaven and New Earth | God | Isaiah 65:17 (“I will create new heavens and a new earth”); Isaiah 66:22; Genesis 1:1 (the first creation, now surpassed, not merely repeated) | নতুন — High risk; must carry qualitative-newness sense (kainos), tied to Isaiah’s own prophecy, not a cyclical-cosmology “new age.” |
| 21:1 “no longer any sea” | Sovereignty of God over History; New Heaven and New Earth | — | Genesis 1:2 (the primeval sea/deep); Daniel 7:2-3 (the four beasts rising from the sea); Revelation 13:1 (the beast from the sea) | সমুদ্র — final removal of the book’s own recurring chaos-symbol; internal Revelation cross-reference (13:1) more significant here than external OT link. |
| 21:2 “the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God” | New Heaven and New Earth; Church as Bride of Christ | The Church (corporate) | Isaiah 52:1 (holy city); Ezekiel 40-48 (the eschatological temple-city vision); Galatians 4:26 (the Jerusalem above, our mother) | পবিত্র নগর, নতুন যিরূশালেম — High/Critical; corporate reading required; parallels Galatians 4:26 (NT), a passage not in the Romans curriculum but worth noting for future Galatians-curriculum consistency. |
| 21:2 “prepared as a bride adorned for her husband” | Church as Bride of Christ | The Church | Isaiah 61:10 (garments of salvation, as a bride adorns herself); Isaiah 62:5 (as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride); Hosea 2:19-20 (covenant betrothal formula) | বধূ, সজ্জিত — High; cross-refer 19:7-9’s marriage-supper entry for full covenantal (not transactional-kanyadan) framing. |
| 21:3 “the dwelling place of God is with man…he will dwell with them” | New Heaven and New Earth; Sovereignty of God over History | God | Exodus 25:8 (let them make me a sanctuary that I may dwell among them); Leviticus 26:11-12 (I will make my dwelling among you); Ezekiel 37:27 (my dwelling place will be with them); John 1:14 (the Word became flesh and dwelt/“tabernacled” among us) | বাসস্থান/তিনি বসবাস করবেন — High; direct fulfillment-echo of the Levitical/Ezekiel covenant-presence promise and John 1:14’s incarnational “tabernacling,” theologically adjacent to but distinct from দেহধারণ [Romans baseline, Critical] (incarnation proper). |
| 21:3 “they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God” | Sovereignty of God over History; New Heaven and New Earth | God, his people | Exodus 6:7 (I will take you as my people, and I will be your God); Jeremiah 31:33 (the new covenant formula); Ezekiel 37:27 | ঈশ্বর [Romans baseline, Critical] — this is the Old Testament’s central covenant formula reaching its final, unmediated fulfillment; teaching notes should trace Exodus 6:7 → Jeremiah 31:33 → Revelation 21:3 as one unbroken covenantal thread. |
| 21:4 “he will wipe away every tear…death shall be no more” | New Heaven and New Earth; Judgment of the Wicked (as counter-panel) | God | Isaiah 25:8 (“he will swallow up death forever…and wipe away tears from all faces”); Isaiah 35:10 | মুছে দেবেন, মৃত্যু — High (doctrine level); Isaiah 25:8 is the direct, near-verbatim OT source; render so the allusion is recoverable, and keep মৃত্যু terminologically distinct from পুনরুত্থান and দ্বিতীয় মৃত্যু. |
| 21:5 “Behold, I am making all things new…these words are trustworthy and true” | New Heaven and New Earth; Sovereignty of God over History | God | Isaiah 43:19 (I am doing a new thing); Isaiah 65:17 | আমি সব কিছু নতুন করছি, বিশ্বস্ত ও সত্য — High; must render identically at 19:11 and 22:6 for বিশ্বস্ত ও সত্য (consistency rule). |
| 21:6 “It is done…I am the Alpha and the Omega…water of life without payment” | Sovereignty of God over History; Grace | God | Isaiah 55:1 (come, buy wine and milk without money and without price); Isaiah 44:6, 48:12 | সম্পন্ন হলো, আলফা ও ওমেগা, জীবন জল, অবাধে/বিনামূল্যে — High/Critical cluster; Isaiah 55:1’s free-invitation language is the direct OT source for δωρεάν’s grace-emphasis, reinforcing অনুগ্রহ [Romans baseline, High] exactly as Romans 4:4-5 and 11:5-6 require. |
| 21:7 “the one who conquers will have this heritage, and I will be his God and he will be my son” | Assurance of Final Victory; Adoption (echo) | The overcomer | 2 Samuel 7:14 (I will be his father, and he will be my son — the Davidic covenant formula, originally spoken of Solomon and typologically of the Messiah); Zechariah 8:8 | জয়ী হওয়া, পুত্র — Critical disambiguation mandatory; 2 Samuel 7:14 is the direct OT covenant-sonship formula being extended here to every overcoming believer (adoptive sonship), NOT a re-assertion of Christ’s own unique divine Sonship (ঈশ্বরের পুত্র, Critical, reserved for Christ alone per Romans baseline). Teaching notes must trace 2 Samuel 7:14 → (Christ’s unique fulfillment, Hebrews 1:5, outside this curriculum) → Revelation 21:7’s extension to believers by adoption, echoing Romans 8:15-17’s দত্তকপুত্রতা. |
| 21:8 “the cowardly, the faithless…idolaters…their portion is the lake of fire…the second death” | Judgment of the Wicked | The unrepentant | Deuteronomy 29:18-20 (covenant curses on the idolatrous heart); Leviticus 18:21-30 (vice-lists including idolatry, sexual immorality); Isaiah 66:24; Daniel 12:2 (everlasting shame and contempt) | মূর্তিপূজক [CRITICAL], দ্বিতীয় মৃত্যু [High] — the vice-list form itself echoes Deuteronomic and Levitical covenant-curse/holiness-code lists; frame মূর্তিপূজক per its mandatory mitigation note (canon-wide category, cf. Romans 1:23, not a targeted communal accusation). |
C. Messianic References and Typological Threads (Whole Book)
| Type/Title | OT Root | Revelation Occurrence(s) | Typological Significance | Bengali Rendering Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Lamb (Passover typology) | Exodus 12:1-13, 21-27 (Passover lamb); Isaiah 53:7 (lamb led to slaughter) | 5:6, 8-9, 12; 7:14; 12:11; 13:8; 21:9; 22:1, 3 (28 occurrences total) | Christ as the once-for-all sacrificial and triumphant Lamb, fulfilling both the Passover deliverance and the Isaianic Suffering Servant | মেষশিশু — must always carry both slain and triumphant senses; render identically at every occurrence. |
| Lion of the tribe of Judah / Root of David | Genesis 49:9-10; Isaiah 11:1, 10 | 5:5; 22:16 | Royal, kingly Messianic fulfillment of the tribal blessing on Judah and the Davidic royal line | যিহূদা-বংশের সিংহ, দায়ূদের মূল — reuses দায়ূদ [baseline]; same OT-background requirement as Romans 1:3’s seed of David. |
| Son of Man | Daniel 7:13-14 | 1:13; 14:14 | End-time judgment authority given by God to a human-like figure — direct claim to Christ’s derived, God-given universal dominion | মনুষ্যপুত্র — not a mere-humanity claim. |
| Key of David | Isaiah 22:22 | 3:7 | Christ’s exclusive authority to open/shut access to God’s kingdom, inherited from the Davidic steward’s office | দায়ূদের চাবি. |
| Morning Star | Numbers 24:17 | 2:28; 22:16 | Balaam’s oracle of “a star out of Jacob” fulfilled in Christ’s messianic dawn | প্রভাতী তারা — never conflated with astrology. |
| Male child caught up to God’s throne | Isaiah 66:7; Psalm 2:9 | 12:5 | Compressed nativity-to-ascension image of the Messiah’s birth and immediate divine vindication | পুত্র সন্তান — ties to দেহধারণ (incarnation) doctrine. |
| Word of God | John 1:1, 14 (NT, but same title) | 19:13 | Christ’s identity as God’s self-revealing, active Word | ঈশ্বরের বচন. |
| Seed of the woman crushing the serpent | Genesis 3:15 | 12:1-9, 13-17; 20:2, 10 | The protoevangelium’s promise fulfilled: the dragon/serpent’s defeat by the woman’s offspring | নাগ, সাপ — Critical/High mitigation required (see Section D). |
| The Amen, Faithful and True Witness | Isaiah 65:16 (the God of Amen, translated variously); 2 Corinthians 1:20 (NT) | 1:5; 3:14; 19:11; 21:5; 22:6 | Christ’s reliability as the guarantor of every divine promise | আমেন, বিশ্বস্ত ও সত্য — render identically across all five occurrences. |
| King of kings and Lord of lords | Deuteronomy 10:17; Daniel 2:47 | 17:14; 19:16 | Ultimate, unqualified assertion of Christ’s supreme sovereignty over every earthly and cosmic power | রাজাদের রাজা ও প্রভুদের প্রভু — Critical. |
| Alpha and Omega / First and Last | Isaiah 41:4; 44:6; 48:12 | 1:8, 17; 21:6; 22:13 | Divine self-designation shared identically by God (1:8) and Christ (22:13) — direct assertion of Christ’s co-equal deity | আলফা ও ওমেগা, আদি ও অন্ত, প্রথম ও শেষ — render identically at all four occurrences. |
D. Full-Canon Typological Patterns Requiring Coordinated Bengali Rendering
- Eden → Tabernacle/Temple → New Jerusalem. Genesis 2:9-10 (river, tree of life, God’s presence) → Exodus 25:8; Ezekiel 40-48 (tabernacle/temple, mediated presence) → Revelation 21-22 (unmediated presence, tree and river restored, no temple needed). The Bengali team must ensure বাসস্থান/বসবাস করা (21:3), মন্দির (21:22, Critical), জীবন বৃক্ষ, and জীবন জলের নদী (22:1-2) are all cross-linked in teaching notes as one unbroken canonical arc, not treated as unrelated isolated images.
- The Serpent in Eden → the Dragon/Satan. Genesis 3:1-15 → Revelation 12:9; 20:2. নাগ must never stand without its disambiguating apposition; this typological identity (the same adversary, defeated at last) is the single most theologically important continuity thread in the whole book and the single highest cultural-collision risk in the glossary (Manasa Devi collision).
- The Passover Lamb → the Lamb of Revelation. Exodus 12 → Revelation 5, 7, 12. মেষশিশু must be understood by Bengali readers as the fulfillment of the Passover-deliverance pattern, not a free-floating pastoral image.
- The Davidic covenant-sonship formula → universal adoptive sonship. 2 Samuel 7:14 → Romans 8:15-17 (দত্তকপুত্রতা) → Revelation 21:7. This chain must be made explicit in teaching notes so that “he will be my son” at 21:7 is read as the fulfillment of Romans’ adoption doctrine, not confused with ঈশ্বরের পুত্র (Christ’s unique Sonship, Critical).
- The Exodus deliverance-through-judgment pattern → the trumpet/bowl judgments. Exodus 7-12 → Revelation 8-9, 16. The plague-structure repetition is a deliberate literary and theological signal that the same God who judged Egypt to deliver Israel is now judging the world to deliver his people finally; this should inform teaching-note framing of তূরী and বাটি judgments as continuous with, not unrelated to, Exodus.
- The covenant formula “I will be your God, you will be my people.” Exodus 6:7 → Leviticus 26:12 → Jeremiah 31:33 → Ezekiel 37:27 → Revelation 21:3, 7. This is the Bible’s single most repeated covenant formula and reaches its terminus at the core passage; ঈশ্বর, প্রজা, and পুত্র renderings at 21:3, 7 must be checked against this whole chain for theological resonance.
- The Temple structure → its own abolition/fulfillment. Exodus 25-40; 1 Kings 6, 8; Ezekiel 40-48 → Revelation 21:22. This is a typology of transcendence, not mere replacement: the pattern (mediated presence in a structure) is fulfilled by its own removal (unmediated presence of a person). মন্দির Critical mitigation must communicate transcendence-through-fulfillment, not simple discontinuity or negation of the OT temple’s legitimacy in its own redemptive-historical moment.
E. Additional Bengali OT Book-Name Citation Table (Extends 12_ai_translation_requirements.md)
The Requirements doc’s citation table (Romans, Genesis, Psalms, Isaiah, Habakkuk, Joel) must be extended for Revelation’s OT source material. The following established Bengali Bible book-name forms should be added to that table in the next Phase 2 revision:
| English Book | Bengali Book Name | First Cross-Reference Use in This Analysis |
|---|---|---|
| Revelation | প্রকাশিত বাক্য | (whole document) |
| Exodus | যাত্রাপুস্তক | Revelation 21:3 (Exodus 6:7) |
| Leviticus | লেবীয় পুস্তক | Revelation 21:3 (Leviticus 26:11-12) |
| Numbers | গণনাপুস্তক | Revelation 22:16 (Numbers 24:17) |
| Deuteronomy | দ্বিতীয় বিবরণ | Revelation 22:18-19 (Deuteronomy 4:2) |
| 1 Kings | ১ রাজাবলি | Revelation 15:8 (1 Kings 8:10-11) |
| 2 Kings | ২ রাজাবলি | Revelation 16:16 (2 Kings 23:29-30) |
| 2 Samuel | ২ শমূয়েল | Revelation 21:7 (2 Samuel 7:14) |
| Job | ইয়োব | Revelation 12:10 (Job 1:6-11) |
| Proverbs | হিতোপদেশ | Revelation 3:19 (Proverbs 3:11-12) |
| Ezekiel | যিহিষ্কেল | Revelation 1:1 (Ezekiel 1:24) |
| Daniel | দানিয়েল | Revelation 1:7 (Daniel 7:13) |
| Zechariah | সখরিয় | Revelation 1:7 (Zechariah 12:10) |
| Jeremiah | যিরমিয় | Revelation 17:1 (Jeremiah 51:7) |
| Hosea | হোশেয় | Revelation 6:16 (Hosea 10:8) |
| Judges | বিচারকর্তৃগণের বিবরণ | Revelation 16:16 (Judges 5:19) |
| Galatians | গালাতীয় | Revelation 21:2 (Galatians 4:26, forward-note only; not part of this curriculum) |
Verse numbers remain Arabic numerals per the established house style; book names are never abbreviated in the final learner-facing text.
F. Rendering-Consistency Rules for Shared Quotations and Allusions
These rules bind Phase 2 segment translation wherever Revelation’s text overlaps in source, theme, or vocabulary with material already fixed by the Romans-curriculum baseline. They extend, and never override, the baseline’s own consistency rules (see 12_ai_translation_requirements.md, “Theological Consistency Rules Across Documents”).
- Habakkuk cross-book consistency. Romans 1:17 quotes Habakkuk 2:4 (“the righteous shall live by faith”); Revelation 6:10 alludes to Habakkuk 2:3 (“how long”). Both must use the identical Bengali book-name হবক্কূক. Any future direct Bengali rendering of Habakkuk 2:3-4 produced for either curriculum must be checked against the other for consistency, since both curricula assume the same underlying Old Testament text.
- Isaiah citation harmonization. Isaiah is the single most-cited OT book across both curricula (Romans 9-11’s extensive Isaiah catena; Revelation’s Isaiah 6, 11, 25, 40, 52-66 allusions). All Isaiah citations must use the established book name যিশাইয়. Where Isaiah 65:17/66:22 (new heavens/new earth, Revelation 21:1) or Isaiah 25:8 (Revelation 21:4) are given supporting teaching-note translations, those renderings should be checked for consistency against any Isaiah material already localized for the Romans curriculum’s OT-background notes.
- Genesis 3:15 / Genesis 15:6 dual-anchor rule. Romans anchors its argument for justification by faith in Genesis 15:6 (Abraham’s faith credited as righteousness — আরোপিত ধার্মিকতা). Revelation anchors its cosmic-conflict resolution in Genesis 3:15 (the serpent-crushing promise). Both are foundational Genesis citations for their respective curricula; ensure both are indexed under the single Bengali book name আদিপুস্তক for cross-curriculum navigability, and that any teaching material connecting the two (e.g., “the faith-righteousness promised to Abraham is secured by the very victory over the serpent promised in Eden”) uses ধার্মিকতা/আরোপিত ধার্মিকতা exactly as fixed in the Romans baseline.
- “Faithful and true” (πιστὸς καὶ ἀληθινός) verbatim rule. This phrase occurs at Revelation 3:14, 19:11, 21:5, and 22:6, and shares its বিশ্বস্ত root with the Romans baseline’s foundational বিশ্বাস (faith) term family. All four occurrences must be rendered identically: বিশ্বস্ত ও সত্য. Any segment-level deviation must be flagged for theologian review per the escalation rules.
- Lord (κύριος/প্রভু) supreme-title rule. Romans establishes প্রভু as Critical-risk, requiring exclusive, unqualified supreme Lordship (Romans 10:9). Revelation intensifies this exact term into its most climactic form, “King of kings and Lord of lords” (17:14; 19:16). The Bengali রাজাদের রাজা ও প্রভুদের প্রভু must visibly contain and never dilute the same প্রভু root fixed in the Romans baseline; this is not a new title invented for Revelation but the terminal expression of the same Lordship claim carried across both curricula.
- Righteousness/righteous-deeds guard-rail rule. ধার্মিকতা (justifying righteousness by faith, Critical, Romans baseline) and ধার্মিক কাজ (righteous deeds/acts, Revelation 19:8) share a root but must never be confused in translation or in teaching notes. Any segment using either term must include, or cross-reference, a note clarifying that Revelation 19:8’s “righteous deeds” are the fruit of a righteousness already imputed by grace (per Romans 4, আরোপিত ধার্মিকতা), never its ground.
- Adoption/sonship dual-track rule. ঈশ্বরের পুত্র (“Son of God,” reserved exclusively for Christ, Critical, Romans baseline) must never be used for the believer’s sonship in Revelation 21:7 (“he will be my son”), which instead echoes Romans 8:15-17’s দত্তকপুত্রতা (adoption). Every occurrence of generic “son” language applied to believers/overcomers in Revelation must be checked against this dual-track rule and flagged for theologian review if any ambiguity remains.
- Grace/free-gift (δωρεάν/অনুগ্রহ) rule. Wherever Revelation uses δωρεάν (“freely,” 21:6, 22:17) or otherwise stresses gift-not-merit language, the rendering must reinforce, not merely resemble, the Romans baseline’s grace-versus-works contrast (Romans 4:4-5; 11:5-6). Use অনুগ্রহে or a construction that keeps অনুগ্রহ visibly present in the segment or its accompanying note.
- Universal-scope (“all,” “every nation,” “no distinction”) rule. Romans 3:23; 10:12-13 and Revelation 7:9; 14:6; 21:24; 22:2 all express the same Universal Scope of the Gospel / Unity of Jews and Gentiles doctrine. All such passages must retain fully unsoftened universal language in Bengali, per the Requirements doc’s explicit prohibition on qualifying “all”/“everyone” language for social or communal-identity comfort — this prohibition applies with equal force to Revelation’s parallel passages.
- Proper-name and transliteration continuity. All proper names shared between the two curricula (দায়ূদ, ইস্রায়েল, মোশি — where introduced) must use the identical established Bengali Bible form fixed by the Requirements doc’s transliteration table, with no curriculum-specific variation introduced for Revelation.
G. Explicit Full-Coverage Confirmation
Every chapter of Revelation (1 through 22) has been reviewed above for OT quotation/allusion content and cross-curriculum (Romans) parallel content. Chapter 10 and the bulk of Chapter 16 are explicitly noted as reviewed with no new Critical/High-risk cross-reference material beyond what is already catalogued elsewhere in this document, rather than silently omitted.
