Doctrine Analysis
11 Doctrine Analysis — Philippians — English → Bengali
Purpose
This document executes PRD Phase 1 Step 4 (full doctrine matrix) for the Philippians curriculum. It is doctrine-consistent with assets/doctrine_risk_registry.json — same 22 doctrines, same risk tiers, same review routing — and extends that registry with (a) a single consolidated matrix view and (b) mandatory full-book, chapter-by-chapter coverage per the PRD Phase 1 mandate. Philippians 2:1-11 (the Christ hymn) is the curriculum’s theological anchor, but every chapter of the letter is analyzed below; no section is silently skipped. Sections that introduce no new doctrinal or terminological load are explicitly marked “reviewed — no new doctrinal content” rather than omitted.
This document must be read together with analysis/08_core_glossary.md (term-level detail) and assets/doctrine_risk_registry.json (the authoritative risk tiers, which this document must never contradict).
Section A — Full Doctrine Matrix (Philippians 1–4)
| # | Doctrine | Risk | Key Terms | Supporting Passages (Philippians) | Translation Risk Summary | Review Routing |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | The Incarnation and Self-Emptying of Christ (Kenosis) | Critical | form of God, emptied himself, form of a servant, likeness of men | 2:6, 2:7, 2:8 | ঈশ্বরের রূপ risks reading as one Hindu avatāric রূপ among several; নিজেকে শূন্য করলেন risks a Buddhist śūnyatā (metaphysical-void) reading if left unpaired with “took the form of a servant” in the same clause. | Human theologian |
| 2 | Deity of Christ | Critical | form of God, equal with God, every knee bow | 2:6, 2:9-11 | The Isaiah 45:23 echo (universal homage to YHWH alone, now given to Jesus) must never be hedged; any softening collapses the hymn’s central claim. | Human theologian |
| 3 | Lordship of Christ | Critical | Jesus Christ is Lord, Lord | 2:11, 2:19, 3:8, 4:5 | যীশু খ্রীষ্ট প্রভু (2:11) must match Romans 10:9’s যীশু প্রভু verbatim (cross-curriculum consistency rule); প্রভু must never read as one honorific among several (guru/pir/avatāra). | Human theologian |
| 4 | Crucifixion of Christ | Critical | death of the cross, obedient unto death | 2:8 | Direct historical assertion the Qur’an denies (Sūrah 4:157). ক্রুশের মৃত্যু must never be softened to “suffered greatly” or “was persecuted.” | Human theologian |
| 5 | Resurrection of Christ | Critical | power of his resurrection, conformed to his glorious body | 3:10, 3:21 | Must always use পুনরুত্থান, never পুনর্জন্ম (reincarnation); 3:21’s bodily transformation must read as a single historical event, not a cyclical rebirth-cosmology change. | Human theologian |
| 6 | Humanity of Christ | High | likeness of men, found in fashion as a man | 2:7-8 | মানুষের সদৃশে must never use মূর্তি (idol/consecrated image), which would suggest an illusory or merely representational humanity. | Human theologian |
| 7 | Joy in Suffering and Imprisonment | Critical | joy, rejoice, suffering, chains, fellowship of his sufferings | 1:12-18, 1:29-30, 2:17-18, 3:10, 4:4 | দুঃখ collides with Buddhist duḥkha and Hindu karma-consequence suffering-frames; আনন্দ collides with Vedantic ānanda (Brahman-bliss). Joy-in-suffering must stay concretely anchored to the gospel’s advance, never float into abstract bliss or be read as karmic retribution. | Human theologian |
| 8 | Partnership in the Gospel | High | partnership/fellowship in the gospel, giving and receiving, fragrant offering | 1:5, 1:7, 4:14-18 | Must not flatten into NGO-style charitable giving divorced from gospel proclamation; সহভাগিতা must retain shared participation IN the gospel, not mere material support FOR a worker. | Human theologian |
| 9 | Unity and Humility in the Church | High | same mindset, one accord, humility, selfish ambition, vain conceit | 2:1-4, 4:2-3 | একপ্রাণ risks a Hindu nondual “one Self” merger reading rather than distinct persons bound by covenantal love; নম্রতা risks an ego-transcendence/impersonal-liberation reading rather than Christ’s concrete historical self-emptying. | Human theologian |
| 10 | Righteousness by Faith versus the Law | Critical | righteousness, law, faith, circumcision, rubbish | 3:2-9 | Restates the Romans justification doctrine; ধার্মিকতা, ব্যবস্থা, বিশ্বাস reused with zero deviation. NEVER ধর্ম, which would collapse Paul’s argument that religious credentials cannot secure right standing. | Human theologian |
| 11 | Contentment in All Circumstances | High | content, I have learned, the one who strengthens me | 4:11-13 | সন্তুষ্টি shares its field with the Yoga Niyama saṃtoṣa (self-achieved ascetic detachment); “I have learned the secret” is exceptionally close to দীক্ষা (guru-administered esoteric initiation) and must never use দীক্ষা-adjacent vocabulary. | Human theologian |
| 12 | Citizenship in Heaven | High | conduct yourselves as citizens, citizenship, Savior | 1:27, 3:20-21 | নাগরিকত্ব must never imply political disloyalty to one’s earthly nation-state (a live sensitivity in both Bangladesh and West Bengal); ত্রাণকর্তা must never suggest Christ as one savior-avatāra among several, nor be softened against Islam’s denial of a mediating Savior. | Human theologian |
| 13 | Pressing on toward the Goal in Christ | High | press on, goal, prize, perfect/mature, calling | 3:12-16 | পুরস্কার risks a karma-fruit / weighed-deeds merit reading; পরিপূর্ণ/পূর্ণবয়স্ক required, সিদ্ধ absolutely forbidden (the Hindu/Yogic self-perfected-adept term, the opposite of Paul’s “not yet attained”). | Human theologian |
| 14 | Sanctification and Working Out Salvation | High | work out your salvation, God who works in you | 2:12-13 | κατεργάζεσθε (“bring to full effect”) must not read as “earn from nothing,” which would contradict the Critical grace/works contrast already fixed in Romans 4:4-5, 11:5-6; must always be taught paired with v.13. | Human theologian |
| 15 | Divine Calling and Pursuit | High | calling, press on, upward call | 3:14 | আহ্বান reused verbatim from Romans; must be distinguished from a Hindu dharma-path unfolding or Sufi-inflected mystical calling. | Human theologian |
| 16 | Knowledge of Christ versus Worldly Credentials | High | knowledge, rubbish, gain and loss, circumcision | 3:4-10 | জ্ঞান is the standard term for impersonal, liberating Hindu jñāna; Paul’s knowledge of Christ is always relational and personal, never impersonal metaphysical insight — object must always be specified as খ্রীষ্টকে জানার জ্ঞান. | Human theologian |
| 17 | Sainthood and Church Identity | High | saints, all the saints | 1:1, 4:21-22 | Continues the Romans-established departure from সাধুগণ (Hindu/Jain ascetic image); every ordinary believer is পবিত্র লোক, not an ascetic elite. | Human theologian |
| 18 | Prayer and Freedom from Anxiety | Medium | prayer, petition, thanksgiving, peace of God | 4:6-7 | Must be distinguished from Hindu puja ritual worship of an image and from folk shrine-based pir/saint-tomb intercession common to both folk Islam and folk Catholicism in Bengal. | Native speaker review |
| 19 | Providence and Provision | Medium | God will supply every need, the one who strengthens me | 4:13, 4:19 | Must read as personal, purposive care, never impersonal fate (ভাগ্য/নিয়তি) or karma-fruit. | Native speaker review |
| 20 | Church Leadership and Offices | Medium | overseer, deacon, servant | 1:1 | অধ্যক্ষ / ডিকন name recognized, accountable institutional offices, distinct from an individual guru’s or Sufi pir’s personal, non-institutional spiritual authority. | Native speaker review |
| 21 | Mutual Edification and Sacrificial Service | Low | fellow worker, fellow soldier, poured out, ministry | 2:17, 2:25-30 | সহযোদ্ধা (“fellow soldier”) carries jihad/holy-war sensitivity in Muslim-majority contexts if read militantly; frame as shared spiritual labor, not armed conflict. | Automated review |
| 22 | Thanksgiving and Joy | Low | thanksgiving, rejoice always | 1:3-4, 4:4, 4:6 | Standard vocabulary; minor risk of over-ritualization beyond the concerns already flagged under Joy in Suffering and Imprisonment. | Automated review |
Risk summary (must match doctrine_risk_registry.json exactly): Critical 7 · High 10 · Medium 3 · Low 2 · Total 22 · Theologian review required: 17 · Native speaker review: 3 · Automated only: 2.
Section B — Chapter-by-Chapter Coverage
Philippians 1 (1:1–1:30)
| Passage | Active Doctrine(s) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 1:1-2 | Church Leadership and Offices; Sainthood and Church Identity | দাস (Paul and Timothy as “servants/slaves of Christ Jesus”), অধ্যক্ষ, ডিকন, and পবিত্র লোক all introduced in the salutation; sets the register for the whole letter. |
| 1:3-8 | Thanksgiving and Joy; Partnership in the Gospel | ধন্যবাদ and সহভাগিতা established from the letter’s opening; must retain gospel-specific participation, not generic gratitude for friendship. |
| 1:9-11 | Righteousness by Faith versus the Law (fruit only, not the forensic doctrine yet) | ধার্মিকতার ফল — “fruit of righteousness” flowing FROM righteousness already granted, not producing it; low standalone risk but must not be read as works generating righteousness. |
| 1:12-18 | Joy in Suffering and Imprisonment; Partnership in the Gospel | Chains (বন্ধন/শিকল) advancing the gospel; rival preachers motivated by envy vs. goodwill — Paul’s joy is anchored in gospel advance regardless of motive, not in his own comfort. |
| 1:19-21 | Joy in Suffering and Imprisonment; (anticipates) Citizenship in Heaven | ”To live is Christ, to die is gain” (লাভ/ক্ষতি) — must not be read as a longing for release from a suffering-laden cycle of existence (a possible Hindu/Buddhist resonance) but as confident hope in Christ specifically. |
| 1:22-26 | Joy in Suffering and Imprisonment | Paul’s continued ministry preference; low new-term risk, doctrinally consistent with above. |
| 1:27-30 | Citizenship in Heaven (first occurrence, πολιτεύεσθε); Unity and Humility in the Church; Joy in Suffering and Imprisonment | নাগরিকের মতো জীবনযাপন করো introduces the citizenship motif that climaxes at 3:20; suffering “for his sake” reintroduces the suffering-as-privilege doctrine. |
Philippians 2 (2:1–2:30)
| Passage | Active Doctrine(s) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 2:1-4 | Unity and Humility in the Church | একই মনোভাব পোষণ করা, একপ্রাণ, স্বার্থপরতা, অহংকার, নম্রতা all cluster here as the hymn’s ethical setup — the doctrinal load-bearing introduction before the theological climax. |
| 2:5-8 | Incarnation and Self-Emptying (Kenosis); Deity of Christ; Humanity of Christ; Crucifixion of Christ | The curriculum’s core passage and theological anchor: ঈশ্বরের রূপ, ছিনিয়ে ধরে রাখার বিষয়, ঈশ্বরের সমান, নিজেকে শূন্য করলেন, দাসের রূপ, মানুষের সদৃশে, মানুষের বেশে, নিজেকে নত করলেন, ক্রুশের মৃত্যু — the single highest-density Critical-risk passage in the entire curriculum. |
| 2:9-11 | Deity of Christ; Lordship of Christ | সর্বোচ্চ স্থানে উন্নীত করলেন, সকল নামের ঊর্ধ্বে নাম, প্রত্যেক জন নতজানু হয়, যীশু খ্রীষ্ট প্রভু — the hymn’s climax; direct Isaiah 45:23 echo. |
| 2:12-13 | Sanctification and Working Out Salvation | নিজের পরিত্রাণ পূর্ণরূপে কার্যকর করো, paired mandatorily with “God who works in you” to prevent a works-righteousness misreading. |
| 2:14-16 | Mutual Edification and Sacrificial Service; (supporting) shine as lights | আলো (not জ্যোতি); blameless children amid a crooked generation — moderate risk, mostly ethical exhortation. |
| 2:17-18 | Joy in Suffering and Imprisonment; Mutual Edification and Sacrificial Service | ঢেলে দেওয়া বলিদানের মতো (“poured out”) — sacrificial self-giving in service, must not read as ritual appeasement of a deity. |
| 2:19-24 | Church Leadership and Offices; Mutual Edification and Sacrificial Service | Timothy’s commendation — reviewed, no new Critical/High doctrinal content beyond established ministry vocabulary. |
| 2:25-30 | Mutual Edification and Sacrificial Service; Partnership in the Gospel | সহকর্মী ও সহযোদ্ধা (Epaphroditus) — military metaphor flagged for cultural sensitivity in Muslim-majority readership; risk of exposure to death for gospel work reinforces the suffering doctrine at Low-to-Medium intensity here. |
Philippians 3 (3:1–3:21)
| Passage | Active Doctrine(s) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 3:1 | Thanksgiving and Joy | Transitional “rejoice in the Lord” — reviewed, no new doctrinal content beyond the established joy vocabulary. |
| 3:2-3 | Righteousness by Faith versus the Law | ত্বকচ্ছেদ (circumcision) introduced as false confidence; sets up the credentials list. |
| 3:4-9 | Righteousness by Faith versus the Law; Knowledge of Christ versus Worldly Credentials | আবর্জনা (“rubbish/dung”), জ্ঞান (contextually qualified as খ্রীষ্টকে জানার জ্ঞান), লাভ/ক্ষতি — Paul’s former credentials surrendered; ধার্মিকতা reused verbatim from Romans at the passage’s theological center (3:9). |
| 3:10-11 | Resurrection of Christ; Joy in Suffering and Imprisonment; Knowledge of Christ versus Worldly Credentials | পুনরুত্থানের সামর্থ্য and দুঃখভোগে সহভাগিতা appear together — one of the curriculum’s highest-density Critical clusters outside the hymn itself. |
| 3:12-14 | Pressing on toward the Goal in Christ; Divine Calling and Pursuit | তাড়া করা, লক্ষ্য/পুরস্কার, আহ্বান — grace-grounded effort, not self-generated achievement. |
| 3:15-16 | Pressing on toward the Goal in Christ | পরিপূর্ণ/পূর্ণবয়স্ক (NEVER সিদ্ধ) — Paul explicitly denies having “already attained.” |
| 3:17-19 | Crucifixion of Christ (by negative contrast); Righteousness by Faith versus the Law | ”Enemies of the cross of Christ” — warns against those whose end is destruction; reinforces the cross as a real, non-negotiable historical center, not merely a moral symbol. |
| 3:20-21 | Citizenship in Heaven; Resurrection of Christ | আমাদের নাগরিকত্ব স্বর্গে, ত্রাণকর্তা, মহিমার শরীর — this passage’s Savior-title and bodily-transformation language make it the second-highest Critical-density passage after the hymn. |
Philippians 4 (4:1–4:23)
| Passage | Active Doctrine(s) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 4:1 | Unity and Humility in the Church | Transitional exhortation to stand firm — reviewed, no new doctrinal content. |
| 4:2-3 | Unity and Humility in the Church | Euodia and Syntyche named — concrete, named-persons application of the doctrine introduced at 2:1-4. |
| 4:4-5 | Thanksgiving and Joy; Lordship of Christ (nearness of the Lord) | “Rejoice in the Lord always” — আনন্দ anchored again to the Lord’s person and nearness, not abstract bliss. |
| 4:6-7 | Prayer and Freedom from Anxiety | প্রার্থনা/নিবেদন/ধন্যবাদ, ঈশ্বরের শান্তি — direct, unmediated address to a personal God. |
| 4:8-9 | (supporting vocabulary only) | সদ্গুণ (“virtue”) — Paul’s only NT use of this Hellenistic philosophical term; Low risk, reviewed. |
| 4:10-13 | Contentment in All Circumstances; Providence and Provision | সন্তুষ্টি/সন্তুষ্ট, আমি শিখেছি, যিনি আমাকে সামর্থ্য দেন — the curriculum’s most initiation-vocabulary-sensitive passage (দীক্ষা collision risk). |
| 4:14-20 | Partnership in the Gospel; Providence and Provision | দান ও গ্রহণ, সুগন্ধ/গ্রহণযোগ্য বলিদান, ঈশ্বর সমস্ত অভাব পূরণ করবেন — concrete financial referent for gospel partnership doctrine. |
| 4:21-23 | Sainthood and Church Identity; Church Leadership and Offices | Closing greetings to “all the saints” — reviewed; reuses পবিত্র লোক established at 1:1, no new doctrinal content. |
Full-book coverage confirmation: All 104 verses of Philippians 1–4 have been reviewed above. No section was silently omitted; transitional/greeting material without new doctrinal or terminological load (1:1 salutation formula, 2:19-24, 3:1, 4:1, 4:8-9, 4:21-23) is explicitly marked “reviewed” rather than skipped.
This document extends assets/doctrine_risk_registry.json (authoritative tiers) and analysis/08_core_glossary.md (term-level detail) with full chapter-by-chapter coverage per PRD Phase 1 Step 4. See analysis/04_comparative_theology.md for Step 5 cross-tradition analysis of these same doctrines.
Critical Risk Doctrines
Crucifixion of Christ
Bengali name: খ্রীষ্টের ক্রুশীয় মৃত্যু
Key terms: death of the cross, obedient unto death
Review routing: Human theologian
This verse asserts as plain historical fact the crucifixion the Qur’an explicitly denies (Sūrah An-Nisā 4:157, which holds it ‘was made to appear so to them’). ক্রুশের মৃত্যু must never be softened into a general phrase such as ‘suffered greatly’ or ‘was persecuted,’ which would accommodate rather than confront this direct doctrinal conflict for Muslim-background readers.
Deity of Christ
Bengali name: খ্রীষ্টের ঈশ্বরত্ব
Key terms: form of God, equal with God, every knee bow
Review routing: Human theologian
The hymn’s climax deliberately echoes Isaiah 45:23, where universal homage is owed exclusively to YHWH; directing that same homage to Jesus is the sharpest possible assertion of co-equal deity, directly opposed to the Islamic confession of Christ as prophet only and to a Hindu reading of Christ as one avatāra among many gods. No hedge or qualifying language is permitted in ঈশ্বরের সমান or প্রত্যেক জন নতজানু হয়।
The Incarnation and Self-Emptying of Christ (Kenosis)
Bengali name: খ্রীষ্টের দেহধারণ ও আত্মশূন্যকরণ (কেনোসিস)
Key terms: form of God, emptied himself, form of a servant, likeness of men
Review routing: Human theologian
শূন্য/শূন্যতা is Bengali Buddhism’s technical term for śūnyatā, the doctrine of emptiness central to the historic Buddhist heritage of Bengal (the Pāla-era heartland, with continuing Bengali Buddhist communities); if ‘emptied himself’ stands alone it risks being read as Christ dissolving into metaphysical non-being rather than freely adding a full human servant-nature. ঈশ্বরের রূপ (form of God) risks collision with the Hindu devotional pattern of a deity manifesting in multiple রূপ (as with Krishna’s various forms in the Bhagavad Gītā), and must be taught as Christ’s own single eternal essence, not one form among several avatāra-manifestations.
Joy in Suffering and Imprisonment
Bengali name: দুঃখভোগ ও বন্দিত্বে আনন্দ
Key terms: joy, rejoice, suffering, chains, fellowship of his sufferings
Review routing: Human theologian
দুঃখ is the exact Bengali/Sanskrit term for Buddhist duḥkha, the First Noble Truth naming all conditioned existence as suffering to be escaped, and is also colored by a general Hindu framework in which present suffering is read as the fruit of past karma. Philippians teaches the opposite: suffering for Christ is a Spirit-given privilege and a form of fellowship with Christ, not a cosmic condition to escape nor retribution for past deeds. আনন্দ is also the term for Vedantic ānanda (Brahman-bliss); every joy-in-suffering passage must stay concretely anchored to the gospel’s advance and Paul’s actual circumstances, not float into an abstract bliss-state.
Lordship of Christ
Bengali name: খ্রীষ্টের প্রভুত্ব
Key terms: Jesus Christ is Lord, Lord
Review routing: Human theologian
The confession যীশু খ্রীষ্ট প্রভু (2:11) must match the Romans 10:9 salvation-confession rendering যীশু প্রভু verbatim per the cross-curriculum consistency rule; প্রভু must convey exclusive, supreme lordship, not one honorific title alongside a guru, pir, or avatāra.
Resurrection of Christ
Bengali name: খ্রীষ্টের পুনরুত্থান
Key terms: power of his resurrection, conformed to his glorious body
Review routing: Human theologian
Must always use পুনরুত্থান, never পুনর্জন্ম (reincarnation within the samsara cycle). The bodily transformation of 3:21 must be taught as a single, historical, once-for-all event, not a repeatable or cyclical form-change consistent with Hindu rebirth cosmology; also connects to the Islamic denial that Jesus died and was raised at all.
Righteousness by Faith versus the Law
Bengali name: ব্যবস্থা নয়, বিশ্বাসের দ্বারা ধার্মিকতা
Key terms: righteousness, law, faith, circumcision, rubbish
Review routing: Human theologian
This chapter directly restates the Romans doctrine of justification and must reuse ধার্মিকতা, ব্যবস্থা, and বিশ্বাস with zero deviation from the Romans Language Package. NEVER use ধর্ম for righteousness, since ধর্ম denotes both Hindu cosmic duty and religious identity itself, which would collapse Paul’s argument that his former religious credentials (circumcision, law-keeping) cannot secure right standing before God.
High Risk Doctrines
Citizenship in Heaven
Bengali name: স্বর্গে নাগরিকত্ব
Key terms: conduct yourselves as citizens, citizenship, Savior
Review routing: Human theologian
নাগরিকত্ব is a modern political-legal term; this doctrine must be framed as covenantal belonging to God’s heavenly reign (parallel to the baseline’s ঈশ্বরের রাজ্য pattern), never as a claim of political disloyalty to one’s earthly nation-state — a genuinely sensitive association in both Bangladesh’s and West Bengal’s religiously plural, identity-conscious political contexts. ত্রাণকর্তা (Savior) must never suggest Christ is one savior-figure among several available avatāras, as with Krishna in the Bhagavad Gītā, nor be softened for Muslim-background readers, for whom Islamic theology denies any need for a personal mediating Savior.
Contentment in All Circumstances
Bengali name: সকল পরিস্থিতিতে সন্তুষ্টি
Key terms: content, I have learned, the one who strengthens me
Review routing: Human theologian
সন্তুষ্টি shares its conceptual field with saṃtoṣa, one of the five Niyamas in classical Yoga philosophy — a self-achieved ascetic virtue cultivated through detachment from circumstance. More acutely, μεμύημαι (‘I have learned the secret’) draws on Hellenistic mystery-initiation vocabulary, and Bengali দীক্ষা (guru-administered esoteric initiation into secret spiritual knowledge or a mantra) is an unusually close and dangerous parallel. Rendering this verse with দীক্ষা-adjacent vocabulary would suggest Paul received contentment through a secret ritual from a human guru, reversing the text’s point that contentment is Christ-dependent, learned through lived experience, and available to any believer without ritual mediation.
Divine Calling and Pursuit
Bengali name: ঈশ্বরের আহ্বান ও তার অনুসরণ
Key terms: calling, press on, upward call
Review routing: Human theologian
আহ্বান must be reused verbatim from the Romans baseline; God’s sovereign summons grounding the race-metaphor must be distinguished from a Hindu soul’s dharma-path unfolding or a Sufi-inflected mystical calling, consistent with the baseline’s divine_calling doctrine note.
Humanity of Christ
Bengali name: খ্রীষ্টের মানবতা
Key terms: likeness of men, found in fashion as a man
Review routing: Human theologian
মানুষের সদৃশে must never be rendered with মূর্তি (the standard word for a consecrated Hindu deity’s image/idol), which would suggest Christ’s humanity was merely an external representation rather than a real, lived human nature — guarding against both a Hindu māyā-illusion reading and the Islamic tendency to minimize Christ’s bodily vulnerability.
Knowledge of Christ versus Worldly Credentials
Bengali name: খ্রীষ্টকে জানার জ্ঞান বিরুদ্ধে জাগতিক পরিচয়পত্র
Key terms: knowledge, rubbish, gain and loss, circumcision
Review routing: Human theologian
জ্ঞান is the standard Bengali term for impersonal, liberating Hindu jñāna — knowledge dissolving ignorance/māyā to attain mokṣa through one’s own insight. Paul’s knowledge of Christ here is always relational and personal, growing through relationship and even through suffering (3:10), never an impersonal metaphysical insight; the object of জ্ঞান must always be specified as খ্রীষ্টকে জানার জ্ঞান.
Partnership in the Gospel
Bengali name: সুসমাচারে সহভাগিতা
Key terms: partnership/fellowship in the gospel, giving and receiving, fragrant offering
Review routing: Human theologian
The Philippians’ material and spiritual co-participation in Paul’s ministry must not be flattened into ordinary NGO-style charitable giving divorced from gospel proclamation — a live risk given how much Bengali Christian institutional presence is expressed through development and relief work. সহভাগিতা must retain its doctrinal sense of shared participation IN the gospel itself, not merely support FOR a gospel worker.
Pressing on toward the Goal in Christ
Bengali name: খ্রীষ্টে লক্ষ্যের দিকে অগ্রসর হওয়া
Key terms: press on, goal, prize, perfect/mature, calling
Review routing: Human theologian
পুরস্কার (prize) risks a merit-earned reading analogous to karma-fruit or an Islamic weighed-deeds reward and must be taught as the prize of grace-secured hope in Christ. Most critically, পরিপূর্ণ/পূর্ণবয়স্ক must be used for ‘perfect/mature’ and সিদ্ধ must NEVER be used — সিদ্ধ is the specific Hindu/Yogic/Jain term for a spiritually perfected adept who has attained siddhi through self-directed practice, the exact opposite of Paul’s point that he explicitly has NOT yet attained such perfection and presses on only by grace.
Sainthood and Church Identity
Bengali name: পবিত্র লোকদের পরিচয়
Key terms: saints, all the saints
Review routing: Human theologian
Consistent with the baseline sainthood doctrine, every ordinary believer at Philippi is পবিত্র লোক, not an ascetic elite; this curriculum continues the baseline’s deliberate departure from the older Bengali Bible’s সাধুগণ, which evokes a specific Hindu or Jain wandering-ascetic image.
Sanctification and Working Out Salvation
Bengali name: পরিত্রাণ কার্যকর করা ও পবিত্রীকরণ
Key terms: work out your salvation, God who works in you
Review routing: Human theologian
κατεργάζεσθε (‘bring to full effect,’ not ‘earn from nothing’) must not be rendered so as to suggest salvation is achieved by human effort, which would directly contradict the grace/works contrast already Critical in Romans 4:4-5 and 11:5-6. Must always be read and taught together with verse 13, ‘God who works in you,’ to prevent a works-righteousness misreading that would resonate with both a karma-merit framework and an Islamic weighed-deeds framework.
Unity and Humility in the Church
Bengali name: মণ্ডলীতে একতা ও নম্রতা
Key terms: same mindset, one accord, humility, selfish ambition, vain conceit
Review routing: Human theologian
একপ্রাণ risks being heard through Hindu nondual metaphysics (the Ātman-Brahman ‘one Self’ merging into an undifferentiated absolute) rather than the biblical picture of distinct persons bound by covenantal love. নম্রতা risks defaulting to a Hindu/Buddhist frame of ego-transcendence toward impersonal liberation rather than the relational, other-giving humility modeled concretely by Christ’s historical self-emptying in 2:6-8.
Medium Risk Doctrines
Church Leadership and Offices
Bengali name: মণ্ডলীর নেতৃত্ব ও পদ
Key terms: overseer, deacon, servant
Review routing: Native speaker review
অধ্যক্ষ (overseer) and ডিকন/সহকারী সেবক (deacon) name recognized, accountable offices within the মণ্ডলী and must be distinguished from an individual charismatic guru or Sufi pir’s personal spiritual authority, which operates on a fundamentally different, non-institutional basis in Bengali religious culture.
Prayer and Freedom from Anxiety
Bengali name: প্রার্থনা ও উদ্বেগমুক্তি
Key terms: prayer, petition, thanksgiving, peace of God
Review routing: Native speaker review
Anxiety is answered not by self-generated calm but by direct, unmediated prayer to a personal, listening God; this must be distinguished from Hindu puja ritual worship directed at an image and from the folk shrine-based practice (common to both folk Islam and folk Catholicism in Bengal) of seeking intercession through a pir or saint’s tomb, consistent with the baseline’s prayer_and_intercession doctrine note.
Providence and Provision
Bengali name: ঈশ্বরের পরিচালনা ও প্রয়োজন পূরণ
Key terms: God will supply every need, the one who strengthens me
Review routing: Native speaker review
God’s material and spiritual provision must be taught as personal, purposive care, consistent with the baseline’s providence doctrine, never as impersonal fate (ভাগ্য/নিয়তি) or the fruit of accumulated karma.
Low Risk Doctrines
Mutual Edification and Sacrificial Service
Bengali name: পরস্পর উন্নতিসাধন ও আত্মোৎসর্গী সেবা
Key terms: fellow worker, fellow soldier, poured out, ministry
Review routing: Automated review
Low doctrinal risk overall, though the military metaphor ‘fellow soldier’ (সহযোদ্ধা) carries a distinct cultural-sensitivity consideration in a Muslim-majority context if heard through a jihad/holy-war lens; frame explicitly as shared spiritual labor and personal cost, not militant conflict.
Thanksgiving and Joy
Bengali name: ধন্যবাদ ও আনন্দ প্রকাশ
Key terms: thanksgiving, rejoice always
Review routing: Automated review
Standard vocabulary with minor risk of over-ritualization; low collision risk beyond the concerns already flagged under the broader Joy in Suffering and Imprisonment doctrine.
